(00:00):
Also hear a chat about obviously themusic and all the great things I've been
having too since we last chatted.I cannot believe that you just swept the
brit Awards. I mean, Ican believe it, but I think all
of us still are just so proudof you for that, and everyone's still
congratulating you about that getting the mostaward. How does that even feel?

(00:21):
Honestly, it feels so that night. So it did cut out for a
bit, But were you talking aboutthe Brits? Yeah, sorry, I
cut out of it when I misseda question. It felt that whole entire
night. Honestly, still to mehas kind of been just a blur.
You know. I went to thebrit School as a kid, which is

(00:42):
like the school that was sponsored bythe Brits. There was like a free
kind of performing arts school where youknow, people can go and stuff like
that. And when there's a kidto the brit Awards was just this and
it still is. It just huge, massive deal something that I grew up
watching my favorite artists go up andreceive accolades for their hard work and for

(01:04):
their art. You know, it'salways been a massive dream of mine and
it dreams. That dream came truein probably like the most intense, insane
way possible. So I'm still verymuch like that didn't that happen. I've
recorded it on the Telly to watchback, and I still haven't watched it
back. But the time will comewhere I'm like, Okay, I'm ready

(01:26):
to watch it and be like,oh, sigga, that really did happen.
You know. Yeah, that isso interesting because last time we chatted,
when you were here in New YorkCity, we're still talking about how
you're trying to make a voice forwriters and women in the business and your
independence, and you still had itfully fully broken out. But then shortly

(01:46):
after that you got like this intense, like you said, amount of love.
So from there to now where's yourmind at, it's just a whole
huge mixture of you know, gratitudeand still just kind of being like this

(02:07):
is I don't know. I thinkit's such an interesting thing when you're striving
towards something with passion and intensity,I mean, and then it's a whole
other thing when you achieve a dreams. It's such such a beautiful and weird
feeling that I think it's going totake quite a while for me to fully

(02:28):
digest. I don't quite know.I don't know how people do it,
you know what I mean. Idon't know how Billie Eilish does it.
I mean, the girl wins anaward like five times a month, and
I don't know how I would processthat, do you? I mean the
Brits. I was there, like, what the hell is happening? Like,
I am so overwhelmed right now.I'm so my mind is so blown.

(02:53):
I'm so full of energy and sotired the same. It doesn't make
any sense. It's an amazing feeling, but it's like, wow, I
don't know so clearly. I stillhave some things to work through in processing
it all, but I am sograteful. No. I love seeing that
you're using technology like your toys andanimal crossing to get your mind off of
the work. Work works, butthen you still go off in that avenue

(03:15):
too, like you just don't stop. Oh yeah, I love my We
were just talking earlier because my Nintendoswitch is like everything to me, and
actually, you know, I've I'verecently like come off socials and stuff like
I'll check it once a week,but I've changed my password so I can't
access it anymore, which has actuallybeen really good for me, you know.

(03:39):
I made that decision maybe like twothree months ago, and ever since,
like it's just helped me so much. But my switch is like my
escape, you know what I mean. I get to like build my animal
crossing community, run around, youknow, collect rare fish. My museum
is thriving right now. But I'veactually currently left my switch somewhere and I've

(04:01):
got a flight in Lesson and asI'm really hoping me and my switch can
be reunited because I'm in New York. Bright now went flying up things across
it. It's okay because I reallyare you. We're praying that you find
a girl I want to go backto you saying that you change your passwords
to social media. We see alot of artists that struggle with social media.
Sina Gomez is constantly hopping on andoff. Some artists don't want to

(04:24):
share too much because they get overwhelmed. What made you decide to change your
passwords and put a limit on yoursocial media? Do you know? When
I think about it, I don't. I don't think. I don't think
social media is just I don't thinkit's a healthy place to exist for a
long period of time. And I'mnot someone who's really good at knowing kind

(04:46):
of balance. I think some peopleare probably better at being like I'll be
on here for twenty minutes and thenI'll put it down. And I have
quite an addictive personality and quite atendency to indulge in whatever I'm I'm in.
And I also do find that spendingmore than fifteen minutes at a time
on social media makes me feel likechewing them on the bottom of someone's shoe.

(05:10):
You know. I feel like I'mnot doing enough. I feel less
attractive. I feel like I couldhave done this better. I need to
be making more content, I needto be These are all feelings that I
think are just so unnecessary, andfeelings that just don't bring me joy,

(05:31):
feelings that make me feel insecure.I think there's another thing, you know
as well. Reading comments is aterrible thing to do because there are so
many lovely comments and lovely people outthere who have lovely things to say,
and then there are mean people whohave mean, nasty, uneducated, horrible

(05:55):
things to say, and you readthat take zero point four seconds to read,
and it can affect your entire week, So I've just said no,
no, no, I'm proud ofyou for that, for keeping your your
standard and protecting yourself from those negativefeelings you've been having that or just not
it. Thanks go. And that'swhy I changed my passwords and made someone

(06:19):
else do the password, because Ithink if I knew I would log back
on, I'd be like, Ijust need to see what's going on.
No, I don't. I cantake it once a week. I do
want to tell you what's going onwith Genesis though, because this record Ray,
I mean, it's the Ray thatwe love, those emotional depths with

(06:40):
your lyrics, and you're you're doingit again. How are you feeling that
when you do hop on you seeso much love for the work that you
do and for your love and passionfor music. No, it's been that
the whole this whole song in ahole, entire experience has been so fulfilling,

(07:01):
and there was so much passion andlove buying this song. You know
that the song is so intense. It's and do you know, I'm gonna
be honest, since it's come out, I haven't listened to it once,
Like I'll be like, okay, take it. It's not because I listened
to that song about ten thousand times. Okay, Okay, there's an understatement.

(07:25):
Okay. Over the last year andour I have listened to that song
thousands and thousands and thousands of times, and it got to the point where
it's like, Okay, it's notmine anymore. But you know, and
I feel like it's also an intermission. I don't think it's part of an
album or anything like that. Ijust think it's a piece of music.
I really felt passionately like I wantedto share. I was able to make

(07:46):
a video to it. I'm soproud of and they took a lot of
heart as well. And you know, what a beautiful thing and something I
will never ever take for granted again, Getting to be an artist who can
just share something she's so proud ofshe loves and the out I think is
important and things I want to befitless enough to discuss some my music and
I get to. And also tohave had all the support that we've had

(08:09):
is mind blowing. It really isbonkers. So yeah, I'm really,
really very very proud of Genesis.I really am. We're so proud of
you seeing you stick to it,being yourself and being a voice and the
record you know that we all heardand loved around the world, and now
you're still doing it and still goingout at the fact that you just said

(08:31):
right now like I get to dothis, we hear that with the music
that you feel so thankful to makeit and happy when we get to hear
it. So congratulations. What areyou working on now that you are excited
for us to hear in the futureor what are you working on? Some
projects you can expect I do youknow what? There are a couple of

(08:52):
exciting little things, well they're notYeah, a couple of things in the
pipeline that I'm excited to share thatI can't yet, but I'm excited for
those things to cut, you know, another light of day when the time
is right. So that's exciting. And then also I'm excited for that.
I'm not gonna lie. I haven'twritten I haven't been a songwriter properly a

(09:16):
songwriter for quite a long time.Other than Genesis and Chipping Wait that song,
I really haven't written anything. Andit's so different from my life before
this album, because normally I willwrite something every day, you know this,
My life is a songwriter you kindof write all the time. So

(09:37):
it's been a really big change, and I'm really excited to spend some time
near the end of this year beinga songwriter again, being in my comfy
clothes, being in my little cutespace and notebooks and my pens and my
thoughts and my therapy sessions, justlet it out. So I'm really looking
forward to that. And since yousaid that you don't listen to your own

(09:58):
song, what have you been listeningto? Are there some artists or albums
that you've been really feeling these days? Oh, I've been listening to an
artist called lay Fay who is justbeautiful. She has an album called Witch
and she's just fabulous. I loveher and I actually would love to work
with her one day ethics. She'sabsolutely brilliant. And as an artist called

(10:20):
Olivia Dean, who I love. She's a British artist. If you don't
know her, please get to knowand bank me later. She makes this
beautiful, rich, warm, gorgeous, soulful music. Her voice is just
impeccable and the songs are just beautiful. It's a really good soundtrack to the
summer. And then you know myclassics Nina simone every day. You know

(10:43):
our green is the Sun's coming outthis al green season. Oh yeah,
you know the classics, the Grace, Billy Holiday recently a lot of Billy
Yeah and Billy I is just newalbum. Come on girl, she did
that and Phineas they did that.Yeah you know so yeah yeah. And

(11:07):
before we sign off here, obviouslyit's summertime that I know, your head
of busy's or one thing that youhave to do before the summer ends.
Oh, something I have to dobefore the summer ends. I've been really
into like cycling recently. I don'tknow why I told you that, but

(11:33):
no, are you on the peloton? Are you? Like? Do you
have the cycle shoes? What's goingon? No? Like, will we
have like line bikes in the UK? I don't know if there's something that
traveled to America. Yeah, solike that. Yeah, so it's like
an electric bikes, so you don'treally have to do much work. It's
really nice that you can just travelacross the city and it's so nice.

(11:54):
I've really been enjoying being outside more. You know, I think it's easy
to get like and drive places, but when the weather's nice, exploring the
city on a bike. It's beenso nice, so I think this summer
I would love to just do alot more of that, really, yeah,
and scootering and stuff that's pretty fun. Is there anything else I want

(12:16):
to do this summer? I don'tknow. Just cycling and enjoying myself,
doing good shows and enjoying myself.I would love that. Okay, maybe
we can catch you on a citybike here in New York City then on
these streets. You are so sweet, You're always so amazing. Thank you
so much for hanging out with us, yours cong Jenesis, getting so much

(12:39):
love as it deserves, and wecan't wait for you to come to the
studio next time you're year around.Okay, Ray, thank you sweetheart,
