Speaker 4 (02:12):
The fourth pick in the NBA draft.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Goes to.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
The Charlotte Hornets, picking third will be the Philadelphia seventy sixties.
The second pick will be made by the San Antonio Spurs,
and that means that the number one pick in the

(02:39):
twenty twenty five NBA Draft goes to the Dallas Mavericks.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Alanda Blackman, All Smiles, four time All Stars celebrating the
Dallas Mavericks had a one point eight percent chance to
win the number one pick overall in next month Straft.
They had never won the lottery again. They had the
chance to get in the top four eight and a

(03:07):
half percent less than two percent to win the number
one picking, and.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
They have it.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
And all the conspiracies have now started. Yesterday, our man
Marcus told us before the show was over, we talked
about the NBA lottery, and he said, let the conspiracies begin.
And it's interesting that the conspiracies have started. Let me
guess Nico makes the trade for Luka Dancis to go

(03:41):
to La.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
People lose their mind.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
They're angry, angry at the fact that they have lost.
They're all their hope, you know what I mean. And
now not only does Dallas have the number one overall
pick in the NBA, Let's not forget that Dallas just
had the number one overall pick in the w NBA.

(04:10):
They got a trade for George Pickens in the NFL.
And oh yeah, the Dallas Stars are playing to get
to Lord Stanley's Cup. The conspiracies are running wild all

(04:31):
over the place. But to me, and just to me,
it just seems poetic justice.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
If you get over to my.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Hard ballpage, go to at hardball Hearts, you will see
that before the draft, I pended at the top that
I firmly believed that Dallas was going to get the
number one overall pick. Thirteen hours ago, I said, let's

(05:06):
go MAVs. MAVs for life and Muila the MAVs. Nico Harrison,
you slide, devil.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
You you figured it out. You might have sold your soul.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
But I guess what a lot of folks in Dallas
are excited about the pit Mark.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
How do you.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Feel about the conspiracy theory? It was fixed, it was ringed.
We've been hoodwinked. Bam boozol.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
I love it. I just I love it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I love every bit of this. The more drama the better. Actually,
I mean it's better for us as radio hosts. It's
better for the league as far as keeping eyes on
the league. Even when the season is over with, the
playoffs are over with, people will still be talking about
the NBA.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
You're welcome, That's what David not.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
David Silver, Adam Silver, Adam Silver, As I said, you
now have Paige Beckers, who I've said all all along,
one of the best players in the in the w
n B A now, but she was one of the
best players in college.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Now you have.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
The man, the mint, the legend, Cooper Flag sitting in
the pole position. You made the trade for George Pickens,
Dallas Stars trying to get to Lord Stanley.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
And here they are.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
It's great to be a Dallas fan right now until
their actual season.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Star. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
You locked it up, but you locked it and then
you just hit it on your own.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I was I was hitting fungo. I was in fungo.
You know what you did?

Speaker 1 (07:02):
The Peanuts King, Yah, gotta go got him. So you
just sit here and you look at it and you
you you look at this draft process and what it
all entails. So all the mocks, I mean, the final
draft order of the top fourteen picks, Dallas Mavericks, San

(07:25):
Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia seventy six Ers, Charlotte Hornets, Utah Jazz,
Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Fly Pelicans, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors,
Houston Rockets, Portland Trailblazers, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, and the

(07:49):
San Antonio Spurs once again have two picks in the
top fifteen. So there should be some movement all the
way around.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
You know that somebody is gonna say, hey, listen, s Antonio,
we got this guy and we want your first two
picks and give me a player.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Just throw somebody in there. Mm hmm. And that guy
right there and I will we'll, we'll make this happen.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
And and there's there's some teams.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
That I feel like, you know, how about New Orleans,
Zione Williamson, how about uh oh, Jolian Bid Okay, I'm
throwing from a money standpoint, I'm throwing this at you.
Then Joannis Aunt he would be Jannis would be the

(08:44):
only one because the two that you just mentioned.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
For sure, as my boy loves to say, they got
bad tissue, tissue that if GM were to try to
go and get one of those people, Zion Williamson and
Joe LMB, there's a lot of money go with it too.

(09:11):
Fire them, Fire them because you're not serious about your
your what Kevin Durant, Like Kevin Durant, those are guys
that can go and play. Devin Booker, you got you
got real pieces, You got real pieces. I was talking
to a buddy this past weekend up in Dallas, and

(09:33):
he is a LA Lakers fan like yourself. And I
kept saying, who do you believe that the Lakers can
go and get in this situation? This is long before
this this draft deal. And he was going through these
names and I'm like, nope, nope, nope. One name that
he did say is uh Andre Ayton, the big fellow.

(09:55):
He's a guy that would go to LA and play
his role properly. Now you're looking at Dallas. Dallas has
the number. People are like, he'll trade the pick.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
He will not trade.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
You don't trade the number one generational talent pick.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
He already did it. He ain't doing that again. He's
got death threats. He's not doing that again. The reaction
in that room, the reaction the second pick. That's the
Mavericks room. That's the Mavericks front office right there. They

(10:37):
know what they have now. They can't. They can't.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
You can't do it twice. If you do, I can't
defend you, Nico. I can't. We're not gonna say what
the Craft say. You know what's gonna happen if they
do it again. They're gonna play the Undertaker music, dumb

(11:02):
thumb thumb for sure.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Nico gonna get death threats? Is a threat? Is not
weird about you? Don't worry about the threat.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Nico is sitting there right now, walking around taking his
bulletproof vests off, like fifty cent. Yeah, when he walked
through there, he said, I thought people have beef with
me walking through the city. Now they got a trophy
case set up for Dco. Nico, you slide, DEVILU. You
just knew all the try to see Jerry now you're
still Jacky.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
We're back, We're back.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
We're just getting started here on the Morning Kickoff. There
was some basketball that was actually played yesterday and some
bad news if you're a Boston fan coming up next
right here on a turn up Tuesday edition of The
Morning Kickoff right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred doze.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Coming up in the.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Next segment, we've got our guy Joe Cook.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Of Inside Texas.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
There was some information that was released yesterday about a
football game that the Texas Longhorns will be playing. We'll
talk to Joe about that and ask his thoughts about
the summer.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
I want to get into.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
This conversation because the NBA continues to be fantastic. The
games last night were a matchup for the Ages, but
of course, the one and only Jalen Brunson continues to
put it on the Boston Celtics with that Runton.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
Prit Parter trunk which harder pove. He's sizing up because
the Celtics are going there.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Double the big.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
Runton looking Aliothor Robinson, perfect protection there. On the next
tap on, Brunson gets past Corford, goes inside lamps. Not
a slick vote from Jaylin Brunson. A good defense from White,
but Brunson, still looking falling Away puts it up. That's

(13:08):
card Kaylon. Brunson does it again. It's a two point game.
Time out. Boston drives into the paint, pulls back, looks
up of the shot clock. He's got to get it all.
Falling Away puts it up, puts it in a Brunson barrage.
Here in the third quarter of the game is time.
Bruns it against White hesitation, flips it up in a

(13:29):
left hand bagshots cards thirty three for Jalen Brunson. Brunson
looking step back, three punters.

Speaker 7 (13:38):
It's god rutting around its rough.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
Through Jalen Brunson in the third quarter had eighteen points,
three rebounds, three assist and two to three pointers made.
He is he got voted mister Clutch for for him.
He is definitely that guy. And I know a lot
of people give him a lot of because he falls
on the ground a lot and it's, you know, the

(14:04):
little guy on the court. I guess you would say.
But as we talked about before, you could be anywhere
in the world and not realize that Jalen Brunson is
one of the coldest closers in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
You know who Jalen Bronson is. He's Isaiah Thomas all
over again. He gets a shot when he want it.
He facilitates the others. But when the clock starts ticking
like ten nine eight, give the ball to Jalen yep,
and he gets it on the glass or he just

(14:40):
I don't know how, he just throws the ball at
the rim.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
And it goes in.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Yeah, he finds a way. He's unorthodox. He gets to
the rim. He can get his shot to any spot.
To your point, you know, he used to play for Dallas. Yeah,
he's another one of those Dallas mavericks that allot of faith. Well,
the thing about it was they weren't gonna resign him anyway.
So it it's great for Jalen Bronson because, as we've
talked about, him and Luca.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Were oil and water.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
They weren't gonna be able to hold it down together
because Luca is bald dominant. As you can see, Jalen
Brunson is ball dominant, and he continues to make plays.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
But it did not go without an injury on the court.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
And again Jason Tatum, who was having an unbelievable game
that was actually giving his team a chance, had an
unfortunate play.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Jaylen brown Back had lost the ball, hadn't if he
call high himself.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
Bruns it down and Tittum is hurt, cared of is down.
He wants a time out. Tredum is so much pain
and a Selfics call time out, grabbing that right ankle,
and that's the final time out for the boss of Celtics.

(15:59):
Beform pointly, Tatum really shake it up that last week sequence,
turning the ankle and you see the concern and I'll
horford him the Celtic spaces.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
He called a time out there himself.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
He was calling the time out forty two points for
Tatum tonight, but right now in a great deal of pain.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
You know when you say help, you physically fix your
mouth to say the words help means you in pain.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
I know. I laughed, I'm sorry, like what you myself.
He was on the floor going help help, and I went, oh, man.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
That that I thought he twisted his ankle and I'm
giving him to get up and walk it off.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
I didn't think about it being achilles.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Yeah, And you know, from all looks of it and
other people that have seen it, doctors that have commented
on it, it is believed that he might have torn
his achilles. They said that they went into the the
Celtics locker room after the game. Brian Winhorse said it
was the quietest locker room that they had ever heard

(17:20):
because they knew that the injury was just that it
was one that he's not coming back from it.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Their their title chances have now diminished.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
And this is another team in the East that we
thought was going to bring a lot of excitement.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
That was my pick.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Boston was my pick to get back to the championship,
and now they are in a position of disbelief.

Speaker 6 (17:51):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
They're down three to one. Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
The The news is they've played without Jason Tatum before
and they've gone eight two, But that doesn't mean anything.
Wasn't in the playoffs exactly, and it wasn't while you're
down three games to one against a team that somehow,
some way finds a way to get it done with
Jalen Brunson og OPTINOBLEI your boy Carl Anthony towns.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Hey with a broken finger right touching it out.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah, hooping. So this is not a good look for
the New York Knicks, you know, for the Boston Celtics.
For the Boston Celtics, it looks bleak. But before the
season started, I thought, in my heart of hearts and
I told you this. We can go back and check
the tape that I thought the Knicks were gonna be

(18:45):
a heavy duty contender in the East. The moves that
they made, like with Brooklyn was awesome.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Everything everything they did has worked and it's shown and
it's come to fruition now that all those moves except
for one getting rid of hardstand was not good. They
needed him to play center and forward to help. He
would have been great with car Anthony town YEP twenty three.

(19:19):
Robinson Mitchell Robinson. The first course of action.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Should be get rid of him. Got rid of him,
not rid of them. You always try to get rid
of everybody. I am. Yeah, if you don't, if you're
not functional, like he can go and learn the Rick
Berry free throw shooting. He can do. Granny Man throw
my headphones that year. Will Chamberlain can do it, Rick

(19:44):
Barry can do it. You can do it too.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
It's not even the free throws. It's definitely the free throws.
The free throws are factor.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Yeah. He plays a very lackadaisical, lazy game.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
To me, well, you better turn it up because they're
gonna get an opportunity to.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Play at the next level.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
As you start to look at what's going on in
the Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers, which we'll talk about
a little bit later, they are sixty four and eighteen
on the regular season. The Boston Celtics won sixty games,
and neither one of those teams look to be good
and ready to play in the Eastern Conference Final.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
But the other game Golden State and.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Minnesota, and ant Man continues to do ant Man things.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Joe Deminga sixteen points, is eight andfl lone two seconds
left Edwards.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Come three, and Anthony Edwards beached up Cuzzer with a triple.
He had two defenders on him from about thirty feet
away and still.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Put it in the bottom of the net. Anthony Edwards continues.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
To play in an elite level, had thirty points last night,
going six of eleven from three point land. I still
wish that he would attack the rim a little bit more.
The other part of this is Julius Randall has now
stepped up and become that dude. He's mentioned in his
postgame commentary that Kobe Bryant was a big mentor of

(21:12):
his and the fact that he has continued continued to
push him mentally. And what I mean by that is
his mental mentality has come from the words of Kobe Bryant.
That has always always been a key to his life
and to his success. So shout out to Julius Randall

(21:34):
becoming that guy, being the person that he is and
continuing to get better and better and realize it. Ant
man is the guy. But every guy needs a complimary
peace with them. Coming up next, we'll continue the conversations
about Texas football, as our guy, Joe Cook of Inside

(21:56):
Texas tells us what to expect next season here on
Good Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
It's Tuesday, So what better way to start your.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Week off than getting the inside track on all things
Texas athletics by going inside Texas with our guy Joe Cook.
You can follow them on social media at Joseph Cook
eighty nine and Joe. Yesterday, there were some news that
came out about the highly anticipated Texas versus Ohio State game,

(22:30):
and now we know exactly where it's going to be.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Yeah, it should be fun Fox Games, so it means
we get Gus and Joel and Jenny and that presentation.
One thing that did not come out in that announcement
was the exact start time. But let me tell you
what else is going on on Fox that day about
seven pm. You got the Orioles and Giants, you got
the Tigers.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
And Royals, and you get the Mariners and Guardians.

Speaker 6 (22:56):
So any hope that that was going to be a
night game went out the door pretty quickly when Fox
picked it up.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
They'll throw that at eleven am.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
I think that'll be for any Texas fans going up
there should be good news because they have some harrowing
stories about two thousand and five and the trip to
the Horseshoe at night. Ohio State fans hate it. They're
tired of playing at Big Noon, but well that's what
you're a conference CD deal, that's who they signed up with,
and they've been doing the Big Noon for a few

(23:25):
years now, so should have expected it.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Even if you don't like it.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
I'm glad that it is happening as well, because, just
like you said, that trip to Ohio State was never
fun for any of those Texas fans that made that trip.
I remember our good friend Sean Adams and Jeff Ketchum
had a conversation about the worst time in their lives
just trying to get a ride out of the stadium.

(23:50):
So I definitely understand where you're coming from with that concept.
But also this comes on the heels of us being
told that Texas A and M game will be sixty
kickoff that Friday, Black Friday, right after Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
I remember last year at SEC spring meetings down in Destin, Uh,
you know, Chris Doconte was asked his opinion. Trev Alberts
has had asked his opinion, and Trev Alberts has said
he doesn't really want.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
It on Thursday. Conte prefers it on Thursday.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
But I think, you know, whether it be del Conte
or somebody else within the powers that be kind of
understand that the the NFL runs Thursday. Now, the Lions
are good, they're worth watching the Cowboys or the Cowboys,
and then instead of an NFL network game, you got
another National TV game. So in an era where television

(24:43):
eyeballs are being talked about as something that could determine
something related to the playoffs, well, if you're going to
play a rivalry game, you want to make sure you
get the most eyeballs, and Black Friday is a way
to do that. I think, you know, the NFL only
has a streaming game that day, which still, despite his popularity,
has some limited access. Going to be on national TV

(25:06):
at night should be a little bit of a standalone
treatment for Texas and Texas.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
A and m Joe.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
I'm I'm very familiar with Columbus, Ohio. UH won the
World championship there. I've defended a World championship in wrestling there,
and I find it to be very expensive. Have they
come out with how much the tickets will be for
the Texas. You know, we travel, the University of Texas

(25:33):
fan base travels.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
How much is it going to cost to go to
that game? Man, I'm not sure I know that.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
You know, with if you're a Longhorn season ticket holder
and you're a donor, then you got to be at
a pretty high donation level to even have access to
those premium.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Road game tickets like A and M like Michigan last year.

Speaker 6 (25:56):
But just doing a casual search, it looks like the
getting the door for Oh Boy, about four hundred and.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Sixty five bucks for bad tickets.

Speaker 6 (26:05):
So I mean, yeah, it's up there, and that's a
stadium that holds about one hundred two thousand, so it's.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Not like they're running low on room up there.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
But I don't know why it's so expensive there, Like,
it's not like a metropolis of any sort.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
It's just a town. It's big, it's just a town.

Speaker 6 (26:26):
Ohio State's one of those teams where it's it's I
guess it's sort of like Texas and that. You know,
there are a lot of people who didn't go to school,
may not have gone to college or went to another school,
but choose Ohio State. I have a friend who went
to Ohio University and he's a big Ohio State fan.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
So I think they have a lot that.

Speaker 6 (26:45):
It's just a fan base that because of, you know,
its proximity to a lot of different fan bases or possible.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Fan bases of small schools.

Speaker 6 (26:55):
Plus they've been good for about the last eighty years,
so that kind of helps games, gets people wanting to
be wanting to be involved with buck guys, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
We're talking to Joe Cook of Inside Texas. You can
follow him at Joseph Cook eighty nine. And Joe, you
know as well as I do that the anticipation of
the football season is just that everybody's excited about it.
This is the year that Texas is going to win
a national championship. Arch Manning is going to be the

(27:26):
number one draft pick and so on and so on.
But as a Texas insider and somebody that follows the program,
you know as well as I do that there's steps
to this and coach Sark is being well, how would
you say it, He's being very careful with the expectations

(27:47):
of this football team. He's not running from the expectations,
but he's looking at it and tempering it because you're
in and you're out. Texas has had to replace a
lot of great players.

Speaker 6 (27:59):
Yeah, I think he always tries to keep the goal
the same, So it doesn't sound like, you know, one
year is better than the other. At least now that
this that this is the way his program is operating.
You know, I think in that second year when they
went eight and five, he talked a lot about competing
for championships, and you know, I don't think his messaging

(28:21):
has changed all that much. Just you know, the championships
he's now talking about are a little bit different. But
you know, now at this point, he doesn't really seem
to put more emphasis on one certain game, one certain championship.
Tries to keep the same goals year over year, same
lofty goals year over year. And I think he understands that, Hey,

(28:42):
you know, there there's imperfection in college football these to days.
The days of the super team are gone. Even Ohio
State had its flaws last year.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
But that means that you know, if you.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
Have enough good, you know, you can still have more
good and great than other teams and that can help
you get all the way. So I think he feels
pretty confident. There's still some things to figure out, of course,
but you've heard him be pretty consistent in how he
talks about this team, and I think he wouldn't keep
doing that unless he thought there was a good.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Reason to jo I told you, I'm familiar with Ohio
State as well as Columbus, Ohio. If we're able to
get there, there's a lot of good food hunts.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
I know where. You know, I'm always going to bring
it back. The food. I know the spots. I'll have
to hit you up for it.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
Somebody said, I mean it's it's a growing city.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
We'll see what it's like.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
But yeah, when you got a fifty thousands student university there,
I'm going to be looking for the stuff that I
know students are looking to eat, and you know that
can be some weird portions, good stuff and something fun.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
They're in Columbus. Yeah, we have Bluebell. We have Bluebell.
They have Jenny so good Man. I got the whole list.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Whatever you need, whatever you need, Pizza, State Burgers. We're good,
We're good. It'll be my first call, all right.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Joe, tomorrow, we're gonna end up moving up. Coach Slasnagel,
he was gonna come on the Wednesday with us because
they play on Thursday. What's your biggest takeaway from this
Texas baseball team. I know you're not covering the team
as much, but you are a baseball fan.

Speaker 6 (30:30):
Yeah, this is Uh, this is the time where Jim
Schlasnagles got to do his best coaching.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
You know, you're missing your Friday starter, You're missing you know,
you're all American player. A lot of guys are banged up.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
You're searching for, you know, contributions from guys who maybe
at the beginning of the year if you weren't looking
for you know, maybe six innings on a Saturday or
three innings on a on a Sunday. So this is
where Jim Slasnagels really got to do his best work.
Mix and match, especially as they head to Oklahoma with
a chance to win the regular season. They want to

(31:04):
be going in the postseason strong because of the way
the SEC tournament's built.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
You know, you you're in a double buy, You're you're
in a really good uh, You're you're in a really
good position.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
It's like that in any sport, but especially in baseball
when you don't have to tax arms, uh to get there.
So uh just you know, I think getting through this
weekend with by you know, taking care of business on
your own, not trying.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
To rely on like Arkansas or uh, you know LSU
or Auburn to you know Falter.

Speaker 6 (31:35):
So you win that title, I think you go take
care of business and then you try to get into
Hoover feeling really good about what you might be able
to do in the the second put in the start
of the postseason.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Yeah and ik wait we'll find out more tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Max Blue may be making a soft return this weekend
heading in to the SEC tournament. As always, make sure
you get over the inside Texas and of course follow
my guy at Joseph Cook eighty nine on social Thanks.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Joe, Thank you, guys, appreciate it. As always.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Coming up next we're gonna continue the conversation. A legend
will be a contributor. And I think you know what
I'm talking about. Right here on the morning kickoff on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone, I'll hear that music.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
You know what that means means.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Now's your time to get an opportunity to win a
pair of tickets to go see Alice Cooper and Judas
Priest October to twenty fifth at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
All you got to do is get over.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
To that iHeartRadio at you know, the new and improved
on where you have us number one on your preset
and where you go over to find our podcast.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
So all of the podcast page.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
All you got to do is search for AM thirteen
hundred the zone, tap that red microphone and leave the
keyword metal, Metal is your key word of the day
for a chance to win a pair of tickets to
see Alice Cooper and Judas Priest October the twenty fifth.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
There it is no more than mister nice guy.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
And speaking of no more mister nice guy, the NBA.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Had some breaking news yesterday.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Michael Jeffrey Jordan will be joining the NBA on NBC
and Peacock as a special contributor.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
The network has announced that means that Chuck and.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Shaq will no longer be the only ones commentating and
being real frank about what they see on the TV
with these latest basketball players. Michael Jordan will be working
with NBC and Peacock as a special contributor for its
NBA coverage. Michael Jordan has always done a great job

(34:02):
on NBC but the one thing that we do understand
is that Michael Jeffery Jordan is not always great when
it comes to figuring out personnel decisions. He's very critical
of a lot of people and a lot of players.
But I think it's gonna be exciting to see that
he will be contributing and breaking down some of these

(34:25):
basketball moves.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Mark.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah, man, I'm excited about the future of what's going on.
And we gotta we gotta always like take advantage of
the fact that when we get these gifts for sports,
because you know, like the draft is always special to me,
NFL and the NBA.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
I'm not a big.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Hockey fan, but you know, like the guys that are that,
I know they value the days that become draft days.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yeah, So for me looking at Michael Jeffrey Jordan talking
about the game, the NBA has.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
I didn't know Michael could really talk like that, though, Well,
we're about to find out. We're about to find out
he is.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
The NBA hasn't aired on NBC since two thousand and two,
and he will be doing this the twenty five twenty
sixth season because I guess all the games are now
being moved over to NBC. They're taking up a lot
of that time that was on TNT because obviously TNT

(35:36):
is moving to ESPN, so there might be some most.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
So that's how you gonna play. You're gonna do this, okay,
f That's all I needed. That's all I needed for
him to do that, and it became personal with me.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Well, I don't know if it's gonna be like the
content that they did in the in the documentaries, but
I can see him sitting in like a lounge type environment, uh,
basically comment on the sports and letting somebody else do
the analysis.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Yeah, it's still good to see that he wants to
be involved in it, you know what, you know, it's
good to see that he wants to take the time
to give his thoughts on games, the analysis of the.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Game, what he sees.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Maybe they can ask him who you feel is the
face of the NBA And is he gonna talk about
his son.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Anthony Edwards or is he gonna talk about for rumors
for rumors?

Speaker 1 (36:41):
But you know, you you you start looking at these
types of moments and the personalities.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Is he a funny guy?

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Well, when he was giving his Hall of Fame speech,
he was taking people out he was out there assassinating
their character. So I'm curious to what he's going to
do during this time.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
I think that it'll be very well produced, because you
wouldn't have a Michael Jeffrey Jordan in.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Front of the masses and him being thrown out to
the wolves.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
You know they're gonna be look in his ear, Michael
say this, Michael say that, make it, George say it
the way you was saying.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Michael gonna be like, Man, I ain't coming here for that,
let me over here for that.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
That's not what I'm You think he'll do like Mike
Tyson and.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
Make up words.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Well, I don't think he is that level. I think
the way that he goes about life is the way
that it's supposed to be.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Man, I think that was super califragul xpalitos.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
Well, if he does that, then he will be a
meme again talking crazy in these certain situations.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
So you mean, you never know, you never know what
I'm say.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
I'm anxious to see it though that that actually gives
a little bit of excitement, give some even still what's
going on.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
So yeah, but I mean I think people are gonna
be excited just to see Michael anyway, man, he is MJ.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
You think he's gonna have his special guests steven A
Smith on with him maybe now and then just.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
To w I don't know, I think it's gonna I mean,
here's he's gonna be on NBC, stephen A's on the ESPN.
So I don't know how that's gonna work exactly. What
about a mom Sean bringing him back?

Speaker 3 (38:25):
That's the real one. That's just inside the NBA.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
They're gonna try to figure that out as well. So
our number one is in the books. Our number two
is just around the corner. We will talk in fl
and do the Browns have a problem? And of course
we got the world's strongest take right here on the
morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

(38:50):
Our number two of the morning kickoff right here on
Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Mike Harball harts
world's strongest man, WWE Hall of Famer, d Mark Henry,
of course Marcus holding it down in.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Our number one, the city of Dallas is lit?

Speaker 1 (39:06):
And did Nico sell his soul as the Dallas Mavericks
who had a one point eight percent chance of winning
the NBA lottery.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
Well they got it. Now Dallas is on to come
up again.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
We talked the Knicks as they win one twenty one
to one thirteen. They take a three to one lead
as Jalen Brunson handling his business.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
But the news out of that ball game is Jason.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Tatum's injury and all signs point two an achilles injury.
And of course Minnesota defeats Golden State. They take a
three to one series lead, one seventeen to one ten.
Anthony Edwards and Julius Randalls played their behinds off to
get that lead. And we got a chance to talk

(39:56):
to Joe Cook of Inside Texas as Texas and Ohio
looks to be an eleven am kickoff, And I got
a text from somebody that said that they were at
the game in two thousand and five and said it
was the worst time of their lives. But right now,
I want to get into the NFL. The schedule release

(40:16):
is scheduled for tomorrow, but they've been releasing little signs
of it every single day, and I want to get
into some of these international games.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
Mark, we found out that.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
The Cowboys and the Eagles will be opening the season off,
so September the fourth, as the Cowboys and the Eagles
will face off, and it is a big time matchup
because of the fact that they'll be getting their banner
raised and I believe their rings as well. But here
are some of the international games that will take place.

(40:52):
The Chargers and the Chiefs will play Week one in Brazil. Brazil,
we'll have the Chargers and the Chiefs. Week four, they're
in Ireland. It will be the Steelers taking on the
Minnesota Vikings. In week five, the Browns and the Vikings

(41:16):
will play in London. In week six in London, the
Jets and the Broncos will be playing. Week seven in London,
the Jaguars and the Rams will be playing. Week ten,
the Coats and the Falcons will be playing in Germany,

(41:38):
and week eleven in Spain, the Dolphins and the Commanders
will be playing internationally. Now, I'm all for trying to
grow the game, so to speak, but when is the
last time we've had Brazilians, Ireland's, London's, English, Germans and

(42:00):
Spain on. I don't even know if they even play
football over there. I know they're trying to get that,
I know that they do. It's just not good and
it's rugby almost like like some of these players in.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
American football too, especially in Remstein Frankfurt. Uh, they used
to have a team called the Galaxy. Uh, the German
German League is football is.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
Like well, I know that they used to have that
European League because we had a lot of guys from
University of Texas go over there and play. I do
Norm went over there, James Brown went over there. I mean,
there was a lot of guys that went over there.
But it's not like a league league like not good right,
That's what I'm like, You go, that's that's like football Siberia.

Speaker 3 (42:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
Yeah, take the money, go play and then as soon
as that season is overcome home, like just goodbye. But Jacksonville,
I knew what was going to play in. They stay
London because Tony Kahan owns the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also

(43:09):
owns two premier teams in soccer, so they play in
the They have a stadium already, so there's a large
fan base that you know, people come to the game
and there'll be ten thousand different jerseys, like you know,
that'd be a collection of cowboy fans, a collection of

(43:32):
stealer fans. You know, but I think now if you're
able to send multiple teams over there, and it's not
just Jacksonville versus somebody, now you have all these other teams.
Now maybe teams cities can be like you know what,
I'm a we're Dallas Cowboy people.

Speaker 3 (43:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (43:54):
Personally, I've always felt that's the reason why they added
the seventeenth game, because you know, you got an uneven schedule,
so you can chunk a game in Spain or Mexico
every year and it kind of evens at our Plus
you could check, like analytics wise of which team is
being followed the most in Germany, so you could hey, Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
Of Mexico City, Well, Brazil, that's a long trip to
go play football.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
You know.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
Next thing, you know, they want to play in Australia.
I can see that happening also. But my question is ridiculous.
My question is why why?

Speaker 3 (44:33):
Exactly?

Speaker 1 (44:34):
Because these players, I mean, we agree, yes, invisible high fives.
Because these players, they're the ones that are having to travel.

Speaker 3 (44:44):
If you haven't been on a plane for nineteen hours again,
try to come back and play a game, play a
football game. Man, I did it.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
If you wanted to, If you want to do something
like that, Why don't you do what Major League Baseball
does and go and make a barnstorming trip. Why don't
you take guys during the offseason and say, let's go
over there and play a flag football game.

Speaker 3 (45:08):
Why don't we go out there and do a fan fest.

Speaker 8 (45:10):
Because they tried that with the NFL, Europe and World
League and it Bad's football is not going to expand
the game.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
But that's why I said I don't want to go.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
But what I'm saying is these guys don't want to
go over there and play those games that mess up
up their body clock.

Speaker 6 (45:26):
But but but but.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
But but but but you forget about one thing. Money.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Well, we know it's all about the money. We all
know and understand that it's about money. But it's again,
if we're talking about the well being of the players,
the travel is not helping them.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
And here's the other thing.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
When you go to these facility, when you go to
these places, what do we always see in every single.

Speaker 3 (45:55):
Game, Hey, somebody get hurt because of.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
Saying, like, you know, you're slipping and falling, look like
an ice rink because the grass is short from soccer.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
Yes, and they put sand in the grass, so you slide.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
So that's why you ever seen a soccer player take
off running and slide on their knees and just.

Speaker 1 (46:19):
Go all the way and slide ten fifteen feet like
slip and slide.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
You don't want to do that in football, bro, No, No,
if you do that in football, you'll be like Jason Tatum.
Did you see Jason Tatum when he when he got hurt,
he fell and he spinned around like a breakdancer. Somebody's
gonna make a mean, they're gonna put like man. I
hope they don't. They're gonna put music to it, and

(46:46):
they're gonna have Jason Tatum.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
We all know the Internet is a terrible, terrible place.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
It's a terrible place, and that's what would happen if
you put football over all over Europe and all over
the world for that matter. I've gone to Australia multiple
times and it took me a day.

Speaker 3 (47:06):
Just to stretch out from being on a plane for
nineteen hours. And and that's that. Those were the direct
flights where yeah, they're gonna be. I went from Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
To New Zealand, New Zealand to Sydney or Melbourne, it.
I'm sure that they'll do charters absolutely, and they're all chartered.

Speaker 3 (47:25):
Yeah, they'll they'll do the same, honestly.

Speaker 8 (47:27):
Think at some point they'll probably add an extra bye
week so they can do those games.

Speaker 3 (47:33):
There you go, that's a good idea, But i mean,
look at look at it.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
We got games where Minnesota is going to be in
Dublin and then standing in London for the weak when
when Jacksonville used to play back to back weekends over there,
they just stay over there the entire But again, you're
coming back, You're you're trying to adjust, and yet they're
not giving you that opportunity.

Speaker 2 (47:57):
The jet lag five hours when you're in London, are
in the UK, you're five hours ahead.

Speaker 1 (48:05):
I'm not a big fan of this, just to be
perfectly honest. I mean, it doesn't matter what I think.
I'm gonna wake up in the morning, I'm gonna watch it,
go watch it. I'm gonna be up. I'm gonna make
sure my lineup is set five hours ahead. Yeah, I'm
gonna make sure my fantasy football stuff is ready to
go because I'm not where that's what you say now
until the drafts start happening. But the thing is, and

(48:26):
I'll bring it up in the next segment because we're
up against it. Not only are they're going overseas to
do these different things, they're also trying.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
To get in our pocket books because they are changing
the way the game is being seen. Now.

Speaker 1 (48:43):
You know, we were just talking about the NBA and
being one of the main channels and being able to
watch it CBS, NBC, ABC, Like, the numbers are gonna
go through the roof nationally.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
We talk about Texas football in that file game.

Speaker 1 (49:01):
Those are easy access because everybody has those channels, and
so the numbers are gonna go through the roof.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Well, now with streaming, they're gonna make you pay for
an extra game that you already paid for on others.

Speaker 3 (49:16):
I didn't even think about it exactly. So not only
is it bad for the players going over there and
having to travel and now risking Uh now I gotta
pay for international exact exactly. And they like this, they SI.

Speaker 1 (49:32):
We'll talk about it when we come back, because I
got the numbers and the breakdown of how much money
you are going to have to spend to watch a game.
Not only that, we're gonna tell you about the uh
Cleveland Brown situation and the folks in Cleveland are having
to pick sides. We'll talk about it right here on

(49:54):
the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Welcome back to the Morning kick Off right here on
Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred. Design Coming up in the
next segment, we will have the World's Strongest Take.

Speaker 3 (50:10):
Brought to you by the world's Strongest Man.

Speaker 1 (50:12):
But right now, I want to get into this conversation
about the Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland Browns. They have an
issue going on in Cleveland. In the folks in Cleveland
are not happy that they have to choose some sides.

Speaker 7 (50:30):
One groups likes this guy. One group likes this guy.
Grose's forced to rooting for a five 'ot ten quarterback.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
You know this is on Andrew Berry.

Speaker 7 (50:40):
You draft Shador after you drafted a quarterback in the
third round.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
You created this.

Speaker 7 (50:47):
You're just making picks like you're in a fantasy football thing.
You're not building. You're not putting a team together. Four
quarterbacks and everybody. There's the flat goat camp, there's the
picket camp, there's the Sanders camp, there's the Dylan Gabriel
now is his sympathetic figure you created this when you

(51:08):
brought this, when you brought this quarterback room to Brea.
It's a circus and half the guys haven't even shown
up yet.

Speaker 1 (51:18):
That to me tells you everything about Cleveland. Now I'm
in the Shador Sanders camp.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
I'm in the Joe.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
Flacco camp, always have been, always will be. I think
Chador is doing exactly what needs to happen. He's speaking
to the media, he's humble about everything. He had to
be humbled, and now we're moving forward with it. You know,
the Kenny Pickett situation. Kenny Pickett I don't think has

(51:48):
the upside of somebody like a Chador or even a
Dylan Gabriel. I think that the stability of Joe Flacco
has been key. You notice I haven't even mentioned Deshaun
Watson because he's still dealing with his injury.

Speaker 3 (52:03):
So he is, He's around, but he's not in action.

Speaker 1 (52:07):
And as he said, the entire team isn't even there
yet yet. There's a controversy already brewing in Cleveland. Yet
in New Orleans they went and got out and got
an off injured Tyler Shuck that is now about to

(52:27):
be their starting quarterback and David Carr is living his
best I mean, Derek Carr is living his best.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
Life right now. Run me my money. I'm going home
and play with my kids.

Speaker 1 (52:36):
And I'm going I'm going golf in today and We're
gonna have lunch with my wife. I'm gonna work out
with my kids and now I'm going to have some fun.
You gotta show you have to fire one of these
nannies because I'm dude, got a shoulder problem. But yeah,
he going out and swinging his golf club. I'm impressed
by him. A motivation goals. He got me motivated. But

(52:59):
you start to look at it and you say, why
is it that Cleveland has to go.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
Through this type of situation? Can I ask you?

Speaker 2 (53:08):
Have you seen the video of yesterday's practice when Shader
through the forty odo touchdown down the sideline and they
came right back and Gabriel threw the interception on his
and because he didn't read the coverage, and the.

Speaker 3 (53:25):
Coach said, you gotta read the coverage. And he's screaming
at Gabriel and it looked.

Speaker 2 (53:30):
Like Sanders was had his hand over his mouth like
I got this, Like you could tell that he is
more confident than Gabriel is.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
Well, I don't.

Speaker 6 (53:44):
I just know this.

Speaker 1 (53:46):
The kid has played at every single level, regardless if
he's played for his dad or not.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (53:52):
People don't like the fact he playing for his dad.
Got it understood. But the numbers are what the numbers are.

Speaker 3 (53:59):
He put them up. He played well.

Speaker 1 (54:02):
Yes he had Travis Hunter, but he also had Jimmy
Horn Jr. He had other players. He didn't have blocking
in front of him, right, he didn't have a running
game to protect him.

Speaker 3 (54:11):
Now you get into the NFL, you're gonna have that.
You're definitely gonna have some playmakers on the outside.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
You got a top ten tight end and in.

Speaker 3 (54:22):
Djoku that you can get the ball to as a
safety net. And the defense is gonna give you the
more options. They don't give you more. I'll give you
the ball. Yeah, they're gonna get you the ball.

Speaker 2 (54:32):
So the the other conversation that you know, I love
the Internet and cam Ward and Shader Sanders, they worked
out together at one of those quarterback camps and the
whole time Cam just spent undressing him verbally, yeah and saying,
you're the check down king. That's why your percentage is

(54:53):
so high, he said, I through d balls. He's like,
that's why I'm gonna get drafted first, and you're not
gonna get drafted first. I mean, like that guy right there,
that's a level of confidence that you don't hear very often.

Speaker 1 (55:10):
He's gonna come into the league like everybody else, and
he's gonna get punched in the mouth too.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
And so you think one of this is gonna be
like hey, no, no, no, not punch him. No. I
mean like he's gonna have to learn the game is
gonna be different for him. Yeah, just go to a huddle,
don't talk to the defense. Let's just make sure that
you're doing the things that you need to do. So
I'm I'm all in on this.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
I'm all I'm all in on the controversy of what's
going to happen in Cleveland. It's gonna be great for
TV because the storyline is going to be that who
is going to be who's gonna assume that backup quarterback role?

Speaker 2 (55:45):
They gotta do hard knocks there, like, just I can't
see that nowhere else can I see more interest than
the quarterback room in Cleveland. I Mean, you could say
the Giants and the Jets, like, what are they're gonna do?

(56:06):
Or maybe even go to phill Pittsburgh and see how
emasculated Mike Tomlin has been. Because he's done, they haven't
getting He has no power. The thing is that I
believe that there's no way he's making these moves that
he's waiting on Aaron Rodgers like, there's no way now

(56:29):
I can see them waiting to see how things play
out and then making the move to get cousins.

Speaker 3 (56:36):
Because you know you can afford it. You don't.

Speaker 2 (56:38):
You don't have I mean, the quarterbacks that you have
on your rosters cost twelve forty nine cent. You got
all the money in the world, Go get a quarterback
and it's only going to be forty million. It's not
gonna be fifty five or sixty like the elite ten.
So what's the what's the what's the problem?

Speaker 3 (56:58):
Right? What are they waiting on?

Speaker 1 (57:01):
Why?

Speaker 3 (57:02):
What are they waiting on?

Speaker 2 (57:03):
I'm asking you as a man, like, if you're in
charge and you're gonna put the product on the field,
and you're allowed to be coach, general manager, but you're
not making a decision, that's not an indictment on you
as a man.

Speaker 3 (57:22):
As a coach.

Speaker 1 (57:23):
I mean you still have to go by what they
want you to do. I mean they are dictating it
through everybody.

Speaker 3 (57:31):
Just like the draft.

Speaker 1 (57:32):
You have to go through the draft and say this
is who I want. Yes, the coach can come in
and say, yeah, I want to go get this guy.
But if they say no, just like from what everybody said,
the owner came in and was like draft Shador to Cleveland.
So now it creates this okay, here we go again,
hands tied type of deal. But if you were smart

(57:57):
in business, why wouldn't you have grafted this Shador business
wise in the fifth round, fourth round, any any time
before because of the fact them jerseys are.

Speaker 3 (58:07):
About to sell. They're about to sell out them Jerseys. Man.

Speaker 1 (58:11):
So going back to your conversation about Aaron Rodgers, Aaron
Rodgers is going to be If I'm Aaron Rodgers, I
might look at New Orleans right now. I might look
at that because that situation I can walk in and
be the starter. But I don't know if Kellen Moore
wants to deal with that. So in order to be

(58:31):
able to see all of this, I didn't want to
get away from the topic of it all. But the
streaming services that are out there right now, is going
to cost you fifteen hundred and fifteen dollars and forty
cents to be exact to watch all the games in
its entirety. Yes, because if you bought the Sunday ticket,

(58:54):
it's five hundred and twenty two dollars. If you buy
YouTube TV, it's five hundred and sixty three dollars and
eighty eight cents. If you have to watch a game
on Peacock thirteen dollars and ninety nine cents.

Speaker 3 (59:06):
You know they always throw that ninety nine at you.

Speaker 1 (59:09):
Netflix twenty two dollars in ninety nine six because you
know there's games on there. On Thursday night, you have
Amazon Prime eighty nine dollars in ninety four cents. ESPN
plus one hundred and four dollars and ninety four cents. Well,
total taxes and fees one hundred and ninety seven dollars
sixty six cents, for a grand total of fifteen hundred

(59:32):
and fifteen dollars forty cents. Not doing it, NFL fans
will spend at least fifteen hundred dollars to watch all
eighteen games next season.

Speaker 3 (59:44):
When you buy it, I'm coming to your house and WRT.

Speaker 1 (59:46):
Oh no, well, you know what, you can buy it
yourself because you can write it off. You now do
sports radio every day, so now you can write it
all off. That's a business event.

Speaker 2 (59:54):
Yeah, but you know what, I already have Peacock, already
have Netflix, already have Prime all that other stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
Miss me with it. No, you're about to go. You're
about to miss me. You're gonna have to go do it.

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
So and by the way, Troy Ekman just picked the
Cowboys to go to the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
Be excited about it.

Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
Coming up next, Troy always hide drunk that he's got
that eight beer. By the way, when we come back,
the world's Strongest Take will be brought to you by
the world's strongest man right here on the morning kickoff
on Sports Radio and thirteen hundred design. It's a lot
going on, baby, But did you know one thing happens

(01:00:35):
at this time.

Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
WWE Hall of Famer and the world's.

Speaker 1 (01:00:39):
Strongest Man, the Mark Henry, brings you those world's strongest.

Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Take right here. Take it away, big fellow. Alright, some man,
you know what time it is? What time is?

Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
It's time for the World's Strongest Take by the world's
strongest man.

Speaker 3 (01:00:59):
My gosh, back then they didn't know me. Now I'm hot,
they all on me. Guys.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
It's a tough time, and because of the basketball season,
I'm gonna stay with basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
Even though we.

Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
We could talk about the NFL, we could talk about
hockey right now, we can eat to talk about soccer
or golf. But everybody knows that right now, with the
playoffs and full effect and all that's going on, that

(01:01:41):
that's nothing that we should just gloss over.

Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
So I'm gonna give it to you like this. Steph Curry.

Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
Played a lot of minutes in his playoffs, a lot
because he had to, and you see other guys trying
to step up, but still to no avail.

Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
They're suffering.

Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
Steph scores forty points, runs all over the place, gets
in about five miles of running during the game. They
win usually, especially with having playoff Jimmy, who has not
looked like playoff Jimmy last two weeks, and another older player,

(01:02:31):
Draymond Green, who has trouble staying on the court because
he has a mouth on him and he likes to
hit people. Then you have Donovan Mitchell logged in the
second most amount of minutes of any guard. In what happened,

(01:02:53):
He went down a lot of minutes, scored forty points
three times, well four times with the with the injury.
Four times he scored forty points.

Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
In the playoffs. It's too much. The older players.

Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Are trying to be superman and and and I'm not
saying that it's the coaches, because the coaches that you're
gonna you only you're not gonna snatch Donovan Mitchell off
the court. And then last night, the guy that loved

(01:03:38):
the second amount.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Of minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
In the league during the playoffs, Jason Tatum never comes
off the court, plays through, everything goes down with an
injury a lot of minutes older's players and guess what,

(01:04:06):
guess what what the joker is next? Joker is in
existence like that.

Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
Listen. I ain't I'm not a psychic, and.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
I hope that's not something that's really bad. But this
should be a message to his coaches in Denver, seeing
these guys go down to cut these minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:04:33):
You can't listen. Even if you lose, live.

Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
To fight another day, you cannot have the heaviest player
on the team running up and down the court log
in the most minutes on your team can't do it.
I don't care how valuable, how good he is. I

(01:05:00):
take is that Joker will suffer the same fate as
the smaller guys that have logged in the most minutes
in this playoffs. Joker is losing the life in his legs.
That's that's that's hit him first. That's that has hit him.

(01:05:20):
Everybody's like, man, Joker don't look the same. You know why,
because he's tired too many minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
That's my take. What say you?

Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
I mean, I understand about the minutes, but at this
point in the season, everybody's tired. Everybody's been going through.

Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
It, but everybody's not playing forty two minutes a game.

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
If that's what I mean, there is no tomorrow. So
if you you're gonna tell me that, you will say,
take me out.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
He's yes, he's two hundred and eighty pounds pounding when
every time he takes a step and pushes that power
into the ground, it multiplies three or four times.

Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
I'm not coming out of it. I'm not coming out
of it. I'm staying in there as long as I
possibly can. I do understand where you're going with it,
because of what's been going on and how the game
is being played right now. I mean, yeah, you can
take some time off, you don't have to work as
hard on one end or the other. So that's gonna
be something to pay attention to. But for me, I'm

(01:06:27):
not letting that dude not play.

Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
No, I'm not saying don't play him at all. I'm
saying at the end, like, give him three minutes every
quarter to sit.

Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
Yeah, whether it's at the beginning, well, I can't put
him at the beginning, but at the end of.

Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
The quarter man, like I want to do it at
quarters ends, then I can understand that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
But other than this, three.

Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
Minutes hard unless you unless you need him in that
clutch before halftime or you need him in that last
three minute.

Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
They used to sit Michael Jordan.

Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
They used to sit Magic, Yeah, for like three four
minute stretches so they can play Kobe.

Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
They used to sit them.

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
So when it came to that last four minutes of
the game, three minutes they were on the floor.

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Well, why are they not doing that no more?

Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
Because they're allowing the players to dictate what they're doing.
And that's why these coaches are getting their butts fired
because they're not owning up and being coaches.

Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
Yeah, well, I'm just telling you this. There's no way
that I would at this particular time. I think the
way that you manage it don't let them practice. That's
how you manage that. You don't practice at all. What
did Dionce say? There were days that he didn't let
Travis Hunter play at all. They had to make sure

(01:07:53):
that he didn't practice. If y'all are doing shoot around,
you don't have to do shoot around. You don't have
to be to the arena until X amount of time.
But as far as benching him, not benching them, but
sitting them, I can't do that. I got to have
them because there is no tomorrow. And Joker, he don't
move quick enough to have to worry about an injury.

(01:08:16):
Don't that dude, don't even move fast enough to have
to worry about it now. Obviously you see what happened
with Jason Turry. What's it ain't play a lot of minutes.
Jalen Brunton plays a lot of minutes. Is he gonna
be on your list too? He's not seventy five years old.

Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
Oh, the age factor is catch go.

Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
The age factor there is the world's Strongest Man bringing
his world's strongest take. Coming up next, we'll close out
the show and send you to Dann Patrick.

Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
We've got NBA and.

Speaker 1 (01:08:51):
Charles Barkley has something for the folks in Cleveland. No,
not the Browns, but the Cavaliers. Right here on the
morning kickoff on score Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone.
Turn into the show, and if you missed any part
of the show, make sure you get over to AM

(01:09:12):
thirteen hundred to Zone or wherever you get your podcasts,
and make sure you tell all your friends about the
morning Kickoff because we are here Monday through Friday seven
to nine AM as we try to make sure that
we bring it to you. Tomorrow's show we will have
Danny Davis of the Austin American Statesman. We also will

(01:09:33):
have coach Jim Slosnago as they played Thursday, so we
moved them up to Wednesday at eight o'clock. And we'll
also have a recruiting expert talking about all things basketball
recruiting because Texas is on the front line for a
lot of the top players in the state of Texas.

(01:09:53):
But before all that, our God Mark Henry has a
special shout out.

Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
Special shout out to Mom foos and delicate Tessen. I
will be going to Mom tomorrow at eleven point thirty am.

Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
I'm looking forward to it. If y'all around look us up,
we're gonna have a good time.

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
So I wanted to get into this conversation because the
NBA continues to be the main story. Obviously, we've seen
teams get their opportunities and now you starting to see separation.
This will be more than likely with the new injury
to Jason Tatum. The injury seems to be a torn

(01:10:38):
achilles not saying it's for sure, but we will see
what ends up happening. But tonight, Indiana is at Cleveland.
Indiana has a three to one lead. In Charles Barkley
and being Charles Barkley, doesn't believe that this is going
to end well for the Cleveland Cavalier.

Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
And let me tell you something, tell me something, Chuck.

Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
The Cavs gotta have a one game mentality because let
me tell you something, no, no, But if they can
win that game, the next game, game six, and thewn
are gonna be filling the heat because they're gonna be like, hey,
we don't get this thing done. They not gonna go
get Game seven back in Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
They're not.

Speaker 1 (01:11:23):
What once you say, Chuck, No, Bro, you don't have
to worry about that. They gotta win three games in
a row.

Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
That's not happening.

Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
If Indiana loses tonight, it doesn't matter. They're gonna win
the series. Cleveland is working way too hard to try
to get a victory, and Indiana's just out there playing
loose basketball and having a good time. Tonight's at a thirty.
You have Denver at Oka. See, the series is tied

(01:11:54):
two games a piece. This is the game that I
think that Chuck should have been focusing on because if
OKAC wins this game, they win the series. You were
talking about Joker and his time on the court. This
is why Joker can't take time off. This is why
Joker can't sit out because they have to have this

(01:12:18):
game tonight in Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:12:19):
See, I'm hard.

Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
I believe he needs refs, And I'm not saying he's
got to sit out a whole quarter. I'm saying, give
the dude at least three or four minutes every quarter,
just man, a half? Can you give him four minutes
a half? Can we negotiate that with the coaches because

(01:12:46):
they're wearing the guys down. And when you get worn
down and you express the extreme effort that is needed
to do your job, especially if you're under the gun.

Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
You're gonna hurt something. We've seen it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
This is the worst managed playoffs I've ever seen, as
far as time is concerned. Wow, I've been watching I've
been watching playoff basketball for close to twenty years.

Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
Worst managed.

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
These coaches have lost their minds. Okay, everybody was mad, Well.

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
They weren't mad, but they were a little disappointed that.

Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
The Golden State Warriors sat their veterans when they knew
the game was out of reach, they weren't gonna win,
and they just sat them. They wash, that's man. They
could keep fighting and come back. No, sometimes you gotta
like regroup, like regroup, like run away and live to

(01:13:48):
fight another day. Like, which game are you talking about?
The game in the last series? I was trying to say,
because they they played Houston. Yeah, they had to sit,
They had to sit the guys, let them rest.

Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
Yeah, it was out of hand.

Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
It was nothing that they and then it came back
the next game because they kept playing their players.

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Those players were tired and Golden State won the series.
How do how does everybody feel about Jimmy Butler. I
think Jimmy Butler is playing too many minutes as well.

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
Jimmy, Jimmy Butler. It was minus thirty and plus minus
last night. They needed Jimmy to play better. They Jimmy
did not play well. Jimmy disappeared in the last game
during the final minutes as well. He was not taking
the shots. Everybody else where is playoff Jimmy. Because Jimmy

(01:14:45):
needed to help this Golden State team. People thought, what
did Draymond say, we can win this? Yeah, we got Jimmy.
Now it's not happening. You've had people step up like
a buddy heell. You've had potzin Ze Minsk step in.
Hist He's tried. They finally let Jonathan Kamena play, and

(01:15:06):
now Kaminga is your best player on the court.

Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Start him, how about that?

Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
And then let playoff Jimmy come off the bench like
Andre Eagle Dollar used to do.

Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Remember is he there is no way that they're gonna
bench Jimmy Butler to come off the bench.

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Okay, start him playing ten minutes and then sit is
er In down and let Andre Eagle Dollar play and
then let Jimmy close.

Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
I'm like, or let him close together.

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
How about that Kaminga is playing, He's taking the ball
to the hoop. I'm looking at the minutes on this team.
Gary Payton Junior he played sixteen, Looney fourteen, Kaminga thirty minutes.
Trace Jackson Davis played nineteen. I don't know why he's

(01:15:57):
still in the lineup. This team is gonna be falling
apart if they can't stop Julius Randall and the fact
that Anthony Edwards is eating the way that he is
right now this series three one. And I'm not trying
to sound like Captain obvious, but Steph coming back isn't
gonna help them that much.

Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
Steph, he's been out.

Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
At least they did that right because I told you
if he came back in those first two games, he
was gonna tear it off the bomb.

Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
Yeah, I mean, this is it's interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:16:32):
Even Rudy Gobert, who didn't even play that much, I mean,
didn't play that well. He wasn't the twenty four to
twenty four. He only had eight points last night.

Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
They still can't find a way to manufacture a dumb
and they were at.

Speaker 1 (01:16:48):
Home that's the other part about it. And so you're
gonna give Anthony Edwards an opportunity to really really show out. Yeah,
this isn't This isn't a good look for what was
expected to be a big time matchup. As tomorrow they're
back in Minnesota, Golden State.

Speaker 7 (01:17:07):
On the road.

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
You already talking about it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:10):
There's no way he's gonna fly across country, step and
be able to be on that plane and then try
to get off and try to come back into this game.

Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
There is just not going to be possible.

Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
But tonight you see Indiana at Cleveland, Denver at ow
case close out.

Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
Do we have a close out or do we.

Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
Have a stretch out. We'll see what happens. For Mark Henry,
for our guy Marcus, I'm harball hars Please please please
be careful. Today on Craig Wade's show, make sure you
tune in. He's got Kendall Rogers talking Texas baseball. He'll
have the voice of the Oklahoma Suitters, Toby Rowland, and

(01:17:47):
he'll have my guy, Gene Watson of the Chicago White Sox.
It is a baseball day on the Craigways Show right
here on AM thirteen, hundred zone, and just remember this,
don't believe everything you see, because even salt looks like
sugar peas.
