of specials there. But if you want to come and

(00:57):
between Anderson Mill and Lake Cree. I will be there
from six to eight tonight with bud Light and of
course folks from the Zone.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I'll post on my social media as well.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I want to get into this conversation because jah Day
Barron has now been named to the watch list, well
not the watch list, the semi finalist list of the
Thorpe Award and one of the biggest stories about that
is the fact that he did decide to come back.

(01:29):
You start looking at his career and what he's been
able to do and you're like, Wow, this dude is
really really talented.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
He went through all of.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
The checkpoints to find out if he should go to
the league or if he should come back. And Coach
Sark was asked about the impact of Joday coming back
for one more year and now how well he's been playing.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I think from a team perspective, him deciding to come
back as an easy one, right, I think we're better
joh A Baron on our team, you know, and he's
as versatile as he's been for us, and how he
can contribute not only on defense, but what he's doing
on special teams for us right now has been huge.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
You know that his ability to play multiple positions.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
His decision to come back was was one that I
wish all of our guys would go through the same
process he went through. And part of that process is
getting the grades from the NFL. And it's not just
the grades that you know, PFF for one of these websites,
puts out, but it's actually written reports that we get
from NFL teams and then in that report, they'll say, hey,

(02:37):
this is your grade, this is what you do well,
and here's where you can improve that grade. And if
the things are tangible in there to improve that grade, man,
it sure is worth your while because I think so
many times guys are thinking, I just got to get
to the league so I can get to a second contract,
but all the while that there's still money there that
that can be made that you never get to make

(02:57):
up again.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Right, So wherever you get draft that.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
First deal, that is your money for that first four years,
and so you never get a chance to go make
that back. And I think Joaday has made himself a
ton of money this year by coming back. You know,
I think he's continually matured off the field as well
as what his leadership has been on the field. He's
shown the versatility that he can play multiple positions, and

(03:21):
so I think it's been a win win for all
parties involved. And like I said, for us as a team,
we're really fortunate that he decided to come back.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Harge. When your coach says you made a ton of
money coming back, you know what, the.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
That gives credence to what he says about other players.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
That next year, they.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Might think I'm ready and then he can say, listen,
all I got to do is say go talk to Jody.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
Sometimes you need You're not refined, You're good, yep, but
you need polishing. And that is what ja Day did.
He gave himself. I mean, we watched football all year
in the NFL and we see, you know, long Horns
in Pittsburgh and long Horns in the Rams, and we see,

(04:13):
you know, all of the guys that we look at
and go man, Jordan Hicks still playing like all of
Jaday is going to be drafted in the first three days,
like he won't see.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
The fourth round.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
We had Jim Naggy on the show at the SEC
media Days and he talked about Jaday in particular, and
he was like, Jaday was a guy that came and
did everything and just at the end of it decided
I want to go back to school. And he said,
I was shocked. I'm glad he did it because now
he's another guy. He's a guy we're going to continue
to talk about him. But the fact that he went

(04:50):
through the process to find out what the NFL thought
of him.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
He had great senior ball.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I mean, he was playing and doing all the workouts
and doing everything he needed to do. But he went
through the process, got his grade and decided, you know what,
it's probably best for me to come back. And so
it was really really impressive to hear that. And to
your point, Mark, now he's opened up a whole different
conversation for guys that may think that they're ready and

(05:17):
not sure if they need to do it.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
So let's go talk to exactly a moon though.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
And I'm man, Sarka is just he's just bad in
a thousand right now with me.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
You know, I wish he bad man he going yard.
But the only.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
Thing, like I want him to take that first pitch though,
I want him to be able to tell Quinn, hey,
go and have fun. Remember this is a game, and
don't put so much pressure on yourself, like you tell me,
like what's comfortable for you and when you when you
relax and you let the quarterback be himself and let

(05:59):
him have some ownership in it, I think Quinn will
be less tight and he'll go out there and play
like he did big game Quinn. We haven't been able
to call him big game Quinn.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
What's seventeen of seventeen last week. Man, you know what
that was. That was good, but that wasn't big game. Quinn.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, yeah, we talked to Danny Davis yesterday.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
Where he's running up and down the field slapping helmets.
I don't want to see him throw a pass, complete
a pass and walk off the field or you know,
like I feel like he's not happy with himself. That's
the way his body language looks. I think he's gonna
be all right, but spraying up.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
We'll see.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
They take on Florida this Saturday, eleven am kickoff. You
can hear us on the pregame show starting at eight
am from hook Him hangout, get down there early, come
and have a good time with us, as we always do.
But one of the players that won't be in the
game in the first half is Vernon Broughton. So Vernon
Broughton had the hit against uh what's that quarterbacks name,

(07:04):
Diego Davla or whatever his name was, the quarterback probably yeah,
something like that about yeah, something like that, the quarterback
for Vanderbilt on an interception by Kobe Black that Kobe
Black took to the house and it ended up being returned.
So he got ejected for targeting. So coach Stark was asked, well,
how do you practice?

Speaker 2 (07:22):
How do you.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Prepare for this with him not being able? Is it
a regular practice or do you move it around?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
I think about that all the time. I know that,
and You're like, why would you think about it? Because
it stills on your mind. You're like, Okay, how do
you do it? But yeah, Vernon's practicing as normal, you know.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
I think it's a great opportunity.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Jermaine Lay has really come on here in the last
month of the season, and so we've been impressed with him.
Bill Norton has stepped up out here. You step up,
Tia Savella. We're gonna need more out of him. And
like I said, the last two weeks, I think Sediir
has had his best two weeks since he's been here.
So we're gonna need these guys. They're all gonna have
to step up that way and so again, and Florida

(08:03):
is a really good running football team. That's what they
believe in, and so we got to be able to
stop the run in this game.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
We're gonna need all those guys to step up.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Did you hear that name?

Speaker 5 (08:12):
So deer, big three hundred and fifty pounds, d tackle.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
They trought up so Deer's come on, young fellaw.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah yeah man, that his best week of work.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Hey man, he's a mountain. Yes, he is a mountain.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
So Deir Mitchell from New Jersey big boy to your
point three fifty three fifty is what he's I want
to go eat with him.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
I want to go watch and eat what. I'm sorry,
I don't what's wrong with that man? You know he
could put it down.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Okay, I'm just gonna cautch you Mi carn't.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Curt my mind off. I just wanted to cut off now, Mark,
can you imagine like you go? And I can't.

Speaker 5 (09:01):
When we went and watched Jacob, he's forty wings? How
many wings you think he could eat? He is on
a restricted diet.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
He is the one that they was trying to get
his weight down.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
They got him down the three fifty mark.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Gonna take him to a buff fan. Say go, woman,
what your guy? Play some of the old fat Boys music.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
I know you're not slowing down at ten plates?

Speaker 5 (09:28):
Oh you eat?

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Come on man, I want to see it. Man, you
go over here. The dude is trying to get on
the field.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
We just heard that he has been working his behind
off to get on the football.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
I want to go.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Celeb man is trying to get him back the line
over here.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Well, I'm glad to hear it.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
I'm glad that that's a great name to hear because
you want to see the young people that come in
get highly you know, regarded that that ca a man
highly regard it. Get to see the field like you know,
and he's we saw him a little bit in Michigan,
but not that much. Yeah, I want to see I
want to see him in an extended period.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Yeah, he is.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
He's working his way to being that guy. One of
the other thing was they were on they were on
another show out of Pocket yesterday and I got a
chance to see it. And obviously everybody's talking about the SEC,
the move to the SEC, and Michael taff was asked about,
Hey man, y'all are in the SEC.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
What have you thought about it so far?

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (10:35):
I would say I think the SEC you can't take
it in an opponent lightly.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
The Big twelve is awesome.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
You know, we played some really good competition with the SEC.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Is just physical.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
It's big, it's fast, and everything that you're doing you
can't take it lightly. Every single competition is going to
be played like an SEC championship, and that's how we
take it. And it's it's been a brutal season of
of physicality and competition, but we're ready for it. We're
ready for this next four game stretch, and we're just
focused on Florida right now and taking advantage of our

(11:08):
opportunity this weekend.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
And he also touched on the fact of your guy,
God you've been talking about all season long, Colin Simmons,
who is now on the Freshman All American list and
he's up for a bunch of awards. He spoke on
Colin Simmons and what he brings to the table stun.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
I've never seen a freshman like that that is just
a natural leader. You know, freshmen usually, you know, staying themselves,
you know, work really hard and just kind of stay
to themselves.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
But he's he's.

Speaker 6 (11:41):
Going up to people that are older than him and saying, Hey,
finish the ball, Hey go punch the ball out right there,
Hey get mental reps right here. And so I've never
seen it something like that. I have a lot of
respect for Colin. He's going to be a special, special
player in his career and he's already showing it right now.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
And it's the Sean Alexander Freshman of the Year and
he is a semi finalist for that award already. He's
the guy that shows up on film every single day
and you've talked about a numerous times about what you
think of him, and he's his potential in the future.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Von Miller is the only person that I've seen in
this modern time to have that hip being that he
does where and he could do it from both sides. Yeah,
usually a guy, you know, he's a defensive being on
the right. You know, he got that left show the
dip yup man. This dude. They line him up all
over the field and everywhere he can get to the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
And that's all they want him to do, Go get
the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
The other team's quarterback must go down, and he must
go down hard, and that's exactly what they're doing right now.
One other thing that was kind of fun is the
dance moves. These guys now are talking about the quarterback
dancing and that trend that's going on, and so they
were asked about the dance moves with the court back.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
Who's got better moves arch or Quinn when it.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Comes to celebrations, because we've seen both the momentum getting.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
The best on the team, or is there somebody else
who's even better?

Speaker 6 (13:15):
There's somebody in the locker room on TikTok, I know it.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
You always got that one guy.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
Yeah, there's there's definitely some guys that can hit the moves.
But Arch and Quinn they doesn't make you laugh on Saturdays.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
And then they were asking about Arch again and what
his dancing is like being behind Quinn. You know, Quinn
your he's that guy.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
And then coach Milly just the staff that we have here,
and and then not only them helping.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Him off the field, but they're alwayso helping him on
the field.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
So they all are getting it in and everybody still
wants to ask about Arch, but it's like, no, no, no, no,
don't worry about Arch.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
You need to worry about Quinn. Quinn is the quarterback one.
He will be the starter. He will we will go
as he goes.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
I want to see that SpongeBob dance again.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
That's that's you know how to do anything? No do you, Delia,
do you know how.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
To do it?

Speaker 2 (14:12):
I'm not sure.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Really great dancer, what Yeah, we just.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
Say we're gonna put him, Hey, big modest man, We're
gonna put him on the We're gonna put him on
the camera.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
In a minute. There you go.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
When we come back.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
We got Eric Henry of Hornston.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yeah, we'll find out if he knows how to do
the SpongeBob dance right here on the morning kickoff on
