(02:21):
feature on the app. Well, Mark, we sat here yesterday
and I was listening to some national shows and everybody
was filling the cowboys, all the cowboys.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
They looked like a new team.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
They've been doing what they're supposed to do, and this
is the Cowboy team that we thought we was going
to see. Well, the Cowboys decided it was time to
go back to being the Cowboys. And let's just say,
you could not, we should not, will not invest in
George Pickens. You know why, because George Pickens got back

(02:59):
to being who George Hey? You know how they say
he's exactly who we thought they were, and the Cowboys
went back to their old ways.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Mark, you know what, hard I think that we're being
a little hyperbolic this morning because we're mostly invested in
our in our Cowboys, and I say our Cowboys because
that's the team that we chose, and regardless of the strife,
you know, we're gonna stick with our team.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Detroit was Detroit was just a better team.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
They better defensively, they're better offensively. They have a coach
that was a former Cowboy. He had those guys ready
to play. And that was what I said yesterday. I
knew that they were gonna come in and they were
gonna fight the Cowboys like it was the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
The Cowboys are not.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Ready to face a team that wants to fight every
game like a Super Bowl. You saw Pickings pull up
and not make catchers because he just didn't want to
put the effort in. You saw outside containment get broken
at least twenty five thirty times because guys can't do
their jobs stay in their lane. You have guys on

(04:16):
the interior. They have a very good offensive line. The
Detroit Lions has a pro two Pro bowls on that
on that offensive line, and the other three guys are
just as They're not just as good, but there's just
a step down. And when you saw them make contact
blocks with Dallas's defensive line, they negated them. And then

(04:41):
you have the running backs. Both of both of Detroit's
running backs can start on probably seventy five of the
teams in the NFL, if not eighty. And you know
you have a pro bo quarterback. So and we you.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Said, well we may not get I'm around Saint Brown.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Well, bull crap, we got I'm around Saint Brown two
point zero.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
And the other guys played inspired.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Because he was putting the effort out being injured. The
Cowboys ran into the buzz saw last night.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
What happened?

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Well, I mean, on certain levels, you're one hundred percent right,
but the Cowboys out gained the Detroit Lions off They
out gained them total yardage, They out gained them passing yardage.
The problem is the Cowboys kept turning the ball over.
There were three turnovers in that game, and they got
points off of the turnovers. When you scored thirty points

(05:45):
in the game, you're supposed to win. They gave up
forty four. And that defense that we thought was looking
so much better and the changes that were happening is
Dan Campbell knew exactly what Matt eber Flus and his
defense was. He's been beating them up for the last
couple of years when he was with the Chicago Bears,

(06:08):
so he knew exactly what it was.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
It wasn't just it wasn't just the defense that failed.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Special teams failed, special teams.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
I've never seen the Cowboys special teams give up that
many yards on kickoffs and punts.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Never, well never.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
We can't put it on all the special teams because
we got a guy named Auburn that was pretty dog
one good. I mean Aubrey that was pretty dog one good.
And if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have been
in the game. I told my boy Keith yesterday. He
was like, man, it's gonna be a field goal game
for y'all. I was like, it's okay, I like our
field goal kicker. This is I expect that. I expected that,
but I ain't expect him to go out there and

(06:49):
set all these records because he was kicking every.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Dog on time.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
It's still one of those things that you you look
at these Cowboys and here they are six six and one,
and now they got to uphill battle to get to
the playoffs. If they don't win their division, as I
said yesterday, they're not going to be.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Able to get in.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
It's just the NFC has too many talented teams with
good numbers that you are not going to be able
to sneak into it unless you win your division. But
here's coach Schottenheimer after the game and given his thoughts
on what happened.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Oh, you know, I don't know. We're just gonna keep playing.
You know, we don't control who wins and loses. We
just control we can do. Really Proud of the group.
I told him that, you know, four games, seventeen days,
battle their asses off.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Proud of them.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
Uh, we knew tonight that it was going to come
down a couple of things. We knew we had to
take care of the football and take it away, and
didn't do a very good job with that. And then
we knew we had to win trenches, and we didn't
really do that. So I thought they played hard, gave
up too many explosives, and then of course, you know,
just couldn't when we get a little momentum, just couldn't
get a stop. And so the company football wasn't what

(07:59):
it's been over the last couple weeks. When you play
a good football team like this on the road, unfortunately,
when you do that, it's gonna be hard to win.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
I one agree with him, except for the fact that
he said I told him I was proud of him,
not proud of you.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
We lost, and you know what it is.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
And a person that should not have gotten pat on
the back or told he was proud of him was
George Pickens. And Richard Sherman and Brian broad Is each
let it be known that George Pickens let his team down.

Speaker 6 (08:28):
Today the big story, here's George Pickens. George Pickens throughout
the game, especially late in the game, just look interesting.
Hunter street playing football, you know, And that's.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
What you can't have if you're gonna be a superstar,
if you want to be the best receiver in the.

Speaker 6 (08:39):
National Football League, you can ever be disengaged. It doesn't
matter if the game is going your reg I'm not
going away. You can't just disappear in these games. The russe,
We're not gonna have him.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
And just right here, cruising, cruising rush. You're the guy.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
You're the guy.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
Ceedee Lamber's not in his head, he's out and you
get intercepted on your slack.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Routes and you can't be the guy and half as it.
I'm sorry you can't. It's unacceptable.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
And if you're Dallas Cowboys and you're looking at him
and you're looking at the big time receiver money forty
million dollars, you gotta look at this same and say, hey,
is this a guy we can trust paying forty million
dollars to show.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Up with going to some circy seats. But I don't
know that happened.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
And here's the other part of that Mark wants you
to listen to. Brian brought us of one oh five
to three of the fan watches this game.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
What used to work for the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
He too, was very critical of what he saw from
George Pickens.

Speaker 7 (09:27):
But that tonight George Pickens didn't extend his hands. George
Pickens didn't make tough catches. George Pickens not engaged. When
they needed George Pickens to be great, he wasn't great tonight,
you know, and unfortunately, you know that's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
But man, they needed him.

Speaker 7 (09:44):
To be great in this big game and it just
didn't go.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
You gotta be able to shine Sean in the moments
when you were asked to Sean. He was hot the
last couple of weeks and this is what have you
done for me lately? League, and George Pickens looked disengage
and people I'm looking at people on social media.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
That's how he runs the routes.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
He may run the routes looking lazy, but he's aggressive
to the football. And he was not aggressive to the
football yesterday. And there was an opportunity for him to
catch a deep pass and he acted like he didn't
even know the ball was coming to him.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
They were just a bunch of things. I don't know,
I don't know what the problem was.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Hard.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
I think some of what coach I Naiman said about
them playing three games in seventeen days.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Guys, this is an excuse.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Guy's a tired and football is a different game than basketball.
You can are golf or bowling or whatever else. You
playing football three games in seventeen days pretty damn tough,
and I commend them for the effort. But they looked
worn down last night, and I think that that's a

(11:01):
byproduct of the fact that they played three games in
seventeen days. But effort, you can control that. Yeah, you
can't control the weapon. You can't control whether or not
the quarterback throws you the ball. But when the quarterback
throws you the ball, you have to make the effort

(11:24):
to get to it.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
And he didn't. He just didn't.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Well, here's the other part of that.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
If you are playing that many games and that many days,
then the coaching staff and the people over at the
Dallas Cowboys need to let them rest during the week,
let them do walkthroughs, no pads, no nothing, and get
themselves ready to play. That effort right there was absolutely horrendous.
You gave up forty four points. Detroit has been struggling.

(11:51):
Coming up next, we're going to continue these conversations.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
College football is the wild Wild.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
West, and I'll explain what I mean by that and
get Mark thoughts on this right here on the Morning
Kickoff Feel Good Football Friday Edition on Sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred to Zone.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
And always free on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Welcome back to the Morning Kickoff right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Mike harballhar WWE Hall
of Famer and World's Strongest Man d Mark Henry, and
of course we've got our guy Marcus behind the boards
coming up at eight am. WWE US Women's champion Chelsea
Green will be joining us at eight seventeen. An hour

(12:34):
from now, you'll get a chance to hear from Ann
Parker Coleman of Caview as she previews the high school
football playoffs and local teams are buying for that state championship.
The next segment, you'll hear from the Texas women as
they won yesterday against North Carolina in the sec ACC Challenge,

(12:57):
and so much more. But Mark, college football is off
the chain right now. We talked about this earlier in
the week when some of the changes were happening with
the coaching staffs. The biggest story right now is James
Franklin taking the job at Virginia Tech. And it's not
because James Franklin took a job at Virginia Tech because

(13:20):
he was let go by Penn State. It's the fact
that Penn State has not been able to find a coach.
They've made runs at different coaches and they've all turned
it down. And we've talked about this before, Mark, how
are you going to fire somebody and you have no

(13:41):
idea who you're going to hire?

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Now?

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Do you have a backup plan, to your backup plan,
to your backup plan, Because right now, Penn State. I
know that the stain of Sandusky and the stain of
Joe Paterno and all the things.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
That are involved with those people. I get it.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
But when you sit here and you look at Penn
State and its history of Penn State football wise, only,
how are they not getting a team?

Speaker 4 (14:14):
I mean, how are they not getting the coach?

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (14:18):
You know what, Arge, you made some valid statements right
there and points there's a lot of history that people
that's it's not erased. People remember, and James Franklin, I thought,
in the face of all of that, did a great job.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
They were one game away from playing for the national championship.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
You know what I'm saying. They were one game away? Yeah, unreal.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
And and and think about all the guys that they
put in NFL. Yes, they put so many guys in
the NFL. And and but the state college is not
a huge place. It's not easy to get to. So
when you look for a coach, you want to look
for somebody that has sustainable roots.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
And they had that in Franklin.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Even though Franklin was not great in the big, big game,
if it was against the top ten, you can almost
chalk it up. You knew they were gonna lose that game.
That's why they That's why they fired him because he.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Didn't win the big game.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
But what makes you think that the next guy is
going to be able to do that?

Speaker 3 (15:34):
If it's that market.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
And I felt like he, you know, for a guy
that was calling for his head, which I was one
of them, at least have a backup plan. We all
have to navigate this life, and you always have the
plan B.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Like Batman.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
You got to have your contingency plans for your contingency plan.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
They do not, and they didn't.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Haarge, And that's the suffering because of it.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I mean, think about the schools that have already found
their coaches. You look at the University of Florida found
their coach. You look at Arkansas, found their coach. You
look at k State. The K State's coach retired yesterday

(16:28):
and they already got their coach for K State in
Colin Klein.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
You look at what is happening at USF.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
USF their coach left and now Brian Hartline, one of
the top recruiters in the nation, one of the top
recruiters in the nation, has found a job at USF.
He left Ohio State to go there. You look at

(16:58):
Michigan State. You got Pat Fitzgerald, who just really got
cleared to be able to coach again. He has now
found a job as well. So it's crazy to me.
And then you got Alex Ghosh. Alex Ghost is now
the head coach of Auburn. Auburn had got rid of

(17:20):
Hugh Freeze. They found their guy. Season ended. He comes in.
Everybody's good to go. But here is the big thing
about what happened at Auburn. They were saying that he
was golfing a lot Hugh Freeze, and they asked the
new coach, what's your handicap?

Speaker 4 (17:40):
So it's a setup question. Been here long enough to
know that.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
So my little man, Barrett loves golf, and Corbin used
to and she's now she's now super into cheerleading and
flag football, so she's just doing it as a hobby now.

Speaker 9 (18:00):
And my wife is an elite golfer. I like football
more than golf. And I'm terrible.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
That's my favorite part, he said. And I'm terrible.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
And that is what you look at when you look
at these coaches and the moves that are being made.
Now Penn State has turned their thoughts and their search
into looking for Matt Campbell to come in. You fired
fifty day, fifty three days ago, fifty four now James Franklin,

(18:45):
And in the middle of the season, in the middle
of the season, what are you going to do? Do
you think somebody that is coaching eighteen Because let's put
it in perspective, if you're going to hire somebody at
Penn State, doesn't that person have to have some cachet

(19:06):
Doesn't that person have to be able to bring some
credibility to a place that has got a lot of baggage?
Right now, this place is in a bad spot overall,
but you start to look at where they're going At

(19:26):
this point, I'm not sure if they're going to be
able to get back to the party. They thought they
were gonna get Kurt Signetti, they thought they were gonna
get Brent Key, the Georgia Tech head coach. They even
looked at Jeff Brown from Louisville. Brian Dayball is still
out there. But you start to look at all of

(19:48):
these different guys and you say, can they get picked up?
And now they're putting their focus on Matt Campbell, the
guy that originally we thought was gonna go to the NFL.
He was the hottest name in college football at one point. Now,
what's next, Mark, What's next?

Speaker 2 (20:11):
I hope that man Campbell sticks because they're running out
of options.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
They're gonna have the Lord their standards, they're gonna have.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
The lights are coming on hard in the club. They're
gonna have to just start figging who's there.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
That's what's about tapping. Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
And I've heard a couple of people say that, you
know what, maybe Mike Tomlin doesn't work and they go
after Mike Tomlin. I've heard some crazy stuff, but you
can't wait on Mike Tomlin after the season. You gotta
put you gotta get somebody right now. They signed people.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
They signed two people in the recruiting class.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Two two, and they are I think last I heard,
they were one hundred and twenty first in recruiting.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Yes, yes, And you know who was one hundred and
twenty first before that and now is in the top twelve.
Virginia Tech, where James Franklin went, where he flipped all
those guys that were going to Penn State, they all
decided to follow James Franklin. And now you were sitting
there at Penn State, a prestigious blue blood in college

(21:28):
football like a nomad.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
You have nothing, You have no one.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
You a man with no country, a.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Man with no country.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
He just walking around like King from Kung Fu, trying
to find someplace to sit at. He can't do it.
I hope they find peace, he said. Coming up next,
we're gonna talk basketball. The number two rank Texas women
handled their business last night at the Moody, and we
will talk about it right here on the morning. Can

(22:00):
go all Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred, the Zone and
always free on the iHeartRadio M.

Speaker 10 (22:07):
Goes to Worry Harmon to Tayo Sidbury. Now the left side,
Jordan Lee will spot up for three and knock hit down.
Rebound pulled down Sidbury to Booker, back out front Harmon.
Now the Booker right side drives in the paint, uses
the glass to score a quick pass to the base.
Sligne and the jumper knocked down by Jordan Lee. Harmon
to the right side, works it to Carlton, leans around
Nyla Harris to score off the glass.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
Of bar left hand dribble.

Speaker 10 (22:30):
Arnie Solo has it again on the right side, guarded
by Madison Booker looking into the paint and on the
shot clock to the tar heels Pasco's inside underneath shot
rejected as justice Carleton blocked the shot of Nila Harrison.
Here with twelve seconds to go, It's inbounded to Jordan
Lee and that will do it. Longhorns will go to
nine to zero and they win their share of the

(22:53):
acc SEC Challenge. Final score here tonight from Moody center
and Jackson's long horn seventy nine the Nord Carrol on sixty.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Four and right there you heard the voice of the
Texas Longhorns.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
Craig way as he broke it down.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
The number two women in college basketball, the Texas Longhorn
women defeat North Carolina, who was number eleven in college basketball,
seventy nine to sixty four. Big time night from Jordan League.
Madison Booker added eighteen points and six rebounds.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
But your girl Rory Harmon.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Finished the game with eight assists, making it her seventh
game of the year when recording five or more assists. Also,
she recorded three steals that puts her fourth all time
on the steal steals with excuse me at three four OAR.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
I thought that Kyler old Baker stepped up in a
big way. Not only did she score points, but she
had seven rebounds and one sister. And you know what
they Texas only had overall seven turnovers, yep, and they

(24:09):
forced I think twenty y'are eighteen to twenty twenty.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Like when you when you.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Force twenty turnovers in a game, it's not always the stats,
it's the pressure that makes them turn the ball over
and you get more possessions. Texas is that coach bac
his system with the defense is h is creating points
and more attempts for his team. So, man, you you

(24:41):
almost got to play a perfect game when you play
against Texas. Well.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
The one thing about Texas that continues to show out
is the fact of what they're getting from their bench
when you look at what comes off the bench and
the points that are being distributed. Last night, Texas played
seven people total.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
That's it, And Vic said he was gonna end up
shortening his bench and doing some things a little bit different.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
Now.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Part of that is because of the injuries that they have.
You look at what was going on with Alijah Krump,
She's still out, Preston is still out, So hopefully they'll
get those girls back here soon. But Texas moves to
nine to zero and you brought it up on a
pre show talking about how do they get to number one?

Speaker 4 (25:26):
And I was like, well, if.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
Yuky keeps winning, they're not going anywhere. But here's the
biggest thing for me. Their resume continues to grow with
these teams that they're playing against. The one thing that
Vic is going to be upset about is North Carolina
got forty points of their seventy or of their sixty four,
forty of them came into paint.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
That's gonna have to be fixed. And I think it
will be. That's what good coaching does is they find
whatever is the problem, they fix it before it becomes
uh something that's going to hurt the team. I have
zero doubt that that coach, Victor have that that that eliminated.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
The other thing hard is.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Texas has a lot of hustle and and you can
play seven players when they're relentless, when you can't breathe,
They force teams. I mean you see arrant passes go
out of bounds and and nobody touched it, nobody stole it,

(26:36):
but it's still a turnover. And when they have those
Texas scores and and you whatever you need to do,
it's a bonus coach, vict he doesn't have to run
a play for you to be to shoot the ball.
Drew penetrate, that's a free one. Whenever you get that turnover,
just get something, get a foul, and Texas gets to

(26:59):
the gets to the.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Paint and draws a lot of founs.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Yeah, Texas, they figured things out quickly. And as you said,
Kyla Oldacre, being able to come in and help clean
up on the boards be an outlet. You start looking
at those players that are in double digits. Madison Booker
obviously continues to hoop. She had eighteen and six rebounds,
four assists. You look at what Jordan Lee was able

(27:26):
to do, and Jordan Lee had a career high twenty
two points. She played forty minutes, so did Rory, and
she just keeps getting better.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
And here's her post game with Craigway.

Speaker 10 (27:38):
Jordan Lee had a career high twenty two points in
this game. To you, I've heard basketball players quite often
talk about.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
Letting the game come to them.

Speaker 10 (27:49):
I look at your game and how it's going, it
looks like you truly are letting it come to I'm grateful.

Speaker 11 (27:54):
I think you're able to do that when you have
really good teammates and you know a lot of the
attention is going to be on them, and it's going
to myself to make it easier for them to be
open and make surets by stretching the floor.

Speaker 10 (28:05):
I'm glad you brought that up, because when Maddie gets
a lot of attention focused on her in terms of
the double teams and teams guarding the same thing with
Rory and having a dribble a from traps, quite often
you find yourself open, whether it's for a three or
driving in. Is that something that registered in your mind
going into the game. Hey, I have to be ready
for that because those opportunities may be.

Speaker 11 (28:25):
There, absolutely, And we have great chemistry as well, and
so kind of annoying our spots on the floor and
whether they're looking for me and where they turn and
where they make their move.

Speaker 12 (28:32):
Make sure I'm available at the right time.

Speaker 10 (28:34):
I know coaches like to talk about defense. You guys
really hit the defense today. Do you get a lot
of fun out of that?

Speaker 4 (28:39):
We did.

Speaker 11 (28:39):
We didn't start as well as we wanted to, but
we definitely picked it up and took advantage of some matchups.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
And we needed to. Hey, congrats on a cret. Did
you know what was career I did? I did? Thank you?
All right? Thanks? I did?

Speaker 12 (28:50):
I did.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
I knew it was a career high, especially when you
get close to the number. I mean, you get close
to a number that you're not used to seeing. You
look up in there and you're like, oh, I got
busy today.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Oh I got busy.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
I gotta go get over there, and you know, like
even Madison Booker didn't have the best night that she's
ever had. And when you have teammates that can pick
you up and covering for you. It makes all the
difference in the world. And I think that a lot
of times when Madison did missshots that other people were

(29:24):
able to get rebounds and put it back in because
they delegated so much to boxing her out and keeping
her outside of fifteen feet that it just opened up
for everybody else on the other side of the court.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
Yeah, they've been able to make some moves.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
So I'm like, this is one of those things that
you continue to look at and you say, all right,
what are they going to do moving forward? Well, they
work their behinds off. You know, VIC is gonna make
sure that they're locked in and ready to go. They
continue to find ways to get it done. They had
a slow start initially. North Carolina, as I said, was

(30:00):
getting what they wanted in the paint, and then you
gotta go out there and make those adjustments, and that's
what Texas was able to do. They are now gonna
take a few days off, but they'll be back on
Sunday and they will be playing PV here at the
Moody Center, So they'll be back at home getting another
game before they get another challenge against UTRGV and then

(30:25):
they go to Baylor December the fourteenth, big matchup in
in Fort Worth against the Baylor Bears.

Speaker 4 (30:34):
When we come back.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
College Football Championship Weekends starts today tonight and we will
talk about it right here on the morning kickoff on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone and always free
on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
Get excited, folks, Get excited.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Coming up at the top of the hour, US women's
champion from the WWE, Chelsea will be joining us and
we can't wait to talk to her. Don't forget at
eight seventeen we'll have Ann Parker Coleman joining us of KVU.
But right now, I'm gonna give you a chance to
win a pair of tickets to go see Chicago and

(31:15):
Sticks August the nineteenth at the Moody Center. All you
got to do is get over to the iHeartRadio app,
find AM thirteen hundred the Zone, tap that red microphone,
and leave the key word of the day, Robato. Robato
is the key word of the day for you to

(31:37):
be able to win a pair of tickets to go
see Chicago and Sticks at the Moody Center August the nineteenth.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
Make sure you're locked in all day long.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
As Craig Way of The Craigway Show and the voice
of the Texas Longhorns, who you heard right here on
this radio station last night. Got a chance to tune
in and lock in to Craigway and you'll give you
a chance to win some more tickets.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
This after noon, well this.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Championship weekend, this is where some decisions will be made
on college football and the College Football Playoff Ranking Show
will be happening Sunday at eleven AM.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
On the Four Letter Network. Make sure you're locked in.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
It will be the final reveal of all of the
chances for Texas to get into the college football playoffs.
If not, be prepared to go to the cheese at
Ball in Orlando. Mark, we got games that start tonight. Troy,
we got the Sun Belt Championship Troy versus Number twenty five.
James Madison, James Madison head coach, took a new job.

(32:44):
So it looks like Billy Napier, former Florida coach, former
Louisiana Lafayette coach, will be taken over and going back
to the Sun Belt to take over James Madison. That
kicks off at six pm. You also haven I saw
State taking on Jacksonville State. Please pay attention to Jacksonville

(33:06):
State's running back Cameron Cook, former Stony Point Tiger, is
tearing it up two hundred and seventy six carries this season,
fifteen hundred and eighty one yards on the ground and
fifteen touchdowns, so make sure you check him out. University
of North Texas Eric Morris now the he's the head

(33:29):
coach there, but now he's going to Oklahoma State. Neil
Brown former assistant here at the University of Texas with
Steve Sarkisian.

Speaker 4 (33:40):
He was part of the quality control staff. Now he
will be.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
The head coach at North Texas as they take on
TWU Lane. Dang it, I forgot my two lane shirt
this morning, Mark ah Man, I completely forgot uh huh tonight.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
I was just noticing. I was like, where's the two
lane shirt? Man?

Speaker 4 (33:59):
I forgot. He's got a game today, so I just
geared up.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
UNLV will be taking on Boise State tonight with UNLV.
I've been riding with them all season long. Dan Mullin
one heck of a coaching or everywhere he goes, he
finds a way to get into a championship game.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
For the most part unless he's in the SEC. But
now you're.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
Looking at him and UNLV will be taking on Boise
State the big games tomorrow though BYU versus Texas Tech,
I know that you got some action on that one.
Mark Georgia versus Alabama, Indiana versus Ohio State, and Duke
versus Virginia thoughts.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
My number one thought is I've been listening to the
commentary of other sports analysts, and everybody thinks that it's
a foe gone conclusion that there's no way that Indiana
should be able to stand toe to toad with Ohio State.
I heard an interesting point that Ohio State hadn't had

(35:04):
a team faced them since Texas. That life throws short
the immediate routes and control the clock. That may be
the only way that you can beat Ohio State is
you beat them at their own game, and that's controlling
the clock and making it a dogfight, keeping the game

(35:25):
thirteen thirteen, thirteen ten.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
You know one of those those slugged out matches, and.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Do you think and my question to you is do
you think that Indiana can do that against Ohio States.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
That's an interesting conversation and a good piece because there's
just something about what I've seen from Ohio State that
looks like they are the team to beat. And it's
as zero to do with on the Ohio State that
we saw at the very beginning of the year.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
It's thee Ohio State that we're seeing right now.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
But I also look at Kirk Signetti and what he's
been able to do at Indiana. This is a team
that always seems to believe as you talked about the
big boulder on their shoulder, they are always in a
place of anger.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Signetti very short with the media, like.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Doesn't really get too excited about the conversations that he's
had with some of these folks. So when you look
at this team, to answer your question, this will be
the whoever wins, this is the Heisman Trophy winner. I believe, Wow,
whoever whichever quarterback plays well and his team wins, they

(36:40):
will be the Heisman Trophy winner.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Because you know what, I can't argue with you, because
they both deserving. But you look at mel Kiper and
the guys that are the draft pronounstigators, and all of
them seem to say that the quarterback at at at
in Indiana, that he should be the Heisman Trophy winner.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
But if Saying.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Goes into that game, like you just said, and he
shows him up, does he move ahead.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
There's only eight guys according to DraftKings, and this is
the latest as of today this morning. Fernando Mendoza, the
quarterback for Indiana, he's plus one sixty for the Heisman Trophy.
Diego Pavia, Diego Pavia is plus one eighty for the

(37:39):
Heisman Trophy, and Julian Saying, quarterback for Ohio State, is
at plus two hundred. Those odds are very much in
the favor of Mendoza and saying, now here's.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
The caveat to both of it.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
What if neither one of them play well and Diego
Pavia wins the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
John monsel Hart will be broken.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
Jack Benzel two point zero.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Yeah, that's exactly what it'll be because at the next level,
I don't think that that he'll look the same as
he did in college. You know, we we got to
see him up close and personal play in Texas and
Texas road coverages to his best receivers and it took

(38:31):
him out of his throwing game. That that's not gonna
happen to saying, and that's not gonna happen to Mendoza.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
It's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.
But Diego Pavia, your Heisman Trophy winner, Law Law, Law
Law Lawn.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
Coming up next, our number.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Two US Women's Champion w w E SmackDown.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
You know who, Chelsea Green. She's next right here on.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
The morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred to
Zone and always free on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
It's Chelsea Green.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
I've been waiting for this moment all day long.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
I've been talking about it all week, and she is
finally here. Mark the Champion, the United States Women's Champion,
Chelsea Green. And I just have to tell you that
I watched them behind the scenes Netflix special and I
got to know you really, really well. But I still

(39:43):
don't know who you are. You better ask me how
are you doing?

Speaker 4 (39:47):
Chelsea?

Speaker 12 (39:49):
I am so good? And also did miss the fact
that I'm able.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
I am so sorry two time double champ.

Speaker 13 (40:01):
I'm a two time United States Women's Champion, and I
am the current mixed tripla.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Oh and the greatest women's champion of all time. And
all you gotta do is ask her. Listen to Chelsea.
You know I love you to death. And and Chelsea
Chelsea said something recently that made my heart just I just.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Buried over with laughter.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
She said, I don't want to toot my own horn,
but too too, Chelsea, us tell us about your greatness?

Speaker 13 (40:47):
Well, where where would you like me to start? Because
really it's it started thirty four years ago when I
was born, but within within wrestling, you know, I've been
doing this years. I feel like I've hit this stride
where I know what I'm doing now and and and
it's like undeniable to me because I feel so comfortable

(41:11):
when I go out there and interact with the audience
or when.

Speaker 12 (41:13):
I have, you know, a live pre taped to do.

Speaker 13 (41:16):
I know who I am through and through, and there's
just no you can't tell me you know me better
than I know myself. And I really think in wrestling
that's so rare, but.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
It's key, Chelsea.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
The I've seen you in the car, you have the
titles on your shoulders, and and I don't think that
they could have found a better person to do what
you're doing right now.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
You're traveling to and fro doing all the media. I've
done that in my life.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
Do you think that there's anybody in the company that
can promote and do like you do.

Speaker 12 (41:55):
So no, no, no.

Speaker 13 (41:59):
I'm not just saying that because I am so tired.
I'm actually saying that because I asked Talent Relations and
they told me that I've had the most appearances this year,
more so than anyone else in the company. And that's
such a flex considering the amount of times I've been
released from WWE. To now be in a position where
I'm holding two titles and I am the face of

(42:22):
the company for media, that's amazing. That is such a
dream come true. That's why I never say no to anything.
Why would I not want to be on here chatting
with you guys and building my own personal brand while
promoting the company that I hold championships for.

Speaker 2 (42:39):
Chelsea, let me hit you with this real quick. So
you you just said it. You've been released before. What
made the difference and the girl that they release and
a girl that they now put all the trust in
as a WWE representative.

Speaker 13 (42:59):
I think there's a couple different things, Like, I really
do believe in right place, right time, and you think
you're in the right place at the right time until
you you know hindsight till you look back and you realize, oh, wow,
I would have never been doing what I'm doing now
if I hadn't been here then.

Speaker 12 (43:17):
But then, you know, I also just think that life
has happened.

Speaker 13 (43:25):
I've grown up, I've experienced every other wrestling company in
the world, and now I'm here at at the end
like this was my goal. This was the pinnacle, this
was the top of Mount Everest, and I climbed every
single hurdle to get here. And now I'm so grateful
that I'm here. But I also I can speak on that.
I can go and do media knowing that I have

(43:47):
my dream job and I don't want to be anywhere else.

Speaker 12 (43:50):
And I don't know that everyone everyone can speak like that.

Speaker 13 (43:53):
You know a lot of people get very lucky and
they get this dream job right away, and having lost
the dream job numerous times, I'm like, oh, anything to.

Speaker 12 (44:05):
Keep this job.

Speaker 4 (44:06):
We're talking to We're talking to it.

Speaker 1 (44:10):
Double Champion Chelsea Green right here on the morning kickoff
on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone and always
free on the iHeartRadio app. I got a buddy of
mine that's been paying attention to this, and he said,
my greatness started thirty four years ago when I was born.
He felt that when you said that, but you're in town,

(44:30):
obviously you got a big event. Tonight, SmackDown is at
the Moody Center. How excited are you to be in Austin,
Texas and of course representing the brand of Chelsea Green
tonight at SmackDown.

Speaker 12 (44:44):
I mean, I always go to Texas.

Speaker 13 (44:46):
It's close to Florida, close to sport, little flight, and
Austin has amazing food.

Speaker 12 (44:52):
The crowds are always great in Texas. It's easy, it's
easy to travel to and from.

Speaker 13 (44:58):
But more importantly, got his tickets are on ticketmaster dot
com for as low as thirty dollars. So I feel like,
if you don't have anything to do tonight, you know,
make the drive to Austin and pick up a little
thirty dollars ticket.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
You know, Chelsea, I gotta.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
I gotta being that I lived in Canada and I
know that you're a proud can Uh. Where do you
see yourself on the Mount Rushmore of awesome Canadian wrestlers.

Speaker 13 (45:31):
Well, I fear that in twenty twenty five, I have
really cemented my legacy on the Rushmore. Now I'm not
sure that Trish and Jericho and uh and everyone else
would agree, but I don't care because I'm putting myself there,
and really all that matters is if you believe in

(45:53):
yourself to.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
Believe that is hilarious.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
I love that fact, and that was a great question
mark for her to be put on the spot to
let you know that. I think she's already cemented on that.
So let me ask you this. One of your toughest
matches would have been, which one?

Speaker 13 (46:15):
Ooh, okay, so I've got I've got two. One would
be my dumpster match. It was the first ever women's
dumpster match in WWE. I mean, like, hello, uh, I
took a power bomb through a table into a dumpster, okay,
and the dumpster was full of spicy salsa.

Speaker 12 (46:32):
Spicy, and it was all over my face.

Speaker 13 (46:36):
So that was that was a literally painful one when
the spicy salsa ran into my eyeballs. And then also
when I had to wrestle Penta in Lucia Underground. That
is that is an iconic match that I didn't know
was gonna be iconic, but it in kind of like
the history of Chelsea Green matches, that's one that people

(46:56):
always bring up.

Speaker 12 (46:57):
So now I.

Speaker 2 (46:58):
Have to and it's different takes in prison that you're
able to do a match against a man and have
such high success. You know, you you're You're one of
the few champions right now that that can say that.

Speaker 12 (47:15):
I know.

Speaker 13 (47:16):
It's it really is such a flex And you know,
Penta was an amazing grab for WWE. I was so
happy when I heard that Ray, Phoenix and Pentagon were
coming to ww I knew that they already had such
a cult following, but to be able to bring that
to WWE TV is I mean it was.

Speaker 12 (47:38):
It was a perfect addition to our rosters.

Speaker 13 (47:41):
But for me to be able to say that I
got in the ring with one of the greatest of
all time, it's rare.

Speaker 12 (47:48):
It's rare, and I think lucky.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Yeah, so tonight you got the big match. Who is
your opponent tonight? Or do you even know who your
opponent is going to be tonight at SmackDown?

Speaker 13 (47:58):
Are you kidding me? I fly by the seat to
my pants. I don't even know you know my coffee
order until I order it. Let alone, who I'm gonna wrestle.
What I do know is that sorry are cover your ears.
But Jade has been absolutely obsessed with me lately, following
me around. Everywhere I turn, I bump into her very
very high boobs.

Speaker 12 (48:18):
It's just strange.

Speaker 13 (48:20):
So I'm thinking that there's gonna be another run in
with Jade since she why are you so obsessed with me?

Speaker 12 (48:28):
I might sing that to her.

Speaker 13 (48:29):
I have a feeling shitting around, but stay tuned, because yeah,
I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (48:34):
Yeah, Jina, I was already for your celebration last week,
and and and and then. I mean the weather was
nice foot and then a storm came through.

Speaker 13 (48:45):
Okay, hold on, I'm renaming her. I'm renaming her a drizzle,
A light drizzle. Okay, like y'all really be hyping her up.
I need to see something before I see the storm. Okay,
a light drizzle has come. Did it rate on my
pri Yes, But I'm not naming her.

Speaker 12 (49:03):
A storm quite yet.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
Just a drizzle.

Speaker 13 (49:06):
She's a drizzle, you know, but a drizzle that really
that really screws up your hair, Like really.

Speaker 4 (49:13):
Just.

Speaker 1 (49:19):
Mark, you're not for this crew right here.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
It might not.

Speaker 12 (49:26):
It's the wrong audience.

Speaker 4 (49:32):
Chelsea.

Speaker 1 (49:33):
Thank you so much for taking the time with us.
We know you have a busy, busy day, busy busy night.
Thanks Stephanie. I know she's with you right now. Thank
her for making sure that all of this was happening.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
And uh, I.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
Know we wanted you in studio, but this was great
as possible, so I appreciate it.

Speaker 10 (49:52):
Right.

Speaker 12 (49:52):
Thank you guys for.

Speaker 13 (49:52):
Just letting me chit chat on the way to my
next little appearance. I'm glad I could make a pit
stop and talk about the.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Drizzle Chelsea before you go.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
What's the greatest Canadian food in the worst of course?

Speaker 13 (50:06):
Well, if if I didn't say poutine, that would be
absolutely crazy, crazy crazy.

Speaker 12 (50:10):
But pair that with a Moulson Canadian and you're good.

Speaker 4 (50:13):
Or a Caesar no lebat or no bud like, right,
no bud like?

Speaker 3 (50:17):
Who's being is where it is? And hard is a
bud Light guy?

Speaker 13 (50:24):
Well, I'll that's okay. Come sit with me and I'll
feed you some. Look after a couple of Molson Canadians,
I think you'll forget about bud letter.

Speaker 4 (50:31):
I can't do that, girl, I can't do that.

Speaker 1 (50:35):
Appreciate you, Chelsea, have a great time here in Austin, Texas.

Speaker 12 (50:39):
Thank you, guys.

Speaker 4 (50:40):
By that was great.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
That was great.

Speaker 2 (50:43):
I told you she's awesome, man, She's one of the
funniest people and like naturally funny, like you don't have
to tell you a joke. Yeah, she's she's just very
gleb and coldful.

Speaker 1 (50:55):
Well, coming up next, we're gonna translist to our champion.
KU's Ann Parker Coleman joins us next right here on.

Speaker 4 (51:03):
The morning kickoff on Sports.

Speaker 1 (51:05):
Radio A thirteen hundred The Zone and always free on
the iHeartRadio Appum great stuff by double Champion Chelsea Green

(51:28):
as she made her appearance here.

Speaker 4 (51:30):
They will be at SmackDown tonight.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
At the Frank Irwin the Moody Center. It's been a
minute since y'all been in the Frank Irwin at the
Moody Center. Exactly at the Moody Center. Mark, I want
to and Parker might be doing another call right now,
but I wanted to get into this conversation real quick

(51:53):
because high school football, obviously we are getting down to
the nitty gritty when it comes to all of the
football action, and there's a few teams that are still
in it from the area. Lake Travis will be taking
on San Antonio Johnson and Lake Travis continues to try
to find ways to get it done. They obviously beat

(52:17):
West Lake earlier this year. They've been through the gauntlet,
but here they are now getting ready to play a
San Antonio Johnson team who always seems to be in
the middle, whether it's basketball, whether it's baseball, and now football.
But I believe Lake Travis is going to win this
football game to advance once again. And then you have

(52:39):
the big game, the big game that will be played
between Dripping Springs and Vandergriff.

Speaker 4 (52:46):
This is the six.

Speaker 1 (52:47):
A Division Regional regional title, so this is both of
these fan bases. But the thing that interest that's interesting
to me is that this game will be played in
the Alamodome with two tech with two Austin Texas teams
on the road.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
You know what, I'm I'm biased because you know, obviously
my daughter and my son both went to Vandergriff. But
I have friends in Driven Springs and we have this
friendly rivalry and I wish them well, but I'm I'm
pulling for Vandergriff.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
Of course.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
The one thing about this game is they're both great
fundamentally coached teams. The coaches, they do a great job
of getting the kids where they're supposed to be, where
they're lined up in correct. They run multiples. They don't.
They're not just a meat grinder and run the ball

(53:50):
in a cloud of dust that they're They're very finesse
teams and they run intricate stuff that you usually see
in college.

Speaker 3 (53:59):
That's why a lot high school teams have trouble with
Van de Griff and Dripping Springs is.

Speaker 2 (54:05):
Because of how complicated of football these young kids play.

Speaker 1 (54:11):
Yeah, the other part of this is these are two
teams that have already played in Week one. Dripping Springs
won forty one to fourteen in their first matchup.

Speaker 4 (54:22):
But this is going to be.

Speaker 1 (54:25):
A big time matchup because Vandergriff was the state champion
last year and now they're playing a rival within the city.
But they got to go to San Antonio and now
we'll see if they're going to be able to chase
that dream once again. We still have Lano in the playoffs.
For all those that like Cooper's Barbecue, they will be

(54:47):
playing Edna this weekend, and it seems to be that
everybody believes that Lano should win this game. And we
might see those Jackets out there as well, those Yellow
Jackets finding a way to get it done.

Speaker 2 (55:01):
The home of Stone Coach Steve Austin and the high
school product.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
That's right, that's right, and that outside of Victoria or
is that where he just decided he was.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
Gonna claim Victoria. Yeah, that's uh.

Speaker 3 (55:13):
He claimed Victoria, but he played.

Speaker 4 (55:15):
Yeah, I would have claimed Victoria too.

Speaker 3 (55:18):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
I was living on a called Edna. You know, no
no offense Edna. I'm from k Town. I'm from Klleen,
so I understand how the name goes along with it.
But also we wanted to talk about North Texas because
we talked about them a little bit earlier and then
being able to play in this UH championship game against Tulane.
It would be we would be remissed if we didn't

(55:42):
mention a couple guys that you know from the Vandergriff
High school football team, the quarterback, yep, Miles Coleman being
able to be a star at North Texas. Didn't At
one point Miles agreed to go to Texas Tech. Or
was he always going to North Texas? I couldn't remember.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
I'm not sure, but.

Speaker 2 (56:08):
I do know that I've watched Miles play this year
and he's got guys in front of him that are
older and more well established, and the coaches, of course,
always due to respect the players, they have to play
those guys, and Miles is going to have his turn.

(56:28):
I'm looking forward to seeing what the future looks like.
He's explosive player.

Speaker 1 (56:32):
Hard, yeah, and I remember I was watching him in
high school and all the people that were involved with
him and the things that he was able to do
is very, very impressive.

Speaker 4 (56:42):
So I'm interested to see if these.

Speaker 1 (56:44):
Guys are gonna get that opportunity tonight I mean this tonight, yeah, tonight,
to win this and can they sneak into the playoffs?
I mean, are they one of those teams that will
find a way to be that twelfth at large Big
conference champion that is a higher rank than such, And

(57:05):
if they can go out there and beat Tulane, that
will put their name right in the middle of all
of that.

Speaker 3 (57:12):
Well, they can't just beat him. They gotta trounce them.

Speaker 2 (57:15):
They gotta put up those style points you always talk about.

Speaker 4 (57:19):
It'll be interesting to see.

Speaker 1 (57:21):
Also again after brought up Cameron Cook and a buddy
of mine text me and was like, I'm glad you
put him out there because he is one of those
players that might be in the transfer portal again. That
you might want to look at if you need some
help at the running back position. He's already been a
D one high D one player. He went to TCU first,

(57:45):
then he went out to cal Now he's at Jackson State,
Jacksonville State, excuse me, And now he might be on
the move again. I would not be afraid to have
him around here making some things happened.

Speaker 2 (58:02):
Well, we always want talent, but you you want homegrown talent.
You want talent that's from the area that you know
it's drown So like we I'm as a fan of
the University of Texas, as a fan of having hometown products.

Speaker 3 (58:20):
Bring it on. Give me mo, give me mo.

Speaker 1 (58:23):
Give me, give me something in that room that's gonna
move the needle as well.

Speaker 4 (58:28):
If you had to really decide right.

Speaker 1 (58:31):
Now, I know I don't want to get you going
because I already know what's up.

Speaker 4 (58:36):
And you're a Lakers fan.

Speaker 1 (58:39):
And last night Lebron James had his streak come to
an end, but he said we won the game.

Speaker 4 (58:47):
Do you believe Lebron about that streak.

Speaker 1 (58:50):
And winning that game or do you believe that he
was really hurt.

Speaker 2 (58:54):
That he didn't get that number. I believe that he
was happy to won the game. But I also know
the pride of an athlete, and you have to accept
being second fiddle.

Speaker 3 (59:10):
You have to accept being the third guy. I don't
know if.

Speaker 1 (59:18):
You don't know what or he must have fro Well,
here's Lebron the fact.

Speaker 4 (59:25):
That your freezing. Mark. Hold up, let's hear from Lebron James.
Now that the streets for you?

Speaker 8 (59:34):
What feelings did you have any what about noney?

Speaker 1 (59:39):
We won? I do not believe Lebron James in that situation.
I believe he's glad that they won. But that streak,
which was started in two thousand and seven, is something
that I know that he cared about twelve ninety seven
games where he I mean not twelve thousand, twelve hundred

(01:00:02):
ninety seven games where he had ten points or more.

Speaker 4 (01:00:07):
I know that that bothered him. That he doesn't have
that anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
We can hear you now, Mark, and he's gone, and
he's gone again. Well maybe not. We'll get him back
on because you know what time it is. It's time
for his segment, The World's Strongest Man will bring you
his World's Strongest take on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
The Zone. But when we come back, we'll talk to Mark.
Hopefully he'll have everything locked in, but I know he's

(01:00:36):
gonna ask me a question, but I'm gonna give it
back to him because there's something I wanted to ask
him about Chelsea Green in her reign as the Champion.
Right here on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred, The Zone and always free on the iHeartRadio app.
We didn't already have one WWE superstar on the show,

(01:00:57):
but what better way then this time, as it always is,
for our WWU Hall of Famery, World's Strongest Man, d
Mark Henry bringing you his world's Strongest take.

Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
Take it away, big fellas.

Speaker 3 (01:01:12):
Harge, what's up man? You know what timing it?

Speaker 4 (01:01:16):
It's times.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
It's time for the world's strongest.

Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
Take by the world's strongest man. My guess back then
it didn't know me. Now I'm hot, say all on me.

Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Well, I had to go to my hotspot because I
guess everybody's waking up in the hotel swallowing up all
the Wi Fi. We had a little breakdown, but we're back, guys.
You know, I try my best to be positive, but
it's hard for me to be positive when most of
the news in sports is negative. And yesterday, as I

(01:01:59):
was watching the University of texass women do their thing,
also looking at.

Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
The reports of what happened, I was.

Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
Expecting to know the Dame to beat Old Miss, and
I'm like, wait a minute, what's going on? Why is
was O Miss up? They were down by like fifteen. Well,
the reason for that is, I don't know if y'all remember,
just a few couple of years ago, Notre Dame played

(01:02:32):
Texas and beat Texas at the Moody Center because of
one Hannah Hidalgo. Hannah Hidalgo is one of the top
players in college basketball, and she has a bit of
a fire behind her. She has a spark, she has

(01:02:53):
an attitude, and sometimes that can pay the.

Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
The wrong kind of dividends.

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
And that's what happened in the game yesterday, Harge.

Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
She had twenty she had twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
Points, and it looked like that Notre Dame was going
to win the game, and she got kicked out of
the game for taunting. Old Miss made a run and
she hit a couple of big shots back to back,
and she got in her opponent's face and started to

(01:03:34):
clap in her face. Look at me, look at me.
We've seen those players. I love the fire hard. I
love the fact that she has a burning desire to
win and put it to the people that she plays
against and how hard she plays. But you have to

(01:03:56):
be under control, and she was not, and she cost
her team a loss against a team that they should
have beaten and that they were beating. My take is this,
You give her, because she's a veteran, the opportunity to

(01:04:18):
apologize to the team. But my take is she would
not start for me. In the next game. She would play,
and it might be a little slap on the wrist,
but it's the message that goes behind it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:35):
What say you.

Speaker 4 (01:04:39):
I'm a little torn on this one mark.

Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
And the reason why I'm torn is because it's not
the first time it's ever happened where she's kind of
clapped in somebody's face or clapped after a play or
something like that. If you've watched the game, there's a
lot of that. How that's her attitude, that's the way
she always plays. That's nothing new. Maybe it was something

(01:05:03):
that was going on, Maybe the ref that got tired.
Maybe the ref was dealing with something that has happened
throughout the game and they were just at that point.
You see it all the time, and I agree with you.
It doesn't need to be there. You hit a three,
just run down the core, you make a big tough shot.
Yeah I won, Okay, whatever, but you still have to

(01:05:26):
respect the game. And as far as her being benched,
I don't think she'll be bench I mean, she's one
of the best players in the country.

Speaker 4 (01:05:34):
She played what thirty eight She played thirty eight minutes
in that game.

Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
Yesterday they played forty, so she missed the last part
and oh Miss was.

Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
Winning that game. Oh Miss is eight to no on
the season.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
They are a solid basketball team and they're representing the
SEC by the way in this acc SEC Challenge, which
is good that.

Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
They won this.

Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
I believe that that coach for Miss, coach Ivy, understands
who Hannah is.

Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
I think she knows that she's her.

Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Fire and ice when it comes to her team, and
if she wants to discipline her, I think it'll be
something that is done behind closed doors. Don't forget now
you can take money from these kids. They getting paid now,
so you can find them and do something else whe her,
have her run some stairs or do something different.

Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
But I don't know if she is gonna get benched.

Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
It won't be against the University of Texas. It won't
be against South Carolina, it'll be against PV.

Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
It'll be against Southern.

Speaker 14 (01:06:39):
Can I be the person that disagrees with you guys
a little bit? Because I'm looking at the replay of
the ejection. She had to have said something, because that
doesn't seem like much to be ejected for.

Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
Going back to what I said at the very beginning,
it's had to be something about the referee and what
he had or she had said or seen all game long.

Speaker 4 (01:07:00):
Because it didn't even she didn't even much. It wasn't
the clap.

Speaker 14 (01:07:03):
She was already ejected before she started clapping. She was
just looking at her. My point, That's what I'm saying. There,
they do this all the time.

Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
She kept clapping.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
She she kept on, she's she The referee can only
taste so much, Marcus. Like if they've warned them three
times before, like hey, out of the players face, Hey
you dog go chill, hey.

Speaker 3 (01:07:28):
Dow go, come on now, I warned you two times.
What are you gonna do?

Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
Keep winding, keep whining, You're gonna sound like a whiner.

Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Rather than an official.

Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
Well the other part, you should one half coach probably
and said, hey, coach, she's she's she's she's getting close.
Might want to talk to her, might want to pull
her out for a second, whatever it might have been
at that moment, if that's what has happened. But again
I look at it as sometimes these officials they get

(01:07:59):
a little si initive, the moment gets a little tight,
and they do too instead of This is especially in
a close ball game.

Speaker 14 (01:08:08):
The game's competitive. You got players are going to be
on the edge. This doesn't seem like something that was
worthy of and a technical, let alone and ejection.

Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
It looks more like, you know, just a little.

Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
Basketball trash out to me, yeah, yeah, And again again
that's why sometimes these things start to happen. And it
might have been something that was building up. But I agree,
she's an intense basketball player. She is somebody that is
up for a ton of awards this year. She's a special,
special player. But she does need overall, these players need

(01:08:45):
to tone it down. Just go play and who I mean,
whatever you got going on, have it going on, get
it done.

Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
But just go play and hoop.

Speaker 1 (01:08:53):
In that way, a lot of folks aren't losing their mind,
especially with these officials in a close basketball game that
has bearing in so many different ways because, as we
talked about before, you start looking at these these matchups
early in the season, like Texas winning all these games
against ranked opponents. This works for you in those tiers

(01:09:15):
and those quad wins and your seedings and where your
rankings are throughout the season. So I'm all with it.
I'm all with it. When we come back, we'll close
out the show. Send you to Dan Patrick. We got
big games this weekend, and did y'all know that football
is right around the corner. I'll explain right here on
the morning kickoff on Sports Radio and thirteen hundred to

(01:09:38):
Zone and always free.

Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
On the iHeartRadio app. What a great show we have
for you.

Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
Today we had our girl, Chelsea Green, US Women's Champion,
Tag team Champion.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
She has been getting it in and.

Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
Special thanks to Stephanie over at WWE forget that done.

Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
Mark.

Speaker 1 (01:10:02):
I'm going to give you some numbers about what has
happened over the last couple weeks with college football. Obviously,
we got championship weekend that is going on with the
conference championships.

Speaker 4 (01:10:14):
By the way, you're muted, bro.

Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
You look at what's going on in Ohio State versus
Michigan had eighteen point four million viewers last Saturday.

Speaker 4 (01:10:28):
Eighteen point four.

Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
It peaked at twenty million people watching that game. Ohio
State and Texas when they played early in the season,
first game of the year, sixteen point six six.

Speaker 4 (01:10:43):
Million people watched that game.

Speaker 1 (01:10:47):
But the news came out yesterday or today that Texas
versus Texas A and M had thirteen million viewers and
it was the most watched weekday game in the history
of the matchup. It was the most viewed edition of
the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown, and it was the

(01:11:09):
third highest watch.

Speaker 4 (01:11:12):
Game of the year.

Speaker 1 (01:11:14):
And that means Texas had two of those games in
college football.

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
And that's why Texas should be in the playoffs. That's
not just because they have battled back from having losses,
but because they draw, they bring, they bring cachet to
whatever game that they're playing. In hard I don't think

(01:11:43):
that they should not play great teams. Go ahead and
schedule one. I mean, that's just win the games. But
you gotta understand where coach Sarkisian is coming from and
when you schedule those games, and you gonna get that

(01:12:04):
fight from every team you play against. You just have
to be looked that different. And that's just the way
it is, you know. And it's gonna make good for television.
And if I'm the network, I'm saying, no, the committee, Listen,
you're gonna put a team that nobody cares about in

(01:12:25):
this place. At the end of the day, it is
about making money, right yeah, So why are you gonna
put this team in that nobody cares about and we're
gonna have to pay them anyway? When we could have
had Texas and we could have had thirteen to fifteen

(01:12:45):
million people watching, Thank you, luck with you.

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
You might even have more than that because people are
gonna be looking in the.

Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Hope that they lose.

Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
You got your haters got to stay occupied, you know
what I'm saying. They're gonna be out there mad as
all get out when you start to look at that.
So we'll see what ends up happening. Don't forget the
voting takes place. The final college football playoff ranking show
takes place at eleven am on Sunday morning, and we
will all know what the destinations are. But if I'm

(01:13:16):
you start looking for a place in Orlando for you
to go stay. And I don't mean that Disneyland either.
You're gonna be over there looking for a place to stay.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
Also taking on social media today because I'm gonna go
find me some of those toasted cheeses.

Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
We'll be able. Also tonight we got volleyball action. The
tournament will officially begin today as the Texas Women will
be hosting Florida A and M. They will start that
at seven pm tonight at Gregory Jim. You can watch

(01:13:55):
it on ESPN Plus. Also, it'll get started with Penn
State in South Florida A and M. I don't even
know who that is. I don't even know what that is,
but they are in there. Yeah, I'm like, what is that?
It wasn't No, it's supposed to be South Florida. It's USF,
not South Florida A and M. But Texas is supposed
to win that game, and they will have another matchup

(01:14:17):
against Penn State. Penn State is one of the toughest
teams that is out there in Texas and Penn State
always have a battle, So we'll see what ends up
happening there. At football, well football, they don't even have
a coach, So we'll see what happens with that. Hopefully
by the end of the weekend we'll know if Penn.

Speaker 4 (01:14:38):
State does have a coach.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
We also know that the Cowboys ended up getting smacked yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:14:44):
We got a different view of the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
And of course a lot of folks are already off
that bandwagon, the George Pickens bandwagon. The big games of
the weekend mark that Green Bay and Chicago game is
gonna be huge this weekend. Indianapolis and Jacksonville another huge matchup,
and the is it over for them? Is it over

(01:15:07):
for the and the Bears and the Packers, But the
is it over for them game is the Chiefs and
in the Texans Sunday Night Football. Are the Chiefs gonna
get dirt put on them?

Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
I would say yes, I mean I already got you know,
the coffin shit. I just I just need one of
them back hose to pull all.

Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
The dirt on top of them.

Speaker 4 (01:15:33):
Back lane Kiffins.

Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
Get away from that one.

Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
You get on that back lane Kiffin.

Speaker 1 (01:15:41):
But the game that I'm sure all of America they
might they might rival this Ohio State and Michigan game
with eighteen point four million viewers. And that's gonna be
the Titans versus the Browns.

Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Nobody, listen, man, all the people in that city are
not gonna be watching that game.

Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
It's shador is Shador already to take the title of
the best worst quarterback in the league.

Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
And I mean, if.

Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
He's really praying, he should really get on his knees
and pray that Deshaun Watson comes back and shines and
they decide to trade him somewhere else so he can
have a wonderful existence in his development.

Speaker 4 (01:16:32):
Yeah, this is good. Well, Mark picked him.

Speaker 1 (01:16:35):
Mark picked the Texans also in the in the in
the in that matchup against Kansas, Marcus is not happy
about that. Ike is not happy about that. But we'll
see what ends up happening in that move. Also, I
brought it up just a little bit ago. The World
Cup is back. It's coming and they're doing the draw

(01:16:56):
today to see who will be in who bracket.

Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
And I'm hopeful, hopeful that the US.

Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
Team is not one of them in one of those
brackets of death where they don't get a chance to
enjoy that. Because when it comes to soccer and the
USA team, a lot of folks are not happy with
the performances that we have seen from them. It is
going to be a huge, huge event.

Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Then they changed the coaching.

Speaker 4 (01:17:26):
They did change the coaching.

Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
They changed a lot of things, and they just need
to let some of these younger players play and if
they can do that, things will be a lot different
for them.

Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
So we'll see what ends up happening. But they will
be doing that.

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
And before I let you go, Mark is Giannis Antetokupo
staying or going?

Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
I think he's going.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Is if he is injured, he's gonna have a miraculous
recovery as soon as they trade him.

Speaker 4 (01:17:59):
That's how. That's how to ask go go down. It's
amazing that a miracle. I'm bad. I can move my leg.
I'm bad.

Speaker 1 (01:18:09):
I want to thank Chelsea Green for joining us. If
you miss any parts of that interview, make sure you
get over to the podcast page wherever you get your podcasts.
Marcus is going to put that up separately. Make sure
you pay attention to our social media's as well, and
don't forget we will break down all of the findings
of the college football rankings and the championship.

Speaker 4 (01:18:32):
Weekend right here.

Speaker 1 (01:18:34):
On sports Radio Am thirteen hundred to zone and always
free on the iHeart Radio app. For Mark Henry, for Marcus,
I'm Harball Harsh and just remember this, don't believe everything
you see, because even salt looks like sugar.

Speaker 3 (01:18:47):
