is out on vacation for the next week or so.
To turn the keys over to us, I'm Eric Henry
of twenty four to seven Sports of Horns twenty four
to seven joining me. Is arguably arguably the hardest working
(00:50):
man in sports media. It is arguable you, though his
face says otherwise, the hardest working man in sports media.
Here in Austin, mister Corey Mose of KVE you and
of course we got super produced Marcus behind the scenes
making sure we don't burn down the house while we
got the keys turned over to us.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Money modes.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Good morning, sir, bro, Good morning. Brado's dis right, that's
what they say.
Speaker 5 (01:10):
Noa hard is working arguably arguably because you're also in
the market. So you know, they did a lot of
love getting shown around this morning. But uh yeah, I
work hard, but you work hard too, you bro.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Oh Man, listen, there's plenty of love to go around.
But I appreciate you jumping in here. While Mark is
out again, he will be back next week. Harj is
earned his Harge has earned some well deserved vacation, so
he will be back in a week or so with
plenty to get into on this feel good Friday, Corey.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
You know what time it is, man, You know what?
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yeah, I heard the rooster, bro, So I know, I
know it's agatting around football season when you're waking up
this early where you hear the.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Rooster crowing or whatever they do, whatever it's called. But
uh yeah, like it's it's time you can spell the
pigs and you know, now let's getting to that point.
You know you look at all the training camp videos
from all the reporters around the country. I love that
time of year though on my Twitter timeline or x timeline,
whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
To call it.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
But yeah, those videos, that's when you know, you know, okay,
it's getting back to the swing of things and we're
not too many saturdays away from another dk R cannon
blasted my ears off.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
So it is hard to believe that six months have
passed by.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
It doesn't feel like six months, I think because Texas
played so long into the season last year. Doesn't feel
like it. But the off season it's finally over. Texas
Football reports to camp on Tuesday, which means we likely
say likely, I don't want to give a date just
yet we have confirmation, but we likely will be on
(02:51):
the practice fields come Wednesday morning to watch the twenty
twenty five Texas Longhorned Steve Sarcasian entering his If your
plenty to get into as far as the Longhorn football team,
we'll save some of it from Mark when he gets
back next week. But I couldn't have Corey on and
not just get his initial thoughts, Corey, what are you
(03:12):
most excited about?
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Because I know there's plenty to be excited about. What
A excited about?
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Well before we get into like the football part. I
gotta have a question to ask you.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Though I didn't go to Atlanta or SEC media days
did not, So how are the wings?
Speaker 4 (03:27):
I gotta.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
It's seven o three in the morning and Cory up
my spot talking about Howard the wings. What Corey is
referring to is any of the Texas fans who have
made the pilgrimage to Atlanta over the past few weeks.
I see Marcus ize raised, just making sure we don't
get ourselves thrown off a terrestrial air Here the best
wings in Atlanta. They come from an establishment that you
(03:49):
wouldn'tssarily think of our wings.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, asked Lou Williams, the man who.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Broke the bubble during COVID protocol, the Blue will Lemon Pepper,
And yes, I will answer Corey's question. They are as
good as advertised. Hopefully next time you are in Atlanta
you will make the pilgrimage, because I've been left alone
to make the pilgrim so I hope you will join
us when we go to Atlanta in what November?
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Yeah, Yeah, definitely excited for that, and I'm excited to
try those wings for sure. I'm definitely down to go
to that pilgrimage. Wish you bro like, for sure they
look good on your story. That's why I asked. I
was like, no, I.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Know that they were phenom.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
That's that is a word you could use describe that
they were excellent wings and the fries also very good.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
To match as well.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
But yeah, Corey, you know you've been around this, around
this program for several years. Really, you know the duration
of Steve Sarksian's tenure. Yeah, now, entering year five, I mean,
what excites you the most? Because I don't know if
you feel this way, I know I do. You felt
as if Texas was a national title contender last year,
with of course the questions of what if you know,
(05:05):
how will Quinn yours fear? How will they replace the
wide receivers? How do you replace Jonathan Brooks' defense? Now
I feel like you have a second year of those
questions being answered that this is not a blip, This
is not you know, a flash in the pan, This
is sustained success in Texas does enter twenty twenty five
as a national title contender?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
What are you most excited for this season?
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Really?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
What are you most excited for to see when we
do get out to the Frank pinis field to watch practice. Yeah,
I think it's kind of leaning towards what you just mentioned, right,
How do these questions get answered? I always love, you know,
coming to the year, there's always these questions about how
this is this whole good feeling, and I.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Enjoyed the process of finding that out. You know, last
year it was kind of like the wide receiver room
with so many new guys. How does Quinn build that
chemistry so fast for this season? And you saw it
earlier with Matthew Golden. He was able to kind of
have that type of connect early in the season, and
of course in the spring game you saw.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
As the bond doing his thing.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
But uh, yeah, I felt like, well, I always feel
like these big questions heading into the season.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
We have the questions, but I feel if the team
already knows the answers.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
And so one of the biggest questions i'mbrated to just
figure out is is Ryan Wingo ready?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
You know? Is he ready to be the guy wide
receiver one?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Is c J.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
Baxter ready to go just like he was two years ago?
Will he split? Is it gonna be fifty to fifty
split with Trey Weisner or is it gonna be leaning
a little bit more towards trade because let's not forget
Trey is the only thousand yard rusher returning to the
SEC this season, and so do you hand him the
keys or do you let CJ.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Cook?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
You know?
Speaker 4 (06:42):
And the other thing on the defensive end, you know
who's going to be that new John A Roll?
Speaker 5 (06:46):
You know that star position that can also go outside,
that can play down to your field and then play
safety or be in the box, like is that a Gilbo?
Speaker 4 (06:55):
You know who takes over that role? Is that Kobe Black?
Speaker 5 (06:57):
You know, these questions that we won't least see too
we're out there at practice and even though we only
see stretching out practice, but anyways, at least we're out there,
you know, seeing a little bit of something who takes
those first team reps. But yeah, I'm excited for that
those questions to be answered. But then also with arch
arch Manning mentioned this during SEC Media Days, Uh he
(07:18):
talked about how he knows nothing except SEC football. I
think someone asked him about like, hey, when you were
in a Big twelve and Archer is like, well, actually
I was never in that. I was actually never into
Big twelve.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
And when he said that.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
I was like, oh wow, like this is kind of
getting to that group where they don't really know anything
but SEC ball. So how does that affect the play
on the field or does it? You know, those are
also something I'm excited to look out for this season.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
You know, it's funny you mentioned that. I kind of
touch on some of the things you mentioned it real quick.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
It's funny you mentioned that because for Arch, he totally
forgets his freshman year where he wasn't the big twelve
right his mindsets totally.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
I'm an SEC quarterback. This is where I want to compete.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
I will give you a question something that I am
looking forward to, and then also kind of to touch
on some of the points you raised there. And I
did gonna laugh, and he said, we only watched stretching. Listen,
Steve starts out there for an hour. Do you remember that.
I don't know if you were there for that. Yeah,
that's right, that's right. I didn't have an issue with it.
(08:20):
All right, You're talking about someone who covered a group
of five football for six years when you can watch
the entire practice, So I had no problem being.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Out there for an hour.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
There were some other members of the Texas long worm
beat who after about fifteen minutes we're talking about they
didn't put on enough sunscreen for this, They didn't need
adequately have themselves ready, all right, listen?
Speaker 4 (08:39):
Is crazy?
Speaker 5 (08:40):
Yeah, yeah, that's the only access we get for an hour.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
What but it's so good.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
I'm gonna get all these uv raised if I can
watch practice.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
But I'll give you the thing that I'm looking forward
to week one is this offensive line and really this
offense as a whole. Fellas you know, I'm always been
of the belief that defense tends to hit the ground
running faster than offense because, you know, offense, especially when
you lose a lot of players, it takes time for
things to come together, most notably with this Texas football
(09:10):
team offensive line.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Right four new starters.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
I understand you have a Cole Hudson who has played
for you, You do have a Trevor Gooseby who's played
for you. But the cohesion, Corey, all of it coming together.
How quickly can they hit the ground running between now
and August thirty? That is the number one thing that
I am most looking forward to on week one. But
(09:34):
you talked about Ryan Wingo, Cory and I've been on
this train for a minute, okay, and I've said it
here on the show with Harje and Mark, I've said
it on other appearances, and I we're up against the break,
so I'll say it quick and get your thoughts to
see if you agree. If Ryan Wingo had the same
amount of targets as Jeremiah Smith as Ryan Williams, he
(09:57):
would have put up similar numbers last year. This isn't
just my opinion. The numbers back that up. That he
was not the number one receiver in an offense. Those
two other receivers were Corey my bold prediction, and I
guess I should have saved this for the world's strongest take.
But maybe I'll come back to it in the eight
PM hour that Ryan Wingo will be mentioned with the
(10:19):
Jeremiah Smiths and Ryan Williams this year as.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
Texas number one receiver. Your thoughts, I totally agree. I
don't think they're the I don't think there's an argument
behind the fact that the last two years Texas has
produced first round wide receivers, and so what would be
the difference for them to not continue to do that.
It would be a tremendous breakdown of the offense, I
just don't see turkeys and letting happen. And you know,
(10:44):
to go back to your point just now, with the offense,
the line, and with the wide receiver room. What has
started done in the past when it comes to trying
to fill these holes or trying to fill gaps that
he feels like they're not ready to do is transfer portal.
He didn't bring anybody in except from mm mostly in
the wide receiver room, who's not gonna be whte same
thing with the offensive line.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
He didn't bring anybody in for them either.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
So he has trust and Ryan Wingo, and he has
trusting out in that offensive line room as well.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Trust in the offensive line room, trust in the receivers,
trust in Texas's recruiting. I remember, Corey, it felt like
about a week ago so that people were doubting Texas recruiting,
trust in.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Steve Star comedian and Texas football.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
All right, we are headed to a break the morning kickoff,
Mike Harge, Eric Henry Corey Bows filling in. Get the
daves right am thirteen hundred zone. Then we go ahead
and unmute myself here and try this again. Listen, I
know Hars did it. The other day, So I don't
feel bad. I know Hars did it the other day.
(11:41):
We're back more than Kickoff AM thirteen hundred, The Zone,
Mike Hardball, Hars, Mark Henry.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
The World's Strongest Man. Both of them are out.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Eric Henry of Horns twenty four to seven twenty four
seven Sports.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
And Corey mos kyview. Corey goes crazy, by the way,
Listen the playlist.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
The playlist, which is crucial, which is crucial.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
To a good show in my mind.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, just stressed me in for the next block.
You know, that's the talent, Corey.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
I know, coming off of the Texas football talk, I
want to dive into some of the broader Southeastern Conference landscape,
more specifically the Southeastern Conference quarterbacks, the position that we
all know is going to drive things in college football.
And I definitely when I had you in mind to
pinch hit for Mark, I wanted to get your thoughts
(12:33):
how you kind of see these SEC quarterbacks lining up, because,
as you mentioned, I was at SEC media days last
week and you couldn't really get a consensus, Corey. That
was the big thing on really I would say two
through five, you know, the there was a general consensus
that Garrett Nussmeyer is the best quarterback in the league.
(12:53):
I think you do have to give him that respect,
returning whether you agree or not where you think he'll
be at the end.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
But two through five you could not get a consensus
at all.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
So before we get to kind of just a quick rundown,
maybe the five guys we would take, I'm just curious
who is the guy?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
And you can choose Arch if you want to.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
But is there someone outside of Arch who intrigues you
the most that you think, Man, if this guy hits,
look out.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, I'm a big DJ Way guy. I'm not gonna
lie to you. I think DJs is that dude.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
I think he showed those splashes last season, especially in
the big games.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
The game that he got hurt. I believe that was
l s U correct uh the week before that Georgia.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
Yes, and he had Florida in that game, you know
what I'm saying. And so, yeah, I just feel like
DJ is going to have that breakout year. I think
this is gonna be a hot take.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
You know.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
If I'm just gonna say this out loud, but I'm
gonna say now, I'm saying yeah, in fact, but I
think that game against Florida this year and the swamp
is going to be more of a challenge in the
game against Ohio State, Like, I totally believe it. I
think Art having to go into that environment for the
(14:13):
first SEC road test as a starter, I think that's
going to be a challenge. With DJ Lagway not playing
against Texas last year, I know he wants to get
his lick back because he had to watch his team
get slapped around at dk R while he just had
a phenomenal game the week before.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
I think he's going to be motivated just as a
Texas kid.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
And so yeah, that game against Florida, I think Texas
fans should be more worried about that game.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Didn't want against Ohio State.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
But to get back to your point, yeah, DJ Lagway
is a dude that I really do think he's gonna
have a breakout year that people are going to start
putting him in that conversation of the best SEC quarterback.
I also got to see Leonora Sellers at the Man
Passing Academy this summer and that was a that was
a cool little experience because one, I got to see
the quarterbacks around the nation, but also just looking in
(15:00):
person with these guys, and now I see why it's
so hard to tackle Leonora's Like he's just built like
a running back, like it legit is, and so I
think he can also make that step next year and
be considered the best SEC quarterback at South Carolina.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
So yeah, those are two guys that I'm really looking
out for.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
And of course, like artist in that conversation, but DJ
and Leonora's are two guys I really.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Like a lot before I come back to your hot take,
because I have a strong DJ Lagway take with yours
is stronger than mine. I was actually gonna ask you
about Leonora's sellers, so I'm curious if you can expound.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
On that a little bit for the audience, because I know,
you know, I don't know about you.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Cooreosity Bolsos worked the same schedule on game days, more
or less worth the same schedule, so you know, we're
gett a chance.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
To watch what we can.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
But I had a chance to watch what was it,
l excuse me, it was yeah, LSU South Carola leave.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Yeah, that was the game had a chance to watch
last year.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
That's the one that really showed me, Like, Okay, Leonora's
Sellers is a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Than kind of just what I had in my mind.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Do you think he can be just because we had
a chance to see him at the Manning Passing Academy
down there in Louisiana, do you think he's a guy
that you know, maybe could South Carolina be a sleeper
team in the SEC because he has that type of potential.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Yeah, I definitely think they could be a sleeper team.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
If you have a superstar quarterback, like when you have
that in a college football round, that will take you
a long way because they will get you a couple
of wins, and those couple of wins can make you
a ten win team or eight win team, you know.
And I think that's the biggest difference last year South Carolina.
They just didn't win enough without Leonoris. Remember that LSU
game is a prime example. Leonori's got hurt. They had
(16:36):
the lead before Lenoris left the field and then they
lost that lead. So yeah, with that game, they would
have been in the College Football Playoff and we want
to be talking about it. If they were a French team,
we'll be talking about how can they return to the
College Football Playoff?
Speaker 4 (16:47):
So yeah, they have that, especially because of Shane Biemer.
Like Shane Biemer and his history.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
Of special teams and his ability to be able to
flip the field but also make those special teams important
Unlike some other coaches.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
He utilizes those punt blocks, he utilizes.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
Different kickoffs schemes, and I think on a college football
spear you don't really see that with with head coaches
being able to utilize the special teams game as much
as Shane Beemer does.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
And so yeah, I like chan Camut a lot.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
Yes, Leonoris, his arm is still a little in question,
of course has he taken that step.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
But I think you can say the same thing with Garrett.
That's my like when when you mentioned.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
Garrett, I don't know, like in the boot they love them,
they love the nuts bus, you know, but like watching
them practice, watching them go through the drills, he didn't
really stand out to me. And uh yeah, I just
I just don't see the hype around Garrett.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Not go lie to you. But maybe he proves me
wrong this year.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Well, I'll jump right into my top five lists because
I do agree with you. I don't want to, you know,
kind of repeat some of the same talking points you have.
You know, I'll send some of this sound to Marcus me.
We'll play it next week when Mark is back. Because
DJ Lagway was very confident when I was in his
scrum at SEC Media Days. The guy he reminds me of.
And I know this may shock some people, but Cam
Newton and I understand he's not nearly as big as Cam.
(18:14):
You know, DJ's about sixty two sixty three. Cam is
legit sixty six. But the aura, the feeling of whatever
game I am playing, I can win. I can guide
this team to a victory. That really stands out to me.
But my top five list will go number one, Garrett Nussmeyer,
Number two, I have Leonora's Sellers.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
Number three. I look over to make sure I got
my list correct.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
DJ Lagway, that's right now, that's at the end of
the year, right now. Number four, I have Arch Manning
and number five. I'm gonna put some respect.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
On this guy's name. I'm okay, diego Pavia.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
All he does is win. The guy guided Bandy to
a seven win year last year. That is my top
five again. I want to leave some time and will
be up against the break Corey go for it, the
King of Nashville.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
I like it.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
I like it.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
I like. I actually have a friend in Nashville.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
She goes up there from tom to town to see
her family and she says, every time she sees diego
out every time. I said, that's hilarious because he goes
out and then he goes out balls in the field.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
It really doesn't matter. But uh, Johatier, I'm gonna just
tut that out there. Okay, I think John mtteers the guy.
Yeah I am, I am. I think Washington State had
a track record. Now you can't deny it.
Speaker 5 (19:37):
Going back to Gardner Minshew like, they have a track
record of producing pretty decent quarterbacks. And so yeah, I
like Jamtier. He had the good running back in Jay
and Ott as well over there at Oklahoma. No Texas
fans don't want to hear that, but I mean, the
dude put up numbers until you gotta respect the numbers.
And he's one of the oldest guys that as you
see too, so I think that plays a factor with experience.
(19:58):
So you know, just maybe a little audible mention for Johnvttier.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
So John Mattier would be an Honora mention or would
he make your top five?
Speaker 2 (20:07):
He will replace who you had a five. Yeah, diego Pavio. Okay,
all right, but the rest of the list you seem
confident in.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
I like it. I do like it for show. You know,
I understand the nuts bus at number one. I get
it because you got to show respect. He won't be
number one by the end of the season. I promise
you that.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
I'll give you this if I were to give you
a name that I genuinely think, you know, not sleeping on.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
But it's not necessarily him as much as the team
around him. Taylor Green.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
I mean I was covering group of fives when he
was at Boise legit six six two twenty Texas kid.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
I just don't know about that team around him at Arkansas,
right you know.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Now, granted, maybe they come into Austin, maybe they make
a little bit of noise. I don't see that happening.
But Taylor Green's a guy I think you could possibly be.
You're not you yourself, but just the broader, comfortable landscape.
If everything comes together at Arkansas, I could see it.
You see that one or no?
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
I like Taylor just because of his physical gifts that
he has, man Like, it's crazy how he moves. Even
just watching his Texas last year had a couple of
escape runs and I'm like, how do you get out
of that? And so can he put everything together around?
Like you said, the talent, I just don't know if
they have enough talent, you know. I think the same
thing with ole miss I like Austin Simmons. That's another
guy saw at the Manning paston Academy. He looked the part,
(21:25):
you know, but that he have enough weapons around him.
So the other questions that will be answered this season,
but they definitely have the physical gifts to be in
a conversation.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Have the physical gifts for sure. Another guy who you'll
have to see how the pieces come together. Gunner stocked him.
That's another one as well. But again we will get
into that and so much more so. It's a little
bit of NFL talk In the next segment, Morning Kickoff
AM thirteen hundred, The Zone, Eric Henry, Corey moles Pin
chitting for Hardball Hards and Mark and we'll be back
(21:57):
Morning Kickoff, Hardball Hards, Mark Henry, Eric Henry Horn's twenty
four to seven Corey Mosy cave you pinch ed mos
What you know about that?
Speaker 4 (22:06):
That?
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Marcus Brons back in I'm just curious what you know
about them. I don't know much, Bro, I'm oh, oh
man the man right, Yeah, see this is why.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Yeah, I get it. I get it, I get it,
I get it.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
You know, Corey and I are roughly in the same
age range on the Texas beat, I still in the
big bro on this relationship. I got to put Corey
on a couple of things. But that's other conversation for
another time. Cory, I know when we planned out the show,
you wanted to talk a little bit of AFC North
swhich to the NFL because because yesterday is actually the
(22:40):
last Thursday that we are without football for a long time,
so it's fitting at NFL Talk make its way to
the morning kickoff, sir, your thoughts, Yeah, it's just.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
A couple of things. I just wanted to touch on, Bro.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
I just want to make sure I'm not crazy, you
know when I talk to people about different topics, especially
AFC North topics, because you know, I followed that division
a lot for some reason. I just I've always loved
the way that AFC North plays football. I feel like
they're just the prime of you know, rain, sleet, snow.
We're gonna hit you in the face, you know, like
(23:15):
you really don't matter what the weather is. Going back
to the Ray Lewis days, of course, the Steelers battles,
and you know, I'm a big fan of Mike Tomlin
as well. Now you guys shouldore in that division. And
my boy Todds Brooks shout out to the manor legend
out here in Austin, Texas. Uh And also some my
JP ryans back in Cincinnati Hendrickson grad so shout out
(23:37):
to him as well. But yeah, that whole division is
very intriguing to me. But there's one particular team that
I've had a grievance with throughout this off season, and
I've been talking to people and complaining to people about it.
I have a lot of friends that are Steeler from
Steelers fans, right and so they're front the Pittsburgh area
and they're they're on their high horse right now.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
They believe that, you know, Aaron Rodgers is the guy.
They believe that, you know, this is gonna get them
out of the whole nine to eight. You know what
I'm saying, tight beat that they've been doing the last
couple of years, barely being over five hundred and.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
I just I just like, when I look at this
roster and I continue to see what the front office does,
it's just so abnormal compared to the rest of the league.
And I just don't understand why they don't see the trend.
And when I say that, I mean this on the
defensive side of the ball. If you look around to
all the good teams in the league. We're talking about
(24:34):
the Eagles, you're talking about the Rams, talking about the Chiefs.
They don't spend money on defense. They get a what
or two guys. Let's say Chris Jones that's a game record.
Let's say Jalen Carter, who's gonna get paid whenever his
time comes up. A Jared Verse whenever his time comes up.
They're gonna pay those guys.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
But they're not paying the linebackers of the world. They're
not paying the corners. The Rams let Jalen Ramsey walk.
Don't forget that.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
They let him walk out the door because they know
they're going to invest in the offense side of the
ball with their money and stay young.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
On defense.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
The Steelers are complete opposite. They are let's spend all
the bread on defense. Let's go get Patrick Queen from Baltimore.
Let's spend bread on Jalen Ramsey, Let's extend TJ Watt
shut out Texas, but let's give an extension to Deshaun Elliott.
And they're spending so much bread on the defensive the
end and not spending any bread on the offense, and
(25:27):
letting Najie Harris walk, letting guys the left tackle walk,
and it's like, I don't understand where they're going in
the front office. And I get it, defense wins championships,
but it's a young defense that wins championships, not a
bunch of guys that are kind of past their prime.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Remember they pay Darius Slay, you know.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
So it's just a lot of money again, spent on
the defensive side of the ball that isn't really similar
to what the good teams are doing around the league.
And I just don't want to you know, I love
Mike Tomlin, right, but it's always been the offense. The
offense have always been the issue ever since they lost
Big Ben, And so I'm just I'm just disappointed at
the way that they've done this offseason, and I'm mad
(26:06):
that they think Aaron Rodgers is the answer, you.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Know, a couple of things in response, and I couldn't
help a couple of things.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
One, remember we are in Cowboys territory, and I'm sure
there are a lot of Cowboys fans who just wish
their team would spend over, just wish their team would
spend So there's that aspect of the place that aside.
You ever watched Corey on Cave, you you know this
great job him, you know Derenisha Heron, you know Jeff Jones,
the whole.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Crew out there. Corey can be a bit of a
of a of a sly guy there. So I saw
what he did with.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
The high horse there with Aaron Rodgers, because I agree
with you, Aaron Rodgers is usually on you know, his
high horse coming into whatever team he is. And no,
I mean to you to your point, I do find
the Steelers situation to be interesting. I think there's merit
to the point that you're making. Look at Cincinnati, right,
they don't want to pay Trey Hendrickson right.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
And also some of the quotes come out of since
he have been wild where the owner Mike Brown said,
you know, he could get hit by a car tomorrow.
So the way Bro Jerry Jones did Jerry Jones.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
You know, I listen.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I don't want to be ageists, but they just say
anything when they come to paying people.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
But I checked. It don't matter what I say. I
signed to check.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
I'll come back to a fy North of the second.
One of my favorite Jerry Jones quote. It came from
from last year. Comes from last year. Excuse me.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
When he's trying to.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Relate and he's like, why don't people who can't afford
a mansion live in uh uh? And he's been rich
for so long he couldn't remember a condo, an apartment, nothing.
He said, why do people who can't afford a bed
shit live in uh Uh?
Speaker 3 (27:47):
It's like, okay, he just he has no idea. But
we got after the AFC, we.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
Got a name for We got a name for good
old Jerry Jones. We call him the crypt Keeper. Listen
at this point, Jerry's earned it.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
And Corey, you were in the building when Jerry got
booed out of his own building at Jerry role when
the Texas Lawnmoares played in the Cotton Bowl and he
had to make his way into the pregame. But I digress.
Now you know the AFC North is an interesting division
when I look at it, right, I think, and I
do agree with you. Just quarterback play man, Joe Burrow.
(28:28):
We'll see what's left of Aaron Rodgers Lamar Jackson. Right,
it is an interesting division. But I guess I hear
what you're saying. But I kind of disagree in the
sense that with all the quarterbacks you have, someone's got
to stop him, right, Someone's got to stop Pat Mahomes,
Someone's got to stop Josh Allen.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
And I'm not saying.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Invest all your money and defense, but I think at
least you kind of have to go the other way.
It's like Philly playing power football when the rest of
the league decided we're gonna spread it out. All right,
we're gonna push, push, We're gonna get a bunch of
big offensive linemen, and we're gonna draft everybody from Georgia
and just say, all right, we're gonna maul you.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
Right.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
So that's that's kind of my pol you, Corey, I'll
let you bring a soon up against Bak.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
I'll let you bring someone is God give me your
thought on that, cause I kind of like going the
other direction as the other teams.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Yeah, I would like it.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
Too if they don't have a track record of being
bad on offense, you know what I'm saying, Like, that's
my biggest thing, is like, Okay, we get it. This
is just either culture. You've always been priding yourself on defense,
but at a certain point you gotta invest somewhere on
the offensive side of the ball. And they thought they
were investing a couple of years ago when they spent
the first round draft pick on Kenny Pickett. But again
(29:38):
it goes back to the factor of what do we
doing with scouting. We all saw Kenny Pickett wasn't the
first round quarterback, and so they're trying to push the
narrative of the Pittsburgh guy going to pit you know
what I'm saying. So, like I get there trying to
put people in seats, But at the end of the day,
you want to win football games, and I think to
do that you have to put up points. And yes,
Philly ground and pound, they did all that, but they
(29:58):
put up thirty plus points in and if Steelers aren't
doing that, so yeah, that's why I feel like they
got to spend their money and then in different pockets.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
All good points.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
That is Corey mose A Caview bringing the heat as always,
jam Packed eight Am hour, Got Hanks South of Horns
twenty four to seven talking recruiting, Chip Brown Horns twenty
four to seven, giving us the inside scoop when we

Mark Henry, the fellas are out pinch hitting for them.
Eric Henry of twenty four to seven Sports and Corey
mos of Caveview appreciate the super producer Marcus holding everything.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Down behind the glass.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
I love what he brought us in with Corey because
that is a natural segue. It's what I wanted to
get into on this feel good Friday again, jam Packed
eight eight hour, almost at eight pm.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Now it used to be up to Earl in the
morning eight am.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
It's a little little tricky for your boy here on
this jam packed eight am hour Got Hanks.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
South of Horns twenty four seven.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Of course, Chip Brown Horns twenty four to seven talking
all things Texas.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
But before we get to that, Corey, I knew if.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
I was having you on, I had to get your
thoughts Clips push your t no Malice formerly known as Malice.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
What were your thoughts on the album?
Speaker 4 (31:28):
Man? Because you know I have.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Strong thoughts on people, on people who you know at
a certain age. I'm not saying you can't do certain things,
but I think there needs to be.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
A bit of evolution.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
I'll just say that, you know, and listen, I'm all
for you know, that guy who bought his little ranch
down there in Aggie Land, that guy Drake, you know,
bought that ranch down in a land like anything that
keeps him off of my ear waves. I am happy
with that, so I cannot be mad at that. You know,
Drake might pop up wearing one of thows. You know,
I'm a non textan. What are those little suits?
Speaker 5 (32:01):
Though?
Speaker 4 (32:01):
But what it calls people the yell leaders? Is that
what they call? Yeah? Yeah, you might pap up being
one of them. You know what this?
Speaker 8 (32:08):
You know?
Speaker 2 (32:08):
But or your thoughts on the musical, lyricism, the musical
just you know, fire, I would call it.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
That was clips.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
Yeah, I liked it, you know, coming from a young
head like me, you know what I'm saying. You know,
I can I can appreciate and respect it.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
You feel me.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
Uh you talk about like trying to evolve and do
things that you didn't do in the past or you
did in the past, and then try to try to.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
Make things different nowadays.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
Make it tired of listening to the same type of
flow or be I didn't you know what I'm saying.
I appreciate that they're just sticking to them to their
guns and they know what's good, and what's good is
what they created. And so I liked the album for sure.
Now I would be lying to you if I said
I didn't listen to it more than three times, you know,
or I did listen to it with three times.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
I've been on that give on not allowed to you.
I've been on that givey on.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
Heavy that he also dropped the album the same week,
and so those have been the two things I've been
running back.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
And so, yeah, I like the Clips album for sure, though,
But have I ran back and listened to it I've
allowed to you. I haven't, Marcus.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Let me let you in on Corey a little bit,
all right, because Corey, you know what will do as
part of the Texas beat. Right Whenever there is a
reference that he is too young to get you know,
his laugh. It'll be like, you know, I got it right,
and then and then and they Usually usually.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
It'll be imagine caught that though, usually you that.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
Usually usually it'll be set Golden or someone who will
be like, you know, Corey, you know what we're talking about.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Cory Black.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Now, I no clue, no clue.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Sorry, But the reason I mentioned that is I like
how you snuck in, you know, being the young head
of the group. You know, I listen, man, I just
turned thirty four. Man, I'm not that old. But but
in comparison to mister mos He, that's why I got
the little squint in his eyes right there, why I
got the little squint. It's okay, it's okay, hey, Corey.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
I hate to do it to you.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Marcus can probably attest coming home. It ain't that too
far from you, baby, Ain't that too far for you?
That do rag gon be covering nothing?
Speaker 1 (34:14):
It's like.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
Chala, put that on me. Do not put that on me, Ricky, Bobby.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
If it gets to the point you just gotta go
and let it go.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
Hey. And it's a lot here, all right, that is odd.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
We finally get a host on the show with Hard.
He's covered up and he's covering it up.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
It is funny. It's funny because the.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Funny the folks subjected to Mark and Hard. You know, listen, Mark, Mark,
Mark Haddy. You know Mark had it right for a minute.
You know he had the he had the little dreads.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
You know.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Granted, you know, I don't want to put myself in
trouble on Mark show, so you know, we'll just say
he had the dreads.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
We'll say he had the dreads. How about that?
Speaker 2 (34:58):
And I wonder what Hard got back in the day
in his baseball days. You have the high top, you
have the gumby. I'm curious what harj Ass. I'm wondering
if he get the old school Jered carl Oh did
have the Jerry I forgot. Hars did post a picture
of him looking like slim from the wood with the
Jerry Oh?
Speaker 5 (35:13):
He did?
Speaker 4 (35:14):
He did? He did.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
I'll be real quick here with my thoughts here on
this one.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Now, listen, you know what I was saying in terms
of age Corey is like, I don't want to hear
Jay z rap about the stuff he was rapping about
in his twenties, right, because that's not the life you live,
we see you.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
On the yacht, we see you with Beyonce, you know,
a Texas.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
Fan by the way, as best I understand. So with
with with Clips, I love the album because I love
the energy. But at a certain point, it's like, come on, man,
we're fifty y'all, fifty years old.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
What are we doing.
Speaker 7 (35:48):
How you're gonna be talking about griming and you're sitting
there on a driving a push.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
That's That's all I'm asking, Marcus, That's all I'm asking, right.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Like, go ahead, go ahead, Okay.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
So my argument though, is still like people always talk about,
you know, boys change.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
I can't relate to them no more. So then when
they trying to relate, you know, and now it's a
bad thing.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
So I get they not living a lifestyle, but they
just trying to relate to the common listener, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
So can I bash them for that?
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Let me put it to you like this, because this
is my perspective on it. All right, Corey, when you
were grinding, you know, grinding. They're in Midland, Texas, right,
shout out four three two, And if someone from New
York City right or La or you know, a top
five sports mark in the nation. Try to say, Corey, man,
I feel you, bro, I empathize with you. You're going
(36:42):
to be like, no, you don't empathize with this thirty
thousand dollars check. You don't empathize with me the One
Man Band, you know what I'm saying, Like that would
be like if Stephen they came to me, it was like,
I empathize with.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
You, Like, no, you don't, No, you don't.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Okay, I give you that.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
I definitely give you that. Yeah, I give you that.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
You got a good point there. That would piss me
off the show, that would You're right, you got me?
Speaker 5 (37:03):
Okay, Okay, But you know, isn't it cool though they
just here pusha to hear you know what I'm saying,
Like it is cool.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
To hear them do their thing like it was back
in the day. But uh yeah, Like I get your
point though, I really do.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
And Corey, I'll say this as we're up against the break,
I'll say this real quick. I think my my feelings
on it may be skewed because Marcus knows this. I
kind of joked up with it yesterday when I was
on with harje I got to stop, you know, being
adventurous over on Riverside. Man, I got sushi off a
Riverside dog I had, you know, I got a when.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
I first hew to Austin.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
You're playing with Austin.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
When I first moved to Austin, I went and got,
you know, like a little massage if had a massage
place off of Riverside.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
Those were not good ideas.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
But I was listening to clips when I went over
to Riverside, So maybe my whole feeling is just skewed
on things that listen.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Hey, fellas, I'm not from here, all right, I'm learning
on the fly.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
I need I need the ogs.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
I need, you know, Mark, Marge, Marcus, Corey, everyone.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
To keep me on check.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
But that's another story for another time again. Jampacked eight
Am Hour a tune to Chip, Round Horns, twenty four
to seven, Hands South Horns, Whiny Our seven talking all
things Texas Football.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
Will be back, and thirteen hundred Zone The Morning Kickoff.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
It indeed is a feel good Friday morning kickoff. Mike Harball, Harje,
Mark Henry Pinch hitting for the Fellas, Eric Henry of
twenty four to seven Sports, Corey Mose of Kview, Welcome
to the eight am hour, we'll get back to the
Texas football talk with of course the Longhorn set to
(38:40):
take the practice fields next week, as the team will
report for camp on Tuesday. Corey, I know in the
seven am hour we talked about what we're most looking
forward to. Something I should have mentioned in that hour is,
of course looking forward to the opportunity to talk to
the coordinators. Get one shot to talk to those coordinators,
Steve Sarkisian coming from the Nick Saban coaching tree.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
Cordon has not been available during the year.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
You get one shot, So I'm definitely looking forward to
that most definitely. But at the eight am hour, I
want to get into you know, your biggest concern. You know,
we talked about what we're most looking forward to, biggest
concern around this Texas football team. I know what I
said I was most looking forward to was the offensive line.
(39:27):
Ironically enough, Corey, that's not my biggest concern I have
other I won't say things other fastest of this football
team that week one or I should just say maybe
the three week. The entirety of the three week training
camp I will be keeping my eye on. But I'll
turn over to you first. What would be the thing
that you say, Huh, this is the thing I want
(39:48):
to keep my eye on because I think it could
play a factor with this football team, not only just
August thirtieth at Ohio State, but the entirety of the
football season.
Speaker 5 (39:57):
Yeah, I would say the biggest concern for me is
ammunication on the back end in that secondary. You know,
that was the biggest thing last year that we talked
about what's set Texas's secondary apart when we talked to
jah D, when we talked to Michael Tapp, when we
talked to mccooba, they.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
All mentioned communication. We've been playing with each other for years,
or we've known each other for years, I should.
Speaker 5 (40:18):
Say, And the communication was just so easy to them
when it came with Michael Taff in the back end
communicating to mccoopa and Muhammad and Barren. But now this year,
Tathan got his boys, and so is he still able
to communicate the way he was able to Will they
get it? Will Julie McDonald get it the way that
mccoobah got it?
Speaker 4 (40:39):
Right?
Speaker 5 (40:39):
Well, Manny Muhammad get it the way that John A
got it. You know that noted the things that I'm
interested to see, especially with so many new faces in
that back end, and so will the communication stay the same,
because remember it wasn't too far ago when Michael Pennock
sliced some boys up in the secondary, and so yeah,
I think that's something I want to definitely look out
for this season when it comes to communication and coverage bus.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
Folks, I promise you, those of you watching us on Facebook,
on Twitter, on YouTube, we did not plan this, even
though it looks like we planned the same out. What's
wearing our free Sugar Bowl hoodie? Shout out to the
fine folks who plan the Sugar Bowl. Hey, the media
gifts have been on point the last few years. Sugar
Bowl hoodie. I got the Cotton Bowl book bag that
still works great for me. Media gifts, but we did
(41:26):
not plan this. I have the same concern, Corey. I'm
so glad you mentioned this again. I will get some
sound for next week when Mark is back, because it's
the question I asked Steve Sarkisian, what are your concerns,
your thoughts on the communication in the secondary? Corey did
a great job outlining it. How many times did we
(41:47):
hear during the twenty twenty three season we would ask
John A. Barn or Ryan Watts or you know, Michael
Taff or Jaron Thompson, what are the issues with this
pass defense?
Speaker 3 (41:59):
What are the issues with the secondary?
Speaker 2 (42:01):
Because we know the talent was there on that team,
but for whatever reason, teams games that should have been
put away TCU others.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
Houston ended up being a close game.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
Oklahoma teams threw their way back into ballgames. And the
answer we always heard two things, communication tackling. I can't
tell you the amount of times I heard Jaddy Baron say, oh,
he's got to communicate. Be it's got communicator. So, as
Corey notes, how do you fix the communication? Well, you
go get guy a guy I should say, who is
(42:38):
a childhood friend of Jahde Baron and Michael Taff and
Andrew mccooba, all of the you know, bonding off season communication. Right,
how many times do we hear Corey oh man, you
know the communication we had on the field that was
built in May, that was built in June.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
Right, Well, you have guys three guys five one.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Two natives who've been communicating from the time they were
seventh eighth grade. Right, So you've solved that problem. But
as you said, and I've written about it, and I
can't emphasize it enough. What do you do when two
thirds of that combination is gone? Right, Corey, I am
going to be super interested to see because listen, I
(43:20):
think Petkukowski is one of the top defensive coordinators in
the nation. A lot of respect for him. I think
Dwayne Akina is not going to stand for communication errors
in the secondary. I think Mark Orfey is going to
do a good job with his unit. But Corey, we
have no real reason to believe that the communication issues
(43:40):
that plagued this team in twenty twenty three will be
solved in twenty twenty five without the presence of that
five to one to two trio. A trio, Corey, that
you've covered extensively, whether it's been your store's band performance,
whether it's been you were at Jaddey Baron's draft party.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
I mean, you know the group, You've talked to, these guys,
you better than anyone can speak to the natural you
know kind of cohesion these guys have. But how do
you fix that? And I'll be this real quick. I'll
say it's real quick if I pass it back to you.
I was really impressed with Steve Sarkashan's answer when he
said they had to put a muzzle on Michael Taff
(44:17):
because my assumption naturally was, okay, well Taff will just
pick up the mantle. He'll be the leader in the
secondary and everyone else will follow. But what Steve Sarkashan
is saying is no, I want those other guys. I
want Jelani McDonald, I want Warren Roberson, I want Manny Mohammad,
I want you know, Derek Williams. All those guys to
find their own voice so they know how to communicate.
So God forbid Michael Taff is in the ballgame. We
(44:40):
got other guys who can communicate. Corey your thoughts.
Speaker 5 (44:44):
Yeah, yes, what you just said. Love everything you just mentioned,
because start is totally right. You don't want to depend
heavily on Taff because he will do it like he
will be the guy to be like, yeah, I can
take care of all of it. But like you said,
one injury away, now you lust your signal caller, and
so you know, not wishing that upon anybody, but you
just never know with this, with this game. And look
(45:04):
at Derek Williams. You know that's another guy. I'm glad
you mentioned Derek by the way, because I like Derek
a lot. No one's really talking about Derek. But I
feel like, let's look back two years ago. We're talking
about a freshman who was taking snaps away from Jaron Thompson,
a freshman who was taking snaps away from Michael taff
He was in that rotation and so I don't want
to And then before he got hurt against Oklahoma, he
(45:27):
caused a fumble and so like, those are the type
of things that I just feel like people are really
talking about Derek Williams a lot. It's a lot of
just a lot of McDonald's conversations, which we get it,
like McDonald has a lot of hype around him. But
Derek Williams he produced already on the field, and so
him coming back will be a factor as well. But
to answer what not to answer question, but like a
(45:48):
little caveat to what you were talking about, one thing
that kind of gives or should give Texas fans peace
in this whole situation for our concerns of the secondary
is I feel like they're not going to have to
cover as long as they're used to because I think
on the flip side of this whole conversation is that
that pass rush is going to be different this year.
(46:09):
With Colin Simmons taking that next step, you're bringing up
Brad Spence, who rushes the passer. And I think something
that coach Tarqisan mentioned at the Texas High School Football
Coaches Association was intriguing to me was with Trey Moore,
now he's in the stand up back or role more
and more. Of course, we not trying to do a
play on words, but more is now doing more as
(46:32):
a stand up backer, and you know he's not just
strictly a designated pass rusher, which to me provides versatility.
Speaker 4 (46:38):
We saw that towards the end of the season.
Speaker 5 (46:40):
Last year and you saw how much it helped out
Trey to provide more production.
Speaker 4 (46:45):
And then you throw on aunt Hill.
Speaker 5 (46:47):
Of course, we already know what he can do when
it comes to Russian the pasture and moving him around
the line. I just feel like not a secondary gets
a little bit of help with that pass rust this year,
and hopefully that can amend any of those communication issues
if there are any in the back end, because they're
getting to the quarterbacks so fast.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
For those of you listening, I just did the point
to head gif when Corey mentioned the pass rush, because
I think that's an excellent point in terms of not
having a cover as long. Right, that's one thing that
Texas in twenty twenty three. For all the things we
can say about how good that defense was against the run,
they got to the quarterback, but not a ton, Corey.
(47:27):
Now you have a guy like Anthony Hill as a junior,
a guy like Colin Simmons as a sophomore, Brad Spence.
There's so much meat on the bone we can dive
into tray More because I actually am going to ride
about this for the site next week. When I covered
you know, for those who don't know, I covered Group
of Fives. I covered Conference USA, so I covered the
league that tray More played in prior to getting to Texas.
(47:51):
I never saw him do a ton from a stand
up backer position. Now what I did see him do,
Corey is, you know, sometimes you'll see your edge rushers
instead of getting in that three point stance, they'll kind
of stand up off the edge. I've seen that, and
that could be you know, kind of how you would
see that old school three four linebacker rush as that
fourth rusher. Right, maybe there's room for him to do that.
(48:13):
But I do agree with you that that's an excellent
point in terms of the pass rush. I do want
to bring it back to this in terms of the
secondary and I know you said you're happy that Derek
Williams is getting mentioned. I think this star position there's
a lot of room to talk about this during fall camp.
Does Jalen Gilbol make the move to outside corner like
(48:35):
Jaddy Baron did? Does he stay at star? Personally, I'm
a big fan of a guy who plays the star,
a bigger player north of six feet. Of course, Jade
wasn't north of six feet, but he played physical. He
played bigger than his size. Right, Who can play in
the runfit? Who can be a guy who you know
makes fifty sixty tackles but also has the ability to cover.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
I think Mark Williams can do that. I think Jelani
McDonald can do that.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Although Michael taff Is pretty much said multiple times we'll
see if it's true or gamesmanship that Jolna McDonald will
play next to him at safety and I'll give you
one more name.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
Again, it's early, but I think he could do it.
In the Star. Jonah Williams a guy who's sixty three, two.
Speaker 2 (49:19):
Hundred and eleven pounds his size being a big dime linebacker.
I feel like he could do it at the Star
as well. So plenty to look out for next week
when fall camp opens. Corey Mosic Caview, Eric Henry twenty
four to seven Sports. It is the Morning Kickoff, Pinch hitting,
Mike Hardball, Harge and Mark Henry.
Speaker 4 (49:39):
Up.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
Next, it'll be Hanks South of Hoorn's twenty four to
seven sports Man Gender, talking recruiting and all things Texas football.
I did it again, Marcus. My apologies. That one's got
to be a fine, That one has got to be
a fine. Morning Kickoff, AM thirteen hundred, The Zone, Mike Hardball,
harj Mark Henry, Pinch for the Fellas, Eric Henry of
(50:02):
Horn's twenty four seven Corey.
Speaker 3 (50:04):
Mose of Cave View.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
We're joined by a special guest talking Texas football. He
is the managing editor of Horn's twenty four to seven
and Hank, Do I have it correct?
Speaker 3 (50:18):
A Westlake alum?
Speaker 4 (50:20):
Is that correct? West Lake Shops? Oh? No, there we go.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
He is Hank South of twenty four seven Sports and Hank.
Let's dive right into it. Corey and I have spent
the majority of the show talking all things Texas football,
what we are looking forward to, what we are concerned
about in anticipation of camp opening next week. Just want
to open the floor to you. What's one thing that
(50:46):
you were looking forward to most looking forward to and
one thing if you had to say there was a concern,
what would that be.
Speaker 8 (50:53):
Yeah, I mean, I think everybody's just looking forward to
football being back. You know that we've heard so many
you know, good things about this team, whether at SEC
media Days with Sark saying it's the most talented, you know,
the deepest defense he's had, you know. I'm I'm excited
to see how that unit looks with the new transfer
portal additions from from the spring, whether it be a
(51:15):
defensive line or you know, even guys we didn't good
to see much of, you know, in the viewing period
in the spring from the January window. So I'm excited
to see the defense out on the field. I'm excited
to see Jack injuries. You know, we saw him join
the class in April. Obviously you know, didn't go through
the spring practices with the team, but excited to see
(51:35):
kind of his chemistry with Arch Manning, how how that
how that relationship is working in that connection. You know,
one thing, I think anybody that follows Texas football or
you know, you know fans, would say it's just man
kind of just bracing to get through the fall camp
without you know, devastating injuries like we saw last last
August with with C. J.
Speaker 4 (51:57):
Baxter and and Christian Clark.
Speaker 8 (52:00):
So you know, I'm curious to see, you know, do
they change anything and and you know how they go
about how physical it is. I mean, you gotta you
gotta tackle in practice it you know, Sark's not you know,
he doesn't shy away from that.
Speaker 4 (52:12):
He wants to be physical practices so they're ready for games.
Speaker 8 (52:15):
So I don't know how much you can change, but
you know I would just you know, four weeks of that,
you know, you kind of just kind of brace a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (52:23):
So that's what I would say.
Speaker 8 (52:24):
I'm kind of you know, concerned about beyond that, you know, uh,
And I think I think they're gonna be fine here,
but you know, I'm kind of curious to see how
wide receiver pans out with with with this group. You know,
there's not as many you know, surefire. I mean you know,
they have their their guys. You know, they're one and
two with with More and Wingo. But you know, the
(52:46):
last few years it's kind of been a more clear
cut or even last year, you know, it was just
so deep at the wide receiver position. It was just
you know, how many guys can get they get involved.
This year it's more you know, Wingo, DeAndre Moore. Okay,
after that emit Mosley Parker Livingston, Like, where are they
going to go? How are they gonna you know, draw
this some of this stuff up. So I'm curious to
(53:06):
see that as well.
Speaker 5 (53:08):
But yeah, I'm gonna say, Hank, while we have you here,
you know, I'll be remiss and not talk about recruiting
for a little bit pasion. So I'm definitely intrigued with
the landscape of what Texas has been doing recently. And
I know Steve Sarkiiton talked about this at the Coaches
Association meetings, but he mentioned how he felt like in
the past Texas kind of focused a little bit too
heavily on the.
Speaker 4 (53:28):
State and now his staff is branching out, going to California.
Speaker 5 (53:32):
Now we saw in Florida with now Barry Cooper and
that signing and the commitment, I should say. And so
your thought process on why Texas's brand or just Texas
As the whole has been able to make so much
airwaves throughout the country and not just in the South.
Speaker 4 (53:49):
Yeah, you know, I think a couple of things.
Speaker 8 (53:51):
You know, Obviously winning that that kinda that that opens
up more doors for for them around the country. I
think Texas has always been a national brand. A lot
of the kids these days, it's kind of it's crazy,
like all these kids don't even know who Vince Young
is anymore. So you're kind of outside that era of
like we can kind of fall back on that a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (54:07):
Now.
Speaker 8 (54:07):
It's like these kids know b Jean Robinson, these kids
know you know Quinn, Youers, you know other guys. So,
you know, winning certainly helps. I think the move to
the SEC helps. You know, kids want to play in
the SEC, in the Big Ten. They want to play
where you know the most guys are getting drafted from.
So that has certainly helped. But you know, I thought
what was interesting Stark said, was, you know, because he's
(54:30):
at the Coaches Associate, the Texas High School Coaches Association,
so it's like, you know, you got to kind of
have to like walking a tightrope with like, yeah, we're
recruiting nationally, but hey, we love your guys too, which
they do. And you know, he was talking about, you know,
the need to kind of recorral the state, and he
said he's kind of he talked about, you know, you're
not gonna sign everybody from the state of Texas.
Speaker 4 (54:52):
There's just too many good players.
Speaker 8 (54:53):
You just can't physically like do that, so you know,
but he he did talk about wanting to crawl it better,
maybe make a little bit more of an emphasis in
the next twelve to twenty four months on keeping the
top guys home, And I thought it was interesting, you know,
he was he wasn't even talking about just necessarily keeping
them at Texas. It was just more like, hey, we
want the top high school football players in Texas to
(55:14):
state in the state of Texas, whether that's A and
M Texas Tech TC like the in state school. So
I thought that was really interesting. But yeah, you know,
it's certainly a balancing act where it's like, yeah, you
need to make sure you're you know, you could sign
your full class from from the state and probably be fine,
but you know that they you know, they go out
and what Texas says a lot of the times is like,
(55:35):
they don't go out of state for a recruit unless
they see first round potential in him. That's how they
recruit out of state. And I think that helps them
a lot because that's what they tell kids.
Speaker 4 (55:44):
And you you know, you look at it.
Speaker 8 (55:46):
A lot of the guys, you know, especially now in
Florida A Derek Cooper, JJ Johnson d bel obviously is
now the number one quarterback in the twenty four seven
Sports Compositive. Those are kind of first round projection type guys,
so a lot of a lot of factors go into it.
But but yeah, I did get the feeling that he
wants to kind of re establish the in state, in
(56:06):
state guys, especially with this class. You know, you look
at I think the majority of their official visitors in
the summer we're from out of state. So you know,
they had their they have their big in state targets.
Whether you know the guys that have on board now,
you know, they went for Felix Owger, they got John
turned time, so they are focusing on the state. But
it does seem like a little bit more out of
state in the twenty twenty six cycle.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
Specifically, Hank, I want to ask you this, and this
may be the last question we can sneak in here,
but we had this conversation on a different platform, I hope,
and you can bring it here. Could you talk about
just the importance of not only recruiting outside of Texas
because you talked about the need to re establish Texas,
(56:47):
but we talked about recruiting South Florida and what that
can mean for the program. You know, getting a DFBL
from American Heritage, getting a Derek Cooper from Ashamada Shamadad
and Madonna. Excuse me, he just talk about me maybe
the importance of what that could mean long term for
Texas football if you can establish ties in South Florida.
Speaker 8 (57:07):
Yeah, I mean I I go back to my time
covering Alabama. It's like when Alabama and Alabama still is
obviously a really good team, but when things were really
going well for them, they were recruiting South Florida really well.
And that was back when Mario Cristaball who's now the
head coach of Miami, what was the area recruiter for
South Florida.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
It was like, if he's going.
Speaker 8 (57:25):
Down there, like they're not missing on a kid, whether
it's you know, Calvin Ridley and Marie Cooper, Jerry Judy
like that it was done and those are all wide receivers,
but you know it was You know, South Florida is
such a hot bed of talent. You know, you look
at different regions throughout the country, whether it's the state
of Georgia, you know, Texas, California, South Florida is like
its own place. It's like its own state of just
(57:46):
like hot bed of talent. So I think it's huge,
and you know they're certainly they're doing it up big
this year. You know, we'll be interesting to see how
you know, this trio of guys they have and James Johnson, Diabell,
Derek Cooper maybe opens kid's eyes a little bit more
to the state of Texas to Austin about going there.
(58:07):
So yeah, you know I mean that to have a
pipeline going, you know you're doing something right there because
those kids rarely miss in terms of their projection and.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Hand real quick, I'd be remiss if I didn't ask
you about the guy who we have spent the majority
of this show not talking about. But of course we
will have to get to them at some point or
gets you out of here. Just your early initial thoughts.
You know, maybe what is it you're looking for from
Arch Manning in camp?
Speaker 4 (58:36):
Yeah? Again, you know, I think you know his chemistry
was these new guys.
Speaker 8 (58:40):
You know, we haven't seen anything with we didn't you know,
we didn't seem at Moseley with him in the spring.
We didn't see jack injuries with him in the spring.
Kind of see how he fits in with those guys.
I have no concerns, you know, I think Arch, you
know his preparation. I think he's going to be dialed in,
so I think he's gonna look sharp from day one.
You know, I think they're ready to go. But you know,
I think the biggest thing would just be his connection with.
Speaker 4 (59:00):
Those new guys.
Speaker 8 (59:01):
And then you know, seeing Ryan Wing go, DeAndre Moore
fully healthy, after you know Nixon, you know, bruises in
the spring.
Speaker 4 (59:10):
See how that all comes together head of August thirtieth.
Speaker 2 (59:14):
Couldn't agree with you more, Hank Again, all of the
potential is there, Corey and I agree, all the potential
is there, but you have to see how it comes together.
Speaker 3 (59:23):
Offense.
Speaker 2 (59:23):
You want to see if you can hit the ground
running just like defense. Come August thirty, he is Hank
South of Horn's twenty four to seven, twenty four to
seven Sports. Hank, appreciate you making the time man, Thanks
for having me Gus Morning Kickoff. We'll be back next segment.
Chip Brown of Horn's twenty four to seven will be
joined us. We'll continue the Texas Talk on AM thirteen
(59:44):
hundred Morning Kickoff.
Speaker 4 (59:45):
We'll be back AM.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
Thirteen hundred The Zone Morning Kickoff.
Speaker 2 (59:50):
Mike Hardball, harj Mark Henry Pinch hitting for the Fellaws,
Eric Henry of twenty four to seven Sports, and Corey
Mos of Caview scheduled to be joined here by Chip Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
I believe he's joining us here in the waiting room here.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
In a second, Corey, I'd be disappointed if you didn't
know that little uh drop that Marcus brought us in with.
Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
You know, little little Mike Jones.
Speaker 5 (01:00:14):
You knew that, right, Hey, hold it down down for show.
I'm mad because Georgia people think it's Lotto song.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
Oh I never even considered that aspect.
Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
Yeah, Lotto used that sample and so people may think
it hurts. I'm like anah respect to Agetown.
Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
That is another conversation for another day.
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
But as I said, the Horns twenty four to seven takeover,
I send air quotes of morning. Takeoff continues as we've
got Chip Brown, insider columnists, long time presidence in the
Austin market. CB is coming from us from on vacation,
so I appreciate him taking a couple of moments.
Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
Corey.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
I took a couple questions last time, so I will
let you bat leadoff jump right into things with Chip Brown.
Speaker 5 (01:01:01):
First, all, Ship, where are you at though? You look
you look like you got an elegant place right now.
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
No, I know, I'm in a I'm in a cabin
in the mountains of Colorado.
Speaker 5 (01:01:11):
That's awesome. That's definitely dope. Bro Oh yeah, this first
question off off top. You know, we've been talking about
the roster so.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
Far throughout this show today, and so just my first question.
Speaker 5 (01:01:21):
Would be, what is something that you're kind of interested
to see next week during our first chances to see
this team.
Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
Is there any position group that you are looking forward
to getting your eyes on.
Speaker 6 (01:01:31):
Yeah, I mean I think it's really the offense in general, Like,
you know, I want to see arch Manning, want to
or hear you know what what we can't see here
about ours Manning and his relationship to those receivers, you know,
Ryan Wingo, DeAndre Moore, and which of those newcomers you know,
Emmitt Mostly the fifth, the freshman, Dylan McCutcheon, you know,
(01:01:57):
Click Lockett, Jamie French, Michael Terry the third.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
I feel like I have a.
Speaker 6 (01:02:02):
Pretty good handle on Jack Endries being a go to guy,
just based on everything we heard at SEC media days.
And so in the offensive line, I mean, we're not
going to really know what's going on with the offensive
line until we get to the Ohio State game. And
I keep saying this, Matt Patricia is a new defensive
(01:02:23):
coordinator at Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
We don't really know what he's gonna be majoring in.
Speaker 6 (01:02:30):
And so that's gonna be an unbelievable test for this
offensive line because they could prepare for something and get
something totally different and have to be, you know, sort
of scrambling as they go. And that's where that leadership
on that offensive line I think is going to be
so important. And you know, even last year, I don't
(01:02:51):
think you would have said DJ Campbell was like a
tip of the spear leader.
Speaker 4 (01:02:57):
He was a guy who was trying to figure it out.
Speaker 6 (01:03:00):
And and Cole Hudson, who's who started as a freshman
and then became a rotational player for the last couple
of years.
Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
How effective are those guys as.
Speaker 6 (01:03:10):
Leaders when stuff starts hitting the fans? So that's those
are kind of my most intriguing storylines to watch, because
I think this defense is going to be pretty nasty.
Speaker 3 (01:03:23):
You know again, just join us.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
We're joined by Chip Brown of Horns twenty four to
seven dot Com. Appreciate Missus Brown for letting Chip do
this hit because she tried to get him as far
away as possible, no Wi Fi, no cell reception, and
somehow he still found a way to do this. Chip,
I'm going to ask you about SEC media dates. I
know there were some things left over, some meat on
(01:03:46):
the bone you wanted to get into.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
Have had it, my friend?
Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:03:48):
I mean I think you look at there's so many
great storylines going into this. I mean, I think the media,
well we know the media because they voted in a poll.
I think Texas and Georgia are gonna square off again
for the conference championship, and this year Texas has to
go to Athens, where Georgia has a thirty one game
(01:04:09):
home winning streak going into the season. Now they they'll
play I think four or five home games before they
play Texas, so that streak could still be alive or
it could be recent history. But you know, Texas has
to show that they can handle the Bulldogs and do
(01:04:30):
they get them in Athens or do they does Georgia.
Speaker 4 (01:04:35):
Get that one and then maybe they meet up for
the SEC title.
Speaker 6 (01:04:38):
I think that's going to be, you know, a fascinating
storyline to watch Gunner Stockton who's already beaten Texas for
an SEC title with his play in the second half
of that game going up against arch manning Florida.
Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
You know DJ Lagway, Eric, you and I talked did
SEC media days.
Speaker 6 (01:04:57):
How impressive Dj Lagway will a guy who went six
and one as a starter and the only loss was
the Georgia game where he was leading ten to three
when he left the game. You know, that's a that's
a team that is very intriguing and it seems like
there's some juice behind the Gators and that's gonna be
(01:05:20):
a tough road game for Texas in in early October.
So you know, I think you've got some intriguing storylines.
I know the home schedule is not great. Fans are
not happy about the Texas home schedule. They don't They're
not real excited about San Jose State and UTEP and
Sam Houston.
Speaker 4 (01:05:41):
But you do get Arkansas and A and M at
the end.
Speaker 6 (01:05:44):
So you know, if you can sweat it out in September,
you'll get some You'll get some cooler teenths and some
some big rivalry games.
Speaker 4 (01:05:53):
At the end. Good.
Speaker 5 (01:05:56):
Yeah, I just want to say something because you mentioned
something we touched on earlier in the show. It was
the Florida game, and I threw that out there earlier.
Speaker 4 (01:06:03):
In the show.
Speaker 5 (01:06:04):
I said, I think Texas fans should be a little
bit more worried about that game than Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
What's theay?
Speaker 6 (01:06:11):
You? Yeah, I kind of agree with you, Corey, because
DJ Lagway, I mean, I don't know much about Julian Sayan.
I know he went to Alabama when Nick you know,
Saban was there, and then when Saban retired, he left
and went to Ohio State and was, I, you know,
five star recruit. But Lagway was the number one quarterback
(01:06:33):
in twenty twenty four, and he has more game experience
than arch Manning, who was the number one quarterback in
twenty twenty three, and that that stuff matters. I mean
that game experience matters when you've been in big games.
When he's faced Georgia, even though it was only two quarters,
he had a ten to three lead on him, and
(01:06:56):
he can run. He's he can be a loose when
he has to be, but he's a passer. I think
he's dangerous. I think he's one of the top three
quarterbacks in the SEC. And I think that game is
going to be amazing. And the fact that it's the
week before Oklahoma makes it more complicated for Texas for
(01:07:19):
Steve Sarkeesian in terms of, you know, getting their attention.
Speaker 4 (01:07:22):
Now. Florida will have played I think Miami and LSU
correct by the.
Speaker 6 (01:07:29):
Time they play Texas, So both teams are going to
have film of them, of the other team trying to
be at its best. Florida will have the Texas Ohio
State film, and so I think it's I think that
is the more dangerous game. I think the two most
dangerous games on the schedule are Florida and Georgia. Look
(01:07:53):
the Cotton Bowl, that that game can go any direction.
We know that the atmosphere is chaos. If you're not
ready for that atmosphere and the momentum gets on the
on the on the wrong side of you, that game
can get away from you. And we've we've seen that.
So and I am a buyer of John Mattier at
(01:08:15):
quarterback for OU. I think he's I think he's Sam Levitt.
I've said that multiple times. He's elusive, more elusive than
you think. I mean, Sam Levitt was running away from
Anthony Hill Junior like no one does that. So it's Look,
it's going to be a great test of a team
that Steve Starkesian clearly thinks has a chance to win
(01:08:39):
championships this year. They're going for it and and that's
exciting because we haven't we haven't been talking like this.
Speaker 4 (01:08:46):
Corey for years.
Speaker 6 (01:08:48):
I Mean it was like, well that year looks like
it could be a year where they contend, but then
it'll be a bridge year. Maybe that year they could contend.
And now we're talking about they're contending each year. And
I always say this to Longhorns fans, enjoy this while
you've got it, because right now you have alignment in
(01:09:09):
leadership and it's fully supporting football, and when you don't
have alignment, it's a mess.
Speaker 4 (01:09:17):
And Texas fans know that from the Steve Patterson era.
Speaker 6 (01:09:20):
So yeah, these are great days if you're a Texas
Longhorns football fan. It's a it's a great These are
great days if you're a Texas Longhorn fan across the board,
because most every sport is contending, but it is exciting, no.
Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
Doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
That is Chip Brown Horns twenty four to seven, twenty
four to seven sports. Chip, We're up against a break,
but I appreciate you jumping in from vacation, sir.
Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
We'll talk.
Speaker 4 (01:09:48):
Thank you, sir. Y'all are the best, have fun, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
AM thirteen hundred Zone Morning Kickoff will be back AM
thirteen hundred The Zone Morning Kickoff, Mike Hardball Charge Mark
Henry Mark is out till Monday.
Speaker 3 (01:10:04):
Hard earned a well deserved vacation.
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
So pinch hitting Eric Henry Horn's twenty four it Sevan
Corey Mobs of kV bringing you home up through the
nine a m.
Speaker 4 (01:10:16):
Hour.
Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Corey, We've talked a lot of Texas football and that's
where we'll finish the show with what defines a successful
season for Texas football. But before we get to that,
I did want to ask you this because the twenty
twenty five twenty twenty six Texas men's basketball non conference
schedule dropped yesterday, and Corey, yeah, Marcus, I don't know
(01:10:41):
if you know you want to come work at the
mood at nights, because, uh, let's run down this schedule.
We've got Lafayette at home, we go to Fairleigh Dickinson
at home. We really see that same squid that was
on Marcus's face for those of you watching, that's it's
base of what I have. We got Kansas City at home.
(01:11:02):
I did not know Writer at home, and then we
finish up with at least with a school I know,
you know, a little little you know, drum line, actually
little southern you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:11:13):
I can at least rock with that. If they bring
the band.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
Lemoyne in Maryland East Shore folks, both of your home
games outside of Virginia.
Speaker 7 (01:11:22):
Yes, sir, Marcus, I know that the bringing back March
Madness basketball, but are they doing creative team versions?
Speaker 3 (01:11:33):
Marcus, I couldnot be mad at that. Listen. The road
schedule is great, Corey. I will be in the building, Marcus.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
I will be in the building when Texas opens the
season against Duke Oh.
Speaker 4 (01:11:46):
I will be there for that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:48):
I'm gonna try to see if I can pitch it
to the bosses to make the Yukon trip. But listen,
if you are a Longhorn fan and you want to
watch your Texas Longhorns, and listen, this is the flagship
station that Texas Longhorns, So listen. Have thirteen hundred to Z.
Don't want to disuade Anyboddy there, but the home slate
it's it's it's a little rough, Corey.
Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
What your thoughts, man?
Speaker 5 (01:12:09):
Yeah, like Le Moyne sounds like a French restaurant, Like
I should be going there to get some croissants.
Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
Or something, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:12:17):
So, yeah, the thought process is get the blowouts in
at the crib. You know, there should be no close games.
Maybe Virginia just because of the way they play defense,
but like other than that, man, it should be straight
fireworks at the mood. He said, I better be seeing
one hundred point blowouts because I don't know who half
of these guys are.
Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
What this schedule, dude, No idea, Corey?
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
You know all I see in our future is a
lot of knights at the mood where it's just me,
you and maybe three other people in that media room.
You know, hey, maybe that'll be the Jordan Pope fifty
point game because we know he did that last year.
Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Right, got it, we got it, he got it in
his bag.
Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
Right, you know that he's gotten his bag. So that'll
give you a reason to get out too the mood.
Speaker 2 (01:12:59):
But yeah, that home slate, it'll be family friendly, to
be family friendly pricing for the folks there at Moody
Center before we get out of here.
Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
Man, Like I said, I did want to ask you, Corey.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
With Texas football having made the College Football Playoffs semi
final back to back years, what is a successful season
to you in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
Successful season going back to the SEC championship. I think
that's a consensus of not winning it, per se. I
don't want to put a lot of pressure on winning it.
But a successful season will be proving that last year
was legit. They do deserve to be in this conference
and they're going to start running the table. And to
do that at least got to make it to the
(01:13:41):
championship game again. And then I think at least making
it to the National Championship game. I think overcoming that
hump of that semi final is big for them this year.
I think if they're able to do that and maybe
lose the title game, I think there's still a successful season. Now,
they probably wouldn't say the same, but if I'm being
on biased journalist, you know I'm being fair, and I
(01:14:04):
kind of look at things logically, and I think logically
that would be a successful season if you're able to
make it to the SEC Championship game again and make
it to the title game, but.
Speaker 4 (01:14:13):
At least at least beat Georgia once. I think that's
also like another thing on the table.
Speaker 5 (01:14:19):
Where you at least got to be the ones, whether
that Athens or in the SEC title game, but you
got to be the ones this see this.
Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
Season, Marcus, go ahead, look they're going to jump in
real quick or no. No, I agree.
Speaker 7 (01:14:29):
Actually, I would say I don't think they have to
get to the national Championship, but you have to at
least be in a final four. I think you haven't
arch first year as a starter full time that that
kind of complicates things a lot. But if you do
get I would say, match what you've done and yeah,
(01:14:50):
beat Georgia.
Speaker 3 (01:14:52):
I can bring us home on this.
Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
I do believe Corey that Texas will play for a
national title in twenty twenty five. And I do believe
that Texas will at some point this season beat Georgia.
I do not know if that's gonna be the regular
season game, because I think the SEC title game is
going to be a rematch of last year.
Speaker 4 (01:15:13):
In order to be the man, you have to beat
the man.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
I believe Georgia that team always has something to prove,
and I do think they will be there. If Texas
can beat Georgia at the Georgia Doom or I guess
the Mercedes Benz Stadium in front of those fans, that
would be a huge momentum shift into the college football playf.
Speaker 5 (01:15:35):
Yes, sir, go ahead, Corey, real quick, who ain't playing
that title game againstn't say Penn State.
Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
You know what, I'm not one hundred percent sure yet.
I'm still a little underside. I haven't gotten there yet.
I haven't gotten there yet, But I do believe the
Texas long Horns will play for a national title. Of course,
you're home to listen to the Texas long Horns. A
thirteen hundred zone.
Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
More to kickoff.
Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
We'll be back one day, Mark, Henry will be back.
Corey Mos appreciate you sitting there my man man awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
Thank you for the opportunity. I appreciate it.
