Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you for tuning in to the podcast of the
Morning Kickoff with myself, Mike Carboll Harts, and the world's
Strongest man in WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Guys, we really would like it if you would advertise
with us, because we only go as far as you
let us.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
That's right, Folks, tune in and make sure you tell
five friends to tell five friends. The Morning Kickoff seven
to nine am Monday through Friday right here on sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to our
number two of the Morning Kickoff right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. In our number one,
we talked a lot about Texas softball advancing. We'll continue

(00:38):
those conversations. Texas baseball season comes to a disappointing end,
we talk Texas recruiting, and of course Texas wins another
national championship in a sport that a lot of folks
hadn't been paying attention to. But right now, I want
to get into the conversation about the Indiana Pacers taking down.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
The New York Knicks.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Eight to advance to the NBA Finals, and let's just
say Tyrese Haliburton gave them the finishing touches.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Who shot Haliburtons gone mad.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Five fold goals and he shot that one from the logo.
And now, as I predicted, I said, that game for
New York when they got the win.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
That was all good. That was good for TV.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
That Wasonium, Yeah, that was y'all get a chance to
enjoy your last home game. And the I mean the
Pacers went home and handled their business.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, they coming to the Bahamas with me. They are
on the way.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
You know, you look at what this Indiana Pacers team
and the balance in which they have been able to play.
You know, you go back to Game five and the
Knicks they were saying, oh they got they figured out
the remedy.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
They're gonna be able to do full court. They're gonna
be able to pick him up full court. No, they can't.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
He wasn't pushing the basketball, he wasn't playing his basketball game.
He could care less, actually, to be honest with you,
But for them to be able to get the victory,
Indiana has shown that they are a very consistent team.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
They have talent that can.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Score from all levels, and their defensive end and the
way that they are able to play has been very
very impressive in depth.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, the most important thing I think is the depth.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
And going against the Oklahoma City Thunder here Thursday, they're
gonna need the depth because Oklahoma City they throw waves
at you and they all play the same way. So
hopefully Indiana is the is one of the few teams
that have enough depth to combat Yeah, what Oklahoma City

(03:07):
throws at you.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Well, a lot of people always talk about super teams
and how you can go out and get yourself a
Big three or you try to find all these different pieces.
But one thing that we've talked about even in the
college game is you gotta be consistent with the thought
process of being able to lock in with a group,
a core group, and that's what Indiana was able to do.

(03:30):
In former Texas Longhorn Miles Turner, who will be representing
the Longhorns in the NBA Finals, he talked about the
end of super teams.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
It's a new blueprint for the league. Man. It's just
you know, I think the years of the super teams
and you know, stacking is just not it's not as
effective as it once was, you know what I mean.
As NBA since I've been in the league, you know,
the NBA is very trendy, you know, just shifts. But
the new trend now is just kind of what we're doing. Okay,
see does the same thing. You know, young guys get
out and run, defend, and you know use. The power

(04:02):
of friendship is how they call it.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
The power of friendship. Yeah, you look, you'd be an
eagle and I'll be a bucket of water. Right Like
they they they're playing such cohesive basketball and they're playing
for each other. It's almost like the college mentality. And
you know, we joke about it all the time, saying that, oh, well,

(04:26):
who makes the most money is gonna who's gonna play?
I think that philosophy might be out the window. People
are trying to unload these big, humongous contracts so they
can get more pieces.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Well, you know, I look at it and I appreciate
what Miles Turner is talking about because it is it's
all about core.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
It's all about the guys that you know that.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Will show up every single day, the youth, the friendship
we talk about, okayc and we'll get to.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Them later in the week when they get ready to
play each other.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
But we talk about the fact that when they do interviews, everybody.
He is there to do the interviews because they hang out,
they get to know each other, and you know, the
power of the locker room is one thing, but you
start to truly, truly understand that all of this means
so much more when you care about somebody, when you
want to be around somebody, when you understand who that

(05:19):
person is. Where do I trust you enough that when
I go to a certain spot, You're going to be
at the spot where you're supposed to be, so I
don't even have to think about it. You know where
I like the ball, you know where it needs to be.
Those are the types of things that you continue to see.
But you know, I was excited because Rick Carlisle is
somebody who has been with Indiana for a long time.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
He was a hell of a coach.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
They ran him out of Dallas basically, and then he
came to Indiana and he's been there and he's continued
to find ways to get it done and he represent
what Indiana is all about.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
In forty nine states, it's just basketball, but this is Indiana.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Want to.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
I want to congratulate. I want to congratulate the Nickson
a great season. Uh, Tom Thibodeau has done a great
job rebuilding that team.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
They caught a team.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
That has been on a magical ride, and our guys
earned this. Congratulations to our guys.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
That's what it's all about.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah, man, I love the fact that he paid respect
to the other coach. Yeah, you talk about leadership, and
you've been trying to get him fired anyway. You told
you said, he said he needs to be fired because
of his not wanting live, not wanting to do what
Indiana's doing. Uh, you know, I just don't like the
defensive philosophy one and two. I don't like the fact

(06:45):
that he's maybe it's the owner that's not it's not
willing to make the moves.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
But they didn't make the moves. Jaylen Bronson is.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Really the only thing that I feel like has been
a major plus for them.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
You don't like Karl Anthony Towns.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
I think that car Anthony Towns was a byproduct that
they just hated Julius Randalls so much. They was like,
look what you got, Well, we'll take two skittles and
a cand bar.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Man. They were, man, they just wanted anything a con bar,
snack to be named later. Yeah, they snacked to be
named later. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Well, I continue to look at this and the funny
part about all of this was we've talked a lot
about Tyre's Halliburton and and what he's brought to the table.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
But did y'all see that video?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Did y'all see that video of when they got ready
to name the m v P, Halliburton started to walk
up there like Drewski. Remember how Drewski thought he was
gonna get m v P and they came to somebody
else and they gave it to Siaka.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
And then just what did it mean to you to
to win the Conference finals MVP trophy? Right? That was cool?

Speaker 7 (07:57):
I mean, I think I know they had the trophy
for that, But I'm I'm excited. I mean, I'm I'm
I'm I'm you know, I'm happy. I'm blessed.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Man.

Speaker 7 (08:05):
It's been it's been a crazy journey, a lot of
ups and downs. And you know, I know, I know,
you know, I'm not I'm not the you know, the
guy that everyone's going to talk about a lot and
and all that stuff, and and I really don't care
about it, you know, I'm just I'm just a young
kid from Cameroon. That's you know, most of the US
when he was eighteen years old and and gave everything

(08:26):
to the game of basketball, like and and I just
work every single day. I don't cheat the work like
everything no matter good games, bad games. I'm I'm in
the gym. I care about the game of basketball and
I and I want to be as great as I can.
And and to me, that's all that matters, man, like
all the all this stuff that don't really matter. And
and yeah, like this it's cool, it's pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. What you mean
what he really wanted to say.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
I'm gonna translate for him and from Cameroon and and
uh Indiana fame to what he really wants to say,
and that is, yeah, Yeah, I'm.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Excited about this award because I.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Got traded from the Toronto Raptors because they didn't think
that I could play defense or I was ever going
to be an elite scorer.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Say it with your chest, Pascal, don't run from it.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Well, my man said he didn't even know that they
had an award because he wasn't expected to win it
when he was with When he was with the Raptors,
that was Kauwhai's award.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Everybody on earth know that there's an MVP award, and
nobody is like saying, oh, my whole entire goal is
to get the MVP. No, that's a byproduct of how
much work you put in and.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
What results you get.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
But like he said, he wasn't the one that was
being talked about. It was gonna be Tyree Haliburton. That's
why Tyreeese thought he was about to walk up to
you and get yeah, and he thought he was gonna
get the award.

Speaker 7 (10:01):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
You know what what makes it worse is he seems
like he doesn't even care he's the one that got
the award, and it's like ty Reice was like, oh,
I'm about to get oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
See what happened exactly.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
The thing about it is and this is this is
going into the next series. The two matchups that everybody's
talking about this Pacers versus Okay, see, nobody truly wanted
to see that.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
But the fact of the matter is these teams are
so much alike basketball team, but they are. But they
are so much alike.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
They like to get out and run, they like to
push the ball forward, they like to make plays and
that's the thing for me that I'm excited about because
I know a lot of people are looking at this
and saying, nah, this ain't gonna be a good series.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
I don't understand that. I believe this.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Is going to be one of the better series that
we've seen, right, And I'm excited for this.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yeah, Okay, excited about it. I can tell you one
person that is not excited about it, Paul George.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Well, because he was part of the trade. I mean
they built all of this teams were built.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Off of trades to him.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yes, the pieces that they used to get Hollenberger, yep,
was was what he was traded for.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
And he was the direct trade for the for the
thunder Right, I mean, this is this is.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Well no, but he's he's celebrating them contracts he got.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
He could buy his own ring.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
We'll continue the conversations about the NBA as the weeks
go as the week goes on, because we got the
conference finals in the NBA Finals starting this week, so
we'll continue those conversations. But coming up next we're gonna
talk a little bit more about the nf of L
and Cowboys. We're gonna also talk Texans and what the

(11:49):
expectations are moving forward right here on a Longhorn Monday
edition of The Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio and thirteen
hundred The Zone. Welcome back to the Morning kick Off
right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
We talk a lot of Cowboys and Texans here on
this station, rightfully so because we represent the state of Texas.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Mark and I are both Cowboy fans.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Some are more all in than others, but we also
try to make sure that we get everything covered. We're
going to get into that Stefan Diggs situation in what
something the New England Patriots should do, But I want
to talk cowboys because of the fact that we haven't
really got into the Joe Milton conversation.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Joe Milton is a.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Quarterback with a huge arm that had some time in
New England. He bounced around in college. But he is
a talented, talented quarterback and he might be the quarterback
as the backup that the Cowboys have first one that
they've had in a long.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
Time with this much upside.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
So when you start to look at Joe Milton and
what he's going to bring to this offense, what are
some of the things that you think about big arm,
ability to move around in the pocket, and the fact
that Dak over the last few seasons has been hurt.
Now limitations were what Cooper Rush had. Upside is what

(13:22):
now we have with Joe Milton and the ability to
be able to play at a high, high level. You
got a new coaching staff, You got a quarterback that
in Dak, that is not afraid to help teach this
offense because at the end of the day, you really
want to see how good your team can be and
get a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
But Mark, you were kind of excited about the Joe
Milton trade.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Or were you big excited about the Joe Milton I
was big excited.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, I was big excited because one, he got a
chans to come in and really be the number two.
They didn't have Keith Cooper Rush and have a quarterback
battle for the second they went out and said.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
We need a definitive number two.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
If Dak goes down, we need to we need a
number one point two point zero.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
And the things that Joe Milton is is what Jack
what Dak used to be a guy that could take
it down and run with it. But he has got
an arm that can get the ball. He's stronger than Dak,
He's bigger than Dak. He can get the ball out
there at a h for cde Lamb and uh George

(14:40):
Pickens in a way that Dak can.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Yeah, he is uh. So he's a weapon in itself.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
He's an interesting study, to say the least, just because
of the fact that you're not sure exactly what he's
going to be when it comes down to it, because
of the unknown. Look, man, I don't really care that
you could throw a ball the length of the football
field if it's incomplete. I don't care that you have

(15:07):
a howardzer of an arm, a cannon, whatever you want
to call it, and you can't complete the passes. What
I want to see is somebody that could come in
and run the offense, control the offense, and be able
to lead this team in such a way that it
continues to be the same offense as if Dak was

(15:28):
there a well known leader in that locker room. So
we'll be interested to see exactly how it plays out.
But having a solid number two, and I know a
lot of people really enjoyed Cooper Rush during that time,
but let me just tell you This is one of
those things that I continue to really start to pay
attention to when it comes to that back up quarterback

(15:51):
because he's getting a lot of reps because Dak is
still nursing that hamstring injury. He just had his wife
just had their second child. He's been dealing with that
as well. So we'll see what happens as they start
to move forward. Now I want to get into this
conversation about the New England Patriots. The New England Patriots

(16:12):
have decided to go out. They sign one of the
Would you could consider him a top player in the league.
I don't know, but he's definitely something that they need
to help Drake May and that is Stefan Diggs. Stefan
Diggs is coming off a knee injury. He has done
a lot for them. He is considered an upgrade at

(16:34):
the wide receiver position. But my question is, now there's
a video, there's a conversation of him being on the boat.
He was on vacation. He's now dating R and B,
so there's going to be I guess you could say
the rap game scenario that is being involved there. There

(16:57):
was a pink substance that he had in his hands
on the boat that has caused a lot of controversy
in the conversation of possibly being a narcotic And now
the New England Patriots are subject to all of this conversation.

(17:19):
And you know the Patriot way is not that. The
Patriot way tries to stay out of the way. They
try to be buttoned up. And now he's brought some
unwanted attention, yeah, scrutiny to this situation. What is your
takeaway from what you've seen from this Stefan Diggs controversy?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
As you will say, I look.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
At all of it as being complete and utter ignorance,
Just complete and utter ignorance.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Hard I went through the mothership.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
And when I went through the mothership, they said, excuse me, sir,
can I put your phone in his bag right here?
And you put your phone in the bag. It zips
and a little plastic thing clicks off shows that it
won't the bag won't be tampered with, and then they
throw it in a bind. There's a number bag that's
thrown in a band. You go in the show, no device,

(18:20):
Whatever happens in there stays in there.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
What's wrong with these people there?

Speaker 2 (18:27):
If you are I'm not saying that it's tolerated or
it's okay, it's condoned. I am saying, why would you
give someone the opportunity to report what you do on
vacation five miles out in the sea. You're obviously going

(18:48):
out there the fish, to party, to do whatever they
did out there on that boat. The last thing you
want is for the rest of the world to see
what you're doing. Right, Yeah, why would they allow that?
I mean, I'm I'm I'm puzzled. I I'm legitimately asking

(19:10):
you why why would you Why would you allow somebody
to video that he didn't see it was he was
he so impaired himself that he didn't see himself being recorded.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
He saw the video, he looked into the camera. He
knew that he was being recorded at some point. But
the problem that I have with no, No, it was
not skittles. It was not skittles. But here's the here's
the biggest.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Thing for me.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
If you are part of the crew, to your point,
why are you filming me?

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Like what? Never filmed somebody doing something? It listed? Uh,
that would be.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
That's because you got common sense. The thing about it,
it's not people now, that's all they want to do.
They well, they want to capture something that will help
them quote unquote go viral.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
But more importantly, you're like, oh, man, look at you.
Look what you was doing over here.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
No, man, there's no reason for that to be captured
at all. To your point, he should have told everybody
on the boat no cameras. And if and if you
are part of the crew, you should know I'm high profile,
Cardi B. High profile. We don't need any of this nonsense.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
And go back.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
If you're going type in Cardi B, be careful. Don't
do it at work, Do not do that well, and
don't do it on your home.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Don't clear your browser history.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Hey, look when he shoots me, I need you to
clear my browser history.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Because here's the deal.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
You look at all of that, and you have now
created something that you do not need. You basically are
still a free agent because you're not active, you're not
even practicing. You're working out, but you're not even at OTA's.
You're not around the team that has just given you

(21:13):
an opportunity. And if you go back and you look
at his history, we always talk about you want to
be able to have a clean slate when you go
places right, But everywhere you go, they go back and
they look at your history. He left Buffalo, Buffalo got better,

(21:33):
he went to Houston, he ends up getting hurt.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
He's not around. They keep it moving.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
He's had messy divorces throughout this and you are trying
to get back on the field.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yet you put yourself in a situation.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Where you are the one who pulled out the baggie
of whatever it may be.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
You had it in your hand.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
It might have been cotton candy that was in his
pocket too long, got krish.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
And that might be the way that they call it nowadays,
it might be called cotton candy.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
But where I'm from, that looked no good.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
That looked no good.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
I'm gonna tell you right now. They brought him in
as a veteran role exactly, and they expect something out
of veterans at the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Especially when you're dealing with Mike Rabel.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
Now, Mike Rabel, Mike Rabel is a player, He's a
players player, But sometimes you got to answer to a
lot of people above you. So we'll see what ends
up happening. But coming up next, we've got the world's
strongest man bringing you his world's strongest take right here
on the morning kickoff on a Longhorns Monday edition on

(22:48):
sports Radio A thirteen.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Hundred the Zone. You heard that beat drop, and you
know that can only mean one thing.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
WWE Hall of Famer and the World's Strongest Man brings
you his world's strongest take.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
Take it away, big fella, Harsh, what's up?

Speaker 2 (23:07):
You know what saying it's time for the world's strongest
take by the world's strongest man.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
My gosh, back then they didn't know me. Now I'm hot.
They all on me. Guys.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
We got something in the NBA that nobody expected, and
several big time NBA enthusiasts as well as announcers have
said that a lot of people are not looking forward
to the matchup of the Oklahoma City Thunder and the

(23:49):
Indiana Pacers. There's no sizzle, there's no flash. That hold
up one minute, let me put some knowledge in it.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Hard. I feel like this is just what basketball needed.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Everybody talks about the flash and the sizzle, but they
don't talk about the content of the game. I know
so many people that hate watching the NBA because you
don't see fundamental basketball. You don't see guys that can
actually dribble and then take off. You don't see guys

(24:28):
that play as a team. You know why the Knicks.
I'm gonna throw the Knicks out there. I'm gonna tell
you why the Knicks lost because Karl Anthony Towns, rather
than fight over the top, he would.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Go underneath the screen. And every time muscle memory is,
if you see the man go down, you shoot over
the top.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
And that's where the Indiana Pacers beat them every time
they did it. And they decided to play defense sometimes
the big guys, you know what, I gotta give Mitch
Robinson his respect.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
He stepped up and played defense these last three games.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
But because of the system that they run, they don't
get any points out of that. They just get a
defensive effort. But they also gave up four layups.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
After the Knicks scored. The Indiana Pacers were young, fast,
Hey guys, just run for the basket and score. But
I'm gonna get back to the point at Matt. My take.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
My take is that I don't think that these people
that are in these big offenes stephen A. Smith, Yeah,
I said your name, that you think that because your
Knicks lost, that this is gonna be a failed series
that nobody cares horse hockey. I think that this is

(25:53):
gonna be just what basketball needs.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Sga is the MVP of the league.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
You get that, and you get the brotherhood, the Friendship Tour,
if you will, and then you get the Indiana Pacers
who have every piece. They lost Walker I think for
maybe the first part of this series. Hopefully he's not
injured for the entirety of this series because that was
one of their depth pieces, but hearts. I think my

(26:21):
take is that this is gonna be one of those
seven game series that we haven't seen really in this
entire playoffs, where we go, I don't know who's gonna win.
Maybe it's whoever's on the home court last. What's say you, Well,
that would be ideal, That would be exciting. That will

(26:43):
be something that I would look forward to.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
And as we talked about at the beginning, you start
to look at these teams and you say, Okay, this
is matchup for matchup. What is the difference. Well, I
think the difference is home. Grin will have to play
a bigger role. Jalen Williams has done a great job
for OKAC. But then you look at the MVP in Siakam,

(27:08):
what he was able to achieve in that matchup and
what he's been able to do in the postseason. You
also look at what has happened with Tyrese Halliburton, but
you also have Nasbit.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
You have different pieces.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
For Indiana that will have to match up play for play,
and that to me is the biggest thing throughout the
entire season. You have the real MVP, the MVP of
the regular season in Shay Gil Chris Alexander thirty two
and a half points. I mean, the dude was out
there balling. But Tyreese Halliburton plays defense. The Indiana Pacers

(27:48):
play defense just as well as you would look at
with OKAC. Now they're not the same by no means,
but when you watch these matchups, I think it's going
to be a very very entertaining UH series. As expecting.
If you think okay See is just gonna run away

(28:09):
with this, I have no idea why they would be
able to do that. I don't see that happening, but
I do What I do see is them being able
to lock in and be able to move around, and
this is going to be a very very fun series.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
I think that the number one match up with see
with s G A and and to see what Tyrese
Halliburton are going to do at the guard position is going.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
To be an interesting matchup for one. Secondly, Humgrin.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
And And and Big Cat they both pretty much play
the same position. They play a center that gets out
on the perimeter and wants to shoot the ball.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
So they've seen it.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Both teams have seen what it's like to see a
big man that can stand down and shoot, so that
won't be certain strange to him. A lot of times
you see our Longhormed Brethren leak out and he hits
the three. It's exactly the same thing that you see
from these two franchises.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
I don't know who's gonna do it better, but I
do know this.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Make your mind up when you get the ball, or
you're gonna shoot it right away, or if you put
it on the floor, you're gonna take a chance on
Caruso or dor It coming up with that ball and
going the other directions.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
I think he's the X factor.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
I think Caruso is the X factor in all of
these series because of the way he's been able to
establish his ability to guard with everybody, and he'll knock down,
A three other great tech buy the World's Strongest Man
coming up. We're gonna close out the show and send
you to Dan Patrick. The inside. The NBA said it's goodbye,

(30:11):
and of course Texas Softball takes the field one last
time right here on the Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio
and thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to another great
episode of The Morning Kickoff. Longhorns Monday edition of The
Morning Kickoff. We talked a lot about Texas Baseball and
it's season coming to an inn and kudos to UTSA.

(30:36):
You gotta tip your cap to them. We talked a
lot about Scotti Scheffler and what he was able to do,
and of course we talked in b A. But right now,
since we're talking NBA, I want to make sure we
have this conversation inside. The NBA is walking away. Well,
they're not walking away. They shut it down.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
They're a helicopter limo in a way.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah, they are shutting it down. TNT will no longer
be covering the NBA, which is disappointing because I always
enjoyed watching those guys. But now they get a new
home and they will be going over to the Four
Letter Network.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
They Empire, the Mothership as they like to call it.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
And Ernie Johnson, who is one of the most class
act dudes. He is the one that has to ring
in shack Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley. He's the one
that kind of keeps them in line a little bit.
But he so eloquently said goodbye to inside the NBA,

(31:44):
take your time.

Speaker 8 (31:45):
Several years ago, I wrote a book called Unscripted, and
I asked people to embrace the unscripted, not fear of
the unscripted. If I had written the script, the NBA
and would be together forever.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
It's not going to happen.

Speaker 8 (32:05):
But while I was disappointed and I was sad, I
was not bitter. We know how business works. Gratitude is
the operative word for me. Grateful that you know, since
nineteen eighty nine, I've been with this company. No matter

(32:29):
what you call the company, I'll always be Turner and
I'm grateful that I've worked with you guys. I'm grateful
for all of the relationships we've built professionally and personally
through the years. You just don't realize that until you
see people here on the road and say, hey, this

(32:50):
is probably going to be it and you think back
to all the good times you had. So I'm grateful
for that and also grateful that we have members of
our crew who are going to go work at NBC
or work at Amazon. And you know how they got
those jobs because their RESUMESA is NBA on TNT.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
So thank you.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
We have been honored to do this, and we look
we look forward.

Speaker 8 (33:23):
Look the four of us, as you've already heard, the
four of us are going to be together. Our production
crew is going to be together. It's going to be
that same bunch. We're still going to be shooting that
show in Atlanta. It's just going to air somewhere else.
And so the craziness that you've seen, the nonsense and
the foolishness and the top notch basketball analysis, all of

(33:44):
that stuff's going to be on. It's going to be
on ESPN or ABC next year, not on TNT.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
For that, it's.

Speaker 8 (33:53):
We're sad, but I'm proud to say, for the last time,
thanks for watching us.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
It's the n B on TMT.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
The stuff by Ernie Man. Ernie is just a class act.
And you know as well as I do. Once you
get in with a certain group and you become why
you're shaking your head. Man.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Man, I'm shaking my head because it's just drama.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
It's just that's what tn T is. Tn T is drama.
That's what it says. That's their moniker.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Will you ask me and then now you're gonna answer
for me, that's what it is. But you're answering for me.
Let me speak for myself, sir, Go ahead, go ask
me the question. I'm gonna give you the an answer.
Then the answer is that they're over dramatizing this. Those
guys are getting the same money that they that they
got at TNT.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Why do you make it a on top I'm none finished.
On top of that, they have they have agreed to
take their entire crew, the camera, the lighting, the technicians.
They wanted their whole family to come along with them.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
There are three or four people. I'm I'm hearing the
side of this the other day.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
They two or three of those.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
People are going one is going to Amazon, and one
of two of them are gonna stay at Turner.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
They're only losing three people.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Out of the dozens and dozens of people that work
for them. I look at it like this, Yes, the
company is gonna change and there's some old ladies in
the lobby that you're not gonna get to see. The
guy that operates the elevator, the old man in the bathroom,
the guy that parks the cars. You're not gonna see

(35:32):
them no more. But outside of that, your whole family
is going with you to ESPN, and you're you're gonna
be in the same studio.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
That's just where's the loss.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
The memories of them playing a t N TNT trailer
before the show starts. Man, get a new trailer, play
some new music and keep it moving. We're not losing anything.
Everybody's coming back. I rest my case.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
There ain't no case to rest. You made it about
money in the very beginning. They're keeping the same money. No,
it's more about family. It's more about I don't care
that you're saying that, Oh man, it's gonna be the
same thing. It's not the same thing. There is change.
There is leadership change. And you know as well as

(36:33):
I do. You should be the one that is telling
us about leadership change because you see leadership.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Change in your profession.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
That is happening right now, and it's changed the whole
dynamics of the company.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
The people that are calling that show right now? Are
gonna be calling that show when they get to Bristol.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
You say that now, You say that now, and you
look at everything that has happened at Bristol, and you
could talk to all the people because I know a
lot of people at Bristol too.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
It has changed.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
That's why people are leaving Bristol and they're going elsewhere
because they have been handcuffed at what they do.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
So, yes, it is. It may be it'll be shown
in Bristol, it'll be the State family. The same family
is going to be shooting at in Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Well, I like your hope that.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
You are correct, because it is definitely going to be
different because it.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Is a new If you were Hernie or you were
replacing Barkley or Shack with some other person or whatever,
then I'd be like, ah, man, they're not keeping the
team together.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
But Kenny and all they'll all be together.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
The core four.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Mark is going to be there. I'll let you have that.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
But you both you and I both know when change
happens at the top, things happen differently because their vision
may not be your vision and the way that they've
done things and you've seen other shows go other places
that is not the same and guys end up leaving

(38:12):
because they didn't feel comfortable with the way that the
direction was.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Well, we'll see. That's always. That's all we can do.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
As always, we want to make sure that you continue
to follow the show, like subscribe to all of our
YouTube stuff. Also make sure you follow us on all
of our social media's at AM thirteen hundred The Zone,
at d Mark Henry and of course at Hardball Hards
make sure you're tuning in at ten forty five today
as Texas Softball, who have advanced to the finals in

(38:44):
their bracket, we'll take on the Tennessee volunteers.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Here we go, Texas versus Tennessee. Who is the real?
Ut is how that goes.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
We'll kick it off at ten forty five with Andrew
Haynes right here on sports Radio and our team one
hundred the Zone. I'll definitely be checking that game out
for sure. Texas Softball has been a light, a beacon
of light after a dismal baseball finish, and we'll continue

(39:17):
to follow that all week long. There's so much to
get into with that baseball team. We'll have Joe Cook
on tomorrow we'll get his thoughts on that, and of
course all the recruiting stuff that we talked about today.
We will continue those conversations as Texas football continues to
host some of the top players in the sport. Speaking

(39:39):
of that, this past weekend we played in a basketball
tournament against a team that is.

Speaker 3 (39:46):
I would say NBA ready because they were that big.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
There's a player that was on that team, Ahmad Hudson,
he is a tight end in football, is also being
recruited by the University of Texas. I got a chance
to talk to that young man and his family. That
is a name to pay attention to because he is
out of Louisiana and Texas has done some good work

(40:14):
in Louisiana and they will continue to do so as well.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
So I want.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
To make sure that you tune in tomorrow as we
get into all that conversation. For Mark Henry, for Marcus
behind the boards, I'm harball hard and just remember this,
don't believe everything you see, because even salt looks like sugar.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
Peace,
