(02:09):
But you'll get a chance to win a pair of
tickets to go see Laney Wilson. Your last chance to
get a chance to win some tickets to see Laney Wilson.
All right, I think it's I think we're all in consensus.
When we say that our picks yesterday started off with
the Green Bay Packers, at least you and I had

(02:30):
the Green Bay Packers. Marcus's teams hadn't started playing yet.
They'll play over the weekend when we talk about the NFL.
But the Green Bay Packers are a team I believe
that has shown in.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Two games short week two games that.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
They may be one of the best teams in the NFL.
They went out last night and dominated Mark. It was
a domination from the word go in that game, from
the way that Marcus's MVP Jordan Love looks, the way

(03:08):
that Michael Parsons, by the way, is looking like Michaeh Parsons,
and you start to look at the complementary pieces.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
That they have on that team.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
We always talk about complimentary football being able to do
something different. They beat them twenty seven to eighteen last night.
And now Washington, who we thought was going to be
one of those teams in the NFC East that it
still can be, they did not look right and they
lost Austin Eckler last night to a torn achilles. What

(03:46):
is it about the Green Bay Packers that you've seen
that you're like Okay, this this team's a little bit
different than what I thought they.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Were going to be.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
The athleticism and the versatility in the players. They have
a lot of players on their defense that can play
multiple positions, so as it just creates all these mismatches.
And even though they took a down grade at defensive tackle,
they still have two defensive tackles that are three hundred

(04:17):
and thirty three hundred and forty pounds, guys that don't
go backwards. They're not as talented as Clark athletically, but
they're just as big and they know their role. You know,
always say you know, just do your job or know
your role, like Ron Simmons used to say in which
The Rock made famous, if you know what you're supposed

(04:39):
to do for the rest of your team to have success.
The Green Bay Packers are doing it in these last
two games better than anybody. Just doing your job and
let the guys that have the skills set to get
to the quarterback do so well.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
You look at what the offensive side of the ball
was able to do Jordan Love and he just looks
like a totally different football come through them. And when
the move was made for Jordan Love, and they finally
let Aaron Rodgers go. Everybody was questioning it because across

(05:16):
the nation, those big, big shows, they were talking about
how they didn't think he had matured, or how how
can they get rid of Aaron Rodgers and go with
this Jordan Love. Every time he steps on the field
he looks like he doesn't know what he's doing. Well,
they're eating a lot of crow now because this man

(05:37):
has gone out there proven to be the leader that
he is. But more importantly, he takes care of the football.
And as a quarterback, that's your job. Don't give them
the ball, and he takes care of it. He had
two touchdowns last night. He used his tight end unbelievably,

(05:58):
Tucker Craft, and that dude had one hundred and twenty
four yards receiving as the tight end, and the plays
that they were designing for him had him wide open on.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
What you can get and that defense was given that
to you, so you have to take it until they
decide no, let's let's change that, and then you can
start doing other things. They realized that they didn't have
enough coverage to keep people from going deep, so they

(06:31):
allocated that extra man in the secondary, which made the
middle of the field open. It's like damned if you do,
damned if you don't. They Jordan Love was actually playing.
He threw the ball away like four times and because
he wanted to live to play another down and more

(06:52):
quarterbacks need to do that, like you. Sometimes it's just
not going to work out. He made very good decisions
last night. Yeah, he looked, he looked the part. And Marcus,
I'll give you a lot of credit. Mand you picked
him to be your MVP.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I'm not saying he is MVP right now, but he
is working his way because his team is too and
zero back to back weeks they played, but they were
both at home. They beat Detroit handily, and then they
go out and they beat Washington Commanders, who a lot
of people are looking at. But the story of the
game is Michael Parsons. Michael Parsons has gone out there

(07:30):
and done what we've seen for years that we weren't
expecting to not see anymore. And here's Michael Parsons. And
listen to the fans and what they said about Michael Parsons. Yeah,

(07:52):
thank you Jerry, because Jerry got he did what Jerry said.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
He would never do.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
He would never put it ego about money, right, what
Jerry said, His ego was never.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Gonna be a player's money.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
He was never gonna hold it against anybody because that's
the negotiations.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
What did he do?

Speaker 3 (08:11):
He held it against Micah and his agent, And now
Micah is drawing those comparisons to Reggie White. After Reggie
White was traded to the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
People talk about the trade, comparing it to Reggie White
when he came here.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
And you know what Reggie White did when he came here.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
He brought a title in the time.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
One of your expectations for this team, what do you
see this team ceiling?

Speaker 4 (08:34):
What can they do?

Speaker 6 (08:35):
I think we can be We can do great things
back the end of the day, as y'all know, it
just goes weak by We gotta consistently put that effort,
that energy every week and then great things can happen.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
We can get back to that Bowl. And I honestly,
I don't.

Speaker 6 (08:48):
Want to compare myself to Reggie at all. He had
like seventy sacks and four years like that's.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Like unheard of.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
But if I can just come close to his legacy,
I'll be a very happy person.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Wow yeah, Wow, humbled too. Oh my gosh, why would
you why would you.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Get rid of a player like that? Exactly?

Speaker 2 (09:05):
You know, and we're talking about green Bay, and we
talked about Mike's and Michael Parsons effect. Let's talk about
Washington's offense for a second. I said that the Commanders
would scored twenty seven points. That's an easy low number

(09:25):
for the Commanders with all of the offensive weapons that
they have. For them to not be able to score
twenty points is it's crowning that defense. That that offense
is so explosive, so much versatility, so much speed, and

(09:47):
they looked like an average team last night to that defense.
Gary was on point, Parsons was on point.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
What do you do like that defense? I'm so glad
that I picked that defense up on fantasy. You know
what I mean? Points the defense.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
At what I'm fifteen They had fourteen points a defense.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
That's like offensive points. If you get eight points on defense,
you're great. That's good. Last week I didn't get that
many points. Come out team was terrible. But it is
what it is.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
But you know, I make it about fantasy just to
be a clown. But that defense is so scary, man,
and they force you to throw the ball before you're
ready off platform, and if you can get the I
really do think that he's the best scrambling quarterback in

(10:51):
the NFL. To throw the ball away and get sacked
the way that he did last night, what's gonna.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Happen to everybody else?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Be interesting to see how this season goes, because to
your point, that defense and they're scary, and when you
got a guy like Michael Parsons coming off of the
edge doing what he wants to do, challenging the people
the way that he wants to challenge them, this is
something that all these teams consistently are going to have

(11:23):
to try to devise those schemes to keep that pressure
off of their quarterback. The ain't no really yeah, there
ain't no play action coming off of that, because they're
gonna meet you at the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
We're just getting started on a field.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Good Friday edition up the Morning Kickoff. Coming up next,
we'll hear from coach Sark as he gets ready for
a big weekend and he tries to figure out how
to keep his team intense for these matchup right here
on the morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred,
The Zone. Welcome back to the morning kickoff right here
on a feel good Friday edition on Sports Radio AM

(11:58):
thirteen hundred The Zone. Coming up in the next segment,
the Hard Knocks Life, we'll talk college football and mainly
the SEC big matchup between Notre Dame and Texas A
and M. And you'll hear from a local superstar that
plays for Notre Dame that you'll get a chance to
hear him talking about the matchup. We'll also have a

(12:21):
chance to win some tickets from Laney Wilson. We'll have
a Laney Wilson ticket giveaway coming up in just a
little bit as well. But Mark, yesterday we got to
speak to Coach Shark his final media availability before they
get ready to take on the UTEP Miners. UTEP a
forty one and a half point dog in this matchup,

(12:44):
and so Coach Shark had a lot of things running
through his mind, but here's his opening statement. First and foremost,
great opportunity for us.

Speaker 7 (12:53):
We talked about it on Monday, but to be back
at home, playing in front of our crowd, afternoon game
and exciting time. Obviously, you know, with the way our
schedule is formatted, we get three straight home games and
then we're not home for a while, and this year
in particular, we only have six home games, and so
cherishing these opportunities that we have in DKR, making the

(13:15):
most of them from an experience standpoint, but also making
the most of them from a team perspective, and how
do we make the most of them. That's playing more
consistent and clean football than we have through two weeks,
and it's easy to it's easy to see from an
offensive perspective what that looks like in areas where we
need to improve, But I think that's collectively. I think

(13:37):
our penalties need to come down, we need to play
a cleaner brand of football. With that, I don't want
to lose our edge. I don't want to lose our aggressive,
our speed, our physicality, because I think that is something
that we take a lot of pride in. But we
got to play smarter football and that is something that
we're striving for.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
So it should be a.

Speaker 7 (13:55):
Great day at dk R, looking forward to a lot
of guys hopefully get an opportunity to play. We've been
pushing more young guys to play, they get more reps
in practice and hopefully we can get them in and
get them in earlier in the ballgame this week.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Think about that.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
He's always trying to find a way to get those
younger players get some guys that normally don't get a
chance to play. But the reason and how you get
that done you have to play collectively as a squad
together and understand that for my brothers to get in
to play, I have to play to the elite level

(14:30):
in which I'm in front of you for Yeah, that's
the only way you and I can continue to get
and cultivate the program is if we go out and
handle our business that way, the depth continues to show
on a football team. These opportunities for these guys are
so important with these as people keep saying these are

(14:50):
non competitive football games, but those reps are important the
entire time.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Yeah, I mean if you don't if you don't get
the work in, you're definitely not gonna see the guys.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Get the guys, get get the.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Guys work in game situation that are not starters. Even
the you know, like you're rotational guy, he's going to
get some work because he's gonna be on special teams.
He's gonna see the field like you might get dinged
up or get your bell rung or something.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
You have to come out for a second. They get
a couple of plays, but that.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Third and fourth guy, like more more more times than not,
they're gonna stand on the sideline and not get their
unifrom dirty at all. So like, if you want that
guy to play, and that's your brother, and you're like, man,
I want you to get your get your reps in.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
You got to go out there and make quick work
of people, no doubt. And that's the only way it is.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
We talked about that, both of us, Like yesterday and
the break we both had family members or friends on
the team that didn't play much and we wanted them
to get reps.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
So we pushed out the starters.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yep, yep, you got to Now that's the only way
that that this is going to continue, iron sharpening, iron,
You got to get those reps. One of the biggest
stories is the injury bug that is on this Texas
football team. DeAndre Moore, Emmitt Moseley, there's so many guys
that we are are hoping we'll get a chance to play.
But coach Sark said, hey, this is why these games

(16:22):
are so important.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
To not have those guys have to go.

Speaker 7 (16:26):
All those guys will are doubtful to out this week.
I don't have concerns about long term effects about any
of them, but I think we would be putting them
at at risk for long term effects if we forced
them back too soon. So that's where those four guys
are at now.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Those guys are Trey Wisner, Alex January, Davonte uh DeAndre Moore,
and of course Emmitt Moseley. So there's some opportunities for
the freshman day Day day Aylen McCutcheon is going to
get an opportunity to play. He's earned that right to
be able to get out there, So it's okay to

(17:07):
call him. Well, I want for our listeners that may
not know who he is, okay, I had to let
them know what Yeah what his what his real name government, Yeah,
Dayalen Dalen McCutcheon. And so he's going to get his
opportunity to go out there and participate this weekend. But
you also have to understand this. This team is a

(17:28):
forty one and a half point favorite. So coach Sark
was asked about what are you doing with the intensity
at practice to keep these guys locked in?

Speaker 4 (17:38):
Yeah? No, it's a great question.

Speaker 7 (17:40):
I thought the intensity was as high as it's been
all season Tuesday and Wednesday, and I credit that to
our Scout Team players. And you think about a lot
of these guys on Scout Team. They're fighting for playing time,
they want to play, and so that's a lot of
their opportunity to show us, you know, their ability to play,
how to play, and so they raised the level of

(18:01):
intensity and that put a challenge on you know, the
first team offense the first team defense to perform. And
so as that intensity rose, I think you could feel.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
It on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 7 (18:11):
And we owe a ton to the guys that were
working on Scout Team this week because I thought they
gave an excellent look. It was highly competitive. There's very
talented people on both sides of the ball on those
two teams, and so it made practice intense, it made
it fun. I think the guys appreciated the work that
we got. Definitely on Tuesday and Wednesday this.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Week, Wow and hard. You have the ability to not
have to play games. Your team is so deep and
so stacked that you can play your third and fourth
guy and not have a big drop off, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
So like, yeah, sit.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Them out, you know, at least for the next two weeks.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
But against Florida they.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Have high level Division one players, well actually three weeks
because you send them out this week, you send him
out next week possibly against Sam Houston State and then
or Sam Houston. I know they took the State off
Sam Houston, and then you have the buy going into Florida.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
So you got a.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
Bye week coming out three weeks, so you got three
weeks four for a whole month off for Trey Wiser
because he didn't play last week Perth. Now he'll have
an opportunity to sit out. So those are those are
the things that you continue to look at. But coach
Shark asked, was asked, and actually I asked the question,
but it was more about he didn't give us an
identity of where his team was.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
So I said, what is your overall overall view of.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Your squad after two weeks heading into week three?

Speaker 7 (19:44):
I'd be remiss if I didn't say, we've got a
really good defense. You know, these guys are are they're physical,
they're fast, they're smart, they're ball howking we're we're we
are balanced on defense. When I say that, meaning we
can stop the run, we can stop the pass we're attacking.
And so I think that definitely when you think about

(20:05):
where are we at as a team right now, is
say that's the strength of our team, and we.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
Got really good depth over there.

Speaker 7 (20:10):
We're able to play a lot of a lot of players,
and we've got good experience on that side of the ball.
I think offensively, I think we all can feel and
see potential, and now it's it's our job as coaches
to continue to push them and try to propel them
so that it's we can drop the word potential and
we can say this is who we are, and we
see glimpses of it, and we're seeing things that definitely

(20:33):
excite us, but we're seeing things that can be frustrating
too as coaches. And that's our job as coaches is
to find this level of consistency on the offensive side
of the ball. And I think on special teams right now,
I'm seeing a lot of what ifs. You know, we
had two opportunities to block punts that we just miss
in each game. We had a couple of kickoff returns

(20:54):
that we felt like could have been big returns, and
it was one block that just didn't happen. That that
we don't get the big return, and so for us
and in that aspect, it's like we got to get
over the what if on special teams and start becoming.
And again this early in the season, as I said
earlier in the week, I don't know if week three.
I don't know if anybody wants to be a finished

(21:16):
product in week three. You know, it's a long way
to go. Uh and and but but we have plenty
to work on that I think we worked on this week.
And and my goal is that we see growth, that
we see growth in the things that we're emphasizing, and
if we can continue to do that, find areas where
we can improve, apply it, and the players work on
it and get better at it from one week to
the next. That's the incremental growth that we're gonna need

(21:38):
as this season continues on.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
You know, the way you build confidence a success, you
have to say, Okay, we're gonna run the ball, and
we're gonna run the ball five times in a row.
Right down they throw guys, we're not gonna punt. You
got to mentally challenge your team take to this. So
skilled and they.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Have so much talent, sometimes you overthink, I really hope
that they try to dominate and enforce and put their will,
impose their will on the teams.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
I think that's what coach Sark is looking for as well.
You try to push and push and push. So we'll
see what happens this weekend. Coming up, we'll talk SEC,
check out the slate, and see what's next right here
on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
Hundred The Zone.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
As we look around the college football landscape, people keep
saying it Mark, you brought it up, dang man. We
already at week three of the college football season. Some
teams are already going into their fourth game. If you're
Tarleton State, you're getting ready to play your fourth game
in a season to where you know, hey, that countdown,

(22:55):
the final countdown is starting to pick up.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
We're getting closer and closer to s play.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
And speaking of the SEC, we're gonna get into the
matchups of the weekend tomorrow at eleven am on ESPN two.
You've got the Ohlahoma Sonas making the trip to Temple Philadelphia.
Lincoln Financial feel they are twenty three and a half

(23:23):
point favored in this matchup, and I believe the story
of the season so far.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Is the quarterback for Oklahoma. John ma Tier is him.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
He has shown up in Oklahoma and pretty much change
the dynamic.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Of that football team.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
We knew that the defense was gonna play well because
that's what Vinibles does, but being able to see what
this offense has become with this quarterback has changed the
view in Oklahoma.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
That's why they are the number thirteen team.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
At eleven am on ABC, you have the out of
the Bayma Crimson Tide where the lady said, if she
would have won the power Ball, she was gonna pay
the seventy million dollar buyout for Kaitlin de Boor and
was gonna pay the money to get Bill Burn out
of Tuscaloosa. She just wasn't having it no more. But

(24:24):
they're still ranked number nineteen. They're one and one on
the season, and they're twenty one and a half point
favorite in this matchup. We gotta see how connected Alabama
truly is. You know when people say that they block
out the noise, this is their opportunity to truly block
out the noise. Because it's loud over there in dusk closer,

(24:47):
they gonna have to find a way to block it out.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Mark I'm I'm thinking that he's gone hard.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Come on, man, really, I really do because it's not
even just a million.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
It's just not his fault. I'ma don't have that kind
of money to do that. Do they.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
I don't know if they do it, don't, but I
know this. Steve Saban's office is still in the building. Nick, Nick,
Nick Saban, Yeah, like you cannot do that. You can't
do it. That's you gonna let your your ex live
in the house with you and your new wife.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Miss Terry is not letting Nick Saban come out of retirement.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
There ain't no way there is you're talking about. He's
a football coach, Nick Saban.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Miss Terry said, Nick, you look great on TV.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
Less stress. We get time to spend together. You think
coach Brown gonna try to come back. I Miss Sally
told him, hey, man, let's go to enjoy our grandkids
and go hit the golf ball.

Speaker 8 (25:49):
That was a compromise. Right now. You can still have
an office up there. You can go, you can go there.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
He can have an office in Tuscaloosa, just not in
my building.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
That's fair.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
And the alumni and everybody like they see Saban there,
They're never the band the scab is off again.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
They rip the scab off every week. And if you lose, oh,
when you win, they put some of that topical on it,
They put that sab on that and they put a
new band aid on. Let it air out. They beat
it real nice. But when they lose, rip the band
aid and.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
The scab off right just and it's and it's back
to being a problem.

Speaker 8 (26:30):
Not even when they lose, it's also when they don't
win the way they want to win.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Yeah, you don't even have to win. You can just
play bad and everybody is.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Like man under coach Saban and you know it was
more more discipline than this.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
But that's the comparison.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
If you can, if you can eliminate coach Saban from
the equation, then I think you will have a fair shake.
But as long as the shadow this is, this is
a statue of saving that. I mean, yeah, you got
to walk by his stature to get to your office
and he's still in the building.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
That's not fair to him as a coach. But I
don't believe that Kaylen de Boor is a bad coach.
I don't either, evenin the guy where he is.

Speaker 4 (27:13):
They get that job without being good at what he does.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
I just think the standards at Alabama are the standards.
And to your point, people expect them to what Marcus said,
People expect them to win by twenty.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Every game, Like, how are they if they're that bad?

Speaker 3 (27:28):
How are they a twenty one point favorite over Wisconsin
who is two and oer.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
This is where the Times road.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
There were great players that came to Tuscaloosa because of
Sabing and his legacy and how many guys they put
in the NFL him gone.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
They don't have the money.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
The industry there is not Austin, which is why not
Jeordan walked out. That's why he knew that he was
not going to be able to compete with that new
system exactly. So what Alabama fans need to be doing
is raising more money, right. They need to put the
cookie jar in all the stores or.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Whatever you do.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Everybody donate, like you're gonna have to wheel work for food.
You're gonna have to put something out there for them
to get some money.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Because it's not the same.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
No, it's not. And you look at Downs. Downs was
in Alabama, so.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
What's saying the quarterback Julia Sam was there too, right,
and they were like, oh, y'all gonna pays what? Yes,
all right, well we on the way, yeah say less
say and they did and look at look at look
at how they're doing. You're right.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
There's a big two, big time matchups that are going
to be going on in the SEC as well. The
Georgia Bulldogs will travel to Kneeland Stadium in Knoxville to
take on the Tennessee Volunteers. Georgia ranked number six and
Tennessee ranked number fifteen. Both teams are two and ozer.
It's a hot ticket, three hundred dollars for the lowest
price ticket. I still believe that Georgia is the better

(29:04):
football team. Tennessee's gonna have some challenges. They got a
good quarterback and uh Aguilar five hundred and thirty five
yards passing five touchdowns. He controls that team. He's done
a really good job. But Georgia's defense is Georgia's defensive.
Kirby Smart is coming in there to move furniture.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
Listen, they gonna go in there and they're gonna move
furniture around. They're gonna read, they're gonna reconstruct the roof
and everything they gonna go. They're gonna put solar panels up.
They gonna take it. They got the garage. A're gonna
have one of those caves. No, they're gonna put one
of those electric outlets in there.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
They're gonna get an electric card. They changed everything Georgia
has like there will be no.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Cigars smoking for tennessee. You know they light the cigars.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
Up and everything. No, put it out your mind.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
And the big time matchup of the night, six thirty
Texas A and M traveling to Notre Dame. Notre Dame is
zero to one. They've had time to read group and work.
But Texas A and M. I'm putting a lot of
love on Texas A and M. So we shall see
what they're going to do. And we'll finish it off
with Vanderbilt and South Carolina on the SEC Network. By

(30:14):
the way, we are your home for Texas football. Texas
will be taking on youtub three fifteen kickoff on the

(31:13):

Wilson September the eighteenth at the Moody Center. Also, make
sure you tune into the Craig Wait Show this afternoon

I didn't give a shout out to the Hendrickson Hawks
last night. They came from behind twenty four points to
get the victory against the Hayes Hawks forty two to
forty one in an epic come from behind victory for

(31:58):
the Hendrickson Hawks.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Uh Mark. This weekend, you know, we're gonna be out
there for.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Longhorns game Day and we'll give you the update on
all the things that are happening this weekend.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
But there is gonna be higher than this last week.
You think it's gonna be a little bit hotter. I heard, man,
I gotta dress lightly.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
But you know what else is gonna be going on
at Longhorn City Limits at L is coming to Austin,
Texas Bank.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
Oh, I forgot big Big Boy. That's right.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
The folks over at Longhorn City presented presented by Hollister
has now brought in Big Boy this weekend at AL
shouty and I cannot wait. I know a lot of
folks like to go over to to the concerts before there,

(32:57):
before the games.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Everybody goes over there.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Last week they had another big star, and so you
start to think about these shows that they bring here
Texas does an unbelievable job of that.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Texas does an.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Unbelievable job of bringing talent to the stage out here.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
They always talk about Austin.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
The the the live music Capital and all that stuff.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
Well, bringing Big Boy in and the Peterson Brothers will
be one.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Which one is yours speaker box or the Love below.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Super Cadillac. Yeah, I'm old school, old school.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Yeah, that's when Andre three thousand was truly Andre three
thousand instead of Andre.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
I'm in out of space. You know, hey, man, you
can't be smoking that you here on the state line.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
I mean, just certain things that my man is doing,
you gotta look at it in a different light. So
I let him make it every once in a while.
But for them to be able for for what Texas
has been able to do. As far as the festivities,
as I said, Big Boy and the Peterson Brothers will
be breaking it off. Last Saturday they had Cory Morrow

(34:12):
and y'all out boy they were on there.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
But now you bring in Big Boy. That's what it's
all about, man.

Speaker 3 (34:19):
And the live start will start at eleven forty five,
So it's a Big Boy and the Peterson's that will
be performing this weekend.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I'm wondering if you know, normally I break out and
go and try to make sure you get get comfortable
in front of the TV.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
Yes, sir, I may stay and listen to Big Boy.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
You listen to him in your car all the way home,
and just hey, I'm gonna put a playlist.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Together for you. You just hit the car. You just
told me it was gonna be hot.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Mark, I know it's gonna be hot, but big Boy, Yeah,
y'all brought y'all.

Speaker 8 (34:54):
Bring up Andre three thousands some on going joke, It's like,
is it before after Erica Badu, because that's when he
started changing up after right after Erica Badu, That's when
he started becoming an alien and flying in spaceships.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Yeah, yeah, I'm not working with that one. I'm I'm
leaving comedy.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yeah, I'm leaving the Erica Badu wildness to him. But
make sure you hidrate during the game too, Because Mark
just told you it's supposed to be hot.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
What is that weather supposed to look like tomorrow?

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Well, I mean you can go on the computer and
find out like what the weather forecast is going to be,
But I'm just gonna let you know, right, Now I
believe them when they say it's gonna be hogh you
believe them.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
I just believe they.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
They're batting the thousand when it comes to the heat.
When it comes to the heat, August, remember August. No,
it's been a minute. It was twenty days. Yeah, over
one hundred. Like we need to quit, man, we gotta
do something with this global warming.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
Man, Man, what yeah, that's what it is. How would okay?

Speaker 3 (36:00):
It says that it's gonna be ninety four tomorrow we
start the pregame show, It'll be ninety when we do
the pregame show, and by the time we're off the air,
it's gonna be ninety two.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
So I mean, that's that's what But I mean, that's
what it was. Last week. It was hot out there.
It was eighty three or eighty four.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
If I was sitting next to you, what did you
ask me? Can I get some of your water?

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Well? I was choking and.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
You was hot because I saw that towel come out
of your pocket to ripe your head the whole time.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
You know what, I sent down a new guy to
go get some water. You good, Jake, Jake went and
got us some water. How cool is Jake Man. That
was a good fine And from what I'm hearing, that
was cam Cam found Cam's buddy. Yeah he went to Texas. Yeah,
good job Cam. But hold on, let me get.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
Back to to you talking about I was choking. You
wasn't choking at that time. You was just finished.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
What had happened was we got juicy. Lucy brought us
and I took a bite.

Speaker 4 (37:07):
You don't remember me taking a bite of the burger,
and then I was.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Like, I can hear it all in my ear the
whole time. He was over there smacking.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
I need the waterfall your drink. And then you were like,
hey man, you better waterfall.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
You don't remember. Oh yeah, I got it wrong video.
I'm a poster that don't do that.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Listen, that's gonna that's k FAE. That's gonna draw a
line between us and you post that picture.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
That's all sizzling right there.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
That's my man over there smelling like bacon because he
was so fired up last week here.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
But yeah, make sure you come up there and hang out.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
I know it's gonna be hot, but big Boy will
be able to cool you down and get you fired
up for the game. The Peterson brothers will be there
and just come and hang out on Bebo Boulevard because
we'll be at hook Him hang Out. Show starts at twelve,
and you can also listen to Third and Longhorn before
our show kicks off to get you prepped up for
our show, followed by Craig Way, Roger Wallace and Will

(38:11):
Matthews being able to bring you the game. You'll have
postgame and then you will also have Third and no
postgame show tonight, right, I mean on tomorrow night, right.

Speaker 4 (38:22):
No postgame because the game is so late.

Speaker 8 (38:24):
Okay, I think it's because of preempted Round Rock Express.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Oh that is true too, don't forget about that too.
Round Rock Express tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
They're almost done with their home season and the baseball
season is almost over, So get out and check out
the Round Rock Express this weekend after you watch the
Texas Longhorns. Coming up next, we're gonna talk to Tommy
Yarsh of Dallascowboys dot Com get the latest. Why is
Gentavian Clowney showing up and then not staying. We'll talk

(38:53):
about it right here on the morning kickoff on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred. Those all welcome back to our
number two of the morning kickoff. On a feel good
Friday edition on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone
and Hour number one, we talked about the Washington Commanders
getting punched in the face by the Green Bay Packers

(39:14):
and Michael Parsons showing out. We also let you hear
from coach Sark and we talked about the games of
the week. But right now we're gonna go up to
the Metroplex and talk to our guy Tommy Yarish.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Of Dallascowboys dot com.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
You can follow them at Tommy Underscore, Yarish and Tommy.
The word of the day is trade. And the reason
why we say that is because Jared Jones traded Michael
Parsons and all he does is keep getting better. But
they tried to bring in Jadavian Clowney and he left
with no deal. Can you tell us the latest on

(39:48):
what you've seen heard on the Jadavion Clowney situation?

Speaker 9 (39:54):
Yeah, sure, thing if you have humor me just just
for a moment here, Mike. I wanted to start by
apologizing to you, Mike and Mark for missing last week.
It slept through my alarm and I told you guys
I'd be here and I didn't. There's no excuse for that.
I know we got back late, but that's something I'd
take seriously. So I just wanted to apologize to both
of you and appreciate you guys having me back on.

(40:15):
As far as Jadavian Clowne goes, yeah, he was in
the building for a visit on Wednesday. We saw him
watching practice during during the media is viewing portion, we
get to watch the first couple of periods of practice.
So he was out there on this kind of awning
that overlooks the practice field and left out of contract.
I don't think necessary, not necessarily because Dallas didn't want

(40:38):
to get one done. I think it's kind of a
two way street, right. Shadavian Cloinne is a free agent,
so he's welcome to make his own decisions as to
where he wants to go, so I think he's still
weighing his options. I think there's still interests from Dallas's side,
just because they could use a veteran in that past
rushing room, and we've got a ton of talent in there,
but it's a fairly young room in terms of defense

(40:58):
to the end, so that's still then that they're monitoring
and a situation that they're monitoring. But the visit was
just kind of a starting point, So we'll see if
they decided to kick the tires on that here in
the coming days.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Well, Clowney is a big name, but is there anybody
else out there on the market that at defensive end
outside linebacker that can play a hybrid.

Speaker 4 (41:19):
That Dallas could use to help fill that spot.

Speaker 9 (41:24):
Off the top of my head, Mark, I can't think
of somebody. I think they look at Clowney. And you know,
for all the talk of pass rushers, and you know,
when you think of defensive anarticularly typically think of guys
that go and get sacked, I think it's just as
important to be able to set the edge of the
run game and stop the run. And that's what Todaevian
Clowney has made a career out of your former number
one overall pick back in twenty fourteen. And sure he's

(41:46):
been he's had you know, close to double digit SAX seasons.
He hasn't gotten into double digits yet in his career,
but he had nine and a half just two years
ago for the Ravens. So he can still help you
kind of in both departments. And so I think this
is a guy that can help Dallas and especially in
the run game. You know, I wouldn't expect him if
he does join the Cowboys team to you know, lead

(42:09):
the team in sacks or get twelve and a half
sacks or anything like that. But when you talk about
their commitment to stopping the run, I think he does
a good job of that. And you know, Brian Shoanenheimer
was talking about it the other day. It's hard to
find these guys, and it's hard to be able to
fill your roster with veteran guys who can kind of
do everything at that position. So that's why they were

(42:29):
taking the tires on Shavian clown. Of course, I and
Brian Shotenheimer spent a year together in Seattle back at
twenty nineteen. I know, you know, Shoy was the offensive coordinator,
so there's not too much crossover there. But he's a
big relationships guy, and so no surprise that all the
two of them built a relationship and so he got
a familiar face back in the building.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
Well, I wanted to ask you this because there are
some guys that are on the squad but they are
not participating in the games.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
Because they're being lost left off the active roster.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Obviously, Mazi Smith is a name that keeps popping up,
but more importantly for people around here, what's the latest
on Jaden Blue and why he continues to be an active.

Speaker 9 (43:12):
Yeah, so you had fifty three man roster, but it's
only forty six on game day. I really truly think,
Mike that it's just kind of a numbers war now,
I'll say a war for lack of a better term
right now, but they're kind of limited because you'll also
usually see a couple of guys from the practice squad
get bumped up to help out special teams. And right now,

(43:33):
I think Jayden Blue is still kind of working to
crack that starting running back rotation. I think Miles Sanders
with the red zone fumble last week, being talked down
by Zach Bond on the long run is something that
you know a lot of people look at that play
and say, man, Jaden Blue would have housed that and
nobody would have been close to him, and I think

(43:53):
that's fair. But at the same time, you know there's
a whole week of practice that goes into this, and
Jayden Blue's next step is putting together some really, really
really good practices to be able to take that next
step up, and ultimately, if he does become active, it's
going to be because the staff has confidence that I'm
not saying they don't at this point in time, but

(44:14):
I do think that it's probably because he just needs
to show a little bit more and he got to
keep in mind, this guy's a rookie. Sure he had
some flash of the training camp, but he's also been
dealing with injuries. So I think there's still a lot
of unknown from this Cowboy staff when they look at
Jaden Blew as a player that he can certainly help them,
and he will help them. I think it's really just
a matter of time.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Jerry Jones mentioned that with the two draft picks he got,
it didn't necessarily mean that he would wait for the
draft to use them, that he could possibly try to
package those picks to try to get somebody that could
help them right now he has he alluded to the
fact that he was willing to do that with anybody

(44:54):
in particular.

Speaker 9 (44:56):
Not in particular Mark. I think that's just a typical
Jerry Jones. I'll say Jerry ism. I think because he's
he's all but is twenty four to seven for these
guys right when they've got an opportunity on the table.
You know, even if it's one that they create and
one that they seek out, that they always look into it.

(45:17):
I don't know how much looking into it they have
done with that as of right now, but you know,
you think that even if they don't package a player
like that, or you know, package those deals to those
picks excuse me to get a player. You look at
these next two draft classes, and those first round picks
are going to be really, really valuable. There are some

(45:37):
great players. Now if the Packers are playing like they
played last night, it's going to be a later first
round pick. And I was going to chatter about how
you know it might as well be a second round pick.
Now I get that, But at the same time, you know,
that's still a top thirty two player in these draft classes,
and you can certainly find some talent at twenty nine
and thirty and thirty one at thirty two. It's worked

(45:59):
out for so many teams, and obviously you would like
to have a higher pick and get a better player.
But like we talked about on the show a couple
of weeks ago, guys. You know, Will McLay and his
staff and the scouting department do a really good job
and they have done arguably a better job than anybody
else in the league on hitting on their draft picks,
and they trust their evaluation process and it has really

(46:21):
really worked out for them so far, especially in the
first round. Sure, they've had their misses, everybody does. But
if they decide to keep those picks too, it can
it can be equally as beneficial.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
Well, it's looking like a herschel Walker trade for the
for the Green Bay. Uh, And it looks it looks
like the Cowboys are the ones.

Speaker 4 (46:40):
They've got hoes like they they have. They should have
got more for that.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
Don't you think they should have got at least another
second or third round pick?

Speaker 9 (46:50):
I do, I really do. And I think that was
my biggest thing with with the trade is, you know,
because of the timing of it, I think they were
they were kind of limited on their return they could
get and they just kind of had to get to
a resolution, and this was the resolution that was on
the table. It's what they felt was best. You know,
Kenny Clark is a great player and he's going to

(47:13):
be really good for Dallas this year. I think he
had a great first game last week. And you know,
on the flip side too, Michael Parsons is a really
good player. Like I'm not surprised at all that he's
doing what he's doing in green Bay because he did
it for four years here in Dallas, and I mean
it's no surprise whatsoever. The guy is a freak of nature.

(47:33):
He's one of the best pass rushers in the league,
if not the best. I mean, you just see the
attention that goes to him and the way Green Bay's
defense is able to rally around that. It's going to
open so many things for them. They're going to be
a really, really scary team to work with this year.
But you know, Dallas has We're still room to grow
for the Cowboys. I think the Packers would say the
same things about themselves. But I completely agree with you, Mark.

(47:57):
I think that that Dallas could have gotten more at
one point in time, and for a player like Parsons,
they should have.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
We're talking to Tommy Yars of Dallascowboys dot com. You
can follow on most social media at Tommy underscore Yards.
Tommy Dak Prescott looked completely in control. Uh, the other
night against Philadelphia. Do you see the upside of what
Dak brings every single day to this team and are
they gonna find a way to get George Pickens more involved?

Speaker 9 (48:27):
Absolutely? Absolutely. You know, coming into last week, I think
I had only seen Dak Prescott play three, maybe two
or three games before he got hurt. So I think
Thursday was really eye opening for me as to how
much of a difference it makes for this offense when
Dak Prescott is healthy and in the game. Jerry Jones

(48:50):
said after the game that he was one of it
was one of Dak's better performances in his career that
he can remember. And you know, I haven't been watching
every single Dak Prescott game my entire life, but I
would say that that he was about as good as
he's lope since I've been covering this team. You know,
the numbers may not reflect it. He had the drops
from from Ceedee Lamb that were that were pretty big

(49:12):
that hurt him. But some of the throws that you
saw him make, when you watch the game back on
film and you see just how valuable this guy is
when he's healthy, he looked incredible. And then as far
as George Pickens goes you know, throughout the week that
we've been talking to Dak and hear it from Dak
and Shotty, and it's been you know, I think they're
trying to kicking themselves a little bit for for some
of those plays not going George Pickens's way. I think

(49:35):
he you know, did his job. But at the same time,
you know, you go back to when the Cowboys made
the trade for George Pickens and all everything everybody said
was all this is going to open things up for
Ceedee Lamb and vice versas Ceedee Lam's going to open
things up for George Pickens. That's a part of it.
That's a part of it. There are going to be
games like this where Ceedee Lamb has thirteen targets and
he goes over one hundred yards and George Pickens doesn't

(49:57):
necessarily have as many. But you know, it's going to
work for both of them, and it's going to get
those guys open. It got see Lamb open, and that's
why he had one hundred yards and he had thirteen targets.
So you know, I don't necessarily think it's a bad
thing that George Chakins didn't get targeted as much. It's
not like Dak Prescott's not going to look his way.
He had that big passive appearance penalty that set up

(50:18):
one of the touchdowns in the red zone early. So
he is still making an impact on the game away
from the ball.

Speaker 3 (50:24):
Yeah, he's always going to be able to do that,
and hopefully we'll see a little bit more this weekend
against the New York Giants. As always, Tommy, we appreciate
you taking the time and as I told you before, Man.

Speaker 4 (50:36):
I understand you didn't have to.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
Apologize, but we definitely appreciate you setting the record straight.
We'll look forward to this weekend and we'll talk to
you again next Friday.

Speaker 9 (50:45):
Buddy, all right, fellas, I appreciate you guys have a
good appreciation coming on. Bro.

Speaker 4 (50:50):
Yeah, no doubt there he is.

Speaker 3 (50:52):
Tommy Yarsh of Dallascowboys dot Com.

Speaker 4 (50:55):
No deal for Jadavian clowning.

Speaker 3 (50:57):
We're going to find a way to get the ball too,
my man, Piggins, because you was mad that he didn't
get enough to man.

Speaker 4 (51:07):
We're gonna find out a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (51:08):
We're gonna talk in fl when we come back right
here on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio a thirteen
hundred The Zone.

Speaker 4 (51:16):
Welcome back to the morning kickoff.

Speaker 3 (51:18):
Right here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Great stuff from our guy, Tommy Yarish of Dallascowboys dot
Com as he continues to let us know that the
Cowboys are moving in the right direction, but they did
not get Jadevian Clowney and that is somebody that a
lot of folks are looking at. And you know, he

(51:38):
was right when he said, Jadavion kind of has his
own ideas of what he wants to do, and he
didn't want to start football this weekend, so he gonna
wait a little bit and figure.

Speaker 4 (51:48):
Out what the playoff chances are.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
Because at this stage in your career, you want to
play for a team that actually have a chance to
win a championship. So if I'm a free agent and
I'm in demand, then I'm gonna wait a little bit
as well and see what's next for me and my
opportunities to play for a championship. You look across the

(52:10):
NFL this weekend, there's some big games. We talked about
the Packers defeating the Commanders last night twenty seven to eighteen.
Michael Parson's getting loved Tucker Kraft putting up big numbers,
and of course Jordan Love looking smooth as always.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
But let's go to Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (52:29):
The Steelers will be hosting the Seattle Seahawks. Aaron Rodgers
looked phenomenal last weekend. The Seahawks oh to one. They're
on the road, tough, tough road to hope. But you
know what, the Steelers are a good looking football team.
And I got to put a little bit respect on
what I saw last weekend. Aaron Rodgers still looks a

(52:51):
little old, but he was able to sling that football.
His arm still looks great. He wasn't out there throwing
like Uncle Rico. He was out there looking like Aaron
Rodgers slinging that thing. So I'm looking at Pittsburgh to
handle business there.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
Well, I'll tell you what. We gave Aaron a lot
of hell during the offseason. It's early, it's early, but
he did look really good. Yeah, he looks sharp. He
should look sharp.

Speaker 3 (53:17):
But they play at twelve o'clock, same time that the
Cowboys will be taking on the Giants. Cowboys or five
and a half point favor. As we said, Dak Prescott
looked good. Dak Prescott to your point, Mark, I'm looking
at the numbers. Dak Prescott threw for one hundred and
eighty eight yards last week. Ceedee Lamb had one hundred
and ten of those yards and with four drops, with

(53:38):
four drops, with four drops, So.

Speaker 2 (53:40):
Let's diversified offense and get the ball to her pickings
on the other side too.

Speaker 3 (53:46):
I'm gonna tell you this, I think the first play
of the game is going to be a pass to
Ceedee Lamb, quick throw, just to get him to catch
the football so he can be ready to go, and
so everybody will give him a standing overvation that he
caught the ball and did not have the drops. If
he drops the first pass, we'll see what ends up happening.

(54:07):
The Bengals will host the Jaguars. Both teams come in
one and oh. The Bengals almost gave the game away
last week against the Cleveland Browns, but the Jaguars. We
expected big things from the Jaguars, and they put out
today that they're gonna have Travis Hunter playing more of
the game on both sides of the football. So we'll
get a chance to see Travis Hunter do his thing tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (54:30):
Why draft him if you're not gonna play on both sides.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
He played both times like you said you were gonna
play him like he did in college. I mean, I'm
not saying he needed to play one hundred reps, but
I mean twenty five and twenty five A thirty and
thirty would be optimum, right, And I think that you'll.

Speaker 1 (54:50):
Get benefit from him. I think so too. I think
so too.

Speaker 3 (54:54):
Another big matchup is the.

Speaker 4 (54:57):
Bears and the Lions.

Speaker 3 (54:58):
We got an animal game here, Yeah, Bears versus the Lions.
Both teams got beat last weekend, the Bears in unbelievable fashion.

Speaker 4 (55:08):
The Lions just.

Speaker 3 (55:08):
Got beat by Green Bay and green Bay was much
better team. But this is the game where you're looking
across the field at your ex girlfriend and wondering if
things are gonna work out. Jared Goff is gonna have
Google eyes for Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson gonna have Google eyes.
I should have never left you. I should have never left.
It has to be because Caleb Williams is going to

(55:30):
give that dude an anneurism because he does not do
the things that he is supposed to do. Because he
looked great in the first half, and then all of
a sudden, he looked like Lenows from Bull Durham where
he was throwing the ball all over the place and
not being able to connect. He was hitting the mascot Mark,

(55:50):
he was hitting the mascot. So Caleb Williams, can you
please please figure it out?

Speaker 9 (55:56):
Man?

Speaker 3 (55:57):
You got too much talent Heisman Trophy. Things change when
you get to this level. You're not playing against people
that can't catch you.

Speaker 4 (56:05):
These guys are good at the NFL level.

Speaker 2 (56:07):
Man, he's gonna have to learn to be Superman once
or twice a game. Yeah, and the rest of the
time be a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (56:16):
Yeah. Pump your brakes, man, Like, throw.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
The ball quick, get it at your hand, Like if
you step up in the pocket, just step up and
through it.

Speaker 8 (56:23):
Yeah, let's Superman more Batman. Just make the right moves,
like do your job.

Speaker 3 (56:29):
As we keep talking about another game, that is interesting
to me because I believe on one sideline is dead
man walking and on the other side is a coach
that does not put up with no nonsense. And that's
the Patriots taking on the Dolphins. Folks, Dolphins fans, it's time.

(56:51):
It's time to rip the band aid off. It's time
to make changes in Miami because the Dolphins are in
a bad spot, and.

Speaker 4 (57:00):
This is your leader of men trying to have.

Speaker 3 (57:04):
A conversation with the reporters, and this is how it sounds.

Speaker 10 (57:10):
I think I saw, you know, quarterback play that was
less than to be desired, which to absolutely knows, but
that was he's the captain of the franchise quarterback and
everybody kind of felt victim to something similar.

Speaker 4 (57:29):
I also know that he's very very much.

Speaker 10 (57:37):
Like a lot most quarterbacks, to be honest, where you're
putting a lot of work into something and your first
time doing it for a collective four quarters in months,
you're not at your best. My biggest thing is I
don't want to make the same mistakes twice. I don't
want to have things happen for no reason or in vain.

(58:01):
You make him purposeful by by improving upon the things
that you fail at and then making making sure that
your teammates do the same. So he's comfortable with that,
comfortable with that in terms of, you know, we we
need to be better collectively, he and everybody else needs

(58:22):
to be better, Uh for us to get done what
we want to get done.

Speaker 4 (58:26):
What the hell is in that bait pen? He needs
to stop? He does.

Speaker 1 (58:33):
That's the problem that that guy's he's lost.

Speaker 4 (58:43):
He's lost.

Speaker 1 (58:45):
I take that clip straight to the general manager and
to the owner of the team and say I'm done,
trade me, I'm done, I'm out of here.

Speaker 3 (58:58):
Well is he trying to say he was not? He
was trying to form a thought. How can you stand on.

Speaker 1 (59:05):
The sideline and and and be able to be a
great offensive coordinator and be able to understand what moves
you need to make if you're vaped.

Speaker 4 (59:15):
He's a vape guy, But him, what is he vaping?

Speaker 1 (59:19):
Is it tobacco or is it some that that some tweeds,
them waggy weeds.

Speaker 4 (59:26):
I know some people. I'm not sure that's vape. Yeah,
that's what he's talking about. That's what he that's I
know where.

Speaker 2 (59:31):
He's gotta stop it, man, He's gotta stop it. He's
not in his right mind.

Speaker 1 (59:37):
He babbled for two minutes and never said anything other
than we gotta be better.

Speaker 4 (59:45):
Yeah, just get to that point, just say we gotta.

Speaker 2 (59:47):
Be Just say you know what, guys, we gotta get
we gotta be better.

Speaker 3 (59:51):
And again, I mean I remember when we were hard
knocking it and he was funny, he was charismatic, but
that was in the beginning stages. Just like everything else.
If you're there for a while, you're gonna age. And
he is not aged well because his team is not
getting better. Go back and listen to him. We should
get a clip of him two years ago. Yeah, and

(01:00:14):
listen to how he talks, the flow, the way that he.

Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Relays the message. Yes, and then play that again. It's
not the same person.

Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
It's not.

Speaker 5 (01:00:25):
And who's concussed him a tool?

Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
The thing about it is when you look at both
of these teams, I mean you look at this.

Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
Team a chemically can cut and.

Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
Say a bag of misfits toys, right, I mean look
at Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
He's part of the problem.

Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Jalen Ramsey left said I'm out.

Speaker 4 (01:00:44):
Can't do it, can't win with.

Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
Him, decided he wanted to go do something different. Coming
up next, we got the world's strongest man and he's
bringing you the world's strongest take right here on the
morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred is all.
Normally this would be w W E. Hall of Famer
d Mark Henry bringing you his world's strongest take.

Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
Take it away, big fella hard, Yes, you know what
time it is? What Thomas, It's time.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
To segue to my guy, Sedric Golden Margus.

Speaker 4 (01:01:23):
Back then they didn't know me. Now I'm hot. They
y'all on me.

Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
Man, We was gonna talk. We was gonna talk about
some Mark Henry stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
But any chance that we get to have Cedric Golden Golden,
the pride of Austin.

Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
We gotta have that. We gotta take that chance. What's
going on, man, Man? Not much.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
I didn't know it was getting getting replacing the world's strongest.
Take that's the best thing going I I'd rather listen
to the world stro Oh you gotta make it good.

Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
Yeah, well, you're never bellyaching, dog, you never belliaching.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
You keep it one hundred go ahead.

Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
But Mark, you met the great Muda Man. I saw
that on Facebook. I loved that was one of my
favorite wrestlers.

Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
I love Muda.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Did you see I turned into a little kid man, eight.

Speaker 4 (01:02:16):
Year old boy.

Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
I could not believe it, and I had seen him before, but.

Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
It just overwhelmed me. I could not believe that. Wow athletic,
Oh my god, he was so athletic. I love watching
do those.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
Flips and then he do the elbow into the turnbuckle.

Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
Behind that guy. That guy, that guy was original. Man.

Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
I love watching him.

Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
I'm telling you, man, like we Hard and I were
debating on whether or not we would talk wrestling too
much the WWE, I signed a nostalgia deal. So my
video game Likeness is going to be got released yesterday day.
So now I'm you know, people can go buy the

(01:03:03):
download and you know, play Mark Henry on the on
the two K wrestling game. But man, we we love wrestling,
but man, we love football. Right now it's football season
and harg and I.

Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
We we we we know.

Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
You we have the pulse of what's going on on
the University of Texas campus. What what's the thing that
stands out to you the most right now with this
University of Texas football team.

Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
I'm gonna tell you the first thing that comes to
my mind is, uh, there's still there's still a little
shock that ourston play as well in at Ohio State.
But they're getting their sea legs back, man, and they
they're you know, I told like we all talked that,
I've told hars Is, we knew that, we knew they're
gonna blow out San Jose. They're going to blow out
UTAP and they're gonna blow out Sam Houston. But we

(01:03:57):
gotta figure out in the midst of that, you know,
because arch did put up five touchdowns last week. In
the midst of that, is he getting better and will
he be ready for Gainesville on October fourth? I believe
and I think he will be. I think he was
really peeled that he didn't play well in Columbus, and

(01:04:18):
I think that's kind of driving him right now.

Speaker 4 (01:04:20):
That defense is electric. The defense is going to be fine.

Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
Colin Simmons is gonna get his groove back, and as
long this is just kind of like last year.

Speaker 4 (01:04:29):
The defense is kind of driving this bus.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
But they need that quarterback, the most important position in
all of sports. They need Arch Manning to play like
the Arch Manning we thought he'd be, and he he
was last week, he will be tomorrow and he will
be against Sam.

Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
But we need him.

Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
We need him to play like the star that he
is at money Time against quality competition.

Speaker 3 (01:04:52):
We're talking to Cedric Golden of the Austin American Statesman.
You can follow him at said Golden, and said, you
and I talk about this a lot when we're at
the media. Availabilities. The tone of the team continues to
be in the in the voice of coach Sark. From
the players, they all kind of vibe to the same thing,

(01:05:13):
but the leadership group continues to get better. What is
it about this team that continues to impress you when
you look at the leadership per se.

Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
Man, I love that question, Michael.

Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
I'm gonna tell you, I think that one of the
best things to happen to this team was Michael Taff
coming back.

Speaker 4 (01:05:33):
They need that. They needed that because.

Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
You think about it, if Taff, if Mookie's not back,
who's really taken over that mantle? The offensive line mostly new,
Trevor Gooseby's a sophomore. You got those are new guys
up from for the most part, Quinn Travian Weisner is
a leader, Anthony Hill is a leader. But they had

(01:05:58):
leaders falling out of a sky last year. They they've
only got three or four core guys. I believe that
that are real leaders. Even though this season has just
started and you look at last year.

Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
We don't talk about Baron Sarrel.

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
Baronceurel was the pulse of that locker room and Michael Taff,
those guys were Those guys were locked in as the leaders.
Quinn Queen Yours to me, was not a leader on
that team. He was a quarterback, but he was not
a leader. I think arch Manning is a leader. I
think arch Manning like likes, likes to be the face
of this team, and I think he wants to have

(01:06:33):
that pressure and he wants to have that responsibility of
being a pulse of this team.

Speaker 4 (01:06:39):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
Sarkesian preaches leadership and accountability and transparency. There's gonna be
some others that develop as this season goes on, but
they don't have as many as last year.

Speaker 4 (01:06:53):
I like. I like this team. I like the.

Speaker 1 (01:06:56):
Defense especially, and as long as you have a defense
like they have, this' not giving up points hardly at all.
Of that travels and they're gonna be doing some traveling
in October.

Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
So we watched the Commanders last night play the Green
Bay Packers, and at one point in the first half
they went through a motion offense where it was almost
like an option. Texas has the talent to do something
like that. I'd love to see Texas run the ball

(01:07:31):
four or five times in a row and to try
to push it down people's throat. Do you think that
they can sustain a running game like that with the
quarterback pulling it and running.

Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
To Yeah, but they're not gonna do it against Sam
Houston or Utup. It's in the bag. It's gonna happen.
That's something that you save for the games that matter.
You see it in Florida, you see it in Kentucky,
you'll city in Stagg's against Georgia.

Speaker 4 (01:07:58):
It is Vanderbilt.

Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
Uh, there are things that are working on right now
that that's that are gonna happen eventually. They don't want
to put it on film right now. They don't want.

Speaker 4 (01:08:09):
To tip people off.

Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
And another thing that they have, you know, quit Travian Weisner.
I believe probably could play if he want, you know,
if they really really needed him. They're holding some guys
out because they know they're gonna blow these teams out.
DeAndre Morre is probably not gonna play. I know, Wiseman
is not gonna play, Alex January is not gonna play.

Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
EMM and Nelson's not gonna play.

Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
But those guys are gonna be integral parts of what's
gonna be happening in sec play.

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
It's it's it's a weird schedule with with gree real Uh,
you know, really beatable, thirty forty point underdogs coming in here. Uh,
you know, and then they're gonna get that very crucial
we haven't talked about that much. They get that bye
week after Sam Houston and and everybody's gonna be ready
to go by then, because if guys are still hurt

(01:09:00):
after that bye week and they haven't played for a month,
then you get worried.

Speaker 4 (01:09:03):
But I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
I don't think that it's to the point where people
are are are really that hurt, So they're gonna be
really you know, hopefully, you know, because you're still football.
Guys can get hurt in these next two games, but
hopefully they'll be they'll be ready to run.

Speaker 4 (01:09:18):
Everybody will be healthy.

Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
I think that option, that run option, that r PO
game is in arch manage bag.

Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
I think you're gonna see it. You're just not gonna
see in these next couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
You said, Mosley, right, yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, receiver.

Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Yeah, we're gonna let you go with this.

Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
You wrote an article about white chocolate as he stepped
up as the top target. Parker Livingston, what is it
about him that has been been impressed impressive about the
way He's handled everything in the early stages.

Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
You know, receiving, receiving, receiving is simple, run good routes,
catch the football, do something that you catch it. He does
all three very well. The dude is fast, He's an
enormous target at six three with long arms, and most important,
he has the confidence of his quarterback. We need more
from Wingo and DeAndre morri fam We gotta see more

(01:10:16):
from them because they're gonna take away white chocolate.

Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
If those other two keep struggling. They're tight end.

Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
Jack Andrews is doing really well as well. I really
like the chemistry that they've developed so far. But they're
gonna need Wingo and more to do much more. If
those guys can come aboard, and I think it's gonna happen,
that's gonna make up even more dangerous. This all paper,
This is as this is as explosive as an offense

(01:10:44):
potentially as there is in America.

Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
They just haven't played like it just yet.

Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
Well, they're gonna be ready to go and we'll be
able to see them tomorrow. Three point fifteen is the
kickoff as they take on you TEP. We expect big
things tomorrow, and as always, you delivery of her big things.
My man said, fellas one thing I gotta ask for.

Speaker 4 (01:11:04):
I get out of here.

Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
Who y'all got winning and fight tomorrow night quick burning
the league.

Speaker 3 (01:11:09):
Well, hey, that's funny that you bring that up, because
that's coming up in the next segment.

Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
My brother say, you got to stay tuned.

Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
Stay tuned. I will stay tuned. I'm in there, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:11:20):
I appreciate it. There he is, said Golden.

Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
You can follow him at said Golden on social media.
And like he said, when we come back, we're gonna
talk about this big fight before we send you to
Dan Patrick right here on morning you called on sports
Radio Am thirteen hundred The Zone. If you missed any
part of the show, get over to our podcast page
and check out all of the latest from our interview

(01:11:45):
with Mac Brown yesterday, and of course our weekly guest
Tuesdays with Joe Cook, Wednesdays with Danny Davis, Thursdays with
Eric Henry. Fridays we had today Tommy Yarish and Cedric
Golden of the Austin American States and great interviews and
so much more. Make sure you tune in to The
Craig Way Show this afternoon from two to five, Craig Way,

(01:12:08):
Cam Parker, and our guy Jake has been doing an
unbelievable job stepping in as the producer. I want to
get into this conversation right now because it was just
brought up. There's a huge fight this weekend. We'll finish
off with Texas football in just a moment, but there's
a huge fight this weekend. Terrence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez,

(01:12:28):
two of the premier boxers in the game. And you know, Mark,
a lot of people don't talk a lot of boxing anymore.
I mean, there's only a few people that are really
dialed in. Our guy said is one of those people
who was just going with us. But you start to
think about boxing and what it looks like, and this

(01:12:49):
fight should be getting more attention than what it has been.

Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
It should, but like if you go there's like twelve
federations and they they historically over the last year or
two have been making decisions that everybody booze and people
are not wanting to spend their money on that.

Speaker 4 (01:13:12):
So it's like fix it.

Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
Eliminate all the companies, make it one or two or
three like it used to be, and then you have
a pool of boxers that are all fighting each other.
These people dodge each other. Now they won't even fight,
won't even have it. We're lucky to get a fight
like this.

Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Well we are lucky, and that's why I think it's
such a huge, huge fight. We were talking about it earlier.
Is this the fight of the decade? Is this one
of the biggest fights that we have seen? And yes,
this is a real fight. This is this is one
of the biggest fights in the last five years. And
I am a huge We were talking about Aero Spence
and how that fight was supposed to go, but the

(01:13:52):
result was not what it was what it ended up being.
It wasn't one of those best activator. Yeah, but you
look at both of these guys. They're both electric. They're
both a scientist when it comes to this. And to me,
I know, Canelo Alvarez is a big punch guy. I
believe this is the first time he did not fight

(01:14:12):
on Sinco de Mayo. I think this is the first
time that he's fighting on the time that he's not
used to fighting on. But Bud Crawford, Terrence Crawford is
so good at what he does. He's a text he's
so technical, with his approach and everything, and I just
firmly believe that this fight is going to be Terrence

(01:14:35):
Crawford's fight.

Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
I think it's going to be Crawford's fight. But both
of these guys got big punching power.

Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
Oh, they're powerful, guy like this is this could be
a ninety second fight or it could be a one
that goes a distance because they're both really good in defense.

Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
So forty one in oh career record with thirty one
knockouts is Crawford.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
I'm I'm, I'm I'm excited for I mean, Canelo can
end that though in a heartbeat?

Speaker 4 (01:15:07):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
Well, this is the other part. He's moving up to
one sixty eight. He's fighting at one sixty eight Crawford
that is, and he's he's a light guy, so this
is gonna be an interesting fight. But this is the
beautiful part about the dynamic of them because it's the
undisputed super middleway and both of these guys, I mean,

(01:15:29):
Crawford went up two way classes to fight this fight.

Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
Wow, I hope he's acclimated because bigger, bigger, bigger punching power,
bigger guys, they hit harder. Yeah, And regardless of how
much offense Crawford has Canelo.

Speaker 4 (01:15:50):
He's gonna work on the body for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Every fight that he has he starts off trying to
hit you in them kidneys. So he hopefully he's gott
he built up some up more than those legs he.

Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
Been put around that core. Well.

Speaker 5 (01:16:04):
I think a key to this fight is also defensively.
I think Crawford is one of the more agile defenders. Yeah,
and also the fact he has like a three and
a half inch reach advantage in this fight, I think
he's going to use that. He's not gonna just get
in there and try to brawl off with a guy
like Canela, who's going to be the bigger fighter, because
when he rehydrate, he's gonna be at least one seventy.

Speaker 4 (01:16:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
So I'm looking at this and this is one that
I am making sure that I get to watch. You
know what I'm saying you A lot of times you're
not okay, Like even with UFC. There's UFC card this
weekend as well, So there's so much that is happening
around fighting that but Saturdays are for football. I'm watching football.

(01:16:51):
That's my plan. I'm gonna be locked into the football
games this weekend. But at nine o'clock, eight o'clock, I'm
gonna start watching Canelo Crawford beginning, I know, but that's
what undercour Yeah. I gotta watch some of that too,
because it gets you ready to go. But for me,
I got I'm taking Crawford.

Speaker 4 (01:17:12):
Who you taking?

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
I'm gonna go Crawford going Crawford decision. Oh man, dang,
I mean easy, finna get knocked out? Yeah, all three
of husband. He's finish go night night, hope not. But
I'm rolling with Crawford. I know that we all are.
