So we are sixteen days away from Texas taking on.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
The Ohio State buck Guys.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
The Ohio State Buck Guys are a team that a
lot of folks are looking at and trying to figure
out who they are going to be. Obviously, you're the
national champion, defending national champion, and you open the season
up against the number one ranked team in the country
in the preseason poll by AP voters.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
But also you.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Have got an opportunity to kind of gauge where you are.
We were talking about this a little bit yesterday, Mark
and talking about the fact that Texas is one of
those teams that early in the season you look at
their roster and you say, Okay, look at these names,
look at these players. There's some opportunity there. But the

(02:59):
other day coach was talking about their schedule. Last year,
the schedule was so favorable. We had a bunch of
great home games. Well, this year is completely flipped flipped
and now Texas is at one point going to be
on the road basically for a month.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
And you think about that.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
That is rare in today's sports, but it is putting
Texas in this opportunity of success. You get a chance
to bond, you get a chance to know exactly where
you are. And Coach Sark was asked about the fact
that Texas is gonna be basically some road warriors.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, very unique. I noticed that when it came out.
I might have came out last season. As a matter
of fact, I was like, Wow, this is a little
bit different.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
It just is what it is.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
You know, it's uniquely challenging. I mean, we have some
very tough road greams. Obviously, the first game you go
to the Shoe, that's gonna be it gets a great opponent,
defending national champs.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Tough game you go.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
You open in Gainesville at the Swamp, one of the
more difficult places of play in the country. And our
SEC opener, you play at Kentucky at night, which ask
any other head coach in our conference what that's like.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
That's difficult.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
We're gonna go to Mississippi State and we're gonna hear
the cow bells ringing in our ears all night long.
And then you know, we're at Georgia, who hasn't lost
a home game and I don't know maybe since the
last century. I don't know one last time that lost
at home. So we have a very difficult road schedule.
And then that the ending of our home schedule is
difficult with Vanderbilt, which we all know is had bit

(04:38):
enough people in the butt last year where they're very
good football team. And then we get back to back
rivals with Arkansas on A and M, and so, like
I said, I think the key for us is one
week at a time. And I hate using coaching adages
with you guys, Like I hate that because I hate
it when I listen to a press conference and guys
use it. But for us this year, that's kind of

(04:59):
the secret sauce. It's like, what's right in front of us.
Let's be present in the moment and prepare for that
opponent and not get caught up looking down the road. Man,
when's our next home game? We can't worry about it. Man,
it's over a month, right, It's almost a month and
a half between home games. So let's just you know,
as you all know, man, we go on the road,
you got to pack your you gotta pack your defense

(05:20):
and pack your run game. And then whatever happens after that,
hopefully we got a shot.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Bring your own guts, Like, that's gonna be a very
serious thing to get those young guys mine in the
place where we can't change the situation. Let's go and
dominate the situation. And how good is it going to

(05:45):
be to come home? You know how it feels when
you've you've been on the road and you get to sleep.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
In your own bed. Yeah, Like, and then you get
to play a game in your home.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Stadium and you've been boobed and boom and you finally
get your that team, I feel sorry for them. Well,
the thing about it too, you know he's talking about
the game at Florida, right, So you go to Ohio
State and we'll hear from Aaron Taylor was talking about
Ohio State and who they are. But you go from

(06:18):
that game to play three home games against lesser opponents.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Let's be honest about it.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I mean, you still got to come out and show
out because of eleven am game, a three to fifteen game,
and a seven pm night game against Sam Houston. But
you go to Florida and then you go to the
Cotton Bowl and you take on Oklahoma, a team that
is going to be better, got a better quarterback, better situation,
They're gonna be better. Then you go on the road.

(06:46):
So you're gonna be on the road from October fourth
till November the first, which is a very unique situation
for the Texas Longhorns. Well, I mentioned Aaron Taylor just
a little bit ago, and the guys from CBS with
our guy Brian Jones, who will be on with us
next Thursday, we were talking and listening to them about

(07:10):
this Ohio State football team. They are making adjustments, but
the talent level is still there. I mentioned you to
you the other day. Three unbelievable players, Jeremiah Smith, I
mean yeah, jeremih Smith, Caleb downs In, their linebacker is
as considered one of the playmakers. So they too have

(07:30):
rebuilt and are trying to defend their national title.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
And here's what Aaron Taylor had to say.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Yeah, but they're moving from the hunter to the hunted.
That's a whole new set of problems.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
That's not new for Ohio States.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
It's not new, but when you have the target on
your back and you've got complacency in human nature that
can set in, it does become a little bit different
of a set of challenges than what they had a
year ago.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
They've got two.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Brand new coordinators that they need to break in. They've
got a brand new quarterback. They're gonna need to break in.
Offensive line, which really became a strength after the injuries
last year, was decimated. So a lot of new faces
there and that NFL talent on the defensive side of
the ball. It's a much different set of circumstances.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
This year.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Honestly, they remind me of what Michigan had to go
through last year figuring out all those pieces early in
the season. But you got to give them the benefit
of the doubt. They've earned that. But it's not going
to be an easy road for them, and I think
it's going to be challenging early.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
And it's going to be challenging early because of the
fact that they got the number one ranked team coming
into town with a Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback who, by
the way, is number sixteen, a safety that is recognized
as a preseason All.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
American, which is number sixteen.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Because we are sixteen days away and we'll have another
safety that comes on who in the legends of the
locker room segment, the number of kids number sixteen as well.
So the number today is sixteen. Folks, you're gonna be
hearing a lotickets exact put it in now. James Street,

(09:05):
great quarterback for the University of Texas, number sixteen.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
So there's a lot to look forward to.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
But to the point of what he was saying about
the hunted and the hunter, you start to think about
this man, you mentioned it just a second ago. You've
been on the road, you're gonna get booed. Well, Texas
is already used to that. I mean you you are
the hunted. The bulls eye is on your back, even
more s re gain than ever before. So to me,

(09:34):
it's not a big deal. This is what you come
to the University of Texas for. You knew coming here
that that was what it was gonna be like. So
you're locked in and ready to go. And I know
that Coach Sark is not worried about it. And you
mentioned the fact about being on the road and having
the time and being able to sleep in your bed.
The beautiful thing about football. You only have to be

(09:56):
gone for two days. True, that's the beautiful thing about football.
So you get in, get out, tear tear up thing furniture,
and come on back home.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
That's what That's what this is.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
So I can't get enough of this, man, I'm so
ready for football to I also think hards that this
is a team of brothers. And they you can tell they.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
What he means brotherhood guys. Brothers. Yeah, you're too much. Uh,
these guys really love each other.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
You can tell. It's not it's not Verbroada. It's not
like some manufactured thing.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
They really want to see each other do well.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
And there's no way that these guys are not going
to put arch on their back. But they're gonna they're
gonna be like, look, man, we got you. We want
you to have those numbers, We want you to have
the heist, man, we want you to win a national
championship because when you win, we win. Like if they
can hold them up, this could be a great ride. Yeah,

(11:01):
this is This season is gonna be one for the
ages because of so many things that are happening in
college athletics.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
This is going to be a memorable year.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
And nobody just say that we that Texas did not
go above and beyond with an easy schedule.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
They on the road. They are on it now.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Mother, did y'all hear him speaking French? My man said
we well, we are the home of Texas Athletics, Texas football.
You can hear all games right here on Sports Radio
AM thirteen hundred, the Zone and always free on the
iHeartRadio app. Coming up in the next segment, we're gonna
continue these conversations and so much more. NFL has holdouts

(11:50):
and I want to see where Mark is what these
thoughts right here on the morning kickoff on sports Radio
AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to the mortar
kick off right here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
The Zone. We have our guy Eric Henry of Horn's
two four seven joining us in the next segment, and
don't forget make your time known right here on sports

(12:15):
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Legends of the Locker Room.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Segment, we will be joined by our guy Lance Gunn,
who war number.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Sixteen to play free safety.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Here at the University of Texas, so we'll get his
thoughts on last season and of course getting ready for
this season. Speaking of the season, there's a lot of
folks that are still trying to figure out what's going
on in Dallas. When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys
and Michael Parsons, Jerry Jones is still the one that

(12:46):
people want to punch in the throat for so many
different reasons. I'll let you hear from Jerry in just
a moment on the Michael Parsons situation. But when you
start to think about these teams and the expectation of
their squad, these key players are the reason why they're
expecting so much from those squads. When you look at

(13:09):
some of these guys that are holding out, and I
can start with the guy in in Cincinnati. He's an
important part of the success of their football team, Trey Hendrickson.
They need Trey Hendrickson to be available at all levels

(13:30):
because you got to be able to get to the
quarterback and he is an integral part of what they
have done with their squad. So you're sitting here now,
Trey Hendrickson, the edge rusher for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
He's holding in and out.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
He's requesting the trade, but more importantly, he's trying to
get more money because, like we've talked about, a lot
of these guys are at the end of their big
contract days. So why not try to get your money,
especially when you have outperformed the contract that you have signed,

(14:08):
because you have now been the most one of the
most successful rushers.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
In the NFL over the last three and a half years.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Miles Garrett got paid, Max Crosby got all the guys
that you were up against.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
You have now surpassed.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Those guys, all of which, like you said, outperformed their contracts.
And Marcus made a good point on Tuesday saying that
that was an NFL contract is really a framework of
your value and when you exceeded, which I didn't particularly
believe that for Haywood because Heywood signed a deal last

(14:49):
year and he didn't put it in the contract to
get advancements. But this case, Hendrickson deserves he's second number two,
Michael Parsons deserves it. And yes they have contracts, but

(15:12):
like you said, the contracts of frameworks pay the dues.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
I always go back to Patrick Ewing.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Patrick Ewing had the most unbelievable contract of all time
in any sport.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
I get the top five for the entirety of my.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Ten year deal, regardless of whether I'm number one or
number twenty one, I get the top five about percentage.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
That's pretty good, right, So when you.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Exceed your contract, you should automatically be in a category
to be a top five percentage.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Then there's no problem.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
But the problem would lie and can you afford it
everybody else?

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Yeah? I mean, but let's be honest, let's let's be on.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
The salary cap is a suggestion you can pay whatever
you want.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Exactly and if you got it.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
We talked about it yesterday and we'll get into it
in just a moment.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Cincinnati is the worst place.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
They stay broke, They selling TVs.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Check the check.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
They selling TV to get more money to get back
up there, but buy more TVs. I'm like, this is ridiculous,
But the fact remains that you need to have a
guy like that because if y'all are trying to win now,
you have to have every piece of the puzzle with you.
Cam Heyward, Mike Tomlin. I'll get into him in the

(16:50):
next sect and in the eight o'clock hour. On top
of the eight o'clock about people on.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
The hot seat.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
You can't afford to have pieces missing when your job
is on the line there. And that's the same with
both of these guys, Zach Taylor, Trey Hendrickson. You need him,
Mike Tomlin, you need Cam Hayward. He's your veteran. He's
your leader. He's your guy that you need to have

(17:16):
along with TJ. Watt, which is why you went and
signed teach. Everybody follows them exactly like they follow the leader.
He's the guy that's like, listen, man, I know you
don't you might not like me, but I need you
to respect me, to hear me right now, because this
is about us I'm not thinking about me.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Those guys signed them.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
And we're gonna continue it because you got to now
look at Terry McLaurin wide receiver from the Washington Commanders.
You have a quarterback that is on the upside, one
of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. You was trying
to move him up in a different spot the other
day on the quarterback tier. But you start to look

(17:56):
at the Commanders, what do what does every team try
to do when you got a stud quarterback win before?
You got to pay him right, So why is it
that you're not gonna bring his best wide receiver, his
go to guy and give yourself a chance to win now?

(18:18):
Because now is the time because they had the pieces.
They went out and got von Miller, they went out
and got kin Law, they went out and went got
their defense better. Yeah, because you're scary, which is why
you look at this team and you could say, besides
the Philadelphia Eagles, they're the best team in the NFC,

(18:39):
And it could be in the conversation not to mention
harde Uh, Terry is the most consistent of those guys,
and he's.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Not that old.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
No, like he's not an old receiver. You you know,
Odell Beckham is an old receiver. He has one year
remaining on his contract that he signed in two Why
is it that you see how talented he is and
how important he is turned down?

Speaker 2 (19:08):
He's the guy, He's your most important player besides your quarterback,
because you.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Got to have his best friend out there wide receiver,
somebody he trusts. It's those types of things that I
continue to look at and I question how you are
are trying to be that team that wants to win.
Now you've got the player, but you're not trying to

(19:33):
enhance his team.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Why not do the Eagles playbook. I do not like
the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
I will not if I have the first overall pick,
I will not draft, say Kwan Barkley, I won't do
it because I just don't like him. But they do
it right. They do it right. And tell me what
about the Eagles says, I don't know. They just don't
put a good team, a good product on the field.

(20:02):
They're gonna always put a good product on the field.
And that's why it is frustrating twenty won a Super Bowl.
Frustrating it because of the fact that they have not
done the things that they needed to do in these
particular moments the Cowboys, which is where I'm at right
now with the Michael Parsons situation. Michael Parsons is still

(20:23):
holding in, still demanding a trade. He is under contract,
So yep, go ahead, talk about that. But Jerry Jones
was asked, where are you right now with the Michael
Parsons situation and understanding about are y'all having these types
of conversations?

Speaker 5 (20:45):
Really nothing.

Speaker 6 (20:50):
Again, nothing will be that and we.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Might or might not talk. And what we do? You
know what?

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Hey, hey, Jerry, is there any movement with you and
Micah are y'all talking? No, no talking, There's nothing, there's
no movement. We may or may not talk. What he does?
He think it's gonna go away. If I don't look.
If I don't look it, don't the monster don't see me.

(21:27):
The monster don't see me. I'm not looking at it.
I'm not looking. I'm gonna close my eyes. My eyes
are closed. I can't see. That's what he's doing. Remember
our our sound that we played yesterday. I need to
create controversy when there's no need for the controversy. Well,
he got me. Well here's the deal. I think what

(21:48):
we all need to do is just stop. They shouldn't
ask him when you know how he always wants to
do a press conference afterwards. Nobody show up, Nobody go
talk to Jerry. Just everybody focus on the players and
leave Jerry. You coordinated in our follow Coming up next,
we're gonna go back and talk Texas Long Horns as

(22:09):
we get closer and closer to the game against Ohio
State sixteen days away, and we'll be joined by our guy,
Eric Henry of Horns two four seven. Coming up next
right here on the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to the morning kickoff
right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

(22:30):
Mike Harball, Harri's World's Strongest Man, the Mark Henry, and
of course our guy Marcus is on the boards. I
want y'all to make sure that y'all tune in at
eight seventeen because of the fact that we're gonna have
lifetime Longhorn and legend Lance Gunn join us to be

(22:52):
able to get on to the show as we break
down all things we're efforting. Eric Henry of Horns two
four seven. We'll find out where he is in just
a moment, but we'll get into the Texas Longhorn conversation.
We were talking about Texas and the expectation of the
season road games, who they're playing, where they're playing these games.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
But news came out yesterday.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
That one of the biggest games that Texas is supposed
to have was going to be in the swamp with Florida.
The news is coming out of Gainesville that DJ Lagway
is still dealing with a calf injury and they're not
sure how severe it is. Obviously, that game is a
ways away, so he'll have plenty of time to rehab

(23:41):
and get ready to go. But one person put out there,
and I don't like the fact that they put this
out there because it seems to me as bad juju.
But they were talking about the fact of the Kevin
Durant Halliburton and forgot the other person that was dealing
with a calf injury. But they were talking about the
calf injury leading to a bigger injury with the achilles,

(24:03):
and yeah, j that's what was Jason and also Dame Lillard.
They all had cap strains that led to torn achilles. Yes,
so you start to wonder how exactly that is going
to play out for him. Uh, the severity of it
all and where we're supposed to be in those situations.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
So that's something to pay attention to.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
The news also came out that Ohio State is now
leaning closer and closer to naming Julian Saying the starting
quarterback for Ohio State as they get ready to take
on the Texas Longhorns. Ryan Day made the comment that
he believes that saying is Joe Burrow esque in the

(24:49):
way that he moves in the pocket and how he
can lead his football team. So I'm just saying that
they believe that that might be.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
They may be their guys, So we will see what exactly.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
I see what you're saying, Mark, I got the first
twelve times you did that, I was just ignoring it
as best as I possibly could in that situation. But
you start to understand where all of this is headed.
I start to look at one of these things too,
because over at Horse two four seven, they decided to

(25:26):
and we were gonna We're gonna see where Eric is
in just a moment, but they were deciding on which
level and what are some of the grades that you
would look at some of these positions how do you
rank the positions? Who's number one, who's number two? If
you had your choice today, what would you rank as

(25:47):
the number one room on this team? Man, As crazy
as this might seem, because it's unproven, I would say

(26:08):
running back because CJ backs are healthy.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Where the Trey Wisner that showed that he.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Can rush for thirteen fourteen hundred yards and double digit touchdowns.
Those two guys with a youngster, a guy that was
a freshman last year, and baby Rhino who is they
say doing the best, that he's better than last year.
That's three guys that will pound the ball at you.

(26:39):
If you can get a base block. The second guy
that's going to hit him is going to hit him
three yards down the field and a linebacker is going
to get tired of that. And you know Marcus always
plays the sound the beast mode, and bast mode is
always like he he put it in there for you.

(27:02):
I'm gonna go I'm gonna hit you over and over
like that is the mentality of this offense. And aren't
you just gonna be able to pull it and go
down the sideline by himself? Well, you also got to
put it in the fact that Christian Clark, somebody that
a lot of folks hadn't got a chance. Sorry Christian
that I didn't mention you, because he is a talented

(27:25):
running back too and can catch it, yep, And they're
both He's coming back from the knee injury, but he's
gonna be ready to go. And they have them as
the number four room on their breakdown of the top rooms.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
For me, the number one room for me is the
linebacker room.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
And I can probably it's hard, it's hard to argue,
but I would give it to the running backs because
I feel like they're unproven.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
That's why they're four. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
I believe that the linebacker room is something that if
you start to look at who is in there with
Anthony Hill and Leongola, those are guys that came in together.
We heard about their relationship, the communication that they have
some of the stuff they don't even need to say
because they know each other has one another's back. And
then you also put in ty Anthony Smith, who has

(28:14):
been getting a lot of praise throughout his time on
the forty Acres. He's been able to be a playmaker
and come up big. You also now have moved Trey
Moore from the defensive end part or the week side linebacker,
or however you want to do. I mean not weekside linebacker,
two weeks side linebacker, but he was coming off the edge.
And now you have that. And a guy that has

(28:36):
been getting a ton a ton of credit is Arkansas
transfer Brad Spence. When guys have been talking about some
people that are standing out, Spence is one of the
guys whose name pops up during that time.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Another room that they.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Considered pretty high in this situation is the cornerback room.
The cornerback room they have at number three with Malik Muhammad,
Jalen Gilbo, Kobe Black has done an unbelievable job as
well getting a lot of runs. Santana Wilson, son of
a former NFL player.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
He is getting some love so Texas.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
As you start to look at this secondary because they're
gonna be challenged. If you look at Ohio State, their
strengths is their wide receiving corps. They're gonna be challenged
the first game out of the block. But I always
look at it like this as easy as they're gonna
say they're gonna be challenged, that Ohio State wide receiver
corps is going to be challenged as well. Yeah, if

(29:38):
I'm the secondary guys, I'm the best friend of Colin
Simmons and Anthony Hill in Lafoule.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
I'm like, guys, I need y'all to get to them.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
I need y'all to put the pressure on because we
don't want to cover these guys for three seconds.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
You can't. We need two point five, we need one
point eight.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Yep, Like we can cover everybody for two seconds, right,
I mean blanking them. But that's the secret, Sauce, is
that pass rush. You had mentioned something a little bit earlier.
You were talking about fantasy football and you were talking
about Trevion Henderson. Trevion Henderson was the one who really
broke Texas's back on the screenplayer and took it.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
To the house.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
But they held Jeremiah Smith to just one reception. So
now the challenge is because they picked the poison, because
they also know Ohio State is like, we can't have
that happen again. We got lucky in that instance. We
cannot have that again. So they're gonna try to devise
some ways to get him the rock as well. Coming

(30:39):
up next, we're gonna give you a chance to win
a pair of tickets and also Swifty fans. We found
out something that made us even like.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Her even more.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Yes, we here on the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Mark.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
A lot of people, including my daughter, are huge Taylor
swift fans.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Uh oh, here we go.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
A lot of people are now Swifties that probably weren't
Swifties because of the relationship that she has with one
Travis Kelcey. By the way, Travis Kelcey was on GQ.
I know you've seen those pictures. It is kind of
interesting to start being in so many other things. When
it comes to some of those pictures. You remember that

(32:05):
scene when Martin Lawrence was doing his stand up and
he said water glistening all load. Well, he has a
picture like that in GQ and a lot of people
are making comments.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
A lot of Swifties are making comments.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
But we know that Jason Kelsey and his brother Jason
Kelsey have a podcast. I mean what I say, Jason
and Travis Sorry, they have a podcast called The Heights
and it's one of the most popular podcasts that's out there,
and a lot of people are following it. Now there's
even more people that are looking at it because of

(32:50):
Taylor Swift. She did an exclusive interview with them well
during that time, and she did an album release and
during that time she made a statement about the NFL
Draft and how excited she was and let us know
that she was worthy for James.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
Worthy, you diving into the football world. Oh my god.
I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
I became like a person who was running through the
halls of my house screaming we.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Drafted Xavier, You're worthy?

Speaker 2 (33:23):
And I was like, what is who? Body snatched you?

Speaker 7 (33:28):
This is?

Speaker 2 (33:28):
This is it? What do you mean we drafted You're worthy.
I forget where it was, but you were the first
person to tell me that. I was screeching. I couldn't
believe it. I was freaking out. We're talking about like,
I'm like, wait, does she she write? I had to
look this up. I'm like, she she get the wrong
information here? We traded up.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Yeah, we're talking about cover two, cover four, cover zero,
man covered.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
We're talking we're learning.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Yeah, she's all in and it's not James Worthy. It's
exave You're worthy. If she was a jans Worthy Jane Worthy,
I don't know if any life left the legs.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
His check in the light is definitely on. She got
a hold of YouTube.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
But the fact of the matter is, throughout this transformation,
she's been getting a lot of flat People don't want
to see her on the camera. And if you go
back and you really do a deep dive and how
long she's actually being viewed during this games, it is
less than a minute total of all the times they
pan to her.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
So it's not a big deal.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
I don't I could care less about those situations. The
one thing I was tired of was seeing Jackson Mahomes
all the time, and it was probably even less than that,
but he was annoying. But the fact remains that she's
not just a person now that is dating a football player.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
She is a friend.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
She is immersed into the game and she spends time
with Andy Reid. They hang out with the Mahome, They
are doing things as a couple. And the fact that
he embraced it. He gets a lot of flak because
he used to be, you know, soul brother number two.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
You know, now he's back over to where he wants
to be. You know, just leave it alone, man, do
like Michael Jackson. Leave it alone. But now he is,
he's got a new fans himself.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
He's got the Swifties that are a part of him
and he better not do nothing wrong the Taylor swift
because just like the Beehive going out exactly. But it
is an interesting piece that she was so excited that
they got Xavier Worthy, as was Xavier worthy to find
out that he was going to the Kansas City Chiefs

(35:40):
because he's got a good quarterback. Well how about this,
though she knew enough that the fastest guy in the
NFL or at the combine would stretch and put the
defense at of cover too most of the time, which
would leave the middle open for Travis to have.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
A better time.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Yeah, and so I mean she knows enough, she's she's
learning ball now that I guarantee you.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
She was not paying attention to know all like that.
And because she sounds way danced.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Well, they've been together for quite some time now, and
he's watching film. So if you, if you were, if
you are part of something, you're gonna learn everything about that,
so you could be good, just like him going to
all these concerts, like he was not going to Taylor
Swift concerts.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
I guarantee you. I guarantee you. You do not know
every song that she said, not at all.

Speaker 8 (36:33):
He does now, but how smoothly she chunked out covered two.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
And because he's like, probably had to explain watch watching film.
And plus you know when you're sitting there watching film,
which you know Travis has to watch hours, and she's like,
are you still watching film?

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Right, and then she's gonna sit down there with him
one day and he's gonna just start explaining it like
that's I mean, it is what it is. I had
to do that with wrestling to my family because they
were worried about me, right, and you don't get scared.
I'm like, no, I don't get scared. I just I'd
rather practice and rehearse him most of them, most of them.

(37:18):
But I was I was a guy that studied and
I watched so many matches hard. I watched fifteen hours
of wrestling.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
A week now. I watched more back then. Yeah, and
you're not even participating, right, I had more time though.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
But now you know, First off, I can't believe he
just did a whole segment on Taylor Swift in her.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Yes we did. We did that?

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Are we Swift XAF you're worthy being drafted? And her
friends saying, who body snatched you? Because you are not
that's you. That's not the same person that we knew
before that had zero idea. And I haven't heard any
of her new music because I don't think she has
break I'm going to I don't think there's breakup songs

(38:07):
in there because she's been with Travis. Listen, I'm gonna
listen to the music because if she loves what we love,
why shouldn't we give her a shot?

Speaker 2 (38:17):
You know what I'm saying. I'm dead serious.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
I mean, I'm not I'm not having them come from
me because my daughter is a swifty Just just not
your head go along because the people on the camera
watching they're gonna be like, whoa, whoa heart you kind
of got a little defensive.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
My daughter is a swifties. So what she wants to
listen to, I will listen to.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
But the thing is I don't have to drive her
all the time, so she don't get control of my
radio in my car. But I will give it a chance,
and and and they will come on and sing a song. No,
we won't listen you your shower music. And what you
want to listen to in your card is yours?

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Talk about it right here you we're not doing that either.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
Our number one is in the bucks. Our number two
is just around the corner. Make sure you're tuned in
for the entire second hour. But of course we got
Legends of the Locker Room segment with Lance Gun, former
safety and lifetime long James Worthman. No right here on
the morning kickoff on Sports Radio A thirteen hundred. As all,

(39:24):
we are sixteen days away from Texas in Ohio state.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
We talked a lot about the Texas schedule.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Got a very interesting schedule we also talked NFL holdouts,
and we had a whole segment on the Swifties. Coming
up in the next segment at eight seventeen, Lifetime Longhorn
and former safety here at the University of Texas and
he used to wear number sixteen.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Lance Gun will be joining us.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
We'll also have the World's Strongest Man bringing you his
World's Strongest take, and we will finish off the show
talking about Texas women's basketball.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
That's right. They had a game yesterday and we will
talk about that.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
But right now, I want to go back up to
Dallas because of the fact that we're gonna talk coaches
on the Hot Seat, and I'll explain my reasoning behind
this in just a moment. But they have a list
that is out right now of coaches that you would
consider being on the hot seat, and a lot of

(40:28):
those guys are connected to players that have made some
changes and are being held out of camp. Mark and
I'm gonna start at the bottom of the list because
there's multiple names that is on this deal, but I'm

(40:49):
gonna start in Cleveland with Kevin Stefanski. Kevin Stefanski, two
time ap NFL Coach of the Year in five seasons
in Cleveland. But now they are coming off of three
and fourteen campaign and now they have fifteen quarterbacks in
their camp. And by the way, Deshaun Watson, I don't

(41:11):
know if you've seen the video, Deshaun Watson is almost back.
He is almost healthy. He is pushing himself, he has
been working out, he's throwing. That will add another quarterback
into this diabolical mix of quarterbacks. And news came out
yesterday that Shador Sanders, who everybody's been talking about, will

(41:33):
unlikely play against the Philadelphia Eagles because he is dealing.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
With an oblique strain.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
So now this was putting more heat on Stefanski if
he doesn't do well. Another name that's out there Jonathan Gannon.
He is the Cardinals head coach. He is somebody that
if Kyler Murray is on his last stand in in Arizona,

(42:00):
he could be on his last Damn. Shane Steichen of
the Indianapolis Coats, Daniel Jones Anthony Richardson. Do either one
of them gonna make you keep your job? No, exactly,
so he is on the heights hot seat. Brian Dayball
somebody that we liked when he first got into the league.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
And what he was able to do.

Speaker 1 (42:24):
Now you're looking at over the last couple of seasons,
they're nine and twenty five. In the last two seasons
they drafted Jackson Dart who could be their future. But
you're going with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winson. Now you're
putting your next.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Job in this. But you always get another year when
you get a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (42:50):
And you got them the wrong decision on the quarterback, well,
I mean, I don't think it would be a right
decision to start him because they're.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
Gonna throw anything own decision.

Speaker 1 (43:00):
If you went out and got Russell, you would get
a little bit more time if you started Jackson dark
because you would expect the struggles. But if you go
out and get a quarterback like Russell Wilson and Jameis
Winston for them to go out there and do that,
it kind of creates a different conversation.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
Yeah, and you paid them, so you got to play them. Yep. Yeah,
unless you're just horrible at other spots on the field,
their defense is going to be one of the best
in the league.

Speaker 8 (43:24):
I'm talking I'm talking offensively in another position that your response.

Speaker 2 (43:32):
That's the reason that saves them. But that's the reason
why coach he's neo. He's the one.

Speaker 1 (43:39):
Okay, he is that one, not even believing that. But
they their defense is going to be talented enough. They
got Molak Neighbors at wide receiver. Yeah, he's gonna be
a top five exactly in fantasy draft. There's no excuses,
basically what I'm saying, Mike McDaniel, he is on the
hot seat thousand percent because two things. Number One, he

(44:00):
just doesn't seem to have control of his football team.
Number One, he does not seem to have control. He's
funny on the sidelines, he's quick with the media, but
at the end of the day, they need dubs in
Miami and Dreik Hill is starting to wear at the
end with me.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
And he's starting to wear a thing with Miami.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
I mean like this is one of those things that
they better get rid of him so you can get
something for him, because he's definitely still got some juice.
Zach Taylor. You have Joe Burrow, you have Jamar Chase,
you have your guy holding out because you're not paying him.
Trey Hendrickson the offense is gonna score points, but you

(44:39):
got to be able to stop somebody. You can't keep
winning games in the NFL forty five to forty and
keep thinking this good. He says something interesting yesterday that
Mojoe magic or whatever it is that happens kinsas City
Chiefs was a byproduct of it. On the wins situation,

(45:00):
absolutely they had. They won eight of nine games one
score games last year. Said, I think that's never gonna
happen again. Miami was on the other side of that.
I mean the Bengals were on the other side of that.
The Bengals. Out of the seven games that were one

(45:21):
score games, they only won two, but they always the
only reason why they lost five games that were one position.
But the problem with the Bengals is they always start
slow in September. Over the last couple of seasons, they
are seven fourteen and one in September under Zach Taylor.

Speaker 2 (45:42):
Wow, you have to that's the difference.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
But a lot of that is because of injury to
the quarterback and the quarterback starter.

Speaker 2 (45:52):
He played all year last year, Joe played all year
last year.

Speaker 1 (45:55):
And not having a Cowboys right now, not playing your
starters and you're not having a cohesive understanding between your
quarterback and he receives you. You're learning on the fly.
That's why they started last week. That's why they played
in the game, because they weren't getting enough reps in

(46:16):
game situations.

Speaker 2 (46:17):
Scrimmages.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
I understand it because scrimmagers are still controlled as well,
so you still have to go out there and handle that.
And the number one name on there is Mike Tomlin.
Mike Tomlin is under pressure right now because that story of.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
He's based on the shine like a diamond. He under
so much pressure.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
He is that guy never had a losing season in
the NFL. That is a great Moniker. But the last
time you've been to the Super Bowl was two thousand
and seven. The last time you had a playoff win
was twenty sixteen. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys
are living parallel lives. But Dallas is thirty years so

(46:58):
we ain't even talk about that. That's thirty year right.
But here's the other part. You go out and sign
to Grandpapa at Aaron Rodgers to go play quarterback for you.
You go out and get DK Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey,
who dropped as many balls as anybody in the league. Yes,
and you now got rid of George Pickens. Thank you

(47:20):
for the Cowboys thinking that. So this is a win absolutely.
Now They've only had three coaches since nineteen sixty nine.
They have to win or those people are going to
make a change. I know that the Rooneyes love Mike
Tomlin and don't like to make changes with their coaches.

Speaker 2 (47:39):
I get it. But at a certain point, these fans
in Pittsburgh, they're gonna be pissed. What if? Can we
play the what if games for a second? Sure?

Speaker 1 (47:47):
What if Mike Tomlin bringing Aaron Rodgers in, they go
to the playoffs and they win a playoff game? If? Yeah,
I mean that's a lot of what else, what if
ifs and buts was candy and nuts with all Marry Christmas. Well,
I'm gonna add another name to that. And I know

(48:08):
I shouldn't. Oh, here we go, but it's Shottenheimer. And
the reason why I'm saying this is because I'm not
liking some of the things that I'm hearing from him.
And he was challenged yesterday by Jesse Holly, former Dallas
cowboy and now works with our guy, Clarence Hill Jr.
He was talking about you saying one thing but you're

(48:31):
doing something different. If you are going to be a
man that says we are going to be a team
that will run it down your throat and then you
come out and throw six straight passes, I've got an
issue with that. And here's what Schottenheimer fired back at
Jesse Holly.

Speaker 6 (48:48):
Well, I love the question number one, and I will
say this. The one thing I will always be with
you and everybody, the fans, the players. I will always
be authentic. I'm always going to tell you what I
what I think of, what I believe. Here's what I
would say to you. We went into that game last
week with a very specific purpose. We wanted to kind
of put Joe out there and sling it around a
little bit. That was the plan, and see how he

(49:09):
handled it. And quite honestly, we started slow. We had
limited opportunities. I wouldn't read too much into what you
see in the preseason. The preseason is for evaluation. I
don't have to go out there on the first preseason game,
or even this game against Baltimore Atlanta and run at
fifty times to show that.

Speaker 2 (49:25):
I think I would go.

Speaker 6 (49:26):
To my history, my history of coordinator in Seattle led
the league and rushing in twenty eighteen. Coordinator in two
thousand and eight, New York Jets led the league in rushing.
So again, I appreciate, love the question. The question's fair question,
but I wouldn't read too much into what you see
in preseason football in general, but.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
Even more this year.

Speaker 6 (49:44):
Why, Well, we're trying to evaluate certain guys, and Joe
Milton's a guy that needs to play a lot of football.
He's going to play a lot of football this week
and then the next week, and we're certainly being smart
with what we show.

Speaker 2 (49:54):
And why would we do that.

Speaker 6 (49:55):
We would do that because this is the one chance
that we'll ever have here in Dallas where we don't
show people in the preseason what we're doing. Because next
year they're gonna have a really good idea, they're gonna have,
hopefully twenty plus games to look at and evaluate. This year,
they don't have that. Hey, are we going to be Seattle?

Speaker 2 (50:11):
I don't know. Are we gonna be Arizona? I don't know. Well,
what about we're gonna be Dallas? And I kind of
like that you just made the list. I love it.
I love the way he answered the question. He said
it with his chest but.

Speaker 1 (50:30):
Why wouldn't Joe Milton hand the ball to somebody, Why
wouldn't they do some zone read, Why wouldn't they do
some stretch awesome RPO like run you can.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
Still run the ball. I agree, and I think that
there are some importance to understanding exactly who you have
and what you have.

Speaker 1 (50:50):
And even in those scrimmages, you have not been able
to move the ball. That's why you've been so mad.
That's why you threw the bombs during the game. You
have to establish something. Don't be talking about history because
the history ain't been Don't be going back to old
stuff exactly.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
Coming up next, we are going back to old stuff by.

Speaker 1 (51:10):
Guy Lance Gunn, former Texas Longhorn safety and representative of
Number six ten. That's right, sixteen days away from Texas
and Ohio State right here. Coming up next on the
morning tick Off on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred the zero.

Speaker 5 (51:36):
Let's let's just set the locker pay. Let's just set
just go live. We did get put just leaginion. Let's
just set the locker pay. Let's just set on the
end and you know that people, Let's just set the
locker pay. Let's just set the live we take it

(51:57):
to put this region. Let's just set the locker.

Speaker 2 (51:59):
Pay you.

Speaker 4 (52:05):
Mark.

Speaker 1 (52:06):
We're back baby, sixteen days away. And what better way
to enjoy sixteen days away from Texas and Ohio State?
Then bring it on our own number sixteen. He's a
Hall of Honor member and he's a lifetime Longhorn.

Speaker 2 (52:22):
He is lance Gun and you see him right there,
big Sin. What's up baby? How you doing?

Speaker 1 (52:32):
Man?

Speaker 2 (52:32):
What's going on with you? My friend? You good? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (52:38):
I'm good there, got yeah, we got you now, We
got you now. So I want to get right into it.
Sixteen days away from Texas and Ohio State at the shoe,
you had played in some big ball games, but I
guarantee you you hadn't played in one as big as
game number one. When you're taking a trip to Columbus,
Ohio to start the what are some of your fondest

(53:02):
memories of your time on the forty Acres, but more importantly,
what you've seen from this football team over the last
couple of seasons.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
For sure?

Speaker 7 (53:10):
So from my standpoint, getting four against OU's always nice, right,
can't keep back?

Speaker 2 (53:16):
Sure said with you, Jim.

Speaker 7 (53:20):
Always comes in handy, for sure. We had a couple
of big games. Game versus U of AH in nineteen
ninety was nice as well. Right, So we had some
decent wins for sure. So from this team standpoint, right,
this coach has done a fantastic job. But you got
twenty five draft picks the last two years, some Outland trophies,
some thorpear right, So just across the board, you look

(53:41):
at this team now a little deceptive. They got nine
starters returning, but there's four or five six guys like
Colin Simmons isn't listed as a starter, Burke isn't listed
as a returning starter, Arch isn't listened as a return
and started that. We know those guys can play and
gonna make a lot of plays for the Longhorns this year.
So we are going to the Shoe. We will be

(54:02):
there with our burnos on. We're leaving out of here
that Thursday night, get there Friday, and be there at
a big noon.

Speaker 2 (54:12):
I like that in the Shoe. I like that.

Speaker 1 (54:14):
We're talking to Lance Gun and Lance you know, I
sit here today and think about the times when you
guys were here on the forty acres and then you
fast forward. Your team finished number three in the country
one year in this Texas football team, you go from
eight to five and then you progress and you can
I mean five and seven, then the eight and five,
and then you continue to progress. And one of the

(54:36):
things that stands out to me is the leadership in
that locker room and the buy ind that a team
has when you start to listen to how they talk,
they sound like coach Sark in a lot of those instances.
Is that something that you've noticed as a former player
and being in those locker.

Speaker 7 (54:55):
Rooms, Absolutely, you can certainly see that Sark spend a
lot of time with the way you build a program,
the way you recruit, and obviously getting the right guys
in the locker room that not only have talent and
athletic ability to make plays, but also can help you
build your culture right in that deal. So I think
he's got something that's sustainable for sure. Right, And they've

(55:16):
been close, right, you're a player two here there, and
they're certainly playing for a national title and winning an
SEC conference game or a conference championship. So they're doing
all the right things us as long hom fans, I'm
sure them is a program. It's like, hey, you know,
they'd like to get an set championship this year and
get a national title.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Is it all possible? Right, that's kind of the next
big step for the program. Lance. I've always been a
big fan. Your style of play.

Speaker 1 (55:43):
Was every like, very smart, cerebral, but would come up
and tackle. What do you see in this secondary that
Texas has right now? That is reminiscent of your play
for sure?

Speaker 7 (55:58):
Right, there is a high level to your point of
savvy across Dean tyrant. Right, So they don't give up
any big plays. They may get beat here or there,
they're rarely out of position.

Speaker 4 (56:09):
Right.

Speaker 7 (56:10):
You don't see a lot of blown coverages, and obviously
they've got talent and athletic ability. A THROP Award winner
last year, A couple of guys with granmay on the
watch list going into this year.

Speaker 2 (56:19):
So I appreciate you saying that, right you are.

Speaker 7 (56:22):
I'm a big fan of yours as well, and I
know that means a lot coming from you, So I
thank you for the kind of words. I really appreciate it.
DBU is back. Let there be no mistake about it,
and it is in full effect.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (56:36):
We also were talking about this too, because we're gonna
stay with the secondary a little bit. Obviously, Michael Taff
wearing the number sixteen and representing it to the fullest.
You also have the quarterback mister Manning that everybody is
talking about across the nation.

Speaker 2 (56:53):
When you think of both of those guys.

Speaker 1 (56:55):
Obviously we can wait on what we expect from Arch
because you've got to get hisself out there. But Michael
Tadd playing that position, that safety position, making big plays,
being the leader in that back end. It's gotta be
refreshing to see that, especially with a guy that's wearing
your number.

Speaker 2 (57:12):
For sure.

Speaker 7 (57:12):
Certainly I thought that was one of the biggest guys
that decided to come back this year, right to kind
of bring that whole deal together. You always want to
be solid up the middle, and like I said, he
kind of directs that deal and makes a lot of
plays on his own. I just asked it when they
retire our number, that they give me a little love, right,
they get a little.

Speaker 2 (57:28):
Mention for you, boy, Oh you gonna get it.

Speaker 1 (57:31):
You gonna get that love if you don't get it
by them, If you're gonna get it by me.

Speaker 2 (57:36):
At heart, that deal up. But I just want him
to mention because it's in passing. You know what I'm saying,
no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (57:43):
Yeah, I'm hard and I We're gonna be the We're
gonna be the lands Gun Bandwagon.

Speaker 2 (57:48):
We're gonna pull up.

Speaker 1 (57:50):
Hey, we're gonna have out sixteen jerseys on say, don't forget,
I got it, says gun which two ends on the back.

Speaker 2 (58:01):
Gotta love it, gotta love it.

Speaker 7 (58:03):
So let me and then obvious the arts, right, I
mean that's I think the ability to make plays off
script is going to be the biggest difference, right, I
mean that's you know, I think he'll run the offense,
do you think? But there's gonna be some times when
the play doesn't materialize as it's designed, and I think
he's gonna be able to make a few plays along
the way.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (58:21):
You and I have had conversations about this as well, Ben,
that he is a lot more mobile and willing to
run as opposed to what we saw from Quinn. But
when you look at him as the Manning family, the
heir to the throne, as you would say, you start
to understand that coach sharks offense. Now we may see

(58:43):
a full gamut of his offense because of the ability
to hit that deep ball and the ability to want
to throw that deep ball.

Speaker 7 (58:52):
For sure, I think you're saying it absolutely right. It
makes play calling a little easier, right, It doesn't have
to be perfect, and when it goes off script, he
can make some plays and certainly appears to open up
a little bit more of the playbook in that piece.
And then obviously the pressure. There's a lot of talk,
but I think you know that he's felt that his
whole life, right the minute he decided to play quarterback,

(59:14):
the minute he decided to play quarterback in the SEC.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
It just came with the territory.

Speaker 7 (59:19):
So I don't think that is as big a deal
to him as it may be the ny l Us,
just because I think he's lived with that his whole life.

Speaker 1 (59:26):
Liz, if you're arch manning and being a guy that
played in the secondary for so many years and at
a high level, what is the most dangerous thing to
you the tight end coming across are running the scene?
Are you having to play covered too and worry about
a guy that can burn you to the pyelone.

Speaker 7 (59:49):
The cover two piece, right, you know that covering that
there's a hole in the middle of the field, and
to your point, that post corner piece, you know that stuff,
and he can put the ball on the line and
put air in it right whatever he needs to do.
So I think that piece right there is gonna be
the toughness I think will be again. Another difference in
the way the offense this looks this year. The ability

(01:00:11):
to throw the ball a little bit more in the
middle of the field. I think you'll definitely see a
lot of that. I think I know the answer. But
what's your prediction for Texas this season?

Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
I think they win a national time.

Speaker 7 (01:00:23):
I don't know that they go undefeated, but I think
they win an SEC championship in a national title, right,
I mean, I think this is the last two years
in particular, has been working towards this. I think Ohio
State showed us something last year. You don't have to
win a conference title to win a national championship, right,
That is no longer a barrier. Matter of fact, I

(01:00:45):
believe they finished fourth in the Big Ten if I'm
not mistaken, not second or third.

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
But I think they get a national championship done for sure.
I love it, love it. There he is our guy, Lancego.

Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
We will be pointing to number sixteen, but it's gonna
have Gun on the back of it because he always
represents I appreciate you taking the time, my brother, and
we'll have you on again soon once the season get rolling.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Absolutely, thanks Gush for the words.

Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
There is Lance Gunn former Texas Longhorn and a Hall
of Honor members as well. When we come back, it's
the World's Strongest Man bringing you his world's strongest take
right here on in the morning kickoff on Sports Radio
and thirteen hundred the Zone.

Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
Great stuff from.

Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
Lance gun Texas Longhorn, Lifetime Longhorn legend joining the show.
But what of our legends, One and only Mark Henry,
the World's Strongest Man brings you his world's strongest take.

Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
Take it away, big fellow art, what's up man? You know?

Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Fifth time for the World's Strongest Take by.

Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
The World's Strongest Man. MA guess back then they didn't
know me. Now I'm hot, They're all on me.

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
Guys. I want you to be all on this on
this take today because I'm coming. I'm coming to you
with a heavy heart.

Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
And a little bit more, a little bit less worry
than I have in the last two years. My take
today is about fantasy football. Wait what Oh yeah, I've
not been good at it. I'm just gonna go on

(01:02:38):
record right now I have not.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Why are you laughing so hard like that?

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Because I can admit when I'm not doing something well.

Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
That's very, very true. I'm sorry. That's how you grow.
That's how you grow, sir. But I'm going to get
back to my take if you don't mind. All right, So.

Speaker 1 (01:02:59):
The reason that I don't do well in fantasy football
is I picked with my heart. I don't go by
the statistics. I don't go by what's proven. Everything that says, hey,
this is what you do, I go against it. I

(01:03:23):
had the second pick in the draft. Somebody picked McCaffrey.
I could have picked sa Kwan Barkley. I said, nope,
I'm picking b Jeon Robinson because he was a longharm.
In the first four games, he didn't do well, and

(01:03:43):
I traded him Hard's last because I am quick to pivot.

Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
Hold on.

Speaker 1 (01:03:52):
Before you finish that statement, it all makes sense now
now you know Mark is not afraid to trade everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
Everybody, go ahead. Also, it all makes sense of the
djon hate. Yep, go ahead. Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:04:06):
So that being said, I've never ever, nor will I
pick a Philadelphia Eagle a Washington Commander. As much as
I respect Jalen Daniels, I will not pick him. My

(01:04:27):
take today is fantasy football has made it very easy
for people.

Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Arge to and Marcus to go against their own team.

Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
There are guys that are wishing that their team Dak
Griscott is on the fantasy team of the guy you're playing.

Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
Oh man, I hope Dak dom. I mean, I want
him to get twenty twenty five. But I won't. I won't.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
I won't, Lamark Jackson, give me forty. You cheering against
your own teams, guys, I can't listen. I would rather
lose fantasy, lose the team that I cheer for, Harge,
What say you, Mark, Mark, I'm gonna suck at fantasy.

(01:05:24):
The reason why I laughed is because I've been in
a fantasy league with you multiple times. I've seen I've
done well but number one, and I've seen.

Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
The trades.

Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
I've seen the drops of players. I've seen the fact
that you can be number one on the waiver wire,
but you won't take an opposing player because you don't
want to lose your fandom.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
To the cowb I'm not gonna I'm not gonna get them.
I understand. But your pocket book, it's one hundred dollars.
It's one hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
And if I lose it, I lose it, okay, But
I am not gonna sacrifice my integrity. I will not
give up my love and my allegiance and my loyalty
of my team for a hundred dollars. Run me my
money because I am changing. I too, in the very beginning,

(01:06:24):
was like you. There were certain players that I would
not pick. I would not pick Ben Roethlisberger until I
had to pick rent Ben Roethlisberger, and he helped me
win championship.

Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
There were certain players that I, yeah, I want two leagues.
I forgot, but I digress.

Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
It's about me, Mark, this is about you and the
fact that you dig so deep in the crates that
you do not want championships. I'm with Lord t though
you have become Jerry Jones. You wait, you, sir, you
take that back. You are box office. You're not trying

(01:07:04):
to win all. No, no, you do not want to
win a championship. You just want to be in the league.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
It calls controversy. That is who you have become. You
take that back. You are now Jerry Jones.

Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
No Fantasy am not. I am not Jared Jones. Jared
Jones he is. He is the opposite of me. What
do you mean, Jerry Jones, He's a front he's he
will not pay his players.

Speaker 4 (01:07:37):
Me.

Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
I'm I want who's gonna do well? Do you want
a championship?

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
Do you want to be crowned champion of your fantasy
football league? Or do you want to continue to be
in the middle of the pack and go eight to
eight to get into the playoffs?

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Every single I want to win this ship. You have
become the Dallas Cowboys, a fan to see football.

Speaker 1 (01:08:01):
So if I get a top four pick, yes, and
I pass up a b Jon Robinson Barkley, then I'm
shooting myself in the foot. You Oh my goodness, you
don't even have a foot man lived over here. I
hope I'm the one with the pick after you. Exactly, man.

(01:08:24):
That's why everybody says, Okay, I promise, I make this
promise to the fantasy football world.

Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
This year.

Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
I will set aside my allegiance and if if if
Jalen Daniels is there, I'll get it if I if
I get a number one, number two, because if you
don't get a number one, number two, you're not gonna
get SAE correct, So you're.

Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
Hoping you don't get you want to be number three,
number four. So it's already.

Speaker 7 (01:09:00):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
Oh my god, this is painful just to think about it.
I'm serious, I just took it. Is the advice to you.

Speaker 8 (01:09:10):
You take those guys, just don't playing against the Cowboys
because when they playing each other, you can just root
for them just murdering each other.

Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
No, no, because this is the problem. And I'm glad
you brought that up. Because the thing what if they
what if they if they win the game, he has
a good game and they win, then the Cowboys get
kicked out of the playoffs. Then then what I'm gonna
do this, This is what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna
take I apologize for calling you, Jerry Jones. I'm apologizing.
You are now the Cincinnati Bengals. You don't do well

(01:09:39):
in the first month of the season, so you get
rid of your players. No, he doesn't even get the
players trained by Jon Robinson.

Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
Well, I'm talking does not have a good first three games.

Speaker 8 (01:09:52):
He's not drafting Saquon Barkley though he's not paying his playoffs.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Say this the Bengals, He's Jon was your favorite runner
back's favorite running back?

Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
How about that?

Speaker 4 (01:10:02):
Just so you know?

Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
But I love Jon obviously you your loyalty Ran Short
because you got rid of him.

Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Man, you gottat you.

Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
He's gotta do just like the Bengals, get off to
a better start. That dude finishes strong. It ain't how
you start, it's how you finish. Because they don't give
trophies away. I'm gonna draft him again if I If
he's there, why are you telling no?

Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
You can't tell me what to dude. You're my fantasy team.
You not my daddy. We're not allow with you. You
ja Zy's dad.

Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
I'm gonna call whoever's in your league and tell him
punish him. We'll close out the show and send you
to Dan Patrick. Texas women played basketball yesterday, Aymark Roy
Harmon played yesterda. She will talk about it right here
on the More. They kick off on sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred The Zone. If you've been sending part of

(01:10:55):
the show, get over to our podcast page wherever you
get your podcast, but we prefer you get over to
the Eye Heart Radio app. Get over there and look
for AM thirteen hundred to Zoe. You can also preset
us as number one on that app. Anything that's happening
when you're pop up and you'll be ready to go
and you can do the podcast as number two.

Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
If you miss our guy, Lance Gunn, who we are
fighting for at number sixteen, Number sixteen.

Speaker 1 (01:11:20):
Lance gun another number sixteen is a good friend of
mine and went to high school with my wife.

Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
OJ McClintock. OJ one of the dopest ones that was
out there.

Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
I was getting calls about him a long time ago
while I was playing baseball.

Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
Because how tough he was. OJ, shout out brother. And
then also.

Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
Michael Taff he had arch manning James Street. So many
number sixteens that are out there and getting that opportunity
to be recognized.

Speaker 2 (01:11:47):
You've seen you got a lot of love, got a
lot of love.

Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
And I appreciate Lance for doing what he's doing because
you can tell he's still very engaged with.

Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
The program and what's going on with the program.

Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Uh play some sound from Cincinnati Bengals since we were
talking about him in just a moment, but right now,
I want to talk a little bit about Texas women's basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
A lot of you may not have known.

Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
Texas women went to Toronto and they are playing in
the Global Jam. And yesterday they defeated Puerto Rico eighty
five to forty five, and you got a chance to
see some new people that got a chance to play.
A lot of new players got that opportunity to come
in and knock down buckets. Ashton Judge, she connected on

(01:12:35):
four to three pointers, which is going to be huge
for this Texas women's hit. She hit by herself. She's
transferred from Missouri. Jordan Lee, she played well. So the
starting lineup that smart girl.

Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
The starting lineup for the University of Texas women was
Kyla Justice, Carlton, Jordan Lee, Madison Booker, and Rory Harmon.

Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
So they all got a chance to get some run.

Speaker 1 (01:13:09):
Four players had double digits, led by Justice Carlton who
had eighteen Carlton was six of eleven and had seven rebounds.
Kyla Oldacre seventeen points, eleven rebounds, Ashton Judd, who just
talked about, had four to three point field goals with
fifteen points, and Tayana Taya Sadbury had ten points. She too,

(01:13:34):
is another transfer. She was at Boston College, so she's six'.
One So texas had some players that were out there
that were doing some amazing. Things and you NOTICE i
didn't have to Say Rory, HARMON i D Madison. Bok
so that is what this development part of this team.
Is They texas forced thirty four. Turnovers thirty four turnovers

(01:13:57):
in this, matchup so.

Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
It's hard to. Win and when you turn the time
and they.

Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
Will take On canada tonight at seven O'clock central, Time,
bro they are going to be ready to. Play so
that was outstanding stuff by The texas. Women AS i,
said they Beat Puerto rico and The Global jam eighty
five to forty. Five and Uh roy didn't play that,
long so she was just out. There but she did

(01:14:24):
say she felt comfortable moving around without moving without and
being able to play the. GAME i think she played
like fourteen. MINUTES i made an, apology he. Did we
were proud of. You you're taking, steps, Man i'm trying
to be. Better, yeah YOU i appreciate that mark about.
You we were talking about The Cincinnati bengals and what's

(01:14:47):
going on with them and them being able to get
off to a fast. Start they have struggle throughout this.
Time they don't Have Trey, hendrickson but they finally signed their,
Guy Schamar turner defensive end From OAK i mean From
Ann TEXAS a AND m who was holding out because.

Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
They were trying to put some language in and he
wasn't falling for the banana and the.

Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
Tailpipe but he almost almost got sent home yesterday because
he did the ultimate no, no and one of the
offensive linemen for The Cincinnati bengals was not happy with.

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Him many.

Speaker 6 (01:15:36):
Is that war to the?

Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
RESPONSE i, mean obviously on what would happen.

Speaker 8 (01:15:41):
TODAY i didn't want to Touch, Joe but, overall do
you like the kind of edge Of margarine the defensive?

Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Line hell, yeah it was a great. Rush i'll have
to see. IT i was on the other side of
the lion strimmergs but great. Players but come, on, man
that's that's all our hopes and dreams right. Now we
got to be better. Too that's how.

Speaker 1 (01:16:04):
He was a little upset because they got too close To.
Joe burrow hit him towards his knee and he did,
not but it was too close for. Comfort and the
problem is if you see the video Of schamar he
was falling and he wasn't trying to go. Low he

(01:16:25):
was falling because he was trying to get past the. Lineman,
now in, defense he did, say we have to be
better up front as an offensive. Line so nobody, exactly
but he did acknowledge the fact that, hey he got
bound somebody.

Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
Else it wasn't. ME i was on the other. SIDE i,
SAID i didn't get to see it, yet But i'm gonnau.

Speaker 1 (01:16:45):
Have to look at it because it wasn't on. Me
but the funny part not, Funny but the part that
really stood out to me was the fact he, said
that's our. Savior that's without, him we got no. Shot
it's not even a. Sandwich that's like he's the bread

(01:17:08):
and the. Meat, yes we just let us into maatoes
and that is not gonna go down like. THAT i,
mean you always bring it back the. Food if you've
ever listened to this, show well at least it was a. Sandwich,
yes you know what that's all. About so for a

(01:17:28):
shocker for me to understand this right now when we
start to look at what's going on with this team
And Joe, burrow you Got Jamar, chase you paid uh
T higgins you have everything offensively that you could possibly.

Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
Want so they Got, Steward now why don't they just Pay?
Henderson now you.

Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
Got two really good ends and that THAT NFC, NORD
i MEAN afc.

Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
Nor you need everything for. That they about that division
and who's in it and how you have to fight
everything in every step of the. Way joe say, It
hey Sell.

Speaker 1 (01:18:10):
Joe For Mark Henry From, Marcus I'm Hardball. Harsh we
will have a feel good Football friday. Tomorrow we'll Talk
Dallas cowboys because we'll have our Guys Tommy yarsh joining.
Us we'll also Have Ann Parker coleman talking about high
school football and of course The Texas.

Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
Longhords For, Marcus I'm Harball Harts and just remember, this.

Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
Don't believe everything you, see because even salt looks like.

Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
