Speaker 1 (00:01):
Well, we've been waiting for this moment. A lot of
folks have been waiting on this. We get our chance
to sit down with Arch Manning.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Arch.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
This is your first SEC day. How's it been so far?
Speaker 3 (00:12):
It's been good, kept it light so far. Thanks for
having me.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Yeah, it's not gonna be that light.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
I can tell you that much right now, because obviously
there's gonna be a scrum when you get your chance
to go and meet with everybody and have that opportunity.
But what are some of the things that you and
the team have been working on this offseason going into
the football season.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Yeah, for me, just getting to be around these guys
and be a leader both a leader, that's what I'm
working on. Our team's been good. We've got a close team,
young group. We're really motivated, so we're fired up for
the year.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
And talk about the Manning camp.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Obviously that's very special to you with your family and
everybody that was there. But you got a chance to
get some work with some of the guys that are
here at the SEC media Days and you got to
spend some time with some different people.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
How cool was that?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah, it's cool.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
For me, It's like a family reunion, but also spending
time around other guys in the same position to me
around the country. I saw a gunner stock in there
and said, all these guys, it was fun getting to
kind of pick their brand.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yep, we're talking to Arch Manning and Arch. You know,
a lot of expectations are coming into this season. Obviously,
we don't want to go too deep into that because
that's what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
It's expectations.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
But what are you doing to keep yourself grounded besides
just your family, but also with your teammates.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Yeah, I think just taking a day by day working hard,
and you know, I think sitting two years I realized
that you can't take anything for granted, and being in
this role, I'm not gonna take it for grant and
continue to work hard to take care of my body,
my nutrition, eat a lot of pineapples, fruits, and and
stay ahead of my game.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Well, as you're eating these pineapples and these fruits, I
know mentally you're trying to get more engaged. And you
mentioned a bunch of times during your previous media availabilities
you talked about what it was like sitting behind Quinn
learning from Quinn and not only just learning from him,
but also from Coke Sarkisian.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah, I've learned both so much from both those guys.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
Quinn, Yeah, he worked like a pro, whether it was
taking care of his body, film study, or handle on
the media.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
It was cool to watch him do his thing.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
And he's he's been so good in me.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I know a lot of times it's not fun having
me as a backup, but he handled it like pro
and I can still reach out to him whenever I want,
So it's a fun.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Learn from him. And then Coach Starks a genius.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
So anytime you get to spend two years around those guys,
you learn a lot.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yeah, and talking about your new offensive line, a lot
of people are talking about that as well. Trevor Gooseby
has been unbelievable. Every time I watch him on film,
he seems to get better and better. And I know
he can dunk a basketball. Are you you dunking with
him at all? I can't get up there like him,
but I can done. But we played a little in
the offseason. He's he's a real deal, like shooting threes
(02:48):
and everything. And he's got a little brother who's we
want to come to textas too. He's a big time
recruit basketball. Yeah, I've seen Austin playing quite a few times. Yeah,
he's pretty solid as well. Yeah, let me ask you
about the wide receiving color, cause a lot of people
have been talking about the wide receivers. You know, obviously
you lost some guys that went to the NFL. They've
done some great things. But now this crew with you
(03:09):
now has the expectations of doing some special things.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, we got a good group. We got a bunch
of young receivers.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Got I spent some time with in the spring, and
then having demailed Wingo back the edition of Parker livingson
m it Mosley, It's gonna be a fun year.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I gotta I gotta get them the ball, let them
go to work.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, and you brought a new tight end and as well, Jake,
uh jack excuse me and uh I heard that he
has been really lighting it up. I got a chance
to talk to Michael taff earlier and he was talking
about how well he was playing.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah, Jackson hard worker. We've kind of got to see that.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
In the first few weeks he's been here, he's always
asked him to do extra and so whenever you have
a guy like that as as motivated as us quarterback
to get the extra work in.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
It's gonna be a it's gonna be fun.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Now that we're at the point of sec media days,
that means that football season is just around the corner.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
What are you gonna do for.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
The last couple of days where you can relax a
little bit before you get back on that grind.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yeah, I mean we don't really relax month quarter back,
and we got a tough workout this Thursday Fridays. I
think it's gonna be the tost of the year, So
get through that hydrate up. But I'll take a few
days to kind of get away from football, hang with
the family, and then and get back to work.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
There is Ladies and gentlemen arch manning quarterback one at
the University of Texas.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Thanks for taking the time, man, thanks for having me.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Appreciate you
