But I am your host, Mike Harball Haars. My co
host is a WWE Hall of Famer, and we will
have a WWE legend on the show with us today.
(01:22):
But he is a Hall of Famer and he's recognized
as the world's strongest man.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
He is d Mark Henry. Good morning, Austin, and of course.
Speaker 1 (01:28):

one five three zero. Standard data and message rates may apply. Also,

Speaker 1 (02:07):
We're here for you and will be here for you
all day long, because this afternoon we'll be joining the
Craig Way Show from Twin Peaks off of Stassiny Lane.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
That will take place from two to six.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Come over and hang out, say hello and listen to
the show, and we'll get you ready. We'll talk all
SEC conversation because the SEC is wide open, as we've
heard from a lot of folks mark yesterday. Coach Stark
had talked about this earlier, and one of the things
(02:41):
that Coach Stark had talked about was the injury report, right,
so he kept saying, y'all just be ready to check
it out.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
On Wednesday night.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
So everybody and whoever's covering the University of Texas, they
all tweeted out the injury report because it's the first
time but Texas being in the SEC play that they
had to release an injury report, And yesterday it came
out and it says CJ. I mean, yeah, CJ. Baxter
is doubtful. That's as of today now questionable. Emit Moseley
(03:16):
the fifth when Trayvan Weisner and Kobe Black are all questionable, probable?
Is Malik Muhammad an Xavier feel some mean? So my
question was I didn't even realize that there was something
going on with Malik Muhammad, so I wasn't paying attention
(03:37):
to that. But the Emmitt Moseley question is what everybody's
been talking about.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah, I think he's gonna he's gonna play.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
I think you gotta at least get some get some
reps in quality SEC play. If you get hurt in
quality SEC play, it's not like you got hurt at
Utah because people say, well, why did you play him
at Utem You can win that game without him?
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Why'd you play him at San Jose?
Speaker 2 (04:07):
So now that it is SEC play, you can actually
get away.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
With it and not have any scrutiny about it.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Well, Florida has five guys that are out, well, actually six.
Treyon Webb running back, edge rusher, l J McCrae, dB
Aaron Gates, their top running back, Jacoby Jackson, he's out,
Dion Johnson, he was supposed to be their lockdown corner.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
He's been out for the whole year. In Caleb Banks.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Defensive linemen are all out, So they will be missing
six guys this year, I mean this weekend. So we
will see what ends up happening with that. But Coach
Sart got a chance to talk about this defense yesterday
on his weekly teleconference. We'll have more from coach start
tomorrow because he has his final conference with US or
(04:59):
his final presser with the media. Leading until the weekend,
but he was talking about these linebackers for Florida and
how tough these guys are.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
First, it starts with Ron Roberts, the defensive coordinator. I
think he does a great job, been doing it a
long time at a really high level. They're they're there,
they play together really well. You know, they've they've got
a they've got a very stout defensive front that allows
them to play a lot of split safety defense, and
(05:32):
then coordinating that front with the back end obviously puts
a lot of pressure on the two linebackers. And their
ability to play the run and the pass I think
is probably what what makes them special, because you know,
there's a lot of times they don't they don't have
the outnumbered in the box, and those guys have to
get off blocks and make tackles. But in the same token,
(05:52):
they're required to to essentially play man coverage on tight
ends and running backs, and they do a great job
of that. And so their versatil to do both and
to tie the front with the back end I think
speaks to you know, not only the physical ability of
those two guys, but but the but the football iq
that they play.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
With, and that's gonna be important because you know that
coach Sark and what he does with the motion and
how he moves guys around, and he tries to manipulate
your defense to where they're gonna be spots for Arch
manning in this running game as well. So that's gonna
be something that they're gonna have to pay a lot
of attention.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Well, you're you're onto something because you you just mentioned motion.
They haven't been doing that this year yet. And now
the SEC player is starting. I look to see Texas
go back to figuring out who what coverages what right
by putting people in motion and now you see somebody
run across and you know, okay, there man, this guy's
(06:51):
lined up and if not, you throw them the ball.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
It makes arch job simple.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
But like when you have to play head up and
you play vanilla basic, then you don't get to really
scheme anybody.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
You don't get to trick anybody like that. So, man,
this is this is good. You know, this is the
time where we start to see if there's going to
be any form of changing for this football team and
the expectations moving forward. Also, he wanted to know, you know,
how much are the growing pains for Arch due to
(07:25):
his first year of being a starting quarterback.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
You know, I think at the end of the day,
there's always going to be growing pains, you know, and
whether you get those growing pains early, in the middle, late, whenever,
you know, in your first season, there's going to be
growing pains and there's going to be learning experiences. The
key to the drill is to learn from those experiences
and grow from them. And I really credit Arch and
I credit his teammates for the way they've handled that
(07:51):
through the first month of the season. I thought those
guys handle it really well, have come out on the
other side of it, and they have been using it
as a real positive to grow from and so end
and of the end, it's kind of like, well, I'd
much rather have those growing pains early than later, and
we got them, and now he can he can get
back to, you know, being the player that I know
(08:12):
he you know, he wants to be in is capable
of being in the teammate that that he wants to
be every single day, and the leader that he is
and the impact that that has on the other guys
and the team as well.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Yeah, and I think Arch has done that.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
And if you listen to anybody and you look at
the other guys that are part of the leadership council,
and they are the ones that are keeping this team
uplifted and locked into what's going on. You know, because
it's easy for us to sit back and we can
be critical of this, we can be critical of that,
but it's those guys in that locker room that have
to wrap their arms around a guy that is struggling.
(08:46):
And at the very beginning, he was struggling a little
bit and then he had to figure out, Okay, let's
find a way to get our rhythm back. And I
thought last or two weeks ago, uh, during the bye
week the Sam Houston game, he locked in and he
was having fun again. Now, is he gonna be able
to walk out there and have that kind of fun
this weekend? We would all hope. So we would hope
(09:07):
that he could go out there and play like that.
But there are gonna be some of those moments in
the game where things aren't going. You're not you're not
scoring on consecutive drives. Because Florida's defense, we just heard
from coach sark on what they bring, So we're gonna
have to see how his body language kind of adjusts
if there's not success.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
I think the best part of that is the fact
that ours gets the lean on a good running game
and a good defense. Everybody else has got to stand
up and give him the battery in his back to
feel like he can go forward, right, and if he can,
if Texas does that, have a successful running game, hopefully
(09:48):
Q is back, hopefully backshit plays, Yeah, that would.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Alleviate the pressure.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Now you can ars can be like, hey, I'm gonna
I'm gonna i'm gonna scramble a little bit, We're gonna
give first downs, and then we're gonna hit him like.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
It gives you that confidence.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
So let's just look forward to seeing if then everybody
steps up.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
In that offensive line, like.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
It's no secret that's That's kind of been the thing
that I've I've been paying the most attention to, right
because if they can keep him upright and keep his
uniform clean, then he don't feel the pressure up front
and he can get his job done.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Well. One of the things that Sark also touched on
was the season and how it's in sections. As I
talked about before, I said, this was the first quarter
they went through four games. Now it's the first quarter
of the season. Now we're getting into the second quarter,
and Sark was talking about that and his message to Arch.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
Yeah, I would say, the way our the way our
scheduling lined up, it's kind of like, you know, we
just finished up preseason play, you know, with with four
non conference games. Uh, and now we're into the regular season.
You know, now we're into SEC play. We've got eight
straight SEC ball games, as we know, all very difficult
and challenging, not only physically but mentally and all that
(11:08):
that entails and emotionally, and you know, for ourch's continue
to be him. You know, I think that's one of
the things that we've been harping on here is that
you know, as much as the attention swirls around him,
you know, he doesn't have to play to that attention,
whether it's positive, negative, whatever it may be, and focus
(11:28):
on his teammates, focus on what he needs to do
to prepare, focus on having some fun playing football.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
That's when he's at his best.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
And I think in the end of it all that
that'll serve as repositive for him.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Well, he's going to be locked in and ready to go,
and I can't wait for that.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
We'll have some more in Texas Longhorn.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Conversation a little bit later when we have Eric Henry
of Horns two four seven joining us at seven thirty four.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
But coming up next, we're going to talk Texans.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Cowboys, big weekends, big victories that they they've had.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Now can they move on? We'll see right here on.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
The morning Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Welcome back to the morning kickoff right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Coming up in the
next segment, we got our guy Eric Henry of Horns
two four seven breaking down this Texas matchup as they
make the trip to Gainesville and he gets a chance
to go back to Florida for just a little while.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
But I want to get.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Into this conversation because the Dallas Cowboys in the Houston Texans,
the Texans come off of big victory. The Cowboys come
out in a pillow fight and go forty forty tie.
And by the way, I need to figure out if
Mark was right about his little prediction about Marcus. Can
you go back to our page where we wanted to
(12:49):
see how many people wanted to watch doubleheader and football?
I ran into five people after that and they said, no, man,
I just need one game. I need one Monday night
football game. Come on now, Because I was I was,
I just were supposed to watch football and it's Monday
night and we're supposed to watch one game. And I
was like, hey, man, save it. I'm watching two games
(13:11):
because I got that.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
I got it like that, And and the results are
fifty three point six percent says one game only forty
six point four percent says sure. I like options, there
you go. Congratulations. Yeah. I don't know about all that,
but we are the one. Yeah you one. You the one.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah that's Colin Simmons number one. Yeah, I'm the one.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
So there you go. People, people people like what you said. Mark.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
They were they were impressed with what you said about
we just need one game. So there you have it.
And the and the people spoke they.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Told you, I told you, come on, man, I told
you tell me exactly that's exactly that's exactly right.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
But I do want to get into this because the
Houston Texans think that they might have found something after
that performance last week.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Now, let's take it for what it was.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
The performance was against a Tennessee Titan team that as
yeah word that he said, I'm gonna keep it a buck.
We are blank And that's exactly what cam Ward said.
We're not very good right now. I don't I don't
like losing. So we got to figure it out. So
you start to look at what they did and you
(14:31):
try to say, all right, is this offense ready to
be explosive enough?
Speaker 3 (14:35):
And here's what c J. Stroud had to say.
Speaker 6 (14:38):
Uh yeah, I think just what the program that I
was on with Clint it was was really good for me.
I was in here really early, just trying to you know,
take a step forward in my.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
Being twenty three. I'm not like fully in my grown man.
Speaker 6 (14:57):
Bodies all the way in you know, I'm still growing
every like every year, and I just think like I
got to just continue to be hard on myself about
not only just lifting waste, but eating the right foods.
Speaker 7 (15:07):
Like that's been a big thing too.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
So yeah, that that's just a thing where I think
the explosiveness comes from, like being better on my diet,
being better with you know, stretching, and like I feel
like I'm getting old, so I got it. I'm not
I'm not as quick as I used to be. I
was watching my high school stuff a couple of days ago.
I was I was like one eighty and I was
rolling and I no more. But yeah, I try to
(15:33):
just be better with that stuff so I can run fast.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
CJ is he is.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
He on that that Mike mcdone's is on because he
sounds like he never did an interview before in his life.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
He was cloudy. Brother didn't get a nap. We know,
we might we might need to test them for a concussion.
We might need there you go, concussion.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Somewhere along the line, he took a hit because he
sounded like, who do.
Speaker 7 (16:06):
I play for a year old? I think you know.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
He didn't know how to answer about the explosiveness, and.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
He was confused on life.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
He was confused all everything that was going on for
him at that particular moment.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
At some point, I was hoping that the person interviewing
would say, you know what, let me let me let
me rephrase this, let me rephrase, let me rephrase this question. Yeah,
what do you owe the twenty sixth to nothing victory?
Two differently that y'all did in practice this week.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
But it was more about him being able to change
the way his diet was I'm more explosive this way
because of this and all this other stuff.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
So I'm just like, wow.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I mean, he just he started with yeah, like he
threw him off with the question I quiz.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
It wasn't paying attention. He just heard out there. Yeah,
that's what it was. He heard his closness. He used
to be quick. Yeah, I'm looking at it.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
And the thing is he started with, you know, I'm
not even in my grown man body.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
I'm still a young guy, but I'm not that we
might need to check. We might need to check on
his Uh. He went he went up and he went down.
We're gonna see what his awareness is.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
But some guys that are being aware impactest are are
some of these young rookies. And Domico obviously is excited
about his rookies because.
Speaker 8 (17:35):
Of the trust that they've shown with the opportunities they've given.
Speaker 7 (17:38):
They've been given.
Speaker 8 (17:39):
Like you give Higgs an opportunity to go get the football,
He's done it several times, made a lot of big
catches for us. We got to get him more, right,
you see Woody and what he's done in the run game,
in passing game, he's earned op to get more opportunities, right,
and tay like, we know how tough it is to
play left tackle in the league. Actually, as a young
(18:01):
rookie coming in starting at left tackle, he hasn't blinked.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
He understands.
Speaker 8 (18:06):
He takes under ownership of his jobs. He takes his
role serious and he's working at it every single day
out at practice, working on getting better, working on the
small fundamental techniques of hand placement, right footwork, hat placement.
How he's finishing, he's there. I love the way they
work right. And Noel is another one. I go out
(18:27):
to practice early. He's out there early, catching punts, catching
kickoffs like he's working at his craft and nobody beats
him in a meeting. He's always the first one in
the meetings. And he's just he's he always works the
right way. You could tell he's he's raised the right way,
like comes from a really good family, good background, just
(18:48):
asks really good qualities about him that I love him.
So I excited. When you draft guys and you're watching guys,
you're watching their college tape. You see things that you like,
but to see it come to life quickly here in
the first month of the season, it's cool.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
And to see where their trajectory is going.
Speaker 8 (19:06):
It's we've got some really good young rookies, have a
promise in future.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
I hope that our young listeners are hearing what he
just said. Because when your dad or your mom or
the coach trainer tells you be first in the in
the training room, get your medical stuff out the way
so you can be in the meeting first. It matters
to these coaches who's studying the longest, who's getting work
(19:34):
before practice, who's getting work after practice, who's doing all
the necessary things to make themselves available for their teammate,
who they're going to play with on Saturday or Sunday
or Friday. If you're a high school kid like those
things are important to the coaches. And you know what,
(19:55):
coming from a good family is not an option for everybody.
But you see that when coach Sark says that he
likes the second generation because they already know what that
job entails because they saw their mother or father do it.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
That's why they do that hard.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Yeah, well, you got to make sure that you you
handle your business to make yourself better because we can
only do so much. Transition into the Cowboys and what
we saw on on Monday, what was that Sunday night
was George Pickens becoming a number one wide receiver and shot.
He talked about it. I thought it did great.
Speaker 9 (20:38):
I thought, uh, you know, he played well, made big
impact plays. You know, you know, I think you see
the confidence that Dak has in him, and uh, that's
you know, you know, something that you expect when you
add a player like GP that has that type of
talent is getting him.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Up to speed. And you know, this week we're gonna
move him around a little bit more.
Speaker 9 (20:57):
They're probably going to try to match Sauce Gardener on
him and saw us a great player and it'd be
a fun matchup to watch.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
The one thing that the Cowboys definitely need to do
is figure out how to tackle, because they continue to
miss tackles, and there's something that they're paying attention to.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
He talked about the miss tackles earlier.
Speaker 7 (21:14):
There's always going to be miss tackles.
Speaker 9 (21:16):
Do you guys have like maybe zero is the number
that is acceptable each week for you?
Speaker 7 (21:21):
But how many were there? And you know how many?
Speaker 9 (21:24):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah, Well we had too many.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
I don't have the exact number in front of me.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Those usually getting tallied up once we get the grades
and stuff in and I just don't have those numbers
in front of me.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
It was too many. Because what happens if.
Speaker 9 (21:37):
If you've got a guy and you've kind of got
him in the cup, and let's say it's at the
thirty yard line, all right, and you should get them
and we say either knock them sideways or knock them back.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
That's our word. You knock them sideways, you knock them back.
Speaker 9 (21:51):
Well, if that guy that should be tackled at the
thirty gets up to the thirty four, thirty five, thirty six,
that's five or six hidden yard, Well that over the
course of seventy plays, those four five six yard hitting
yards become forty sixty seventy.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
And we're too good at tacklers to let that happen.
Speaker 9 (22:12):
And so there's a technique to it, and I don't
think it's anything new.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
To the league.
Speaker 9 (22:18):
Tide the way you know, people you know are smart
with practice and how they do it in training camp
and stuff like that. Usually tackling gets better is the
course of the season. But we need to get better,
and it starts with technique and using our hamstring tackles
and using your leverage of the of the Cup that
we're trying to create.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Man, Listen, here's the deal.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
I understand all of the nonsense and about the tackling.
That's because you don't have people tackling early in the year.
That's because you're good in practice.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
The technique was bad exactly.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
That I mean, don't listen, man, we all saying attention
to the game, awesome preseason not playing about that's yeah enough, Yeah,
it's like ridiculous. So don't give me that on the
things that you know are gonna hurt feel So it's
just like, man.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
You sound like these if you make a tackle, you
don't you don't tie a game. Make a tackle stop
one time.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Coming up the next we got our guy, Eric Henry
of Horns two four seven joining us to talk all
things Texas Longhorns and the Florida Gators right here on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to
a prediction Thursday edition of the Morning Kickoff right here
on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Mike Harballhart's
(23:33):
World Strongest Man, WWE Hall of Famer, the Mark Henry,
and of course Marcus behind the boards. And it's Thursday
that can only mean one thing I got Eric Henry
of Horns two four seven is joining us and e
We're about to get right into it. Obviously, the Florida Gators,
they're not playing football the way that they would normally
(23:54):
like to play. And DJ Lagaway, DJ Lagway has been
the one that has been struggling at the helm. It
looks like he's gonna be good to go. His name
was even on the injury report, But do you see
that do you see a way of him getting going
against this Texas defense?
Speaker 4 (24:13):
First off, Morning appreciates y'all having me on as always.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
It's two ways I'm going to answer that question.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
One in terms of DJ Lagway, I don't think he's
gonna be able to get going, and I think in
part it's because Harjen Mark Florida's defense. You talked about
DJ Lagway not appearing on the availability report. Florida's defense
has plenty of players that did appear on the availability report,
and that's been the strength of this team.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
In order for DJ.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Lagway to get going against this Texas defense, which already
was gonna be a tall task as is, I think
he would need plenty of opportunities from his defense, giving
him the ball back via turnover via you know, turnaround downs,
forcing Texas to punt. I don't think they're gonna be
able to do that because, as I mentioned, and Steve
Sarkegen was very complimentary, very high on Flora his defense.
(25:00):
But the amount of injuries they have, I just don't
see it holding.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Up man That's an interesting part too, because when you
do look at that injury report, you're like, Okay, this
guy's out he plays linebacker. This guy's out he plays corner.
This guy's out, he plays d line. So they've got
somebody missing on every league running. But the thing for
me is for coach start looking at that defense.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Does this one of those games that arch Manning.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
Truly has to show he's ready to take that next
step into SEC play?
Speaker 3 (25:34):
I wouldn't. It depends on what you mean by that hard.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
The reason I say that is because he doesn't need
to come out and throw for thre hundred yards and.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Three second he did against Sam Houston.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Right, Can he be a steady quarterback protect the football?
Listen for those who don't know are maybe making the
trip or even those are just gonna Wathington and backer
in Austin it's gonna bring.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
It's gonna rain on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Right, it's about a forty to forty five percent chance
of ragin which hard you know and Mark you know
as well, spend time in Florida. You say forty five
percent chance ran at someone it's gonna raid, right, So protect.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
The football, play smart football, but make the throws that
are there.
Speaker 7 (26:11):
Right.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Of course, as I mentioned the weather, we'll play a
factor and maybe how much they do throw. But you
just want to see him build on what you saw
from Sam Houston, that connection with Ryan Wingo Jack injuries
is a guy I think Texas needs to get back
involved in the offense again. Ideally Contrave young Wisner will return.
You mentioned CJ. Baxer being out. Trey Wisner is slated
to return questionable right now, you just want to see
(26:33):
steady growth.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
For me, I don't even come.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Out and you know, light the world on fire, but
I need to see enough from this Texas offense to
make me feel good heading in to ou.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
We all know that you're a Florida guy. Who you
going with?
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Well, first off, Mark, just to two ways I can
answer that question. One, I am a Florida native. That
is correct, I was.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
I know, I was not raised. I was not raised
a Florida fan. I was raised a Florida State fan.
Ironically enough.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
Secondly, Mark, I'll have been good at two things, playing
sports to a relatively high level, got a little Division
two football out my system before I realized I wasn't
going to the NFL and doing this job. So with
this job means I get to be a completely unbiased reporter.
I'm going for nothing but a three hour game and
some good press box food.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
That Hey, well, you know what, man, you got me
with that.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
You know, if you're going there for the food, you
know what, more power to you man being partial.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
So we're talking to Eric Henry of Hohores two four seven.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
You can follow him at Eric c Henry Underscore on
social and he, you know, coach Shark talked to yesterday
and was very complementary. As you said of that Texas
excuse me, that Florida defense and especially the linebackers. But
if there is a spot that Texas can attack, what
position would you think it would be?
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Okay? So, you know, Steve said something interesting.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
If you take a look at Florida's defense, their top
third in FBS and a lot of categories, but they
don't get a ton of sacks, hard and Mark, not
a ton of sacks, not a ton of tackles for loss.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
It's the old dichotomy.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Right now, we're not Texas, that's true, right, But it's
the old dichotomy guys, right, Is it the pressure that
makes the secondary on a defense or in this case
with Florida, is it the secondary that covers so well
that makes the front seven? In this case, this secondary
definitely is the strength of the defense.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Now, as I mentioned, they're banged up.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Dejon Johnson their top corner out, Aaron Gates their star,
their nickel cornerback out.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Cormani McClain is a guy to look at, guys.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
Last year Texas made a point to pick on Cormani
McLain last year. For those who are no former five
star recruit, was one of those Florida kids that Dion
coach Prime got to go to Colorado as a five
star recruit.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Didn't work out there.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
He actually had to go home to Florida and they said, hey,
we don't have a scholarship for if you're willing to
pay your way, we'll get you a spot on the
roster and that's how he earned his way back. But
he's the number one corner for Florida right now with
Dejon Johnson being out. He had a pick against Carson
Beck two weeks ago against Miami, but Texas made a
point to pick on him last year. If there's an
(29:16):
area you're gonna look at, I think it's Cormani McLain
specifically in the secondary.
Speaker 7 (29:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
I think Texas is definitely gonna try to throw the
ball and they're gonna do quick throws like make make
these guys prove themselves.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
I'm a fan of.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Just power football, and Texas has the potential to do
power football. Do you think we had a rainy situation
that that's the way they should go? One Mark, This
is a game for Baby Rhino, heading back to his hometown.
Jared Gibson, a native of Gainesville, Florida.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Actually, you know, quite a few Texas players we spoke
with on Monday who have Florida ties talked about the
need that they got to get tickets. Anthony Hill has
a lot of family in South Florida. Of course, CJ. Baxter,
you know, likely won't make the trip, but you know,
of course of Florida native, but to your question, Mark, Yes,
I think this is a game where Jared Gibson, provided
you can hang on to the football, right, that's the thing,
(30:12):
especially put it on the carpet, because that's that is
the one way that will allow Florida to get back
in this to get in this game is with turnovers.
But I think Jared Gibson, Quintrae Jan Weisner, and then
of course with the rest of the group that were
Christian Clark and James Simon.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Yes, I do see this being.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
In some form or fashion, whether it's a power game
to open up the pass game, or maybe the pass
game can get some things early and you close with
the run.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
The power run game is gonna play.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
A fact run sacer before we let you go, I
don't know if you've already made your prediction over at
Horns two four seven. Let me know what you think
about your score prediction as Texas makes their first trip
to Gainesville in a lot hard time hard.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
You know, it doesn't matter if I made a prediction
and now I'm gonna give it to y'all. All right,
I appreciate that. I appreciate that. No, I'm looking at
something to around the effect of twenty eight to ten.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Listen, this is a game that quite frankly, styles make fights,
and Texas would be in danger if they fall to
some of the struggles such as not getting conversions on
third down penalties, things of that nature. But Florida's offense
is just too bang up at this point. You know,
DJ Lagway, you talk about his struggles the offense as
a whole, and real quick. Billi Napier's coaching for his
(31:23):
job week to week, and it's hard to you know,
have success when you know if this thing gets out
of hand, Billiy Napier might not have.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
A job on Monday, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
There is Eric Henry of Horns two four seven. Make
sure you follow him all weekend long as he will
be in Florida. He boots on the ground, He'll let
you know everything leading up to game time, and of
course you can check out all of his great articles
at Horns two four seven.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
As always, my brother, thank.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
You any time Fells. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. There he is,
Eric Henry of Horns two four seven. When we come
back major League Baseball, that's right, we got some We
got some splaying in the and some good sound for
you right here on the morning kickoff on sports Radio
and thirteen hundred the Zone. Great stuff from Eric Henry
(32:09):
Ors two four seven. He's got the Longhorns one in
twenty eight to ten. Hopefully they can handle their business.
And that is a great, great number.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Coming up.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
At the top of the eight o'clock hour, we will
go through our predictions of the week, Doug. Just remember,
folks entertainment purposes only only just so you understand, and
we'll give you all those numbers. And we'll have Titus O'Neill,
WWE superstar and of course former Florida Gator, but we're
(32:41):
gonna go by his government name and we're gonna come, good.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
Man, We're gonna call him Battius Bullard. There you go,
there you go. We'll have him on the show talking Texas,
Florida as well. Well.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Right now, I want to get into Major League Baseball.
The days continued to row, but last night the New
York Yankees finally evened up the City Ghost to force
a winner take all matchup.
Speaker 8 (33:05):
Seventh pitch of the back coming to Austin Wells, eight lines.
Speaker 10 (33:09):
Winning the right field all chism to third.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
He's being waged, Eyton coming home.
Speaker 11 (33:16):
Here's the throw.
Speaker 10 (33:22):
Thet Yankees have a lead on Austin Wells singles at
the speed and Chisholm.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
And think about that.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Chisholm, somebody that was not even in the lineup had
to come in and pinch hit the day before to
put him in the game.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
He makes things happen.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
And of course the Yankees now have tied the Red
Sox of one game to one in a winner take
off matchup that will take place tonight. The Dodgers eliminated
the Reds eight to four. That that was just practice
for them. They were just getting warmed up for the
next round. And so the Dodgers have now advanced. And
(34:00):
of course, yesterday the Padres, behind my guy Manny Machado,
decided to even up the series with the Cubbies.
Speaker 9 (34:08):
Padres have had their chances again today zero for seven
so far, runners and score position.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
And Machado cranks the first pence to deep left field.
He had half the watch to go.
Speaker 10 (34:21):
Manny Machado destroys the first pence splinter. The Cups do
not turn to the bullpen and Machado hits it over
the bullpen. Three nothing, San Diego.
Speaker 12 (34:32):
It's got to be the dudes, And for the Padres,
it is Tatis, it is Machado.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Boom boom Manny Machado smoothest third basement in the game,
hits a three run home run, and now they too
will take on the Cubs for the winner, take all matchup.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
Did you hear that pomp?
Speaker 1 (34:52):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Yeah, that in the Yankee game when when you're just getting,
just getting the base hit.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Yeah, and bringing that run in.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
My apartment was so close to the Yankee Stadium that
whenever that happened, you heard it through the wall.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
That's how close it was. I missed New York, but
I couldn't stay there.
Speaker 7 (35:14):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
And in the game that started it all yesterday the
Guardians and the Tigers. The Tigers were up one game
to none, but the Cleveland Guardians behind a big home
run by the man who ended.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
The Houston Astros dream of getting into the playoffs.
Speaker 13 (35:34):
Well, with the shot on the sunball and that it's
in that put home fastball.
Speaker 14 (35:50):
Just tucked his hands in so perfect, and the noise
right off the bat, you knew it had to chance
to win. Wasn't holding out up fastball?
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Second cop got.
Speaker 15 (36:00):
The play.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Kill has got to be feeling really good. Well, he wasn't.
He didn't want to be in the party alone.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
So Bo Naylor, who was a big pickup for them,
decided he wanted to be a part of it as well.
There's bou Naylor, ah for three today, oh for four
in his career against this pitcher, the two to two
pitch hit in the.
Speaker 10 (36:21):
Air and right back play the love times.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
What has got in of these Cleveland gunns?
Speaker 15 (36:34):
Six times we've.
Speaker 14 (36:36):
Been talking about shadows. I don't think they care about
him there unleashing.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Here in the other thing.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
That's a big time game, big match. I love the signing,
his fund they can getting all the rings they're getting.
So today it starts with the Tigers playing the Guardians
today at two pm. Then you have the Padres and
in the Cuve, and you finish it off with the
(37:02):
Red Sox and the Yankees for all the marbles, for
all the marbles. If I had to pick right now,
I'm gonna take the Tigers because I just love what
Jack Flaherty has been able to do for the Tigers.
I'm gonna take the Padres because you Darvish is on
the mound for the Padres. Sorry, Cubbies, and I am
(37:22):
going to take the Red Sox because the Yankees always
find a way to blow the league.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Yeah, first of cowboys, now is what they just They
just raise your expectation and then pull the carpet right
after that.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
I mean, I'm right, this is for entertainment purposes. I'm
just saying what I believe. But you're an expert. And
when you say when you start talking baseball, you're and
you're gifted. Yeah, so I'm like, that hurts my soul. Well,
don't let it. Don't let it because this picture for
the cold I'm gonna watch now, Well, that's a choice
that you making. I would be the one to encourage
(38:02):
you to watch your team. Okay, you twisted, mom, because hey,
if you can't cheer for him, who will you know
if you can't cheer for him?
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Oh man, this is horrible.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Man. I just I told Janney yesterday. They keep making
horrible decisions in the dugout.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Like when they fixed it yesterday. You gotta win, Yeah,
but still you gotta win.
Speaker 7 (38:28):
It.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Don't change the fact that we got a guy that
went thirty to thirty and he was sitting in the
dugout looking eating asking people to go getting my hot dog.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Not cool.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Well, he's back in the game now, and I guarantee
you he'll be in there today because if he's not,
I think everybody in New York.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Would have if fame guy that used Kelly yesterday. So
he's I'm not worried about him coming in and.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Relieving, so he'd be back at it again. No, they're
not gonna bring him in here tonight, I would hope.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Now, coming up next, we're gonna give our predictions and
of course at eight seventeen, you don't want to miss
our interview with Titus O'Neill with his government name saturda
Is Bullard right here on the Morning Kickoff on sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to our
number two of the Morning Kickoff right here on Sports
(39:22):
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. In our number one,
we listen to coach Sart talk about the Florida defense
and the expectations of Arch Manning as the season continues
to row. We also got a chance to hear from
the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans about getting better
week to week.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
All.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
We also got a chance to talk to our guy
Eric Henry of Horns two four seven, and of course
we talked to Major League Baseball. Also make sure if
you missed any parts of our show, you get over
to our podcast page and go back and listen to
a lot of those. So I want to make sure
that we continue to move forward, and of course you
(40:02):
can listen to all things Texas Longhorn right here on
the Home of the Texas Longhorns and thirteen hundred Zone.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
This afternoon, we will.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Be at Twin Peaks Stassiny location with Craig Way, the
voice of the Texas Longhorns, Cam Parker, myself and Mark Henry.
We will be doing a roundtable discussion about the SEC
and of course getting caught up on all things baseball
because the games will be on as well. But right
(40:33):
now we're going to give you an opportunity to lose
your I mean to use these as entertainment purposes when
you start to look at all of the predictions. As
you know, we've been doing this for four weeks now
and some of us are getting better, some of us
are staying the same, and there's some changes that are
(40:54):
being made amongst the crew. So right now we are
sitting at Mike Harch eleven in thirteen, Mark Henry eight
in sixteen, Marcus thirteen and eleven. So Marcus is in
the positive with the dollar dollar bills, and we will
kick off with our first matchup this weekend.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
Marcus, you have the tea box, sir. We're starting college football,
nice football. We're going college football picks first.
Speaker 12 (41:23):
I am starting off with Vandy plus to ten and
a half at versus Alabama.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Mark Henry, Well, since we're gonna start with Alabama and Vandy,
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
Alabama minus ten and a half. That is a big number.
So we're gonna all go at this game. And I'm
with Marcus on this. I'm picking Vandy plus ten and
a half. I am going to go with the Texas
State Bobcats. That's right, eat them up. Cap GJ. Kenny's
name is being thrown out there as a possible candidate
(42:00):
to replace Mike Gundy. But he's gonna go to Arkansas
State and handle his business minus thirteen.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Mark Henry, I'm gonna go the Texas and m Aggie's
versus Mississippi State.
Speaker 3 (42:15):
I'm going to Mississippi State.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
Mississippi State a fourteen and a half point dog to
the Aggies. Mark Henry has taken Mississippi State.
Speaker 12 (42:24):
And I am also taking Mississippi State in the fourteen
and a half versus the Aggies.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
Okay, okay, okay, there might be some furniture moving up
in here, Mark Henry, your third and final game of
the college slate, Texas Florida.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
I'm going Texas well over the spread the.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Six and a half. Texas is favored about six and
a half. If Eric Henry no relation is right, twenty
eight to ten, you have that cover.
Speaker 12 (42:56):
Marcus, I am taking U see A plus the twenty
four and a half versus Penn State.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Give me those points. Yeah, Marcus is one chasing them
points this time.
Speaker 7 (43:07):
Man.
Speaker 11 (43:07):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
My final pick is going to be un l V.
Speaker 7 (43:12):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
UNLV is taking on Wyoming on the road. They are
minus three and a half. I am taking un l V.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
Now we go to the n half of l Mark Henry,
give us your first pick. Give me my music. Okay,
there it is. I'm going the Rams over the Niners.
Speaker 10 (43:34):
That is three.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Yeah, I'm going with it tonight, Prime Video. That's right,
minus eight and a half. Mark is taking the Rams.
That's a big number. But hey, it is what it is. Mark,
so many people out.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
I'm going I poll to Mark. I'm taking the forty
nine ers plus the.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
Eight and a half versus the r Oh Here you go,
I said, And I am taking the Minnesota Vikings minus
four and a half on that Sunday morning kickoff versus
the Browns.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
The Browns have made that decision to.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Go with Dylan Gabriel, but I am taking the Vikings
because they've been over seas the entire week, so they're
not gonna be jet lag.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
I will take the Ravens plus one and a half
over the Texans.
Speaker 7 (44:23):
Just can't do it.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
I just don't see the Texans getting ready to get
to that next spot.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
I know that Lamar is out, but you still have
Derrick Henry run that man.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Mark, I'm going against you, yep. I'm gonna go Texans
over the Ravens. No, Lamar, load the box, got.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
You, and I will go Chiefs minus three and a
half to the Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
Minus three and a half. Jack jar Marcus final pick
of the day, Cowboys.
Speaker 12 (44:59):
I got a uncle who's probably laughing at me right
now in Houston. Cowboys minus two and a half to
the Jets and out shot to keV Beg Kevin, I
got you.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
I got you.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
I'm gonna go Broncos and Eagles, and I'm going Broncos
for the first loss for the.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Eagles people, and they're gonna be losing their mind on
that one. I am going Chargers minus two and a
half over the Washington Commanders. Jaydon Daniels is coming back,
but I don't know if he's gonna be ready enough
to go to LA to take on those Chargers.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
He's gonna have to work some points out. They're playing
really good too.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
It's gonna be interesting to see. So the picks are in.
In the college game, I went Van de plus ten
and a half, Texas State minus thirteen and a half,
and un LV minus three and a half NFL. I
went Vikings, Ravens and Chargers. Mark Henry went Texas Longhorns
out of Alabama, Mississippi State, the Rams, the Texans, and
(46:07):
the Broncos. And Marcus with Vandy ucla huge number, the
biggest number I've seen plus twenty four and a half.
Mississippi State, the Chiefs, the Niners, and the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
Marcus, I just still can't believe you did that. I
can't believe you picked the Cowboys. Yeah, that's the biggest
shockra of the night because.
Speaker 1 (46:29):
I thought for sure you were picking the Texans game,
either the Houston Colls because they're playing Texas Tech this weekend.
That's a big time game for them.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
Well, see, I decided this. I'm deciding this.
Speaker 12 (46:41):
I definitely stayed away from the Houston Texans Ravens game.
It's too much heard in it for me.
Speaker 3 (46:47):
So oh so you like both teams. No, I'm rooting
for my team. I'm the room for the Texans.
Speaker 12 (46:53):
Okay, but it's like if I picked the Texans, then
I'm double whammy.
Speaker 1 (46:59):
Yeah, yeah, that's gonna be that's gonna be rough for you.
I'm yeah, these picks for this weekend, there's some great games.
As we talked about, the one that we all are
on that's gonna keep our interests for sure is that
Vanderbilt and Alabama game. That is a game that, as
we talked about yesterday, College game Day is in attendance.
Speaker 15 (47:23):
It is.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
Everybody's talking about Vanderbilt and what they've seen from Diego
Pavia clark Lee, the head coach. I really enjoyed listening
to him and the way he addresses his team. He's
a former player at Vanderbilt, so he knows all about
that program and what the expectations are going into it.
So it is a big time matchup for them, and
(47:47):
this will put them in that spot where you look
at Vanderbilt and this is a team that if what
it's say been say for a long time, one team
you don't ever lose to is Vanderbilt.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
Well, now they get an opportunity to do it.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
They played them last year, they beat them at Vandy,
so now you're starting to look at this Vanderbilt team
a lot different. But the big story is Kaylin de Boor.
He went from being thrown out to being run out
to being bought out to now they're trying to figure
out how good this team can be. And their Tdy Simpson,
(48:21):
the quarterback is one of the Heisman Trophy candidates right now.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
So this is a big matchup for.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
Every's a big game for college football. Yeah, yeah, it's huge.
That's why game day is there.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
And you know what, like game day is always the
number one barometera of what the game of the week is,
but the fan bases are the second thing that defines,
like what is.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
A good game. Everybody on TV is talking about it.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
Everybody that has an affiliation the Booge McFarlands.
Speaker 7 (48:52):
Of the world.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Everybody is talking about that game. But it all starts
with the swag of Diego. Man. That guy out just
makes you want to roof for Vandy or punch him
in the face.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Yeah, it's either all the noise he makes. His offensive
linement and defensive lineman have to really work hard.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
Yeah, I mean he is he but he is playing
at an elite level as well. So when you look
at his numbers, But everybody's gonna say, who did they play?
Speaker 3 (49:24):
Who did they play?
Speaker 1 (49:25):
They played the people that was on their schedule and
they handled their business because then they did and the
story would be a lot different.
Speaker 3 (49:30):
And this is the reason why this game is so
important for him.
Speaker 1 (49:33):
Yep, because he's gonna put hisself in a big time
matchup SEC. This is a team that I'm sure that
the over unders on the season were a little bit
different than what people thought. If you thought that they
were gonna come in and their number was at eight,
they're already almost there, you know what I'm saying. And
then you get that win, you're like, Okay, but this
(49:54):
this is, uh, it's a barometer game where you're gonna
get You're gonna get measured at the highest level right
now because of the history. But do you look at
them and say, well, it was Alabama with with Kaylin
de Boor and people don't look at Kaylyn the border
to say, I mean, that's the way that you judge
so much. He shouldn't be the one that's really wanting
(50:15):
and he definitely wants this game, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
I mean both.
Speaker 1 (50:20):
This is a bit and it's crazy to say you
get a skin on the wall for Vanderbilt, So it's like, yeah,
you start looking at it a little bit differently. But
coming up next, we're gonna talk about Florida with Mark's
guy Titus O'Neill. That Eus bullet as he joins us
right here on the morning kickoff on sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 15 (50:42):
Let's Mark Henry and Mike Hart.
Speaker 3 (50:56):
Well, you know what that music means.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
That means that we have I have a very very
special guest who is a legend in the locker room.
He is a former Florida Gator football player, and what
better week to have him on as the Texas Longhorns
will travel to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators.
His name is Thaddius Bullard, but you know him as
(51:20):
Titus O'Neil from the w W E. Titus, thanks for
joining us, my brother. I appreciate you hopping on with
us this morning.
Speaker 7 (51:29):
Thanks for having me and your boy.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
Mark has been waiting for this moment because you know
you already know the deal. So let me let me
briefly say this.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Titus and and Fred Rosser, they both roll with me
for years and like these are like my brothers, and
we have you know, your friendly robberies about sports will
draw you the blows.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
We have been in the car many a Saturday getting
ready to go to a show and Texas is playing,
and Titus would.
Speaker 7 (52:10):
Run us down.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
Y'all don't play nobody, y'all playing Baylor, y'all playing, y'all playing.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
Rains. I said, man, Florida not good, no more, Hey man,
I was.
Speaker 2 (52:24):
Two bits I'm doing. Then he used to let me
have it. Hey man, you better pray your lucky stars
that Florida goes out there and represents, because oh, what
you gonna hear from me is not gonna be pretty.
Speaker 11 (52:41):
Hey, trust me, I'm already prepared. Like when we don't
play in football, but were playing another sports out here
from Mark, we're playing softball and Texas be Florida softball.
Speaker 7 (52:55):
It's it don't matter. He gonna give it to me
no matter what. So when it comes to football and
the fact that both me and him every me and
him a friend.
Speaker 11 (53:05):
Every time we go to Austin, Texas, we always worked
out at the Austin at the Texas Long Orange Football facility.
Mark has an amazing relationship with with with the university
and he's you know, gone back all the way back
to the days when mad Dog was the head string coach.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Put this Texas shirt on here working out, you.
Speaker 7 (53:27):
Gotta put.
Speaker 11 (53:29):
Yeah, yeah, And I'm like, you know, and but Fred
didn't have no problem, you know, putting on a Texas
shirt because Fred wanted free stuff for me.
Speaker 7 (53:39):
Free is for me.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
Let's get into it, man, Let's talk a little bit
about this. Because your Florida Gators have struggled a little bit.
People on the national scene feel like Texas had struggled
and didn't look good.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
But you go back and you look at and you
compare both of these teams.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Texas is on the plus on this side of it,
But there's waking giant that is sitting with that Florida
Gator football team. We're big fans of DJ Lagway and
hopefully he can get better, but I hope it's next
week and not this week. So you start to look
at this Florida team and what do you think is missing?
Speaker 11 (54:16):
As a former player, I think that well, first and foremost,
the defense has been playing lights out the entire season,
in my opinion.
Speaker 7 (54:25):
But at the end of the day, you.
Speaker 11 (54:27):
Know, if they're out on the field a lot longer
than they need to be, eventually there's gonna be some breaks.
Speaker 15 (54:33):
You know.
Speaker 11 (54:33):
You take the game versus LSU, you know, five turnovers inexcusable,
you know, in the least bit and it's you know,
and we can make all the excuses that we want
to make. You know, DJ didn't take any many reps
in the spring, he didn't take many reps in the
in the fall.
Speaker 7 (54:52):
And this and that and at the end of the day,
but in my opinion, you as a.
Speaker 11 (54:58):
Coach, you have to figure out ways to, you know,
kind of minimize those opportunities for him to have those mistakes.
And I think Billy is a tremendous football coach. I
really believe that. Like, he's a great man and a
great football coach. But you know, when you look at
statistics and you see, you know, a twenty and twenty
(55:20):
one record and only a few wins versus ranked opponents
over the three year span, then and then the offensive
production or lack of production therefore, then you got to say, okay, well,
what can we do differently? Can we have another offensive coordinator,
play pick plate pick play calls or whatever?
Speaker 1 (55:39):
This and that.
Speaker 11 (55:41):
So I'm not gonna like, uh, I think Billy is
an amazing man, you know, an amazing coach. I just
hope that the players, much like they did in the
second half of the season last year, Uh, turn that
corner and and everything starts clicking for the right reasons
and the right ways.
Speaker 8 (56:00):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (56:00):
And I think that you know this, this this week.
Speaker 11 (56:03):
Versus Texas is an opportunity for the offense to go
out and produce, special teams to go out and produce,
and defense, like I said, I feel like defense has
been playing lightsile football all season long.
Speaker 7 (56:18):
But again, as a defensive.
Speaker 11 (56:19):
Player myself, uh, you know, if I got to stay
on that field, a lot longer than what I'm typically
If I'm getting three and outs and I'm getting turnovers
them and we're not capitalizing on the other side of
the ball, at some point I'm going to get frustrated
as a player.
Speaker 7 (56:33):
But in the same token, I still have to do
my job as a player.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
Tell you you're being a defensive player and uh as
confident a man as you are.
Speaker 3 (56:44):
You didn't say that with a lot of bass in
your voice.
Speaker 11 (56:47):
Oh no, I said I said it would I said
it with realistic expectations. My realistic expectation is if we
go out and we are effective on offense and we
played this play defense like we've been playing the entire season,
Texas has struggled on the offensive side of the ball,
(57:09):
So we we just got to match over or supersede
what we've done on the offensive side of the ball
to the fact that match what the defensive side of.
Speaker 7 (57:19):
The ball has been doing.
Speaker 11 (57:21):
I don't, and well for one, I don't for one
second think that we cannot go ahead and beat Texas
this weekend. I don't I believe that we can beat Texas.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
The pulse of the pulse of Florida and the pulse
of the fan base in Gainesville. How are the fans
dealing with the way Florida has been represented over the
last couple of three years.
Speaker 11 (57:43):
Uh, they don't like it. I mean, and anybody that
has any pride in the school wouldn't like it. You know,
we are trying to get back to uh being in
the conversation of national championships and the SEC championships and uh,
you know that is not a knock against Billy's coaching ability.
That is a realistic standard that's been set not just
(58:07):
for you know, this generation, but you know when I played,
After I played, you know, when I played, we won
a national championship, We were in a national spotlight in
the top ten consecutively a year and a year out.
We had winning records. We weren't struggling to figure out
whether or not we were going to play in a
bowl game. After I left, the same thing was happening.
(58:31):
Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer had a hell of a
run and winning two national championships there and then there
was still some success. At least we weren't the butt
of the jokes and conversations. I mean, when you got
coach go thirty on Instagram breaking down your film. That's
not a good thing at all. So I think that
(58:56):
their frustration is very warranted at the fact that, like
we have some of the best facilities, if not the
best facilities in college football. We have a hell of
a donor base and people that are willing to pour
into the collective. But they also want just like Texas
Football wants and Ohio State wants and LSU wants and
(59:17):
all these teams that are and Notre Dame and everyone
else that is putting resources.
Speaker 7 (59:20):
And money, they want to win. And you can't blame somebody.
Speaker 11 (59:25):
That's sitting in the swamp at three point thirty in
the afternoon in Gainesville, Florida, where there's no breeze to
want to sit there and watch.
Speaker 7 (59:34):
Their team lose.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
Yeah, that's it. That's gotta be tough. I wouldn't know
nothing about that.
Speaker 7 (59:40):
But you about to find out.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
So you just did a show man on Bravo called
Kings of the Court, and you know, I didn't know
you was looking for love first off, and secondly did
you find it on that show?
Speaker 11 (01:00:00):
I would say I found a better piece of my
understanding of what I want in a partner. I think
it was a great experience I did choose a queen
that I felt like I can continue to journey with.
Obviously that journey is done. The show was shot a
(01:00:21):
year ago, so a lot of things can.
Speaker 7 (01:00:24):
Happen and transpire. I'm glad.
Speaker 11 (01:00:26):
I mean, as you probably saw on Instagram, me and
Carlos and Jenei are very close and they're still going strong.
They just celebrated there one year quote unquote anniversary from
the show and being a couple.
Speaker 7 (01:00:38):
Uh. But you know, for me, the show was.
Speaker 11 (01:00:40):
An opportunity to find a genuine connection and there were
several a couple of people on that show that I
thought I had a genuine connection with.
Speaker 7 (01:00:48):
But then when you're you have to operate outside of
that space.
Speaker 11 (01:00:52):
You know, reality TV is uh, you know, it's a
it's a different animal in itself, much like WWE. You know,
it's a constant, ground, constant, ground, constant. When you said,
I get it, yeah, yeah, so you know what it said,
It's like you like that. You know, you're a perfect example,
(01:01:13):
because we've talked about this numerous times on the road,
like you never got so consumed in the being a
WW superstar that you neglected being a father, you know,
to your two amazing kids. You never neglected being a husband,
You never neglected giving back to the community. I think
(01:01:34):
our our drawing point to one another is that we
both represent that, you know. And how cool is it
that now both of our sons signed an n IL deal.
They come in on the same class and they're both
playing college football at Division I school. We ain't gotta
pay for it, you know what I mean? Like to me,
that's that's that's what I feel like life should be married. Yeah,
(01:02:00):
I feel like that should be like for me, the
reality the reality space for me what there's have been
a lot of tremendous other things that have come from that.
And this is not a knock against doctor Khalier or
any of the contestants, uh that were a part of
this process and journey.
Speaker 7 (01:02:19):
But at the end of the day, like, were you
better coming out of it than when you went in?
Speaker 11 (01:02:26):
And Will Packer and Lighthearted Entertainment gave me an amazing
opportunity and an amazing platform with Bravo and Peacock to
show people not who Titus O'Neil is, but who Fatty's
bullet is. And so I can rest very good.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Annoying that Titus can you give us the cliff nos
version of where you came from and how you became
the man that you are. You have a book that's
called There's no such thing as a Bad Kid.
Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
That you know. I just was amazed by you would
give us that that cliff.
Speaker 11 (01:03:01):
Note, quick, quick, No, I'm a problem of a sexual assault.
My mother was raked out eleven years old, had me
at the age of twelve. I was labeled a kid
that would be dinner in jail by the time I
was sixteen, grew up in poverty, being told you know
that what I'll never do, how I'll never be got
a chance to go to a.
Speaker 7 (01:03:20):
Place called the Floridashire is Boy's Ranch.
Speaker 11 (01:03:22):
At that place, mister pat Minogue said the two sentences
that really changed my life. The first one was there's
no such thing as a bad kid, and he said
that in the midst of me getting ready to get
kicked off of the boy's Ranch, and he refused to
allow me to be dismissed. The second thing was, you know,
he told me that he loved me and that he
(01:03:43):
believed in me. Well, a lot of people had told
me that they loved me and that they believed in me,
but they turned it around and abused me, beat me.
Speaker 7 (01:03:50):
Cursed me, et cetera.
Speaker 11 (01:03:52):
But nobody ever told me that they actually believed in me.
They told me they loved me, but then it was
complete opposite of love. So because of the conversation, because
of that space at the Florida Shares Boys Ranch, I
became the first person in my family to graduate from
high school, first person in front of my family to
graduate from college the University of Florida. Numerous honors and accolades,
(01:04:13):
but the greatest accolade and the greatest prize for me
is and always will be my children, TJ, Titus, and Leah.
I wrote a second book which Mark actually contributed to
that book as well, Wrestling with Fatherhood, which basically chronic
put my journey to my championship, journey to to my
greatest title. I think every man that has a child,
(01:04:37):
regardless if they're a CEO, WW Legend, WW Superstars, NFL's MVP,
if they have a.
Speaker 7 (01:04:43):
Child, that's the greatest title that I ever have.
Speaker 11 (01:04:46):
And you know, having the opportunity to not only raise
my children but helped three hundred plus kids go to
college over the last fifteen years, running the largest back
to school bash in the entire country, thirty thousand backpacks.
Speaker 7 (01:05:01):
We do it at Raymond James.
Speaker 11 (01:05:02):
Stadium, health, physicals, all the things that I didn't have
as a kid. So I just know that, like, this
isn't a Thaddeus Bullert thing. This is what God had
planned for me, even an unfortunate circumstances. And you know, again,
if people say, what my infinity to my brotherhood, what
(01:05:23):
Mark is, It's not because he was the world's strongest man.
It's because I know his backstory. I know he grew
up poor in Sylby, Texas. I knew that all the
things that he had to endure to get to what
he got to. I was in the car when he
considnced me man out because.
Speaker 7 (01:05:41):
They pranked him.
Speaker 11 (01:05:42):
And I was there front row and center when the
whole hall of pain began.
Speaker 7 (01:05:48):
You know what I mean, Mark was done.
Speaker 11 (01:05:51):
But how he said, you were going to respect me,
you were going to I don't play like. He was
very matter of fact me the most powerful man in
sports and entertainment at the time, and that in itself
said you know, that was the stamp of approval that
he didn't need, but he got it from me as
(01:06:12):
a brother because he was what I felt like black
men should be in every sense of the word.
Speaker 7 (01:06:20):
He went from something, he went from nothing to something.
Speaker 11 (01:06:23):
He pours into other people and he uses his platform
to help so many people. And I just I appreciate
you know, this platform to be able to say thank you,
you know to him. We'll text every once in a while.
I know we'll text a whole hell of a.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
Lot more than.
Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
Hey, I'm gonna call CLINICX and get a good deal
because my eyes are leaking a little bit.
Speaker 7 (01:06:50):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
Thank you so much for joining us, man, And I
thank you for that message too, because last Mark said,
a lot of people don't know that story, and you
being a will to share that now has given us
another platform to continue these conversations.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
You're credit through the world.
Speaker 7 (01:07:06):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
We appreciate you, and keep doing the great work. And
congratulations on all your success and keep keep pushing. But hey,
make sure you make sure you have your phone on
on Saturday and go Gators.
Speaker 7 (01:07:21):
Hey, I tell you what, man, how about we do this.
Speaker 11 (01:07:26):
When when lose a draw the Gators win, y'all have
me on the show next week the Gators lose, y'all.
Speaker 15 (01:07:35):
Have me on the show.
Speaker 11 (01:07:40):
That's yeah, I could tell you what, one hundred percent certainty.
Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
I want you to learn the eyes and take it.
Speaker 7 (01:07:50):
You're gonna have to it.
Speaker 11 (01:07:52):
I'm telling you with one certainty. If the Gators win,
I'm here first of y'all be, it's gonna be.
Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
Thank you.
Speaker 7 (01:08:08):
I'm thirty right now. I'm down.
Speaker 15 (01:08:10):
We do.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
We're down for it. We down you all next starsday,
no matter.
Speaker 7 (01:08:14):
What, no matter what, You're all right, we got it,
locked in.
Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
We locked in.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Appreciate your brother, bustle up. See you next week. All right, man,
I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
Man. That is outstanding, So we will have him again
next week.
Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
Coming up next, we got the world's strongest man giving
this short world's strongest take right here on the Morning kick.
Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
Off Real Show. On the Morning kick Off on Sports.
Speaker 1 (01:08:36):
Radio AM thirteen hundred w WE Hall of Famer and
the world's strongest man, he Mark Henry, gives you his
world's strongest take.
Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
Take it away, big fella. Alright, what's up? You know
what time it is, Thomas.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
It's time for the world's strongest take by the world's
strongest man.
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
Acus. Back then they didn't know me, but now I'm hot.
They all on me. This is a short one, guys.
The Eagles one Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
AJ Brown got targeted eight times, had three catches for
a little bit of yards, nothing to write home about,
and was the first when the game was over and
they had the victory, he was the first guy in
the locker room. Stormed off the field like a child
and went to the locker room with his head down
(01:09:31):
with a win. And he posted the next morning, if
you're not welcome and not listen to quietly withdraw, but
don't make a scene. Shrugged your shoulders and be on
your way. He's pouting. But then today he said, well,
(01:09:53):
that wasn't directed at my team. That wasn't direct AJ Brown. Listen,
I was born at night, but I wasn't born last night.
Say it with your chest if you if that's how
you feel, then that's how you feel. My take is this,
If you're a man enough to say something.
Speaker 1 (01:10:12):
Standing on it hards, what say you? No, that's that's
I'm fine with AJ Brown. I wasn't talking about football.
I'm fine with him. He's a spiritual guy and if
his heart told him to say that, then that's what
he needed to say.
Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
And it is kind of confusing. I mean, don't go
back on it though, But here's the deal. He's right.
They need to get him the ball. Go look at
those passes.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
You talk about how many times he was targeted, Go
look where those passes were.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
His passes was out of bounds. I don't count as
a target. That sounded like a sway. I mean, don't be.
Speaker 7 (01:10:48):
Putting them on me.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
And not only that, he's your best offensive player not
named Sakon.
Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
Get him the ball. Go look at those numbers of
them winning one hundred and thirty yards.
Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
Passing in a game, and you got a top wide receiver,
two of them to be exact where you are not
throwing the football.
Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
So the frustration is real.
Speaker 7 (01:11:07):
Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
Coming up next, we're gonna close out.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
The show and send you to Dan Patrick Thursday Night Football.

Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
This is what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
The two rivals, two teams that are trying to get
back to the glory days of playing for a championship.
But first they have to beat each other to get
to that. And tonight, tonight we have NFL football. We've
got Marcus going against Mark in a big time matchup,
(01:14:29):
forty nine Ers and the Rams. My pick is the
Rams because I picked them earlier in the year.
Speaker 7 (01:14:36):
You know that the.
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
The forty nine ers are all banged up.
Speaker 1 (01:14:41):
It was released yesterday that Rock Party who played last
week is not going to be able to play this week,
so they're going back to mac Jones Mac Jones and yep,
it's not a good look for the forty nine ers,
and that no member is pretty big. But I like,
(01:15:03):
I like what I'm seeing from Matthew Stafford poking the cool.
Jay Witt is getting a lot of love as well,
So I'm rolling with.
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
The Rams on that one. Come on, man, I should
appreciate you getting two days in a row. You got
my back, man, you took my sign two days in
a row. Guys, I'm starting to have an effect.
Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
Listen, let me explain something I'm having affect goods. No, don't, don't,
don't buy into a goots. I think happy at himself
for nothing, and we're not.
Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
Not at you for that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
I'm not with you if you're happy, you know, but
who you got in baseball because I talked a little
bit about it about who I'm rolling with.
Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
Obviously, we know you got the Yankees, we get that,
But who else do you have?
Speaker 7 (01:15:50):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
You know I'm watch nobody else. N I'm I'm a
I'm a Dodgers fan too. I mean, and not because
I'm not there. You go, I don't like nowhere else.
I don't like nowhere else, man. And I told you,
(01:16:11):
I'm I've only been a baseball fan since two thousand
and three.
Speaker 1 (01:16:15):
And when was that was Yankee's winning World championships? Then hey,
when you became a Lakers fan too?
Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
No, I was in New York. I just happened to
be living in there. There's two other players. There's another
team in New York too. But I lived uptown. I
lived seventh blocks. I live uptown.
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
Sounds a little font listen uptown, Harlem. It's not fancy,
it's not right. I mean the stadium, yeah I could.
Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
I could hear it through my walls.
Speaker 5 (01:16:47):
Yeah I can.
Speaker 7 (01:16:47):
I can hear the game.
Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
I'm not apologizing for my greatness. Y'all be pick on
me all you want to. I'm sorry I was. I
couldn't hear you because the game was going on.
Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
Hey listen, man, just I pull up on cars and go, hey,
excuse me, could I borrow your great poopon?
Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
Yeah, that's exactly what it sounds like. He's sitting here
in his apartment here the grandee man can man can
love it, love it. Yeah, there's a lot of that
going on.
Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
So we will definitely see what ends up happening, uh
tonight with Major League Baseball, and these are elimination games,
so everything is on the line. I can't wait. This
is it. You ain't got to go home, but you
can't stay here because the next round is when people
really start to dive into it. And all these different
(01:17:40):
teams that are are affiliated. So the winner of the
Tigers and the Indians will take on the I mean Guardians.
I mean what I say, my man, the Guardians Guardians
and the Tigers.
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
Will take on the Women. That's a politic get yeah,
I'm sorry, guys, I didn't mean to say that. They
will take on the Seattle or depending up.
Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
If Detroit wins, then they will end up playing the
Blue Jays.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
So a lot is riding on to this.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
The Dodgers will now take on the Philly starting this
weekend and the winner of this matchup between the Padres
and the Cubs will take on the Milwaukee Brewers.
Speaker 3 (01:18:24):
Can I say that?
Speaker 7 (01:18:24):
Yeah? All right?
Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
Cool for Mark, Henry, for Marcus, I'm hardball hard. Make
sure y'all have a good day. Don't forget tune into
the Great Way Show. They'll have a couple of special guests.
Mean good morning kickoff will be on with them right
here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred pe so on.
Don't believe everything you see, because even salt looks like sugar.
Speaker 7 (01:18:43):
Peace,
