because Michigan, you have a problem, and it is a
(02:19):
huge problem. For those that don't know, Michigan went through
a situation yesterday. It is a situation because now they
are looking for a new head coach Searon Moore, who
took over for Jim Harbaugh when Jim Harbaugh had a suspension.
(02:40):
He did well. Now he's the head coach and now
he's looking for a job mark because of so he's
definitely looking for a job, lawyer. It's unemployed, So that
makes you look for a job.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Well, he's unemployed.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Just that. Yeah, I think that he's got bigger problems
in getting another job.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Well, he definitely does have that. I will give you that.
But this is not good.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
It's not good. And that's that nervous laugh. That's not
like a laugh like, oh, that's funny, it's naugh like, wow, yeah,
what in the same hill of beans just happened?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
For those that are been sleeping under a rock and
not paying attention to anything that is going on in
college football, Sharon Moore has been fired from as the
head coach of the University of Michigan for with with
casts with call, which is which is a big deal
when it comes to payouts. He has been fired with
(03:47):
calls for having an inappropriate relationship with a staffer and
allegedly allegedly the staffer is pregnant. Number one number two,
he's married with three kids. Number three. His wife kicked
(04:07):
him out, obviously, and he went to the staffer's house
and broke into it and held them at knife point,
Her and him.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
And the reason why.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
It was all came to a head and came to
an end.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
He had his location.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
On his phone and his wife was able to call
the police to go and find where he was.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I didn't do this stuff. This is not me, y'all.
A fight for my life, yo, you did yeah, yeah,
yeah you did it. Yeah yeah, you know you.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Did it, which is why this has been brewing for
quite some time now.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I'm not making light of the situation, and nor.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Do well I'm going to at some point. My question
to you is what eleven and one Sharon Moore.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Be fired?
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Or is it the one that hadn't been to the
college football playoffs? Is it the one that it didn't
beat Ohio State this year?
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Is it that guy? It's that guy?
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yeah, it's that guy, because I'm gonna tell you he
leveny one he in the college football playoffs? Yes, yes,
they like listen, man, there ain't a rud big enough
for us to this under like, man, let me let
it go. Give me all right, let's fix it behind
the scenes. That's what would have happened. But that's not
(05:45):
what happened, and a lot of a lot of people
didn't even want him in the first place. The reason
that he had the job was was a clause in
the contract that Hardball put out. He put in his
contrac track that if by chance something happens to me
or I get released on fired, that Sharon Moore gets
(06:09):
a chance at being a head coach here at Michigan.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
And I mean it must have been in a small print,
because you would have thought that they would have got
rid of him before Howball got in trouble.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
They was trying to keep that from happening. Well that's
the thing for me.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Look at what's been going on with the University of Michigan,
going back to Connor stallions, going back to improper recruiting violations.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
I've seen you a clip of like all the things
that happened.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
And you start and this is the Warde manual. Is
the athletic director, and he said, following a university investigation,
credible evidence was found that Schmart I mean, coach Moore
engaged in an inappropriate relationship with the staff man this
conduct constituted a clear violation of university policy, and um
(07:07):
maintained zero tolerance in such behavior. Now More has been
at the university since twenty eighteen, he was on Jim
Harbaugh staff, and since the team went seventeen and eight
during his time there, including going nine wins this season,
(07:27):
it was time for them to make a change.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Now.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
I believe in talking to some people from Michigan and
people that follow Michigan very closely, they believe that he
was going to get fired after next season because.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Of the buyout would be gone, so they were going
to keep them.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Obviously, recruiting was going on. You have to have signing day,
you have all the things that are going on, so
you want to keep your head coach in place because don't.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Forget, Michigan has a huge for recruiting.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
They have a lot of money that is coming into
that university, including Barstool, who is big at the University
of Michigan. And now behind the scenes, people were trying
to make it happen and now he's an unemployed football coach.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Well, I mean they had five guys hard in the
last three years get fired or terminated from their contracts
for just the dui. They had one get released for
being a pervert. He was watching people. So you gotta
(08:45):
go and now you have Sharon Moore and it's stay
tuned to see what you find out next about all
of this that's happening because not only did he break
in and hold the young woman that was the staffer
(09:07):
at knife point, he also put the knife to his
own throat and threaten to do his self harm. He's
got bigger issues than finding another coaching job to just
say that, well, yeah he's a football coach, that's the
(09:28):
least of it.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yes, he's got to worry about his family.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
He's got so many different things that are going on.
He was earning five point six million dollars in the
second year of a five year contract. You start looking
at who he is as an individual, and now people
probably have had this on him for quite some time.
(09:52):
I don't think this was something that just happened overnight.
They obviously have been working on this. They wanted to
see this happen. They just away for cause and now
they have the call, so they put in Biv pod
Pogi I think it's his name as the interim head coach.
He's a guy that's been in the program, he's been around,
(10:12):
He's coached a lot of ball in his day. He
is going to lead this team into By the way,
they have a game against the University of Texas on December.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
The thirty first.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
And now the biggest question is how many people are
going to opt out?
Speaker 3 (10:28):
How many people do you?
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Are you going to try to keep in the out
of the transfer portal because now people are truly, as
coach Shark said, digging into that locker room and trying
to poach some players. Of course you are, I know
you in there. You've already tried to get some people
out of there. But the bigger question is what does
(10:50):
Michigan do now? This is probably one of the top
jobs in football, not just college football. The University of
Michigan is a blue blood and most of the time,
as we've heard throughout the years, they want.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
A Michigan man. They want a Michigan man.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
You might have to go outside of the Michigan to
find somebody. Yeah, and it's gonna be interesting there.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
What do you think about that? No, not at all,
not at all. Not that Brian Kelly is stained right now.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
He his scandal should have been this it should have
been this that people would have been like, oh, Brian Kelly.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Yeah, but they swept here under that carpet that we
were talking about.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Now he's the one trying to get fifty four million
dollars out of LSU. Give me my money, run it.
Charum ain't getting that. Just give me some help. When
we come back, we're gonna continue these conversations. There's a
lot to unravel when it comes to this, and we'll
figure out who the names are to be the new
Michigan head coach. Right here on a Thursday Thursday edition
(11:57):
of The Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
to Zone and always free on the iHeartRadio app. Welcome
back to the Morning Kickoff right here on Sports Radio
AM thirteen one hundred the Zone and always free on
the iHeartRadio App. Coming up at seven thirty four, we'll
have our guy, Eric Henry of Horns two four to
seven to break down the Long Horns.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Both football and basketball.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
But we will also continue the conversations about what is
going on in Michigan. Michigan Wolverine's head coach Sharon Moore
has been relieved of his duties for an inappropriate relationship
with a staffer, and now college football is in an uproar.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
We got this on our YouTube page just.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
A little while ago, talking about what is going on
in college football. We've got college coaches going from one
team to another. You also have players getting ready to
go in the transfer portal. You got teams deciding they're
not going to go to bowl games and just avoiding
it all. And now we're dealing with a coaching scandal
(13:09):
that goes back to again. Michigan was already in trouble
before for alleged cheating incidents with excuse me, Connor Scallions,
and they did a documentary he was dressing out with
other teams.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Wearing their garb on the sideline.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
To steal signals, and Searon Moore had to deal with
the suspensions because Jim Harbaugh decided to go to the NFL,
so he didn't have to deal with that, so more
sticks around.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
He has to get the suspension.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
He's been out multiple games and now they're getting ready
to play the University of Texas in a bowl game
on New Year's Eve two o'clock. You can hear the
game here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred to Zone
and always free on the iHeartRadio app. And now they're
trying to keep the team together to even play in
(14:10):
this game.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
This is a guy with just a questionable moral compass.
The two games suspension self imposed two games suspension spoke
to the fact that he was trying to get ahead
of his.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Failure to do the right thing.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
All of these talents right now, currently in this situation
have the right to leave.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
They with calls.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Michigan is in a lot of trouble of being a
bargain basement team in the Big ten or in a
you're right, the Big ten. All right, So now people
are gonna it's there's a mass exodus that's about to happen.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
I would disagree with that. It's the University of Michigan.
They're gonna be okay. They're gonna get a coach that
will be able to hold a lot of these guys.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Will some people leave.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Absolutely, there's people leaving with coaches that are already out
there school.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
So there's not nothing that's gonna be new.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Like I said, they're nil will keep a lot of
people together.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Nil will do that for you. Number one.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
There may be a few guys that leave. As I said,
there's guys leaving the University of Texas right now, and
we got our coach. So there's that that that's nothing
new to me. Michigan will be a bump, maybe they
won't be down long. It's the University of Michigan that
is a blue blood when it comes to football. They're
(15:51):
not gonna They're not gonna bring somebody in to help
this program fail. Football will not. Of course, that's what
I'm saying. It's it's there will. There'll be some people leaving.
I'm not disagreed.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
The reason I said what I said was the fact
that there are guys that already had issues and wanted
to get out of there.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
And they just didn't have a reason to.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Now there's guys that are gonna be able to say, listen,
I'm just gonna go play somewhere else. I don't want
to be under this this scandal, and they're gonna leave,
like I don't know if it was a fake post
or Underwood might be leaving like I mean, they just
got a quarterback, and think about how not having the
(16:38):
guy that you put the most energy into keeping or getting.
Now that person is leaving and that coach is gonna
have to.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Start all over.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah, your Michigan is gonna get some guys, But at
what cost?
Speaker 3 (16:55):
How long is it gonna take for him to jail?
You think that one spring.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
And summer training camp is gonna get it done before
next season?
Speaker 3 (17:08):
I don't. I don't. I don't see why it wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Again, they're not just getting people off the bottom of
the heap.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
This is Michigan. I don't see.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Okay, I understand where you're going with this, but you're
gonna tell me that Michigan is going to fail like that,
like they're gonna be that bad.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
They're gonna be that bad.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
I don't see it happening well to be determined, But
what I do know is they've got to clean house.
They've got to straighten up what's going on at Michigan
because Michigan has been dealing with scandal for quite some
time now.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
That is leadership.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
And if your leadership at the top, which some people
are looking that the AD may be on his way out,
which I wouldn't be shocked by that.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I wouldn't either, I would not be shocked by that.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
So now the process is beginning, because I guarantee you
they knew that they were going to fire this guy.
Wasn't an overnight deal, so they have probably already been
working to find the next coach to be at Michigan.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Well, there has been some some leakage of Alabama's coach,
the boor being one of the people that was spoke
to months ago, right, Like, that's probably because everybody in
Alabama was trying to get rid of They were talking
about if they wanted the lottery, they were going to
(18:43):
buy him out, to get him out, seventy million dollars buyout.
So does Michigan have that kind of money to go
get Kaylen to boar?
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Do people even like Kaylin de Boer? I mean, I
wouldn't think so, but that's the deal. Like, so, what
is the answer for placing a coach?
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Because I don't answer.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Like you said before, a lot of people didn't want
your role more in the first place, so he was
already up against it. So for them, and as a
person that knows that they don't want you, how you
mess that up? How you mess up five point six
million dollars never lost?
Speaker 3 (19:20):
That's why undefeated? Yeah it is Andy and he found
yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
So you start to look at this entire situation. And
now does this open up Pandora's box in college football?
Are you looking for more things on coaches or are
people that may not agree with the coaching staffs. Are
they trying to dig up stuff? I know that people
were trying to dig up stuff on Herman.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Charlie.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
There's so much and that's just here, that's not.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Even at some.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Other schools across country. But that's why I always say,
be careful when you start casting these stones at people,
because they will try to dig up stuff on you.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
So be careful, be careful out there.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Well, I mean, you just look at the success that
Sarkas had and people have been throwing rocks at him,
and he's been a mastellar guy. You know. I just
hate the fact that people pinpoint and try to target
to tarnish you. The last thing you need to do
is tarnish yourself. Yeah, Like, we gotta have a little
(20:34):
bit of restraint.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
We have to.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I mean, without the rules, we live with the savages.
And that's exactly what it looks like, and it's a
bad look.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
I told you that.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
When I came into pro wrestling, Ernie Ladd came up
to me and said, don't mess it up for everybody
else after you, and luckily enough for me, I had
good leadership. I had people steer me in the right direction.
But what about the guys that don't and they're lift
to their own device. That's when you have issues like
(21:12):
what we have right now. It's obvious that coach Harball
was not screening people well. With the eight people that
he has in the last three years being terminated by
the university, that's bad, man, that's a bad record. You
(21:35):
got said, well some more is the eighth, but seven
prior the year before he left, and that's what that's horrible.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Yeah, it's a it's a tough look for for everybody
that is involved.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Fel sorry for Michigan fans, Yeah, I do.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
I do. They don't deserve that.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
They don't deserve what they woke up to this morning, yesterday,
yesterday afternoon, Yeah, yeah, yesterday when I called you.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
They knew that.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Coming up next, we've got our guy Eric Henry of
Horns two four seven as he breaks down the Texas
long Horns and the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team, as
well as they travel to Yukon and a big matchup tomorrow.
Right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred to Zone
and always free on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
It's Thursday, so you know what we do. We go
and get our.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Guy, Eric Henry of Horns two four seven. You can
follow him at Eric c Henry Underscore on social media.
And you know, e we could obviously talk about the
Michigan situation.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
It's a little bit.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Different, and I don't want to stay on that too long,
But what was your initial thoughts when when you heard
the news that the head coach of the team that
Texas is about to play in the Cheese It Bowl
is now being relieved of his duties because of something
had had nothing to do with being on the field.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
As always, good morning, appreciate y'all having me on. All right, Look,
so I'm not gonna do the thing that you've seen
a lot of people immediate do right now, just like
I heard this was gonna happen, and I knew, like,
all right, if you heard it was gonna happen, then
report it right, you know.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
And I say that hard.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
I mean there are listen, there are things in this
job that you hear, but they're so sensitive you can't
really report. But for the people who are trying to
come out and be like, I knew this is gonna happen,
so on and so forth. Now I'm saying that to
say to be transparent, you hear so much stuff doing this.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
I did hear.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
That Michigan might try to fire Sharon more with cause
I did not know it was this. I want to
be very clear, I didn't know the details of this.
So to answer your question, my first my first reaction
wasn't shocked when the news came out through it was fired.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
It wasn't shocked when the news came out that he
was gonna fire with cause.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
The ensuing three hours was I don't have words for it, right,
and you know, you hope crash out, crash out, and unfortunately,
you know, you know both y'all have kids, right, I
hope one day I'll be privileged enough to have kids.
There's three kids who are going to have to deal
with the fact that their father is You know, this
isn't a I'm gonna go to a G five. I'll
(24:18):
be out of a job for a year, go to
a G five, and then bounce back. Right this and
for all intents and purposes, is probably a career killer.
So I hope for all the people involved that you know,
things work out well as best as they can. But
to answer your specific question, hard, I wasn't shocked when
I heard that he was fired or fired with cause,
because I had heard rumors, right, But the ensuing three
(24:40):
hours were just mind boggling.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Yeah, no doubt, no doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Well, let's get back to the forty acres because there
has been some movement on the forty acres obviously with
the transfer portal, the relieving of duties and not for
anything that we know of, love Chad Scott at the
running back position. Now, what is next for the Texas
Longhorns as they begin to prepare for that matchup against
(25:05):
Michigan and the cheese At Bowl.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Yeah, I mean what's next for Texas?
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Here's the thing that's different than the last two years, right,
is they're not gearing up for a playoff run.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Why do I say that It seems like I'm staying
in the obvious.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Well, all of the focus really is on next season, right,
And of course Texas is appearing to win this game,
and they want to win this game as the Sarkeshan
is noted, you know, the op Betuween to win ten
games for the first time is two thousand and seven
to two thousand and nine. But with that being said,
the focus of all of the front office is on
retooling this roster for next year. Right, So if you
(25:38):
ask me what is next, I think identify and continue
to identify who may be on this roster next year.
Who may whether it's of their own volition, they may
try to go to the transfer portal, or it's a
conversation where you know, the staffs is, hey, we want
to move on, right, Remember Mark and Harje the sec
did or I should shouldn't say they did it. It's
(25:58):
in the works that they are going to go from
eighty five to one hundred and five scholarships. That's gonna
give you twenty more spots, and of course Texas doesn't
have to fill all one hundred and five, right then
they can go up to ninety five.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
And so they'll keep walking. Steve sarkig And has said
he likes walk ons.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
But in essence, they're gonna have more scholarships to work with, right,
so that gives them more room to go to the portal,
to beef up the offensive line, to beef up the
defensive line, so I'll be interested to see how they
do it. I'll just say this real quick. We'll have
the opportunity. I you know, I think last week I
was of the belief that, hey, Texas needs to go
out and just find the best guard and center they
(26:34):
can find, right they that money can buy because there
are no rules around the states.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Get the best one. There you go.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
I've kind of flipped my thinking a little bit, and
I think Texas can go out and get the best
group of five guard and center. Right, someone who mark
this is right up your alley offensive line play. The
reason a lot of those guys end up at the
group of five level is because their body just isn't
ready to at the powerfile level.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
It's not the talents, they just need a little more shaping.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
If you can get the best group of five guarden center,
someone who maybe not for two or three years, is
ready to play at Texas, you can then allocate more
money to getting the skill position guys at running back,
at receiver, at tight end, so that arch Manning truly
has the requisite weapons all across the board. I'm not
saying you downgraded offensive line or you skim I'm just
(27:25):
saying maybe you don't have to go pay you know,
two million dollars for a guard or a center when
maybe you can get one for five hundred thousand and
you can go get a cam Coleman or a Jaden
Bab Right, So you have those type of weapons around
arch Man.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Well, that's great, But just like.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
The skill position players, there's some offensive tackles and centers
and guards too that it's like having a good three
to three point shot. It's like being able to thread
the needle with a with a with a throw to
fifteen yards to the sideline, like it's a talent. And
(28:03):
just getting a bunch of group of five guys is
uh is not going to get it done. You go
out and get the proven guy. You look right here
in this situation with Michigan, they had an honorable mention
All America and they had All American like it now's
the time to go test the waters. Hey, guys, how
(28:25):
you feeling about being there?
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Still?
Speaker 5 (28:29):
You know?
Speaker 3 (28:29):
We we we.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Have we have, we're we got offer the same thing
like that's that's not tampering. That's given a that's given
another option and and and two of the guys are
from Texas.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
So why why not Mark, I don't. I don't disagree
with you. Right.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
And to be clear, if that's the route that Brandon
Harris is the Sarcasian went, I'd have no issue with it.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Let me give you an example.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
Right, a few years back, name you guys both remember
Calvin Anderson started his career at Rice, came to Texas,
started one year, and they're getting drafted by the New
York Jets. My point is, if you can find value,
and it's not saying sacrificing talent, right, Calvin Anderson stepped
in and was an excellent Big twelve.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Level right tackle.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
Right, I'm saying, find someone who is more than adequate
enough to play at the SEC. But maybe you don't
have to sing all of your funds because you only
have so much money you could work with. Right, they
allocated so much money to each position. If you can
find someone who at least can step in be Hayden Connor, right,
that's no disrespect to Hayden Connor or Jake Major's right.
No one's confusing them with Calvin Banks, but their starting
(29:40):
level SEC offensive lineman. That then allows you to go
out and get Could you imagine a cam Coleman on
the other side of Ryan Wingo, you know, an excellent
tight end in that offense, a Jaden Baugh in the backfield.
So that's that's just kind of where I'm I'm kind
of at as far as different ways you could do this,
but I don't think there's any wrong way.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Yeah, we're talking to Eric Henry of Horns two four seven.
Make sure you follow them at Eric c Henry Underscore
e Texas Men's Basketball. You and I had an opportunity
to talk to coach Miller yesterday, and you know, the
the theme was effort yesterday.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Effort, effort, effort.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
And now they're going up against a team in Yukon.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
That is all about effort.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
What are you going to be looking for in this
game against Yukon tomorrow night?
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Yeah, harje.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
You know, I thought after the win over Southern, I
thought Sean Miller would be in a great mood. Right
after aligning over fifty percent shooting and against Division one
opponents NC State, Arizona State, Virginia and forty nine percent
from three. You know, they go out and blast Southern,
but Sean Miller called out something that's obvious. They're fouling
way too much. They're averaging just under twenty fouls per game.
(30:51):
They can't get into SEC play and put teams on
the line. You know that I have kept twenty fouls
and put teams on the line eighteen nineteen twenty times
a night, right.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
So what am I looking for?
Speaker 4 (31:01):
I'm looking to see a how can these bigs play
against Alex Caravan who put up twenty four to ten
last year against Texas. How can the Guards play against
Silas Demri who put up twenty six and eight eight
assists against Texas last year when he was with Georgia.
Can they do it without fouling? And can Modus vocatitis?
You know, Modas is an excellent player, very hot tempered.
(31:23):
You see him get frustrated with some guys out throughout
the quarter. I wouldn't want, you know, the big look,
the way they come after me, tell you that much
right now. But you know, can he maintain his composure
when he's not getting the ball, because you saw what
Virginia did.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
They just denied him the ball and his game.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Was all out of wax. So I want to see
that's those are the things I'll be looking for. You
hope that Texas can play And my thought prior to
the Virginia game, was this is like another Duke game, right,
they played Duke tough for twenty minutes? Can they go
out and play Yukon tough for thirty forty minutes? Now
after the Virginia game, you kind of take a step back,
(31:59):
and I you, this is another litmus test for this
team to see where they are at. If they get
the win, that'd be great. Listen, Excel Center, it is
a tough place to play. You kind is thirty and four.
Over the last five years at Excel Center, they have
not lost there and excuse me, haven't lost there since
twenty twenty two. So it's gonna be a tough billing
to play in. But I just look at his another
(32:20):
litmus test right now, Harje.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
And I'm with you on that.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
The litmus test will definitely be Yukon national champion, back
to back national champions and continues to push the envelope
with those bigs and of course that guard play as always. Man,
we appreciate you. You'll be sitting in tomorrow. I appreciate
you taking the time to hop on the show with
(32:44):
me tomorrow. Man, Henry for Henry, that's right, Henry tag
out Man Tag Team Champions.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Thanks Bro anytime, fel appreciate Joe there. He is Eric
Henry of Horns two for seven.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
When we come back, we'll hear about the Texas women
and what they were able to, especially one of those
players yesterday in their matchup against ut RGV. Right here
on the morning kickoff All Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
to zone and always free on the iHeartRadio out.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
And outside the Carlton. Right away, Justice knocks down the
three Madison to dribble of the right side, guarded by
Angiolett cut off to the base. Simen, still trying to
back her down, spins, turns, fade away, jump her good
and she's foul. Harmon flips it into the corner Madison
Booker driving baseline, wrap around past to Carlton. Justice scores
and she's foul into the front court Ingram from left
to right, bounce past to nobody except Harmon, who stolen it.
(33:36):
Was about to go out of Mounts and Rory picked
it up and she'll glide in for the layout. Texas
with a twenty six to twelve leegu one twenty five
gonna steal by Harmon worked it inside the old Acre
goes up strong and scores off the glass, rattled in
and out book of the Texas rebound flips into Harmon
into the front court. Here's Rory back. It goes to
book stops pops it drops from seventeen on the left side,
(33:58):
six on the shot clock off the Jeordie Lee. Lee
puts her head down, drives in. They got a hurry
down the two down the one. Booker passed it back out.
They got the shot away and Lee HiT's a three,
seven point fifteen remaining first had passed stolen by Harmon.
Here's Rory, She'll drive in and score. Dumps it in the corner.
Carlton shot fake on the three. That's down the five
in the Cunningham and Traffick turns, shoots, stores, score the
(34:21):
basket and one out to the baseline. Pass goes back
out front, stolen by Printer. Here's Grace driving from right
to left, back to right off the glass. He scores
Kyla off to graves Sarah outside into the corner. Grace
Printer a three pointer op. No good there it is
the rebound by Booker, follow shot god time out Texas.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
He's done it.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
Madison Booker with.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Her first career triple.
Speaker 6 (34:49):
Double and punctuates it with a follow up basket off
threebound one oh five forty five. Booker twenty eight points,
ten rebounds, ten assists, first triple double of her career. Wow,
that what again?
Speaker 3 (35:07):
I mean.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
Him to the front court, Sophia Zoofelt will operate the
drimble ten seconds to go. Zoo Felt will back it
out six seconds five and.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
That's gonna do it.
Speaker 6 (35:24):
Texas long Worne cume to the valley and to teach
eut Rio Grand Valley. The final score in Texas won
ten and utrgv forty five. And the other big story
tonight the first career triple double for Madison Booker as
she adds twenty eight points, ten rebounds and ten assists.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Man, that's impressive because you look at what Madison Booker
has been able to do at the University of Texas
and for her to have her first triple double as
a Texas Longhorn, there's only five women that have ever
had a triple double and she is now one of them.
It is great for Madison Booker, is great for this
basketball team. But Madison Booker had a chance to talk
(36:10):
to Craig Way after the matchup and spoke about her
excitement and how glad she was to do it with
her teammates.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
Got to ask you this because we were keeping track
of it starting in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
When did you become aware?
Speaker 6 (36:23):
When did somebody make you aware of the fact that
you were closing in on the triple double?
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Fourth quarter of Levato.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
You know, teld me I was three is I think
three is two rebounds away?
Speaker 3 (36:33):
But you see it to me a home fourth quarter,
get that?
Speaker 5 (36:35):
But no, I mean my line is we have fun
and I got half all my teammates doing it too,
So I think this is gonna be a very very
special triple double for me.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
Yeah, I started to say, the first one's always really.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Special for sure. For sure, it's fun.
Speaker 6 (36:49):
Yeah, and you've gotten closed a couple of times, so
I have. And in given the fact that you guys
played so well in the first quarter, I know Coach
wasn't real pleased with the second and the third, but
then you guys look like he kicked it back in
the high gear in the four.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
Yeah, I mean, coach, Coach metches message is simple, you know,
just keep beating me, humble, stay locked in for all
forty minutes. You know, there's gonna be some other team
that's you know, really good for all forty minutes. So
we got to also master energy and kind of also
second half, just come just like come out strong, you know,
don't be kind of you know, very lazy, very you know,
(37:23):
just out there moving the flow. I think, you know,
with this team, our first five minutes, it's going to
show you know, our opponent, you know, what's the matches
and how are coming. I think that's what coach Everyone's
would do every time we come out.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
You know, I asked him about the deal about you
getting it in the suspense. He goes, I wanted to
hurry up and get her because I wanted to get out,
and you kept knocking down shots. Yeah, and then on
that last sequence there when you come down, you know,
what did he get into your mind when you're just
the one rebound way?
Speaker 3 (37:48):
I gotta I gotta figure this out?
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Well, yeah, I was like, man, I gotta get a board.
But then they kept pitting shots, and then we kept
hitting shots, and you know when Grace, you know, I'm sorry, Grace,
but you had to miss out three.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
I was thinking you had three and I was trying
to track in the air. But no, thank you for
grace for for evound right there.
Speaker 6 (38:05):
Yeah, and then and then you able to hit the
foul shot after putt exclamation.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
That was kind of core right there. Actually it worked worked, Yeah,
I knew it was going in. Thanks for time, book
appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
All right. Madison Booker.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
They're Madison Booker, great energy, great entertaining player. But she
seems to be an excellent person, an unbelievable person. Excuse me,
you're talking about having fun. You can see them having fun.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
And it's not just because they were winning by thirty
points at the time, but like they were running up court,
like seeing who could beat the other person of court.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
They competing on simple stuff.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
So when it gets to the hard stuff, it don't
seem so hard.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
Yep, they were out there. They were out there having
a good time.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Man.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
Watch Texas moves to eleven and oh and they have
a big test against Baylor Bears this Sunday up in
Fort Worth. They win the game one hundred and ten
to forty five. Our number one is in the books.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Up heare of tickets for December the sixteenth versus lemoy As.
Texas comes back after the game against Ukon all right,
let's get into this, because yesterday the news became official.
Philip Rivers, oh Man River is now officially a Indianapolis Cup.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
All right, no, sooner, let's go.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
You wanted to interrupt him and let him know that
it wasn't good for him to be up there, But
I want you to hear what Rivers had to say
about being back into the NFL, his age and everything
else that has to do with him being back as
the quarterback for the Indianapolis coach.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
What if you're playing wait, what do you waiting right now?
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Right this second? I'm not sure?
Speaker 7 (41:09):
Y how about that?
Speaker 3 (41:13):
That's an honest.
Speaker 8 (41:13):
Answer, And I will answer your question a little better
on the playing away Greg and not not what it
was when I walk up the film muffalo. All right,
I'll tell you that, but but then I'll follow that up.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
With I ain't never run away from anybody anyway.
Speaker 8 (41:27):
So so I'm they you know, people say, well, they're
know you're gonna be right there, and it's like, well
they knew that for sixteen seventeen years.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
So yeah, he wasn't running away from people when he
was at his playing well, I know, like running away
from people. That's horrible man right now. I mean, nothing
changes for him. He's never been an elusive quarterback, and
what do you expect a forty four year old man
who has been out of football, that has been coaching,
got twenty five thousand kids that he's taken care of,
(41:56):
and he's been able to go back and play a
game that he loves. The truth of the matter is
the reason why Philip Rivers and some of the other
players quarterbacks in the league didn't get the phone call
is because Philip Rivers coaches his high school team and
they run the Indianapolis Coach offense, so he's very engaged
with the offense. He talks to Shane Steichen once a week.
(42:19):
He had been talking to him once a week, and
when this all went down, he was like, man, I
wonder if Shane's gonna call me about playing quarterback for them,
And sure enough, he ends up calling him to come
in and play quarterback. He's been a part of that offense.
He knows the city. But the truth of the matter
is he's a forty four year old quarterback who now
(42:40):
is a.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Semi finalist for the Hall of Fame and now it's
been pushed back again. So he's got a wait another
five years now before he can m care.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
But when you play the game, when you play the
game and you know this, you have a chance to
be immortalized forever.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
It doesn't matter if you care. Think about the story
in five years. In five years, the story will be, Hey, yeah,
he should have been in there five years ago, but
he got a call at home, sitting on the couch
coaching the high school football team, hanging out playing golf.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
With his buddies.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
Whatever the story is, he had an opportunity to go
play again at forty four years old in the NFL.
Speaker 9 (43:31):
You gonna see how much he care once he get
that first hit exactly. Hey, listen, four years old four football.
I told my wife yesterday, all out blitzed. Everybody gonna
be on the line of scrimmage. He's gonna have to
he's gonna have to.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
Make a really, really pretty pass. But I'm sending them.
Speaker 2 (43:52):
I'll let you know it's coming all out.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Get away from it.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Been running like he I don't think that he's had
enough reps yet.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
He hasn't, and he won't get.
Speaker 2 (44:08):
Enough reps at practice to get him acclimated before next week.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
Yeah, this is before this weekend. This is crazy. Just
if Sam Ellinger is right there.
Speaker 6 (44:22):
He's not.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
He's in Denver, Salmon's and deh that's right. They did trade.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
Salmon's in Denver. And you can't make moves, you can't trade.
You can't find people that are free agency. Why not
get Taylor Heinike?
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Why not? Cam? Newton said, why not him? Why not? Camp?
Speaker 2 (44:36):
Camp's younger? And is I guarantee you shan't. Cam is
in better street. All you gotta do is look at
his social media. So I'm saying, trains like a man. Man,
He's still throwing the.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
Ball, That's what I'm saying. Like, how how up forty
four years old? You got this man out there? You
talk about this?
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Caepernick said, he's been having workouts for the last two years.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
Why not make a call to him? But you're gonna
go get a forty four year old.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
Guy that's been standing up as matter of fact, Marcus,
let's let's let's hear how excited he is to play football.
Speaker 8 (45:09):
They've been very supportive. You know, I think my younger
children are most excited. I shouldn't say most excited. They're
excited because they don't remember dad playing, you know, My
six year old actually asked me like four months ago, like, Dad.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Why don't you play anymore?
Speaker 8 (45:21):
And I'm like, I'm sorry, that's you're gonna get his
me coaching on the sideline, you know, because they were seeing,
you know, a highlight or they're pulling up some of
you know, old games. Uh, my boys were fired up, obviously,
but I think share the same sentiment a little nervous,
like Dad, you can do you think you can do it?
Speaker 5 (45:35):
You know.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
And then my older.
Speaker 8 (45:37):
Girls are real excited because they're they're a little bit confused,
you know, they're like, shoot, I was twelve, you know
some of them, you know, now all of a sudden
they're grown adults, married and and and they remember sixteen
years old going to the ball game. So it's uh,
it's been, it's been. It's been a whirlwind for forty
eight hours. I'll say, unbelievable. Unbelievable that this is what
(45:58):
is happening. Somebody just said, too, why not call Cole McCoy.
Here's somebody that is wow. You know what I'm saying, like,
what are we doing? I like Philip Rivers.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
He was one of my favorite fantasy football players because
I knew I was getting yards every single game.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
I knew, I knew he wasn't gonna get me no
rushing yards.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
I love the fact that that Philip rivers. He doesn't
cuss right right, so he he but he does talk
a lot of trash, and he used to go and
really get under these guys skin. And I love that
in a player, and his team always gravitated to him.
He's a good leader of men. I think that that
(46:38):
is another thing that they're relying on. They're relying on
him to come in and calm the storm.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
Guys are hurt, and I'm I'm I'm by far not
the National Guard, but I'm gonna get us on the
right thing.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
Even Junior r O t c coming in with why
are you starting shot?
Speaker 1 (47:00):
Said him like that, he's forty four, he has not
played football.
Speaker 3 (47:07):
Why not call Tom Brady? Why not call Tom Brady?
Speaker 2 (47:10):
We know Tom Brady's in shape well because of him,
I can't use him.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
I'm listening listen as I said, Oh my, Tony Romo
got good sense. Tony Romo ain't answering that call.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Thing is a brave dude, He's brave. I gotta give
it to him and well, a threat to your point?
Speaker 1 (47:34):
What threat is he going to be out there? He
even came in and they gave him his number back.
Daniel Jones got a torn achilles and they was like,
hey man, you can wear number seventeen, do you? What's
what's the movie any given Sunday?
Speaker 3 (47:50):
What his name? Cap? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (47:52):
Cap?
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Yeah, that's him out there, Burt Reynolds in the Longest
Yard coming out, no remake, like, what what are we doing?
Speaker 3 (48:01):
Oh my goodness, gracious, And this is a team that
is eight and five.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
And have a chance to try to get into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
I still think that the logical choice would have been
Cam Newton.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
You know what, I'm gonna pick him up on my
fantasy league this week.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
I'm yeah, I'm gonna pick him up just because I'm
out the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
I'm not in. I'm out. I was gonna ask you
how your fantasy Why? Why are you bringing up my stuff?
I'm just being concerned, like are you Yes?
Speaker 2 (48:34):
I was, actually, but now now I'm not the way
you said it.
Speaker 3 (48:39):
It sounded like that you're not doing well.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
I am not doing well. I'm not well, Mark, I'm
not well when it comes to fantasy football. This is
the reason why I'm officially done until next season.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
Oh, I forgot early about two weeks ago. You said
that b.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
John was your guy, was your bell cow guy, and
I was the one that was like, ah, how's that
working out?
Speaker 1 (49:09):
For?
Speaker 3 (49:10):
Has been fine? He he is not a one man team. Mark.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
I have other failures on your bottom lip quiver because
I second, it's the first year.
Speaker 3 (49:22):
He's cry the car. He don't cry in the car.
And I didn't even.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
The times that I thought I was gonna win my
money back as the high point of the week.
Speaker 3 (49:30):
Somebody else beat me at that too.
Speaker 9 (49:33):
Oh my god, you gotta work on your fantasy football defense.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
That's what I'm oh, man, I am not good right now.
I am not okay. Neither is Philip Rivers. When he
goes out there, he is he gonna do when they.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
Throw all our blizz at him and he's gotta drop
back three or four steps.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
I'm slinging. Listen, I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
Off his back foot like you know that his mechanics
are gonna be awful.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
I'm gonna tell you. The other reason why this is
a problem for me is because because Philip Rivers is
gonna go out there and like you said, Marcut, he's
gonna sling this ball around. He's gonna be out there,
he's gonna probably go for two hundred yards and it's
gonna be like, man, I should have never stopped playing.
And then he's gonna realize the day after, Oh.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
I shouldn't stopped.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
Feeling about that exactly how you feel the next day.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
Yeah, the cold tub is not enough. You better go
to cry, yo, because he's gonna be crying. Coming up next,
we're gonna talk about the NFL. We got Thursday night football,
Baker Mayfield versus b Jon Robinson.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
Let's talk about it right here.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
On the morning kick off on Sports Radio A thirteen
hundred design and always free on the high Heart Radio app.
You know, it's interesting to me as you start to
look at football players and their careers. The ultimate goal,
going back to what we were saying about Philip Rivers,
is being a champion, being able to be recognized as
(50:57):
a champion, being an MVP. But you also want to
be recognized as one of the best, and that culminates
in time in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. One
of those guys that looked like he was on the
verge of being a superstar is one Joe Burrow. Joe
(51:18):
Burrow National champion at LSU, number one overall pick by
the Cincinnati Bengals. His career started off, he went to
the Super Bowl, ended up losing in that matchup. But
you start to look at Joe Burrow in his career,
He's often injured. He's had ups and downs throughout his
(51:39):
time in Cincinnati, and yesterday during his media availability, a
lot of folks was thinking he was on the same
track as one.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
Andrew Luck. And here's what he had to say.
Speaker 7 (51:54):
I want to keep doing this. I have to have
fun doing it. You know, I've been through a lot
and if it's not fun, then what am I doing
it for? So that's mindset I'm trying to bring to
the table.
Speaker 3 (52:10):
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it seemed frustrated.
There's just a lot of things going on right now.
Speaker 6 (52:16):
A lot of things going on right now, all related personally.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
I'll get both. Like you said, there's nothing.
Speaker 7 (52:22):
All we can do is is focus week to we
can try to try to win games. I don't think
anybody's really thinking about the playoffs right now. That's that's
within reach. But on our fingertips. So he's got to
(52:43):
keep doing what we're doing and try to get better.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
So think about this guy and what he's gone through
since he's been in the NFL. He had his rookie season,
he tours ACL and MCL, and he suffered damage to
his PCL. He dislocated his pinky finger during the game,
but continued to throw twenty twenty two.
Speaker 3 (53:06):
Series of injuries.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
He was out because of a cap stranger in the
offseason and then reaggravated it in the second game. He
also tore a ligament I don't even know what that
is in his wrist, and it required surgery and he
was out for a period of time. If you look
at what this guy has been through, one thing's for sure.
(53:27):
He is resilient because he always comes back.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
He's tough.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
He's very tough. But you know, you've dealt with injuries.
I've dealt with injuries. It plays with you, and now
you're there with a team that obviously if you would
have been healthy, you think y'all would be in a
better place. But that's why he said, I'm not even
thinking about the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (53:47):
I don't think it's football related. The way he was talking.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
It sounds it sounds a lot like Andrew Love. I
was just about to say that, it sounds.
Speaker 2 (53:57):
Like yeah, like he he said that if it's not fun,
then then why do it. I Life ain't about fun.
Life is about moving forward. And a lot of people
get troubled and they failed. They fail and moving forward,
(54:18):
he's been able to move forward. I don't see what
the in football, even with the injuries, he's been able
to move forward. Now in his private life, that's something
altogether different. Those things you're not discussing publicly. A lot
of times you don't even discuss it with your boys
or your girlfriend. Like there's some stuff you just you know,
(54:41):
you hold close to your heart. And I feel like
he needs some help at home. Well, I'm not whatever
whatever that is, I don't know a.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
Lot of it has to do with football, too, because
think about this, I just told you he heard he
had a risk fracture before in rib injury. He had
a torn a knee of moniscus in his knee, He
tore his ACL, his MCL, and his PCL. He had
a dislocated finger. He had another injury that was out
(55:12):
in a toe, and now he's dealing with a turf toe,
and Cincinnati has done a.
Speaker 3 (55:16):
Poor job of protecting on his whole career, even when
to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (55:22):
He wanted all that money, he got it, and then
he got two wide receivers that are getting but a
lot of money.
Speaker 3 (55:29):
So you're gonna have to make up your mind what
you want.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Do you want to be protected and have moderate to
good wide receivers and running backs and a good defense
and try to win, or do you want to put
up numbers? Right now he's putting up numbers, and I
think he liked that, but.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
Don't put that on him. Put that on the front office.
As a person, you get your money, You earned that.
Don't you feel like you earned your earnings that you
had in wrestling. You weren't worried about nobody else's money.
That's not that for him.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
They have people that balance them books, not Joe Burrow.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
And if they have, they asked the quarterbacks about getting
money up front so they can the lord the cap.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
Let me ask you this. I just read you a
laundry list of injuries. Do you want your money and
know that you left a lot of money on the
table when you are dealing with this type of body.
Speaker 3 (56:26):
Yeah, I want my money. I'm not gonna lie exactly.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
So watching this and understanding what his mind is. Look,
he's missed this year nine games. Last year or twenty
twenty three, he missed seven games. Twenty twenty two he
only missed one game, but twenty twenty twenty twenty he
missed six games. Again, he looked those other injuries that
(56:51):
I was talking about, the chess and red fracture and
the wrist that was in college. He missed time in
college because of those types of things too. So he
has gone through and you know this just as well
as I do. When you're an injured player and all
you're doing is rehappen, you got a lot of time
to think about what's going on with your body.
Speaker 3 (57:11):
And you're not with your teammates.
Speaker 2 (57:15):
Which makes it fun is being around the guys, being
in the locker room, yes, and.
Speaker 3 (57:23):
Listening with them a ping pong.
Speaker 2 (57:24):
Now you're in there with John and Robert in there
connecting you to stem machines and ice.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
And telling you putting the putting that. Look, when this
goes off in twenty minutes, come.
Speaker 2 (57:37):
Back, Yes, can you hold your legs straight?
Speaker 3 (57:40):
I'm gonna push like that that's not fun.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
It's not fun for him, and that is where I
think that he is Andrew Luck.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
You brought him up. Andrew Luck was getting destroyed.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
His body was getting wrecked because he was trying to
wield his team to victory.
Speaker 2 (57:56):
Also, he said that he had dreams of traveling the
world and he was not getting to do anything other
than play football.
Speaker 3 (58:04):
You're talking about.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Andrew Loup, He's a different cat. He wanted to go
do travel the world. He wanted to be a Rhodes.
Speaker 3 (58:12):
Scholar, like you know, his dad was a.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
What is the conte's athletic director at Stanford, Like, he
wanted to be a higher education So like that, his
dream of playing football happened, and he wanted to go
back and do the other stuff. And now he's he's
got a chance to do that. So I'm happy for
(58:40):
him living his dream. But if I was an Indianapolis
coach fan, I'd be pretty aggravated because he should still
be the starting quarterback right now.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
Yeah. Yeah, it's a it's a want to do it.
Speaker 1 (58:56):
And that's why dan Orlowski said it himself. He was
like this, when you start speaking like this, and I
think you know this you start speaking like this, you
know that the end is near for you. You know that
when you start talking about life after the sport, you
know that you were you were at that end. So
we'll see exactly the Bengals play the Ravens. It's a
(59:19):
big matchup for the Ravens. The Ravens have to win.
The Bengals are pretty much out. It's like they're on
the same percentage chances of making the playoffs as the
Kansas City Chiefs. And you you you're trying to knock
on that door for the father towm coming to get
the knife and they.
Speaker 3 (59:35):
Done, Dominos, they that happen, right.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
They need to First off, they need to win for
in a row, which I doubt they could do. They
need two of the teams in their division to lose
two games. That's number two, Number three they need they
need what is the.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
U oh, Joey Hill with the calculator, He'll try with
the numbers and stuff. I'm trying to figure out.
Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
It was somebody has to go. Also has to go
undefeated for the rest of the season. That's the other thing.
And I can't remember which team it is that needs
to win out And if they went out. Then that
means that they beat two of the other teams and
that the Chiefs would get in. That's some stin up
(01:00:27):
map right now, Bro, you can't none of that's gonna happen.
I don't think none of it's gonna happen. I don't
think that one of the three top things is gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
We went through that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
We were hoping some things were gonna happen for.
Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
With the Texas, and it never happened. Never happened.
Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
So tonight on Prime Video, we've got the Falcons and
the Buccaneers. They will kick off at seven fifteen. The
Buccaneers are four and a half point favorite. Jon has
over a thousand yards on the season and he's gonna
add to that. Tony Baker. Mayfield's trying to get his
team in the playoffs. By the way, the weather at
the Bengals and Ravens game eleven degrees. That's probably why
(01:01:06):
he don't want to play. Goodnight, No this Saturday, this Sunday,
I'll tell my Coming up next, we've got the world's
Strongest man bringing you his world's strongest take right here
on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
the zone and always free.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
On the high Heart Radio app you heard the beat dropped.
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
That could only mean one thing. W W Hall of
Famer and World's Strongest Man d Mark Henry brings you
his world's strongest take, taking away big Fella Hard.
Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
Yes, you know what time it is? What time is it?
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
It's time for the world's strongest take by the world's
strongest man. My guys, back then they didn't know me.
Now I'm hot, they are all on me. Guys, here we.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Go again, and I'm gonna talk about basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
I know, we usually don't start talking about basketball until
Christmas because that's when the NBA really says the season
is really up on us.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
We got the.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Championship of the play in Tournament and all of that
good stuff. But that's not what I'm gonna talk about. No,
I'm not gonna talk about the Lakers and the Spurs.
Being a Laker fan and seeing my second favorite team
(01:02:33):
the Spurs beat them like a drum last night.
Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
We're not talking about We're just gonna leave it right there.
And Victor winder Yama didn't even play.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
Okay, anyway, last night, the Oklahoma City Thunder tied the
Golden State Warriors for the best starting record in NBA
history at twenty four games in twenty four games in
(01:03:06):
one unbelievable. But that in itself is not what I'm
talking about. What I'm talking about is the fact that
they beat the Suns by forty nine points half a
(01:03:27):
one hundred in a pro game, all gas, no breaks.
Every player on the team not only played, but every
team Every player scored, and all but two players got
(01:03:48):
a rebound. They had thirteen players suit up, thirteen players scored.
Speaker 3 (01:03:58):
They have two other guys that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
Didn't dress that were in street clous that's hard to
say street clothes team, and if they had suited up,
they would have scored two.
Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
I think this could be the all time greatest team.
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
Now, there have been teams that had better players than
Oklahoma City, and you can name them, you know. I mean,
I'm not going to say it's a lot, but I'm saying,
you know, you look at the Bulls in the nineties,
You look at the Lakers in the two thousands, you
look at Houston and San Antonio in the nineties and
(01:04:41):
two thousands, they had historically great top five, top ten
players of all time.
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Right now, I.
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Would say that Sga is the only guy that we'll
look at as a maybe be a top fifty player
all time, top seventy five at the least on this team.
But they have if you had a scale to one
(01:05:13):
one hundred, I don't think they have one player on
their fifteen roster that's below a seventy eight.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
All of these guys are first.
Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
They have eleven lottery picks this team because of the
stupidity of the Clippers and the Sixers allowing them to
get their first round draft picks for like the last
three years.
Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
The guys on their bench Cayden Wallace, Dean.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
Williams and Williams, Shay Guilders, Alexander Well he came into trade,
and Caruso and Dork came in trades. The rest of
those guys were all draft picks and they have them
for cheap for the next because they weren't top five
(01:06:20):
draft picks. They were like seven to like sixteen, so
they got good money, but they got reasonable money.
Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
Shay Gilders is the only one, and now.
Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
You know, I got Jay will Now he's getting paid
big money. But hard I look at it like this,
I think that this is a team that my take
is this they will break the record that the Golden
State Warriors set because the Golden State Warriors were top heavy.
(01:06:56):
They had five guys that were just damn near unstoppable.
When you get halfway point to the All Star Game,
when when the starters are tired and you're gonna need
to give them a little rest before that final stretch,
you got seven other guys that can pull the load.
(01:07:20):
I think they'll be able to keep that high intensity
play above board before the end of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
I say they break the record. What's ay.
Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
We talked about this a little bit yesterday about how
good this team actually is in the way that they compete.
And the one thing that I talk to myself about
this yesterday, he said that they compete on both ends
of the floor.
Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
That's rare.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
That's rare, especially when you got a guy like SGA
that can go out there and score the way that
he scores. But they play defense just as hard as
they play offense. And to me, that is the difference.
Can they keep that up? Will they keep that up?
And if they keep that mindset of being a young
team that is talented, that understands what it looks like
(01:08:15):
every single night, like last night you talked about it
beat them by what forty three point forty nine points
half a hundred. You sit there and you look at
that and you see, but you can take guys out
of the game and let some of the other players play.
Like you said, everybody on the bench got a chance
to play. So that was the thing is now they
(01:08:37):
can take breaks because going out every single night to
win seventy games is going to be tough. There is
going to come a time where their bodies are gonna say, hey, man,
I need a break for a little bit. They are
out there getting breaks in the game. What we talk
about evacuate load management. You have the load manage when
you have thirteen yes, yes, and you can take your
(01:09:00):
starting five out and play the other eight guys and
they still can.
Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
Run you off the court.
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
And the togetherness in which they play, that's the biggest thing.
That is the thing. You look at all the postgame interviews,
they're there together, they're all they're driver. It's a good
group of guys that are part of a team, and
they understand these windows are being championed. They don't happen
(01:09:30):
for everybody. Think about all the greats that don't have rings.
Now you're part of another select group that you guys
can stay together and understand if we do this collectively,
we got a chance to go on the run again.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
And they still have all those guys locked up for
another two seasons.
Speaker 3 (01:09:49):
Also, they still have all those Clipper draft picks right.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
And the Clippers suck, so the draft picks are gonna
be hot. Top ten pick, yeah, Lotto, So what do
you do with the other guys that are on the
bench that are first top sixteen pick. You gotta go
let him go to trade them for the pig.
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
Release connect, Release connect, not only release him, tradeing. We'll
close out the show and send you to Dan Patrick. Man.
Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
This is been a crazy, crazy day. We'll talk NFL.
We'll wrap up what's going on fifty. We also got
to hear from that Spurs matchup against you O Lakers
right here on the morning kick off on Sports Radio
AM thirteen hundred to zoned and always free on the
iHeartRadio app. What this show we had today? So much
to get into, so much conversation. Madison Booker Texas Women
(01:10:40):
win won ten forty five over ut RGV RGV.
Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
Madison Booker goes.
Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
Fourteen of nineteen and has a triple double.
Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
She messed around and got a triple dump her first.
Speaker 1 (01:10:53):
Triple double of her career twenty eight, ten and ten.
I'll expect more from Maddie about that. She was excited
about it. We also got to talk to our guy,
Eric Henry of Horns two four seven breaking down the
things that are happening on the forty Acres, both men's
basketball and of course football.
Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
And we'll be on tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
We'll be on the show with me tomorrow as Mark
has something he's got to take care of. But listen,
the story will continue, and the story will be about
Sharon Moore and what's going on with him at the
University of Michigan. What's next for the Michigan Wolverines. The
coaching search has to have been on the way already,
(01:11:34):
But breaking news off the forty Acres safety Derek Williams
Junior has now entered the transfer portal. People have learned
also Wardell Mack, defensive back, plans to enter the transfer
portal as well. He was a guy that we thought
(01:11:55):
we were gonna see a lot more of, as was.
Speaker 3 (01:11:59):
Derek will Derek.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Williams had to deal with some injuries and that so
the people leaving the forty acres or planning to leave
the forty acres are in that secondary position are a
little disheartening for me, to be quite honest with you.
Derek Williams Junior was somebody that I was high on
when he came in with the top defensive recruit out
(01:12:22):
of Louisiana along with arch Manning being the top offensive recruit.
And now he's gonna get into the transfer portal again.
Ardell Mack is the second dB of the day to
get into the tracks for portal. So it is it's
gonna be than over there on the forty acres time
(01:12:42):
this time.
Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
I don't think.
Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
So.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
We talked about this at the beginning of the season,
how much depth was in that secondary especially with the
people that they recruited, and one of which was playing
baseball at the time, and you got to say that
he would be the prime candidate for a starting position
after the spring, and that in itself heard is is
(01:13:09):
where I look at it. You know, you're not promising
guys they're gonna play, but if you're bringing in other guys,
which Texas did. They brought in other guys they recruited
heavily in the secondary. Like you're gonna tell those guys, hey, well,
you gonna have to wait a year.
Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Isn't that guy Bishop? Like every position, plug isn't one
of them in safety?
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
He's a freshman. So I'm talking on the no, no no,
but I'm saying he's a freshman. So when you look
at these guys that are gonna be gone, So let's
just go through this list of players that are gonna
be gone.
Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
You have Michael taff gone.
Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
You have Derrick Williams now who is going to, as
they say, possibly enter the transfer portal. You have Kobe
Black who is entering the trans excuse me, Wardelle Mack
is entering the transfer portal. You have Jalen Gilbo who
is a senior. You have Malik Muhammad who possibly could
(01:14:14):
be going into.
Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
The NFL Draft.
Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
You have Ethan Burt who is going into his final season.
You're gonna lose a lot and depending on who opts
out of the bowl game and decides not to play,
what are you going to do? So now you're if
these guys are staying through the ball, great, If they're not, ye,
(01:14:40):
there's a lot that's going to be happening so yeah,
you may be going in a portal to get all
these guys, but you're not gonna have those people for
the Bowl game.
Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
That's the thing that I'm worried. I think that they
have enough depth for one game. I think they do.
If you were saying it for a playoff, point off.
If you're gonna say for a playoff, then and yeah,
it would be a problem. But I would hope that
if they were in the playoffs, the guys would just
stay in play.
Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
But that's the other part of this, the transfer portal window,
the opportunity to get in there, to put your name
out there, you have to do it. And coach Shark
is one of those guys that if you plan on
doing it, goodbye.
Speaker 9 (01:15:21):
Yeah he said, you put your name in a transfer portal.
You gone, Yeah, that's no coming back. There's there's there's
there's not that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
Well, he they have to have already been fighting to
keep those guys, and they've had those exit meetings and
so I guess these guys didn't like what they were
hearing in the exit meetings. So now they're in this
position to to get into the transfer portal. It's it's
it's interesting because I said it earlier. A lot of
(01:15:50):
guys don't want to leave the University of Texas, especially
with what is going on and how this team has
gotten better and better as the.
Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
Season has gone on. But now there's guys looking the walk.
Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
There might be more guys like a Moseley or injuries
coming in to this city.
Speaker 1 (01:16:09):
Very true, very true, That's what I'm saying. But I'm
thinking more about this particular game. And remember at the
beginning of the press availability with coach Sark, he mentioned
this has given us a time to have a lot
of young guys play in this game. And now going
up against a Michigan team that they don't know what
they're going to be when this happens. They don't know
(01:16:31):
who what players are opting in and out for them,
They don't know if they're going to have their quarterback
as you mentioned earlier, that might be looking in the
transfer portal. There's a lot to unwrap for all of
college athletics. And let's just say this. We're all for
free enterprise and being able to make moves and do
things like this.
Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
We need a.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
Commissioner for college football and it has to happen soon.
Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
Wow ho so and guys, all of y'all out there,
please go to the Austin Sports Awards dot Com check us.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
Out and vote for Mark and tickets your.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
Tickets, but I want you to vote from Mark Henry
and Mike Hartz for best Radio Show.
Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
Oh my god. Every day, every day I'm on, I'm
