Deep down Phiel wher He's got wing go. He got
it fifteen ten and the five.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
And down to the three yard line. Manning had to
make that happen on the running He's being flushed out
and then hung one deep for sixty two yards to
Ryan Wingo first and goal Texas at the Mississippi State
six yard line. Manning out of the shotgun as the
snap arch Roll's right look still Wat's fire for the
end zone. It was caught out of bounds by Livingston
(01:04):
he thought he dragged a foot in.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
There's gonna be an officials talking to him.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
About it right now, and know what are they gonna say.
They're still talking about this for the moment. It's an
incomplete pass, so really.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
On the field, a receiver half possession of the ball
with one foot in bounds.
Speaker 6 (01:20):
Touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
It is a touchdown for Parker Livingston on second down
and ten from the Bulldog twenty one.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Manning's a snap, looks the throw, Blet's coming.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
As he throws down field, He's got mostly there, sliding
Cats touchdown. Texas Emmett Moseley pulls it in for his
first Texas long worn touchdown, a twenty one yard catch.
Here's the snap, pressure coming, The kick is away, nibbling
back pedaling a huge kick, hands on his own twenty one,
turns up field, nibble at twenty five, turns up field
(01:50):
to the thirty and it steps out.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Of the tackle. Thirty five forty. Here's nippling to midfield.
Ryan Davilas sidelines say good night to this one. He's
done it again. Ryan Nibblin a seventy nine.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yard pup return cold Well from the shotgun has the
snap Carns fires for.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
The end zone for most League. Did he catch it?
Speaker 6 (02:10):
No, just out of the end zone there, fall through
it up there. It's incomplete.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
We caught it, but you're right.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
This couldn't get a foot down, little too much air.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
After video review, the ruling is touchdown.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Yes, the receiver had firm controlled the ball with one
foot inbounds. He'll be a try for Texas touchdown catch
of ten yards. That's Matthew Coldwell's first touchdown passes a
Longhorn four down and twenty for Mississippi State of the
Texas thirty five yard line in overtime, Blake shaping out
of the shotgun, hals the snap back to throw, being pressured,
(02:47):
scrambles right.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Scrambles left, down, he goes. This ball game is over.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
The Texas Longhorns have come from behind to beat the
Mississippi State Bulldogs in overtime.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Forty five took thirty eight.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Good morning, Austin Ktown, Fluckerville, Hsown Pairland, l Passo.

San Antonio and salsby Texas Well.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Wherever you may be listening. This is a Longhorns victory
Monday edition of the Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 6 (03:23):
You heard the call and the one and only voice
of your.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Texas Longhorns, Craig Way, brought it to you right here
on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Texas beats
Mississippi State with an unreal comeback. Arch Manning shows Gut Guts,
Excuse Me, Niblets shows Speed. Texas is back at DKR.
This weekend, college football Carousel continues to change. The Top
(03:51):
twenty five has some movers, and we also have Tommy
Yarsh of Dallas Cowboys dot Com to break down the miserable,
miserable performance that happened in Denver yesterday.
Speaker 6 (04:04):
But I am your.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Host, Mike Harball Hart, my co host, is a WWE
Hall of Famer and recognized as the world's strongest man.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
He is d Mark Henry. Good Morning Austin, and.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
A special shout out to our guy Marcus behind the
boards because he was the one who put together that
highlight reel and of course he makes it happen every day.
And if you want to be a part of the show,
all you have to do is text the word Texas
follow by your message to eight one five three zero.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
Standard data and message rates may apply.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
That's the word Texas, followed by your message to eight
one five three zero. Standard data and message rates may apply. Also,
if you want to voice your opinion, all you got
to do is get over to that new and improved
and always free iHeartRadio app, tap that red michaerophone at
the top of it feature, and then you can leave
(04:54):
a message mark. Obviously, Saturday started kind of interesting with
the conversation about coach Sark and possibly having his name
ready to go to the NFL. We talked about it
on our pregame show special shout out to the folks
over at Cover three for having us. And then we
(05:14):
get into the game and it was kind of going
slow for the Texas Longhorns. Some of the same things
that were normally happening, the penalties, false starts, and things
like that were going on. But throughout that game, throughout
that game, you saw guys grow up, you saw guys
making plays, and then boom, Texas finds a way to
(05:37):
get it done.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
With the cow bells being quiet.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
That first quarter, I thought Texas looked great, yep, and
then for whatever reason, in the second quarter, it was like, hey,
let's revert back to what we used to do, and
the defense, which is normally like lights out like it
became a thing for Mississippi State to just to be able.
Speaker 6 (05:59):
To score on them. Just moved down the field, running, passing.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Whatever they wanted to do they were able to do
against this defense, which is arguably one of the top
three defenses in college football. But the last two minutes
of the game and in the overtime, they look almost
like an unbeatable team. If they played like that the
(06:24):
entire game, they'd been fifty to nothing.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah, it was interesting and a lot of folks, I'm
sure after that little shovel pass from Blake Shapin, who
played a great game until the very end to Booth
when he had that sixty two yard little flip pass
to him and he takes it to the house, most
of the people were like, that's it, Katie Bardador, that's
(06:48):
the way this game ended. But then boom emit. Mostly
with the twenty one yard touchdown pass. You get Shipley,
who missed a field goal attempt early in the game,
and then you're like, well, oh, then you're looking.
Speaker 6 (07:02):
You're chasing points. How we're gonna get these points?
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Where you get the touchdown, you get Shipley to kick
the field goals. Then of course Ryan Nibblet's big punt return,
and then you get the touchdown.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
From Matthew Calwell.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
So here's Coach Sark right after the ball game on
the field with the interview.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Well, that was the one thing I asked for yesterday
in the team meeting. I said, guys, this is gonna
take sixty minutes. We got to be the tougher football
team mentally and physically, and it's got to be all
Texas fight tonight. And that's what it was. We didn't
play great football tonight, but we surely fought. We played
as a team. It's back to back weeks.
Speaker 6 (07:36):
Our culture, our culture showed up.
Speaker 7 (07:38):
Feels like back to back to back weeks weeks for
Ryan Nibblett coming up with a huge play.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
What did he do for you in that ball might Well, he's.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
A phenomenal player. He's courageous, he's confident, and so's that
whole unit, you know, and they block extremely well for him.
So uh, great by him. Spent a month on the road.
Can't wait to get back to Austin. Get back to
DKR next Saturday.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Man, think about that, a month on the road.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
The entire month of October, Texas has been on the road.
They go three and one, three and one on the
road trip for that month, sitting at six and two,
three and one in conference play.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
And I know that those guys are war.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Out back to back weeks of overtime and now you
get to come home.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
Energy is gonna be through the roof.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Oh my god, you got am eleven am game. Man.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
It don't matter, It don't matter. You are a home. You
know how it is when you're on the road.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
You get home, you get to sleep your own bid,
you get to walk to your refrigerator.
Speaker 6 (08:37):
Don't want to go nowhere after that?
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Nothing, You don't want to do nothing. But I'm gonna
tell you something hard. There is something about the fight
that they showed absolutely and sometimes the fight is better
than talent. All you gotta do is look at their
opponent this weekend. Nobody on Earth our thought that this
(09:04):
Vanderbilt team would be what they are right now.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
Nobody.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
If you said, oh I saw it coming, you're a liar.
They are tough, they fight hard, they they're they're they're
bootstrapped guys, and Texas is gonna need that against them
and to come to come into this game fresh after
such an exciting win. I think that this is this
(09:31):
is just what Texas needed is to grow up, like
you just said.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Well, and they found a way to get it done
and Texas continues to have that Texas fight in which
Coach Stark was talking about. But here's Coach Stark's opening statement.
After he got into kind of calm down a little bit, I.
Speaker 7 (09:49):
Thought, you know what I said last week, like once
a year you got culture wins, and that was our
culture win last week, they've got mulligan because tonight was
the culture within.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
You know.
Speaker 8 (10:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (10:05):
I said this to the team. I don't know if
I've ever been more proud of the.
Speaker 9 (10:08):
Group of guys. You know, because.
Speaker 7 (10:13):
When they go up seventeen in the fourth quarter, and
you guys have been coming football long enough to know
how many teams will when the game's over at that moment,
and these guys literally didn't blink.
Speaker 9 (10:26):
And that was one of the messages yesterday of the
team was.
Speaker 7 (10:31):
Our toughness was gonna have to be the best that
it's ever been in our programs.
Speaker 9 (10:35):
And this was our fourth straight week on the road.
Speaker 7 (10:38):
It's taken its toll on coaches, players, staff members, and
this ISLAM. It's a journey, and this conference is hard.
And the toughness they displayed, not only the physical toughness,
but the mental toughness that was needed tonight showed this
was a Texas fight was on full display. There's so
many individual players that we could touch on and individual
(11:01):
efforts and.
Speaker 9 (11:02):
So on and so forth. I'm sure you'll ask about.
Speaker 7 (11:05):
But at the end of the day, to come out
here with the wins four point four, our answer points
in the fourth quarter and overtime, I just again, I
think it just.
Speaker 9 (11:14):
Speaks where culture, culture wins.
Speaker 7 (11:16):
You know, we have talented people, but we have a
tremendous culture and it was on full display at the
end of the game.
Speaker 6 (11:23):
For I love everything that he said about that.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
The culture win the fight, the showing that hey, this
isn't over until it's actually over. And there's a lot
to touch on when we come back, because there's guys
that stepped up that wasn't expected to play, but more importantly,
there were guys that answered the call. We're just getting
started on this long horm victory. Monday coming up next,
(11:49):
we'll hear more from coach Sart at seven forty five.
You got the hards knocks life and I've got some
thoughts on that road trip, and of course the top
twenty five is crazy. LSU is looking for our coach
bet Not come here right here on the Morning Kickoff
on Sports Radio and thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back
(12:10):
to a victory Monday edition of the Morning Kickoff right
here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. It
is Monday, so that means that we will have Coach
Sarks press conference that you can hear right here on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone and always free
on the iHeartRadio app. Myself, Craig Way, and Cam Parker
(12:30):
will be at the stadium.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
We'll get the latest on arch maning.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Hopefully they will have a pleasant report because it did
not look good after he got hit on in that overtime.
But shout out to Matthew Caldwell, backup quarterback making things
happen as he had to step in and make a big,
big throw and Coach Sark talk about Matthew Caldwell stepping
(12:57):
in to make that throw.
Speaker 7 (12:59):
He gets definitely has a sense of maturity about him.
Speaker 9 (13:02):
He's you know, I.
Speaker 7 (13:04):
Think his rapport with Arch was part of it too.
They've got a great relationship and he's got this. You know,
I've been at Pardner Webb, I've been at Troy, now.
Speaker 9 (13:16):
I'm at Texas.
Speaker 7 (13:17):
I'm gonna take advantage of my opportunity that that I
get and whatever it's, if it's one play, if it's
four plays, whatever it is, him, he's gonna he's gonna
go play and he's gonna relish the opportunity. And you know,
one a moment for that guy uh to step in
and uh make that throw and uh and it mostly
with a tremendous catch. Uh.
Speaker 9 (13:36):
You know, I don't know if I've seen a better one,
quite frankly.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
I mean you think about you think about a couple
of times that he's coming to the game and the
one he ripped. That throw at home just an absolute laser.
And this is a guy that's been sitting on the
bench for exactly and for him to have the ability
to step in and the calmness and this coach Sark
(14:02):
said Gardner Webb, Troy, and just come in and make
a big time throw.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
Uh. That that's some that's a baller right there. If
you can shoot the three, you can shoot the three.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
And I told you when we were in Dallas we
paid Papa shot. I said, Man, I'm pretty good at
Papa shot. I'm not gonna brag on myself.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
You shocked about that. You know you knew what happened.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
It sure sounds like that's all I'm gonna say about that.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
You just did exactly. I didn't. I didn't.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
I didn't elaborate. Yeah, okay, go ahead. But he came
out cold cold, just two warm up throws, ran out
there on the field and dropped a three pointer from
the logo and and and don't understate the offensive line.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
We have.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
We talked so bad about the offense line the last
three weeks. It's been I felt like I was ganging
up on him. That's how they it was. I apologized
because in overtime, no leakage.
Speaker 6 (15:07):
They called the plumber. Nobody got through.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
You look at look at the protection on that In
that overtime, every play was man, oh man, people.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
Were going backwards. Can we keep that going because it
looked like they were.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
I told you it was like a mirror of what
excellence looks like. If you can maintain that last two
minutes and overtime and play like that they could beat anybody.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Well, I thought they were playing The team was playing
very well. When you put up that many points and
you're able to do that. You talked about it. First quarter,
they looked great. Second quarter, defense was giving up a
lot of plays. I mean that normally were having the
other conversation. But this is why Coach Start talked about
complementary football and just finding a way to win.
Speaker 6 (16:03):
Yeah, you know, I.
Speaker 7 (16:04):
Said to the team yesterday, We're going to start fille
to win the game, and it would require the toughness
in the Texas fight, but we were gonna win by
any means necessary. But with whatever it was gonna take,
we had to find a way to win this game.
And I think that we tapped into all of the
means that we had. You know, we weren't playing great,
and we were kind of you know, we were a
(16:26):
big little on offense, were they were moving the ball.
Speaker 9 (16:28):
All this defensively special teams was just kind of okay.
And then at the end of the game.
Speaker 7 (16:34):
The offense's ability to create exposed to plays and score.
Ryan Niboless Hunt returns, the guy does it again, and
then the defense's ability to get stops you know, the
stops that they were able to get, so all phases
came together at the most crucial times. Now we can't
keep living like this, right, I mean, that's you know,
so that that will be addressed on Monday. You know,
(16:56):
I wasn't gonna take the air out of the balloon
tonight too quick, But that's to get addressed Monday. That
sense of urgency that we're playing with in the fourth corner,
that's got to be for fourth quarters. And I don't
think that we were playing hard to work. You just
were playing well here, you know, and we've got to
got to improve. But sure feels good. Like I said
last week, I can say it again. This sure feels
(17:17):
good to be three and one of the sec that's
for sure.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
I'm I'm I'm impressed with the effort and the ability,
not the waiver. But I gotta give coach Sarka a
shoutout because we talked about what would be the keys
to changing some things up. You noticing that first drive,
what Texas did they lined up in the pistol They
(17:44):
the score that Arch made was out of the pistol formation,
and that was the thing that I thought would be
the difference they threw the ball quickly, short throws, long runs.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
It worked several times.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Now, for all of the great plays that Ryan Wingo made,
there were three plays where it was just unacceptable. If
you clean up those unacceptable plays. And I know he's
trying to run before he gets the ball in his
hand because he just knows he's got to make that
(18:23):
first guy missed. But sometimes it's just more important to
catch the ball.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
And I think the game would not have gotten out
of hand for two reasons.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
That one and the fact that there's some.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
I think it was some unfair calls, which I'm going
to talk about in my world strongest take.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
All.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Right, Well, you know, as you look at this, and
Marcus mentioned this when he got in this morning. He said,
Ryan Wingo had the best and the worst game that
you could possibly at the same time into that where
they do that at but he was able to be big.
There were some plays that broke down and Arts was
able to find him the open end play where he
(19:10):
catches the swing pass and takes it almost to the house.
He was making plays, so big time players showed up.
But the funny part that you complimented coach Sark and
our guy on war Richardson of Orange Bloods asked him
about how the week started, how it ended, and now
here we are with the victory.
Speaker 10 (19:28):
Now, I think the one thing that you know, I
try to model for our team is that I focus
on us, you know, I focus on what do I
need to do to be the best version of myself
for our players and our staff.
Speaker 7 (19:41):
I try to pour into those on our staff and
on the team. And I asked the same event, you know,
and it's not And again, I have a ton of respect.
Speaker 9 (19:49):
For the job that everybody has to do in y'all's job, But.
Speaker 7 (19:54):
What you say, what you think of me or us
is kind of irrelevant and straight for the fan, and
I understand all that, But what are we gonna do?
Not what do we think people think about us? And
so that's kind of been my focus all week. How
do we put together the best plan offense, defense, special teams,
How do we get as many guys healthy as we can,
(20:16):
How do we tap into the players that are playing
good football for us right now? And then how do
you make those adjustments in game to try to do that,
to try to find a way to win.
Speaker 10 (20:25):
And you know, I.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
Definitely wasn't perfect tonight either, But I'll go back to
the drawing board after this one to look at it,
and I'll assess our staff and our players, and we'll
try to.
Speaker 9 (20:35):
Keep getting better. That's how you go through the week
like this.
Speaker 8 (20:37):
You know.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
I just try not to listen to what everybody else
thinks of us, or what.
Speaker 10 (20:42):
We're gonna do, or what we're not gonna do, or
what changes we should make or not make.
Speaker 9 (20:46):
It's really irrelevant, you know. That's that's why I get
to put on the hat every day.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
You know, And as long as I get to keep
one of this hat, I get to make the decisions.
Speaker 9 (20:53):
And that's that's why you take this job.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
And you keep pushing the striving for greatness and pushing
those guys downstairs for every.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Day three weeks in a row. He mentioned how he
likes making the decision. He loved the challenge of being
the coach and being the coordinator at the same time.
Like you cannot deny the fact that he is good
at what he does, but he.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
Also did things different.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
He evolved as a coach as much as the players
evolved as a team this week. We talked about it
last week and the week before. Maybe he needs to
hire a coordinator after watching the second half, I don't
think so. I think that he's very, very adept and
(21:43):
qualified for what he does.
Speaker 6 (21:46):
But he also changed his mindset.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
He made different coaching calls, and that's evolution on both sides.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Playing that coach well, that's why he said. It started
one way, it hinted another way, and now he continued
to leave this team, as he said, three and one
in sec play. Finally back at home and he's excited
to be there when we come back. We'll continue these conversations.
We'll hear from Ryan Nibblet, and I'll also give you
(22:15):
my thoughts on what I've seen from this Texas football
team in the hard Knox life right here on Sports
Radio and.
Speaker 6 (22:23):
Thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Welcome back to a victory Monday edition of the morning
Kickoff right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Coming up at the top or in the.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Next segment, we're gonna talk Talk Top twenty five because
there is so much that is going on, and I
want you to hear about a coaching move that some
saw coming, but it still doesn't make sense to me,
especially the timing of it all. But right here, I
want to talk about the Texas Longhorns as they finished
(23:01):
one of the most grueling four game stretches. And I'm
not talking about competition. I'm talking about the fact that
they had to be on the road for forty two days.
Speaker 6 (23:13):
Now.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Coach Shark was asked earlier in the week about his
time in the NFL College and doing some other things,
and he's never experienced anything like this. If you remember
last year, everybody was excited. Texas got a bunch of
great home games.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
It was great.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Oh, but you had to pay the piper for joining
the new conference. They rewarded you. You got through it,
and now you had to pay it. And for Texas
to go on the road and win three out of
those four games, it looked doom and gloom. After the
Florida game, everybody was upset they didn't perform well, questioning
(23:50):
the ability of the team, and yet they were able
to finish it off by being able to go three
and one. Would an unbelievable come from behind VIC three
against Mississippi State. But through it all, Arch Manning and
I said this, in that fourth quarter against Florida, we
watched Arch grow up right before our eyes, and he's
(24:15):
continued to get better and better every single week. Does
he miss some passes, absolutely, does his guys drop some passes. Absolutely,
Does he stand in the pocket and take the pressure. Absolutely.
He's shown the ability to be a guy that is
(24:37):
here to keep his head down, go to work, and
continue to get better and better every single.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
Game he's thrown.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
He threw for what three hundred and forty six yards,
had three touchdowns through the air and one touchdown on
the ground, and he was actually getting ready to lead
Texas to another touchdown after that big run to get
a in position, and then he takes the hit and
we'll find out more a little bit more about that
hit at SAR Express availability today, But the fact of
(25:10):
the matter is Arch continues to keep fighting.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
And coach Sart talked about Arch and his performance.
Speaker 7 (25:18):
Yeah, you know, I thought Arch battle is tayloff, you know,
And again I wish we played a little better around.
Speaker 9 (25:24):
Him at times, you know, which we blocked a little
better and maybe caught a couple of more balls.
Speaker 7 (25:29):
But man, he's warrior, you know, and he he battles,
he competes, he takes hits, he gets back up, He
stands in the midst of fire and continues to throw.
And I think he grew up a lot tonight. I
will say that, you know, as much as I think
our team grew up. I know Kurt was talking about
that earlier, but I think our team grew up tonight.
Speaker 9 (25:48):
I think Arch Manning grew up tonight. And that's you.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
Need moments like this. You know, he does everything the
right way. I was talking to somebody earlier on our staff.
He does everything the right way, and people that do
think the right way. Sooner or later the tide turns
for you. He's not trying to do more different or
he is not Hay. His head just keeps working. And
you know, I think the work ethic had showed him
up there in the fourth floor.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
I was waiting on you.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
But like what what what we said in the last
segment applies to what he just said.
Speaker 6 (26:20):
Now, Arch grew up that like there were there were things.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
That he did that looked like a veteran quarterback right
there at the last him making the decision to step
up and run without thought because he read that the
linebacker dropped. He saw the linebacker act like he was
going to come. But as soon as they snapped the ball,
(26:45):
the linebacker retreated real fast and Arch was like, oh
yeah bye.
Speaker 6 (26:49):
He didn't think, he just reacted.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Those are the things that he needs to do, and
he did it on that drive.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
DN He's one of those guys that every week he
shows up, he stands in front of the media, he
talks to him, he understands, and he every every press
conference he says, I've got to play better. I've got
to play better. I've got to play better. He won't
put it on anybody else. He just makes things happen.
But coach Stark also said this, you got to be
able to play complementary football. And through the last few weeks,
(27:22):
Ryan Nibblet has been that guy that has made plays.
And here's what he had to say about that game
tying punt return.
Speaker 11 (27:33):
I just knew something had to be done. Like I
feel like I was missing up before the game and
I was out lading all the way on me. So
when I coached, he ripped me before the book for
the part before that I cut it up. He was like, no,
if heat the ball to the wall, and all I
was trustan. I took the ball to the wall and
he just opened it.
Speaker 9 (27:48):
For it's a shark Coach fas.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
Way again, they see it.
Speaker 11 (27:56):
But Mark Slowey, he did. He always the last block.
He always the person that don't push me to a
forward to touch down.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
He's always the last block and he's been making that block.
Marshall land Worth the last walk on to get a scholarship.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
That happened this August.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
He was put on scholarship because of his hard work,
dedication and being that guy that shows up all the time.
And he deserves to be padded on the back because
he's the one that has been clearing the way for
those big returns. I mean the whole special teams, but
he's that final block to get into the house.
Speaker 6 (28:36):
My hype train was about the special teams and.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Namely Ryan Nibblet, but the kickers, and I did not
put him in because you know, like who puts in
the guy that makes the final block. But how important
have those blocks been for him? The same block in ou,
the same block in this game against Mississippi State. He
(29:03):
is doing his job. And that's what coach Sark was saying,
complimentary football. Everybody do your job, and he was very
consistent in doing his.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
It's funny because during the game.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
I've got a former roommate and he's a big league
hitting coach right now in the major leagues, and he
was texting me during the game. He said, oh, oh,
my dogs are trying to pull off the upset. And
I was like, yeah, y'all are doing well, and he said, well,
I don't know if we're going to be strong enough
in the end because you boys are driving Lambeaus and
(29:34):
my boys are driving Charge Charging Charge Challengers and the Hellcats.
And I sat back to him and they're eating super
beats because you know that's that secret weapon.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
That's his secret weapon.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
Human go to human with two ins put two INDs.
That's right. Don't say the code word because it's Mike. Mike.
Well the co workers Mark.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
But that's why things like this happened. Shout out to Human,
Shout out to the Texas football team for being able
to persevere in a tough, tough situation. Forty five to
thirty eight, and we'll hear from coach start this afternoon,
well this morning, starting at eleven o'clock with myself, Craig Way,
and Cam Parker and then Coach Sark at eleven thirty
(30:19):
right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Welcome back to the morning kickoff right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Coming up at the
top of the hour, we'll talk to our guy, Tommy
Yarish of Dallascowboys dot Com, talking about all things Dallas Cowboys,
what we saw, and of course what Jerry said after
(30:41):
the gang. But as we talk about the top twenty five,
there's so much that is going on that the news
came out yesterday after Texas A and M destroyed LSU
forty nine to twenty five, and everybody wanted Brian Kelly gone.
(31:01):
There's not a lot of folks that are big fans
of Brian Kelly in the game. But as I said,
there's some times that you sit there and you wonder
what are people thinking, and what do I.
Speaker 6 (31:13):
Mean by that?
Speaker 1 (31:14):
You've got to pay this guy now that you have
fired him and the season is still going on by
the way, you had fired him, and now you have
to pay him fifty three million dollars. His contract is
through twenty thirty one. Now I'm sitting here and when
the news was breaking last night, I was sitting at
(31:36):
home and I was like, why would you fire him
right now?
Speaker 6 (31:40):
Why? Yeah, wait till the end of the season. You know,
And I think I understand why.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Number one, the natives are restless, so administration is feeling
the pressure.
Speaker 6 (31:50):
Of it all.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
But more importantly, you start to look at if he
gets hot, then you're going to be in that emotional
situation of trying to figure out should I let him
go or not? You mean the less miles, the less
miles situation. But I want you to Jeff Goodman, who
(32:12):
does hoops. He's at Jeff Goodman hoops and he goes.
So let me get this straight. LSU athletic director Scott
Woodward hired jimbo at Texas A and M, and then
he also hired Brian Kelly at LSU. Both coaches were
fired and the schools had to pay them a grand
(32:33):
total of one hundred and thirty million dollars in buyouts.
So why does he still have a job. If you
go out there and you do those types of things,
it's interesting to see how this plays out now in
(32:53):
defense of him. Beyond board, that's the tennis player was
the one who gave him the extension before it was time.
So it is going to be interesting to see how
all of these guys continue to make it through with
these buyouts that are astronomical, which is why when the
(33:18):
conversation about coach Sark happened. You look at these contracts
and you're like, Sark's not going anywhere if you had
time to really process, and they're winning. They're winning here.
So it's a difference in thought process, But it is
what have you done for me lately? We've all talked
about it. Brian Kelly's thirty four and thirteen at LSU,
(33:42):
but the LSU fans are tired of him. And maybe
it's his attitude, maybe it's the way it carries himself,
maybe it's the arrogance. But you know who's not upset
the folks at Texas A and M, because here they
are eight to h in the regular season with the
possibility of going nine and ten and oh eleven and
(34:03):
zer before they get here to play Texas Loanhorse.
Speaker 8 (34:05):
Well.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
I think it's also the fact that he lost the
locker room. And if you go back and listen to
his opening addressing to the LSU fan base, he was
a phony ass country accent, oh yeah yeah, And he's
(34:26):
done several things like that since he's phony, and he's
pissed a lot of people off harde and and losing
is just the thing that took everybody over the edge.
There are several players that have complained about I was
told that I was getting.
Speaker 6 (34:48):
This money, and they did, that's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
There were several players that were told, hey, you're the guy,
we won't we won't bring you in here to play,
and then they don't get to play.
Speaker 6 (35:02):
You can't you can't go back on your.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Word, and you can't not pay somebody when you said
you were gonna pay him, and then you can't come
across as wishy washy and phoney too.
Speaker 6 (35:14):
And he's speaking of phony. Is it's like they if
they had a coach that was from that area that
won a national championship. I do wonder what he would
be doing right now.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
You're talking about orgerun. But that's why I that's why
this is kind of out of line. It's kind of
out of line when you sit back and you think
about it. There's plenty of schools that are doing the
same situation. They don't a lot of schools don't have
(35:43):
the money. They're trying to find the money like this
the money that is involved in this. You don't have
money to pay the players, but you got fifty four
million to walk out the door.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
Walk out the door. And it's not the only one.
Ed Orgerun's get paid too.
Speaker 12 (36:01):
LS.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
You don't even have the money. That's what I'm talking about.
Last year there was eight hundred and forty five million
in debt.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
That's why I'm saying for coaches to be fired. Now
you went out and got this guy, you would and
this was your guy after you fired Ed. Oh, and
you're paying both of those guys to be gone, like
it doesn't make sense.
Speaker 6 (36:29):
And now you gotta go hire another staff.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Another staff, another coach with a buyout, with a buyout
because the game of college football has changed so much
that people don't make rational decisions. You don't make economical decisions.
Because there's no reason that all of these coaches are
(36:53):
sitting at home getting paid this money.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Hey, I'm going after these recruits and these players that
want to come and have it be a part of it,
like should not. You don't want people dancing in video,
You don't want people trying to sing on your songs.
Come on the long horn Land, come on to Texas.
I was at my recruit pitch right now.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
And I'm sure a lot of people are doing that
on the offensive line. But if you and the same
thing is gonna happen when you have to Now you
have to go and not only pay that buyout, you
got to pay for the other coaches buy out as
well that you're about to go get because you're not.
You can't bring in just some Joe Schmoe because you've
already done. You've ran off so many. So you're looking
(37:37):
at Lane Kiffin, you think he's not gonna have to have.
Speaker 6 (37:39):
A big bayout.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
You look at Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator, he would
be the smart choice. James Franklin is getting paid to
not be coaching right now, So you're creating another mess
that you don't financial habits, you don't financially But yeah,
(38:01):
let's get him out of here.
Speaker 6 (38:02):
Well that's that knee jerk reaction. Let's see how it turns.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Out because they're going to be in a lot of trouble.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Next year, a lot of coaches getting paid to not
do anything.
Speaker 6 (38:13):
Well, our number one is in the books.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Coming up in hour number two, we will talk to
Tommy Yarsh of Dallascowboys dot com.
Speaker 6 (38:22):
We are the home of the.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Dallas Cowboys, so we will talk to him and get
the latest from Jerry right here on the Morning Kickoff
our sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back
to our number two of a Longhorns victory Monday edition
of the Morning Kickoff right here on sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred The Zone takes wins forty five to thirty
(38:46):
eight in Starkville.
Speaker 6 (38:47):
We got a chance to hear from the players.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
We also got a chance to hear more from coach
sark as he broke down that win. But now it's
time to talk to our friend Tommy of Dallascowboys dot com.
Not about good things, because the Cowboys go into Denver, Colorado,
and let's just say that the mile high was not
(39:12):
in a positive way. Tommy, what was your takeaway from
the Dallas Cowboys defeat in Denver yesterday?
Speaker 12 (39:23):
You know, my main takeaway is this is going to
be my second straight week of asking if Mark Henry
is available on now Monday night and if you would
be willing to wear a star on his helmet. But
aside from that, you know, really this game I kind
of circled as all right, this is gonna be your
(39:44):
litmus test. You know, you talk about we talked so
much about this offense and number one unit in football,
Dak Prescott's playing an MVP level. All Right, what does
it look like against this group? Because le Broncos defense
the best pass rush in the NFL, they've got defensive
Player of the Year at corner and pats.
Speaker 8 (40:02):
Or fan, what does it look like?
Speaker 6 (40:04):
And didn't look good.
Speaker 12 (40:05):
The offense has not looked good. They could never find
any sort of rhythm. They couldn't find any balance because
they couldn't efficiently run. The football Church Ofvonsea Williams had
two touchdowns, but you only having forty one yards rushing
in total. So it was a rough day all around.
And then of course if your offense isn't clicking, we've
seen what that does for the Cowboys in general, because
(40:27):
their defense can't get anything, can't get a stop. I
thought they did well early, you know, obviously the interception
on the opening driving and they go and force a punt,
so Denver was out of sorts. But as soon as
they sailed in and realized, all right, we can just
kind of dink and dunk our way down the fields
and still leave them take advantage of some big plays.
Speaker 8 (40:49):
It was you could kind of have the you can
kind of see.
Speaker 12 (40:52):
The riding on the wall pretty early. It was only
a matter of time before they blew that one open.
Dallas hung around there a little bit, but it fell.
It is only a matter of time before Denver sprung free,
and they did. So that's that's that's a tough loss.
That's the really the third game this year where you.
Speaker 8 (41:10):
Know, I'll say I would have been looping in with.
Speaker 12 (41:14):
Chicago and Carolina in retrospect as the games that they
should have had going in, Like you think of games
that this Cowboys team should win because the talent they've
got on the field. But Denver was just the better
football team. More important, they were more physical football team yesterday.
Speaker 6 (41:30):
Tommy.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Also, when you go to Denver, you're playing twelve on
eleven in every unit that you play on because of
the aptitude. I was hoping that the Cowboys would go there, like,
you know, three or four days early and practice there
and so they can be ready for that altitude. I
saw guys with their hands on their knees and hands
(41:53):
behind their head, you know, trying to suckond win. That
didn't help none either, did Did you see a.
Speaker 6 (42:01):
Lot of that?
Speaker 12 (42:04):
Honestly, Mark, I didn't. I didn't really see a lot of,
you know, the opposite having an issue with which I
kind of thought was surprising. As the as the game
went on, you know, maybe defensively you probably had some
a little bit because well, I.
Speaker 8 (42:18):
Mean they couldn't get off the field.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
And yeah, that may have more to do with it.
Speaker 8 (42:25):
Right altitude or not.
Speaker 12 (42:26):
They could be playing below sea level and they still
would have been exhausted because how long they had been
out there. But no, you know, I don't know. Obviously
I can't speak for the players, but I don't I
don't recall with anybody post games saying, oh yeah.
Speaker 8 (42:41):
That that outsuit is real deal man like it kind
of it kind.
Speaker 12 (42:44):
Of got us.
Speaker 8 (42:44):
And there there was that.
Speaker 12 (42:46):
It was really more just some you know, a lack
of execution and a lack of uh, you know, being
able to make the plays that are necessary to get
stops and and win football games. And you know, you
think about the fact too, that the Cowboys were just
actually decimated in the secondary by injuries. You know. Trayvon
Biggs is on ir Now you're down your two starting
(43:08):
safeties and then your backup safety. So you've got.
Speaker 8 (43:11):
Marquise Bell who usually plays on special.
Speaker 12 (43:13):
Teams, and Elijah Clark, who's an undrafted freeze and rookie.
Good player, but he's a young player, and you know,
and then then Clark goes down to the rib injury,
so you've got Reddy Stewart, who's your backup slot corner
all of a sudden going and playing safety for you.
So it was just kind of musical shares for Dallas
in the secondary. And Jack Sanborn can't go, so there's
(43:33):
another guy you got to count for. It was just,
you know, they did not have the personnel, They were
not on the same page, they weren't communicating.
Speaker 8 (43:40):
Well. A lot of those same issues that.
Speaker 12 (43:42):
Have been bugging Dallas all year came right up again yesterday.
And you know, Sean Payton is a is a damn
good football coach, and you know, the Jonalen does have
so much respect for him. Jerry said earlier in the
week last week that he thought at one point Sean
Payne would be the head coach of the Cowboys at
one point, and they just could never marry their their
(44:03):
times together, and Brian Schottenheimer talked about how much of
an influence he's been on him. So there's a lot
of respect for Sean Payton, and he showed his respect
for them by laying forty four points on him, because
that's the way that you know, that's Sean, That's how
Sean Payton played. He coached the heck of a game.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
Yeah, we're talking to Tommy yarshrom Dallas Cowboys dot com.
You can follow Matt Tommy underscore Yars. I think one
of the moves that was happening in that game was
when Schottenheimer decided to punt instead of going for on
that fourth and five. You know, you start to look
at the game and you say, all right, are we
(44:41):
gonna be able to move the football? Well, he had
an opportunity to do some things and he didn't. Why
do you think it was at that moment that he decided, well,
I'm not gonna do that.
Speaker 12 (44:54):
Yeah. I My guess would be that the only the
only thing I can come up with us. Ryan Anger
was punting the ball really well yesterday. And you know,
I think he had three of his punts laying inside
the twenty yard line, and so I think in his mind,
it's okay, we're helped me with the score. I think
it was a seventeen point game, if I'm not mistaken.
(45:16):
At the time, I think he's thinking maybe all right,
you know, and it was it was in the third quarter,
so I think he's thinking, look, we've got you know,
a quarter and a and a quarter right here, or
a quarter and a half over long was left.
Speaker 6 (45:30):
You know.
Speaker 12 (45:30):
I had trust the offense and if we can pin
him back deep. When Denver was pinning back, they they
had trouble getting out of their own end zone. So
I think that was maybe the thought process. But obviously
in retrospect it's easy to say, okay, I would have
gone for it. But the way that the way that
the defense is playing over the course of the day,
I still think that that that's probably one were brideshot
(45:52):
number say say, my bad, I should have gone for
that one. I don't know. I'm sure he was asked
about that post game. I was not at his campress
the entire time. I was in the locker room and
talking aout Jerry Jones, so I might have missed his
answer on that. I'll have to go back and check
it today. But yes, I would have absolutely gone forward
in that scenario, given how your defense is.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
Played, Tommy, don't you think that a long pass is
in an interception, a chance for interception is like a punt,
rather than just giving them the ball back and letting
them run the clock when they have a lead, and
they had a successful running game already.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
The running game.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
Was was going so well for them that I figured that,
you know, like, let't not of them have the ball.
Speaker 12 (46:38):
Yeah, I get that to an extent, But you know,
I think what what Bran Scheinnheimers trying to do is
keep the ball in his offense his hands, right, because
that's the only good unit that's that's been playing for him.
But again he opted not to do that, and you
know what, then you see what ensues right like that,
that's kind of just how the ball bounces sometimes. Now, granted,
(47:01):
regardless of what he does there, I don't think the
Cowboys win this game if they if they go for it,
get it, go down and score a touchdown, they get
a ten point game. I find it very difficult to
see a scenario where the Broncos don't on that drive
or the following bars right down the field and scoring
on a touchdown. I mean, bo Nicks was just making
it look easy. This is a guy who usually is
(47:23):
you know, he throws the most screen passes in the
highest screen percentage in the NFL, and usually they lean
on that probably about a third of the time offensively.
And they were still using the screen game, but I
mean they didn't really need to. He was throwing all
over the field and the guys were running wide open,
so they could have won that game anyway they wanted
to through the air on the ground. I mean, I
(47:47):
wouldn't have been shocked if that he got the quarterback
run game going even and let bow Knicks run down
the field, he probably would have had the same amount
of success. And he's not necessarily a runner. I mean,
Sam Ellinger could have gone in there yesterday and had
just the be good of the day. I saw him
more enough, So it was just a matter of, you know,
regardless of what had happened. I don't think that's a
(48:08):
game that Dallas wins.
Speaker 6 (48:09):
Let me ask you this, Tommy, before we let you go.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
You got a chance to go in there and talk
to Jerry Jones, and obviously he always has a lot
to say, and some of that had to do with
the possible moves on the trade deadline. What was your
what was your thoughts on what Jerry had to say after.
Speaker 12 (48:31):
Yeah, you know, Jerry's gonna say that he said again
yesterday he's not moved one way or another by the
results of this game, and uh, you know that's the
that's the political answer obviously. You know, he's looking at
this saying, man, we've got some trouble on defense. But
I think what was interesting what he said was, you know,
I don't think we're one player away defensively from from
(48:54):
being a good defense. And so that to me says,
you know, I'm thinking, okay, if that's the case, then
you keep your picks and and you mean, you keep
your two first round picks, and you just got to
live with what you got defensively for the rest of
the season. I know that's that art the stomach for
(49:14):
Cowboys fans, and it's not not the well all Cowboys
fans maybe besides me and Mark, but in the sense
that you know, the season militarily isn't over, like they're
not throwing the hat in on the season. But I
(49:35):
think you recognized, you know, if we are not one
or even two players away for making this defense even
just an average defense, just just average. Then why are
we going to give up draft capital? And we've got
so much of it and we can hold onto it,
and you know, this offseason look to really load up.
I mean, look at what the Falcons did with their
(49:56):
first two first round picks, you know, James Pears and
Jalen Walker. I know Pierce has been a little bit
more than a Walker has up to this point, but
Atlanta's pass rush now is now one of the reasons
why they were the top defenses in the NFL. And
so I know the Dolphins hung like forty on him yesterday.
That's probably terrible timing to bring that up, but nonetheless.
Speaker 8 (50:15):
You know, that shows you that those two first round ficks.
Speaker 12 (50:18):
Can really make a difference for for what you want
to do defensively offensively as a team, like, those two
picks can can change everything. And Dallas has that for
two years. So that didn't really change the landscape of
everything that you've got going on here. And people are like, oh, well,
then okay, well you're not going to take advantage of
Dak Prescott's you know, best year of his career. Well,
(50:41):
I mean, I guess not. But but you certainly would
hope that Dak Prescott is still playing at a level
close to what he's playing that next year and in
the year after that too. And I know that's a
lot to ask, but you know, if you keep George
Pickens around, then you got a shot at doing that.
So there's a lot of for this team. But to
(51:02):
go back to your question, Yeah, it sounds like Jerry
is maybe a little bit more hesitant now to a
trade in terms of going to acquire players, but they
might be more open to a trade that sells player.
I think the Cowboys might end up being sellers of
the deadline and see if they can try to get
more draft capital to use here in the in the
(51:24):
coming years so they can try and rebuild this defense
to the draft.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
Oh there is Tommy Yars of Dallas Cowboys dot Com,
Tommy B saying brother, thank you time man.
Speaker 12 (51:35):
Right, gentlemen, thank you all right.
Speaker 1 (51:37):
When we come back, we'll continue the conversations of the NFL.
A lot of movers and shakers yesterday right here on
the Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred the
ZIGN Welcome back to the morning Kickoff right here, on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Make sure you
tuned in this afternoon as we get ready to listen
(51:59):
to coach at his weekly press conferences con Conference now Conferences.
I'm looking at the conference's buyouts on all these coaches
and got me all fired up. But you get a
chance to listen to Craig Way, myself and Cam Parker
starting at eleven o'clock where Coach Sark will take the
microphone at eleven thirty. Speaking of that, top four college
(52:24):
football buyouts right now before we get into the NFL.
Brian Kelly is the latest in the buyouts. Fifty three
million dollars Penn States, James Franklin forty nine million dollars,
Napier twenty one point four million dollars, Okay State, Gundy
(52:50):
fifteen million dollars, Pittman nine point three million dollars, Pride
from Virginia Tech six point eight Deshaun Foster six million,
Brain from Oregon State four million, Trent dilferd got three million,
and Jay Norvelle from Colorado State one point five million dollars.
Speaker 6 (53:11):
Man that tud differ in j Norville. That was a deal.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Yeah, they couldn't. I mean, but look at where they were.
Them people ain't got no money either, you know, you
start thinking about it. And then our guy Ross Dellinger,
who we've had on the show, he said, if LSU
and Brian Kelly agreed to even half of what he owed,
twenty seven million FBS coaches would have been committed to
spending one hundred and forty FBS school excuse me, one
(53:37):
hundred and forty million over ten fire coaches. Wow, that's ridiculous.
And it's October. There's going to be more coaches get
fired later. Yeah, I mean, it's it's utterly ridiculous that this.
You negotiate these buyouts and you accept them, and it's like,
(53:59):
you don't have that kind of financial money you think
you do in the in the world of nil, where
the school now is on the hook for twenty point.
Speaker 6 (54:08):
Three million dollars in athletics. That's just football.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
You're not even talking basketball and baseball coaches that are
getting told to go away. The universities are now in
a bad spot because the fans keep losing their minds.
Speaker 6 (54:26):
It's crazy. Is entitled to have a bad season, it
seems that way, but it's not allowed. You're not allowed.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
You're not allowed to have allowed to have a bad season.
What if your star player goes down for you're.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Recruiting all these people don't matter, five star, You don't care.
Speaker 6 (54:45):
They were trying to The lady said that she won
the lottery.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
She was gonna pay Kaylin Duboor's seventy million dollars of
his biot.
Speaker 6 (54:53):
They're a number four ranked team in the nation right now.
Knee jerk. Then you say that a.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
Reactions, Oh, he's not doing what we expect him to
do at the playing fields are even now. You don't
have the best players anymore by yourself. Why do you
think Nick Saban said, I'm good, y'all have y'all, y'all
knock each other out, y'all cannibalize yourselves. I mean, it
(55:25):
is difficult for all of these universities to go out
and perform at the level that we expect them to
every single day.
Speaker 2 (55:37):
But when I when I hear stories hard of oh
there's a big function going on and the coach didn't
like how that's going, and you grab all your team
all right, everybody we out that that looks bad. Like
those are things that it's hard to come back from.
(55:57):
And you don't have allies like you create more enemies
to come for you when the time comes, because they
start throwing gasoline on the fire. They see the fire, nigga,
Oh yeah, now's the time to say he did this
to us. Yeah, So like now is that's becoming a
(56:19):
thing in that situation. You didn't hear that from James Franklin.
James Franklin stuff was just about football. Like you you
go to Louisiana and they're like, man, this phony dude.
I mean I'm telling about players.
Speaker 1 (56:36):
Well, I mean that you know, game recognized game, so
when you see it, you understand what it looks like, you.
Speaker 6 (56:41):
Know what the locker room is like, yeah, and see
him going their line.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
And that is why I'm just curious to how all
of this is going to play out because it is
a trickle down effect. It is a trickle down effect
because it will go from one university LSU. Now you're
gonna get a coach from another university and then they're
(57:05):
gonna have to go through it. And then they're gonna
have to go through it because the chain reaction of
everything that's out there, As I said to you just
a little while ago, you start to look at all
of these other coaches that are sitting out there. It's
a lot, man, there's a lot of coaches that are
looking for jobs right.
Speaker 6 (57:22):
Now as we speak. Yet no one is immune to
the situation.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
And you water in the market down like you have
all those coaches in the market, they're gonna be like, well,
we got to pick it the litters.
Speaker 6 (57:35):
I mean there's six of them, let's downplay everybody. Yeah,
it is.
Speaker 1 (57:42):
It's a tough, tough little bill that's going on. But
one team that is very happy with what they've been
able to do is Texas A and M. As we
talked about, Texas A and M went out and put
it on and put it on the Aggies. I mean
the Aggies put it on LSU, which led to this
Old Miss went in and handled their business against Oklahoma
(58:05):
in the SEC Auburn and Arkansas that came down to
the very end, and Auburn gets to keep their coach.
They were talking about if he'd have lost that game,
he might have been fired. That's the other part. He
would have been fired. Then you look at what happened
with the Alabama game. Came on the board, his team
(58:25):
fighting it back to win that game and South Carolina
fumbles with their lead player sellers to get the ball.
Speaker 6 (58:33):
They end up winning that game. Vanderbilt, who's now number.
Speaker 1 (58:37):
Nine, gets a last second win against Missouri. Missouri gets
a hell married at LANs at the one yard line
that could have tied the game. And then Texas obviously
being able to beat Mississippi State, Kentucky and Tennessee. Kentucky
about to lose their coach, So now you're about to
(58:59):
have to go in and replace that.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
It's just how much is his buyout or is he
at the end of his deal? Anyway, I think he's
more at the end.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
But they but even then, you're you're going up having
to pay something. You gonna end up having to play something.
But do you have to make that move because you're
pretty much a basketball school.
Speaker 6 (59:20):
You want to compete, but you're a basketball school.
Speaker 1 (59:22):
People when they say Kentucky, they thinking of the Wildcat
basketball team. They're not thinking about the football team. But
still there there are situations there. So Auburn has to
I mean, Arkansas has to get their new coach. Uh
South Carolina he may be on the verge again fired
because they are one and five. They were a team
that people thought Leonora's Sellers was a Heisman Trophy candidate.
Speaker 6 (59:47):
Of the Year. There was a lot of that though,
there was a lot of guys that were out there.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
Lineup for who was gonna be a Heisman It's been rewritten.
Speaker 1 (59:56):
Oh, it's been shuffled around like uh a three aren't
monte like a party at Gilbadernas's house.
Speaker 6 (01:00:03):
You know, Wow, shots, here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
When we come back, we'll have the world's Strongest man
bringing you his world's strongest tank right here on the
morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred.
Speaker 6 (01:00:17):
That's up. Seemed like a remix, but it is what
it is. You heard the music drop. You know what
time it is? W WE Hall of.
Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
Famer and World's Strongest Man d Mark Henry brings you
his world's strongest take.
Speaker 6 (01:00:31):
Take it away, big fella, arg what's up? You know
what time? And then we'll talk.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
This is time for the World's Strongest take by the
world's strongest man.
Speaker 6 (01:00:42):
My guys back then they didn't know me. Now I'm hot,
say all on me.
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Well, I can't speak for coach Sark because we just
found out this weekend that that's no no do not
for coach Sark, don't make accusations without his permission. He
would be able to, he would do that on his own.
(01:01:12):
But I'm gonna say something that coach Sark would not say.
And I was very aggravated during the game because in
the second quarter arch man and did a little scramble,
got a blatant face mask, didn't get called.
Speaker 6 (01:01:36):
Third quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
Driving, arch Manning sees the linebacker retreat, steps up the
run and gets just blatantly tripped.
Speaker 6 (01:01:50):
The guy stuck his leg out and tripped him. Didn't
call it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
Arch man in the fourth quarter driving again about the
score runs same scenario. He recognized that that linebacker didn't come,
so you run, he runs, he gets tackled, and the
(01:02:19):
guy hits him in the back of the head with
the top of the was a spear. It was a
targeting which would have put them half the distance to
the goal. Automatic first down. Maybe you just walk it in.
Speaker 6 (01:02:38):
But nonetheless it did not get called.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Three quarters major penalties did not get called. And and
coach sarkas not, you know, he's a high road guy.
I'm sure that they have a report that they're able
to fill out and say, hey, what how they feel
about the quality of the game and the calls with
(01:03:07):
it being like you know, legal and respectfully to the
officiating crews, well, this officiating crew had the home cooking, y'all,
Texas very likely could have won, could.
Speaker 6 (01:03:22):
Have lost that game based on just those three calls.
Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
Nevertheless, the holding penalties against the defense that didn't get caught,
I thought that it was very bad. I thought that
they need to investigate it hard to what say you.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
I don't know about the investigations and all that stuff,
but I do believe for good reason, coach Shark's not
going to have criticized the officials because they'll get fined.
Number one, he don't want right, no, tick, I didn't
want them to get fined.
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
So I'm kind of like you remember Dave Chappelle used
to have translator.
Speaker 6 (01:04:01):
Yeah, I'm coach translator talking for him. He said, don't
do it, don't talk. He said, don't do it, don't
talk for him.
Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
But I do agree that there are some things that
are just egregiously wrong and they need to be fixed.
But there's other things that need to happen as well.
I mean, got to protect yourself when you're running around
like that, and if arch gets up and tells the ref, hey,
(01:04:29):
let this dude drab my face mask, because you don't
ever see that though, like he got up, he didn't.
He didn't get up, and he was emphatic about that.
He didn't get up. And the other one he couldn't
get up. He couldn't because he didn't know where it
was from what I saw. So there's a lot that
that coach sark and this team continues to try to
(01:04:50):
work out. But here's the biggest thing for me through
all that that you mentioned, they persevered, they did they
worked all the way through it. They found a way
to get things done. And for me, that Texas football
team showed us all a lot.
Speaker 6 (01:05:08):
But you you know what it's like to have the
deck stacked against you.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:05:12):
Absolutely, you live in that body, and and and and
it's unfair.
Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
This is what I was saying, Like, I'm tired of
Texas getting the sec hate because I think that's some
of it that plays a part in it. I'm tired
of Texas getting the well, you gonna get everybody's best shot.
I'm comfortable with that, but I don't like the fact
that a lot of this hate is manufactured because of
(01:05:41):
where Texas came.
Speaker 6 (01:05:42):
From and that's over with we we are them now.
Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
With them, we're.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
Sec You should be cheering for us to be successful
because it's gonna make what you look good if you
beat us. Look at Florida. Everybody was talking about Florida.
Oh Florida's back, that's.
Speaker 6 (01:06:10):
What that's what you get. But that's not what you
got on Saturday. Yep. On Saturday, it looked like the
deck was stacked.
Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
It looked like it looked like Vegas, Like it's like
real Vegas, not Start Vegas.
Speaker 6 (01:06:26):
It looked like Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
You're gonna go there and you know you're not gonna
win because the deck is stacked against you.
Speaker 6 (01:06:35):
That's what I felt like happened. And I'm sticking to it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
And this is not a ref this is not something
that's coming from coach Sarka or the University of Texas.
Speaker 6 (01:06:45):
This is my own personal opinion. I know what my
eyes tell me.
Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
When when you have a defensive end that gets held,
I mean like he's turning like I'm trying to.
Speaker 6 (01:06:59):
Get away.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Multiple times on both sides of the line of scrimmage,
and they don't call it.
Speaker 6 (01:07:07):
That means they don't care. They mean that they don't
want to make the call.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Yoh, and I felt like Texas had Texas was playing
with eleven and Mississippi State was playing with.
Speaker 6 (01:07:20):
Twelve a lot of times. Just my opinion.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Well, I mean, there's no fact to it, there's no
way to prove it. But you can go back and
look at the game and see a blatant open field trip.
Speaker 6 (01:07:36):
Right up the middle. You can see Arch on the
ground already get hit in the back of the head
with the top crown of a helmet.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
You can see him get face masks, scrambling out of
the pocket from running behind his offensive lineman and get
his face masks and chin strap grabbed.
Speaker 6 (01:07:58):
I didn't make it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
Up, So I mean, yeah, I'm I'm, I'm I sound
like a whiner, but you know what, I'm comfortable with it.
Speaker 6 (01:08:11):
It's okay to that. Look here, here's the here's the deal,
and prove me wrong, say that I'm wrong. I dag
you to go back and look at the film.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
All I'm saying is you didn't see none of the
players reacting that matter, because they classy. They're taught to
have class man. If somebody pull my face mask, that's
a natural reaction. To get up and say, hey, he's
pulling my face.
Speaker 6 (01:08:35):
Man, that's not what That's not how coach Sark's teams do.
Have you ever seen him do it? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
Okay, disagree, go ahead, I don't like it anymore. We're
not on the same team.
Speaker 1 (01:08:51):
We will close out the show and send you to
Dan Patrick Major League Baseball and Monday Night Football.
Speaker 6 (01:08:58):
Which one are you watching? Both?
Speaker 1 (01:09:01):

Speaker 6 (01:09:41):
So just remember this, keep it locked on this station.
Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
We're number one in your preset and number two on
your podcast preset, So make sure you.
Speaker 6 (01:09:50):
Tune in all day long. Also, we'll keep the party going.
Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
Texas women have a basketball game tonight, so you will
definitely be listening to that right here on Sports Radio
AM thirteen hundreds. So shout out to Texas volleyball. They
continue to mash people all over the map. No matter
what city they go to, they're beating somebody. And that's
(01:10:17):
why they continue to be undefeated eighteen and ten and
oher in conference play nine and oh on the road,
and I mean at home in seven and oh on
the road. Eighteen game winning streak for Texas volleyball.
Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
And they are getting everybody's best shot. They are the
Litanus tests to greatness and volleyball right now. And I
watched them just recently against Old Miss. Old Miss was
playing way above and beyond themselves against Texas. And then
of course, you know, Cream rise to the top and
(01:10:59):
in the and in the second and third games, they
you know, kind of turned into real true Texas. But
in that first one hard it was like thirty one
thirty Yeah, like I mean the number was I don't
know if I've ever seen a volleyball match go that high. Yeah, Well,
(01:11:19):
start ended up being thirty five to thirty three. They
went on to win that match and then the second
match twenty five to eighteen, lost the third one twenty
five to twenty one, but ended up winning the final
one twenty five to eighteen. So Texas now will set
its sights on Texas A and M. That game will
take place.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
That match will take place on Friday, Halloween Night, and
you can watch it on the SEC network. As I said,
we've got women's basketball tonight right here on sports Radio
AM thirteen hundred Zone. The final exhibition before the regular
season starts. They will be taking on Texas Women's University.
(01:12:02):
That will be at seven o'clock, but you can hear
it all right here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
the Zone. Major League Baseball continues to roll on as
the World Series is now tied one game apiece. Friday,
the Blue Jays handled their business with some big swinging
bats eleven to four, but the pitching performance on Saturday
(01:12:24):
led the Dodgers to a five to one victory. Tonight,
you get to see Mad Max Scherzer. That's right, folks.
Mad Max is on the mound tonight, and folks are
a little worried because you are not allowed to talk
to Max sergeer before he pitches.
Speaker 6 (01:12:40):
Well, hold on a second, we'll make sure we get
that sound for you.
Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Because mad Max is one of those psycho pitchers that
you don't talk to him, whether he's as a no
hitter or a shutout, but you don't talk to him
at all.
Speaker 6 (01:12:53):
Is that his thing? Like, just don't bother me, let
me focus. Yeah, they're gonna tell you about it if
you've talked to him on his start day. No, but
when did you learn that?
Speaker 9 (01:13:01):
I actually knew that before coming over here to take hot.
Speaker 6 (01:13:03):
Do you talk to him? Does he scare you on
his start days? Yes?
Speaker 7 (01:13:07):
Do I know?
Speaker 6 (01:13:08):
He says you can talk to him before he puts
his headphones on, But I'm.
Speaker 9 (01:13:11):
Just knock caressing.
Speaker 6 (01:13:12):
You can talk to him until he puts his headphones on.
If you tried to talk to him with his headphones on, yeah,
he will, please you.
Speaker 4 (01:13:19):
Try to do my high five or something the pregame.
Speaker 6 (01:13:23):
So I messed up. No one told me not to
talk to him. He got out of a jam. I
think it was in like the third inning. I went
to high five and he walked right past me, so
I patted him on the button. He had some choice
words for me and then we.
Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
Had a laugh after been very close to being run
over when he's gone around corners and there's yeah stop.
Speaker 6 (01:13:40):
I want to ask him about it, but I'm scared
of him. I say, Hilt the game year in, Well
he's been he Can people talk to you on star days? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:13:50):
Absolutely. Do not talk to that man when he gets
ready to uh pitch a baseball game because he is
locked in and ready to go.
Speaker 6 (01:14:03):
Man, I love it. I know who that guy is.
I know exactly who he is. Hey, I'm you know,
nobody talks more than me. I love people.
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
You have to tell me Mark, let's lock in and
finish the show. Like I know they want to autograph,
but let him make it but hard when I compete it.
Don't talk to me, don't look at me like I
don't want to hear nothing. I had my headphones on
(01:14:34):
and it was like all about I made everybody my enemy.
My coaches didn't talk to me until they said what
weight do you want to take?
Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
And if I said it and they said that's a
little heavy, I just stare at him like are you
doubting me?
Speaker 9 (01:14:56):
Oh lord?
Speaker 6 (01:14:57):
My coach. I it on there like that's that's the
mentality that he has.
Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
And you see if his if his teammates are freat
the dude that's going to have to take that pitch.
Speaker 6 (01:15:13):
Oh yeah, he thinks this dude, this dude fin hit
me in the ear.
Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Yeah, he's uh, he's a little bit different and sometimes
that's what that's what you need in these particular moments.
Also tonight we have NFL football, the Washington Commanders versus
the Kansas City Chiefs. The interesting part about this is
we thought Jayleen Daniels was going to be able to start. Well,
he's not going to be able to play in the
(01:15:39):
game at all, so he is out. So the Commander's
line now is at ten and a half. Patrick Mahomes
is on fire. He's playing at an elite level now
that he has all of his weapons around him. They're
playing at home against the Commanders. Marcus mary Yota is
(01:16:00):
the starting quarterback in this game. But I look at
what they've been able to achieve with the entire roster.
This is why it's important for them to win. Because
Denver wins. Yesterday, they moved to six and two the Chargers,
when the other night they're at five and three. And
now you gotta keep pace because right now they're sitting
(01:16:23):
as the third team in the AFC West, followed by
the Las Vegas Raiders. So this is a big time
matchup for the Kansas City Chiefs to continue their dominance.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
We'll get ready to night to see the ring around
the Rosie because Andy ree is going to break it
out all of the things that they do when they
start having fun and they have all their weapons, they
do a lot of movement.
Speaker 6 (01:16:49):
It's time and I'm looking forward to seeing way past
ten points.
Speaker 1 (01:16:56):
Yeah, so ten and a half points spread for them,
But it's difficult because you like what.
Speaker 6 (01:17:04):
Paul also want to call Paul Quinn.
Speaker 1 (01:17:06):
Dan Quinn does on the defensive side of the ball,
but it's hard to cover all those weapons. And it
looks like Travis Kelsey is having fun again too. So
for Mark Henry, for Marcus, I'm Harball Harts. Make sure
you're tuned in starting at eleven o'clock with the pressor
(01:17:26):
of Coach Sark, with myself, Cam Parker, and of course
the voice of the Texas Longhorns spread way and it
can all be heard right here on AM thirteen one
hundred of zone and always free on the iHeart Radio,
PAP and just remember this, Folks, don't believe everything you see,
because he even saw.
Speaker 6 (01:17:45):
Looks like ship.
Speaker 7 (01:17:46):
He's
