to nine am Monday through Friday right here on sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. This is the Thirsty
Thursday edition of The Morning Kickoff right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. College football is back

(00:37):
for a big weekend. Players from Texas Speak without a pocket.
Eric Henry of Horns twenty four to seven joins us
at seven forty. Shout out to Texas Women's soccer as
they advance to the next round of the SEC Tournament
Tonight versus Arkansas at six pm on the SEC Network.

(00:59):
Let's go the Spurs get handled by the Rockets, Dak
deserves an apology, and of course we've got the world's
strongest take. I am your host, Mike Harball Hart and
my co host is the WWE Hall of famer and
the man that always brings you the world's strongest take
my man, Mark Henry.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
That's right, what's going on, y'all? Wake up?

Speaker 1 (01:21):
And of course we've got our guy Khalil behind the boards.
And if you want to be a part of the show,
all you got to do is text the word Texas
followed by your message to eight one five three zero.
Standard data and message rates may apply. That's the word
Texas followed by your message to eight one five three zero. Fellas,

(01:42):
We've got Thursday Night football and it is a doozy
of a matchup.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
It's a doozy of a matchup.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
And the thing about this matchup tonight, for those that
are wondering Thursday Night Football, is the Baltimore Ravens with
that two headed monster Lamar Jackson and of course Derrick Henry.
Who both of these guys can possibly win the MVP? Yeah, exactly,
followed by against the guess who Cincinnati Bengals with Joe

(02:15):
Burrow and Jamar Chase. Now, on paper and the sound
of it, we're thinking we're getting the battle of two
teams that have been bringing it the entire year, but
in reality, this is a must win game. For one
Cincinnati Bengals. The kickoff at seven fifteen. It'll be on

(02:37):
Prime and of course you can check it out all
over social media. My question for you, bro, my question
for you if you had to look at this game
and you had to mortgage a house on it, because
you know a lot of people be out there doing.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
Yeah, that is not your coun your cousin, that is
not your boy.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
But if you were trying to throw a little pizza
money on this thing, what would be your biggest matchup in.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
This Cincinnati defense trying to stop Derrick Henry that would be.
And then if you do, then Lamar Jacksons gonna rush
for one hundred yards and two touchdowns and he's gonna
throw one at least and he may throw two.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
So here's the here's the difference to for me, T
Higgins doubtful.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
He's out doubtful every week. Listen.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
He is gonna be doubtful for the rest of the
season because punishment.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
You had every opportunity to sign me.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
I'm gonna keep I'm gonna give you five minutes and
then I'm gonna go sit down.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
I'm gonna my qual is hurt. Oh Man, So he's
got he's doubtful. Right now.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
You got Orlando Brown blind side for Cincinnati, he's questionable.
And you got defensive tackle bj hill On this is
for Cincinnati, he's questionable. Then you look over on the
other side, your guy Isaiah likely will likely be out tonight,

(04:22):
non participant. He is out of the ball game tonight.
So you might check your fantasy lineup, folks. Check your
fantasy lineup, folks. You look at both of these teams
and they're headed in different directions. Joe Burrow believes that
they can win the rest of their games.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
They said. He said it's doable for them to get.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
To ten wins, because that's gonna be the only way
that they get into the playoffs. Baltimore six and three,
three and one at home, Cincinnati three and one on
the road.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
But Baltimore is a six point favorite.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
I don't really feel like that too likely.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Is gonna be highly likely chance that they will not
be throwing to the tight end.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
They got a.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
New receiver in Deontay Johnson this moment, they're gonna try
to get him the ball. Flowers has really been playing
above himself, and Weightman has been doing really so like
that's stretching the secondary. So now you have a secondary
Derrick Henry is not touching guys until he gets to

(05:32):
the second level of the field, and those guys gotta
come back after running a forty to come back and
try to tackle this big monster. So it's a damned
if you do, damned if you don't. If you don't
score score for score with Baltimore, you're gonna lose. That's

(05:55):
just the way it is. And Patrick Mahomes is Patrick Mahomes.
He was able to manufacture. Even though the game was
sloppy and both teams didn't play well, Patrick Mahomes was
able to once again put that team on his back
and get a win.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I don't think he can do it again.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Well, here's my thing right here.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
If you look at by the way they just picked
up Tradevius White, the Ravens did to help with their secondary,
A big time player, a guy that was highly south
after when he was with the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
He was the top corner in the league at that time.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
And now you're getting a chance to breathe with teamed
up with Marlon Humphrey on one side, you got Tradevius
White on the other side. The Ravens beat the Cincinnati
forty one to thirty eight last month in overtime. So
it is it is both of these teams like to
put it through the air. Lamar Jackson three hundred and

(06:56):
forty eight yards through the air and four touchdowns in
that matchup. Remember last week, Joe Burrow had five touchdowns
five touchdowns passing last week and.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Jackson had fo.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying, So there's going to be points.
The only problem that I have with this, the only
problem that I have with this is last week Lamar
Jackson had a perfect quarterback rating passer rating excuse me,
of one point fifty eight point three. I don't know
how that's the numbers. I don't know how it's you know,
I don't even know.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
How that coming. Yeah, so I sit and look at it.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
But I'm I'm thinking it's hard to repeat that, which
is why I believe you can never go wrong with
giving the ball to Derrick Henry.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
But Chase Brown.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Chase Brown has become this little secret weapon for those
that don't know he's the running back. And that's why
Joe Mixon was expendable to go to the Houston Texans
but Chase Brown has been putting up huge numbers in
that running game because of the fact that Joe Burrow
has been throwing the ball so well.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
So I'm looking at this game.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
It's hard to call it a shootout because most Thursday
Night games are the unders. You take the unders in
most Thursday Night game, which means this week, take the
over because I'm talking about the hunderds on this one.
Very rare that I even get.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
So you're saying, don't listen to you.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah, because I just looked at my friend's account and
it's a little bit lower than what was expected on
the return on the investment. How do you have access
to your friends account? Because it's like both ours we

(08:47):
try to share. It's like both ours. Hey, we're just
getting started here.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
But I'm gonna keep it that behind.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
It's like both ours. We're just getting started here.

off of one Pint eighty three in between Anderson Mill
and Lake Creek. I will be there from six to
eight tonight with bud Light and of course folks from
the Zone. I'll post on my social media as well.
I want to get into this conversation because jah Day

(18:22):
Baron has now been named to the watch list, well
not the watch list, the semifinalist list of the Thorpe Award.
And one of the biggest stories about that is the
fact that he did decide to come back. You start
looking at his career and what he's been able to do,
and you're like, Wow, this dude is really really talented.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
He went through all of.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
The checkpoints to find out if he should go to
the league or if he should come back, and coach
Sark was asked about the impact of Joday coming back
for one more year and now how well he's been playing.

Speaker 23 (19:03):
I think from a team perspective, him deciding to come
back as an easy one, right.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
I think we're better with John A.

Speaker 23 (19:09):
Baron on our team, you know, and he's as versatile
as he's been for us, and how he can contribute
not only on defense, but what he's doing on special
teams for us right now has been huge.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
You know that his ability to play multiple positions.

Speaker 23 (19:23):
His decision to come back was was one that I
wish all of our guys would go through the same
process he went through. And part of that process is
getting the grades from the NFL. And it's not just
the grades that you know, PFF for one of these
websites puts out, but it's actually written reports that we
get from NFL teams. And then in that report, they'll say, hey,

(19:46):
this is your grade, this is what you do well,
and here's where you can improve that grade. And if
the things are tangible in there to improve that grade, man,
it sure is worth your while. Because I think so
many times guys are thinking I just got to get
to the league so I can get to a can contract.
But all the while that there's still money there that
that can be made that you never get to make

(20:06):
up again.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Right, So wherever you get drafted in that.

Speaker 23 (20:09):
First deal, that is your money for that first four years,
and so you never get a chance to go make
that back. And I think Johaday has made himself a
ton of money this year by coming back. You know,
I think he's continually matured off the field as well
as what his leadership has been.

Speaker 12 (20:24):
On the field.

Speaker 23 (20:25):
He's shown the versatility that he can play multiple positions,
and so I think it's been a win win for
all parties involved. And like I said, for us as
a team, we're really fortunate that he decided to come back.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Harge.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
When your coach says you made a ton of money
coming back, you know what, the.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
That gives credence to what he says about other players
that next year they might think I'm ready, and then
he can say, listen, all I got to do is
say go talk to Jody.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Sometimes you need You're not refined, You're good, yep, but
you need polishing. And that is what ja Day did.
He gave himself. I mean, we watched football all year
in the NFL and we see, you know, long Horns
in Pittsburgh and long Horns in the Rams, and we see,

(21:22):
you know, all of the guys that we look at
and go man, Jordan Hicks still playing like all of
Jaday is going to be drafted in the first three days,
like he won't see.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
The fourth round.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
We had Jim Naggy on the show at the SEC
media Days and he talked about Jaday in particular, and
he was like, Jaday was a guy that came and
did everything and just at the end of it decided
I want to go back to school. And he said,
I was shocked. I'm glad he did it because now
he's another guy. He's a guy we're going to continue
to talk about him. But the fact that he went

(21:59):
through the process to find out what the NFL thought
of him.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
He had great senior ball.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
I mean, he was playing and doing all the workouts
and doing everything.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
He needed to do.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
But he went through the process, got his grade and decided,
you know what, it's probably best for me to come back.
And so it was really really impressive to hear that.
And to your point, Mark. Now he's opened up a
whole different conversation for guys that may think that they're
ready and not sure if they need to do it.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
So let's go talk to do.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Exactly Moondo and I'm man, Sarka is just he's just
bad in a thousand right now with me. You know,
I wish he bad man he going yard, But the
only thing, like I want him to take that first
pitch though, I want him to be able to tell Quinn, hey,

(22:53):
go and have fun. Remember this is a game, and
don't put so much pressure on yourself, like you tell me,
like what's comfortable for you and when you when you
relax and you let the quarterback be himself and let
him have some ownership in it, I think Quinn will
be less tight and he'll go out there and play

(23:15):
like he did big game Quinn. We haven't been able
to call him big game Quinn.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
What's seventeen of seventeen last week?

Speaker 12 (23:22):
Man?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
You know what that was? That was good, but that
wasn't big game Quinn. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
We talked to Danny Davis yesterday where.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
He's running up and down the field slapping helmets. I
don't want to see him throw a pass complete a
pass and walk off the field, or you know, like
feel like he's not happy with himself. That's the way
his body language looks. I think he's gonna be all right,
but spraying up.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
We'll see.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
They take on Florida this Saturday, eleven am kickoff. You
can hear us on the pregame show starting at eight
am from hook Him Hangout, get down there early, come
and have good time with us, as we always do.
But one of the players that won't be in the
game in the first half is Vernon Broughton. So, Vernon
Broughton had the hit against uh, what's that quarterbacks name,

(24:13):
Diego Davla or whatever his name was, the quarterback probably yeah,
something like that, talking about yeah, something like that, the
quarterback for Vanderbilt on an interception by Kobe Black that
Kobe Black took to the house and it ended up
being returned, so he got ejected for targeting. So coach
Stark was asked, well, how do you practice how do
you prepare for this with him not being able? Is

(24:35):
it a regular practice or do you move it around?

Speaker 23 (24:38):
I think about that all the time. I know that,
and you're like, why would you think about it? Because
it stills on your mind. You're like, Okay, how do
you do it? But yeah, Vernon's practicing is normal, you know.
I think it's a great opportunity. Jermaine Lelay has really
come on here in the last month of the season,
and so we've been impressed with him. Bill Norton has
stepped up out here. You step up, Tia Savella. We're

(24:59):
gonna need more out of him. And like I said,
the last two weeks, I think Sadir has had his
best two weeks since he's been here. So we're gonna
need these guys. They're all gonna have to step up
that way and so again, and Florida is a really
good running football team. That's what they believe in. And
so we got to be able to stop the run
in this game. We're gonna need all those guys to
step up.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Did you hear that name de Big three hundred and
fifty pounds de Tackle.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
They trought up Sandier's day.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Come on, young fellaw.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Yeah, yeah, man, that his best week work.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Hey man, he's a mountain.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Yes, he is a mountain.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Sadir Mitchell from New Jersey, big boy to your point
three fifty three fifty is what he's I want to.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Go eat with him. I want to go watch and
eat what.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
I'm sorry, I don't what's wrong with that man?

Speaker 4 (25:54):
You know he could put it down. Okay, I'm just
gonna catch a mic.

Speaker 24 (25:58):
Corun't drat my mind off.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
I just wanted to cut off now, Martin, can you
imagine like you go and do an when we went
and watched Jacob He's forty wings?

Speaker 4 (26:12):
How many wings you think he could eat? He is
on a restricted diet. He is the one that they
was trying to get his weight down. Man, they got
him down the three fifty mark. Gonna take him to
a buff fan. Say go, woman, what your guy?

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Play some of the old fat boy's music.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
I know you're not slowing down at ten plates.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
Oh you eat? Come on man, I want to see it. Man,
you go over here.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
The dude is trying to get on the field. We
just heard that he has been working his behind off
to get on the football.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
I want to go celeb.

Speaker 25 (26:52):
On.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
Man is trying to get him kick back the line
over here. Well, I'm glad to hear it.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
I'm glad that's a great name to hear because you
want to see the young people that come in, get
highly you know, regarded that that came in highly regarded,
get to see the field like, you know, and.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
He's we saw him a little bit in Michigan, but.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
Not that much.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Yeah, I want to see I want to see him
in an extended period.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Yeah, he is.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
He's working his way to being that guy. One of
the other thing was they were on.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
They were on another show out of Pocket yesterday and
I got a chance to see it. And obviously everybody's
talking about the SEC, the move to the SEC, and
Michael Taff was asked about, Hey man, y'all are in
the SEC.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
What have you thought about it so far?

Speaker 26 (27:44):
Yeah, I would say I think the SEC you can't
take an opponent lightly. The Big Twoe is awesome. You know,
we played some really good competition with SEC. Is just physical,
it's big, it's fast, and everything that you're.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
Doing you can't take it lightly.

Speaker 26 (28:01):
Every single competition is going to be played like an
SEC championship and that's how we take it. And it's
it's been a brutal season of physicality and competition, but
we're ready for it.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
We're ready for this next.

Speaker 26 (28:13):
Four game stretch and we're just focused on Florida right
now and taking advantage of our opportunity this weekend.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
And he also touched on the fact of your guy
god you've been talking about all season long, Colin Simmons,
who is now on the Freshman All American list and
he's up for a bunch of awards.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
He spoke on Colin Simmons and what he brings to
the table.

Speaker 26 (28:36):
Stun I've never seen a freshman like that that is
just a natural leader. You know, freshmen usually, you know,
state to themselves, you know, work really hard and just
kind of stay to themselves. But he's he's going up
to people that are older than him and saying, Hey,
finish the ball, Hey go punch the ball out right there,
Hey get mental reps right here.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
And so I've never seen it something like that.

Speaker 8 (28:58):
I have a lot of respect for.

Speaker 26 (29:00):
And he's going to be a special, special player in
his career and he's already showing.

Speaker 22 (29:04):
It right now.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
And that's the Sean Alexander Freshman of the Year award
and he is a semi finalist for that award already.
He's the guy that shows up on film every single day.
And You've talked about a numerous times about what you
think of him, and he's his potential in the future.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Von Miller is.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
The only person that I've seen in this modern time
to have that hip being that he does where and
he could do it from both sides. Yeah, usually a
guy you know, he's a defensive being on the right.
You know, he got that left show to dip up.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Man.

Speaker 27 (29:41):
This dude.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
They line him up all over the field and everywhere
he can get to the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
And that's all they want him to do. Go get
the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
The other team's quarterback must go down, and he must
go down hard, and that's exactly what they're doing right now.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
One other thing that was kind of fun is the
dance moves.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
These guys now are talking about the quarterback dancing and
that trend that's going on, And so they were asked
about the dance moves with the quarterbacks.

Speaker 28 (30:12):
Who's got better moves? Arch or Quinn when it comes
to celebrations, because we've seen both the moment, I'm getting.

Speaker 14 (30:20):
The best on the team or is there somebody else
who's even better?

Speaker 4 (30:24):
There's somebody in the locker room on TikTok, I know it.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
You always got that one guy.

Speaker 26 (30:29):
Yeah, there's there's definitely some guys that can hit the moves,
but Arch and Quinn they doesn't make you laugh on Saturdays.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
And then they were asking about Arch again and what
his dancing is like.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Being behind Quinn. You know, Quinn, he's that guy. And
then coach Milly just the staff.

Speaker 24 (30:51):
That we have here, and and then not only them
helping him off the field, but they're Alwaso helping him
on the field.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
So they all are getting it in and everybody's hell
wants to ask about Arch, but it's like, no, no, no, no,
don't worry about Arch. You need to worry about Quinn.
Quinn is the quarterback one. He will be the starter.
He will we will go as he goes.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
I want to see that SpongeBob dance again.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
That's that's how to do Anthony, No, do you deli?

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Do you know how to do it? I'm not sure?

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Really great dancing?

Speaker 29 (31:22):
What?

Speaker 20 (31:23):
Yeah, we said, we're gonna put him, hey, big modus bad, We're.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
Gonna put him on the We're gonna put him on
the camera in a minute.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
When we come back.

Speaker 4 (31:32):

and that means we're gonna have a conversation with Eric
Henry of Horns seven as he always breaks it down.
You can go and follow him at Eric c Henry
Underscore and find out the latest that he's talking about.
And one of the stories that he has posted up

(40:42):
today in his four down segment is one that we
were just talking about. It's about ja Day bearing and
how important ja Day has become for this Texas football team.
We all got a chance to well, you and I
got a chance to hear from coach Sark on Monday.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
Mark heard it as well.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
Coach start talking about Jaday Baron and how important he
is to this program.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
First and pros good morning as always. Tell us.

Speaker 29 (41:12):
You know, the thing with Jaday Baron that really impresses me,
and you know we've talked about it hard for the
better part of the last year and a half.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Is how versatile Joday is.

Speaker 29 (41:23):
Right, you know, the fact that you can play him
at slot, you can play him at corner, you can
play Hi at safety. Well, the thing that you have
to appreciate about him is he the kidding bet on himself, right,
could have gone through the league last year, probably was not,
probably was undervalued as a slot cornerback and decided, hey,
you know, I want to come back and prove to
the NFL scouts. Of course you talk about the SRTs

(41:43):
and referencing it on Monday that his grave maybe wasn't
what should have been reflective of his play. Who's in
the NFL scouts that I am an.

Speaker 4 (41:51):
Overall football player.

Speaker 29 (41:52):
He goes makes a decision to play outside corner, pays
it off extremely dividends By ProFootball Focus, He's rated as
Texas's top graded defender. So all in all, everything that
Johnny brings on the field and Lucas his pride, you know,
it's probably being a long horn. You're talking out positioning game.
He Darner was in tears talking about how he Michael
Pass and Andrew and Couber say this awesome. This is

(42:13):
a five to one to two you know before every game.
It's those kinds of players, are kind of leaders that
spearhead your team to have great success not only during
the regular season, but have posted his success as well.
So Johnny Barron was certainly someone that I had to spot.

Speaker 3 (42:26):
Like this week hard, John, I'm going live.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
I got my people out there in the world checking
us out, and I want everybody to know that Johnny
barn We're gonna talk about him for the rest of
the season because this.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Guy keeps on.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
He just he just keeps on standing up, and everybody
else is trying to raise their levels around him. You
see how safety mccooba is. Mccoba smart guy, tells people
what to do. And then we got Ma MOOKI Mookie
will come up and knock your face mask in. But
Johay is a guy that stands on an island. He

(43:05):
can take a receiver out of a game. So, like,
I'm really enjoying the fact that now he's getting love
and respect from people to talk. We call him talking heads,
you know, you and I we're talking his too. Yeah look, yeah,
look some bigger than other things. But I'm just saying,
but it is so good man. I can't wait to

(43:27):
get Anthony on and hear his take live and direct.
So let me ask you this, Eric, I want to
know the deal.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
So you know, there's a lot that goes into preparing
for different teams, and obviously Texas has talked a lot
about the offense cause Starts seemed like he was a
little feisty when it came.

Speaker 4 (43:48):
To him and the offense.

Speaker 1 (43:50):
But everybody's been wanting to know how they're gonna find
this rhythm.

Speaker 4 (43:53):
What are your thoughts on that? And do you think
this is the week for it to get going?

Speaker 3 (43:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 29 (43:58):
You know, I just published piece about twenty minutes before
I hoped on radio with y'all talking about Texas passing game.
You talk about how they.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Going to find a rhythm.

Speaker 29 (44:06):
Listen, you know, I'm not big fellas on cycle analyzing coaches.
I feel like, you know a lot of times as
Mark talks about the talking heads, right, we try to
read into, you know, what coaches or players going to
say and try to cycle analyze. I'm big on hey,
let me hear we quote, let me hear what you say,
and we'll just oppose that to the data. Right, we
have eight games worth of text football that shows us

(44:29):
if this team is going to have success through the
last four games of the regular season and into the postseason,
we're going to pass the football. That just is what
it is, the short passing game. If you take a
look at Quinn Yours passing charges passing numbers, the ball
traveling fewer than ten yards in the air. Right, So
we're talking about the shallow short passing game or screening game,

(44:49):
which I asked teams are keeping about two weeks ago.
Twin Yours passes in that category at the highest rate
of his career. He's passing over over sixty percent of
his passes are trying and less than nine.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
Yards in the era more.

Speaker 4 (45:02):
They're dependent on that because.

Speaker 29 (45:04):
Quite frankly, they don't have a v Jon Robinson, they
don't have a Rojeon Johnson, they don't have a Johnson
Brooks in the backfield that you can consistently turn around,
hand them the ball and take keep us on schedule
as an offense. That's just a fact now again, And
I did ask these artisans this this Monday. The one
game can still improve, right, you still have minimum four
games left, probably looking at five to six. Maybe they

(45:26):
can still do some things better in terms of blocking
it that will springboard them to a margin of better success.
But there are sixty fourths of the nation in Russia
now only averaging one hundred and fifty eight yards per game.
This is not a team that's gonna wake up tomorrow
and run for two hundred yards and pound it down
here for it just just isn't so. In terms of
keeping the offense on rhythm, it's gonna be Queen Yours
in the short passing game. What will really help is

(45:47):
getting Isaiah Bond back so you can strust the field
a little bit more. But like it or not, this offense,
as far as they're gonna go, it's gonna be with
that quick game with checkdowns. Those players that can keep
Texas offense on schedule, and it's going to be through
the air.

Speaker 3 (46:02):
Early in the season, Eric, you saw.

Speaker 2 (46:06):
Baby Rhino pounding it inside and you saw Trey Wisner
and Jayden Blue hitting.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
It outside the tackle.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
Like, what's what's the difference between those first three games
in the last three games?

Speaker 29 (46:21):
Oh, hey, Mark, I'm glad you asked that question. The difference,
in my mind is just the level of competition they're playing.
If you go check out that article right now, it's
up on Hornston four to seven dot com. Over the
last four games, Texas has had thirty three runs that
have been stuffed for no game or negative yards. You
compare that to the first four games, you only had
ten of the variety that just goes. So you're not
playing Colorado State, you're not playing Louise in a Monroe,

(46:44):
you're not playing DTSA. And again, I'm not saying that
Texas stas world beaters of defenses. You know, they've had
opportunities they rushed for, you know, just over one hundred
and seven yards at Bandy, had some successful in the
one seventy one eighty into Mississippi State. But now you're
going to play at Kentucky defense that is very good
against the run. You're gonna play an A and M defense,
it's very good against the run. But A and M

(47:05):
Arkansas and Florida, all three of those teams against the past,
the rank seventy seventieth excuse me or fear or below
in the nation gets the pass defense.

Speaker 4 (47:15):
So you're going to pass the football.

Speaker 29 (47:16):
But to your question mark, it just was a matter
of who they're playing. Because the numbers show Texas's offensive line.
It's not that it isn't a talented offensive line, but
when you're stuck for no gain or negative yards thirty
three times, it's going to put you behind schedule. Maybe
take some of those opportunities that you said, Baby Rhino
Jared Gibson away.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
And if you're not over at Horse twenty four to seven,
you're missing out because they've got an article up right
now to what Eric was just talking about Texas Football's
offense success. And of course they have the know your
Foe Q and A with someone from Swamp twenty four
to seven to tell you everything you need to know

(47:53):
about Florida. Eric, before we let you go, man, you
got an article up there right now talking about the
Texas Longhorns men's basketball team. You and I have had
plenty of conversations about this basketball team, but one thing
is for sure.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
They've got a special player in Trey Johnson.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
Have no doubt about it.

Speaker 29 (48:13):
Listen, I we It still remains to be seen what
Texas basketball.

Speaker 3 (48:18):
Is going to be this year.

Speaker 29 (48:19):
And you don't want to make too much out of
one game, right one game, Ohiowa State, that's not college basketball.
College basketball, having your home crowd, you know, the atmosphere
and all of those things. What I do know is
that Trey Johnson is going to be worth the price
of that mission every night. Let's that day, all right,
go over here, let's show us and love to medical
Booker as well. You want to think about two players
in the forty acres that are worth the price of

(48:40):
admission each night in terms of basketball. But with Trey
Johnson's twenty nine points, silty smooth. I mean, for the
kid who's eighteen, his first college game, never was fed up,
and you don't want to place the expectations on them,
But at this point we can't deny it. Right, natural
scortability looks like Kevin Durant. It just looks like a
guy who you put the ball and he's gonna get

(49:01):
you thirty. It doesn't matter who he's playing against. I'm
really excited to see what type of numbers he can
put up, especially in non conference play, because I think
Halgen and did Bart he's kateble of averaging twenty five
or more at conference play, which is amazing for eighteen
nineteen rold.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
Kick, you got a little Rashid Wallace in him too.

Speaker 1 (49:19):
Yeah, he's gonna get a technical.

Speaker 3 (49:23):
We know it's coming.

Speaker 4 (49:24):
It's coming. It's coming. As always, Bro.

Speaker 1 (49:26):

we're gonna here from Mike. No, we're not gonna hear

just got the equipment hooked up, and the guy calls
me know my cell phone and the guys that did
you get hooked up? I take the second headset and
I clamp it around the toilet pole with the microphone
pointing straight and I said, see if you can guess
where I.

Basketball season has started and there's a lot of teams
that are trying to find their way. But one of
the teams that is looking for some help is the
San Antonio Spurs. The San Antonio Spurs last night lost
to the Houston Rockets in Htown one twenty seven to one.
Twenty winy fifteen points didn't look the best. His plus

(56:13):
minus was not the greatest as well. But that's not
the story right now. The story is all about Greg
Popovich and Popovich being away from the team. And we
had mentioned it before about how Pop is dealing with
an illness. But I want you to hear this audio
and it doesn't sound very good because Pop's not even

(56:35):
talking right now, Mike.

Speaker 30 (56:37):
I'm told that it was a health issue and it
was a serious health issue that the Spurs dealt with
and Greg Papovich dealt with over the weekend. It was
a situation on Saturday night pregame that Greg Papovich needed
medical attention in San Antonio. It is still uncertain when
he's going to make it back on the floor on

(56:58):
the sidelines for this team.

Speaker 16 (57:00):
There is a great level of concern around.

Speaker 30 (57:02):
The situation for the Spurs for Greg Popovich. In the meantime,
assistant coach Mick Johnson has stepped in as the acting
interim head coach. He's a rising head coach in this Leaguelac.
I'm told he was a finalist for the Washington Wizards
head coaching job a season ago in the offseason that.

Speaker 4 (57:19):
Went to Brian Keith.

Speaker 30 (57:20):
And so this is something that the Spurs are very
well regarded with. They know how important he is, how
valuable he is, and he will be at the Helm
for the foreseeable future.

Speaker 4 (57:30):
Yikes, that's not good. That's that's not good.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Uh, Prayers out for coach Pop. He wanted a more.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
Inspirational coaches in the last twenty years. He's always been
for the players. He was a strong advocate for a
lot of the rights for the players and just a
good disciplinarian and it's so well respected. God bless him
and his family, and you know, I hope he gets

(58:03):
back as soon as possible.

Speaker 3 (58:04):
It just gets out of the woods.

Speaker 4 (58:06):
Yeah, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (58:07):
And obviously Pop has been in San Antonio for a
very very long time. So thoughts and prayers out for
coach Pop. The best team in the NBA right now
is the Cleveland Cavaliers. They're the only undefeated team in
the NBA, got a nine game winning streak and they
won again last night. The other team that was undefeated

(58:29):
going into last night was the OKC Thunder. They ended
up losing. So in the West, Phoenix is seven and one,
OKC is seven and one. In the Golden State, Warriors
defeat the Boston Celtics last night to move to seven
and one as well. Is this is this another year

(58:50):
that Steph Curry is deciding this time to go?

Speaker 3 (58:54):
We shall see.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
Basketball season is just getting started.

Speaker 1 (58:57):
You just talked about one of the the coaches that
is very direct and very upfront with his feelings in
Coach Popovich. At the top of the next hour, we'll
have another one, Mike Tomlin and his time all right,
and his Tomlin Isam's letting us know because they got
a big matchup against the Commanders right here on the
