Today is “Prediction Thursday.” We are only two days from the “Red River Rivalry” game between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian held his SEC call with the media, discussing what the team needs to focus on in the upcoming battle with the Sooners. We give our “For Entertainment Purposes Only” picks against the spread for this weekend’s college and NFL games. More on the college football great matchup Saturday. Victor Wembanyama is working with Hakeem Olajuwon and picking things up fast. The Major League Baseball Divisional Round had some long balls hit last night. “The World’s Strongest Take!” Plus, interviews with Eric Henry of Horns 24/7 to talk about Saturday’s big game, former Oklahoma Sooner Defensive Lineman Tommie Harris talked some trash before the game, and we pay off our bet to former Florida Gator Defensive Lineman Thaddues Ballard, also known as Titus O’Neil in the WWE. You can hear it all here on “The Morning Kickoff Show!”

Texas o U.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Street Fair Fight, State Fair fight.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
And I'm excited about it because this is the moment
we've all been waiting for. We've been waiting for the
news to come out of Oklahoma and it says that
all things. The injury report came out yesterday and all
things say that it's trending towards Materr playing. I don't
know how effective he's gonna be. I don't know if
it's all true, but all I know is he's got

(03:13):
a hand injury. And as a quarterback, you're under center
your shotgun formation, the ball is touching your hand every
single play. So there is going to be an opportunity
for the Texas Longhorns because he hasn't done as Brett
Vinable said, Brett Vinable, excuse me, says that he hasn't
been doing good on good so we'll see what happens.

(03:35):
I don't know if he's walking around campus with a
football in his hand and people trying to knock it
out of his hands. Mark, But you know as well
as I do, if you have a hand injury in
this sport, you have to use your hands.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
It's gonna be a difficult task.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Well, there's guys that are not as pleasant as you
and I haard and I grew up with one, and
I'm in Salesbig Texas right now, getting ready watch my
brother get inducted into the Wall of Honor. And I'm
gonna tell you if it was him, if he was
playing on that Wrecking Crew defense drum Matereier, hand would

(04:11):
get grabbed and he would get doc dode all around
the backfield.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Because my brother was mean, and there's some mean.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Guys out there that they're gonna take advantage of material.
If he end up in the bottom of the powle,
you better unload that pile real quick, exactly.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
He will not be out there long.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
That's what That's what I've been talking about the whole time.
Is like, you be silly not to attack it. I'm
not talking about going out there and trying to hurt them, man,
but we're talking about you have a hand injury. You
are the quarterback. I'm slapping at your hand the entire time,
and there may be a time you get hit on
a helmet. I mean, there's just so much that happens

(04:52):
that is it worth the risk for him to play
right now by rushing him back for the Texas game
and then possibly not having him for the rest of
the season.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Well, you can't even protect yourself when you go to
the ground exactly, like everything that you do, you land
on your hands.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
You know.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I would I would force him to run to his
right because if he tried to go left, then he
can stiff arm with his left yep and hold the
ball with his right Like what do you pick your poison?

Speaker 4 (05:23):
What do you want him to do?

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Exactly?

Speaker 2 (05:26):
So like if he if he runs, if he runs
to the left, then his right arm is the stiff arm,
and that don't make sense at all.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Well, we'll see what ends up happening.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
But I want you to hear from coach sark as
he's preparing for this week and as we get closer
and closer. We'll have another availability with him today, so
we'll hear one more time what his expectations are after
the last day of preparations.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
Yeah, obviously exciting week of any season, in particularly this
one and twenty first meeting between Texas and OU and
the Red River rivalry UH in Dallas at the State
Fair at the Cotton Bowl. In my opinion, it's it's
the it's the premier game, the best game in all
of college football year and the year out.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
We're obviously fortunate, humbled to be part of it.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
Uh Oh, You've got a great teams, the heck of
a challenge and looking forward to uh to an awesome
opportunity to go play in that game.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
And one of the biggest things for Sark as well
was talking about arch Man.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
And we've talked about the.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Running game and the lack of it at times, but
you start to understand that, hey, hey, it's sorry. Arch
is the leading rusher of the team, so that has
to be a challenge.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
There's a lot of people and things that have been
challenged this week, including myself, and so you know, to
point out one thing or another probably wouldn't be fair.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
To to all the facets of you.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
Know, trying to push the right buttons to make sure
that we put our best foot forward, so you know, naturally,
you know, I think the injury bug has kind of
hindered that some obviously with Betray and C four being
injured and trying to find our way with some of
the younger players, and Arches obviously utilize his legs very well,
so ideally, you know, one or two of these guys

(07:13):
can find their rhythm and find their roof here as
we as we're moving towards the second half the season.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
And speaking of CJ.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Baxter, it looks as if he's not going to be
able to play because the initial injury report came out
and it says CJ. Baxter is doubtful this week for
the Texas Longhorns and probable is Malik Muhammad and Parker Livingston.
So that that's a big part of what Texas is

(07:40):
going to need. But this is a game where you know,
the running game is going to have to be featured.
But he was asked about arch manning and giving him
enough time in the pocket to throw, because remember I've
been talking about getting the ball out of his hand
quick well, Sark was talking about the big chunk plays
that they like to do down.

Speaker 6 (07:59):
The feel Well, I think it all depends on, you know,
what you're trying to do offensively, right, And you know,
obviously arch is a is a guy who can push
the ball down.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
The field, and and you know.

Speaker 6 (08:11):
We're trying to, especially early on in the season, we're
trying to play to his strengths and try to do
some of the things that he does well. You know,
with that requires holding the ball for half a second
or so longer. You know, so when when when you
do that, you know that stresses the protection some and
so you know at times when you know with Quinn,
Quinn was an elite r PO guy, and everyone used

(08:34):
to criticize Quinn because he threw so many balls at
or behind a lot of scrimmage. And so what you
try to find and what you try to do is
find balance and all those things to where you can
throw the deep ball, through the intermediate ball, and throw
the short ball. In certain games, certain times, certain parts
of the season, you know, you lean into one aspect
more than the other.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
And if you're throwing a lot.

Speaker 6 (08:56):
Of quick game and r pos and screens, that number
is going to be really low.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
It might be below too.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
But if you're holding the ball and trying to push
it down the field, or you're behind in games and
you're scrambling around a little bit and you're you're you're
taking shots down the field, that number might be higher.
So you know, ideally you're probably in the mid twos.
That's usually the average, but at all when it's all
said and done. But you know, I I was definitely
obviously aware of that number.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
So basically what he's saying is I understand what the
challenges are when you're trying to push down the field,
and you know as well as I do. Two seconds
is a long time when you're trying to drop back.
Then you're getting to three and four. You got to
be able to get that ball out.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Of your hands.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Because that seems to be the situation that Texas is in.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Well, I'm part of I think that one of the
best things when you have a failing and running game
is quick passes in the flats, quick kind of like
a running play, Like they just give you that three
to four yards and you allow your player to get

(10:09):
the ball in his hands and maybe he can make
a play. Texas I think that would be the next
course of action if they can't establish that running game.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Well, the other part of it is, you know, delonging
are the days of Greg Davis where they would get.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
That ball out. People were like, man, I can't.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Believe he's running that And then you look up and
the wide receivers got over one hundred and fifty yards receiving,
got a bunch of first downs.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
You've moved the ball.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Now all of a sudden, Jamal Charles is popping one
down the middle and taking it to the house. And
those are kind of the things that people are now
trying to figure out. Let's protect this kid kind of
like what we talked about yesterday. And his numbers are
very very good compared to some of the other quarterbacks
at this time and their careers and all that. But

(10:59):
we want we want quick grits, right, we're gonna be
able to cook them quick.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
We don't.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
I don't like quick grip.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
I won't you. I wanted to take fifteen to twenty
minutes like I want real fans.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yah, you gotta mic away sometimes I want to get you.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
No, No, we're not doing that.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
We in the South South, we are in the South.
I'm gonna I'm gonna judge you. I'm gonna stare at
you and look at you. Real funny.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
If you serve me, you wouldn't know to already be
ready by the time you got there.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
When we come back Prediction Thursday, we're gonna knock out
some of these predictions. We've got our guy, Eric Henry
of Horns two four seven joining us at seven thirty four,
Tommy Harris, Legend of Oklahoma joining us at eight a m. Yes, folks,
he is joining us. And yeah, yeah, we've been going

(11:53):
through some changes around here, and Titus Old Neil WWE
Superstar is going to gloat and I know Mark cannot
wait for.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
This conversation, right yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
On a Prediction Thursday edition out of the Morning Kickoff
right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred This Zone.
Welcome back to the Morning Kickoff right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. My boy Richie just
sent us a video talking about my cousin Vinny about
cooking the Southern way, no other way.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
It's my favorite that's my favorite one right there. That
movie my cousin Vinnie was hilarious, but that that court
scene was the best.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Yeah, it was a yeah, all right, let's get into it,
my man.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
It's that time we got we got predictions that we
have to get to. And just for those that don't
understand when we pick these these are four entertainment purposes.
Don't hold it against us. Understand that we don't know
all the answers. You don't know all the answers. Sway,
we don't know. Oh, but we're gonna try to lead

(13:02):
you in the right direction. And we're about to get
into college football and our picks for this weekend. Marcus,
you have the floora because you still have the best
record out of all of us at this particular time.
So go ahead, mister Spears, take the Flora.

Speaker 7 (13:20):
I am starting off South Florida one and a half
over North Texas.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
South Florida one and a half. That game will be
Friday night at Denton. It's almost like we should probably
go to that, but we'll see what we got.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
We got.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
We're pretty busy this weekend. Mark Henry, what will your
first pick be?

Speaker 2 (13:40):
My first pick is Oregon versus Indiana.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
And I'm going Oregon.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Oregon.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
It's a big number two seven and a half isn't it.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
It's a big number. But if anybody can cover and
it's them, that's a prolific offense.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Okay, I am taking going into the big ten as well.
I am going to take Michigan plus two and a
half at usc USC.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
I don't know who they are, if they're real.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Or if they're fake, but I'm gonna see what Michigan have.
I'm taking the Michigan Wolverines plus two and a half
at USC.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
I mean yeah, at USC.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
My second pick will be number nine Texas Tech Red Raiders.
They are fourteen point favorite at KU or versus KU.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
They're hosting KU. I like KU, but I like.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Texas Tech a little bit more minus fourteen. I'm taking
a Mark Henry your second pick.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
I am going Missouri and al Labama, and I'm going
to go Alabama. They saying that it's five, the line
is five plus three. It is three now it's three.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Yeah, I'm still gonna go to Alabama.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
You go on with Bama. I'm making you do that.
I'm making you do that, Marcus.

Speaker 7 (15:11):
I'm gonna go Florida seven and a half plus seven
and a half versus A and them out of the
hopes that just that.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Florida was just better than they've been off season.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Yup, I got you, Mark your third college pick.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Well, I think it's safe to assume with the shirt
that I'm wearing that you kind of know where my
pick is. Gonna go Texas and Oakland home. Man, I'm
gonna go Texas.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Texas is a one and a half point favorite.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
By the way, folks, the lines that we are giving
you are based off of draft kings.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
The crown is yours.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
If you got a gambling problem called one eight hundred gambling,
I just want you to know that, Marcus, your third
college fit.

Speaker 7 (16:01):
I'm taking Michigan State minus eight and a half versus UCLA.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Michigan State they you call it UCLA foods goal after
last Well.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Also the fact that West Coast team traveler. Yeah, I
got you, I got you.

Speaker 8 (16:16):
I like it.

Speaker 9 (16:16):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
I am going with Arizona State. They are a six
point dog at Utah. I am taking Arizona State plus
six on the road at Utah. I saw what Texas
Tech did to them, and they played. They have a
big matchup next week Texas Tech in Arizona State. So

(16:40):
those two will be locked in and ready to go.
They're not looking past each other's opponent, So I'm taking them.
Now we go to the NF of L Mark Henry,
who do you have in your first game in the NFL?

Speaker 2 (16:55):
As far as the first game I'm going with, it's
gonna be Kansas City in Chiefs versus Detroit Lions, and
I'm gonna go Detroit, and I want to I'm gonna
We're gonna get to see Kansas City go.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
To four losses before they have the first break.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Well, since you are there, I agree with you.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
For the first time in a long time, I am
taking Detroit. And the reason why I'm taking Detroit is
because all they did Kansas City was fight, fight, fight,
and now they are trying to just become best friends.
It seems like it seems that boys for life.

Speaker 7 (17:35):
Marcus Man, I almost took that game, but I'm going
to Rams seven and a half versus the Raven We would.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Have been three people, Yeah, we would have. We would
have been all the way in Unison, Marcus. What is
your next game?

Speaker 7 (17:50):
Stiller's minus five and a half versus.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
The brown Minus five and a half versus the Browns,
Mark Henry.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
I'm gonna go the game I think is gonna be
the game of the week.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
It's gonna be the Seattle Seahawks and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jacksonville coming off a big win. I think they're gonna
drop a little bit. I'm going Seahawks Seahawks. Okay, Mark
Henry takes the Sea Chickens. I understand what you're talking about.
I got you, I got you. Hey man, I did
not say Sea Chickens. I said the seed Hawks some

(18:26):
respect on their name.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
I am going with the New England Patriots.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
The New England Patriots new flown found glory with Drake May.
They're a tough football team. They do things the right way.
They are traveling to New Orleans. New Orleans can't get
out of their way. They won their first game last week,
so they probably think they're going to the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Not happening.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
I am taking New England minus three and a half
and I will finish off with the New York Jets
plus seven and a half versus the Denver Broncos. They
are playing overseas. I am going with the Jets to cover.
I'm not saying they're winning, but they will make this
game tight plus seven and a half, Marcus, who.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Are you going with?

Speaker 7 (19:09):
We're going hit the head because I'm taking the Broncos
minus the seven.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
And a half for the Chens. Come on, man, don't don't, don't,
don't just beat them up. I like Glenn, but they're
gonna cover them. They're gonna come.

Speaker 9 (19:21):
Mark Henry, your final pick, sir, San Francisco forty nine
ers and the fighting Baker Mayfields.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Okay, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Guys, I cannot pick against Baker.
That's a wonderful sign when it comes to how you
view a team by the power of their quarterback. Baker
Mayfield is better than any other guy other than Josh
Allen right.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Now, So you're picking Tampa Bay over.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Picking Tampa Bay the cover?

Speaker 10 (19:56):
All right.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
So there are are picks for this weekend. As we said,
please choose wisely. And this is this is for entertainment
purposes only. This is not where you go and mortgage
your crib. This is us having a little.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
My heart.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
And that's the last thing you want to do, is
is the Bencho mortgage On the fact that Mark Henry's
Buccaneers is a shoe, it's.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
A lot, yes, yes, some of the I'm not saying
that Mark. Mark said lock him in.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
It's a looking at my record.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
He's unless you got him right, then you would say
you should have listened. Hey, he's giving you.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
The stone cold lock of the day, the market Henry Lock,
the world's strongest lock.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
There you go for entertainment purposes.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Yeah, there are some other games of interest that will
be going on this weekend that I was looking at. Obviously,
the doubt was Cowboys traveling to Carolina. Carolina is a
team that is playing well, but so are the Dallas Cowboys.
You also look at the Arizona Cardinals in the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Can the Colts continue.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
This trajectory that they are on at this particular time,
the way that they're playing. We talked about what's going
on in Arizona. Are the players looking at the coach
a little bit different now or are they going to
rally behind them to see what happens there? The Chargers
and the Miami Dolphins. The Chargers have been struggling over

(21:34):
the last couple of weeks. The Miami Dolphins, no Tarrek Hill.
Are they going to be able to save our guy?

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Mister? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Yeah, that's all folks seeing if he's gonna be able
to keep his job. I don't think it. I think
he's good man walking and things might have to change.
Take some things about to change in Miami. So there
are some good games this weekend. We'll have Eric Henry
of Horns two four seven joining us in just the moment,

(22:08):
but we'll close out.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
The hour talking about.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Big games in college football this weekend. A ton of
ranked matchups in the Big East, I mean, excuse me,
Big East, in the.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Big Ten and the SEC.

Speaker 9 (22:22):
Some big time.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Matchups all over the place.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
We'll continue with Eric Henry of Horns two four seven
when we come back right here on a prediction Thursday
edition of The Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen
hundred The Zone. Welcome back to the Morning Kickoff right
here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone Thursday.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
So you know what that means.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
We gotta go get our guy, Eric Henry of Horns
two four seven. You can follow him at Eric c
Henry Underscore as he breaks it down with the great
folks over at Horns two four seven. Good morning, How
you doing, buddy with the Devil Rays shirt on one call.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Out there there We go.

Speaker 11 (23:04):
We got to go to throwback Delrays. Good morning, good morning,
real quick man. You know Mark, you know, sexual chocolate
was only a character, right, why you bring us in
the bedroom for those.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
Character Special chocolate is a true dramatization of.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
The real guy.

Speaker 11 (23:26):
It is it is.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
It is art imitating.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
That was outstanding. He went to start this thing off man.
But let's get into it.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
But Devil Rays can join my Yankees.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
They're all in. Can't clumb right now, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Yeah, So let's get into it because obviously there is
a lot of conversation around the quarterback position.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Some of the criticism is warranted, but most of it
is not.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
It is a guy playing seven games of college for ball,
and now the conversation has changed. There was an article
about him, but one of the things that you wrote
about is the arch Manning situation and the respect that
he's earned from his teammates. So let the people know
about what you gathered in your information about arch Manning

(24:18):
and how these players look at him.

Speaker 11 (24:21):
Yeah, you know, listen, I'm not going to criticize the publication,
but I don't know when that article was written.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
I don't know how you.

Speaker 11 (24:27):
Can come away from last Saturday's game and not take
away wholeheartedly that arch manning is a tough three word
phrase and I cannot use yeah yeah, Which that was.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
The sentiment I got when I spoke to the players
on Monday.

Speaker 11 (24:44):
I wanted to know, I want to hear it from,
you know, was offensive guys like Ryan Wingo or contraved
On Wise.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
So let's use trade for a second. Mark and Hart.

Speaker 11 (24:50):
Remember that's a guy who took thirty four carries thirty
six touches overall at Texas A and M on the
road last year, ninety carries down the last three three
game of the year. He's as tough as they come.
And to hear him say, yeah, that guy's a dog.
He earned earned my respect, you know with his toughness.
Defensive guys like Anthony Hill, Hero Canoe talk about how

(25:12):
they earned his respect. How seeing your quarterback and y'all
know this, right, that's that's the guy. And if you
see him pick himself back up off the turf and
keep fighting, those guys are going to want to fight.
I'm not saying that's the solve for all of Texas's issues,
because you know they are a flawed team right now, However,
that really resonated with me coming out of Gainesville and
then hearing that from the players.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
I'm under Mark, I've said, I'm right with that with you, Eric,
I see him being one of the tough guys on
his team. We saw him get hit a couple of
times as he delivered balls, and he completed those passes.
It's it's the passes where he don't get hit that

(25:55):
you see somebody running down the scene and he misses
them by three or four feet. All of that stuff
is going to be corrected with what hard time. We
keep saying that, and we said it last year. People
underestimate how good Quinn was with the touch passes because
of his experience, not because he was overwhelmingly physically great,

(26:20):
because we all know and can see with our eyes
that Arches are bigger, stronger, better athlete than Quinn was.
But that don't make you a better quarterback. And it's
just gonna take some time for him.

Speaker 5 (26:34):
Super quick, you know.

Speaker 11 (26:35):
Mark, on to your point, right, you talked about kind
of arch Manning's physical traits and guys. Steve Sarkjen on
the SEC Teleconference coach of teleconference they have on Wednesday,
noted that arch Manning. I believe the time was three
point four seconds that he had, which we guys know,
we all know, right, that's an eternity to throw the
football off your quarterback right wanted to push it downfield.

(26:56):
Steve Sarkisen noted that, hey, they believe downfield passing is
a strength of arch man and they're not going to
change what they're trying to do. I reference that because
I don't know if you guys have heard this on
our horns WHINNY four seven message boards. Some of the
conversation has been can they get the quick game going right?
If you're struggling on first and second down? Can you
get the quick game? How many times on Saturday do
you see DJ Lagway? You know the guy's playing on

(27:18):
one leg. He's not dropping back five to five steps right,
get it out because you know he can't move right.
I think there are some Texas fans when you get
incorporated into the offense. I do think those things are
there and they'll take time. You gotta remember, this receiving
corps is different. You don't have a Xavier Worthy or
ib Isaiah Bond. Guys are smaller and shifting. These are
bigger receivers right, they're looking to go across the middle

(27:40):
of the field and go down the field. So that
was something that took away from Steve's teleconference yesterday. To
your point, Mark arch Man does have the physical tools
to deliver the ball downfield.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
I'm god that is part of that quick game. Quick game.
Get the ball out of your hand to try to
slow down that rush.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Because it's great that he can have that kind of
time where you think he can and he can push
it down there. But what we've seen it has not
been able to be true. So you have to make
some sort of adjustments and that could be your running game.
The quick game can be. But let me ask you
this e because there's also some things that are going
on when you look at this Texas offense and defense

(28:14):
going up against Oklahoma. Oklahoma is one of the best
defenses that are out there in the country so far
by number. What are some of the things that you've
seen about this situation when it comes to the Texas
Longhorns attacking Oklahoma.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Listen, I was dead wrong about Oklahoma's defense enter in
the year.

Speaker 11 (28:30):
Right, they have a defensive end and edge ar Mason Thomas,
who had nine sacks last year, is off to a
good start this year. I thought, you know, he was
a nice player, harden Mark, He's shown that he's more
than nice.

Speaker 5 (28:43):
Players. I was wrong about ar Mason Thomas. But of
course we all know.

Speaker 11 (28:46):
The matchup is the interior of Texas Texas's offensive line
versus Oklahoma's defensive interior.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
Dominic Williams. That's the name Texas fans remember.

Speaker 11 (28:55):
Of course, he was in the running when Texas was
looking for defensive tackles last year. Former USC trojan TC
Hornfrog about five schools I could run down, but put
it together in Norman. Keep an eye on that matchup
because we all saw left guard wasn't issue. Really, I
mean the entire interior, but left guard specifically Connor Strode,

(29:17):
Nick Brooks.

Speaker 5 (29:18):
Cole Hudson at center, I mean DJ Campbell. She is
excluded from this right. You know he was not an
issue on Saturday. But how is that in tier?

Speaker 11 (29:27):
The left interior of Texas offensive line gonna fear come
telling right now. If Texas is going to have any chance,
it's not gonna be. Yes, Archie needs to play well.
But if they get beating the trenches the way they did,
you might as well just call the game right now,
Just give the give the trophy, Oklahoma.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Size don't matter.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
You gotta know your blocking a sign like just because
you three hundred and fifty pounds sixty six sixty seven,
that don't mean nothing.

Speaker 9 (29:52):
Man.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
I'll take a guy six two, two hundred and eighty
five pounds if you know who he's supposed to block
and he can get in a way, you ain't gotta
dominate the guy just getting away. Mark. That's where Texas
had their problems. People were missing blocking assignments. They shifted
right before the play would and then it changed who

(30:14):
you had to block and they couldn't get it done.
That's that's education. That's not physicality.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
Mark. I agree with you, but I'm gonna throw one
more word at you.

Speaker 11 (30:24):
You say education not physicality, I'm gonna say continuity as well.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
I remember doesn't have a ton of snaps playing together.

Speaker 11 (30:32):
And one of the questions I have for Steve Sarkisian
and I'll admit, we probably let this or almost with
anything else, I let this, you know, get lost in
the shuffle.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Nato Umazulu. We gotta check it on where he's been right,
what did he do?

Speaker 11 (30:45):
Did he do something, did he get in trouble we
have We have no reason to believe that the field.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
Everything we have to believe is that Connor Strow was.

Speaker 11 (30:55):
The option that Kyle Flood Steve Sarkisian felt more comfortable with.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
Towards the end of camp.

Speaker 11 (31:00):
Right, we started hearing Connor Strow's name two three weeks
into fall camp, right, haven't heard much about NATO. I'm
planning on asking Steve Sarkegan today, Hey, you know, just
an update on him and what do you and the
staff need to see from him? Because, as I had
mentioned before, true freshman Nick Brooks got the next set
of reps as opposed to NATO. Right, So this feels
like a situation where hey, all hands on deck because

(31:22):
you need a win because I'll just you know, finish
up with this or up against the clock here. But listen, guys,
I don't want to, you know, be negative about things,
but let's call a spade a spade. If you lose
to owe you on Saturday, you can't feel great about
your chances against Georgia. You can't feel great about your
chances against A and M. It's a seven and five
season two. Well, well, I'm a little I'm a little

(31:47):
higher on Texas's possibilities against Fanbia. I'm not not a
big Diego Pavia guy, but let's just call like, look
at seven and five right there, that's not the type
of season, especially when you open as the number one
team in the nation, that you want to half right.

Speaker 5 (32:00):
So again, I'm not saying it's a make or break
for the season right now, but this is.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
A crucial game.

Speaker 11 (32:04):
Because you lose, you can't feel great about your chances
against those two clubs.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Yeah, I feel you on that. Man.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
There he is our got Eric Henry of Horns two
four seven. Make sure you get over to Horns two
four seven and check out all of his latest They're
doing great stories there. I'm letting you go, what's the
what's the what's the prediction.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
I haven't made it yet, in mind, I need to
get that in about an hour and change.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
I'll let you hold it.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
I've looked on social media, we'll look on social media.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
We'll see today today.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
That was just saying listen, man, I'm not gonna break
it on your show, he says.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
He says, I'll give you I'll give you the score
every time. And I appreciate that, but I ain't gonna
force you this time. I'm gonna let you hold on
to it. Hold what you got?

Speaker 2 (32:48):
What you got player?

Speaker 3 (32:49):
All right, brother, I'll see you this weekend.

Speaker 9 (32:52):
Ye.

Speaker 10 (32:52):
All right?

Speaker 1 (32:53):
There he is Eric Henry of Horns two four seven. Yeah,
great article. Make sure you get over there to check
out his latest article. When we come back, we're gonna
close out our number one talk about the.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Big games this weekend.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Yeah, there are a bunch of them in college football,
and now's your chance to get a pair of tickets
to go see this Texas Stars hockey season has started,
folks right here on the morning kickoff on sports radio
AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Great stuff from our guy,
Eric Henry of Horns two four seven. Make sure you
follow them at Eric see Henry underscore on social media.

(33:28):
Now's the time for you to get a four pack
of tickets to go see the Texas Stars versus the
Grand Rapid Griffins Tomorrow, Friday, October the tenth at tenth
at the HEB Center in Cedar Park.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
All you got to do is get over to AM.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
Thirteen hundred The Zone, tap that red microphone and leave us.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
A word of the day.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Blade, Blade is the keyword of the day for you
to get a chance to win a family four pack
of tickets to go see the Texas versus the Grand
Rapid Griffin's Friday Night, October the tenth at the HB
Center in Cedar Park, Mark, we got big games this weekend.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Obviously.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
The biggest story is the Texas Longhorns, excuse me, taking
on Oklahoma and two thirty. You can hear the game
right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone,
your home for Texas football. But you can also listen
to us starting at eleven thirty from the Fairgrounds. We'll

(34:33):
be at the Old Mill Tavern courtesy of our great
old mill in courtesy of the great folks over at
the Yellow Rose.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
You can get over there.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
If you're not going to Dallas, make sure you get
over there for that big is your face bone in
Ribbi that they will be serving over there for twenty dollars. Yes, yes,
and they got wings too, Mark, they got good wings
over there.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
But oh, you're gonna be in Dallas though, We're gonna
be a Dallas.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
But for those that aren't traveling, make sure you get
over there and have a good time, and they got
big two big sixty five inch screens that you can
I think it's bigger than sixty five, but it's a
big two big screens over there to watch the.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Game as well, and they'll have full sound on for
Texas and oh You mark.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
The games that are very interesting to me start at
eleven o'clock AM on Saturday. Is number one Ohio State
travels to number seventeen Illinois. Illinois's number seventeenth rank team.
They will be on Fox. I think big noon kickoff
will be at that matchup. There's a lot that goes

(35:46):
into that team. Ohio State number one team in the land.
We saw them earlier. They're continuing to get better and better.
They are fourteen point favorite against Illinois. You also have
at eleven o'clock number eight Alabama that is favored by
three over number fourteen Missouri. Missouri has been running the

(36:08):
ball on the ground. They've been running the ball well
all season long. That has been a big key for them.
Can Alabama stop the run against Missouri? That game will
kick off on ABC two thirty same time. Up against
the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners is number seven Indiana
taking on number three Oregon. That's on CBS seven point

(36:33):
favorite for Oregon. That's a game that I think you
picked correct, Yes.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Yeah, that Hargin.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Have you watched Oregon play this abolutely? Dante More? I
mean I told you to dude is special.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
That that dude is special, like he's He's also in
that same category as Arch. He still don't know it
all right with five stars another five star too. Yeah,
when that guy gets it together, he's going to be
a force. He reminds me a lot of Russell Wilson

(37:08):
when he was younger.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Yeah, telling, don't be telling everybody that, man, don't a
lot of people don't like Russ, so don't do that.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
Don't do that to him.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
They don't like Russe because of his arrogance and his attitude.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
If you try to judge Russell on his talent and
you don't like him, that makes you a hater, because
that dude was when he was at Seattle, he was
a monster. Yep, all listen with all of the quarterbacks
that went to the Pro Bowl, he was one of them. Yeah,

(37:45):
you mean to tell me you can hate on the
Pro Bowl quarter that?

Speaker 3 (37:48):
Yeah, a lot of people do that.

Speaker 7 (37:49):
They hate on everybody went to the Super Bowl twice
back to back seasons, would have won two Super Bowls
if ever he.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Gave it to be small. But it is what it is.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
And then the final game that I'm looking at is Marcus,
you talked about this, the Florida Gators seven and a
half point dog on the road at Texas A and M.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Can they figure it out?

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Did they find something last week against the University of
Texas or is it one of those situations where it's like,
hey man, this is a different team, this is a
different time.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
So we will see what it is. But I believe
that a game will be on the ESPN.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
But I told you at the beginning of the year, man,
there's just something about this Texas A and M team
that's a little bit different than what we've seen over
the last few years.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
I don't know if it's the leadership.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
I don't know if it's the way that they handled business,
but this is a team that seems like they're locked
and loaded and expected to have a big year.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
No hard I think it was what men you talked
about before the season, and that was the fact that
he was on the hot seat and he had to
do it. It's the same thing with the like you
think Elcot was on the hot seat, man, he was
in m fan base. They don't care if you go

(39:09):
eight and four. If you don't win ten games and
are in the top four of a big time playoff
spot or a top bowl game, it's failure.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Well that's interesting to me, But I know this Texas
A and M is the real deal. They got a
quarterback playing at a high level. The wide receiving corps
is tough, and that defense is flying to the football.
Don't rest easy on that. I got a buddy that
went to the game the other day and he said
it was a life changing experience for him watching all
them people over there.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
It was crazy.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
When we come back, we'll continue the conversations.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
Our number one is in the bucks.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Let's get ready for our number two right here on
the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Welcome back to our number two, the morning kickoff right
here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
Mike Harballhart's World's.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
Strongest Man and WWE Hall of Famer, the Mark Henry.
Right now, we are being joined by a guy that
I've known since he was a young lad in k
Town and getting it done. So I wanted to be
the one to make sure that we got him on
the line. His name is Tommy Harris Junior. He's from

(40:27):
k Town, but he's also an Oklahoma Sooner, so we'll
make sure that he's over.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
Tommy.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Oh yeah, So Tommy, what's happening to mo?

Speaker 10 (40:40):
Man?

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Thank you for waking up with us this morning. I
know that you're busy, man, but we appreciate you taking
the time.

Speaker 10 (40:47):
You know, I got love you guys. I can get
up to talk football at this early in the morning.
You know. I got to be excited about some.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Booming Sooner and some We're good, Man, We're good.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
I wanted to ask you this because this is that
time of year, and we've talked to Cal Gundhy this week.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
We also talked to Alex Okaford. This is a big week.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
No matter what the records are, I don't think it
really matters at this point. It just so happened at
Oklahoma's having a better year right now. But you've been
in these battles when the team wasn't always great. You've
been in these battles when the team was good. What
is it about this week that gets you going.

Speaker 10 (41:35):
I mean, this is pretty much for me. This was
the bowl game, especially coming from Texas going against my state.
This was your bowl game. So if this was the
make or break.

Speaker 5 (41:48):
For me, and I knew I had to go back
to Texas every year, so.

Speaker 10 (41:52):
I didn't want to go back hearing them talk trad
So this became a very important game on the schedule,
and not just that, it just impacts the rest of
the season. And just like you said, anytime the teams
show up there, it doesn't have the number one or
two in the country, the record of zero zero, So

(42:13):
it's eager to see the effort that the guys are
going to put out display tomorrow. But I know it's
going to be max effort, and we just expect the
Sooners to keep doing what they've been doing, bulldozing.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
So Mark, well, Tommy, I want to go on record
right now saying thank you for mentoring and helping my son.
I think that between you and Corey Redd and I
think that Jacob got a lot of his education in
wrestling in football because of you guys. And you know,

(42:48):
I don't always get the chance to hand people their flowers,
So I wanted to extend that and it goes beyond
the Texas Oh you relationship. It's the the man thing
and you do a lot, not just in the sports space,
but with your faith and your spiritual spirituality. Is there

(43:12):
something that you're working on right now that you know
we can we can point to and say this guy
is more than football.

Speaker 1 (43:23):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (43:24):
Yeah, man, right now. I have some things that we're doing.
I have my second book I've been working on called
only Time would Tell. But I've just been on the
move just to encourage people to continue to endure. I
don't have anything to sell. I'm not a salesman. I
just came to encourage people and empower people to continue

(43:47):
no matter what.

Speaker 9 (43:47):
We're in some very tough times and just uh my.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
My life is just a beacon of hope.

Speaker 10 (43:54):
Just what I've been there able to live, do overcome.
I just want want people to see me, just know
that they can do it, just to inspire them to
keep their head up, to continue. I know how hard
life can be and to continue to endure to fight
through it. So that's pretty much my message. Man, the
rest of my life it ain't changing and booming sooner.

(44:15):
And also, if you gonna get me if you're gonna
get me listen, if you gonna give me my flowers,
I want to give you a botanical garden as a father.
And what you've done in this and your whole body
of work and entertainment and how you've inspired so many men.
I had you on my wall. So you've been great. Uh,

(44:37):
it's just been great to be a part of this
journey from Jacob being in high school to see him
in college and going to the right university that wanted him.
You know what I mean, you know the one that
wanted him and appreciate him, and you know the school
like this. I don't even see how you wear that
long horn. But we're gonna make.

Speaker 9 (44:56):
Sure I got your as soon as hat.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
And I got some new.

Speaker 10 (45:01):
Longhorn hats for you guys that I have for you.
I'm trying to hope they'll be made. Finish a getting
print today, so I have some for you after the victory, all.

Speaker 3 (45:12):
Right, I can't even know.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
He stroked our face and slapped us at.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
He was holding one side so it didn't move so
he could slap us. We're talking to Sooner legend and
k Town legend. My guy Tommy Harris he's from the
two five four, and we always represent when we see
each other. But I wanted to ask you this question
because you know, when you're in the league, you're playing
with different players on your squad, and I note that

(45:44):
there was a time that you were on the bus
and your rookie season headed to that weekend you were
going to a rookie Smith Simpsonium or something like that,
and you and another guy named Nathan Vasher were having
a tough time trying to have a conversation because it
was Boomer Sooner and hook him week and Uh, y'all

(46:07):
were both looking at each other.

Speaker 3 (46:09):
A little side eye.

Speaker 10 (46:12):
Oh yeah, Nya, Yeah, that's let me tell you something
that that's one of the most quiet, quietest people I've
ever met. But when it comes down to Texas, old
U week Man, I've never seen her. I've never seen
Nate to Vasha ex so out of body, like the

(46:35):
long horns over there. That's that's like if when we
beat y'all, that's gonna break everything. That's all.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
So I hope Nate vast.

Speaker 10 (46:45):
Listeners like they you don't even got as soon as
this show is ny No, I just texted Nate. I
told you, so, you know, like he don't he don't
even have to you know, you have to call you know,
yeah he was yeah, yeah, great competitor, man, great teammate,

(47:07):
great competitor, always had fun. And Derek Johnson Derek can't
stand me either.

Speaker 1 (47:14):
It seemed to be unified when it comes to them,
them Longhorns and Sooners, which is a great thing and
which why I wanted to make sure that we got
an opportunity to talk to you. Are running to you
on the basketball circuit all the time with our kids
playing sports, and both of them decide to go in
a different direction from which we did, which is all

(47:34):
good because we enjoy watching them grow up and what
they've been able to do. But I wanted to ask
you this, as this weekend gets closer, we're just a
couple days away from the big matchup. What is it
about this tech excuse me, Oklahoma defense that you've liked
so far?

Speaker 10 (47:54):
Know that of loving the most, you can't beat a
team right, and you usually it takes proud of it
about week eight or week nine where you can finally
see it. But I saw it from week one, how
fast the guys play, how physical they moved in the
Michigan game, they moved on to a higher level of
ball and then they just continue to keep getting better.

(48:17):
The young guys up front the D line is playing
out of their minds and that's what this game is
gonna come down to the trench work. But just watching
the guys have fun, play fast, and looking what the
coaching staff has done at Oklahoma, you can tell how
quick these guys are planned. That means that studying is

(48:38):
downpat information is being displayed. Guys are having fun in
practice and it's showing out. It's showing on game day.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
Yeah, and that defense is something that everybody's been talking about.
But they'll truly be tested this weekend. We can't wait
for this to happen. We'll be coming up tomorrow or tonight.
Actually we've be in town tonight and we'll try to
hit you up and see what's going on. Well, are
you sitting at home watching the game or you're gonna
be on the sideline for this one.

Speaker 10 (49:08):
No, I'm going down. I like I've been in the
stands lately, so I just I'll sit up there with
my daughter. But uh I but people don't know I'm
in there. And that's the funniest part. They just being
in there. I mean, you don't get that many chances
of sitting the stand like Mark Henry would never sit
in the stands, but I sit in the stands, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 9 (49:29):
Ship behind them people and uh.

Speaker 2 (49:32):
No, apologies for my celebrity.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
Mark.

Speaker 10 (49:40):
You be over there by b Bo, right by.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
Belo, good company.

Speaker 10 (49:47):
Don't want Mark. You want me to get your sideline
pass you know we're gonna get you better seating on
our side. Oh you side than Texas side.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
We're gonna get your sideline passed.

Speaker 9 (50:01):
Yeah, you sit over there by Debo.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
No, no, I need security.

Speaker 9 (50:08):
Oh oh god, I got you. You're right, You're right
from that other side.

Speaker 10 (50:16):
You right after that victory, you showed right you all.

Speaker 9 (50:23):
I appreciate.

Speaker 10 (50:24):
I appreciate y'all.

Speaker 3 (50:25):
Man, No, we appreciate you.

Speaker 8 (50:26):
Man.

Speaker 3 (50:27):
I appreciate you getting up this morning again. Got a
show going on down there.

Speaker 10 (50:32):
Yeah, it's gonna be someone.

Speaker 3 (50:33):
Yeah, we will be.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
We love to have you.

Speaker 1 (50:37):
We'll be at barr w tomorrow at what's the today, Thursday? Yeah,
tomorrow at starting at two o'clock. Yeah, we get closer
and closer.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
Man.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
I played football back in the day. And my head
is still hurt. So we got to deal with that, understood.

Speaker 1 (50:55):
Yeah, I'll send you the information in just a minute
to tell you where we're going to be on both days,
Friday and Saturday.

Speaker 4 (51:02):
All right, hard, all right?

Speaker 1 (51:04):
There he is Tommy Harris, former Texas or Oklahoma sooner.

Speaker 3 (51:09):
He was a man.

Speaker 1 (51:10):
He was a monster, and you should go back and
look at his high school numbers.

Speaker 3 (51:14):
What he did in high school. That dude was serious
about that business.

Speaker 1 (51:19):
Coming up next, we got to pay off a debt
to society. Well we call him Titus O'Neill, but you
know him as Daddius Buller. I'm a little upset, Mark.
We shouldn't have made the bet, but we got to
pay it off. Yes, he's coming on the game.

Speaker 3 (51:35):
That's right, Mark, you are failing us.

Speaker 1 (51:38):
But it was for our entertainment purposes only right here
on the morning kick off on Sports Radio AM thirteen
hundred The Zue, Mark Henry and Mike Hart. Yeah, this

(52:05):
is a special segment where some things happened that probably shouldn't.
We made a bet last week, made a deal with
the devil, and now the devil is coming to you know,
get his flowers. We are oh Lord, have mercy. We
are joined by Titus ol'neil Thallius butter Butther as he

(52:31):
is excited about his victory. And Mark, you brought this
upon us man by by accepting the wager. And now
we got a whole helmet looking at Welcome to the
show once again.

Speaker 10 (52:48):
Hey, can we get this over with?

Speaker 9 (52:52):
Good morning, good morning, good morning, good people affects us
and all around the world. I am Thadeus buller akawwe legend,
Tinis O'Neil proud, University of Florida Gated football alumnus, and
last week I came onto this show and spoke with

(53:15):
my brother, my good friend, my rural partner, mister Mark Henery,
and he had so many things to say about how
the outcome of the game between the University of Texas
Longhorns and the Florida Gators was going to happen in
the swamp of all places. I mean, I could see

(53:36):
if he had this confidence going on, and we were
playing in Texas, but we were playing in the swamp.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
And I know we've had our.

Speaker 9 (53:44):
Issues and as of late when it comes to the
gridiron glory that we're trying to return to. But man,
oh man, oh man, if you guys watched my Instagram story,
you would have to. I mean it was almost like
I mean on the field, I was there. I was
giving everybody a front row seat of the devastation that

(54:08):
Florida created on the college football landscape in the top
ten by the way, I mean, Texas is a really good,
solid football team. I told mister Henry that they haven't
been very successful on offense, and Florida's offense has been
struggling as well, but the defense have been playing lights
out all year all year. And I'm not gonna jump

(54:31):
on the bandwagon of media personalities that are trying to
throw mister Arch Manning under the bus. I think he's
an extremely good talent. I watched him since high school. Actually,
my son can proudly say that he's never lost to
a Manning as well, because he beat him in high
school and then he beat him again on Saturday. I

(54:52):
never lost to a Manning. My son Titus, never lost
to a Manning. And just so happens that the colors
that Manning's war in college happened to be a variation
of orange burnt Orange for the University of Texas. And
you know, uh, citrus orange for the University of Tennessee.
So I've never been beaten by Manning. I've never had

(55:15):
to come on to a radio show and be you.
I've never had to come on to a radio show
and seemingly be so boisterous about something. But when it
comes to something as passionate as I am about my university,
as much as mister Henry has always been passionate.

Speaker 2 (55:32):
And told me, hey, s you know reports radio is
bagging forth. It's back and forth, man, So you might
have anything to say except for man you.

Speaker 9 (55:44):
I'm all ears though, I'm all ears.

Speaker 2 (55:49):
All I'm gonna say is congratulations. Last week.

Speaker 9 (55:53):
I told you last week on the interview. There was
a lot of back and forth. There ain't no back
and forth. Take this, Mark, you take this what you earned.
You earned this, you know, Like my grandma used to say,
I'm gonna show you better than I can tell you,
and damn we showed you. We showed you.

Speaker 2 (56:13):
Mark.

Speaker 3 (56:15):
Hey, I'm gonna tell you this. I'm gonna I'm gonna
tell you this.

Speaker 1 (56:18):
We we came in on Monday and that was the
first thing that was said, is we gotta.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
Pay the piper. On Thursday.

Speaker 2 (56:28):
My wife, my wife, get it out of the way.

Speaker 9 (56:32):
He tried to get He say, hey, can you come
in on Tuesday or Wednesday? He wanted to get it
over with. I say, no, brother, we agreed to Thursday.
I'm gonna let this thing marinate for a little bit,
you know what I'm saying. So here we are here,
we are.

Speaker 10 (56:48):
Both teams play hard manlations congratulations.

Speaker 2 (56:56):
I really do see the fact that Florida is gonna
turn their season around. I've seen the light and I
don't want no more smoke. I learned my lesson. That's
why my mama told me not to gamble. That Henry's
Henry got Henry's got horrible up gambling, so don't do it.
And I went against it. And my mama is right.

Speaker 4 (57:20):
Looking down on me and shaking her head like, damn, food,
told you, with.

Speaker 9 (57:26):
Your heart, Mark, I can't. She can't.

Speaker 1 (57:27):
She wouldn't be upset you went with your heart, Mark.
You know that's how he gets down. He's always with
his heart, as you can see on his shirt. Right now,
he's talking about he's been sleeping on the couch because
he's got a son that's playing at Oklahoma, and he's
got his Texas Longhorn on there, and he said he
will not go against the Longhorns.

Speaker 3 (57:49):
I hope my son plays well, but he is Longhorn
all the way.

Speaker 9 (57:55):
That's a good father, that's a great father. And more importantly,
he is a lawyer. I mean, the guy's been loyal
to the Texas Longhorns ever since I've known him. Uh
And and and that you know obviously shouldn't change. I
mean I feel the same way about my son. That's
at UCF. When they played UCF played Florida, I say, hey,
I hope my son has an excellent game, but I

(58:17):
hope Florida beats the breaks off of him. I mean,
that's the reality of it.

Speaker 10 (58:21):
You know.

Speaker 3 (58:22):
That's how we built. That's how we built.

Speaker 1 (58:24):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
I love it. I do want to ask you this
because obviously, the swamp is the swamp.

Speaker 1 (58:29):
And we had Danny Davis, one of our local guys,
UH talked about being in there, and he said it
was deafening in there.

Speaker 3 (58:38):
The entire game.

Speaker 1 (58:39):
Is that what you're you used to hearing obviously because
you played there, but more importantly, now being on that sideline,
you get a chance to hear it all.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
It was pretty intense, right.

Speaker 9 (58:50):
Yeah, it was definitely one of the loudest games I've
ever been to. Uh, even as a player. Uh, you
know a lot of that a lot of times, and
Martin knows been major crowds of WrestleMania, et cetera on
the football field. As a player, you don't really hear
it that way because you're so tuned into the game.
But sitting back and watching it as a fan and

(59:12):
and and and seeing the hearing the responses, it's it's
almost like being at a w W E show, you know.
And I think, uh that that crowd that night definitely
contributed to, uh, the the outcome of the game.

Speaker 11 (59:29):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (59:29):
It caused a couple of false starts in crucial moments
and in the in my opinion that that was the
major the major difference of the game was was that
we effectively ran the football. Like I said, I can't
I think Arch Manning is a tremendous talent, you know,

(59:49):
I don't know that I honestly, in my opinion, I
feel like he's the most athletic of all the Manning
uh namesakes. But I feel like they probably need to
move him around a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (01:00:02):
They're trying to send him back in the pocket and
just having to be a pocket passer. And I think
that that's kind of putting him in an awkward position
for right now, for him being young. Let him move around,
let him use his athleticism, because man, when he took
off a few times, just as loud as that stadium was,
it got quite real quick.

Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
Oh hey, tight as you you got to see it firsthand.
Being an alum of Tim Tebow, I can see Manning
playing out of the pistol more and being able to
be a running quarterback.

Speaker 10 (01:00:38):
And but.

Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
What do you think that against that?

Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Like Vince Young was kind of more of a spread
running quarterback when t Bow was in that pistol. Which
which option do you think will work best with what
his skill? Say is, I think arts can do both.

Speaker 9 (01:00:56):
To be honest with you, Like I say, the kid
is like really ath and and he's got a really
good harmon ent. I think he you know, from a
from a passing standpoint, he's better than both of those
guys which you just talked about as far as accuracy
is concerned. But I feel like he he's got the

(01:01:16):
the athleticism to to run the pistol and run the
spread offense effectively and he'll I think he'll be more
of a threat in in a in a different offense
that way, him sitting back and just doing five three
five steps seven step drops every play. I don't feel
like it's the best offense for him. I don't personally,
and even I think he's more Josh Allen type football players.

Speaker 4 (01:01:44):
Yeah, yeah, so I said the quick game would be
the best for him.

Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
You you you think that the quick game would be
better like three step and uh maybe five step at
the most.

Speaker 9 (01:01:59):
Yeah, I would say, I mean, yeah, a quick game
would work for him, but moving him around where he
has options that if it's not that, if it's nothing
there go You know that to me is what would would.

Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
He froze up?

Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
Like you y'all both over there? What y'all got cricket?
Y'all got cricket on y'all's internet.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
Well, I'm gonna tell you right now. I'm at this
hotel in Beaumont, tex And bou mine is not known
for a lot of things except for good food. Everything
else is something.

Speaker 9 (01:02:40):
And I'm at my school, so I like, you know,
you might hear a bell or something.

Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Can you tell us quickly about the school, please, because
I think that's one of the more interesting things about you. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:02:55):
Yeah, So there's a public school here. That's the results
in the six heightes zip code for kids living in
part in the entire state of Florida. It's in the
East Tampa. The high school graduation rate at this area
was twenty four percent when I first started at the school.
I started originally coming here during birthday parties for kids
that couldn't afford to have birthday parties because I didn't
have a birthday party as a kid. And then that

(01:03:16):
morphed into Champions of Character program we started, and and
then essentially me working with the school district here on
changing the narrative of this school without costing the school district.
But I did my own fundraising. I put a turf
field here, I got a street hockey rink out here
in the back in the middle of the hood. But

(01:03:38):
more importantly, I put them on a house system, which
is a derivative of a school in Atlanta called the
Ron Clark Academy, and his house system is based on
Harry Potter. My house system is based on the word pride.
Because there was no pride. We have five houses, everybody
on the staff and every student positivity, respect, innovation, determination

(01:04:01):
and excellence. In the first year that we put this
into place, we had a sixty seven point increase in
our school grade, which was the highest in the state
and sixth in the nation. For demographic of kids, we're
one hundred percent free and reduced lunch kids here at
this school. Many of them come from the same background
that I come from, same background and Mark comes from.

(01:04:23):
And we're changing lives here and in a powerful way.
The school was about to get shut down by the state,
along with the elementary school behind it, and you know,
the school district gave me a shot and took a
chance on what we were doing, and we're creating something
really special. I mean, if you walk on campus now

(01:04:44):
versus how it looked before. We got a whole academy
on the other side that has a TV production studio
at it, music studio, an entire room dedicated to mental
health and wellness. We do art therapy, equine therapy, the
dog therapy, music therapy with these kids and these families

(01:05:05):
throughout here. We do wellness days that bring out the
entire community. And I built a Prosperity Center that actually
services the entire zip code. So we do everything from
remsol assistance to job seeking opportunities. We do pre legal
aid all except for criminal people that have tended issues.
We have a lot of veterans that lived in this

(01:05:26):
area that were homeless and they could not find their benefits,
so we have attorneys that work with them to get
them housing, to get them benefits, to get them medical services.
The list goes on and on, but that's a very
small time capsule of I started coming here in twenty fourteen,

(01:05:48):
put up a post which they actually when they renamed
the school after me, they printed out this post and
within a year of what I had posted, seventy eight
seventy five percent of the stuff that I said I wanted.

Speaker 10 (01:06:02):
To do here was done.

Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
So why don't you leave with that rather than talking
about Floyd? Because everybody liked you. That See how everybody
loved you.

Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
Mark mister, Back and forth, back and forth. I was
originally brought on this show because we made an agreement
that I would talk to you about the outcome of
the game. So see how direction this question You say?
Hey man, it look like you at your school.

Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 9 (01:06:36):
That's a miss on your part.

Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
I never got a chance. You never gave me the
opportunity on my show. I had you put him it
in front of the screen.

Speaker 9 (01:06:46):
I had that for at least you say, I had
that there for at least ten seconds. You could have
easily said, hey man, move that. It seems like you
might be you know, you know what I'm saying. You
could have derailed it your you know psychology, Mark, you
know you gotta flip the script real quick. We saw
your retirement speech, Rob. You had a whole world thinking

(01:07:09):
you about to retire, Bro, So you could have had
the whole world completely forget and me included, completely forget
why I came on this show.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
I don't think I am. I don't think that I
ever apologized for lying to you and Fred for a year.

Speaker 9 (01:07:27):
In the car.

Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
You was crying to.

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
You was crying too. Don't be trying to.

Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Put it all on Tells Is on Crime Public.

Speaker 9 (01:07:39):
You know what I'm saying that Fred asked me, He said,
did you know It's like no, Man, I ain't know, Bro,
I ain't know at all.

Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
Well that is we're up against it, buddy.

Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
I appreciate you jumping on with us and congratulations on
your victory, but more importantly, congratulations on all you're doing
in your community and continue the success. We will not
talk to you again until next year, so you can
forget about it.

Speaker 9 (01:08:02):
Yeah, you can have me. You can have me on
any time.

Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Next year.

Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
Hey man, make sure your internet go out real quick.

Speaker 9 (01:08:11):
I'll see appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
Heymen, Tell them kids, I love him.

Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
Man. Yeah, save to the yards, bro, save to the yards.
When we come back, bro, well we'll have the world's
strongest take. It's gonna be like two minutes, but we're
gonna do it right here on the morning and kick
our old Sports thirteen hundred zone.

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
There he is w W.

Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Hall of Famer and World's Strongest Man, Deeve Mark Henry
as he brings you his world's strongest take.

Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
Take it away, big fellow. Alright, what's up man?

Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 3 (01:08:45):
What time is?

Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
It's time for the world's strongest take by the world's
strongest man, Marcus. Back then they didn't know me, but
now I'm hot. They all me. I feel that even
more so right now because I'm down in this area

(01:09:06):
in Southeast Texas with that Big Texas energy is prevalent.

Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
But I got a short, world strongest take today because
it happened.

Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
Knowing that it's knowing that it's football season, I'm going
to talk about something related to basketball season. NBA is
about to start and one Victor winding Yama is been
training with Hakeem Olajahwan. I sent you guys a video

(01:09:42):
of him working out with Hakeem. Hakeem was showing him
several moves that would fit his game skill set, one
of which is a back cut spinning baseline. He wants
him to get into the paint and spin out of

(01:10:04):
the paint and shoot from fifteen to seventeen feet. The
first time that he showed Victor winn and y'all in
this move, he was able to do it and the
kam said, you did this before. The guy has grown

(01:10:25):
two inches since last season. They had him listed at
seven to three and a half. Now he's seven five
and a half. Guys, it doesn't look good for the West.
What say you are?

Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
Yeah, I mean he's he's a freak if he can
stay healthy. We've all talked about it. There's no surprise
to me that he is this good. I mean, when
you're that tall and you're able to do the things
that he's capable of doing. Or watched him play the
other night. He's just effortless in every thing that he does.
So I'm not shocked by this. I don't know exactly,

(01:11:04):
you know, a keeam, what he's been able to do
is one thing. But that's not for a seven foot
five guy. You know what I'm saying, a seven foot
five guy, nobody's blocking that. He's the one that's gonna
be the intimidator. So I'm glad he's working with people.

Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
He worked with.

Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Kevin Garnett, He's worked with all the greats. So he's
gonna be just fat. He's gonna be just fine, and
so that's good stuff for him, an exciting time for him,
an exciting time for Spurs fan. I'm telling Marcus, this
is gonna be probably one of the best years in
basketball in the state of Texas on the pro level,
because all three of the teams are gonna be in

(01:11:44):
contention at some point.

Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
So I'm excited about it.

Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
When we come back, we'll close out the show and
send you to Dan Patrick. Major League Baseball and NFL
Action tonight, and there was some big home runs hit
yesterday right here on the morning kickoff on sports Radio
Am third The Zone.

Speaker 3 (01:12:01):
Great day of interviews.

Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
If you missed any parts of that, get over to
our podcast page and check out all the latest, and
you can also go back and listen to a lot
of our podcasts from the week, a lot of our
well yeah, all of our podcasts, but all of our
interviews as well.

Speaker 3 (01:12:17):
We've had a great great.

Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
Wad special shout out to our guy, Eric Henry of
Horns two four seven. Go look at his latest article
over there at Horns two four seven about his conversations
with the players, talking about the respect that they have
for Arch and what he's been able to do. We
also had a conversation with Boomer Sooner, Great Tommy Harris

(01:12:41):
as he broke down this matchup and the respect that
he has for Kate Town. I love me, Tommy, And
of course we just got schooled. We had to pay
off our debt to society with Thaddeus Buller Titus O'Neill
WWE Superstar, ww Legend, and he.

Speaker 3 (01:13:01):
Let us know all about how the Gators.

Speaker 4 (01:13:05):
Be still swollen shit right now?

Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
Yeah, because I don't like it. It's been a rough one.

Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
It's been a rough one, but you know last night
he was rough too, as the New York Yankees got
sent home.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Come on, man, you talk about it.

Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
It's got to be talked about because now that is
what sixteen years of not winning a title and the
stories continue to be about Boone as the coach. Is
he still the right guy for the job. A lot
of people are like, Nope, got to get him out
of here. But you know how that goes, it's gonna
be unexpected. But last night there was also some big

(01:13:42):
time home runs that were hit in the Mariners game.
As the Mariners end up losing to the Tigers nine
to three, and they pushed the series to two to two.

Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
For one of them freaking.

Speaker 8 (01:14:01):
Their first lead since the eleventh inning of Game one,
and it's Riley Green to give it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
To him four to three to twin they end up
winning that game nine to three. You also had the
Cubs defeating the Brewers. Just keep that series alive. The
Brewers still lead two games to one the Blue Jays
in the Yankees quest five to two. But they can't
say anything about Aaron Judge. He's had a he had
a great, great series and continued to do it and

(01:14:29):
the Dodgers had double dose of Kyle Schwarber.

Speaker 8 (01:14:34):
Dodger starters have been a major story. Oh, Schwarber gonna
send one.

Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
Way out of here.

Speaker 10 (01:14:41):
How far will it fly?

Speaker 8 (01:14:43):
My goodness, Kyle Schwarber with a tape measure shot up
on top of the pavilion, and right that is one
of the biggest bombs you will ever see. Now the
Phillies tie it up immediate on a short ball here.

Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
In the fourth.

Speaker 5 (01:15:02):
Well, I figure too, Oh you might see a split
coming right here.

Speaker 8 (01:15:06):
No, sir, he gave him the fastball, and Schwarber, it's
good as there is.

Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Hitting that pitch four hundred and fifty.

Speaker 8 (01:15:13):
Five feet, got a three run fourth. And now Schwarber
a high, towering fly ball. That one is deep, Fernandez, we'll.

Speaker 5 (01:15:25):
Watch it fly.

Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
It's another bomb.

Speaker 8 (01:15:28):
Kyle Schwarter has done it again, and the Phillies have
busted in wide open.

Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
Here in the eighth.

Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
I know Craig Way is not happy about that, but sorry, Craig.
Now you get one more day of baseball. You get
another chance to see the games as they continue their quest.
So today, starting at five o'clock or four o'clock, I'm
not sure.

Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
The Phillies will host.

Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
The Phillies will be on the road taking on the Dodgers,
and then the nightcap will be the Brewers and the Cubs.
As those series continue to go Mark tonight, we also
have NFL action as the NFC East is on display.
Philadelphia is a seven point favorite right now against the

(01:16:13):
New York Giants. I told you everybody was excited about
daks A Dacks, Jackson Dark and then all of a
sudden last week he gets punched in the face and
things kind of change.

Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
But Philadelphia keeps winning.

Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
They lost last week, but they're having trouble in Paradise
when it comes to their team because a lot of
people want the football and they're just wanting to do
the passing game, but instead they need to run the
football because that's their key to success.

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Yeah, I mean, everybody's suffering when you go out of
disarray and you don't work towards winning the game.

Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
Saw Barkley is not getting the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
He's averaging fifty three point seven yards of carrys the game, man. Yeah,
the fifty three yards of game is well below his
average fifty yards almost And of course brown And is

(01:17:16):
not getting the ball, and it's doing a lot of
complaining that those are things that easily fix. Winning fixes everything,
and because in the quarterback, in the eyes of the quarterback,
winning fixes everything. He's got to convince these guys from

(01:17:37):
a leadership standpoint, guys, we need to win the games.
Like I know you want the ball. That's gonna be
days when it's all about you because of the matchups.

Speaker 4 (01:17:48):
So we'll see how that all plays out.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
Just for the record, A J.

Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
Brown has the same amount of targets as Justin Jefferson
this year, so he's been targeted plenty. It's just a
matter of not connect. So there's got to be some
things that's got to be worked out. No doubt, we
will be on the road. We are headed to Dallas
courtesy of our good friends over at the Yellow Rose,
and Covert is given the vehicle for you boy. I

(01:18:15):
will be in Dallas. Mark will be in Dallas. Come
and see us.

Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
We'll give you all the details.

Speaker 1 (01:18:20):
About where we will be all day tomorrow and of
course where we'll be on the fairgrounds.

Speaker 3 (01:18:26):
For Marcus, for Mark Henry, I'm hardball harsh.

Speaker 10 (01:18:29):
Just remember this.

Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
Don't believe everything you see, because even salt looks like sugar,
see you tomorrow, FULKS piece
