do it now, get to that page AM thirteen hundred
the zone and make it your pre set. All right, Mark,
let's get right into it, because yesterday in the NBA
was all about the drama. You're sitting there and you're

(02:43):
thinking you're gonna get an extra game from the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Milwaukee Bucks are thinking, all right, we're getting another
opportunity to play one more gien now, one more game,
one more guinion. And then this happens.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Orter to green trend Moses on a brilliant night, Very
trim Junior has it a.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Wall for his fingertips and shot, here we go, Halliburton.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
Five seconds, four seconds, Hallo, are you going lead?

Speaker 7 (03:29):
One point three to go? Pacers got on them, try
to unbut it no youngest, he's gonna take him now.
He's very trim Junior. He's a prime in. The Pacers
are moving on. Wanna conduct over time.

Speaker 8 (03:53):
One Jim wat time.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
They forced two turtles in the final twenty nine seconds
of the ball game for them to come from behind
and get the victory. And this series had all kinds
of energy to it. You think about what we saw
with Dame Lillard and Tyrese Halliburton.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Dame sitting on the bench talking a lot, talking.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
A lot, Halliburton going out and just balling out of control.
You look at the Milwaukee Bucks and you're like, this
is a team that was once at the mountaintop, once
at the mountaintop, and here they are. They lose the
series to the Indianapolis Pacers four games to one, and

(04:42):
now all things.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Are on the table.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
When these teams go fishing and going to can Koon,
going to Galla, wherever.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
They going hard.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
There are not many people that are going on vacation.
Everybody gonna be insert. But again, this is gonna be
a It's gonna be a The boat is gonna have
plenty of room on.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Because there would be no Lillard there.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Uh, there'll be no holiday because he's with Boston. Now
there'll be no Middleton yep. Like all the people that
were key components uh to the success of that team
either got suspended, traded or injured. There's four Gary Trent Junior. Listen,

(05:38):
I love Gary Trent Junior. He balled out thirty three
points yesterday. Like I said, I love Garrett. The sunshine
on every dog was rearing in once in a while,
but that's once in a while.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
He is.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
If he was a consistent star, we would know his
name more than just a sports fans knowing him. He's
a role player, he's a bench guy. He's a glue
he's a glue guy. He's good with waving a towel
on the sideline. And I'm not saying that he's not

(06:11):
an elite player, because he's in the NBA making millions
of dollars a year, but when it comes to the
elite of the elite, he's not one of those. And
they put him in a situation like he was, and
you saw what happened. The moment was too big pee
down his leg and they lost the game. All he
had to do was catch the ball. But you know what,

(06:32):
in his mind, the ball was already in his hand
and he was going up to make the shot.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
He wasn't even gonna shoot, he was just gonna hold it.
That's all he had to do was hold it. He caught,
he was on the.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Sideline, and the ball went through his hands and threw
his legs and out of bounds, and that's how they
ended up getting you playing hut hut and it's a
different game.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Yeah, well he is. Uh god, this ended up bad.
But that wasn't even the worst part about it. The
worst part about it happened after the game and they
got a little tiff, tiff going on.

Speaker 6 (07:10):
Isaac on the court, see Yannis there, everybody trying to
keep everyone away, and you see Turner telling his team
to head back.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
Toward the locker room. A lot of lingering going out
of the.

Speaker 6 (07:28):
Court after this, obviously, the celebration of the Nian, the Pacers,
and the disappointment.

Speaker 9 (07:36):
Of the Bucks.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
You know how yesterday we had the conversation about the
gorilla versus a hundred men.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, I think yesterday I think Janis might have been
able to take that gorilla by himself.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
That's how mad and angry he was after that game.
You know, I'm gonna talk about it hard later on
in the World's Strongest take. But just to educate everybody
that didn't watch, what happened was Tyrese Halliburton's dad had
a towel with Tyrese's face on it, but not uncommon,

(08:18):
good family, you know, support, But he went and waved
that flag in Giannis's face, like get off the court.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
We won, We probaly Voo front. Say, now, all of
a sudden, it's.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
A week you on the team, dad's, mom's friends, countrymen,
lead the players alone.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
You don't go to the zoo and jump in the
cage with the lions. You don't go.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Some where there's extreme danger. Because I'm gonna tell you something.
Say it's a football game. You're on the sideline, blessed,
you know everybody don't get to stand on the sideline hard,
you know how it is. And all of a sudden,
this big running back is coming and you just jump

(09:21):
out on the field. If he hits you, he can
kill you. That you should have the same extreme prejudice
about doing things on the court as you would on
the field, like respect the players.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
And and know your role.

Speaker 9 (09:41):
Well.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I want you to hear from Giannis out to Takoupo
on Pops being able to get on to the court.

Speaker 8 (09:50):
I believe like being humbled in victory.

Speaker 10 (09:52):
That's how way I am.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Now.

Speaker 10 (09:54):
Can be a lot of people out there that are like, no,
when you when you win the.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Game, go talk did and you know it's it's a
green light for.

Speaker 10 (10:02):
You to be disrespectful towards somebody else. I disagree I
won the championship. They have it when we want a championship.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
I remember my mom.

Speaker 10 (10:11):
She was ceared to cross. She was like, am I
allowed to come in hug my son? Losing the game?
Emotions right run high, having a fan, which at the
moment I thought it was fun, but then I realized
it was Tyrtis's son, which I love Tarist I think
is a great competitor. He was his dad, sorry, coming

(10:33):
in the floor and showing me his son at a
towel with his face.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
This is what we do, this is what we have
to do.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
This, if we do this, I feel like that's.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Very very disrespectful, very disrespectful. Is there anybody that sounds
better causing that? Janni's could say, man, he could drop
all of it, and he was still sound classy. He
was handling his business as always. He just let you know,

(11:06):
act like you've been there and things will.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Be good for you. Don't.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
A lot of real haven't though exactly. There's ways to
go about that, so we shall see. We're just getting
started on this Hunk Day edition of The Morning Kickoff.
Coming up next, we'll hear from coach Sark, and yes,
we'll let you hear about what Sark has to say
about arch Manning and so much more right here on

(11:31):
the morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Coming up.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
In the next segment, we'll have Danny Davis of the
Austin American Statesman talking all things Texas women's basketball, and
also we'll get them to talk a little bit about
Texas baseball. I want to get into this conversation because
there was so much being made of the fact that
Texas did not have a spring game.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
A lot of people were a little disappointed.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
For obvious reason is because they wanted to see who
was next, What's the next superstar? Everybody wanted to see
Arch Manning throw those passes. But like anything else, Coach
Sark always has a game plan for what is being
laid out and his vision for this football team. But
one of the positions that everybody was talking about, because

(12:21):
you had another guy go in the first round in
Matthew Golden, you have got a lot of guys that
need to step up at that position. So Sark was
asked about the wide receiver's position and what is going
on there?

Speaker 9 (12:35):
Yeah, I know this group.

Speaker 11 (12:40):
You know, when you when you get into winter conditioning
the way we had adjusted a little. They had a
little more time to coach Beckton before Vetscott going again
because we had played so late, I probably got a
little better chance to see them up close. And the
first thing that jumped out to me was, okay, we
we we hit the right profiles, meaning you know, just

(13:01):
about at every position we have a we have a
pretty good profile that we're trying to fit in a box.
And it's a little bit of an NFL mentality, but
the idea of arm lank, hand size, height at certain positions,
you know that the measurables that matter. Then you watch,
you look at that group, it's a really good looking group.
And then and then you could see certain players players

(13:23):
at certain kind of levels of development. And there's nothing
wrong with that too, right, everybody comes in in a
different stage.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (13:30):
The one thing I'd say about this group is a
very hungry you know that they're they're competitive, they're hungry. Uh,
and they're all really high character kids, like like, we
continue to recruit kids with really high character to help
build into.

Speaker 8 (13:44):
That culture that we have going on right now.

Speaker 11 (13:47):
How many of them really play play this fall remains
to be seen and really contribute. But I know a
lot of them are knocking on a lot of doors,
whether it's on offense, defense or on special teams.

Speaker 8 (13:59):
And a few them have really stood.

Speaker 11 (14:01):
Out to where it's like, we're going a hard time
keeping this guy off the field. You know, he he's
making it so evident that we're gonna have to play this.

Speaker 8 (14:09):
Guy and other guys are are.

Speaker 11 (14:12):
You can see the growth, and we're like, man, what's
this guy gonna look like in August? What might this
guy look like in October? What might this guy look
like in January?

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Right?

Speaker 11 (14:21):
And so we're trying not to cast judgment on these
guys now, but just hey, he's getting better, he's improving,
and let's just keep pushing them to see where.

Speaker 8 (14:31):
They can where they can finish up.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Gotta love it. Gotta love the depth that Texas is
starting to develop.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
You gotta love the fact that these guys are putting
in the work to be successful.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
We know about Ryan Wingam, we know what he's capable
of doing. A guy that has been getting a lot
of love has been Parker Livingston. He's a guy that
a lot of folks have been talking about, and he too,
was a guy that came in, worked developed, and he's
taking that next step. So the development again is at

(15:04):
the forefront.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
I love the hard work. I love that.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
But this is a different Texas team than the previous
two seasons of going to the Final four. They did
it with four to two guys because they'd be worthy
golden like, they stretched the field in a way. They
have three big two hundred and twenty pound two hundred

(15:28):
and ten pound wide receivers, mostly living stone.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Like those DeAndre Moore. DeAndre Moore's big too.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
I forgot how big he is, you know, and you
had wing go to that with his catch radius and
body control. Like he's one of those guys that like
they have four guys, if they go four wide, everybody
should be happy because you know, you're gonna get a
one on one. Somebody's gonna get a one on one.
Yeah who, I don't know who is gonna be. But

(16:04):
because of the offense that they run, you're gonna you're
gonna see everybody cheering for each other. They come on, man,
do it. It's gonna it's your opportunity. And and that's
that's something that you don't see in a lot of programs.
It's me me me, throw me the ball t O remember.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Remember ke just throw me the dad ball.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Well, I think what Sark mentioned in there is he's
recruiting the guys that fit what he wants exactly. So
he's he doesn't have a lot of those me guys
in there, and that's why he wants to make sure
that he has the right fit when he goes out
and recruiting.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
It.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Can't you can be an alpha, you can be that
guy that wants the ball. But this is a we
moved the ball around in this offense. Ye, a team player,
so you're gonna end up doing that. But he was asked,
what's the biggest surprise so far with this foot all
team during this uh during the springtime?

Speaker 8 (17:04):
You know, I don't know. I mean, because it's you know,
i'd love to say it's not over right.

Speaker 11 (17:08):
I mean, there's still a lot of guys that are
out there, you know, i'd say on our end, you know,
when when you decide to go take a transfer portal
punter and kicker, I'm not surprised that we lost a
punter and a kicker in this process like that.

Speaker 8 (17:27):
That's not surprising to me.

Speaker 11 (17:29):
When you have a you know, fourth year player offensive
lineman decide that he wants to go in the portal
with an opportunity to go start somewhere else.

Speaker 8 (17:36):
I can understand that.

Speaker 11 (17:38):
I'm proud of the fact that really we didn't have
any surprises, you know.

Speaker 8 (17:43):
I think that's a good thing.

Speaker 11 (17:44):
You know that that nobody came in to me, you know,
two days before the last practice to say they were
going in the portal. And so I think that we've developed,
Like I said, we've developed a really good culture around
our place where guys feel like they're getting developed and
that they're part of a pro program that is competing
for championships, that if you can do things the right way,
you're probably going to have an opportunity to fulfill your

(18:07):
dreams of playing in the NFL. And they're getting a
world class education. And so there's a lot of a
lot of positives that we have and the fact that
our team recognizes that, I think is a good thing.

Speaker 12 (18:18):
You know.

Speaker 11 (18:18):
Like I said, I don't know if I'd necessarily have
any surprises coming out of it, and.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
That's a good thing too.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
But one of the biggest things for us and this
team is you still want to kind of see what's
going on all the way around, and for start, he
keeps talking about this, we keep talking about it.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
What is that old line going to look like? And
what is their capabilities?

Speaker 8 (18:43):
I would say.

Speaker 11 (18:46):
I'm confident in our ability. You know that if we
have some high level players on that unit. You know
what what what DJ Campbell when he's at his best,
what that looks like. I'm very confident in h Trevor
Goosby looks like at his best, I'm very confident in
when Cole Hudson Nato, you know, Brandon Baker's of the world.

(19:08):
I mean, these guys when they're on, man, it's it's
really really good. I think that the key for this
unit as we start to move forward summer, fall camp,
early in the season is going to be continuity and consistency.
You know, we had such a comfort level of continuity
over the past few years because.

Speaker 8 (19:28):
Of so many familiar faces that now we have to
make sure that we.

Speaker 11 (19:34):
Almost force feed consistency and continuity amongst that group. And
that starts with trust, right, trust and calls, trust and futwork,
trusting the guy next to you. And and we've seen
some practices where it's been a really beautiful thing. And
it feels great. We've seen other days when it's been
a little bit off, which is understandable.

Speaker 8 (19:53):
Spring practice, Like like I said, you know that wasn't
sounding the alarm in spring ball about it.

Speaker 11 (19:58):
But we're gonna have to continue to find that growth
throughout the summer and into fall camp because it's not
going to be about talent with that group. It's going
to be about the level of consistency that they play
with individually and collectively, and that's going to be about
the continuity that they play with as a unit.

Speaker 8 (20:14):
When they take the field.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
And of course it has to come back to one
Arch Manning. Wow.

Speaker 11 (20:21):
I thought this was a really good spring for Arch
in that you know, he's in year three in our
system and he's played in real games. He's played where
he's had to be the guy preparing as a game
plan that was built for him. He's had to prepare
as a backup to know and then be ready if
his numbers called, and a lot of veteran players around

(20:43):
him in that time the last two years. In this spring,
obviously due to a attrition guys moving on due to
a couple.

Speaker 8 (20:51):
Of injuries, he's really.

Speaker 11 (20:53):
Had to lead with the knowledge base that he gained
the last two years.

Speaker 8 (20:59):
You know that when we were running a play and
not every play might be perfect.

Speaker 11 (21:03):
The guy might run the wrong route or not run
a route at the right depth, or an offensive line
not not make the right.

Speaker 8 (21:10):
Line call to pick up a pressure.

Speaker 11 (21:13):
And so it really forced him to have to have
those offline conversations when his series was done to help
lead younger players like those older players helped lead him
when when he was a young player.

Speaker 8 (21:26):
So I thought it was it was great for him.

Speaker 11 (21:29):
Now we all see the physical ability, We all see
the connection with Ryan Wingo. It happened again, you know
Saturday on a big touchdown pass. We know the rapport
that he has with DeAndre Moore, Cedric Baxter, a lot.

Speaker 8 (21:41):
Of those guys.

Speaker 11 (21:43):
But in the end, I think this time that he
spent with a lot of those younger players is going
to serve very valuable not for us just as us
as a team, but for him in the fall when
those younger guys numbers are called. That he's got some
banked reps with those guys this spring. So I thought
that part was really valuable for him.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Don't you think that one of the things that's gonna
be the most important is the offensive line, collectively saying
we are not gonna take a loss on fourth down
and one, third down and one. This is a mentality.
I hope that they can get the mentality of dominance
on that offensive line more than talent. More than talent.

(22:27):
I want the mentality to be different. And that's that's
I'm gonna put it right there on the foot of jeezus.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Can I get a man from the congregation coming up next?
We're gonna to our guy, Danny Davis up the Austin
American states Man. Will ask him about Texas football, but
we'll also talk to him about the Texas women's basketball
team and their transfers right here on the morning kickoff
on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
It's Wednesday, so that can only mean one thing. I
got Danny Davis.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Some of the Austin American Statesman joins us and Danny,
let's get right into the Texas women's basketball team.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
As the off season has come to play, some.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
Ladies have left, but coach Vic and his crew have
been on the road and they've got some new players
coming in.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Which one stands out the most to you? I think
probably the.

Speaker 12 (23:27):
I think there's probably too I mean, they have four
transfers if we're not counting Elia Crump in this conversation
is obviously the five star freshmen who I think everyone
over there has a lot of a lot of excitement
and hopeover. I think Ashton Judd, the guard from Missouri,
just because Texas has a need for some backcourt help.
Essentially Leila Failure is indeed transferring out and Jock has

(23:51):
decided to move on. I think, you know, Texas needs
some shooting, and Ashton provides that.

Speaker 9 (23:55):
I mean, at least her numbers say that.

Speaker 12 (23:57):
I don't know how much of that is just playing
for a badness team and how much that's gonna translate
the playing for big system. But I think on pay
per obviously that that helped them in this Texas team,
regardless of what happened and who's going to transfer in
it out they went in this offseason, you need to
help them the front court just because of Taylor Jones
and just her graduating and moving on, and that's obviously
a huge toll with just the importance of that team.

(24:18):
I think she should have been All SEC this season.
I thought that was kind of a snub by the coaches,
but you know, her leaving leaves a big hole. Sabria
Cunningham from Arizona coming in, and I think that's a big,
a big move to this.

Speaker 8 (24:31):
Type of the team.

Speaker 12 (24:31):
And see how her and you know Kyla and you
know leam Moore she comes back or just as Carleton
as she can, he is to develop. It's kind of
what they do in that front court with with Tanna
no longer there, Sabria coming into a huge, huge addition
as well. And I guess I said Darry kind of
goes in that mix too, since she's coming in from
Boston College and she sixty one let that team rebounding

(24:52):
last season, so they got some proNT court help which
was big. But Ashton jud we'll see what she can
do in the back court.

Speaker 13 (24:59):
Man.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
I'm I'm I'm so happy Danny that we got the
big news at the end of the season that Rory
Harmon was coming back.

Speaker 7 (25:07):
That got.

Speaker 9 (25:10):
The questions about it, right.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
It wouldn't be it wouldn't be a conversation with you
if I didn't mention my.

Speaker 12 (25:17):
Girl, she's getting Rory back is huge. I mean that's
a you know betteran point guard she obviously needs to
step it up, you know, with her with her mid
rage game, and you kind of get back to, you know,
yukon Rory how she was playing before she injured her knee.
But you know she'll be a year you know after

(25:37):
the injury, you know before you're coming coming back after
the injury next season, so you expect her to be
kind of working on that, uh, that mid rage game,
making her shot at a little smooth the next season.
But anytime you can return to a guard who was
you know, top five and assists this past season, who's
obviously a hound on defense and you know, one of
the better defenders in the country, I mean that's a

(25:59):
that's a huge edition. You know, you team her up
and kind of get Brianna Preston another year under her
belt and get her get another year getting you meant
her by Rory. I'm kind of sending text us up
for the future in that aspect, But you know, that's
like huge edition. Regardless of maybe similar Rory's offensive shortcomings,
I might expect her to, you know, really be in
the gym. She doesn't have anything else to be doing

(26:19):
this offseason. She's a got her degree and you know
kind of working towards that graduate. I expected to be
spending a lot of time in the gym looking up
working out her shot as well.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
That was one of the things that I thought, Miss
Preston is not going to be a freshman next year,
and like having all of the women that were younger
players be better than they were and have more extended roles.
Who do you think of those young women, uh are
going to have the most development in this next year.

Speaker 12 (26:53):
I think it just depends on what you're talking about development.
I think cam Breeze path is a low blocked by
Rory's you know, coming coming here. So I wouldn't expect
her to make a huge leap. You just expect her
to kind of sit and learn, maybe give a couple
extra minutes, and then maybe may make that jump next
or the following season after after Rory loves But I
think everyone saw what Jordan Lee did in that Final

(27:14):
four game against South Carolina, playing with Shane no longer
here and Layla moving on. I mean that does open
a lot of minutes for her potentially. You know, she
showed flashes throughout the season. I think she really came
on and the NCAA tournaments started twice and then had
that South Carolina game, so he'd expect a lot from her.
And then I still think there's a lot of potential

(27:34):
with Justice Colton. You know, throughout the season she had moments.
She's the only player to scored thirty points this season
in the game, but that was really against a not
great Butler team and kind of failed to kind of
build on that.

Speaker 9 (27:47):
And I know she was kind of frustrated with some
of her playing time.

Speaker 12 (27:49):
Late, but she decided to stick it around, stay at
Text for another year, didn't jump to the portal. So
obviously the coaches see something in her, and she sees
something in herself, and I'd expect with them playing kind
of available down there in the paint, that she makes
her step. And there's a reason why she was the
top twenty recruit in this past of the recruiting and cycle,
so I'd expect to see a big jump from her.
I expect Jordan to continue to develop and breathe, even

(28:12):
though the pain time may not necessarily be there with
Ry coming back, I expect her for her to suck, contribute,
and for her to continue to grow. And you know,
in two seasons, when this team is hers shellby more
than capable point guard.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
We're talking to Danny Davis of the Austin American Statesman.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
You can follow them on social media at Underscore Danny
Davis and Danny let's go to the diamond as this
Texas baseball team continues to roll on best start since
two thousand and four.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
It was a special year during that time.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
But the thing that stands out for me the most, Danny,
is it's always somebody different.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
How is this continuing to roll on?

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Dealing with the injuries, but yet Texas still finds a
way to get it done.

Speaker 12 (28:58):
Yeah, I mean, you're you know, I guess the Sloss
effect and you know kind of what good coaching can
do for a team, because this team has definitely dealt
with its fair share of university. I mean, everyone deals
with injuries, but I don't know how many people lose
their best picture and also their best position player and
this season.

Speaker 9 (29:18):
Still stay afloat and are still thirty eight.

Speaker 7 (29:20):
And.

Speaker 12 (29:22):
So I would I would say that they've just done
a good job just being a balanced team. And you know,
right in the ship, you know what, that's a ruger
Rioja stepping up on Friday like he did against A
and M, or you know, Jalen Forrest. Obviously we expect
a lot of him coming back, but you know, you know,
freshman like Adrian Rodriguez or Ethan Mendoza kind of coming
in after his transfer, or you know last night, you know,

(29:45):
Easton Winfield had been banished. The bench goes four or
four against the Payerview A and M, and that's a
guy who you know, may not be starting, but it
is definitely going to be a key guy, key bat
off the bench down the stretch of the team. So
they keep finding ways to you know, win, keep finding
guys to step up. We'll see that they can do
it on the road against Arkansas. This is definitely their
biggest roadtest this season this weekend. But they're getting it done.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Yeah, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
And we're looking forward to that big weekend against Arkansas
as everybody has been looking forward to this.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Pig Sue will be.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
On deck Danny as always, Man, we appreciate you joining us.
Thank you for the insight on the women's basketball team,
because we hadn't had a chance to touch on that,
so I appreciate it, man, and I'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Thank you, Danny.

Speaker 12 (30:32):
I'll be back to talk more about Roy next week.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Come on, man, coming up next, We're going to continue
this conversation about parents jumping into the court.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Is it good or is it bad? The folks from
TNT they said, no way, no how.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Here on the Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred.
This one great stuff from our god Danny Davis up
the Austin American Statesment. You're listening to the Morning Kickoff
right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
Hundred The Zone.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
At the top of the hour, we'll have Tommy Yarsh
off the Dallas Cowboys dot Com talking Cowboys Draft, what
the expectations are and what can we look for in storylines.
But right now, I want to give you a chance
to win a pair of tickets to go see Alice
Cooper and Judas Priest October October to twenty fifth at

(31:28):
the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. All you got to do is
get over to AM thirteen hundred the Zone, tap that
red microphone, and of course leave the keyword feed.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Feed is the keyword.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
When it comes to getting a chance to win a
pair of tickets to go see Alice Cooper and Judas Priest.
October to twenty fifth at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. One
of the conversations that we've had all throughout the day
was about parents getting on the court, field, whatever it
may be.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
And I understand there's sometimes you just.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Got to make it do what it do, and you
get going to look out for your kid, but in
certain moments you have to let your grown kid be
a kid and do his things. But we heard Giannis's
take on Tyrese Halliburton's father coming on the court and
getting in his face.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
And here is Tyresee's comeback on his father.

Speaker 14 (32:24):
You know, as far as the incident between be honest
and my pops, I had no idea what happened till
I got to the back and we showed the video.

Speaker 15 (32:33):
Uh.

Speaker 14 (32:33):
Me and my pops have talked about that, and I
don't agree with you know what what transpired there from him.
You know, you know, I think basketball is basketball and
let's keep it on the court. And I think that
he just you know, got excited, tell us so make
a game winner and came on the court. But I
think we had a we had a conversation, and you know,
I think he just he's just allowed me to just
play basketball. Stay over there. I'll come to him to celebrate.

(32:57):
But I think it's the emotions of the game. Just
got excited there and but at that moment, you know
you can't do that.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
So the group from T n T, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith,
Ernie Johnson and of course Shaq Diesel was not excited
about it at all.

Speaker 16 (33:15):
He's Donald, but don't not supposed to be on the court.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
Hon just talked to him, forget all. No, he was
on the court.

Speaker 17 (33:21):
So what do you think he said something? He probably
know he dad is stopping. Janna said something because he's
on the court. Of his face, So what you can't
do that? You can't you can'tnot do that? Said something there.
So you think that gres his dad? No, his dad
was said Rob bro Janna said something to him. No
he did not, No, he not look right, No.

Speaker 9 (33:44):
Coming up to him.

Speaker 16 (33:45):
What dad doing on the court. His dad is not
supposed to be on the court. Dad, you court you
want to He's an idiot. If you think that's why
you're an idiot too, Joanna says, no, that's not no,
I'm that dad is an idiot.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
If you taking you an idiot too. I will say that, No,
that is always in the court.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Say this, we we we we all have met his
dad and he has is always on the court, on
the court.

Speaker 17 (34:11):
You don't you know you entitlement because your son is
playing in the court, talking about he's always on the court.

Speaker 6 (34:19):
I don't care.

Speaker 3 (34:19):
He's always on the talking to other players. Johnny said
something to him.

Speaker 8 (34:26):
No he didn't know.

Speaker 13 (34:26):
That's not true.

Speaker 16 (34:27):
He couldn't walk the line behind he should What do
you mean walking in line behind the suns.

Speaker 7 (34:32):
He shouldn't be on the court.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
He didn't play in the game.

Speaker 13 (34:34):
Always on the he.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Shouldn't be He shouldn't be on the court. There's no
entitlement on the court.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
There's no entitlement. You shouldn't be on the court. Shouldn't
be on the court, Stay off the court. Cheer from
the stands, clap in the stands, do what you gotta do,
and everything else. If you want to, yeah, yeah, if
you want to talk Tom, that's fine, but don't be
on the court.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
You know what my grandfather always told me. He said,
just because you say it loud, don't mean you're right.
That's exactly what he said. And Shaq and Charles, they
mistake truth for volume. They need to chill out. And
I know they're trying to be entertaining and they're trying

(35:14):
to sell, sell, sell, But we come on this show
all the time, hard and sometimes we agree, sometimes we disagree,
but we both agree that your mom and your dad
should not be on the court. I remember the incident
with Lebron James. You remember that Lebron james mom when

(35:38):
he was in Cleveland used to sit on the baseline.
She didn't sit on the behind the benches. She sat
in the tunnel side. And there was one of the players,
Delonte West, who is filling hard times. That's another story.
He liked Lebron james mom and he used to always

(36:01):
go and hit on Lebron's mom. And you know how
Lebron fixed it. Mom, you're in the press box, but.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
His mom in the box. You sitting way up in
the above the stadium. No more conversation.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
That's the parents should not be the uncles, the aunts,
the best friends. Like, if you're gonna sit on the
first second row, you you should have enough couth to
understand you cannot walk out onto the court and voice
your opinion.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
It is not about you. Otherwise, to the box, you
go to the press box. You know, you got to
make sure that you're handling all of your business the
right way.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
And you know, the main the main thing is act
like you've been there before, Act like you've understood people
have Oh, I totally understand that.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
I totally understand that.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
But that's why these debates, in these conversations happened. That's
why Shaq and h Charles were going at each other
about it because the difference of opinions in what should
and what shouldn't happen.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Don't. Don't forget.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Shaq's father, mister Harrison, was always around, was always near
the court and would always get in his ear. Kevin
Durant's mom since front Row, she's had altercations with people
early in his career, so they're still in the success
part of it. This is a this is a guy
I'm not I'm not condoning it, don't get it twisted.

(37:45):
But this is a guy in Tyrese Halliburton that has
been talked bad about, said he wasn't really an all star,
and his dad has to be the confidant in him
to pump him up, to let him know quit listening
to the haters, and now he had a chance to
answer to the haters.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
And but why why lumping on Gianni's why dump all
that on Yannis? Jannis didn't deserve that. I agree with that,
and that was an emotional state. If you just lost
a big game and you come jumping in the dude
face waving and eliminated, you are eliminated. You are gone fishing,
and now you're trying.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
To feed Lucky. He came out of that with just
some stern talk. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
He was ready to put it on somebody because the
muscles that he got just seemed.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
To expand at the right time. So gotta be got
to be more character. Your hands up. Our number one
is in the book.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Coming up next, we got Tommy Yarish talking all things
Dallas Cowboys and so much more right here on the
Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred Zone.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
Welcome back to our.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Number two of the Morning Kickoff right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred Zone.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
Mike Harballhard's world's strongest Man in WWE Hall of Famer
Deep Mark Henry. In our number one, we talked a
lot about the NBA. What happened with the Pacers and
the Bucks, and of course we got to hear from
Sark and Danny Davis.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
But right now we're gonna go to Dallas Well.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Arlington and talk to our guy, Tommy Yarish of Dallascowboys
dot com.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
You can follow them at Tommy Underscore Yarrish. Tommy.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
The Cowboys have made their picks and their great seems
to be good, but they did not make any splash
picks as most would thought.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
What was your takeaway from the draft?

Speaker 13 (39:41):
Good morning, Jellis, Thanks for having me back. Yeah, they
didn't make the sexy picks. I think, as you would
say in terms of, you know, they didn't pick a
wide receiver high or anything like that, which I thought
a lot of people, including myself, thought that they were
going to do with that twelve overall pick. But I
think they made They made the best picks when it
comes to their board, and they said they said they

(40:03):
wanted to pick the best players available, and they did that.
They stuck to their board, especially in the first three rounds.
You know, you look at Tyler Booker, a guy who's
going to be plug and playing to replace Zach Martin
at right guard. More than likely. And then you look
at Donovan Azaraku. You can never have enough pass rushers
in this league, especially in the NFC East, where you
look at a lot of scrimmage for you know, all

(40:24):
the other teams and the Eagles and the Commanders and
the Giants, and they've got pass rushers of plenty. And
now the Cowboys can kind of match that with as Iraku,
Michael Parsons, Dante Fowler, et cetera. And then Savon Rebel.
I mean, if that's the guy who had a first
round great on him by a lot of teams and
a lot of analysts. And if he gets healthy, and
which is a big if, that's going to be somebody

(40:45):
that can you know, be throwing to that secondary and
start opposite of Deron Bland if he is in fact
ready for training camp, and so that's going to be
a huge help for the Cowboys if he can be
playing like he did it at East Carolina days. Remember
Cowboys team surgeon Dan Cooper did his surgery, so the
Cowboys had better medical insight on Someavon Rebel than anybody
else in the league. So those first three picks especially,

(41:06):
I think we're really good. And then you look at
Day three and Jayden Bloom I thought it was a
good value pick, and they got good value later on
for guys like you know, Jeanne Courtey, Tommy All like.
So overall, I think they hit they hit their best
player available and you know it turned it's going to
turn out well for it.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
The Cowboys, they went everywhere on the board. Uh, what
do you think about adding the wide receiver? They are
they talking about anybody specific?

Speaker 13 (41:37):
Yeah, it seems like they're they're gonna look for external
help there.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
You know.

Speaker 13 (41:41):
Stephen Jones said in the presser of the other day
following the third day of the draft that you know,
they feel like Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo and Berks and
those guys can can be wide receivers too. But the
key words for me were they're not there yet, So
they don't I don't think they feel like they've got
a wife receiver two on their roster right now, and

(42:02):
that means that they're gonna, you know, explore all the
possibilities that are out there, and you know, the two
prevalent ones are okay, we can either make a trade,
which Jerry Jones have said that they were working on
two sons to it's before the drafts. Not sure if
that's still the case or not, but I would assume
they're still on the phones calling around to see, you know,
who's available at what it would cost. Or you can

(42:24):
look to the free agent market, and you know, I
think there's two guys on the free agent market that
stand out. Obviously. The first one is Amari Cooper given
his pass with the Cowboys, he had his best four
years stretch of his career in Dallas. You know, could
that mean that there's a potential reunion on the way.
And he's got familiarity with playing with Dak Prescott and
playing in Dallas, So that's a name that can make
a lot of sense to the other one would probably

(42:45):
be Keenan Allen, you know, be veteran who's sure handed
and really good route runner and widely regarded around the lead.
Be a great locker room for Brian Schottenneimer what he's
looking for. So I think that we're still waiting to see,
you know who us as wide receiver too is I
don't think they're on the roster right now.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Defensively, the Cowboys obviously have made a lot of moves
through the off season to try to shore up that defense.
What are your expectations for this Dallas Cowboy defense.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
As they move forward.

Speaker 13 (43:18):
Well, I think the biggest part for Dallas is they're
gonna have to stay healthy. I mean, it's it's it's
you know, there's so much talent across the field, especially
with what they've added. You know, you think about Azeraku Revel,
you know, the free agency signings that they made, they
banked on a lot of guys who you know, they
had very high on their boards and want to develop

(43:38):
some more guys like Peyton Turner and Solomon Thomas. And
you know, the biggest part is, you know, it's good
to get those guys in the building, but now you've
got to develop them and make the next steps that
you can get as much out of them as you can. So,
you know, you got to look for steps from those
guys and guys like Kayer Elm you know, guys who
they had high but haven't really you know, flashed their
true potential yet.

Speaker 3 (43:59):
So the big the.

Speaker 13 (44:00):
Biggest thing for me is going to be how can
those guys develop, Can they develop, can they take the
next step in their careers and fach you know, the
picks the ceiling of where they were picked more or less,
and you could you could say that for Mazzie Smith
too on the interior of the defensive line. So I
think this defensive line is going to be much better.
You look at guys like Jay Toya, who I think

(44:22):
is gonna be he is going to be really good.
I think they picked up some real value there in
the seventh raft him. He's gonna be a guy that
pushes Massie Smith. I feel like that starting spot just
to plug it up the middle of that defensive line
as a run stopper, That's exactly what Matt Eberflus wants
to do. And then you drop it back to the
linebacker level. This is where Matt Eberflus is at his best.
He's a linebacker guy at his core, and he's really

(44:44):
good at developing linebackers. So you think you can take
the next step with guys like many Lea to Mary
on Overshow when he gets back help. Maybe Kenneth Murray
has a little bit more juice than we thought he did,
and Matt Iberfluz is going to try to get that
out of him. Maybe even Shamar Jams too. I think
the there's a lot of work to be done for
Shamar James, but nonetheless still and then you drove it
back to the secondary and Deron Bland is going to

(45:06):
be Deron Bland. Trayvon Diggs will see if he gets
healthy when he gets healthy at some point this season,
and then Revel Junior too, you know, can he can
he see the field early and is he going to
be thrust into a starting position? Is he ready for that?
So I think maybe to start, you know, temper your
expectations a little bit. But if this group stays healthy,
I feel like they're going to be much better than
last year's.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
We're talking to Tommy Yarish.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
Make sure you follow him at Tommy Underscore Yarish and
Tommy I wanted to talk about the running back room. Obviously,
with Jade and Blue, we were looking for the Cowboys
to pick up a home run hitter. He is definitely
that they got the young man out of Clemson, but
they've also did some things during the off season and
also return a duce Vold. What are we to expect

(45:50):
out of that running back room when it's all said
and done, you know.

Speaker 13 (45:55):
It's going to be a competition, you know, I think
that right as a stamps. Right now, it looks to
me what is going to be a running back by
committee approach unless somebody during camp just really pops and
you know, establishes themselves as Hey, this this is our
lead back. This is our guy that we're going to
lean on and give you know, fifteen twenty carries a

(46:15):
game to or whatever it may be. This to me
looks like a group where you know they're gonna split
carries and they're gonna be using different situations. So it's
gonna be the interesting part of all right, get who
gets used in those situations? Right I think they carried
three backs last year, and they got a lot more
than three right now. You know, you look at Deuce
fall On, Jaden Blue, philm Osachevontae Williams, and Miles Sanders.

(46:38):
Those are the names that kind of rise to the
top of the list for you, and it's gonna be
a fun competition during camp. I think Jayden Blue, like
you mentioned, Mike us you that home run ability. They
don't have that. Nobody else on the roster. I don't
feel like has the home runability that Jayden can give you.
When you know he gets to the open plot I
was talking with the Shark Choice yesterday. He was in

(47:00):
his praise for Jaden just because you know, he the
comparison has been Jamier Gibbs, and he said, well, there's
a lot of work for Blue in terms of reaching
the Gibbs comparison, But they both are They both are
just so good in the open space. And if you
if you aren't, you know, if you aren't close to
him when he gets free, you're not gonna catch him.
And the Cowboys don't have that on the roster right now.

(47:21):
So he gives you that ability. And then you know,
when you look at who's our ground and pound guy
who can pick up the tough yards and can pick
up the one to two yards when we need it,
is that you know, are the veterans on the roster
like jobviously Williams and Miles Sanders able to do that?
Does Phil Maffa give you a better chance to do
that with his frame? It's gonna be an interesting approach
and it's gonna be an interesting battle in camp. You know,

(47:44):
canduce vawn take the next step and find himself a role.
But I think they're all battling for spots on the
bi committee.

Speaker 12 (47:50):
Approach right now.

Speaker 1 (47:51):
My number one question I should have laid with this,
who's gonna play left tackle?

Speaker 13 (47:59):
I would guess it's Tyler Guidon right now, I think
it's I think they're not giving up on him. I
don't think I think it would be too early to do. So,
you know, I think there were flashes of of of
what you wanted Tyler Tyler Guidon to be, but you
know it's just it's just rookie mistakes and way too
many Rooking mistakes, to be honest with you, that that
he's got to kind of grow out of. So you

(48:20):
know that's going to be one one to monitor during
camp and during the season. I think, you know, if
if he's able to make it through training camp fully
healthy and get all of those reps, I think that's
going to help. And you got to remember last year too,
he was injured during training camp. He missed a lot
of time with injuries and illnesses, and so those are
valuable reps for a rookie to especially who was stressed

(48:41):
into the starting position, to try and learn about. And
you know, you've got to fill the shoes with Tyron Smith,
who I feel like should be a Hall of Famer
here in a couple of years, and it's not easy,
especially for a guy who spent his career playing on
the opposites, UH to give up on Tyler Guidon. But

(49:01):
Brian Schottenheimer sat, hey, we're gonna throw our best five
out there, so if he's not part of the best five,
then you know, you can look at Tyler Smith moving
back to left tackle, where East played. So I feel
like they should try to keep him at left guard
because that's where he's better. But it feels like everything
is going to be on the table if guy, you know,
reach what he needs to reach.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
Last question before we let you go, how close is
Themarvin Overshown to being ready to go at the beginning
of the season.

Speaker 13 (49:28):
I think I don't. I don't expect him to be
ready to go at the beginning of the season. He's
gonna push to be ready by that time, but you know,
you talk about the nature of his injury, and I
think it's going to be you know, it's gonna take
some time for him to get back.

Speaker 9 (49:41):
So I wish I could give.

Speaker 13 (49:43):
You a timetable in terms of you know, hey, this
is his target date. But I don't think the Cowboys
are going to rush it with him. I think they
want him to be at his best when he comes
back at the beginning of the season.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
I got you there.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
He is Tommy Yarsh of Dallas Cowboys dot Com. Make
sure you get over and follow him. Tommy underscore yards
as always.

Speaker 16 (50:04):
Man.

Speaker 3 (50:04):
We'll look forward to having you on again, and we'll
talk to you soon. All right, guys, I appreciate you,
no problem.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
When we come back, we're gonna continue the conversation about
the Texas baseball team and the success that they had
right here on the morning kickoff on sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred the Zone. You didn't think I was gonna
go much longer without talking Texas baseball as they get
the victory over Prairie View A and M eleven to two.

(50:35):
That is ten wins in a row for this Texas
baseball team, and not only that, it is fifteen and
two for the month of April. If you don't know
what's impressive about that, I can't help you. But what
I can do is let you hear from the voice
of the Texas Longhorns, Craig Way, as he described some

(50:57):
of the happenings from last.

Speaker 15 (50:59):
Night back in the first wings of the first pitch,
hitch ball, Well, this went out to right, it's going back,
say good night to it. Will Gasparino ripes this out
of the ballpark and the Longhorns lead at three to one.

Speaker 3 (51:15):
Will Gasparino hit his first.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Home run in nine games, and once he gets going,
that's gonna be good things for the Texas Longhorns. Also,
we'll continue the sounds from Craig Way as my man
eat the Mendoza the heart of this team and why
I call him the heart of the team. When he
has been infused at the top of the lineup, he's

(51:38):
changed the way the game has been played. One of
the most consistent guys on the team, and he did
consistent things last night.

Speaker 3 (51:47):
Here's the pitch. This has hit of the year out
toward right center. This one with some carry on it.

Speaker 15 (51:53):
It'll bounce into the corner rounding third winfield with good speed.

Speaker 3 (51:56):
He's being waved to the play.

Speaker 15 (51:57):
He'll score opposite field RBI double for ethanm and those
increases the Texas League the pourt to one.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
But that's not it.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
They continue to put the pressure on the baseball and
against prayriview A and m and my guy Casey Borba
Bang Bang. He hit that bang bang Bang decides to
drive one out of the park.

Speaker 3 (52:20):
Here's the one ot of Borba.

Speaker 15 (52:22):
East wings it.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
It's the ball.

Speaker 15 (52:23):
Well, this went out to left and you can say
good night to it into the yetty yard, actually beyond.

Speaker 3 (52:29):
The yetty yard.

Speaker 15 (52:31):
Casey Borba drives it out a free run shot and
Texas now leaves it nine to one.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
They lead it nine to one, but they weren't finished.

Speaker 2 (52:41):
A young man who has had his struggles since he's
been on the University of Texas. He came to the
University of Texas. He was supposed to be the starting
left fielder, but some things have kind of happened. But
it was good to see Easton Windfield have a day
at the play.

Speaker 15 (52:58):
Pitch swung on the hit well, this one out to
deep left and you could say good night to him.
Easton Winfield a four for four night and his first
home run.

Speaker 3 (53:10):
As a Texas Loghorn.

Speaker 15 (53:13):
That one opo taco and the log Horns now lead
eleven to two.

Speaker 3 (53:18):
You like tacos, well, he went opo taco for you
and to end the game.

Speaker 2 (53:22):
Texas used four pitchers yesterday, or excuse me, five pitchers
yesterday to complete the eleven to two victory.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
And here's how it sounded.

Speaker 15 (53:32):
One bone, two strikes, two outs. Here's the stretch Howard
with a one two straight three called got him looking
and the ballgame is over. The Lgrns have now won
ten straight and they'll hit for Faithvil Arkansas, coming off
a Tuesday Nights non conference victory in the ninth no runs,

(53:54):
no hits in a man left final score tonight from
UFCU Dish faluk Field, the Texas Longrrns eleven per review
A and m Panthers two.

Speaker 1 (54:03):
Texas continues to find a way to get it done
and now they have a big series by heading to
Arkansas for a Thursday Friday Saturday matchup where Texas.

Speaker 2 (54:15):
On Thursday, it will be at six pm. You can
watch the game on ESPN two. On Friday you can
watch it on SEC Network, and then on Saturday you
can watch it on SEC Network.

Speaker 3 (54:29):
Plus.

Speaker 2 (54:30):
This is a big week, big season for the Texas Longhorns.
And what I mean by that is this is their
best start and I mentioned this earlier when we talk
to Danny Davis. This is their best start since the
two thousand and four season. And what we've been able
to see from this team has been nothing short of amazing.

Speaker 3 (54:51):
You know, we talk about it.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
It could be the Sloss effect, It could be Max
Wiener what he's been able to do. With the pitching staff.
Their era is one of the best in the country.
They throw strike after strike after strike, and they make
you do things you're not comfortable doing. They put you
in a challenge position as the opponent, and to watch

(55:15):
what the pitching staff from top to bottom, the ability
to adjust after injuries.

Speaker 3 (55:24):
Think about this and shout out to win reality.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
Win Reality is the virtual reality glasses goggles metaverse that
can teach you and let you see the picture you're
about to see before you face them. And we talked
about Adrian Rodriguez and him being a switch hitter young freshman,
and I've been talking about the fact that he has

(55:49):
not faced lefty on lefty as a batter in his
career because he's a switch hitter. So if the left
he's on the mountain, bat's right handed.

Speaker 1 (55:58):
There's nothing like confidence, though, and having a coach tell you.
And Coach Loss came on and said, look, I just
told him I know he can do it. Yeah, like
you should know you could do it.

Speaker 2 (56:09):
Well, my point is you go back to the virtual
reality and him being able to look at left handed
pitches through those goggles, being able to track them and
take at bats through those goggles, doing something that he's
not used to doing, and now creating the ability to
stay in on pitches. He's already walked it, he's already

(56:32):
visualized it, he's already seen it, and now for him
to be able to transfer that is something that you
It's invaluable.

Speaker 3 (56:41):
It's invaluable in this virtual reality.

Speaker 1 (56:45):
Is it the picture that's throwing the ball or is
it just a simulation. Well, it's the actual guy.

Speaker 3 (56:53):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (56:54):
Yeah, and you get a chance to face that guy,
see and recognize the pictures just.

Speaker 1 (57:01):
Using your exactly you get a chance to pick it up.

Speaker 2 (57:05):
So shout out to win Reality. There was a story
that was out yesterday about it. I knew about it
because I got a phone call. I'm hardball hard and
I know what's going on with win Reality because not
only is it Texas using it, there's other schools across
the country that have the access to it. And I

(57:29):
said yesterday on my social media, I said, if you're
not using this, you're missing the boat you're missing it
if you want to be You're not gonna be like
great just because, but you are gonna be able to
recognize pitches. You're gonna be able to see the spin
on the baseball. You're gonna be able to know if
it's a ball or a strike, and you're going to

(57:51):
educate yourself if you're young and not using it, or
if you're a college player. Professional guys are part of it.

Speaker 3 (57:58):
They use it too.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
So if there's moments that these guys have sitting around
waiting for their time, waiting for back batting practice, there's
ways to get extra reps throughout that moment. Modern technology
it's amazing.

Speaker 1 (58:13):
Man.

Speaker 3 (58:14):
Can you imagine if like Mark McGuire would have had that.

Speaker 2 (58:18):
Could you imagine if Mike Ridge would if I would
have had that, it would have been a different conversation
as well. So I mean to us, I would definitely
talk to y'all. I'll be talking about how great that
machine is. That's exactly what I'll be doing. But yeah,
there's there's there's things that are out there that have
helped these guys. But more more importantly, when you watch

(58:39):
what they've been able to do on the mound, the
Max Wiener effect. And yesterday people were talking about Max
and Mississippi State fired their head coach, and everybody's trying
to start a GoFundMe to keep Max here for what
he's been able to do.

Speaker 3 (58:56):
I'm I'm thinking he's not going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (58:58):
But I mean money talk, and opportunities present themselves because
of the things that you have been able to succeed with.

Speaker 3 (59:05):
So, just like everything else, they don't go for people
that aren't.

Speaker 1 (59:09):
Doing well in life. They go for people that are
having success, and that is where this team is.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
Texas will take on the number eleven ranked Arkansas Razorbacks.
It's a big series, not only because we're playing Arkansas
their eleventh rank, but these two fan bases are not
friendly to each other.

Speaker 1 (59:28):
Oh, I'm one hundred per cent. There's nobody I hate
worse than Oklahoma but Arkansas. Yeah, Arkansas is one that
I can tolerate. A and M but I can tolerate
but Arkansas.

Speaker 3 (59:42):
No, thank you. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
There's a lot of folks that are looking at that
said and trying to figure out what's next when it
comes to that.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
But big win for the Longhorns.

Speaker 1 (59:53):
Great stuff from Craig Way as always he and Roger Wallace,
not Roger Walla, excuse me, Keith Morland yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
Those guys will be on the road bringing it to
you as well.

Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
One O three one FM is where you're gonna be
able to find those games, and it's important. If not,
get over to the iHeartRadio app and you might be
able to listen.

Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Clear, so clear, this is so clear.

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Coming up next, we got the world's strongest man bringing
you his world's strongest take. And let me just tell
you he is not happy and we'll talk about it
right here on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
This is all well, you know what it is. It's
that time again.

Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
World's strongest Man in w w E Hall of Famer
d Mark Henry brings you his world's strongest take.

Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Take it away, big fellow. All right, yes, sir, you
know what time it is?

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
What Thomas, It's time for the world's strongest take by
the world's strongest man.

Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
My guess back then they didn't know. I mean, now
I'm hot. They are all on me.

Speaker 6 (01:01:04):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
I come to you today with frustration, a little anger,
and most of all, disappointment. We have gotten to the

(01:01:26):
point to where we're desensitized by foolishness, by ignorance, by
people being disrespectful, and we kind of gloss over it
with the well they didn't know better. Well, I mean,

(01:01:48):
you got to act like you've been there before. We
always have something for ignorance and lack of being on
the right side of things. Last night crucial game, Milwaukee

(01:02:09):
Bucks Indianapolis Pacers. Two stars. They step up for their teams,
they're doing the best that.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
They can do. Game ends. There's always going to be
a winner, and there's always going to be a loser.
How you lose dictates how people view you, not just
how you win. I thought that.

Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
The Milwaukee Bucks lost that game with Grace Giannis is
a class act.

Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
He's walking off the court and up to him.

Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
Comes Tyrese Halliburton's dad with a towel that has Tyrese's
face on it, and he's like, take that, that's what
we do.

Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
I don't condone people copying me, but he did it anyway.
Take the l you ef and lost. In an emotional
state of losing uncalled for. I would be comfortable with

(01:03:32):
him not being on the sideline.

Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Until Yanna's thought it was okay for him to be
on the sideline, which would mean he would go a
couple of years if it was me. But I'm not Yannis.
Is I think a class here human. They have got
to do something hard with the families, friends and loved

(01:03:56):
ones of the players. They should never be able to
step on the court. They should know from their family member. Hey,
regardless somebody punched me in the face, don't don't come
on the court.

Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
The way you fix it is the sweet they got.

Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
They got sweets in the stadium. You go to s
Antonio ten rows up from the court, they got little boxes,
little little little hockey uh areas for certain for you know,
businesses and groups put them in there. Coca Cola, some

(01:04:43):
some food restaurant, anywhere they have a sweet, please put
the family in the sweet, but don't put them on
the don't give them access because something bad is gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
You mentioned it. Kevin Durant's mom, nice lady. I met her, but.

Speaker 1 (01:05:04):
People come up to her all the time. Haha, y'all
lost Kevin suck the night. That gets old and you react.
So the best way I think to handle it is
to not have people have access to all of the
parents and friends and family and not put them in

(01:05:26):
a position where they're going to react.

Speaker 3 (01:05:28):
What say you, Well, I mean you know as well
as I do.

Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
When you start to look at excuse me, when you
start to look at the competitiveness of people. People period,
they're all competitive. You know, Katie's mom very competitive. She
knows that her baby's good and she wants to believe
that he can get all things done rightfully.

Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
So not mad at that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
The problem is, to your point, other people, you put
yourself in heart away with other people. Other people don't
have your common sense. Other people have livations in their
body that want to come across.

Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
And forget all sorts of alcohol.

Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Sometimes that's how it leads. Sometimes it leads into that
there's a lot of folks that get fired up for
every little thing, the one thing, the one thing that
I will continue to say, you're not.

Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Playing plan, you're not playing. Yes.

Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
I get fired up for my son and his crew
whenever they're doing stuff and then emotions come out. I'm
not charging the court. Some goes down. They handle it
themselves on the court.

Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
Tell me, oh man, I wish I could just yeah,
but I'm not going out there. That's not for me.

Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Number one, I'm a grown man, like, there's no reason
for me to be out there with these kids. Number Two,
you start to look at how things are playing out.
It goes back to the point that I was making.
These games are so physical, they're they're they're out of control.

(01:07:15):
In a lot of instances, you see the physicality of
the game and how people get frustrated. As a parent,
you're seeing your kid get popped every single time and
no fouls being called. There's there's moments in time where
you're like, this is enough, is enough, and you're too close,

(01:07:37):
You're too and you're way too close.

Speaker 3 (01:07:39):
You're way too close and around.

Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
With a shirt or a towel and putting it in
somebody else's face, especially especially when you talk about the
fact that this is a this is a grown man though,
this is a grown man that you're taunting and that

(01:08:02):
is not what you need to be doing.

Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
Yeah, and Halliburton, I'm glad the way he handled it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
He talked trash, He told him, my dad needs to
not be a part of this, and I talked to
him and I'll make sure that I handle this and
we'll see what happens moving forward.

Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
But at the end of the day. Still he's still
your pops, He's still in the middle of all things.

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
But you gotta make sure that this is taken care of,
because it is important to understand that that could have
got real, real bad.

Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
In most situations. You're thinking about the the.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
Malice in the palace, it could have got real bad quickly.

Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
And you got as I said before, you got to
be more careful. Can't have things like that happen. You
gotta make it happen. We'll close out the show and
send you to Dan Patrick.

Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Coming up next, we'll also continue you a conversation the
Lakers and the Minnesota Timbo Wolves are back at it,
and Luca gets torched by an announcer right here on
the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

(01:09:20):
If you missed any part of the show, all you
got to do is get over to AM thirteen hundred
The Zone on the podcast page and just type in
the Morning Kickoff and you'll go back and get a
chance to listen to our great interview with Danny Davis
as he brought us all the information about the transfers
on the Texas women's basketball team. You can also go

(01:09:41):
back and listen to Tommy Yarsh of Dallascowboys dot Com
as he told us all things about the Dallas Cowboys
and their draft. But I also want you to talk
a little bit Mark about what is going on in
the NBA. Obviously we had the conversation about Tyrese Halliburn.

(01:10:01):
You just did your your world's strongest take on parents
making sure they stay out of the way. As most
of you know, the Boston Celtics defeated Orlando one twenty
to eighty nine. They are now eliminated. The Nuggets win
last night one thirty one to one fifteen against against

(01:10:21):
the LA Clippers. That series is three to two. The Bucks,
as we talked about, lose to the Pacers. They're gone
fishing and Detroit finds a way to defeat the New
York miss Nicks in a tough, tough battle. But the
story continues to be what's going on n LA Tonight?

(01:10:42):
Big matchup, big matchup between the Clippers, I mean, excuse me,
the Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. They tip off at
nine o'clock. You can watch that game on TNT. We
got Golden State in Houston. Jimmy Butler hates I mean
hates with a capitol hey eight Dylan Brooks, but I
don't know who doesn't like Dylan Brooks.

Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
All they did was like him.

Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
Golden State has done a remarkable job with Jimmy Butler
coming back.

Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
From the Bruce Pelvis. But now they get a chance
to get into it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
And also a special shout out to uh Stefan Castle
Rookie of the Year, first time back to back Rookie
of the Year since the Timberwolves had Anthony Wiggins and
Carl Anthony Towns.

Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
That was the last time that two teammates went back
to back in that But the story is about the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
The Lakers are part of that trade that has everybody
in Dallas losing their mind and they're thinking, well, Luca's
gonna get a chance to win the NBA Championship. But
the story was about the lack of defense by Luca.
And I want you to hear Sean Lowe's take on Luca.

(01:11:59):
Donchet's his lack of defense.

Speaker 18 (01:12:02):
Why do you have to get humiliated at the beginning
of every single playoff series before you show the world like, yeah,
I can actually put in a little bit more of
an effort on defense. Because if you go back and
you watch game one and two of that Phoenix series,
he is so bad defensively that it's laughable. And then
all of a sudden he becomes passable. And yet again
here we are, We're four games into this series and

(01:12:24):
he's just helpless. I've said before, like I wouldn't have
done the trade. Almost no one in the NBA would
have done this specific trade. You can find corners of
smart NBA people, team people who would tell you the
idea of getting out ahead of this and trading Luca
is not a crazy idea. The idea of doing it
without shopping him to get nine first round draft picks

(01:12:46):
and swaps and doing this specific trade is where the
logic falls apart. I still think it's a crazy trade,
but I'm just tired of like, I'm gonna be embarrassed
until our backs are against the wall, and then I'm
gonna show you that, yeah, I can put up a
little bit of fun. How about you put up a
fight in like game one of the second round and
now you're down three to one and you're probably going home.

Speaker 3 (01:13:06):
That is the fact. That is the fact that what
Nico was talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
He is a liability. Yes, he's in his prime, Yes
he is so good at scoring. But Mark, if you
score thirty five and I scored thirty five, we're a push.
If you score forty and I score thirty eight, we're
still a push because my teammates are better.

Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
But you gotta have.

Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
Lebron James step up too. Lebron scored zero points in
the fourth quarter. But Lebron might have been tired, and
you already put it on JJ Reddick. So what will
JJ Reddick do tonight?

Speaker 1 (01:13:50):
How about play a center more than five minutes? Jackson
Hayes played five minutes. How about Max Kleeber sitting on
the bench getting eighteen point seven million.

Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
Dollars a year for nothing? How about who else they
got a center? On the Lakers?

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
They have like four, three or four of the guys,
but none of them get They get zero minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
They're playing Hachie.

Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
Mora and Vanderbilt and uh Dorian Finney Smith all of
six eight.

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Yep, they trying to get them right, but it's not working.

Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
If you're gonna play small, run right, let Lebron sit
down for three minutes at a time. Lady, you're gonna
you're gonna have to run again in about you know,
twelve fourteen minutes, We're gonna run you again.

Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Is that gonna be the difference now? Because of the
they gave him.

Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
The coaches gotta make the coaches got to make better
play personnel alignments, and Lebron is forty years old. You
cannot expect him to play the entire game.

Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
Look, I was a fan, I'm still a fan of
Lebron James. I think he's done amazing things in his career.
I think he's been he's.

Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
A human.

Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
Contributor to all of the success that a lot of
teams have had that he's been on.

Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
But you're right, he's forty years old.

Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
He may be in great shape, he may look phenomenal,
but you are still tired. And for JJ Reddick to
have that man play the they played five people the
whole second half.

Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
I know five and I cried. I know you did.
I'm sensitive by my team.

Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
We'll see a little trickle coming down right now as
we talk about it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:55):
JJ Reddick has got to do a better job with that,
with that alignment.

Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
He just gotta do better.

Speaker 12 (01:16:01):
Well.

Speaker 13 (01:16:01):
