I got a dump but button ready and I'm right
there on the mic.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Everybody is ready.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Everybody knows they've been sleepy before where they didn't sleep
in two or three hours, and this is the end result.
You feel like this before, feeling like I'm floating. It's crazy.
I love it. It's actually a good feeling. I really
don't even know which way to go right now, but
I'm gonna start with this because in the NBA yesterday,

(03:24):
we've been talking about it all week. It continues to happen.
People are getting paid. And when I say they're getting paid,
they're getting their own money. Yesterday, Devin Booker, the star
of the Phoenix Suns, now that this team is now
all about him. He signs a two year, one hundred

(03:44):
and forty five million dollars maximum contract extension to be
with the franchise through the thirty twenty thirty season. It
is the highest salary in history. And let's hear about it.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
We've got breaking news out of the NBA where Devin
Booker and the Suns have agreed to a two year,
one hundred and forty five million dollar extension through twenty thirty.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
That's Promost reports.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
The four time All Star has spent his entire tenior
freen Phoenix averaging is over twenty five and a half
points and seven.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
It's his per game last season.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Booker is now set to earn three hundred and sixteen
million dollars with the Suns over the next five seasons.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Man, what had?

Speaker 6 (04:31):
What?

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (04:33):
So you got the top ten picks, like you got
the opportunity to pick ten players? Is Devin Booker one
of your top ten picks in the NBA?

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Top ten? Maybe? Maybe, maybe he's.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Had the ability to be a star in this league.
He's had the ability to do some amazing things, especially
when it comes scoring.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
He is a pure bucket. He's a bucket.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
And if you're going to start your franchise or have
your franchise leader who's been with you since day one,
and you're going five points a game seven assists, it's
pretty pretty good.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah, But I.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Don't know if I would draft him in my top
out of the top ten players.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I mean, you bet what are you basing it off of? Though?

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Like you want to win right now or you want
to win for the future. That's that's the only two
options that there is. You want to win right now
or you want to win in the future. I think
he's definitely somebody that other.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Teams would want. Yeah, I don't think.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
I mean, he's a four time NBA All Star, two
time All NBA selection, he's got two Gold medals, He's
he became the Sun's franchise career leader in points last year.
I mean, he is their franchise so again, and let's
not forget he's only twenty eight years old.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
That's true. A good points you just made that.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I mean, but I'm just saying you're not gonna draft him, right,
is that what you're saying? I don't think so, like,
I mean, because your your standards are so high. I mean,
everybody's got to be a champion for you. I just
got to be number one. No no, no, not.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
True, not true.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I mean, okay, it just so happens that if I
was gonna pick, I would pick Gianni's over everybody first,
because he could do everything except for shoot threes, and
he did that at thirty three, which is the highest
he ever did. I thought that was pretty good. I mean,

(06:38):
you get people like Luca Wimby, like you want to
go with somebody that you can you can build everything around,
but you want to win right now. And I think
that Booker is up there, but he may be like eleven,
he may be the eye man out. He be up there, though,

(07:01):
So you're gonna put my man on number eleven just to.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Just I'm gonna just put him over there, just because.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Well, I mean, he has done some amazing things for
that organization, as we said before, and to your point,
you know, you look at what Giannis was able to do. Booker,
He's averaged twenty five points seven straight seasons. Bro I
would pick him over John Moran and Zion Williamson. Well
that's he's really pleased by that thought.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
One guy won't be well, both guys won't be playing exactly.
One suspended, the other one is you know, you know,
just the glass every time you touching me break.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
I mean you start looking at this organization and you
understand that this is ten years that he's been with
this team. His his worth is more for the community.
It's more for what he's been able to do thus far.
You go and leadership and consistency, very you want those things,

(08:03):
those traits and the guy that you pick in the top.
And every person that they've had before they've moved on
from Kevin's gone, DeAndre Ayton's gone, they're about to And
that's not even their guy, you know what I'm saying.
Kevin wasn't their guy. Hit Their guy just got rewarded
with seventy two point five million dollars per season. I

(08:28):
think I thought it was a case where you're like, hey, man,
please don't leave us. If you leave, maybe maybe have nothing, maybe,
but him being who he is and knowing the layout there,
I mean, this is and and they had him part
of the coaching search like he was. He was part

(08:48):
of it, so that lets you know everything about what
they think of him when they invite you into the
conversation and say, hey, what are you trying to get
what are you trying to get done? What are we
trying to achieve? What is our goals moving forward? And
are they aligned with each other? And they found a
way to get it done. Wow, that's a good point.

(09:09):
Maybe he might move up into eight. Well, the main
thing is this. The main thing is this. They found
a way to get the deal done. And he's another
blockbuster player that has just gotten paid throughout this process.
And then you look at all the people that signed
their rookie and their max extensions. You look at Manchero

(09:31):
from Orlando. You look at what just happened with Max Holmgren,
look at i mean chet Holmger excuse me, and you
watch what happened with Shay Gilchris Alexander. You're keeping your
home grown people there. The only thing that I'm kind
of curious about is the fact that the Joker did
not sign his extension.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Oh my god, did you see that?

Speaker 1 (09:51):
And the thing about it is if he's not signing
that extension, you know he is about to become a
player that might make eighty million dollars per season. Yeah,
and I thought it was very curious. Think about that. God,
the dude said, I'm not gonna re sign with y'all.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
I'm not going to sign an extension, an extension.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
I will wait until after the season next year when
I am an unrestricted free.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
He free free. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
So on his contract, he has three years remaining on
a five year deal at two hundred and seventy six
million dollars that he signed in twenty twenty two. He
has on the final year of his deal in twenty
seven twenty eight, it's sixty two point eight million dollars.
Can I give you my way too soon? Prognostication he

(10:40):
gonna be a Laker with Luca, that he is going
to Los Angeles with Lucas. You're hopeful. You're hopeful, right?
Is that what you're that's what you're looking for? Done
that for since the beginning of time. They started with
with Will, like they always go out and get the big,
splashy player that was undeniable, the Shaquille O'Neills, the power gasols.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Like they go get him.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
But the thing about it is, if you're gonna go
get him, you need to get him now. You need
to try to get him now because as he gets older,
he's not gonna be that great anymore. And Luca's gonna
continue to ascend because he's so young.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Both of those guys make everybody around him better. Agreed
with that, Agree with that.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
We're just getting started on a throwback Thursday edition of
The Morning Kickoff. When we come back, we're gonna have
a conversation about prime time. Dion Sanders took the podium
and a lot of folks are not happy with his
thought process. We'll explain right here on the Morning Kickoff
on Sports Radio Am thirteen hundred The Zone. You know

(11:48):
you're doing something when you got coach Sark introducing you.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Welcome back to the Morning Kickoff. Hearry, we made it
go ahead o that the boys. We're doing some things
up in here.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Next week we will be in Atlanta for SEC Media Days.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
It's an exciting time.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
That means that we're getting closer and closer the football
season coming up. In the next segment, we'll talk to
Eric Henry of Horns twenty four to seven about the
SEC Media Days and what his expectations are going into this.
But right now, we're going to have a conversation about
the Big Twelve. The Big Twelve is having their media
days in Frisco at the Star, very cool place. My

(12:33):
first year of going to all the media days, it
was at the Star. It was brand new. The Star
was brand new, the hotel was brand new. Everything was
just new and shiny and exciting about it. So it
was good. It was good. But right now you start
to think about the Big Twelve and what it is. Obviously,

(12:53):
Joey McGuire in Texas Tech have been the conversation with
everybody because of what they been able to do.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
With the money. My money.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
It's the first time that I've seen a guy like
Cody Campbell, who is in charge of the Matador Fund
and they sold their company for four point two billion dollars.
We all know the story and how the new contracts
are being written up. He's going around doing tours and
doing the like the coaches, he's doing all the interviews

(13:25):
and they're talking to him about his collective and everything else.
But the guy that everybody wanted to talk to was
obviously Dion Sanders. Dion Sanders has done an unbelievable job
at Colorado. You've seen the turnaround, but this is going
to be a challenging year for him because of the
fact this is the first time that he doesn't have

(13:47):
his son at quarterback.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
He doesn't have a.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Quarterback I'm talking about, but and he doesn't have Travis
Hunter at wide receiver and defensive back. It's a new
look Arizona, I mean Arizona, a new look Colorado football team.
And Dion was talking about the new identity.

Speaker 7 (14:07):
The two star players from last year gone at Like
every school, there's a new identity each season. Give us
a window into the case for Colorado winning this year.

Speaker 8 (14:14):
Well, we won't have those two phenomenal players, but we
will have a phenomenal team. We're not as good individually,
we're better collectively.

Speaker 7 (14:25):
Without your door, A lot of people speculated you didn't
have much interest in coaching college football?

Speaker 6 (14:29):
Why was that? What? What?

Speaker 2 (14:30):
What?

Speaker 6 (14:31):
There was?

Speaker 8 (14:32):
There was a well why why would that be a factor?
Why would I have interest in doing what God bless
me to do?

Speaker 6 (14:37):
That don't make sense? Whatsoever?

Speaker 9 (14:39):
Well, just walk, don't forget. You know I had two sides, right,
I do challenge? Yeah, what a my shadow? It's easier
for me, man? Why because I don't have to be
two things? I don't have to be the father and
the coach. Now, I could just be the.

Speaker 8 (14:53):
Coach, and I don't have to look and make sure
I'm a dad and he's doing his job. I'm a dad,
he's doing his job on depenses at Now, I could
just focus on these young men. I love so many
of them like their my sons, I truly do. And
some of them act like their my sons. But I
don't have any biological sons on the team right now.

Speaker 6 (15:12):
But I'm I'm proud of them, man. But I love
the challenge. I do.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
I love it too. I love the fact that he
pointed out that I got more than one kid on
this team, by the way, just like you said, like
what about the other one? And uh, A lot of
people don't talk about him, but he's gonna get a
chance to play. Yeah, he understands what the job is.
But Dion was also uh talking about the transfer portal

(15:40):
and Joey McGuire, Joey McGuire, Texas Tech they got the bread,
so the transfer portal has been very good to what
Texas Tech was trying to do.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
Coach Brian, how are you how you doing, sir?

Speaker 10 (15:52):
I'm good, I'm Jared Ramirez with Redder at or Sports
dot Com.

Speaker 8 (15:55):
Uh, you talked a lot about media Day last year
about your relationship with Joey McGuire.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
Yeah, I'm just curious if you paid attention at all
to what they've been doing in the portal. Especially Yeah, you.

Speaker 8 (16:03):
Joey got some money joy well baby spending that money.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 8 (16:11):
Once upon a time, you guys were talking junk about
me going in that portal. Now when everybody going to
port it's okay, it's cool when they do it. There's
a problem when I do it. Ain't not a rap song.
First of all, Let's get this straight. I love me
some Joey MacGuire and uh, one of the best coaches
in our conference. I've seen him excel from from from

(16:33):
high school all the way to where he is now,
and uh, he's a winner and I absolutely love it.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
And you know, I love him because he's a man
of standard.

Speaker 8 (16:41):
We played there last year and we was getting bombarded
by them Totito's I don't know how to say it.
Somebody said Tortillas who was getting bombarded by that, and
Joey grabbed the macrophone and told him to stop. Throwing
at us or it's gonna be some consequences. And I
love that, and I love Jeory Joe. I know you're
out there, baby, I love you. Man, I appreciate. Can
you send you know a few of those dollars to

(17:03):
us so we could get some of those.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Players cent so you started looking at me, stop, I
love it, I love it.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Give you that money.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
We're gonna get into Dion and his money here in
just this minute. But he also had a relationship with
coach Dillingham. Dillingham, the Arizona State had football coach. We
got a chance to see him up closing personal last year,
the energy that he brings him and your boy Scatterboo
and what they were able to do. And Dion and
Coach Dillingham had a great relationship.

Speaker 11 (17:31):
Hey, coach, justin Leasertosta Devils died just over here.

Speaker 6 (17:34):
I hope you're doing well. Thank you.

Speaker 11 (17:37):
And Kenny Dillingham both got started at your respective program
at the same time.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
In the Pact twelve played them that year.

Speaker 11 (17:43):
You guys won, Now made the transition to the Big twelve,
and you guys play again this year, except two years
later they're coming in as Big twelve champion. So what
could you say just about what Kenny said?

Speaker 6 (17:53):
For Well, Coach dille Ham is unbelievable. He's a he's
a dear friend. We go way back.

Speaker 8 (17:58):
I thought we was going to have the opportunity to
coach to get at one point. But he's excelled, man,
and what he did last season was unturned believable.

Speaker 6 (18:07):
I didn't get jealous, I didn't get sensitive.

Speaker 8 (18:09):
I was just proud of him because you know, we
were versins together coming into the Big twelve, you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
So I'm thankful.

Speaker 8 (18:16):
I'm the Pac twelve then the Big twelve, so I'm
thankful that he did the dog one thing that was
unbelievable and now he's soaring and I'm just happy.

Speaker 6 (18:25):
Man. I want to see everybody get together.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
I want to see everybody win, except when they play
for US, play US, but i want to.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
See everybody win.

Speaker 8 (18:31):
But I'm proud of coach Tilly Hamming what his relationship
with those kids and those young men, and I know
some of them personally, that he is who he says
he is, and I'm proud of him.

Speaker 6 (18:41):
Hard.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
You know, Diane was talking about how his team is
better right now, rather than it being a singular great players,
they have one.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
And when I say they have one, Draylon.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Millerds from Salesby, He's from Silk, Okay.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
All right.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
He is the new Deebo Samuel. He can play wide
receiver as good as he can play running back.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
He is a six hundred pounds squatter.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yeah, Like, the dude is phenomenal and I can't like
he has some splashes last season.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Yeah, but it wouldn't his turn. Now.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
I'm curious to see what kind of performance because they're
going to be throwing him the ball and they're going
to hand it to him. And they got a kid
from from Crowley too, that's going to be outstanding as well.
So he's going to be a special performer as well.
But we want to talk about the salary cap. Deon
Sanders and the salary cap. He decided that college football

(19:39):
now needs a salary cap.

Speaker 12 (19:41):
Ben Brian, you were talking about it during your presser,
about nil and what these players deserve and how the
game is modified to that point. From where you sit
doing it at the highest level in the NFL, how
do you believe nil should be gord railed now, especially
with the revenue sary.

Speaker 8 (19:58):
I wish it was a cap, you know, like the
top of the line player makes this, and if you're
not that type of guy, you know you're not gonna
make that.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
That's what the NFL does.

Speaker 8 (20:06):
So the problem is you got a guy that's not
that durn good, but he could go to another school
and they give him half a million dollars and you can't.

Speaker 6 (20:14):
You can't compete with that. That don't make sense.

Speaker 8 (20:16):
And you're talking about equality, not equality like equal I
think to equality. And then all you have to do
is look at the playoffs and see what those teams spent.
And you understand during the white they end the playoffs,
it's kind of harder to compete with somebody who's giving
twenty five thirty million dollars or during freshman class.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
It's crazy.

Speaker 8 (20:37):
We're not complaining because all these coaches up here and
can coach that busts off and given the right opportunity
with the right players and play here and there, you'll
be there. But it's what's going on right now don't
make sense, and we want to say stuff, but we're
trying to be professional. But you're going to see the
same teams during that at the end and with somebody
who sneaks up in there.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
But the team that pays the more, pays the most,
is gonna be that. It sound like complaining to me.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Yeah, one of these brothers, he lost.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Me right there. Well you heard them what he was saying. Joy,
give me some of that money there. Joey got that money.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
You know why because that money is spending and when
you spend, you win. And that's why those teams are
being able to advance in the playoffs. Man, I'm gonna
have to put that preaching music on there for you.
I'm just saying, man, don't because remember prime Time became
that because he was getting must be the money.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Hey, but that's a double standard. Oh that's what he.

Speaker 8 (21:40):
Come on now, you know why flashing lights.

Speaker 6 (21:48):
About.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Oh yeah, you must be the money man. That's how
things get done. Speaking of money, you can't hire money
when it comes to our guy, Eric Henry of Horrors
twenty point seven, joining us next right here on the
morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
It's Thursday. It can only mean one thing.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Our guy, Eric Henry of WRES two four seven joins
us as always, and I want to get right into it.
You can follow him at Eric c Henry Underscore on
social media, and I want to get right into it.
It's a big week coming up for all of us
in the atl next week SEC Media Days, and we're

(22:30):
excited about being there. But most importantly, what is it
about this year's media day that you're wanting to get
to the bottom line?

Speaker 10 (22:40):
As always, Good morning, Harge, Mark, appreciate y'all having me on. Yeah,
you know, looking at SEC Media Days, I'll tell you
the one thing that's certainly going to be the storyline,
and that's Arch Manning being made available to the national media.
Again for those who may not understand, you know, Arch Manning,
of course, by product of not being Texas a starting quarterback,
wasn't typically made available to the local media and as

(23:01):
a result, the national media didn't get a chance to
talk to him. Now they're bringing him to the ATL
Parge and Mark.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Over one thousand.

Speaker 10 (23:08):
Credentials have been issued for SEC Media Days, So I
know that is going to be a circus. But I'll
give you a storyline outside of Arch. How about some
of the other teams in the pack? Right, you know, Texas, Georgia.
Everyone's talking about them. I want to know how's Tennessee
doing after their quarterback situations offseason?

Speaker 5 (23:26):
How Auburn.

Speaker 10 (23:28):
You know they're putting a lot on Jackson Arnold, wanting
him to pap and tap into be that five star
recruit he was when he signed Oklahoma.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
How's that coming along? So Arkansas?

Speaker 10 (23:37):
Look at Taylor Green, you know, Texas A and m
Marsall reed, There are a lot of teams in this
league where you look at quarterback and that's the deciding
factor between them being maybe a five to six win
team and then being an eight to nine win team.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
So I'm looking at checking some of the quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
One of the things that I'm looking to check into
is LSU. You know, LSU is a team that always
has the athletes.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
We know that you athlete, you.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Go to LSU, you playing, you get into the league.
But the thing about it is they've always tried to
get over that hump, and ever since Joe Burrow and
that great team that they've had, they haven't found a
way to get it done. What do you think about
Brian Kelly and his journey at LSU.

Speaker 10 (24:16):
I'm glad you mentioned that name because, quite frankly, I
think the thing that might be standing in LSU's way is.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Brian Kelly, that is.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
And listen, I think Brian Kelly can coach. I don't
think he's a bad football coach.

Speaker 10 (24:30):
But there are some guys, you know, I don't think
it's a controversial statement. This was applied to Steve Sarkisian
early in his career seven wins sark right when he
was at Washington. You know, there's some guys who just
for whatever reason kind of get in their way and
can't get over the humps. With Brian Kelly, of course,
you know he's had success in his career, but now
this go around with LSU. Super curious to see how

(24:52):
that plays out, because quite frankly, yeah, you look at
Garrett's fier, you look at some of the guys on
the roster.

Speaker 5 (24:56):
They got dudes. But Brian Kelly's got to get him there.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
I have my question already said in my mind, and
I would ask Arge, what do you have to say
to people that say that you're unproven and possibly did
you get too much too soon? What would your question be?

Speaker 10 (25:17):
I would ask Arch that's a good you know, that's
a good question.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
Mark.

Speaker 10 (25:22):
I would ask Arch if I could ask him anything
at this juncture, I would ask him.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Just is this fun? You know, it's a question I asked.

Speaker 10 (25:30):
Quinn toward the end of his career, and maybe this
is something that for Arch, maybe it's a better question
to ask to, you know, one or two years down
the road. But guys, I don't think it's natural for
an eighteen, nineteen, twenty year old now twenty one year
old to get all the attention he's getting, right, you know,
one of my biggest the reason why Lebron James really
resonates with me as an athlete is he's been in

(25:52):
the public I since he was sixteen seventeen years old,
no major scandals, always kept his nose clean, always managed to,
you know, be on the straight. Now for Arch, I
just want to know is this fun? Because Arch talked
about it during spring. Yeah, it's not always fun that
you know. I can't go to dinner with my friends
and not get bother for you know, an autograph or
you know, if I want to, you know, I want
to go whop you know, harje Mark, you go down

(26:13):
to the wreck, you go down to the Greg Arch Askshun.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
Miller for the key. So I would ask him right now, Like,
is this fun?

Speaker 10 (26:23):
Because I wonder how much of that mark you carry
going into the football season, right, Can you just block
it out and it just be football?

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Yeah, it's gonna be an interesting time. We're talking to
Eric Henry of Horace two four seven. You can follow
him at Eric c Henry Underscore and Eric you got
an article that's up right now over at Horrace two
four seven talking about three things about this football team
on the offensive side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Some expectations there.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Obviously arch Manning is number one on the list, I'm sure,
but you also want to look at what is this
offensive line going to do? As feel still who we've
had on this week, make sure you get over to.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
The podcast page if you miss that.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Talked about Texas being his twenty sixth ranked offensive line,
So there's some growth that needs to be done on
that offensive line.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Yeah, yeah, you know, I'll give you three things.

Speaker 10 (27:15):
Harje quarterback and offensive line actually didn't make this list. Now,
of course offensive line is a concern, but three things
I think for this offense.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
You take a look Steve Sarkisian.

Speaker 10 (27:25):
For the four years he's been in Austin, Texas is
consistently ranked in the top thirty in points per game. However,
you remember the team he coached prior Alabama.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
That team scored north of forty five points per game.

Speaker 10 (27:35):
I think there's some people are wondering, can Steve Starkesian
take a Texas led team, a Texas offense to north
of forty points per game?

Speaker 5 (27:42):
In order to do that?

Speaker 10 (27:42):
I think it's three things. One, We've covered it ad nauseum,
and we're going to continue to cover it until they
cross over the hump short yardage, go line, red zone.
If you can turn those threes into sevens, that will
give you a couple a couple extra points on the board.
Downfield passing, I've talked about this one with you guys
on the show. A ton Quinn yours wasn't the greatest
downfield passer for his career. He was right around or

(28:04):
right right below excuse me, one out of three in
terms of passes that traveled north of twenty yards in
the air. Arch Manning and nineteen attempts last year hit
forty two percent of his attempts. That essentially our deep balls.
Can Texas be an offense that hits forty percent forty
five percent for point of reference, Dylan Gabriel, the elite
guys last year hit fifty five, fifty six, fifty seven percent. Right,

(28:25):
that can take the offense, make it more explosive and
last but not least, explosion in the run game.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
Contrave dun Wisner spoke about it in the spring.

Speaker 10 (28:33):
He was just trying to get the four or five
yards and hang on to the football, right, Yeah, guy,
he's trying to be a guy who I get in
the open field. I want to make a guy miss.
Jean Robinson, his last year at Texas, had forty five
runs of fifteen yards or more unsignificantly or not significantly
on right around the same amount of carries that con
Travon Wisner had last year.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
Trey only had nineteen carries of fifteen yards or more.

Speaker 10 (28:55):
So looking for some of those home run hitting type
plays in the run game, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
That's going to be big too, because of the fact
you got CJ. Baxter coming back. Christian Clark seems to
be ahead of schedule as well, So there's gonna be
some explosive plays there with that offense. Anything else, you're
on your docket for trying to get more information out
to these great people.

Speaker 10 (29:18):
Yeah, how about this so check it a little bit.
With basketball, try to keep up with Sean Miller in company.
As you guys have seen this week, they've officially inked
two Forum recruits. Lewis always Butcher's last name, I think
it's Obra Riah's Howards pronounced it, and they all als
pronounced And they just signed a kid out.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
Of Germany as well.

Speaker 10 (29:34):
The reason I highlight those two is because hard you
were there at Shawn Miller's intro pressor he talked about
three things high school recruiting, transfer portal and international. International recruiting.
Of course was not something you saw Tom Rodney Terry,
him being a textan through and through, really want to
work the Texas high school ranks. It's not that Sean
Miller won't do that. But when you get a kid
harj and Mark who's six' nine twenty. Five remember these

(29:56):
kids are over In. Europe they played pro basketball fifteen,
sixteen seventeen years. OLD i want to know how does
how do those pro leagues translate to THE? Sec is
this one can step in and Give texas significant minutes early. On,
so of course on the site all things, football but
definitely keeping an eye on basketball and of course baseball as.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Well, yeah no doubt about. It as, always, man we appreciate.
It and it's kind of. Funny i've always wondered, this,
like how is a guy being able to play pro
ball over, there but yet you could come over here
and play.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
College i'm, Like i've never understood.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
That i'm, Like i'm, like we got things backwards over
here so.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Much, man it's kind of.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Crazy but as, always, man Enjoy Lago vista and hang out.
There my, Boy ike, Said lago Think vista's second finest.
Second there you. Go BUT i appreciate, you, BROTHER i appreciate.

player got recognized for her. Talents coming up next right
here on the Morning kickoff On radio and thirteen hundred The.
Zone great stuff by our, Guy Eric henry Of horns
two four. Seven coming up at eight, seventeen Our legends
of The Locker room segment will feature one Lifetime. Longhorn Cedrick,

(31:14):
griffin will be joined in the show.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
To talk all Things texas and his.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Son is being recruited by a lot of schools, too
so we'll.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Check out all of that as.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Well but right, NOW i want to give you an
opportunity to win.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
A pair of tickets to go See Landy.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Wilson all you have to do is get over to
that pod not podcast, page but the iHeartRadio, app search
for a thirteen hundred the, zone tap that red, microphone.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
And leave the key word of the, day.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Moonshine moonshine is the key word of the. Day all
you have to do is do that and you'll get
a chance to win a pair of tickets to go
See Lany Wilson september the eighteenth at The Moody. Center
tom is running. Out we're getting closer and closer to,
it so it's right around the corner right. There also
one of its talk about this because yesterday the news came.

(32:02):
Out not only Did texas softball win the national championship
and still celebrate And i'm, sure but their best, player Rees,
atwood was named The Johnny Bench player of The year
as the top catcher in college. Softball she not only
does it behind the, plate she does it at the.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Play she led the nation with eighty nine.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
RBIs she's amazing when you start to think about her
numbers that she put up and being able to control
the pitching. Staff she batted three ninety three with thirteen
doubles forty one. Walks but more, importantly she was behind
the plate and she had a fielding percentage of nine
eighty eight with three hundred and thirteen, putouts eighteen assists.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
And committed just four.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Heirs she is the true meaning of what it's like
to be Like Johnny, bench Because Johnny bench was one
of the best catchers in the history of. Baseball and
when you can catch and and, dictate you know what
the other team, is what their players are not good,
at and the catcher's job is you, know definitely make

(33:12):
sure the picture, knows oh, this, now don't pitch him,
inside you, know like they got the scouting.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Report those guys have to be smart and then you
don't make. Errors. Yep on top of, that like that's we,
Needed we need more of. Those, yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
Solid she is definitely one of the best players in
the country and she. Is she's been doing it since
her freshman, year so she's been. Amazing and also going
back to The, Diamond Texas baseball with THE Mlb draft
coming up This starting This, sunday a lot of conversation
was going on about some of the players from The

(33:49):
university Of, texas and three of them decided that they
were going to stay at The university Of texas and
pool their names out of the. Draft left handed Pitcher Luke,
harris right handed Pitcher Max, grubbs and right handed Pitcher
Ruga riojas decided that they were all going to forego
the draft next this coming weekend and decide to stay

(34:12):
at The university Of. Texas big, Missus big news For
Texas longhorn fans and players Because Max grubbs was outstanding
last year with his. Opportunities Luke harrison was our number
two pitcher that got elevated and ended up having to
make some different. Things he was coming back and he
did a great job going five and one last. Year

(34:35):
so For texas to be able to keep those types
of players and bring in the ones that they got
into transfer, portal things are definitely definitely looking up for
The Texas longhorns baseball. Team you already Have Dylan, valentez
who Was freshman of The Year Baseball America's freshman of
the year he was all. FRESHMAN i, mean he did

(34:56):
everything coming out of the back end of the. Bullpen
but now he's going to it'll probably be a starter
in twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Six this kid is.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Amazing now we want to see if he can continue
to trend in that. Direction it seems like Coach slasenego
basically putting the framework together and, saying, guys we can win. It, right,
well you start if we have this and we have.
That now we're bringing in this like we just need to.
Jail and they got a bunch of left handed, Pitching

(35:27):
Like i've never seen a team like this with that
much left handed. Pitching and not only just left handed,
pitching they have experience left handed. Pitching and we don't
even know what's going to happen with the draft as
far as some of the high school kids that may
have an opportunity that will have an opportunity to go
to The university Of, texas But texas making, moves continuing

(35:51):
to apply, pressure whether it's on the softball field or
the baseball. Field texas has just reloaded everything when it
comes to. Baseball they lost eighteen players to the transfer
portal this, season but they fill them all up with
experience and guys that are gonna come in and make

(36:11):
an impact. Immediately RIGHT i was talking about this with
somebody else the other. Day baseball has changed so much
where everybody always talks about. This you can be a
little guy and do, this and you can be Like.
Altuve you were talking About altuve the other. Day But
i'm looking at This texas baseball roster as of right.
Now the catcher that they have that's coming In carson

(36:35):
tiny six three to. Twenty they're bringing in a left
handed pitcher from Wake forest six to, one two twenty,
five shortstop six to one From, stanford another left handed
pitcher six to four From Western. Kentucky outfielder six', to
two another outfielder, SIX four I mean texas. Sixty three,

(36:58):
excuse me they got a left hand and a picture
that's coming in six. To four they are getting. Big
guys does sound like football players. They're bringing they're bringing
in some big, old dudes and it's it's just the
times have changed so much in athletics that these Numbers
that i'm telling you about are big numbers because the

(37:20):
game has changed, the power, the pitching the, home run
the experience that a lot of these guys have because.
They're older the draft has kind of. Changed IT like i,
Just said texas had three guys pull themselves out of
the draft because they wanted to come back to college
and try to Help the University. Of texas and it's
happening all over. THE country, i mean it's, not new

(37:43):
but it is something that the time in. College athletics
that's why college baseball is so good right now because
there's so much it's not always youth. Being, served yes
there's some five stars, baseball players some, top prospects. Some
grinders but there's a kid that's gonna go in the
first round for the draft this weekend that's signed to

(38:05):
Go to texas and he's not Coming to texas because
he's gonna be a first. Round pick so the game
has changed a lot and it's gonna be real interesting
to see how this continues to. Play out our number
one is in, the books our number two is just around.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
The corner, Don't.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Forget cedric griffin will be joining us In our legends
Of The locker. Room segment but coming up NEXT, the
nfl we're gonna talk SOME more nfl wins and Losses
and we're going TO The nfc north right here on
The morning kickoff On SPORTS radio am Thirteen Hundred. The
zone welcome back to the morning kickoff right here On

(38:43):
SPORTS radio am Thirteen Hundred the zone and our.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Number one we Talked About.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
Devin booker run him his money as he gets paid
in outstanding amount of money, two years one. Forty, five
yeah that's some big time. Right there we also Heard
From dion sanders and leaving him with his salary cap
that he wants to put in college athletics, too late.

(39:09):
Not happening we also got a chance to Talk To
eric Henry of horns two four seven and We talked
texas baseball and Softball As reese atwood was Named the
Johnny bench catcher Of the year. Outstanding work coming up
in the, next segment we Got our legends Of The
locker room segment With One.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
Cedric griffin, that's Right.

Speaker 1 (39:28):
Lifetime Longhorn sedric griffin will be joining the show to
talk All, things texas, of course.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
But RIGHT now i want to get INTO The.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
NFC north a Place That cedric griffin did play WAS
The nfc north as he played For The, minnesota VIKINGS
and i want to start, Right, there mark Because the
vikings with O'Donnell. AND McCarthy jj McCarthy now is the
starting quarterback For The. Minnesota. Vikings unexperienced he's not experienced.
At all he's coming off of an injury, multiple surgeries,

(40:00):
mind you but all signs point to him being that,
to Me That justin herbert type. OF quarterback i think
he's going to fall Into That justin herbert where everybody
thinks he's got, this upside everybody believes he's, so good
yet he don't get the smoke that everybody.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Else DOES is.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
Jj McCarthy is he going to be the answer for
this team to have over eight and a half wins
or under eight and a? HALF wins i think it
would be over because they have so much talent around
them that he would have to be a colossal failure
to have less than, eight okay and be totally, in

(40:39):
that which he was not last season before he. Got
INJURED before i mean they had him listed as, a
starter they had. Him saying everybody was saying how he
was grasping the offense, so well and how he had
a Rapport With. Justin, Jefferson right so all of this

(41:00):
and then you get injured that that.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
It, sucks yeah there's no other way.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
Around it but luckily, for them They had dornell to
come in the wings and look like, a contract.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Got himself, a contract.

Speaker 6 (41:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Paid YEAH so i look at THIS and i look
at their ROSTER and, i, say, okay, Yes Obviously justin
jefferson he is the answer to. All answers if if you,
in trouble throw It up justin and go make a play.
FOR you i believe in that. As WELL but i
also look at their. RUNNING game i Believe In. AARON
jones I Think aaron Jones From el paso is one

(41:39):
of the most underrated running backs IN the NFL because
i don't think they give him enough love for the.

Speaker 2 (41:45):
For the style of play that. HE has i also LOOK.

Speaker 1 (41:49):
At, tj howkinson the, tight end another piece that is
going to be uh that should be used a. Lot
more they Brought In, jordan addison another guy that that is,
out talented so he to, your point he has enough
weapons on offense to be able to. Handle it they
Brought In jonathan allen on Defense, from washington another dude

(42:11):
with a chip on. His shoulder pissed off because they
didn't try to. Sign him they got. Good linebackers this
is a solid. Football team i'm gonna take the over
on them, as WELL because i think that they. Have
enough and if he can take care of the football
and not try to do, TOO much i think he's
gonna be just fine. Being THERE so, i too will

(42:33):
take the over when it comes To The. Minnesota vikings
it's good to manage the game sometimes until you acclimate
it and you can take a chance on being.

Speaker 6 (42:45):
A.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
Point, getter yeah like you become a Guy Like baker
mayfield for a guy that likes to challenge the ball,
deep man he manages the game. Very, well YEAH and
i think a lot of guys can can learn. From
that just manage, the game don't make.

Speaker 6 (43:02):
The.

Speaker 1 (43:02):
Mistakes yeah it's it's gonna be interesting to see exactly
how they run, their business so, to Speak but I'm
all i'm all. For it another big Name that i'm
looking at in this situation Is The. Chicago Bears The,
chicago Bears With ben johnson as their new, head coach
who did Magic, in detroit now has a Quarterback In.

(43:27):
Caleb Williams caleb williams is special. TO me I Think
caleb williams is getting a. BAD rap I Think caleb
williams is put in a situation kind of like what
we were talking About With. Ace bailey he was trying
to orchestrate where he did not want, to go and they,
were like, uh uh we. Drafting you we got The.
Number olympic we need. A quarterback chicago has not had

(43:50):
a franchise quarterback in a very. Long time they are
sitting at eight and a. Half wins i'm. Taking over i'm.
TAKING over i think this is a. SOLID year i
think the Relationship Between ben Johnson And caleb williams is

(44:11):
going to be one. TO flourish i also believe that
they too have some talent on that. Football team we
Talk About. Roshawn johnson we're looking at him coming out
of the backfield and what he's been able to do
in the. Short yardage you Also Have, DeAndre swift somebody
that can run.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
The football you have.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
Your guy you grafted, That guy coaston lovelin the. Tight
end YOU Got, dj moore A, dos a you, got
playmakers and now you Brought In, devin duvernet by.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
The way but you.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
Go and get, some guys and you went and shored
up the. Offensive line you went and got three different
linemen to help, your quarterback who all he did was
get picked up off the ground the. Whole time so
you now have what you've been. Looking FOR and i
think it's a big move. For THEM so i take
them over eight and a.

Speaker 2 (45:04):
Half ways i'm going to.

Speaker 1 (45:05):
SAY over, i mean you have an offensive genius as,
a coach and are you? Crowning them you Crowning It
ben johnson calling them an.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
OFFENSIVE genius i just need.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
To, Know okay i'm gonna show by Myself that i'm
going to. Ignore That just caleb wanted to Be Wanted.
Ben johnson he Lobbied For. Ben johnson he loved the
system of having the sprint option and the zone read
and the rollouts because it fit. His abilities if you

(45:38):
got a guy that's a genius at doing that and
proved It at detroit getting them double digit wins for,
two seasons.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Then yes you want to get. That GUY and i think.

Speaker 1 (45:51):
That he feels like he's a better quarterback than what
they Had. IN detroit i think athletically he's definitely better.

Speaker 2 (45:59):
Than golf yeah.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
For sure so like you put him in a system, he's, like,
oh MAN if i was in, that, System yep so
now you have that yeah more.

Speaker 2 (46:08):
Than, EIGHT okay i took the over. FOR you i
got over.

Speaker 1 (46:11):
As well now we Go To green Bay the packers
nine and. A half you're looking at this Team with
Lafleur And Jordan Love josh.

Speaker 2 (46:19):
Jacobs at the running.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
Back position you also have now You Drafted, matthew golden
somebody that can stretch the field to Be With romeo
Dobbs And jaden REID who i had last year. Fantasy
football but you still have to try to figure out
what you're gonna. Do defensively they got a solid defensive
squad that can make. Some plays but they're sitting at

(46:41):
nine and a. Half wins i'm gonna take, the Under
and i'm just gonna put them right at. Nine wins
i'm putting them at. Nine wins this is a talented.
Football team i'm not saying they can't. GET dubs i
just think that their division has gotten so much better.
This year it's gonna be a little bit tougher. Than

(47:01):
That so i'm gonna take the under. On that i'm
gonna go, Nine too so you're taking, The under i'm
taking the under.

Speaker 6 (47:11):
Any.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
ANY reasoning i think they have a.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
Lot of wide receivers that are middle of the road,
wide Receivers and golden is gonna get the lion's share of.
The throws but he's, A, rookie YEAH and i think
they're gonna ease him in rather.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Than throwing them To.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
The WOLVES so i would rather if they threw him
To the wolves and they were gonna get him, the ball,
you know ten targets, a Game then i'd, be, LIKE
yeah i think they could do win, ten GAMES but
i know they're not gonna.

Speaker 2 (47:44):
Do, that yeah it's.

Speaker 1 (47:45):
Gonna be it's gonna be an interesting year In the,
north BECAUSE like, i, Said obviously minnesota was one of
the better teams. Last year detroit obviously is the best
team in. That division chicago's gonna.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
Be Better.

Speaker 6 (51:16):
Doing?

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Good bro we're excited to have.

Speaker 1 (51:18):
You, on man it's been a MOMENT since i got
a chance to chop it up, with You and i've
been watching what you've, been doing and you're doing a
hell of a job with all these kids and making
sure that these kids understand the steps that they need
to take to get to that. Next LEVEL because i
was having a conversation with a buddy of, mine yesterday,
he said you know exactly where you've been and you

(51:39):
can see things around the corner that the kids hadn't.
Seen yet so tell everybody what you're doing and what's.
Going on, and said world.

Speaker 15 (51:48):
All, Real man i've been doing it for quite a.

Speaker 6 (51:50):
While.

Speaker 16 (51:50):
NOW man i started use training and doing little au
track training back in. TWENTY sixteen i moved out Here
In longo BIT and i started my. Own club It's
Called No. Short stars And also i'm also kind of
one of the head Coaches At. Faith academy it's a
little private school over There At. Marble falls so, for,

(52:12):
me man it's just kind of give it back to.

Speaker 15 (52:13):
The youth i'm a big track Guy and i'm not.

Speaker 16 (52:16):
A professional i'm not no, professional COACH but i have
a passion for IT and i love. Doing it it's
one of the FIRST sports i participated in and gave
me a lot. Of discipline so, for me it's just
kind of giving the kids some tools to kind of
be a. Better athlete and that's kind of how my.
Motto Is, All right i'm trying to build a better
athlete and get. Kids Faster so i'm doing that out

(52:37):
Here In laga vista and Out There.

Speaker 15 (52:39):
MAMBA falls i.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
LOVE it i.

Speaker 1 (52:40):
Love, it said is there anything that's better than seeing
the light switch come on for? A, KID.

Speaker 16 (52:49):
Man i think that's one OF the i think That's
why i'm, in it to be honest, with you because
that's kind of what happened.

Speaker 6 (52:54):
To me.

Speaker 16 (52:55):
YOU know i had some great coaches along, the way some,
great mentors and all it took is was that one
guy to say one thing to me and then everything
just turned on. For me so THAT'S why i. Do it,
so yes when a lightbulb turns on for some of,
these kids it's amazing to see. Their growth and, that's, Again,
Right mark That's why i'm. In it it's for those
light bulb moments.

Speaker 2 (53:15):
For sure what is what is the process that you,
go through uh to?

Speaker 1 (53:20):
Reach THEM like i do Kids CAMPS and i remember
you talking to my daughter and telling her just like,
harje hey let her be a dog because it's, my daughter,
You know i'm like trying to baby my baby man
and and hard and you both said the same thing, to, her,
like no go out there and be a killer if you.

(53:41):
Have to if that's what you need, to do and
that's what makes you, feel good and then go.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
Do it like what what is the processes that you
get to?

Speaker 1 (53:50):
A kid is everybody different or do you have a
standardized way that you Go, About No so i'm not.

Speaker 16 (53:56):
That guy i'm not going to put everybody in the
same box that because we're, all unique different and That's
how god.

Speaker 15 (54:01):
Made us so we got to get on.

Speaker 16 (54:02):
That level and, FOR me i DO like i literally
get on one need on all, my kids if they're six,
years old all the ways to eight, YEAR olds i
get eye level, to THEM and i like to. COACH
them i like to figure out what. THEY'RE about i
try to learn about them AND then i go. From
there so, for me it's finding out what makes a,
kid kick what makes a, kid go and then get

(54:24):
really really personal.

Speaker 15 (54:25):
With THEM and i do that with all.

Speaker 16 (54:26):
MY athletes i don't CARE if i have fifty athletes to,
Two athletes i'm gonna get on.

Speaker 15 (54:30):
That level i'm gonna talk to.

Speaker 16 (54:31):
Their parents i'm gonna talk to, you know talk to,
their coaches to, the Teachers and i'm gonna figure out
what that kid Needs and i'm gonna go. From there but,
for ME if I guess, i'm Gonna i'm i'm. Really
competitive and that's my model. Over, Here man we're we're
trying to be. Better athletes we're trying to we're trying.
TO win i know a lot of parents and, coaches,
say hey we're not, about winning we're. About development i'm,

(54:53):
about BOTH and i tell my kids the. Same, thing
right we're trying to develop you at the.

Speaker 6 (54:56):
Same.

Speaker 15 (54:57):
Time right but if we're out there on that track
or we're out there on in. The field we're trying
to win and we're trying.

Speaker 16 (55:03):
To dominate so that's that's my my message to kids,
and say we're out here trying trying to kick ads
at the end of.

Speaker 6 (55:08):
THE day i.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
LOVE it i.

Speaker 1 (55:09):
Love it we're Talking To. Cedric griffin you can. Follow
them what is this the great? Two three what's your what's?

Speaker 2 (55:16):
YOUR handle.

Speaker 16 (55:19):
I put that on, that man because, You know i've
Tried For, sedgi griffin but it's something Damn sitting griffins.
Out there, so Yeah uh wayanne MacGarrett Played the TEXAS
and i like the number, eight man so like, you
know he made, it GREAT so i called. It great
So THE great a two three and my Number For

(55:40):
minnesota bikings with number twenty three, As well So the
great eight two three fits me and that that's kind
OF what i put.

Speaker 1 (55:46):
IT for i, LOVE it i. LOVE it i wanted
to get Back to. Texas football you've seen you were
there for the, glory years you got a, National championship
you've seen what, it takes And now texas has kind
of transformed back to that time by bringing in your
Former coach Dwayne. And qina but not, only that the
way that coach sark has kind of embraced the past

(56:09):
and wanted all you guys to.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
Be a part.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
Of this how good do you feel every weekend watching
this team?

Speaker 16 (56:14):
GET after, i mean it's awesome to be honest.

Speaker 15 (56:18):
WITH you i love, bringing him bringing in all.

Speaker 16 (56:20):
THOSE recruits i love seeing that the winning tradition come Back.
To texas the atmosphere obviously right with the ads doing,
Over there so it's incredible to be honest. With YOU
so I haven't i don't really go to the football games.
OVER there i like kind of watching THEM. ON tv
i to get my. Own, experience YEAH so i gon,
to be, you know bothered. By people are me bothering?

(56:41):
Other PEOPLE so i like to sit back on. My
couch but. It's awesome i'm just gonna be honest. With
You so i'm ready for them to go all the
way and try to. Win SOMETHING because i. LIKE bragging
i like showing off MY new. T stuff i like
wearing my burnt orange every time in. A car EVERY
time i, WALK about i throw my hook, comes UP
so i bleed orange. For Sure so sarky is doing,
Over there it's uh it's. Pretty amazing so now all

(57:05):
he has to do is bring on the ship and
so that that's that's the, last question, right there no
doubt if you don't bring on, you, know hey it's
all for nothing at.

Speaker 6 (57:13):
The end of.

Speaker 2 (57:13):
The day so how can we? Read, you like what's
your social media handles and all.

Speaker 15 (57:17):
OF that i only got.

Speaker 16 (57:20):
One man I'm, on twitter so it's THE great a
two three Man And i'm I'm on twitter man because.

Speaker 15 (57:26):
It's it's more sports based.

Speaker 6 (57:28):
FOR me.

Speaker 16 (57:30):
I like kind of putting out quotes and stuff. Like
That I'm i'm i'm big on kind of. Being positive so,
everything else, you KNOW THE i G or i don't,
KNOW what I don't i don't even know what the
rest of, them, are man is not. For ME so
i LIKE to i like to be sports Based and
twitter does that?

Speaker 2 (57:45):
For me or?

Speaker 1 (57:46):
Excuse, me yeah well we Call. It twitter i'm gonna Call.
Him clay i'm gonna Call. Him clay that's. What with
so let me ask. You this your son is your
sons have been doing some outstanding work and getting. Some
recordition what's the latest on the recruiting trail and how
how are things?

Speaker 2 (58:04):
Shaken? Out well one of, my.

Speaker 16 (58:06):
Boys, swayed uh you know that that's that's my first
that's my.

Speaker 15 (58:09):
First born.

Speaker 16 (58:10):
You know he won state you know, last year and
this here, as well and the hurdles in the. Two
hundred so he's Off the arizona already and and that's
where he's at. Right now so he's he's out there
having a good time. SO far i can tell he's
loving it and it's just getting that. College experience so
his recruiting is done, right now so it's it's no
more me trying to blast out. His fam, he's uh

(58:35):
he's on his. Own now so whatever he does and
that from from this going.

Speaker 15 (58:38):
On is all.

Speaker 6 (58:38):
On.

Speaker 16 (58:39):
Him uh my, Middle boy cedric my. My, name uh
he's gonna be a scene. THIS year i think he's
he's taking a couple of Visits To texas tech for for.
SOME camps i think he's going Off To. COLORADO state
i THINK it's i believe this weekend. As, well uh
he's Been In. Texas tech so he's a little under recruited,
right now, but uh he got started late in. The,

(59:01):
game yeah but, you know he's my rise at the
end of, the day he's my. DARK horse i. Really
believe so like once he. Catches fire, you know he's,
six four, you know about one hundred and eighty five pounds.
Right now he's, a striker very very aware of. KID like,
i mean out of both, my BOYS and i don't
mean to say it, about sway he has the. Most
awareness said he does just about having football like you,

(59:23):
out there and because he started as, a QUARTERBACK and
i wanted him to, be quarterback but, you know he
wanted to follow dad and follow, big brothers so he
wanted to play safety in, the corner so that that's what.

Speaker 15 (59:34):
He did but he's.

Speaker 16 (59:36):
DOING well i THINK he i think he's gonna have
a big season.

Speaker 1 (59:39):
This year and he can't be mad at, that, THOUGH now, i,
mean man.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
That's nice i'm not.

Speaker 16 (59:45):
Mad, at it right but, you know as, you KNOW
as i always tell, my, KIDS man i can see
what y'all are going to be and at the end of,
the DAY and.

Speaker 15 (59:54):
I just wanted him to trust me.

Speaker 16 (59:55):
On that but he's developing into A Great Dv, and
I'M like, I said i'm not man at IT because
i LIKE the. dB position i like what we're. All
about and he has personality for a. Defensive back. As
well so and As COACH keen i, always, said right
he's one of those Big bad wilson in the middle
of the field and he will come. Strike you he
will go get the balls in. The Air so i'm

(01:00:17):
looking for big things out him this year.

Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
For sure, WELL said i know we don't talk as
much as we, used TO but i want you To
know i'm very proud.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
Of you i'll see what you're doing.

Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Out there continue the good work and continue to spread
that knowledge that you have out there because a lot
of times people take it, for granted but there's always
somebody watching you and always looking to try to find,
that knowledge and if you can bring it out of,
those kids that's the most.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Important part so keep up the good work and, much, Success.

Speaker 16 (01:00:44):
BRO man i appreciate just having me on to be honest, with,
you man. And listen as LONG as i got airing, My, LUNGS.

Speaker 15 (01:00:51):
Man i can. Walk around i'm gonna be with these
kids because.

Speaker 16 (01:00:54):
It keeps me young at the end of, the day
it keeps me knowing what's, going ON and i love, doing,
It honestly so it's a it's, a, Pleasure Man, SO
mark i.

Speaker 15 (01:01:02):
Appreciate it mike that's.

Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
What's up, all, right man, be, easy Man and i'll
get you back on again when we get closer to

New chicago two suburban youth baseball, coaches fires and.

Speaker 18 (01:03:16):
It all has to do with this video we're about to.
Show you it appears to show the coaches streaking on
a baseball diamond at an out of town tournament in
front of. Young Players jamon terry is Live In lake
bluff where the league took. Swift action but is this
the end of, The Matter.

Speaker 17 (01:03:31):
Tremont joe this appears to be just the beginning of,
this matter because the firing is just where, it starts
with the league telling us tonight that they are working,
with authorities mostly because the coaches apparently stripped down and
the presence.

Speaker 2 (01:03:47):
Of players oh, my god.

Speaker 19 (01:03:51):
Children can be heard laughing in, this video which shows
two men nude one sprawling over home page At The
new york.

Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
Baseball field.

Speaker 19 (01:04:00):
The video circulating the online shows the men on the
diamond bearing it all in the presence.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
Of children.

Speaker 19 (01:04:08):
The boys usually play here At This lake bluff field
And the. Northern suburbs they are members Of The Lake
Bluff Youth, baseball association a respected league which has been
around for. Seventy years but last weekend At The Big Cooper,
sound tournament, the coaches for reasons unknown and caught on,
this video decided to Go full monty on, the field
forcing the team to be disqualified in The local sheriff's

(01:04:31):
Department In New york state.

Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
Called in while it's.

Speaker 19 (01:04:34):
Not, clear what if any Action the sheriff's, department took
we do Know The Lake Bluff Youth baseball association board
says it's deeply distressed to learn about the recent situation
Involving The lake BLUFF Twelve U Blue Cooper. Sound team
we are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and
have contacted. Relevant authorities we will continue to support those
authorities and their investigations of. This matter we have also

(01:04:57):
taken immediate and decisive action by ti terminating the assistant.
Coaches involved.

Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
Clearly this is no laughing matter for.

Speaker 19 (01:05:07):
The league many parents Associated With Lake bluff baseball did
not want to. Talk publicly it's not clear if the
two assistant coaches are parents, or not but the board
says it works hard to protect the well being the
players and families and will continue to do so to
the best of.

Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
ITS ability i.

Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
Found a Lot of, AT first i. LAUGHED too i
laughed at the report because they kept a straight face
and they were serious. Reporting this but the serious part
of it hit ME when i thought, To, myself okay
they're in a public setting, around KIDS around, i mean
regardless of whether you're your kids or as somebody. Else's

(01:05:45):
kids it's just.

Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Not RIGHT and i don't care if you.

Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
WERE drunk i don't care if you were trying to
amuse each other or you lost a bet. Or whatever
you gotta have more cup hard to what, Say, you
yeah they're. In trouble you in trouble as somebody who
has Been to cooperstown for those baseball tournaments that have

(01:06:12):
a team that was in those baseball tournaments and understand
how it is a. Lockdown situation basically, with that it's
a bad look all the. Way around it is, an
awful awful situation for. Those coaches and there's nothing funny.
About that when you're dealing, with kids you're running around

(01:06:38):
stark naked thinking you're having fun.

Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
The home play with you.

Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
Junk out that's, the, Problem man and that is a
situation that they're gonna have a lot of explaining to
do when it comes down. To it they're gonna have
to explain. To do but they're going to be explaining
it from a sale Exactly hard like that's publican decency is.
One thing public publican decency with a minor. Is totally there's, a,

(01:07:08):
felony yes and you can go to jail seven.

Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
To, ten well here's, the deal and.

Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
You're going to be considered a pedophile that you are
putting yourself in a situation that is a no. Win,
situation yeah this is there was nothing fun about what
you just did as an adult because now you.

Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Are looked out as the coach of this. Youth organization oh,
My gosh.

Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
So now nobody's gonna want you around their, kids. Ever
nobody you can't there's nothing that you can say that
in a court. Of Law and i'm Sure that cooperstown
Because now cooperstown is being blasted all over.

Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
The wall it's a bad look. On them, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
Thank you now you've created this nonsense of a situation
that has Now Put cooperstown baseball in jeopardy because now
parents are looking at this, and saying this is how
this tournament is RUNG because i don't want the kids
have to stay in dorm. Rooms barracks it is not

(01:08:16):
like you are going to stay with your parents on
a road, trip somewhere like when you go with your.
Select team you stay on, the campus you stay.

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Right there i've had to.

Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
DO it, I know i know from experience that is
not a good thing for. Those people because now you.

Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Are you are. Not endangering, BUT yeah i guess you could.

Speaker 1 (01:08:37):
Say exactly, at, you yeah this, is exactly, Exactly exactly
and now they're gonna pay the consequences.

Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
For that and and, the, KIDS now i mean.

Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
You hear them laughing, and stuff but they don't know
the severity of it because. They're kids but those parents
understand the severity, of it and they know the opportunity
that is now there BECAUSE now i can press charges.
Against you, oh man it's a bad look all the,
way AROUND and i would like TO say i feel sorry. For,
them no they knew exactly what they. Were doing they playing.

(01:09:14):
That out that ain't just me and you have a,
some drink you're gonna. Go shrinking we're gotta Go. Shrinking cooperstown, come,
