(00:00):
Nice be my day, Teddy. How was your weekend? How are you
feeling so good? I'm so happyto be here. Oh, we're happy
to be chatting with you because yoursong is like one of the most songs
we're playing right now on the Newhit List Lose Control. First of all,
I want to say congratulations for beingour iHeartRadio on the Verge Artists.
That's huge, so thrilled. Yeah, we've been blowing you up, but

(00:24):
deservingly so. You've been doing musicfor a very long time, but your
song Lose Control. Everyone really connectedto it and your sound. And what
are you feeling now that you seethat it's just been playing worldwide? I
feel feel very very fortunate and honoredand really justified. I guess you know.

(00:47):
I think I'm very happy to thatpeople are connecting to something that is
so of my heart and so dearto my heart, and it just it
just makes me feel like, youknow my honesty and my truth, and
you know, good songs. Goodsongs still work today. So I'm having
to hear that that's so true. And everyone loves seeing you worldwide. We

(01:08):
know that you're playing now your tourall over the globe. You've been adding
dates because dates have been sold out. How excited are you that the entire
world now wants to see you live? It's just quite strange. I'm I'm
you know, It's like when you'rewhen you're in the middle of working like
this, you know, you don'tquite really like look around and I guess

(01:30):
smell the roses, you know,because I just don't. I don't think
I quite know you and how bigthis is really until I think, I
think this year, being on theroad and seeing it firsthand, that might
be the time that it actually singsin where I'm standing out there and I'm
just like, oh my god, look at this, you know. So
it's toy to mentally be prepared forthat, because yeah, I'm just I

(01:55):
don't think I quite grasp it asI'm sitting here at the house, you
know what i mean, you know, until I get back out there,
then maybe I'm really starting to allstart to thinking, well, that's true.
I mean, when so much isgoing on, you sometimes lose control
of what's going Yeah, at thepresent moment, that's very smart to say,
absolutely no, But how are youstaying grounded, insane and humbled during

(02:20):
all these amazing things? That arehappening for you. I'm just and I'm
so lucky. First thoughts that Iget this opportunity to to do this music,
you know, and have an outletto keep my feelings and be able
to collaborate with people when I writethese songs, and to just constantly have
a person to talk to and andhave a healthy outlet to get my feelings

(02:43):
out and emotions out and share themwith people, and and and have the
constant reaffirmation by people to say,it's okay that you feel this way,
we also feel this way. AndI think, I think just having good
people and good collaborators and an outletto get my feelings out is just truly.
I feel so lucky to be ableto do that. And I hope

(03:04):
some wear along the line for everyonethey have some sort of outlet, some
healthy outlet to get their feelings andtheir emotions out. And I'm just grateful
thankfully that mine also cooincidentally pays thebills, which is also the best thing
in the world, do you know. So I'm feeling very very fortunate well
with people who love what they do, and you can just completely be consumed

(03:27):
with music even in your spirit inyour spare time, your free time.
But do you ever take a stepback and you're like, you know,
I just want to watch Netflix orI want to play video games, Like
what other outlets do you like going? I need to do that, But
no, I just can't. Iyou know, I just can't. I
don't think at this point in mylife, I have it in me to
take a step back and sit downand relax, because I just in a

(03:51):
world where there's one hundred thousand songsthat come out a day on Spotify and
there's a nine year old on TikTokwho's better than me everything i'd ever want
to be. Yeah, I justthey are that'd be better than you and
all of us. There's like anine year old out there who's just crushing
it. These better than all ofus everything. So at this point in

(04:12):
my life, I'm like, man, they're not gonna outwork me either.
I gotta like if I don't goget this and I'm not out here reaching
every second of the day and somebodyelse is gonna get it and not not,
well, I'm done do it eitheror not, you know what I
mean. I gotta get this thag. This is mine man, So I
just I just want it so badand I want I want, I want
the success I need, and ittakes a lot of long hours. It's

(04:34):
takes a lot of hard work, and I'm I always say, man,
there might be somebody more talented, but they ain't going outwork me. That's
for sure. You will not becaught slipping. There will not be one
second where you're not put in yourheart into everything to make this happen.
For Yount say it better. Ilove hearing that, and congratulations because your
songs are so love people are evenloving here and you re record them live.

(04:58):
I've tried everything but Fair Peer Lifealbum. What was the idea to
do that? You? We we'vealways just had like more of a success.
We're doing things live than we havefor doing like real music videos of
songs, you know, and likewhen people do music videos and there's a
storyline and stuff, there's okay.But we've always since I guess since I

(05:18):
kind of came up on covers andwe were we had my band, and
we've always been just kind of uploadingthings live and and even on TikTok and
stuff. I kind of the thingsthat always blew up for me is like
live performances and live things, andso we decided to just, you know,
rather than like make a music videofor any of the songs on the

(05:39):
record, like let's just film thewhole and record the whole record live,
because it's always it works better forfor us and and our I guess business
model, you know. But Ithink I think that also comes out a
way of because in a sorry, but I think that comes out of ways

(06:00):
because I think where where music istoday, you know, there's there's it's
there are a lot of good singersout there, and a lot of good
players out there, and a lotof good instrumentals out there, you know,
and real musicians are out there, but a lot of times people aren't
great live, and a lot oftimes, like and modern pop, there's
not a lot of like real truesingers and real true music out there,

(06:23):
you know. And so I thinkpeople just really respond to hearing somebody sing
live and it actually being really goodlive, you know. And not that
I'm like really good, I don'twant to say that, but I just
that we sound the same and it'sa whole new flavor of seeing us live.
And I think it also in someway too makes you want to come
see the show live too, becauseif you see us on a video and

(06:44):
we rock and you're like, man, I knew it was going to be
that good live, I want togo see this in person. And so
I think there's a lot of benefitsto doing live music and recording and filming
live music. And when I wasgrowing up, you know, the way
that I learned to sing was wasyou always like, I was so lucky
to be fortunate to be raised onthe YouTube being out When I was what

(07:05):
I you know, with Manta andBrown Middle school or so, and what
I wanted to learn how to sing, I could just YouTube my favorite singers
singing live, you know, watchold Michael Jackson videos and Marve Gay videos
and watch them sing live at places. And I just think, I think
live, the live thing is justso much much, so important to me.

(07:26):
And I do have to say, what, I'm watching you and people
will watch you sing, Like yousaid, it's just it hits different,
Like we can play the record, sure, but then when you see the
emotions that you're actually giving to us, when you know what I think,
I think too, Like I comingup in theater two, I believe and
that's so wholeheartedly, because I willalways say, like, eighty percent of

(07:48):
singing is also acting, you know, And I think it's like, even
if I'm singing a song that aboutsome someone that broke my heart three five
years ago that I've completely moved onpast, every time that you sing it,
you do kind of have to putyourself right back in that place that
you were then. And it takesa little bit of method acting to to

(08:09):
kind of really truly convince yourself tobelieve that again. You know, obviously
like you moved on, but youhave to you have to be back in
that place emotionally to really sing thatcorrectly. And I'm yeah, I think
it all. I think it alljust just more and more and more layers
to doing it live. Mm hmmm, Yeah, you're putting yourself. Maybe

(08:31):
maybe you're in a relationship now andyou weren't then, so now you're kind
of, like you were saying, have to do have method acting to go
back to that way. So howare you doing now? We have Valentine's
Day coming up in less than twoweeks. Any plans are you Valentine's Day
person or not? Really? Yeah, I'm I'm a love person, you
know, I'm just anything excuse Ican to just like love. I love

(08:56):
love God, I love it.That's my thing of it. I'll just
absolutely no plans yet. But youknow I got I got a hopeful in
my life that I I think I'mhave a little thing for you know,
So we'll see what happened Valentine.Oh you know it as soon as I

(09:16):
get here. Yeah, let hithim with a baby. Hit him with
a baby, b mine, youknow what I mean? Oh, baby,
be mine? That's so cute. What about the big Game? We
have a super Bowl in just afew weeks too. Do you have anyone
that you're rooting for? No,not necessarily. I've it's it's been harder

(09:37):
for me to keep putting this yearwith football. But I mean, I'll
definitely enjoy the super Bowl because itis the super Bowl. But I don't
have any susuing that, you know, any dog in that flight, I
guess. So it's a tough dayto be a Falcon fan. So,
you know what I mean, Idon't know if I don't know when the
next time I will get some dogin that fight. Get to know too.

(10:01):
Now back to your song Lose control. Everyone's been seeing those emotions you
share that it's about a relationship whereit's just negative, addictive in that in
itself is just turmoil. So doyou see your fans connecting with it and
how does that feel? You know? I love, I love to see
that people are connecting with it,but it always kind of I'm trying to

(10:22):
say this the right way, Like, you know, I love that people
are connecting with it, and Iknow I hear that it's helping people that
are also going through the same things, but I still hate that they're also
going through that too, you know, I mean sense it's always it's always
a double edged short with that becauseI'm thankful I went through that because now
I get to say something that helpspeople that are also going through that,

(10:43):
and that is show the function ofmusic. But also sorry you guys going
through that, and I hate thatI went through that too, you know,
But I think it all is allnecessary though, for the for the
build of like whatever whatever is happeningin life. You know, every time
I look back, I just Idon't think I ever have regrets about anything.
I think I'm just like because allthe things that sucked were definitely so

(11:07):
so vital to like or those thingshappen to pull me out of something that
I shouldn't have been in, youknow, And I think if I would
ever go back, it wouldn't beout of regret, It be just I
can mess up the same thing twice, you know, and I just to
just to be here again. Soit's it's gonna be okay. That's that's
the one hundred percent thing, right, It's always gonna be okay. So

(11:28):
I just yeah, I hate thatanybody's going through something like that, But
also I think it's gonna I thinkit's gonna sharpen the knife and make you
way better, you know. Iabsolutely agree with that, And maybe maybe
you're even thinking, like next time, can I'll connect to something a little
more positive. So I don't feelbad that you guys are that way,

(11:48):
you know what I mean. Yeah, I'm hoping. I'm hoping that the
next part of the record too,is gonna be just happier in general.
But we'll see. It depends. It depends if I get my heart broken
again, you know, Oh no, who knows. I mean, the
heartbreak songs do so well, butyour joy and your grace also it comes
through in so many other ways,So it is going to be fun to
see that evolution of you. Ihope so. And just one final thank

(12:15):
you to your fans, everyone that'ssupporting you in live shows or just streaming
here on the new hit List.Yeah, absolutely, I love you so
much. Just like I'm so gratefulfor what I have. But just there's
not a moment the day that goesby it I'm not truly Drake grateful and
working my heart off, just justjust working so hard to make sure that

(12:35):
I continue to be able to besomething that that people can look to and
and and and be inspired by.And I'm just truly so so grateful and
justified and thankful. There's just thelist goes on. I could I just
cry every day. I really do. Just at some point I just cry
every day, just like I can'tbelieve that I get to do this.

(12:56):
I just I get to do this, and I'm so grateful. I mean,
I just have to say, there'sa lot of people that we see
out here in these streets trying todo it, and whenever we come across
you, you are smiling, youare present, you are thankful, and
that means a lot to your fansbecause the fact that they love you so
much, and that you're doing allthe work for them means everything. So

(13:16):
thank you for being you and forgivingus you're all. And maybe one day
you'll be able to relax on theisland, but until then, you're gonna
be working hard on that nine yearold on TikTok you know it, baby.
Thank you so much, Teddy Swimsfor off and buying the new hit
List and we're gonna keep playing thatrecord and we can't wait for a more
that you have for us. Congratulationsand thanks again. Thank you
