Speaker 1 (00:00):
Killing Nash. Welcome on the phone, Brian Kelly.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Hey, Now, good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:04):
Hey, good morning to y'all. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
I know it's Sonny where you are. The Sunshine State
of Mind, Season two, Chapter one is rolling out all
across America.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Man if I'm just so happy it's finally out. You know,
I guess it was four years ago I released Season one.
Kind of feels like yesterday, and it kind of feels
like forever, and man, just to have this second part
of the series out is just awesome. Number one, because
I wrote these songs during the season one kind of
season of life and creation of that. So the majority
of these songs I've loved for years and was ready

(00:36):
just to go in and court them and get them
out for the world. And I think this record really
kicks off where season one left off, and you know,
we also kind of travel some some different places geographically
like Colorado, Tennessee and just share more of my life
and my thoughts and just grateful to have this record
out and it feels like people are loving it. To
have this album to add to my set list for
this tour is really special as well. I have four

(00:57):
records out to pull from for a set list for this,
so that makes it exciting.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
We're on with Brian Kelly, who'll beat in Columbia at
the Senate on July twenty fifth, and that is definitely
a much smaller venue than we're used to seeing you in.
Are you enjoying this more intimate.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Settings, man, They're amazing these intimate settings man, and are
just perfect for where I'm at in life, and it's
just great to see people show up and have a
great time no matter what the venue is. We've been
doing some really intimate shows down here in Florida, the
Surf Post sessions in the backyard of our little surf shop,
and those shows are so much fun. We've played some
bigger festivals, some mid size clubs to be able to

(01:37):
just see everybody in the crowd, to be able to connect,
and to also be building where I'm at as a
solo artist. Man, it's fun. It's a great time, and
I really enjoy it. Man. We haven't done a little
headline tour and I guess two or three years. So
we did a bunch of radio shows, a bunch of
different festivals, and now they just kind of put on
my own shows. It's something I've been looking forward to

(01:58):
and building for and so just excited to bring these
songs to life. And we've got such a great crew
and great band man. We've been building this for the
last couple of years and just really feel like we've
got everything dialed and locked in and we all love
being together out there and playing these songs and making
memories and seeing what we can do.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
You know, I didn't know this about you, that you
and Brittany have five dogs. Four of them were German Shepherds.
I laughed out loud that the fifth one listed here
is a docs and named Sheriff. I have a docson,
and that stupid dog drives me nuts. Maybe my Docs
is just hardheaded. Tell me about your dog.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
They are family. You know. We've got, like you said,
four shepherds, our little long haired dogs and miniature. His
name is Sheriff. Yeah, and he definitely lives up to
his name. He kind of moved in and runs the household.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Now. I can absolutely see that docs and running herd
over all those because the smaller the dog, the bigger
they think they are. So that ten foot tall bulletproof
Docks is running the herd of the shepherd. That's right,
do they travel with you, because I know it gets
a little crazy on the bus.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
They used to travel all with. Now we kind of
simplify a little bit. We'll bring one or.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Two talking with Brian Kelly, who's going to be in
town at the Senate. You can still get tickets right now.
This is going to be an incredible opportunity for people
to see one of the most high profile country artists
of the last ten to fifteen years up close and
personal when you come to the Senate And you know,
for me, maybe this is the reason you're so successful

(03:23):
and I'm not because if I was you, I would
not be leaving my home and the thirty eight community
that just seems like heaven on earth whenever I go
down there. And not only are you successful as a musician,
but you've got some great businesses down there. The Papa Surf,
Burger Bar, you got the clothing line, you got so
many different things going on. You don't need to get

(03:43):
out on the road and work like this, and yet
you're still going to bring the tour to us.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I get it from my dad, and my wife loves
to work too. We love working, we love creating, we
love staying busy, and we love to have a good
time as well, for sure, Don't get me wrong, but man,
there's I think a drive in me and our whole
crew and our whole team. We just we love building
and we love pushing the limits. I think it just
really comes down to creative, being creative songwriting or whether

(04:09):
it's a burger joint concept or a little surf shop.
You know, we're really into elevating the human experience, no
matter what the business is, you know, And so just
trying to connect those dots. And yeah, we've got I
think eighteen shows on this tour, not too crazy, but
getting out there and trying to connect us music with
the fans and hit some new spots. And I'm mixing
in quite a bit of fishing this summer as well.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
So yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
That's always a good time.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
If you needed somebody to house sit for you while
you're in Colombia, I'd be happy to make that swat.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, I wanted to ask you about the Gulf Coast
Cowboys Angling Club. And I know every good fishing has
got a great fishing story. What's the best fishing story
you got for me? Man?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I got one from two days ago we were fishing
the Blue Marlon Grand Championship out of Orange Beach and
our team we brought back. I caught it five hundred
and eighty one pound blue marlin. We got fourth play man.
It was just an incredible moment. I'm still kind of speechless.
It was a great fight. It was a work of
art by our crew and our captain, our whole team

(05:08):
to get that fish online on the boat. That the
whole scenario was just felt like we were living a
dang Hemingway book or something. I mean, it was just
a magical, magical moment. Just grateful that my name was
called to be up next in the chair and you
just never know what you're gonna get. That one was
a keeper. So we're on cloud nine still.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
It's going to be a special night Friday night, July
twenty fifth here in Columbia. Brian Kelly is going to
be at the Senate. And you know, last time we
saw you as many years ago, and I remember having
a pretty in depth conversation about your love for Florida
State athletics. Do you feel like maybe you ought to
give a little love to the game Cocks when you're
in Columbia or are you just going to rock FSU.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
All the time. Oh, I'm not gonna rub it in
anybody's faces. I love South Carolina as a state, and
we've you know, our guitar player lives in South Carolina,
and I've got a lot of great memories and you know,
friends in South Carolina and just grateful for all this,
y'allre obviously hec a team and gosh, I hope our seminoles.
I think we're gonna have a good year. I think
we're gonna step it back up another level.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Brian Kelly. When he's not hauling in an award winning
Blue Marlin, he's entertaining a boatload of fans. And you're
gonna be doing that here in Columbia. By the way,
not far from a restaurant. Call to Blue Marlin. You
might want to go with us to dinner before the show.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Gosh, that sounds like my kind of plate.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Brian Kelly. Thank you for waking up early and getting
your day started with the morning.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Rush anytime, guys. I appreciate y'all. Thanks for having me
