said in the opening, defense wins championships, and that is
what has been happening on the Texas football practice field.
And the defense has been overwhelmingly better than the offense.
Right now, I saw my guy Chip Brown over at

Horns two four seven mentioned that the defense is been
playing at an elite level, been given that offensive line
some fits. Even though Arch Manning and Ryan Wingo have
had good scrimmages, is still something that that offensive line
is getting some work. Now, my question to you, Mark

and to the people out there don't be afraid to
hit us up on the text line, is this, Should you,
at this particular time be worried about the offense line
right now? No? Okay, and I say no, because Texas

defense is gonna give every team that they play fits.

Every defensive.

Assignment that these guys have is gonna wreck your offensive
game plan. And Ohio State, they have a season offensive
line and regardless of how good your offensive line is,
you gotta play sixty plays. They're not gonna win sixty plays.

They're not gonna win fifty plays forty. They may every
offense you may win twenty five plays out of those
sixty plays. So you better make the most of them
because this is one of those historical wrecking crew Georgia
Texas two years ago defense. Yeah, the rumor is that

this team has the ability. The defense is probably gonna
be better sure than last year's team, but even more
so like one of those that we talk about for
a while because of the talent that is there, the
camaraderie that is there. We talked about it with leannge
Lafowl and what he and Anthony Hill Junior have been
able to do. And then you also look at what

Colin Simmons is going to bring coming off of the edge,
and you know, some of the other stuff that you
start to think about is the running game too. You
start to see, you know, Coach Sark talked about a
big run last week by Trey Wisner, but then you
get into the scrimmage and there wasn't one of those

big explosive plays. You did have some plays in the
passing game where you got a chance to see arch
Mann and Ryan Wingo and some of the other guys
mostly didn't play in the scrimmage this past weekend.

We'll talk to coach Shark this afternoon and maybe we'll
get some information from there. But this football team, in particular,
one of the things that we have talked about is
them being able to run the football effectively. Even if
it's on the goal line, it it's a short yardage situation,
Texas has to be able to get some sort of
push up front, and to your point, we may not

have to worry about it as much because of the
fact that they're going up against Texas's defense every single
day of practice. Well, the number one thing is strategy,
which Coach Sark is the genius of. When you have
a great defense and you have a great running game,
the clock becomes your enemy, right And if Texas is

able to run the ball with us with a lead
with that defense, good night iren.

Yeah it's a problem.

And that's any team, any team that has a lead
defense that can run them. Now you're not playing just
the team across the lines. You're playing the clock. So
if Texas can play that game all season, it's I
told you. Coach Sark, he tempered everybody's expectations when he

so playfully said I don't think that no team is
gonna go undefeated ever again. But yeah, take the heat
off yourself, coach. But I'm just here to saying I
believe different. I think this is a team that if
they do what that is which they have the potential
to do, that they could go and defeat it. Now,

the folks over at inside Texas was talking a lot
about the passing game and some of the guys that
stood out. One of the guys that stood out that
got some love obviously was Parker Livingston, and he continues
to say that Parker Livingston is the guy he is
going to play and going to play a.

Lot at that wide receiver position.

They also mentioned the name Dalen mccutche and everybody said,
day day McCutchen is one of those guys that every
time he touches the football he has a chance to
get into the end zone because he's that elusive. You
talked about the tight ends and what was happening with them,
but defensively last week we didn't get a chance to

talk about this, but Grayson Lyttleton was a guy that
has been getting a lot of pub from the players,
the coaching staff and what he's been able to do
at that star position and a safety position as well.
You start to look at Malik Muhammat, somebody who understands

(07:45):
that this is a contract year for him. This is
the year where he starts to understand that this is
my moment. So I expect big things for them. But
the one thing that we talked about last week that
I don't think we talk enough about. We have to
figure out the special team situation. Special teams is going

to be an integral part of the success of this team.
You look at what Michael Dixon was able to do
for this Texas long horned football team, the ability to
punt and pin people back. With a defense like this,
you have to have a guy that can kick like that. Well,
the new punter Bomester, Jack Bomester. From what I've been

told and what I've heard is that not very many
people are gonna be able to return punts like that
because he kicks the ball so high. Chip Brown of
Horns two four seven said it was reported that he
had hangtime of five seconds.

You gonna tell me these guys that are running four
fowards four fives for threes, they're gonna be down there
coming clatimer raises so they can get they wave on.

Yeah, they're definitely going to be doing that. I've also
heard that my guy Derek Williams is back and playing
effectively and he's going to be a problem on.

I was just checking my phone because one of my
buddies text me and said, tell hard Uh, I'm friends
with the Living Stones and you said Livingston, and he
said living Stone.

tell yeah what I say, Parker Livingston.

Yeah, and like like sometimes text and say something bad
about me. Stop it, Parker living Stone. Excuse me, sorry
about that. But yes, he is one of those guys
that has been talked about a lot during training camp,
a lot during the off season, and we've seen glimpses

of that with some of the clips that have been
out there. So I'm excited to see what this for.
He's not a small cat either, No he's not. He's
not like they had one of those in a while.
He's a big wide receiver that they expect a lot
of things from, obviously, and people are starting to take
notice at what he was able to do, because you know,

when you red shirt like he did, he took full
advantage of the weight room, he took full advantage of
the things that he needed to get done for him
to be that big wide receiver that's gonna have a
chance to be an integral part of the success six.
So him being a red shirt freshman and getting that

opportunity is something that folks need to start making sure
that they have his name Parker living Stone back into
the mix. You think that's going to become a thing
now in Coach Sarks recruiting that he always goes out
at least one six four six' five type. Receiver he's

got to fit what he's looking him. For though he,
can he can be, big but if he can't run,
routes that's not gonna Be you're gonna be playing tight.
End you're gonna be playing tight. End but, lately these
last three, years the tight ends that have been In
Coach star system have been able to run the, scene
and not just run the, scene but been able to
run the full lambit Of to your point about Recruiting

Michael terry the, third he's six foot three to sixteen
and he's playing wide. Receiver, wow so, yeah there might
be some of that high pointing of the, BEAST i
mean of the football coming. Up we're gonna continue the,

ABOUT Uh texas football and the, scrimmage because the question
has been about there out there about this offensive. Line
we knew coming into the season that that was going
to be the question. Mark that was something that everybody
that we've talked to was trying to figure out because
of what was lost during that, time all the players

in the experience that is now in THE. Nfl we
got a chance to Watch Kelvin banks. Yesterday Cole hudson
is Not Cole, hudson excuse, Me Jake majors and all
those guys that have a, chance that had a chance
to go to the next. Level, well now you're trying
to find the camaraderie and the fluid movement between this.

Team so now everybody's questioning It, okay what's gonna? Happen,
WELL Dj campbell told us we're all. Nasty we're gonna
get after. It we're gonna be able to push the
pile and want to be able to be effective in
the ground game and protecting number.

One you gotta protect Arch, manning keep him up.

Right you don't want your offensive line to be nasty
against your true defensive, line Because i'm gonna tell you.
Stuff being an offensive line and former offensive lineman hards
when we coumbo block, guys we said stuff like. Punching
we would punch. People we were. Dirty it was, dirty

LIKE i would pull your right right below you're the
front of your shoulder. Pads you pull that, up just
pull it up and just hit them.

get down there on the offensive. Line you don't want
to do that to your. Teammate, NO i don't think
that was the plan for. That but you still have
to go out there and, play and you got to
be able to. Move but you're playing within the constructions
of the rules and practice with your. Teammates when they

get out there in the game against some of these,
teams that nasty is gonna come out.

And we're gonna combo block the way we're supposed to combo.

Block but that's not what you do against AND i
don't expect to ever see that in the. SCRIMMAGE i
would be mad IF i was a coach AND i
saw my guys doing nasty in the game and in
in a. Scrimman but, again you have to be able
to play the game the. Way your practice habits become your.
Habits so if you're not practicing the right way and

you're not doing the things that you need to, do
nobody said that's why you have the, orange that's why
you have the red jersey for the. Quarterback but talking
about but also there's times where they put the yellow
jersey on people like don't.

Hit, them don't touch.

Them but isn't that why coaches somewhat love the fights in,
camp because that's when that nastiness is coming out for the, playoffs.

That there's a limit to.

That like the coaches won't you to be, tough and
they want you to be, aggressive and they want you
to be, nasty but they don't want it to get
into a point where it becomes an issue against your.

Heard of coach, say, oh it's healthy for us to
not like each. Other i've never heard.

Never, WELL i don't think anybody's implying that at. ALL i, think,
well that's what will happen if you allow them to
go at each other full, speed like you're gonna talk
about it in your heart knock. Lie i'm excited for
that today because that was one that Was, man it's
gonna be one of your better. ONES i like that.

TOPIC i just really love the fact that you're going at.
It but in college football it's identically the. Same it
mirrors THE, nfl especially when you have line play like
you can't you can't have your guys go full speed
against a team that's not going full, speed and that's
what usually happens with offensive. Line the defensive line has

an advantage. Well texas defensive line is a little bit
different because of the size and the mass that they
have brought.

That, hey we're gonna get real big on the defensive,
line so we've got a chance to see some of those.
Guys but my whole point is you have to be
able to get. Pushed i'm not saying you got to
go out there and be. Dirty you got to be
able to go man to man and be able to
get some people to move. Around because if the running
game is not going to be effective and you all

you're gonna do is drop back to do.

That And i'm not saying that's what's.

Happening What i'm saying is when you look at these
reports and you're seeing that the defense is winning pretty
much every single, day something has got to. CHANGE i
don't care how good the defense. Is you got to
be able to move the. Ball texas did move the.
Ball there was touchdown passes From Arch.

Manning To Ryan.

Wingo you got to see some of the backups go
out there and move the football and passed the ball for.
Touchdowns but you did get to see some tips and
some interceptions and some other guys were out. There So
i'm not saying go out there and be dirty with your,
teammates but you have to win some of those one
oh ones for the backs to go out there and

be ready to make some. Moves speaking of the, BACKS
i HEARD. Cj baxter played. Well he looks good back
at the running back. Position so this team has done
some amazing. Things but since we were talking about the,
defense what is something that you want to continue to
see get? Better who is a name that you want

to hear from that has got an opportunity to be
an impact? Player BECAUSE i give you one that everybody's
been talking about is Ty Anthony. Smith he was a
guy from last year that made some big plays and
everybody started to understand that this guy was built a
little bit different as a.

Freshman it's the tight.

Ends to, me injuries is a guy that everybody's dependent.

Tight ends that are out, there like what about? Them

shannon was sixty Six, Ya shannon had a good scrimmage
over the weekend as. Well he caught a pass and
he looks like he is going to be a factor

you definitely want to be able to use more of
Your texas has an opportunity when you start to look
at this, team with the personnel that they have from
top to, bottom from wide receiver to tight, end they
have an opportunity to put up, huge huge, numbers huge.

Numbers Because Arch manning does love throwing the ball down the,
Field he's going to take more shots and. HAS i
still remember the game that Coach shark, said we went
down and did our pre, calls and we looked and
we were, like we had a lot of shot shots
down the field drawn up on those were the ones
that he liked the. Most and it was, like, yeah

because he feels confident in his arm to be able
to get that ball down there and let guys go
go get. It but that's not gonna be able to
be done every single game because teams are not gonna
let you do. That so you got to find some
things on the injury. Front Nick, brooks offensive tackle Where

scrimmage with what appeared to be a right leg, injury
but everybody says that he's.

don't see the reason for everybody to play because of
what is going on during those, practices, Right AND i get,
That but ALSO i do. Understand you got a new head,
Coach you've got a new, team new, scheme so to.

Speak and people can, say, Well schottenheimer's been there for a,
While well it's new. Personnel you got a brand new
wide receiver in. Pickings you're trying to find a rhythm
with this, team a team that did not play well last,
year let's not. Forget but yet you want to sit,

back have these guys standing on the side line not,
participating and then there is no. Rhythm if you, remember
we talked about the scrimmages that they had with The La.

Hey we competed, hard but you, know we gotta we
gotta clean some stuff. Up you, know we can't have
the penalties eleven penalties or whatever that. Was and at
the end of the, day it's, like you, know we
put ourselves in a chance in the you, know second
half to maybe make a, run and we just, couldn't you,
know gain the, momentum and we, scored we kind of
gave up a touchdown and we got to play better compromary.

Football Then Joe millen accidentally kill a man playing dodgeball.

BEFORE i don't know about, that but that's.

Horrible but he throws the ball so fast sometimes That
i'm just, like are you mad at the dude being
a receiver or? Something because he throws the ball, hard
like alway, hard but it's not Accurate alway, throwing and
it was hitting people in the. Chest Joe milton is
throwing it and he's hitting people in the. Stands so

there's a, difference and there's a. Difference but that's not
only the problem. Either think about. This you don't have no,
cohesiveness so now you have, penalties and that has been
a problem.

Too the penalty is out of control, too and that
was you.

Know, Again i'll speak to the whole discipline, part just
like the pre snap.

Penalty is that. Penalty we've got to be better with.

Discipline AND i, think you, KNOW i hope the guys,

they ran. Into but we have to be better than.
THAT cd knows, better we know. Better but it the
discipline on our. Part you, know we're fine with the combative,
penalties but you, know when we don't line up off.
Sides they warned us a couple of, times and you,
know we have to do a better, job you, know

coaching and playing and, hey move up. Tackles you, KNOW
i think awesome got called twice and you, know you
can't give away penalties in this, league and so we
have to be.

Better, Okay so this is something that has been a,
problem and it's been a problem for.

Years but we were blaming the.

Coaches when do we start looking at the the offensive.

Lineman when we were.

Little you brought up the fact that you was an
offensive line and when when we were growing, up didn't
you have to have your arm distance to make sure
you was up on the line and, police hey man
step up, Exactly and he said that the refts were already.
Waring and then you GOT cd on the sideline putting
his hand up in the air like they find throw
a touchdown and almost got killed By, yes he got.

Whiplash he got. Whiplash there's no way you can't tell
me the mog was. Snapback he didn't just. Snapbag i'm,
