Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you for tuning in to the podcast of The
Morning Kickoff with myself, Mike Carbo Hartz and the world's
Strongest man in WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Guys, we really would like it if you would advertise
with us, because we only go as far as you
let us.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
That's right, Folks, tune in and make sure you tell
five friends to tell five friends. The Morning Kickoff seven
to nine am Monday through Friday right here on Sports
Radio and thirteen hundred The Zone. Good morning, Austin, k Town, Flugerville, Htown, Paarland,
Leander and Seals, Mid Texas or wherever you may be listening.

(00:38):
This is a turn up Tuesday edition of The Morning
Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. The
Internet almost broke yesterday. I'll tell you why. Coach Shark
let us know that all is well. Joe Cook of
Inside Texas joins us at seven forty to speak on
what we heard yesterday from Coach Sharks.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Availability.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Comedian Donald Rawlings joins us at eight seventeen as he
will be kicking it at the Mothership this week, so
we'll have that conversation. Brian Tobert will join us at
eight forty to let us know about Operation Turkey. You
mean Ashley Larry, right, Ashy Larry will be joining us

(01:22):
this morning.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Oh man. Yeah, it's gonna be a fun time.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
We always, and we got another comedian coming on this
week in studio. We'll let you know a little bit
about that as that time gets closer. But I am
your host, Mike Harball Hart. He is a WWE Hall
of Famer, Femur hall of and the world's strongest man.
He is Mark Henry And of course we got our

(01:47):
guy Khalil behind the boards. And as always, if you
want to be a part of the show, all you
got to do is texta word texas followed by your
message to eight one five three zero.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Standard data and message rates may apply.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
That's the word texas follow by your message to eight
one five three zero. Also make sure you have that
dot that iHeartRadio app and make sure you're ready because
we're gonna give you a chance to win some tickets
to go see guess who Sarah Silverman, another comedian. We
will have a lot of fun on that. We'll give

(02:20):
you that opportunity a little bit later, but I want
to get into this conversation It started with an Internet
rumor and yesterday's news and became fake news. Was that
a report came out yesterday that Quinn Yours was going
to opt out for the rest of the season and

(02:41):
prepare for the NFL Draft.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Now, it came.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
From a source that everybody looks at twenty four to
seven Sports, but it was quickly dispelled, like immediately dispelled
by Quinn Yours, who posted on his social media fake
news and basically through that rumor out the window. Now

(03:08):
all of this kind of started happening because yesterday we
have media availability. Coach Sark normally comes in and meets
with us. Yesterday Jared Elliott came in. Also, the volleyball
coach of the hottest volleyball team in the country right now,
they've won nine straight matches. Coach Shark comes in and

(03:28):
meets with us, and then the players wouldn't normally come
in and have conversations. Quinn's been there every week besides
this week now, might be getting treatment, might be watching film,
might have been told, Hey, we're gonna give you a
break where you don't have to answer those face the
media today. It all could be true. All things can

(03:50):
be true, right, but when that part of the news
got linked, twenty four to seven Sports came out and
said it was they got there might have been an
intern that had something up. Maybe somebody was just trying
to spoil the Internet. I don't know, but needless to say,

(04:11):
Quinn is here, Quinn is not going anywhere, and Quinn
is the starting quarterback at the University of Texas.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
And we'll get into all of that a little bit later.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
I can't even say what's wrong with people because I
already know what's wrong with people.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yes, yes, And the fact that people are hacking into
these types of things, quote unquote, and that you can
get hacked, yes, especially on especially on a huge website
like that. That's CBS. Yeah, that's CBS. And again we
have Eric Henry On from Oris twenty four to seven.
Every Thursday, he texts and said, don't believe the hype.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
It's not true. Got hacked.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I text Jeff Halle, I text Chick Brown yesterday and
they all said got hacked, got hacked, Like, that's not
a true statement because those are the guys that break
those kind of stories. You know what I'm saying, right,
So it was non non important, non factor. But we
will talk to Joe Cook of Inside Texas in just

(05:10):
at seven forty, so we'll have that conversation. We'll also
get into what we heard from coach Sark here in
just a moment. But Mark, last night we got to
see two people that I believe are worthy of MVP. Yeah,
Lamar Jackson, who has already won the MVP before multiple

(05:34):
times now is looking like the leader in the clubhouse
for the MVP.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
You know, the quarterback is always going to take president,
I know over the running back of the wide receiver.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
I remember Randy Moss was killing.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Randy Moss had like fourteen touchdowns or something in like
ten games and he didn't win the MVP that year.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Right, right, right, So also get over there in thirteen
hundred to zone on Twitter X whatever you want to
call it, and who is your MVP As of right now,
the options are Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff, or
Derrick Henry or you can write in who you think
it should be. But as of right now, if I

(06:20):
had to pick, I would go because I put money
on it.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
I put Dereck Henry out there.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Well, I thank you for the family, not of the name,
but Listen, I'm going with Lamar Jackson. He's not even
close to being done. I think he's starting to develop
a kinship with the wide receivers now. You know, usually
seven eight weeks, you know, that's when everybody starts to jail.

(06:51):
You know, through training camp and through the first five
to six games.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Man, Like they're rolling right now, hard, definitely rolling.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
But here's the thing, Like at the beginning of the season,
everybody was like, oh.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
It's not gonna work. They're not gonna be able to
get this thing turned around. Remember they lost two games. Yeah,
and then all of a sudden, everything hit row and
you have a running back like Derrick Henry that takes
so much pressure off of Lamar Jackson that he literally

(07:26):
can sit back and do whatever he wants. Last night,
he threw for two hundred and eighty one yards, but
he had five touchdown passes.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Yeah, one two Derrick Henry.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
But he got he got his guy Mark Andrews involved.
That was his two touchdown game. He had Rashat Bateman
catching a big play down the field. He's one of
the fastest dudes on the field. But Derrick Henry fifteen
carries one hundred and sixty nine yards.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Again and then Flowers didn't even get off.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yes, I mean the possibility is getting hurt, but he
ended up coming back into the game. But yes, it
is amazing when the confidence starts to build with this team.
This is also a team, and this was part of
the conversation that we had yesterday about Russell Wilson. Russell
Wilson doesn't have to do too much. Their defense is savages.

(08:21):
They fly to the football. Yes, they gave up thirty
one points, don't don't get it twisted, but they gave
up twenty. But they gave up twenty one in the
fourth quarter because the game was in tact for them, right,
and Baker Mayfield had to throw, but he lost. Baker Mayfield,
on the other hand, threw for three seventy two picks

(08:42):
three interceptions, but he lost two of his wide receivers
in the same game. One Mike Evans with a pull
hamstring and then Chris Godwin. It looks like a dislocated ankle.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
So I turned my head, yeah, because you know how,
you can see something happening. And the NFL has got
to do a better job of allowing these big ass
dudes to fall on top of you when they tackle you.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Well, not only that, it's that hip drop and all that.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Yeah, they gotta stop that. That's how we got hurt.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
And you gotta look to take care of each other
in this because you all try to make a business.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah. And the Cardinals end up beating the.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Chargers yesterday seventeen to fifteen, although Dicker the kicker have
five field goals helped me win my fantasy football team, thank.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
You, sir. But the Cardinals now are three and four.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Kyler Murray doing this thing, another long touchdown, James Connor.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Everybody's showing up. When we come back.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
We'll hear from coach Sark and a couple of the
players as Texas moves on to Vanderbilt right here on
the morning kickoff on sports Radio and thirteen.

give me a song.

Speaker 1 (10:12):

Yesterday there was a conversation with coach Sarky meets with
the media every Monday, and he got a chance to
address a lot of things, but his opening statement said
a lot.

Speaker 22 (18:40):
Alrighty, A couple of things to recap from this weekend.
I think, first of all, Longhorn Nation, what support we
got this weekend. It was incredible from from all day long,
from game day all the way through the final whistle.

Speaker 13 (18:53):
Can't thank y'all.

Speaker 22 (18:55):
You know, when you look at the game, there's a
there's a ton of things to look at in this
game that contributed to us not winning the football game.
I mean, you can really them converting those four turnovers
into seventeen points. You can look at us generating three
turnovers defensively, also only converting that into seven points. So

(19:17):
right away we're at a ten point deficit. Not to mention,
it's the number one stat in football, and winning and
losing is a turnover battle. I think four pre snap
penalties offensively, two substitution airrors defensively to where we had
to burn two timeouts in the first half, two holding
penalties on special teams. I think all those types of

(19:38):
things led to you look at the average drive start
in the first half. You know, Georgia's average drive starting
field position was the forty seven yard line, for their
nine possessions in the first half started in our end
of the field. Our average drive start position was a
twenty three yard line, and three of our first four
possessions started inside of our own thirteen yard line. So
it's a lot easier to score when you're closer the

(20:00):
end zone. And we had a long way to go,
they had a short way to go. I think that
that contributed quite a bit to that. I will say
in the second half, I was really proud of our players.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
I mean, think about that, think about what he just said. Yeah,
that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Yeah, I mean to be able to not have a
possession inside the fifty yard line and starting in your
own twenty three as an average, that's a big difference.
And when you have an easy and normally it's Texas Texas.
The last five games, Texas has basically been the flip

(20:41):
flop of that.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
So now when you get a little bit of your own.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Medicine, I think it's good That failure early is good.
You know, you learn way more from losing than you
do from winning. So getting that experience now and getting
that out of the way, I think is going to
well for them going into the end of the season
because now you know what it feels like. It's like,

(21:06):
you know, it was good for the goose, is good
for the gander. Texas has now received some of his
own medicine, and we got to learn how to flip that.
And that's that's that's the only thing it is.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
To it, you know.

Speaker 22 (21:20):
I will say in the second half, I was really
proud of our players. They played better football. We played hard,
we played with great effort. But the key to the
drill when you're playing in games with with quality people
on both on both teams, effort is one piece of
the ingredient. Execution is the other piece of the ingredient,

(21:40):
and we just did not have great execution Saturday night.
Most notably, we didn't have great execution at critical moments
when you start thinking about third down and fourth down.
I think we were two of fifteen on third down.
We were one of five on fourth down when when
our execution was was needed, you know, in the red zone. Defensively,
we've been so good defensively in the red area and

(22:02):
then they had a lot of opportunities, but three of
five for touchdowns in the red area when we needed
that execution, it just wasn't quite as good as we
needed it to be.

Speaker 13 (22:11):
So, you know, the turnovers definitely play a part.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
The cliches matter hard, Yeah, they do matter, and I
feel like that Texas they kind of they kind of
let the.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
Pressure get to them.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
So the term pressure bus pipes applies, They're gonna have
to definitely get better. Coach Shark was just saying that
they had a really hard time on third downs a
lot those are nerve plays too, So Temporaries.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Was three of ten for third down and fourth down
conversions three of ten, you were thirty percent, while Georgia
was seven of nine. Team that's the difference in the ballgame. Texas,
to your point, what's good for the goods is good
for the gander. Texas at one point was able to

(23:10):
convert on third down at a very high rate going
into that ball game.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
And people up grew to expect that.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
But that's the thing, like you, it's not always going
to come out in your favor, you know, even flipping
the field is not going to be on your favorite
all the time. So, uh, all of the people jumping
off of the bandwagon, jumping off of the hype train,
that all.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Of the people that are criticizing.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
CoA sark you can't go from Sarka is the best
thing since sliced bread one week to he don't know
what he's talking about the next that don't it don't
work like that. What they got is a good old
fashioned butt whooping. You take your lumps and then you
go to practice and you practice like a mad man.
You practice like I'm not even gonna play.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
In the game. I want to prove myself.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
All over again, and those are those are the things
I feel like is go understated. The one thing that
we haven't heard yet is about the penalties. There was
also some penalties that happened in Texas in the most
inopportune times. Like I mean, it's okay. I guess it's

(24:25):
not okay, but it's it's accepted to get a penalty. Well,
he said, not not on third down, not on second down.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
And you false start. Now you go from being.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Having five yards for the first down to having ten.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Yeah, there were eight.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
They had eight penalties for forty one yards Georgia as
seven for seventy eight. But coach Sark mentioned it. He
talked about we had those false starts and legal motions
at the very beginning. So there there's some things that
needed to be cleaned up.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
And to be quite honest with you, it wasn't a
clean game at all.

Speaker 13 (25:03):
A couple of things I think Quinn definitely can play better.

Speaker 22 (25:06):
We've got to continue to work his pocket presence and
making sure that he's capitalized capitalizing on the premier looks
when we get them. Why we're calling plays and we
get those shots to take them. But I also think
we need to play better around him. You know, our
offense isn't it about one player playing well. It's about
all eleven playing well. And I don't think we've been
at our best from a from a totality standpoint. So yes,

(25:29):
Quinn needs to needs to play better, and I believe
that he will. I thought he played a better second half. Again,
the game was a little bit out of whack, but
I think we need to be better around him as well.
Up front, the run game, receivers, creating separation, getting open.

Speaker 13 (25:42):
All that needs to needs to needs to improve.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
I know it's interesting too because he brought up the
Quinn quarterback situation. For those that are just tuning in,
there was a tweet that went out yesterday. I said
that Quinn was going to forego the rest of the
season and get into draft mode.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Not true at all. Quinn is back in the lab.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Getting the work that he needs to get done and
trying to grind this thing out. But the one thing
about Quinn and understanding the situation in which he played in,
this is where the competitiveness has to come out of you.
This is the moment where you take a step back
you go back and watch the film, because for a while,

(26:28):
even though he was making some mistakes, it was, you know,
rainbows and bubble gum.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Everybody was excited.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
You got all kinds of joy because you were winning.
And now those things finally caught up. The not recognizing
certain things during that time finally caught up, and now
he has to perform at a different level. And I'm
glad you said what you said, Mark, because I'm watching.

(26:58):
You know, obviously the internet is good and bad, and
so I'm on it and I do a lot of
for the research on the show. We have to, and
you you see certain things that happen in these conversations,
and it's like, man, I get it. There's some of
you that Quinn is not your flavor. But if there's

(27:19):
one person that can honestly sit here and tell you
about the quarterback position, it's coach Sark. And if coach
Sark believes in quinn yours, why don't you two things.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Body language. Quinn's body language has got to get better.
I think it was. I mean, you cannot drop your head.
And secondly, his teammates are gonna have to come up
and say pat him on the rear. End on the back,
tap the helmet, pull his face, masks up, get.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Your head up.

Speaker 23 (27:56):
Man.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Everybody make mistakes. It's a it's a commune, the thing
that gets you right.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
Agree.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
And I never thought that Quinn looked right after he
made a couple of bad throws.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
I didn't think Quinn looked right when he got his
head popped on the blitz from the corner. I think
he thought that he can coach. Start talked about it.
He said he thought that the end was picked up.
He didn't think about that guy coming off the corner.
I think he thought they had the right protection and
so he wasn't thinking about that.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
But he got smack.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
He got smack, smacked enough to get the football knocked
out of your hands. So that to me makes you
question certain things. And as far as the head going down,
now I understand it. It happens naturally. A lot of
times people walk around with their head down. But it
can't be consistent. It can't be consistent. But the thing

(28:47):
about Quinn is sometimes the defense is just better than
you that day. But Texas came back in the second
half and made it a ball game. It could have
been a runaway game.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
It could be a revenge to it too, like, Hey,
I want to get back to where I could play
them again.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
The only way that I.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Could do that is we went out exactly and I
believe that the team is prepared to do that, and
I believe that they're set up in the right position.
Coach Sark was continuing the conversation about Quinn, the expectations
and the confidence in him being the player.

Speaker 22 (29:24):
Well, I think it's him understanding that we have confidence
and belief in him. Again, we were very clear of
why we made that move at the end of the
second quarter of him kind of recalibrating, him getting refocused,
giving him a chance to get into the locker room
so that we could visit.

Speaker 13 (29:41):
And again, I thought it was.

Speaker 22 (29:42):
An effective move for him for us as a team.
But we got we got a ton of respect for Quinn,
a ton of confidence in Quinn. I think he's going
to come out and play really good football for us
here the second half.

Speaker 13 (29:53):
Of the season.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
And Coach Stark was asked too, does he think that
quinn injury did it have an impact with the way
that he was performing during that game, because a lot
of folks believe that he's still hurt they believe that
there's still something that's within him that might be holding
and restricting him back. So coach Sark was straight up

(30:17):
with it and basically told us, no, man, I think
dude is good.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
He's fine, He's gonna be okay, and.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Everybody's got a little something going on for the rest
of the season.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
You're gonna have something, and I'm nobody's healthy. Isn't nobody's health?

Speaker 2 (30:32):
My thing about pulling Quinn out, I don't think there
was nothing wrong with that, because as a as a coach,
you make a decision and you rest on it the administration.
You're gonna have to answer to your administration because at
some point they're going to say, well, why when it
was all going to hell in a handbasket, why didn't
you pull him and put Archie in. He had to

(30:56):
do what he had to do, and he made the
right decision. Whether arch was ready for that moment or not,
he had to go and do what he had to do.
It gave Quinn a time to calibrate, recalibrate, and to
come back in that game, and havn't it picked the
second half because he was able to stand back and

(31:16):
look at it.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Just necessary evil. Yeah, no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Coming up next though, we got our guy Joe Cook
of the Inside Texas.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
He'll break it.

(41:01):
Internet almost broke yesterday with the news that a certain
entity was hacked, and everyone thought that Quinn yours was
going to forego the rest of the season and enter
into the draft. Now you and I understood that that

(41:21):
was fake news and that's what it was gonna be,
but it was sparked a little bit more because he
was not at media availability yesterday. What did you take
from him not being at media availability yesterday?

Speaker 5 (41:36):
Uh, you know, I didn't take a whole lot from it,
to be honest.

Speaker 27 (41:40):
I know that usually they had the starting quarterback, but
it's not been a stone cold lock.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
You know, he is going to be their type thing,
the the internet thing.

Speaker 28 (41:50):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
You know, usually when big outlets.

Speaker 27 (41:52):
Have news like that, Uh, they're going to try to
post some attribution who of their you know, star reporters
got that info and they didn't do that. And I
know there are guys over at two four seven who
would they would plaster the.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
Name on there.

Speaker 5 (42:09):
For sure, it took me in it.

Speaker 27 (42:12):
I know there's also some of the national reporters who
have broken a lot of news on yours, and I
would have expected it to probably come from from them
if anything had happened. So all that's to say it
was too good to be true, too bad to be true.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
But yeah, I do wish we.

Speaker 5 (42:30):
Could have talked to yours yesterday. At least you did get.

Speaker 27 (42:33):
To catch him post game. One thing about Quinn is
you know he does tend to tend.

Speaker 5 (42:40):
To face the music. I guess we can't say.

Speaker 27 (42:41):
That about yesterday, but he's he's usually, you know, there
to talk about the good, the bad, ugly, about what
happened with them, So.

Speaker 5 (42:51):
Mild surprise not to get them, but not some.

Speaker 27 (42:54):
Ground shaking, earth moving deal like if yesterday's report was true, that.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Would have been Joe.

Speaker 2 (43:00):
How does somebody even get into a server like that
and put some negative input into the system.

Speaker 5 (43:10):
Somebody doesn't have.

Speaker 27 (43:11):
A very strong password, And I think that's a if
there is ever a moment for anybody in sports media
or who handles the social media accounts, whether for thirteen
hundred or for y'all turn on two factor authorization, make
sure you have to get a code texted to you
in order for them to be able to log in.

(43:31):
And I think that goes that not just for media
and brands, but for a lot of people. So you
keep your stuff so somebody I had heard that people
have done trying to do this to two four seven
in previous instances, so it's.

Speaker 5 (43:48):
I wonder what we don't know.

Speaker 3 (43:50):
So you can't put password as your password.

Speaker 5 (43:54):
I would recommend maybe adding one, two three.

Speaker 1 (43:56):
At the end mark, we're talking to Joe Cook of
Inside Texas. You can follow on Matt Joseph Cook eighty nine. Joe,
I wanted to get into the conversation about coach Stark
addressing the media yesterday. You got an opportunity to ask
a question as well. But you know, did it seem
like there was just a little bit of a different

(44:19):
energy during the Q and a part of media availability.

Speaker 27 (44:25):
Yeah, And I think that makes a lot of sense
since they're coming off the.

Speaker 5 (44:28):
First loss of the season, there was some energy, you know,
for all.

Speaker 27 (44:33):
The doom and gloom and or the mild amount of
doom and gloom or the disappointment that we, you know,
watching it may have and fans may have and that
type of thing, they don't have time to, you know,
sulk in that, or if they're doing their job, they
don't spend time sulking in that.

Speaker 5 (44:52):
They got a ranked opponent this week.

Speaker 27 (44:54):
As as surprising as that sounds, but I do think
there was a tone of where, you know, people people
are are genuinely curious about if quinn ewers Is is
good enough to play. And I say that not from
a skills standpoint, because we've.

Speaker 5 (45:08):
All seen when he's on.

Speaker 27 (45:09):
But if he is good enough physically in order to
deploy the type of game plans that sark once and
and I came out of Saturday thinking that that manning thing,
him getting in there playing for a couple series, that's
a one game thing.

Speaker 5 (45:26):
But at the same time, it's a one.

Speaker 27 (45:28):
Game thing until it's not, and then it takes a
life of its own. So I think sark is it
makes sense that fans and media are curious if that
was the case.

Speaker 5 (45:40):
But he gave answers.

Speaker 27 (45:41):
That, you know, probably to him think are obviously, yeah,
that win's our quarterback.

Speaker 5 (45:44):
Yeah we're gonna get back. Yeah we're gonna try.

Speaker 27 (45:47):
And for us it's you know, trying to figure out
the answer to make sure that's the case. But they
don't have time to sulk and and you know, feel
bad about themselves because they have to go on the
road and play a quarterback who can do some dangerous
things with football in his hand.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
So do you do you think quinn is Is is
still ding double?

Speaker 21 (46:09):
Yes?

Speaker 27 (46:09):
But I think you know, we all know after watching
sports y'all two played y'all too, you know, competed, Like
if you're on the battlefield, you're expected to be able
to execute. So I think that there's still something affecting him.
You know, there is, there's something affecting everybody. It's football,
but you know, the spotlight goes on him, and I

(46:31):
think that we have seen just you know, he looks
like the Quinn of two years ago, where he's like, oh,
I can arm everything. Maybe that's trying to, uh, trying
to make up for maybe some of the physical invitations that.

Speaker 5 (46:43):
He has right now.

Speaker 27 (46:44):
But he's out there, so he's got to be able
to do it.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
That's what it actually looked like to me that he
was on throwing a lot, not using his feet and driving,
and it left a bunch of balls short. It left
a bunch of balls with not a lot of velocity
on them. Hopefully he's better this week than he he
was the last two. Otherwise, like, I don't think that

(47:08):
there would be an issue with making a change, not
that you need to make a change because of ineptitude,
but just from health purposes.

Speaker 5 (47:19):
Yeah, and I don't I don't think it's like a risk.

Speaker 27 (47:21):
Of him being re injured or anything like that. And
to that point, I only saw it once. I don't
know if it happened multiple times. I saw Quinn go
into the tent at various points during the game or
just one point, So I don't know if it happened
multiple times, but that speaks to you know, they they're
they're actively working through.

Speaker 5 (47:40):
Through some of this stuff and trying to make sure
that he's good to go.

Speaker 27 (47:44):
But yeah, until it's a you can't get the job
done issue, Like fully, I think you know Sarka's gonna
stick with the guy who he's invested a lot of
time and money in, or maybe not money but time
in personal capital, emotional capital in and it's all so.

Speaker 5 (48:00):
It's you know, he's paid ten million dollars a year.

Speaker 27 (48:02):
To figure out these problems, Like it's this is the
this is the arena he placed himself in by recruiting
these guys, signing these guys, coaching these guys with a
team like this.

Speaker 1 (48:12):
Hey, as Mike Tomlin loves to say, that's why I'm
well compensated to make these decisions. So, hey, look, if
you're gonna believe in any coach at the calling their
quarterbacks out, I would believe in coach sark leading the
way until we don't believe in what he says. Joe,
as always, man, I want to thank you for joining us.

Speaker 3 (48:33):
And are you going? Are you going to Nashville?

Speaker 5 (48:37):
I'll be I'll be watching this one from home.

Speaker 5 (48:47):
Yeah, I'll have to come find you'll appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (48:49):
As always, my brother, I appreciate you. Thank you. There
he is Joe Cook of Inside Texas.

Speaker 1 (48:55):
Make sure you follow him at Joseph Cook eighty nine.
I mean, he touched on a lot of good things
right there as far as the quarterback position is concerned,
as far as what he's seen. And again, you know,
when you're in the press box and you're paying attention
to everything on the sideline, you see things that maybe
the TV doesn't show you all the time. When we

(49:18):
come back, we're going to continue the conversations.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
Did y'all know that the NBA season starts.

Speaker 1 (55:23):
Great stuff from my man Joe Cook him inside Texas.
Make sure you follow Matt Joseph Cook at eighty nine.
But the story of today is guess what, folks, The
NBA tips off tonight. I completely have not been following
any of the preseason games, well a little bit of it,

(55:43):
but nothing like tonight. Tonight you have Eastern Conference fols,
the New York Knicks traveling to the world champion Boston
Celtics to tip off the NBA season, followed by followed
by the Minnesota Timberwolves taking on the Los Angeles Lakers.

(56:08):
This will be the debut of Bronnie James. This is
an interesting conversation as well because the last father and
son to play on the same field court whatever.

Speaker 3 (56:24):
Keing Griffrey Jr. And Ken Griffy Senior.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
And tonight we will witness history as Lebron James and
Bronnie James will be on the court together.

Speaker 3 (56:37):
How crazy is that?

Speaker 2 (56:38):
That's nuts, man, I mean, he's been talking about it forever.
He talked about it forever. He's actually done with it now. Yeah,
like you hear Lebron talk and he's like, look, man,
we did it. They're on the same team. It's over with.
We can say we did it and now let's move on.
But the experiment is not over because he's on the

(56:59):
rock now. So he's gonna have to go out there
and step his play up.

Speaker 3 (57:04):
He did the other day.

Speaker 2 (57:06):
He came out had sixteen points, but that's that's one
game out of the six games in the preseason that
he played in.

Speaker 3 (57:18):
He collectively in the game.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
The five games before he had six points, six points
hard in five games, and he shot the ball a beautiful,
a wonderful seventeen percent from the field, which is not good.

(57:40):
And my wife asked me the other day, she was like,
is he good enough to be in the NBA on
a start?

Speaker 3 (57:47):
And I said, no, like, I don't think.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
I think Bronnie should be the rest of the year
on the G League team and that they should elevate
somebody that's an actual bonus. But you cannot not have
him have that moment with Lebron, Like, give him the moment,
and I think they'll get that the night, and then

(58:11):
once it's overweight, it's overwhel.

Speaker 1 (58:14):
Yeah, he's not good enough to be there, but he's taking.

Speaker 2 (58:20):
Up a spot from somebody that is good enough.

Speaker 1 (58:22):
I mean, but it's preseason. There's nothing going on. I
mean not preseason. This is the beginning of the regular season.
G League hadn't started yet. So once the G League starts,
I think we'll see the transfer it, especially if they
want him to get better.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
That's the thing.

Speaker 25 (58:38):
Right, he.

Speaker 1 (58:41):
Can practice with the Lakers and then go over to
the other team when they.

Speaker 3 (58:46):
Get ready to play.

Speaker 1 (58:47):
But I just look, I have no words, to be
quite honest with you, but I do wish because.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
You don't want to or you don't want to say
be negative. I don't want to be negative. Okay, here's
the real I'm really proud that it is. Being right.
I'm just saying I'm proud that it can happen.

Speaker 1 (59:09):
I love for me to be able to play with
my son at a at an elite level.

Speaker 2 (59:14):
That's that's exactly how I feel. That's what I just said.

Speaker 3 (59:17):
That's that I'm a realist.

Speaker 1 (59:19):
Yeah, thank you, and that's where the experiment is over. Yeah,
thank you for having fun in preseason because you had
one game you scored seventeen points and now.

Speaker 3 (59:28):
It's like, okay, good, but that don't mean but I
am happy for them as a family. That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
That is awesome, and the Griffies will be attending the
game tonight as well, so it's that that makes me happy.
Coming up next hour number two of the Morning Kickoff,
we will have comedian Donald Rollins joining us at eight seventeen.
