Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everybody to our dunkin music lounge. My name is Maxwell,
but it's not about me, even though the camera might
be on me at this point in time, is it.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I'm thank you?
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Go ahead, now give it up a top to stay
Please come on, guys.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Dude, so so welcome. What's happening? How do I get
a pair of those fire.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
Shoes that you have on your feet through the reflective dude,
I'm so excited to be here.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Gosh, man, this growth, this journey has been something that fans,
that we as fans have seen firsthand. So let's talk
about what it felt like for you to believe in yourself,
to start to do the covers, to upload to social media,
to then follow this dream that steered you away from
being probably.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
A professional athlete. Yeah, where did it start in your heart?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Man? So?
Speaker 4 (00:44):
I mean, dude, when I first started posting and stuff
like all my music, I honestly had no idea that
it was going to get to this point. But I
was just like posting songs I was writing in covers
that I was like filming with my best friend, yeah,
brand in the crowded Yeah. But it was pretty crazy, man,
Like I was just writing songs in my room, like
(01:05):
leaving school and also playing like football, so I like
go from like football practice like home and then just
like write songs in my room and then post them.
But its crazy to see how much they've connected with people.
I think it's insane.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
So I want to hang there for a second and connecting.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
And we talked about this a tiny bit before we
came out here into our music lounge. You are creating
these songs that mean something to you, but then when
you sing them and the fans are singing them back
to you and they take on their own form and
you're seeing, Yeah, you see those stories that you wrote
connect with somebody else's stories as a songwriter.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
How amazing is it?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Dude?
Speaker 5 (01:42):
It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I like have to pinch myself, like whenever I'm performing.
It's kind of insane because it's like it's just insane
to see like how much music can like hold people yes,
and like seeing like especially on this tour that I've
been on, seeing the reactions from people. It's like in
the front row there's like people crying, and it's just
(02:03):
crazy to see.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
It is a powerful gift that you you have this
responsibility to sing from your heart and to be super vulnerable,
and it really feels it in it's I mean, I
can say we got people that are here front rows
in her that are handshaking, We got people clapping in
the crowd. That is a true, honest connection that you're
(02:26):
you're making. What was the decision when you thought about,
you know, using this form as your way.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
To express yourself. I mean, did you just pick up
the pin one day and think.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
So it's weird.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
I wrote my first song when I was in fifth grade.
But at the time, dude, I honestly had no idea
that I was writing a song. It was almost like
I was just like sitting at the piano and just
like playing around. But then I realized that I was
playing something that I was creating. And then I was
(02:57):
just writing for fun. And like my sister was in
the other room and I was like, I wrote a song.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
She was like, go away, yeah, get used to it
or probably, But the fact is is that you were
yourself since day one, and and to write these very
powerful records, and and knowing that you're putting yourself out there,
is it at some point in time kind of scary
to know that your emotions are there for the entire
(03:21):
world feel.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
I think it's it can be scary, but luckily from
the start, I like when I first started writing songs,
I promised myself that, yes, as an artist, I want
to write songs for myself that heal myself. Yeah, A
big part of artistry that I found is, yes, it's art,
it's music for myself, but also music for people in
(03:44):
general for sure, And I think it's it's like one
person versus the whole world potentially. So I think when
I first started doing it, I tried to make the
most authentic music to myself and things that I was
going through. And I think seeing like general reactions that
really heal people coming from real stuff is like magic.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Well, I mean, I'm pretty sure that anyone in this
room here, or anyone who has seen you on sold
out tours, you know what I mean. It's that it's
that you are being you and that genuine emotion feeling
you're not trying to pretend, but you're not, You're being you.
You know, let's talk about some of these songs. Man,
(04:26):
Let's go ahead and talk about pretending. But what's that
like to hit the stage just saw recently on your
IG bro, Yeah, you don't even need to sing the songs.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Everyone's singing with you. Dude.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
It's crazy, because no, it's wild.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
That song has had such a great reaction for people.
And I wrote it about like a real thing that
happened in like very like emotional process writing that song,
but I turned into like this uptepo song. But at
the shows, like we're all just screaming, Yeah, it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
I love.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
But again that goes so what we were just talking
about is you got these songs that take on a
life that they meant something, and they do mean something
for you. But then we as fans hearing them, feeling them,
we then make them into tiktoks. We find a way
to you know, spin them to make them connect to us.
That is a true gift that you have to be
able to create something that allows for us to.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
I just think it's beautiful how people can all be
connected through like the song and like do whatever they
want with it.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's insane if it's you.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Found your calling, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
And the thing that people can't connect you know on
a fifty three year old field goal also, but you know,
by the way, can you still kick a fifty three
yard field?
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Yeah? Sure?
Speaker 5 (05:38):
What's your range? So my longest in practice was sixty four?
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Wow, Okay, that's damn here like NFL recod bro do
you miss it?
Speaker 2 (05:50):
All right?
Speaker 4 (05:50):
So I think what I miss about it is I
just like miss my friends also understandably because we're all
on like this team and it was like really fun
to be around them every day. But also, I mean
music's been my calling.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Yeah, but it has been Well, let's talk about your
team that's with you now, your family, your friends that
are part of your let's say group chat.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
He was on the football team.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Brand it was on the football team. No, what position
were you playing?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
B okay was he was? He tied to predoped too?
Oh yeah, all right yeah he's like I got yeah,
but yeah, talk about it because a lot of folks
may see just you the piano, h you on stage, you,
but it's quite honestly a village. You know, some of
those family members, those folks that ride with you now
that allow you to be able to do what you
(06:34):
do at the highest level.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
I think like support from my family to my my
family's coming in today to see me perform at the show.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Later and I think, no, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
When I'm performing, I get excited and nervous, but then
like I go out into the crowd and I see
their faces and it's like home, yes, and it feels
so good. I think, Yeah, the team has been absolutely
insane and everybody is just so locked in.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
It's like one big family.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
It really is, dude.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
That's important to write with those folks that are there
to tell you know it. Sometimes they're there to lift
you up. But you know, there's sometimes where you can
be a bonehead, where it's like, yeah, you look out
to the crowd and you see that look for me,
and he's like, bro, it happened before, right, All right,
all right, fair enough, a couple of songs before we
get into performing here. Man, I have the question about
why not my job anymore? Why is that song lowercase?
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Dude?
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Oh that's a good question. Honestly, I think because.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
The day I wrote that song, when I was writing
it in my notes, I kept everything lowercase. I think,
just like staring at it because I was listening to
it on the plane ride back, probably something clicked in
my mind.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
I was like, it just seems more sad. Yeah, something
about all lowercase more sad, you know what I mean,
just like that? Yeah, something about that?
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Okay, all right, all right, that was the one question
about that song there.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
But we are gonna get before this brand new song
drops on the world on Friday. We were saying that
paper cup is when we're gonna get here in our
dunk and a lounge.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Man, what does this song mean to you? Dude?
Speaker 5 (08:03):
I wrote that song. It means a lot, dude.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
I think it's about admitting like that you made a mistake.
And I think that's hard for people to do, especially
for me, because sometimes I can be so stubborn. Okay,
but yeah, I wrote it. I wrote it in my
living room when I was saw my piano. Then I
finished the chorus on the plane. And for some reason,
(08:25):
I write songs really easily on planes because I get
super emotional. Something about being in the sky doesn't feel real.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
So yeah, the fact, yeah, yeah, I understand.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Yeah. And it was like an early flight, so I
was like asleep and I was typing on my phone
writing in.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
There it goes.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
But that was the feeling that you were in, That
was the moment that you were in. That was the true, honest,
heartfelt t was at that time that created this gem
of a record. And again that goes back to everything
at least said so far in this conversation is why
you're able to connect.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
So are you guys ready to connect through some music? Heads?
Up here?
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Talking to much move aside? Max, Well, well here we go.
Who's gonna come and occupy this seat and help.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
You out on me?
Speaker 5 (09:04):
And he's my guitar player.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Man, give it up, Mark Dunky music clown. This is
Thomas Day. Take it away, brother.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah, I'm gonna play three songs. The first one is
called Stranger, the second one is called paper Cup, and
then which is coming out Friday, and the last one's
Hearts Get Broken. So yeah, I'm super excited to be here.
This first one I wrote about having a falling out
with the best friend, so that now, now that the
interview is done, we're all gonna get sad. So yeah,
(09:35):
I play this one on tour and this is probably
one of those songs that I get really emotional.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
On, but gonna plays for you, Okay, I just want
(10:04):
to help or you Okay, right now I can't. You
don't seem like you're serf.
Speaker 6 (10:16):
And maybe I shouldn't have cold and maybe.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I never knew what the world.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
I'm thinking maybe we should talk about a letter, cause
surely know.
Speaker 7 (10:31):
You Aret and there stranger, so go ahead and cut
me off.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Either way, you haven't learnt. You still got a friend.
I don't have a learn so I keep a close
even the ones that for me the most speaking mere
bamputing me done. I'm just gonna wait you figure it out.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
Oh but maybe I shouldn't have cold because maybe I.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Never know you it all.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
I'm thinking maybe we should talk about.
Speaker 7 (11:22):
It later, because sy know you're acting like a strange.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
You. Okay, I just want to help you. Okay, No,
I can't. You don't seem like yours slight.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Thanks guys, I love that song so much. I think
it's been interesting because it's the first time I've written
a song that wasn't about like a relationship and more
of like a different scenario. I don't really want to
tap into there because then I get super sad. But
this next song's paper Cup coming out this Friday. Mean's
(12:40):
gonna come into.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Sorry did I let you go?
Speaker 1 (12:53):
And on?
Speaker 3 (12:59):
But can still feel your hands in my packet? To
young to think there's a chance I can lose it?
I'tside the chance now I'm cold improvesis No?
Speaker 6 (13:24):
I get afraid of thinking about the way the world was?
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Wonder if you move darn?
Speaker 7 (13:34):
Why I can give you?
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Do you feel the same know with that a body's
tide and the through way? Oh well, the cord if
you hit a paper cold, that's the most beautiful feel
about the first time? Lord, you have to you've crossed
(14:09):
the then flood and in space.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
On the spin.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
In chute is just something you'd.
Speaker 6 (14:24):
Say to gain. No, I get afraid thing about the
way it was?
Speaker 7 (14:39):
Wonder if you move on my I can't give you one.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Do you feel the same more with that?
Speaker 6 (14:51):
About it?
Speaker 2 (14:51):
S time.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
I throw it away like coffee in a pat because.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
It's so I was raised at time it was darn
it breaks in your chance?
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Got another word for you two? And you lose your
best friend. No, I got afraid of thing and brought
the way it was. I wonder if she moved on
(15:31):
while I can't give you, do you feel the shame
knowing that a body is touched, knowing you had to
leave for me? The carling.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
M H. I'm super excited because that song is coming
out Friday, and it's been a long time coming, wrote
wrote on a plane Bro, written on a plane tube.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Yeah, thanks Bro.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I have one more song and it was the song
I released before this.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
And it's a.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
It's interesting. I wrote it not not too long ago,
but I've been playing I played. I played it on
my last tour a little bit, not not a lot
of times. But I seem to connect with people. And
it's called Hearts Get Broken, And I just love this song.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
You're growing up, my love. Oh, I'm so proud you
figure it out that you don't need my chuch to
make you feel enough. Maybe the need is gone. But
(17:23):
do you want me just be honest? And my the
only one that's still holding. I want to believe you,
but it's heavy in my chest. Why do all your
words keep starting fires.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
In my head?
Speaker 3 (17:44):
I know you better than myself.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
I can tell, I can sell that you change in
I know you don't think.
Speaker 6 (17:55):
I notice where your mind goes when we're all in love. Oh,
I know that way got and chasing moments. Why isn't
gotten mean that our heart's ga broken? Oh no, you
only see love me with your eyes closed. Tell me
(18:15):
where you go?
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I know that way got and cat can and shot it.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Why is it gotten mean that a heart gout broken?
We're stuck in shades of good?
Speaker 6 (18:31):
But should it love?
Speaker 3 (18:32):
She col I'm scared we're boulder fade. Then maybe it's
too leads to save it.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
No, you don't think I notice where your mind gas
when we're rolling alone. I know that way got and
chasing moments. Why isn't gotten mean that a heart's gap broke?
Oh no, you only see lobby with your eyes closed.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Tell me where you go?
Speaker 6 (19:09):
I know that way got it can't clean, Charlen.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Why's it gotten mean that our.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Hearts can't broken?
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Why?
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Why does a lobby feel like you're lie? Why does
it not feel like it's.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
The last time that a curse cod No, you don't
think I noticed that will have.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Half we at the door.
Speaker 6 (19:46):
I know that way got it chasing moments? Why does
it gotten mean that our hearts can't broken? Oh no,
you only see lobby with your eyes close.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Tell me where you go?
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I know that way God and canting, charl and.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
How's you gotten means that? A hush?
Speaker 4 (20:20):
It's been so fun. I just want to think Duncan
and everybody, it's been amazing.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Bro let's go.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
I'm I'm like at a loss of words right now,
if gays can tell. And that's kind of tough because
my job is a talk Give it over Thomas one
more time, y'all. And I mean too, I love I
love you, bro, but I'm this is your backpack right
here too. The only thing is, man, I see a
Boston Red Sox like tag Man, But I still love.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
You, dog yo. So how awesome is this?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
This is gonna be one of these moments where we
get to say, I remember when, And that's what I
love most about being here in our Dunky music lounge, dude,
because I mean before we kind of things up here,
we're talking this tour, we're talking being on the road.
We're talking Radio City Music Hall, you know with Joshua Bassett.
When you when you think about the places that you've
been able to go across the globe and the country
(21:11):
in these iconic buildings like this for this tour, how
special is that for you?
Speaker 5 (21:15):
This special?
Speaker 6 (21:16):
Man?
Speaker 4 (21:17):
I went to I remember seeing this place because my mom,
she she lived a lot of her life in New
York City, Yeah, and I remember she would like tell
me about this place, and I mean it's just like
such a full circle moment.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
I'm super grateful that I get.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
To do it.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
It's crazy, and like we said just a bit ago, man,
I think that you get to do it sharing your gift, Man,
that you get to look out to the crowd at
these iconic buildings and yeah and get to you know,
exactly do what we have said here, share who you
are through this honest, this vulnerable music that is connected.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Man.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Big ups to you, for real, for real.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
All right, So here we are in our ducky music
lines before we get you out here, man, I got
a little challenge, dude.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
We're gonna we're gonna blind rank.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Some donuts, all right, Yeah, I mean there are a
lot of good donuts on the manu at Duncan, but
I'm gonna give you five.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
You're not gonna know where the next one is gonna be?
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Right here, Well we're not.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
I'm gonna lock and lay across the expensive but we're
gonna blind I'm gonna tell you what they are. You
got to blind rank them, not knowing what the next
one is gonna be. All right, So uh, let's start
with the Sprinkle donut. Where you gonna put that on
the list?
Speaker 5 (22:19):
Okay, Sprinkle donut. I'm like ahe is it strawberry chocolate.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Let's go strawberry sprinkle donut? One? That's number one. Okay,
that was already number one? All right? What about just
like your regular glazed?
Speaker 5 (22:34):
I put that at like three?
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Okay? All right, all right? What about the Boston cream donut?
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Is out of five?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (22:42):
It is out of five? It's out of five? Yeah, yeah,
I put out at four. Okay, but I didn't know
it's blind ranking. Set yourself up for this, all right,
here we go. What about like a jelly field Okay,
that's five. That's fine, that's fine, Okay, I still like them.
But all right, so we already have one, three, four,
and five. So I guess number the Thomas Day with
(23:06):
his face on the doughnut, I guess that's number two. Okay,
I'm down, all right, okay, all right, yeah, because I
think we have like a dozen batchet with your.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Face on it.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
It's actually so funny. Mango.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
My buddy was eating it, and when you eat it, people,
you took a bite and my head got chopped off
and it was.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
Jelly filled, so it looked like it was like yeah, alright.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
All right, so that's your blind red.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
I think.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Sorry, there it is the one with your face on it.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Yeah, sadly sits at number two because you already put
the strawberries one umber.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
That's what it is.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
They're good.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
They are slapping. Yeah, there it is man from our
ducking music lounge. Come on now give it up one
more time. You are someone who I hope I can
say is a friend now.
Speaker 1 (23:47):

going to continue to see as your star continues to shine. Thanks,
thank you so much for having me all right, guys,

One more round of applause for Thomas kas
