Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kelly Nash, Welcome in the studio. Mister Jack's long good
to see you. And again, my friend, how are you
very good?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Very good?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Now you are the director of development, you tell me, yes, yes, sir,
the Palmetto Lifeline. Talk to me about exactly for persons
who don't know what you guys do, let's talk about
specifically what your mission is.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Well, you know, we're in animal rescue or no kill,
and our mission is too for no healthy, adoptable animal
to be euthanized simply because it's homeless.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
That is a huge mission.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yes, we pull about three thousand a year wow, coming
from the two shelters and local surrenders, right and it's
really becoming more and more now local surrenders of family
and providing them care necessarily and getting the animals adopted.
There's plenty of homes out there right.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Well, in order to do this, one of the big
prevent you know, promotions events that you guys do is
coming up Saturday, April fifth. Yes, talk to us about
what's going on at bark to the Park.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Well, first off, mister McDaniels and McDaniels soup, we could
not do this event if they weren't the presenting sponsor.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Bill loves his dog.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Oh he does. In fact, his have just gave him
a kitten a few weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I saw the video where Suzanne walked that in there,
and I was wondering how the dog was going to respond.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
By the way I have seen it, and I could
live in his doghouse. I could live comfortably in that
dog's house me too, all right. So now this could
be a Saluta Shows park you mentioned April fifth.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
The registration will start at ten o'clock. The walk will
be at eleven, and we have you know you can
you can walk either a zero point two of a
mile or one point five mile along the Salitar River.
It's a really nice nature and then we come back
afterwards and out on their soccer fields. We'll have an
after paw t haw tea good money to have some advertising.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Come up with that storming sessions, yes, sir, but I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
It's a great party, you know, and the ventil going
about one one or two o'clock something like that, and
it's just a very family friendly event.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Well in South Carolina's known for a lot of great
family events. And one of the keys to a great
family is obviously the family pet, and that's what we're celebrating.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Well exactly because I mean, right now, I'll tell you
that COVID changed the world sure in that a lot
of the older veterinarians and everything retired and sold the
practices and all of the veterinarian clinics and things are
now bought up by these large changes. And the price
are the just.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Going to the roof for vet caa astronomical.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
And we find families can't afford to take their dog
to the regular vet anymore, and they'll go over there
and they'll be confronted with a minor injury, maybe just
a broken leg or something like that, and it's a
thousand dollars bill and they can't afford it. So we're
about once a week having a family come to us
who don't want to give up and have their pet

(02:53):
use inize perfectly health the animal because of a minor,
easily fixable ailment that the animal has. And we do
that and even with those run about a thousand dollars.
We really what we need. We need everybody listening to
this broadcast that owns a dog in a cat to
please go to our website Bark Toothpark dot com and

(03:18):
register to be a walker or make a donation, because, y'all,
I'll tell you, we are seriously behind on our budget
this year for seven or eight years now, and this
is the first year I've seen we're short on raising
our funds for sponsorship walkers.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Well, you're doing everything you can to get the people
to come out. I like the fact that you have
these contests that are going to be happening as well.
I'm looking over you got best costume contest, best look alike,
you look most like your pet, you win a prize,
you got the best trick that your pet can do.
You got lots of different opportunities to make it fun.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Well.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
That also that Canine's in Flight are this professional group?
Y'all these were formally homeless dogs.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Oh wow, that they.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Have trained these dogs and you need to go watch
these to, you know, embarrass you and show you everything
you haven't talked about. They put on a show those
dogs go flying after. I mean, it's an amazing that'll
be performed twice during the day and it's just all
kind of good entertainment. And then you know, again, there

(04:14):
were hoping to have six people there, nice with our
families there with their companion Pa.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Absolutely now it's going to be a saluted shows park
on April fifth. And you do mention because this is
that time of the year when there's something going on
every weekend for family. So if you're not able to
go to this, you can still make a donation much needed,
much appreciated to Palmetto Lifeline.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yes, sir, Bark to the Park, just going to the

Park April fifth, brought to you in part by McDaniels
