(02:10):
might even hear it on air. Let's get it to
the Masters. Because the Masters had so much drama and
it started on Thursday, all kinds of things were going on.
Rosie Justin Rose was in contention, he was leading. Then

(02:31):
all of a sudden, Rory makes his move, bracing to Shambeau.
My guy Scottie Scheffler was in the mix for a
minute and then all heck broke loose. But the drama
really started on number eighteen, where Rory McElroy had a
chance to submit history.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Going to a playoff, going to a playoff. That's right.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Justin Rose, who was in the mix, did everything he
possibly could to get there. And I want you to
remember this because in the very beginning it started on Wednesday,
the par three contest. Everybody that is out there brings

(03:42):
their kids, brings their families, brings their wives, and they
let them go out there and swing the golf club
because of the fact that if someone else besides yourself hits,
you're pretty much disqualified from winning the championship. And no
one who has ever won the part Our three contests
has ever won the Masters. So that's why they let

(04:05):
the families come out. That's why they let family members hit.
And it remembered, and I was reminded that Wednesday this happened.

(04:46):
Rory McElroy's daughter made a putt from like fifteen feet out,
just a little tap tap tap tap tap in all
the world was happy, but no one was happier than
Rory McElroy.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
After this putt went in turn her How for Roy?
How's his masterpiece?

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Arch? You have a daughter, so you know what I'm
about to say.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Having a daughter myself, we both know that the daughter
will say that her putt was better.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
As we do know it will happen.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Jersey, I guarantee it mine was better.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Dad.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, all she tells me everything she does is way
better than that.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
But what an unbelievable Sunday finish at the Masters.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Everyone was excited.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Everyone looked at this matchup I had posted yesterday, Good
versus Evil Live Tour versus PGA Tour. Bryson de Shambeau,
a guy who seemed to get a lot better throughout
his time away, right, and when he was in contention,
everybody was like, oh my goodness, Bryson, he looked good.

(06:31):
I dropped he dropped a bunch away because he used
to be one of those real muscle bound guys. Now
he's out there and he performed at an elite level.
But Rory McElroy finally finally gets over the hump, overcome
with emotion, and as you know as well as I do, Mark,
I watched your video yesterday someone that posted the video

(06:54):
of you becoming the world champion and how you did
beat Randy Orton to become the champion, and you could
just see the emotion on your face. Booker T was
commentating and I got a chance to look at it,
and it was just like, Oh, I know the work,
I know the grind, I know what you went through,
I know all the stories for you to become a champion.

(07:17):
And there's Rory right there joining that club of only
a few members, only a few members. And one of
the best things about it was, you know, you start
to look at the history of golf and how the
story was being told about him as a child and

(07:38):
how his family made sacrifices. Because everybody thinks that playing
golf you already got the money. If you're going to
be able to play golf, you've already got money. It's
an exclusive club for you to participate it. No, there's
processes to this thing, and not every player that has
ever picked up a golf club has been blessed to

(07:58):
be in a family that is a flowing with money,
you know what I'm saying. There, there's a lot of
people that they go get used golf clubs. They go
and find little sticks and things like that to practice
and find.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
A way to get better at it.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
And the Rory McElroy story is now becoming one of
those that everyone is truly, truly behind because he seems
to be a great guy.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah, I mean, you're you're one, right, And I always
joke around hard when I say I need a statue.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I want to I'm working for a statue, you know,
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
I know the the things that I've done in my
life are not gonna ever go away. And but Rory,
he's had a lot of success. Oh yeah, he just
got to the point where to get that green jacket.
He got there twice and failed. I mean like really close.

(08:58):
I mean he's competed in the Masters multiple times, a
dozen times, but to be second or third has this
really really really suck When you have a chance to
win and then you you you missed the put right,

(09:18):
and this time he didn't. And that's gonna live forever,
no doubt, Like they'll be talking about this another hundred
years from now.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
And of course, because of who he is and the
way that he's done it, the immortal company that he's
part of, he's now going to be recognized for the
rest of his life as a Master's Champion. But I
said good versus evil, PGA Tour versus Live Tour and
Bryce and de Shamba was asked if he and Rory

(09:48):
because Rory's been very vocal about all those guys that
played on the Live Tour in the very beginning, But
he was asked if he and Rory talked at all?

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Did you speak man? How's he doing today? No idea.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
It didn't talk to me once all day. Should you
try and initiate conversation with Rory at all?

Speaker 4 (10:06):
He wouldn't talk to me. Pettiness. I love it.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Pettiness at the fullest. Rory was like, here, your story walking.
You got still keep it moving, keep it pushing. But
I'm sure everybody went. Bryce into Shambeau made that first
birdie all whole number one, and he took the lead
after Rory did not. I was like, oh my goodness,

(10:34):
this is going to be something. But nonetheless, Ry McRoy
is your Master's Champion. He went and got that jacket,
and let me just say, I'm excited for him. I
even got my son to come and watch the final
playoff hole with me because we had just got back.
What an exciting, exciting time. But coming up next you

(10:56):
talk about a prodigy arch Manny is is he going
to be the villain of the SEC? I can't wait
to talk to Mark who what's once a villain? We'll
talk about it right here on the Morning Kickoff on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to
the Morning Kickoff right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen

(11:18):
hundred The Zone. In the next segment, I will give
my hard Knox life take on the situation in Tennessee.
For those that are wondering, Tennessee made a decision on Nico,
I'm gonna leave you and uh well, he got to
leave you.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
So we will discuss that a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
And to finish out our number one we will talk
about the new number one team in the country by
Baseball America.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
That's your Texas Longhorns.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
But right now we're going to talk about QB one
QB one arch Manning and being ready to take that job.
Ja as QB one arch Manning has been built for this.
He's been talked about multiple times. But I wanted to
ask this Mark because there was an article that was

(12:11):
written or talked about by Ryche Davis of college football
and Reeche Davis covers for ESPN. He does game Day,
a great, great follow and a good guy to.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Understand what he's got going on.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Right, Reese has been around this game, He's seen the game,
he knows the people that are involved in the game.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
And as the season this is how the story started.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
As the season gets closer, the hype surrounding Arch Manning
is bound to escalate. Davis suggested that Manning could become
the ultimate villain because some fans will end up appreciating
him even more while he experiences all of this stuff

(12:58):
as resentment.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
And this is in Fox News. So my question to
you Arch Manning obviously was hype.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
We talked about it. Everybody was saying, if he comes
in the game, leave Quinn out and let Arch go.
He's stopping us from winning a title.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
And I'm like, stop it.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Quinn is the better quarterback at this time, and we
were right, We've seen it, we've heard it. And the
other part about it, to me, Mark has always been
how all of a sudden do we go We trust
Sarking everything that he does, but then when it comes
to the quarterback position, everybody loses their mind and think

(13:39):
that he don't know what he's talking about when it
comes to the quarterback position.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
I have no clue.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
I've never understood that. And everybody starts somewhere and finishing somewhere.
Quinn's Quinn start was marred by, you know, injury or inaccuracy.
He's had several things that kind of went against him

(14:07):
being successful. Arch is gonna have it too, An, I'm
trying to. I remember Tim Tebow. He won two national championships,
right m and a Heisman Trophy. Do you remember how
they talked about him his first year because he threw
the same amount of.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Touchdowns as he did interceptions, and he was sharing time
with Chris Leek and and everybody was like, ah man,
we need to move on from this guy.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
He just throws too many interceptions. What is gonna be
Archer's thing? What's gonna be the nemesis? Is he gonna fumble?
Is he gonna is he gonna throw it to the
other team? Is he gonna try to go for the
deep ball every time? Because he's got a strong arm, Like,
there's gonna be something and it's gonna make everybody a

(15:00):
angry yep, And so I'm just saying, like temper the
he's going to be the best ever, the best in
the world.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
I hope.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
So for our yeah, yeah, I don't expect it this year.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
I expect him to play good, get to the football playoff,
and anything can happen.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
So let me ask you this and again, hype great.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
The moment you saw him outstanding, there were playoff to play.
As you said last week, what quarterback you know is
gonna run twenty two miles an hour? You know, you
start thinking about all of these things that Quinn brings
the intalent and tangibles about. But Quinn also understand I
mean Quinn arch also understands what it is to play

(15:53):
quarterback at the University of Texas.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
You come in with a lot of hype. You don't
just come to the Universe of Texas as just a guy.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
University of Texas at one point was recruiting four and
five star quarterbacks that had a lot of success in
their past. But there's also challenges that comes into playing
at an elite level of Division one football. You're playing

(16:24):
in the SEC. A lot of people always kept saying
the SEC. There's some of these SCC teams could beat
the worst team in the NFL. Stop it, stop it.
Don't put that out there. But the thing about it is,
there is going to be some struggle. There is going
to be some challenges. There is going to be mistakes made.

(16:46):
And then are you gonna sit on the bench, Not
arch but are you gonna sit up in the stands
and on the benches and scring Put in Trey Owens,
put in put in kJ Lacy.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
Are you doing all that? Yeah, That's what I'm saying, Like,
let the man come out here. Yes, he's going to have.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Some spectacular moments, but he's also gonna have some moments
where you're like, what is he doing?

Speaker 2 (17:14):
He's also got to understand you can't get it all
at once. Agreed, That's the number one thing that I
hope Archie gets this year over last year. Even in
the Ohio State game, he came in, ye had a
couple of packages wearing misdirection. The quarterback runs the ball
and he got hit and he said, he put it ahead,

(17:35):
do not leave with your head right because I think
he got his bill run.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
He did. He did.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
He talked about he said, yeah, do hit.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Me hard, do hit me real hard, and you cannot
do that because Trey Owins will get reps. So like
he's gonna have to learn. There's a lot that he's
got to learn. People think that, oh, he's got it,
he's been sitting behind Quinn that no, you need game time.
You know, I talked about that with Jacob making the

(18:03):
team at Oklahoma. Jacob still needs to know all the plays,
but he can't tell everybody else word to line up.
He barely knows where to line up himself, right. But
when he does, and the same thing with Arch, when
Arch knows in every situation what he needs to.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Do, then you got something different.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Then you got a national championship quarterback where everybody knows, well,
we're not gonna be able to stop them on offense.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
We just got to hope that our offense can score
with him.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
Right, right.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
And you know, for me, you start to look at
this team and you say, okay, listen, how are you
going to be able to make this happen in a positive,
positive way for him? Well, what you do is you
make sure that he's in the right system. Sorry, because
gonna get him right is not gonna put him in

(19:01):
harm's way. Because he didn't put Quinn in Harm's way.
He's gonna put him in a position to be successful
as his talents let him be. The thing about Arch
that changes the entire dynamic is his intangibles.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Arch can run.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
He's a big bodied guy. As you said, don't put
your head down slide when you get an opportunity to stay,
get out of get out of bounds when you have
those opportunities. But what he can do is extend plays
for the big play down the field. Let's not forget
when Art, when Quinn first got here, the first thing

(19:39):
we saw was him throw a deep pass to Isaiah
and a or and we were.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Like, Quinn gonna be dropping them bombs on people. Oh yeah, Well.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Then it changed, and then it things changed. Things changed.
Find the offense that works well for you. Find the
offense that coach Shark sees well. And don't forget about
your running game back.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
There exactly your compliment and the complimentary pieces around you.
Do not forget that they have got to run the
ball so successfully that when Arch does throw yep, everybody's
already behind exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
So this is what it's all about. This is why
I get excited about this whole thing.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
But as far as him.

Speaker 4 (20:27):
Being the villain.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Every fan base hates every quarterback that comes in from
somewhere else, from somewhere else. I mean, we didn't like
to attack of a law when he was at Alabama.
We didn't like Bryce Young when he was at Alabama.
It just happens, That's what it's all about. But speaking
of not being liked, player in Tennessee has now decided

(20:52):
it is time to move on.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
Did Tennessee do the right thing? I say yes?

Speaker 4 (20:58):
What say you?

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Coming back right here on the morning kickoff on sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Okay, welcome back to
the morning Kickoff, And this says, I'm going to give
you a dose of positivity. I don't know how much
positivity I truly have here, Mark Henry uh uh Marcus,

(21:24):
I just don't know how much positivity I can truly
have in this situation. On Friday, before we left for
the weekend, I talked about Nico I'm Olivia, the quarterback
of the Tennessee Volunteers, wanting to hold out for contract negotiations.

(21:47):
Nico threw for twenty six hundred yards last year, nineteen
touchdowns only through five interceptions, while rushing for three hundred
and fifty eight yards and three more rushing touchdowns. He
started every game for Tennessee last year, leading his team
to its first birth in the College Football Playoffs. He

(22:09):
started the Citrus Bowl in twenty three and was named
MVP and done some amazing things. When he was coming
out of high school, his top five universities was Oregon, Georgia,
Alabama in Miami, but eventually he decided to go to Tennessee.

(22:33):
Great choice for Tennessee, great choice for Nico, and an
opportunity for him to get himself to the next level.
And when I say next level, I'm talking about NFL.
You're learning under Josh Heipel. The offense is set up
for you to be successful, and lets be honest, you

(22:55):
need to.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
Be that guy.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Multiple sources indicated that his current contract, which was a
three year deal which he's not in year three yet,
was somewhere between two point two to two point five
million dollars, a jump from the initial three year plan
that was reported in twenty twenty two. At one point,

(23:20):
he was the highest paid quarterback in the nation, but
then's stories started to come out that he wanted more money.
He went behind the coach's back well his father did
it was shot him around to kind of find out, Hey,

(23:42):
what's gonna happen if my son gets.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
In a portal and he wants this much money.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Just like the kid at.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
UNLV, the coaching staff and everybody involved decided, I'm done.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
I don't want anything else to do with this situation.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
I don't want any of this because each year it
will set a precedent for every kid to continue to
come in and negotiate.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
The deals that they really truly wanted.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Before we hear from Mario Crystobaal and ironically enough, the
baseball coach Tony Vottello of Tennessee, who showed you that
they back each other in this scenario. I want to
read this list starting at eight, Austin Mack, four star quarterback.

(24:44):
This is in the class of twenty twenty three. By
the way, all the quarterbacks this what I'm about to
read off are all the class of twenty twenty three.
Austin Mack went to Washington now he's at Alabama. Eight
and Childs was number seventh ranked quarterback. Started at Oregon State.

(25:06):
Now he's at Michigan State. Jadeen Roshata remember him, he
was a guy that just like Nico was trying to
negotiate every step of the way. Went from Arizona State
to now he's in the portal. Malachi Nelson was the
number five quarterback, went to USC. Five star quarterback, went

(25:28):
to USC. Now he's playing for the UTEP Miners. Jackson
Arnold Denton Geyer five star quarterback. Oh U was supposed
to be the Savior. Now he's at Auburn. Dante Moore
big time quarterback from the state of Michigan. He originally

(25:48):
went to UCLA. He's now at Oregon. Nico i'm olivia
was number two one hundred percent rating, number two quarterback
in the twenty twenty three class.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Went from Tennessee. Now he's in the portal.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
The number one quarterback in the twenty twenty three class
was Arch Manning. He is the only quarterback that is
at the same school that he originally signed with.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
It's a good day to be a Longhorn, I tell
you what.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
So now you start to look at all of these
scenarios that are out there, and for everybody that wants
to talk about the NCAA and how they're being responsible
for this, I think it's more than just the NCAA.
I think it's more of the coaches deciding we're not

(26:42):
doing this anymore. We're not going to continue to play
this game of I want to pay this quarterback two
million dollars. I want to pay this guy three million dollars.
What I want to make sure that everybody understands is
your work is what you feel and what you think
somebody is going to give you. You may think you're

(27:03):
worth five million, but if I'm only giving you three,
that's what I see it is. And if you want
to hold out, go hold out somewhere else, because that
money is allocated for so many other people. So if
you're coming back into me, Mark and saying I'm worth
five million to me, and you have already negotiated what
you are and when you said signed the deal and

(27:25):
you shook hands signed deals, all that stuff, don't come
back to me next year because I'm trying to get you.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
More players to be on your team.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Because you talk about the Dak Prescott effect, right, this
is the Dak Prescott effect for some people.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Dak is making all this money.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
We can't go get the players that we want, Okay,
but you negotiated that, you signed that and that's where
you are because you thought that's where you needed to be.
What Nico has been able to do on this side
has created a huge problem in Mario Cristobal. I think
he said it best.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
We're not going to do it at Miami, and I
say that without any hesitation.

Speaker 6 (28:07):
You know, if anyone's thinking that, and they could be
the best player in the world, that they want to
play Hotel.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
They might as well play get out. You don't want
to do that. We don't want Miami to become that.

Speaker 6 (28:16):
Too many guys have sweated and bled and have laid
on the line on that field to ever become that.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Kind of before year.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
And not only that, Tony Botello said it in baseball
as well. He's not playing that game either, and he's
backing the coach for Tennessee.

Speaker 7 (28:31):
And while I'm at it, anybody that's thinking about visiting
our place that we're recruiting, and you think this is
a place you can come and have your hand out
and see how much money we can give you, don't
waste our time and don't waste your time either.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
Keep it moving. We're gonna recruit the kids that want
to play baseball. We're gonna want the kids to play football.
Same thing here at the University of Texas. You're coming
to this university. Don't ask how much money you're gonna get.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
Earn the money. What happened with Arch many What does
family say?

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Hey, man, you did that?

Speaker 3 (29:01):
What'd your family say? He said, don't.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
We're not gonna get any nil until I become the starter.
I'm the starter now now he's getting an il deals.
There's processes. Man, Quit trying to shop your kid around
and try to jump around when if he's NFL ready,
get him to the NFL, keep him there, let him play,
and then go and make your money.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Go ahead, hard.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Coming up, we're gonna talk about the number one team
in the country.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
That's right, your Texas Longhorns baseball team right here on
the morning kick off AM thirteen hundreds.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Coming up in the top of the hour.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
We will go into the NBA and all things NBA
as teams get ready for the playoffs. We talked about
the Masters, We also talked about Arch Manning, and just
talked Tennessee volunteers. But right now I want to give
you an opportunity to win a pair of tickets to
go see Jason Aldean August the sixteenth at the Moody Center.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
All you got to do is leave the word for
the day, and the word of the day is Big.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Tap the red microphone on that iHeartRadio app and get
a chance to win a pair of tickets to go
see Jason Aldean August the sixteenth at the Moody Center.
Also want to give a shout out to these local
teams that captured state championships. Austin achieved in for A

(30:34):
Division two boys, Salado in for A Division one boys,
Cedar Park girls in five A. They are state champions.
Liberty Hill became a state champion as well in Division
five Division two five A boys as Liberty Hill wins

(30:54):
because of a forfeit Dallas Highland Park Shocker used in
an eligible player. I want to give a shout out
to Austin vandergriff as they won the six A Division
two boys championship. They are state champion. And I want
to give a shout out to Lake Travis Girls six
A coming in runner up. But I also I want

(31:15):
to give a shout out to the Texas baseball team
as they won their eleventh series already this year, and
of course they are now, not of course, but they
are now the number one team.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
In the nation.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
And dating back to last year.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Danny Davis of the Austin American Statesman, you can hear
him on Wednesday, he said that Texas has won thirteen
straight series. Eleven of those series became coming Big twelve
and SEC play. They going back to the beginning of
this year, though I wanted to say, they won the
series against Mississippi State, sweeping them.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
They won the LSU series two games.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Welcome back to our number two of the morning kickoff
right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred, the Zone
and our number one. We talked about Rory and his
quest to get jacket number four, not number four, but
you know he made the Grand Slam. We also talked
about arch Manning, did the volunteers do the right thing?

(32:18):
And of course Texas Baseball maybe the number one team
in the country. Mike Harballharts here joined by the world's
strongest man in WWE Hall of Famer d Mark Henry,
and now let's get into it. All the talk is over.
It's all time for ring chasing begins right now. And Mark,

(32:39):
this is that time of year where everything is everything.
You've been waiting for the moment. You know what it's
the situation is going to be, but now it's time
to get after it. And the number one seed overall
is going to be the Cleveland Cavaliers, the thunder they
win the West, but that doesn't even her now. The

(33:01):
playing games start on the fifteenth tomorrow night, and of
course the playoffs begin on the nineteenth. But there the
matchups are the matchups. And what I mean by that
is in the East, the Bulls get to play the
Heat in the playing game, the Magic get to play
the Hawks in the playing game. The Kings and the

(33:22):
Mavericks both are in the playing game, and the Warriors
and the Grizzlies forty eight and thirty four both teams
in the playing games. It is an unbelievable time in
the NBA.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Man, I always look forward to this time of year. People.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
I think the play in system ended up being a
lot better than I thought it was going to be.
I thought it was going to be kind of you
know who hum, but it ended up being just like
last night. Last night was actually the first playoff game,
like to see Golden State and.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
The Clippers go at it the way that they went
at it.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
It added to this whole play in philosophy, and I
think they were gonna get more of that tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Yeah, and that to me, you talk about these games
that were played yesterday, final games of the season. Guys
have decided to you know what, you say, go to camp,
go to Galveston. A lot of people going to Galveston,
and now it is time for them to make that move.
But you look at what happened yesterday, and the only
reason why this game really stands out to me is

(34:31):
because the MAVs and the Grizzlies played yesterday. And I
know that the MAVs tried to rest some guys. I
get that, and there were some guys that didn't play.
But you start to look at this game and you
got beat one thirty two to ninety seven going into
the playoffs. If you're a Dallas Maverick fan, and I

(34:52):
know MAVs fans could care less right about now. I
was with a couple of them this past weekend. And
there's talent on this team, but they're still missing Luca.
And the thought process is are they going to be
able to swim their way out of this?

Speaker 3 (35:09):
And I don't see it.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
I don't know if that's the case, I don't know
if like what you're saying with your friends, you was
with the people as as the whole of Dallas. Dallas,
They're going to be in the playoffs, so why would
you go out there and let your starters wear themselves out?
The same thing with the Lakers, all the teams that

(35:31):
really was there already and they couldn't make it any better.
You just rest your people and and you know, we
talk about gamesmanship in sports all the time. You know,
I saw the games ship yesterday. There was there was
my daughter wrestled, and there was a girl that said, no,

(35:55):
I forfeit because that would have been a hard match
for her, and she would rather take the forfeit loss
and go against somebody that she knows she could beat
in the next round and try to advance and hope
that my daughter lost, which didn't happen, but that was
that's something that's gamesmanship. You gotta you gotta be able

(36:17):
to think too. You can't just go exert yourself all
the time.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Well, I still believe that you gotta have some kind
of rhythm going into the playoffs as well, And for
a team that doesn't have a lot of two games,
not together, not together, not to you haven't played You
played eighty two games on the season, but you haven't
played them all.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Together, so the chemistry is totally different.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Well, Anthony Dallas, Yeah, in Dallas, they haven't played together.
And and I understand you got to preserve Anthony Davis
because we call him street close, but he's got to
be able to play within his teammates as well, because
if these are one win games, right, like, you have
to win this game to get the next game. So

(37:01):
right now, the Kings and the Mavericks will play each
other and the winner will play the loser of the
seven to eight matchup with the Warriors and the Grizzlies.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
So before you.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Can even get into the playoffs, you gotta win two games,
right And so it's just I don't know, don't I
don't agree with certain teams being able to.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Sit guys out. Yeah, because this is the NBA.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
Man.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
All these dudes are really really good. Even the ones
we say suck are really good.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
They really good. Whatever happened to the philosophy? Look, we
need to go out there and put a twenty five
point you know, lead, and.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Then go swing.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Yeah, and that's what Mephis did in this game one
hundred and thirty two to ninety seven. I mean, that's
when you go and you can sit a John Moran.
You could go sit some of these other guys that
are in there. But if you look at the seedings
and how it's all set up, the four and the
five matchup in the East is the Pacers and the Bucks.
The four to five matchup in the West is the

(38:06):
Nuggets and the Clippers. Three six in the West, Lakers Timberwolves.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
Three six.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
In the East, you have the Knicks and the Pistons.
So those in the middle are going to be some great,
great series. When you sit back and think about it,
you look at what the Clippers and how they were
able to fight yesterday in that matchup, it was it
went to overtime, and you're gonna tell me, Kawhi Leonard

(38:33):
and those guys they could have set out they were
already in the playoffs, but they went out there and
played because they wanted a different seeding and a different
matchup going into the game. So here's Steph Curry and
those guys. Now they gotta play in a seven to
eight matchup against a team like the Memphis Grizzlies, who

(38:57):
they gangster with it.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
I would want them to play an extra game.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
I'm yeah, I'm going all out in that case because
I want them to have to be in the playoffs.
That way, you know, you come even if I do
play them again, I know they got more tread on
the tires.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
But but I got a question for you.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
What happens? You know, I always hate the what if,
but you know, h what if the Bucks lose? What
do you do with that team?

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Now?

Speaker 3 (39:32):
What what do you mean with Damon Lillard?

Speaker 2 (39:35):
And Janni's already said that I want to win. I'm
tired of like just playing to be playing. But that's
the thing. It's like, I want to win and understand
that you're already a world champion. Like, there's a lot
of people Dame Lillard is not a world champion. You
are so like, I don't, I don't. I don't understand

(39:55):
his I understand being a.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
Team is what he's doing.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
That's what I'm like, bro, Like, you're the one who
wanted to get rid of your coaching staff. You're the
one that wanted to make changes. You're the one that
wanted to get rid of the team that led you
to the championship. You're the one that busted everything up
because you wanted to be that superstar with the the
magic wand to do what you want.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
That's on you, dog that a lot of this stuff
is on you.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
You can't go out there and now all of a
sudden you get rid of your running mates, and now
you get a Dame Lillard and it ain't working out,
and now you want one of y'all gotta go. I mean,
you did this, man, and you realize that sometimes you
need to stay in your lane and just do your job. Wow,
you don't need to You don't always have to be

(40:43):
the one you don't know everything.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Strike me.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
I'm not a shut up in dribble, but I'm not
a guy that believes.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
That everybody's qualified to be a general man. Exactly.

Speaker 1 (40:54):
There's people in those positions for a reason. Just because
you play don't mean you the best.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
And you know everything.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
We've seen it with Lebron, We've seen the changes that
have happened throughout history. Sometimes you just go out there
and hoop and be the best teammate that you could be.
Be a clubhouse leader, but make sure everybody levels upright.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
Not go into the I don't want this guy. I
wanted another guy.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
What you don't know that guy's history just because y'all friends.
You don't know what he does afterwards. You don't know
his dedication to the game. You just see the results.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
I think the biggest mistakes the Bucks made was letting
the guard go holiday go to Boston.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
He ran him out.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
Yanna should have did everything he could do to keep him.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
Those are the types of things that I continue to say.

Speaker 1 (41:46):
Sometimes you just need to do what you are blessed
to do, and that is hit a baseball, dunk on somebody, body,
slam somebody.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
Whatever it run down.

Speaker 4 (42:01):
What you do, what you do.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
You can still be the best teammate. You don't have
to be all up in the front office. Be right there,
be within your group, and make sure that your team
every single day gets better and better. If you had
to pick a champion right now, who is your champion?

Speaker 2 (42:20):
I would say Boston. Boston look good, man. They don't
have a real weakness other than depth at center, and
the guys that they have at center, you know they
they can spell you. You got a seven foot small forward,
so you have them three.

Speaker 3 (42:36):
So you're picking Boston over your Lakers.

Speaker 4 (42:39):
I would pick Boston over the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
Do the Lakers Are they playing cham Are those are
your two teams in the championship. I'm going with the
Nuggets and I'm going with Boston again. And I like
Boston because, as you said, this is a team that
is locked in. This is a team that understands their
roles on this team. The one thing that worries me

(43:06):
the most about Boston they love to shoot the three porter,
and that three porter can give it and it can
take it away. Yeah, exactly. So soon enough we'll find
out if this is going to hold true. You got
Lakers in Boston, I've got Nuggets in Boston. So we

(43:26):
are on the same page when it comes to Boston.
Everything else we can try to work through. Coming up next,
we're gonna have a conversation about the NFL Draft. Derek
Carr is hurt and does this mean that they are
gonna take a quarterback?

Speaker 5 (43:42):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (43:43):
Shit door Now we'll.

Speaker 1 (43:45):
Talk about it right here on the morning kickoff on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to
the morning kickoff right here on sports radio AM thirteen
hundred The Zone. The NFL Draft is just over a
week and a half a way, we will have a
more information about where we will be for the NFL Draft,

(44:06):
But let's just say we're gonna have a lot of
fun once again. Last year was outstanding and we want
to be a part of it again. Just remember that
the Texas Longhorns. Texas Longhorns had fourteen guys that were
in the combine this year, a record for the University
of Texas, and they might have a record draft. But

(44:29):
I wanted to talk about the New Orleans Saints because
some news came out that could, I don't know, jeopardize
the Saints season. News came out that Derek Carr is
dealing with a shoulder injury and it could put the
twenty twenty five season in jeopardy. I'm not sure exactly

(44:53):
what that means. They did not give to the extent
of it all.

Speaker 3 (44:57):
Or what it might be.

Speaker 1 (44:58):
But I look at this New ord Land Saints team,
and if you're a Saints fan, I totally understand it.
There is a lot to unwrap when it comes to
the Saints, But you look at this team.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
Derek Carr tough guy, been there, done that.

Speaker 1 (45:14):
The backup quarterback Spencer Rattler Jake Hayner and Ben Danucci
for uls Cowboy fans. You know who Ben Danucci, Danugi.
But I look at this team and I try to understand.
Are they trying to tank? Are they trying to get

(45:35):
after it? Are they trying to get their quarterback for
the future. Is this a situation where a whole lot
of nothing means something or is this something that is
truly truly a tough decision for the New Orleans Saints.
Do you go out and draft a quarterback with your

(45:57):
number nine pick? You got number not Kellen Moore, your
new head coach. Quarterback coach went to watch Shador Sanders
and his private workouts. He's seen a lot of these quarterbacks.
He was here at Texas's pro day. Aldo he was
looking at that. Maybe he goes against Quinn, not at

(46:18):
the number nine spot, not at the number nine spot.
But I'm just curious with this news. Do you go
a quarterback, do you go wide receiver? Do you go defense?

Speaker 3 (46:29):
What is your move at this pit?

Speaker 2 (46:33):
I go quarterback, Jackson Dark He'll be on the board
because I'm gonna tell you right now, hard everybody keeps saying, oh, Shad,
he's gonna fall Shadure Sanders is not gonna the Giants.
They will have a mass exodust in their fans if
they don't pick him. It's gonna be a mistake that

(46:54):
they don't want to have a say Quin Barkley level
death come one problem like they did last year. Do
the right thing by the franchise. Don't do the right
thing because you think, oh, this is what my opinion
of who we need is his. The Giants, they they

(47:16):
made picks based off the the video game. Hard I'm
trying my business keep I compose you. You're gonna make
your billion dollar franchise off what people think.

Speaker 4 (47:35):
On the video game. That's that's bad business. You can't
do that again.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
So you're saying that the Shador Sanders gone.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
He getting drafted by the Giants, And Dion said it
before the season started, and you and I just looked
at each other, like, how can he say it? He said,
there was only about four or five franchises that I
want Sdure to play for.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
Anyway.

Speaker 1 (48:08):
Well, here's the thing. The DraftKings odds as of today
has Shador Sanders going to the New Orleans Saints at
minus one ten. As of Sunday night, draft Kings listed
Shador going to the Saints as minus one ten.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
The SAME's sting to play as hard where they have
to get a quarterback, especially if Derek Carr has damaged
goods and he would be out for But they have
some rattler. So here here, here's another rattler. King beat
a lot of college teams. He's not a great quarterback.
We watched him play in person against ut when he

(48:48):
was at Oklahoma and he got very, very lucky. You're
gonna rely You're gonna rely on a quarterback that got lucky.

Speaker 5 (48:57):
No, I won't.

Speaker 4 (48:58):
I'm gonna draft somebody that's good, draft nobody that's lucky.

Speaker 3 (49:03):
Well, they already have him, so he's already there.

Speaker 1 (49:06):
So he played last year. He was in the system already.
But my point of this is how are how are
they going to adjust in this situation because there's also
rumors that are out there that they may try to
tank by letting this happen and try to go get

(49:27):
arch Manning. Arch Manning coming up as the draft pick
in twenty twenty six. That's the thing that you continue.

Speaker 4 (49:35):
To hear and you're like, oh, so you're saying they're
gonna tank for Tua.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
They tanking, They're gonna they're gonna have They're gonna use
the fact that the quarterback that they have right now.

Speaker 4 (49:49):
Who we saw play and we know he's not good
as the scapegoat. You saying that the.

Speaker 2 (49:59):
You realize what you're saying. I know exactly what I'm saying.
That that organization is putting all their eggs in one basket.
They want the hometown boy, and they are willing to suffer,
and they're willing to have their fans suffer, and they're
willing to lose money for a year, parking, concessions, tickets,

(50:22):
everything so they could get one player.

Speaker 1 (50:25):
You think that, you think that they're they're gonna lose
that much. And the fans of New Orleans are not
gonna go see the New Orleans Saints.

Speaker 4 (50:33):
That's all they got.

Speaker 3 (50:34):
They're gonna show up.

Speaker 1 (50:36):
They ain't gonna be happy, they might have bags on
their head again, but they're gonna be there. And Spencer
Rattler is not that terrible. He may not be great,
but he's in the NFL and he is playing quarterback.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
He is the NFL quarterback. I got it, That's all I.

Speaker 4 (50:52):
Can give you.

Speaker 1 (50:53):
Yeah, he is an NFL quarterback and he's gonna get
an opportunity.

Speaker 3 (50:57):
To uh to play at a high level. But my
my big question is.

Speaker 4 (51:02):
This, what can this team?

Speaker 3 (51:05):
What can this team be able to do to get
better and better and better? Those are the types of
things that I continue to try to One.

Speaker 2 (51:14):
Saints need to get younger on defense. They got some
old guys over there. They need to develop. If you're
gonna say well we gonna tank this year, well get
that offensive line ready, yep. Trade all your valuable pieces
and try to upgrade your offensive line to where it

(51:35):
is a super offensive line. So if Arch does end
up being the next and the air parent that he has,
he steps right in there with the ultimate protection right
like so like, it's a lot to be said when
you do stuff like your suggestion.

Speaker 1 (51:55):
I no, if I'm a general manager, I don't want
to do that. I'm just saying to do that. I'm
not saying that's what I want to do. What I'm
saying is there has been discussions. That's what the word
is out there that they are looking.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
Yeah, it ain't my thoughts. It's not my thoughts on me, Ricky, Bobby,
don't put that on me.

Speaker 1 (52:19):
I want I wanted to be clear that there has
been conversation about these types of thought processes to make
those things happen.

Speaker 3 (52:29):
I don't believe in it.

Speaker 4 (52:31):
I don't believe that that's the case.

Speaker 1 (52:33):
I do believe that the situation with his arm, Derek
Carr's arm at this particular moment, it is something that
is very rare that we've waited this long in the
off season to find out that somebody is having arm problems.
Because let's not forget many camps are going to start
right after the draft. O tas are going to start sooner.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
I have surge on both my shoulders, right. It took
me eight months to come back. He's gonna miss the season.

Speaker 1 (53:07):
Unless it's a scope or something like that. He's not
reconstructing it. But again, all they're saying is he's had
an arm injury and it could be put his season
in jeopardy for twenty twenty five, twenty six. And for
that to be even part of the conversation, is that

(53:27):
a smoke screen for something else.

Speaker 4 (53:31):
They gave him.

Speaker 1 (53:31):
They restructured his contract, turned some of his salary and
his roster bonus into a bonus, so he got paid money.

Speaker 4 (53:42):
Oh my God, now you're laying it out. This ain't
look take this money. Be quiet. This is what we're doing. Yeah,
I can see that. Oh my gosh. Yeah, oh man,
this is not good.

Speaker 6 (53:59):
Hard not.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
If you're a New Orleans fan you're listening right now,
you might want to start causing the stink because your
team fin a tank for Tua right.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
Well, but here's the deal. If you're taking for Tua,
who is Tua?

Speaker 1 (54:14):
You're assuming let's just say that Tua is Arch Many
Let's just say it's archball Arch.

Speaker 3 (54:19):
But here's the deal.

Speaker 1 (54:21):
Arch has another year of eligibility if he say, I
want to play at the University of Jesus.

Speaker 3 (54:28):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (54:29):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (54:30):
So there's so many layers this.

Speaker 1 (54:33):
Yes, go out there and win the game like you're
supposed to, and that's how things will go.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
Coming up next, we got the.

Speaker 1 (54:39):
World's Strongest Man bringing you his world's strongest take right
here on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen
hundred the Zohn.

Speaker 3 (54:47):
You heard that beat drop and you know what that means.

Speaker 1 (54:50):
WWE Hall of Famer and the world's Strongest Man, d
Mark Henry brings you his world's strongest take Take.

Speaker 4 (54:59):
It away, big fa right, Yes, you know what.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
It's time for the world's strongest take by the world's
strongest man. My gosh, back then they didn't know me.
Now I'm hot, they all own man. Guys, I know
you ain't expecting this, but this is a reality. Our guy,

(55:24):
Ry McElroy is now a member of the Grand Slam franchise.
He is a he is a He's in the club.
Once in, you're always in. I'm gonna give you a

(55:44):
description of what the definition for the Grand Slam. It's
not an official term, but a player can be sidered
considered to hold a Grand Slam if you win one
of the four majors, the Masters, the US Open, the
Open Championships, and the PGA Championships, and Tiger Woods is

(56:11):
the closest person to getting it all in a calendar year.
But I don't believe that that really matters. I mean,
as long as you do it over your career and
you joined that club, that's that's the ultimate. I mean,
there's only six golfers that made that, and that's Gene Strawson,

(56:37):
Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicholas, Tiger Woods and now.

Speaker 4 (56:43):
Rory McElroy. It came down to it, Harge.

Speaker 2 (56:48):
I know you watched, and when Justin Rose made his
final approach, I went, oh, man, Rory lost.

Speaker 4 (56:59):
And God but Rory came right back and made a shot.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
That you can only describe it as a walk off
home run. I mean that shot was four feet away
from the pen and it didn't help nothing that Justin
Rose he felt that pressure that Rory has felt all

(57:32):
these years.

Speaker 4 (57:34):
Eleven years ago. You remember, Rory had a shot and
what happened. The pressure hit him. This time, when the
pressure hit him, he was equipped for it. It's experienced.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
And of course Rose didn't make the shot, but Rory did.
And you saw the emotion, the raw emotion and of
him going down to his knees and weeping. It wasn't
a crime. It wasn't the tears falling like man I
did it. It was thank you God.

Speaker 4 (58:12):
The pressure is off, the failure is gone away.

Speaker 2 (58:19):
And he weeped and you could see him physically convulsion,
like just moving.

Speaker 4 (58:25):
It was I mean, I don't see any weakness in crime.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
I know I'm a big old guy, big old guy, right,
but I've cried, and I've cried for Hell.

Speaker 4 (58:38):
I cried in a Disney movie before. I think we
all have. I think this Disney know how to touch
our heart.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Yes, but weeping happens when you have overcome something, when
something is raised up off of you. And I feel like,
you know, for all the years that everybody keeps saying, oh,
here we go again, Rory fell and again.

Speaker 4 (59:04):
That's off his back.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
Now, I think that from now on, Rory McElroy is
gonna be a better golfer than we already have him at.

Speaker 4 (59:15):
I mean, he's only thirty five.

Speaker 2 (59:18):
You would think that as long as he's been around
that he's you know, middle forties, late forties. Yeah, he's
still a young man. And I think that the Rory
we're gonna get in the next year might be a
guy that could get that first. Now that the pressure

(59:41):
is off him, the monkey is off his back, I
think that we can get the Rory where you get
all of the majors in one caliber year. What's say you, Well,
as we talked.

Speaker 1 (59:56):
About to open the show, I mean, he is definitely
one of the best to do it because he's in
immortality now. I mean like you can't take that, you
can't take that away. And as you said, you know,
you mentioned Tiger and Tiger congratulated him on social media.
I wish that as it was happening, I wish that

(01:00:17):
Tiger would have been there because they're boys and they've
they've done a lot of things together. They've got that
indoor facility where they've been playing these games, and it's
pretty cool to see the relationship. But he said, welcome
to the club. Roy McElroy. Completing the Grand Slam in
Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round and

(01:00:39):
this entire journey has shown that you have shown through
and now you're a part of history. I'm so proud
of you. Those are the types of moments that you
look at. I said this, I posted this before Sunday.
I said good versus evil, PGA tour versus tour because

(01:01:01):
originally it was Bryson de Shamba that he was up against.
Then Justin Rose made his approach and made a hell
of a run. To be quite honest with you, but
you look at ya, but you look at what Rory
has meant and the emotion, the elation. You talked about
the pressure being off his back, but I think it
was that emotion of putting on a master's jacket as

(01:01:24):
good as he's been, he's never had that, He's never
put on that jacket.

Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
And he got so close.

Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
He failed, right, and so the whole Redemption Tour and
you look at what Justin Rose was able to do
and who he is as a golfer. You you, I
was shocked that he was back in it, to be
quite honest with you, because Rosie normally fades. But for
Rory McElroy to get that Master's jacket, to be part

(01:01:52):
of that elusive, elusive club. You went through the list
of names, but the last one was Tiger Woods.

Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
So for him to be able to get that and.

Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
Not succumb to the pressure, but you can see he
was nervous, he was he was rattled.

Speaker 3 (01:02:10):
He really wanted that. But again got back to that,
got back to him.

Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
Yeah, he's a special, special player and I'm happy for
him because he is one of the good ones that
on the surface we see great tag by the world's
strongest man. We're gonna close up the show and send
you to Dan Patrick. But did you know that there
is a draft that's coming up, and I believe I

(01:02:37):
know the number one pick. That's right, we'll talk about
it right here. On the Morning Kickoff on Sports Radio
AM thirteen hundred The Zonge. What a great show we've
had here on the Morning Kickoff Longhorns Monday edition of
The Morning Kickoff. I wanted to talk about the w
NBA Draft, But before we get into the w NBA Draft,

(01:02:59):
I want to talk about Bill Shoning. Bill Shoning is
the voice of the San Antonio Spurs, and yesterday he
called his last Spurs basketball game. For those that didn't know,
Bill Shoning has decided to retire and time to walk

(01:03:21):
away from the NBA and just kind of do his
own thing. He also makes music. He's done some really
really cool things in his life. But being the voice
of the Spurs, I know it was something that he
really cherished. He was the voice of the Texas Longhorns
for quite some time, and he and our guy Craig

(01:03:43):
Way partnered and was an analyst together. Bill was the
play by play and Craig was the analyst. Well then
he removed himself from Texas Athletics, went to the NBA,
Craig Way becomes the voice of the Longhorns, and the
rest is history for both of those guys. And Mark,

(01:04:04):
you and I were talking during the break and Bill
shooning is a what do you call it? A treasure
to hear him commentate on the Spurs game. You said
it sucks now that he's gonna be walking away from
it and you being back as a Spurs fan again. No,
you never left him just playing, but being back with

(01:04:26):
the Spurs and getting a chance to be around the squad,
He's gonna definitely be missed.

Speaker 4 (01:04:33):
Harje.

Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
It's hard for me to even talk too much about
this because I really love Bill.

Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
Bill Is. We talk on the phone like Bill is
a good dude.

Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
Every time I go to San Antonio Is Like I
called Bill and let him know, hey, man, I'm on
my way. What you're doing, Like he's man introduced me
to George Gervin, Like I mean, it was a bunch
of things that happened and relationship wise, and to see
him all this time.

Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Finally hang it up.

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
I'm happy for him because I know he's not being
pushed away. He's going away because he wants to see
the world. He wants to relax with his family and
be around his kids and all the stuff that you know,
we we aspire to be one day. You already you're

(01:05:29):
already a grandparent. You know, you're you're you're tend you know,
fifteen years ahead of me, you know. But like Bill
is one of those guys that values that in treasure
that and wants to.

Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
Do more of those activities. And I you know, I'm
happy for him.

Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
I'm not my selfishess selfishness and wanting to hear him
call hear him call games.

Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
I'm gonna have to put that aside. Yeah, poor I
mean poor Bill. Good for Bill.

Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
I'm glad that he now gets a chance to relax
and enjoy life to the fullest. Another guy that might
be relaxing and enjoying life to the fullest is one
Chris Paul. Chris Paul met with the fans and the
media right after the game and talked about his time
in San Antonio.

Speaker 8 (01:06:23):
What changed for you guys in that last twenty four minutes.

Speaker 6 (01:06:25):
Mitch Challenge doesn't have time, you know, regardless not making
the playoffs, this is our last home game, and these
fans deserved to see us play hard.

Speaker 8 (01:06:35):
It's the first time you've played all eighty two games
in ten years. How much have you enjoyed this season
playing with this group of guys.

Speaker 6 (01:06:43):
Man, it's been a lot of fun, a lot of fun,
a lot of gratitude. I'd have been a lot in
a lot of battles with these fans over the years.
I would have never thought that I'd get a chance
for these guys to cheer me on. So it's been
an unbelievable experience and extremely grateful for you guys.

Speaker 8 (01:06:58):
Thank you, stay chanted CP three as you were standing
at the free throw line as it closed out any
parting messages for them as you head into the summer.

Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:07:11):
This team right here got a great group young guys
that play hard. You got Vic, you got Fox. I'm
excited to see what the team looks like going forward.

Speaker 3 (01:07:21):
Yeah, but is he going to be a part of that.

Speaker 4 (01:07:23):
He said he's excited to see what it's like going forward.

Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
That that didn't say I'll be bad exactly, because that's
what everybody was waiting on. Yeah, everybody was waiting to
hear you you'll be Do you remember what you said
when I was talking about the effect of Chris Paul
at the beginning of the season, and you told me man, Chris.

Speaker 4 (01:07:46):
Paul he played in full season in five and six years,
and he.

Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
Decided this was the year. This was this was the
year because there wasn't no pressure it no pressure none.
It wasn't that Rory putt at the He did more
than I said.

Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
I said he would probably play twenty to twenty five
minutes a game.

Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
Remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Yes, yeah, Chris Paul was like, yeah, Mark here, you
don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (01:08:12):
Do you go out there and played thirty minutes a game?

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
And went out there and played eighty two? And there
was three guys that played eighty two games.

Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
On that team and he was one of them.

Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
So for me, I thank you Chris Paul for showing
up every single night, making sure that he was locked
in every single night, and being able to play that
type of basketball game, that brand of basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
What do you think was more valuable him playing that
amount of minutes and playing the full season or what
the guys around him learned because of his greatness.

Speaker 3 (01:08:54):
I think it was teaching these young players how to
be professionals.

Speaker 4 (01:08:57):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
I think it's always that educatational piece of it. You
don't stay in the league as long as he as
he has and not be professional, not not being able
to give words of wisdoms to those younger players. So
it'll be it'll be interesting to see what these young
players do moving forward with or without Chris Paul, and

(01:09:20):
to see what's next for that coaching staff as well.

Speaker 4 (01:09:24):
And that's the other question.

Speaker 7 (01:09:26):
Do you.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Ask Chris Paul don't You don't tell Chris Paul anything.
Do you ask Chris Paul, I want you to be
a member of our Spurs staff and make him one
of the assistant coaches to continue to mentor when da
Yama and those young guards that the Spurs have because

(01:09:50):
they obviously respect him.

Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
Yeah, but knowing Chris Paul, he may want to still play.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
That's what I'm saying. I know he's got another year,
but how many play coaches have that bench.

Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
Well, he's not gonna be that guy. I don't think
he'll be that. I mean, you look at that bench, man,
Look at all them coaches on that bench. Anyway, it's like, man, hey,
you get a coach, you get a call.

Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
Yeah, it's like come on, man.

Speaker 1 (01:10:14):
But the question is if he does ever decide to coach,
who would want to play for Chris Paul Because Chris
Paul will challenge yeah, yeah, he will challenge you every time.
And we saw what happened to those Mark Jackson and
Darvin Ham guys don't want to be challenged.

Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
But tonight we.

Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
Got an opportunity to watch the w NBA Draft. I know,
don't laugh, I know, but it's real talk and it's
real conversation. The w NBA Draft will be going on
tonight and as regarded, that number one pick will go
as Page Beckers, the unbelievable player from Yukon. She finally
got her championship this season and the NCAA tournament, excuse me,

(01:10:55):
she averaged twenty four points, four rebounds, three assists, two stills,
and one point three blocks per game. I believe she
will be the number one overall pick, but it'll be
interesting to see where Kaylee or excuse me, Hayley van
Leith and all these other players, and for Mark Henry,
for our guy Marcus. I want to thank everybody, and

(01:11:17):
if you missed any part of the show, get over
to the podcast page wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
And make sure you tune in.

Speaker 1 (01:11:23):
Tomorrow we'll hear from coach Sarkeesian and we will have
Joe Cook of Inside Texas And as always, don't believe
everything you see, because even salt looks like sugar.

Speaker 4 (01:11:33):
