Hall of Fame Selection Committee. Hi John, Hello, how are
you great to have you in man. Thanks you a
big announcement, and we've got some exclusive stuff here because
it's not going on social media and being announced at

(00:57):
We're gonna run down who is being inducted. That's right
to the Hall of Fame. That's right, twenty twenty five,
that's the whole episode here. We're inducting six this year.
So we're going to play six different tracks from the
Hall of Fame inductees which will be inducted at the
next cpmas and induction ceremony in March of twenty twenty five.
That's going to be here before we know it. So

(01:18):

Speaker 1 (04:17):
The River ninety seven to three. This is the local
show with the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame. And
you just heard the first artist that is going to
be going into the Class of twenty twenty five of
the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame, the Jordan Brothers.
That's one of their big hits. Things I didn't say
to get this special episode underway, Brandon Valentine, Glenn Hamilton.

(04:38):
Here we have a very special guest tonight, John Christopher,
who's the Vice president chairman of the Hall of Fame
Selection Committee, John. How do artists get nominated to be
in the in the Hall of Fame, like the Jordan
Brothers for example.

Speaker 10 (04:53):
We have, we've done some We've made some extensive changes
to the system and how we've don in the past,
and our committee has come up with a set of
criteria that we're looking for, whether it be Grammy nominations,
Grammy wins, record sales, on and on and on. When
you know that and that's good for like people have

(05:16):
more on a regional level or larger for those that
are more on the local level. Obviously you know the
level of success that they've reached on a local level.
We take that into play too. But anyways, we have
a list of criteria and that is on the website.
That's what we're looking for. There's a nomination form on
the website as well. We ask people to please fill

(05:39):
out the nomination form send that in I guess I
shouldn't say nomination form, but a submission form, okay, And
we asked for them to fill that out and send
that to us, and then our committee will will vet
all that. We'll go through make sure everything on there
is accurate as accurate as possible, and then we add
them to to our list. Going into this year, we

(06:03):
had a list of sixty eight names that we vetted
and we had to you know.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Whittle it down. Yeah, Yeah, that's hard to do.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
It is a lot too, considering already thirty acts and
artists and bands have been inducted in the Central Pennsylvania
Music Hall of Fame. So you add those together, that's
ninety eight or almost over one hundred. Uh, you know,
acts highly esteemed from the area.

Speaker 10 (06:25):
Well, think of it this way, being that this is
the fifth year in or the sixth year in whatever
we're going into, you have probably well over one hundred
years of history that you're trying to make up for.
So I've always said to my committee the first five
to ten years are the most crucial because you have

(06:46):
a lot of artists that go back and back and back,
and you know, you might not be familiar with them.
Brandon might not be familiar with them. I'm a little older,
so I might have a little bit of knowledge on
who they are. However, or their window opportunity gets narrower
as time goes on, because there's more people that I

(07:09):
guess more current that you want to see or are
going to probably get a lot of votes as time
goes on. So now's the time to sort of take
care of the older nominee if you will.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
For lack of better terms such as the Jordan Brothers.
Correct and who's the next artist going?

Speaker 3 (07:26):
In Brandon perfect segue into our next inductee into the
twenty twenty five class of the Central Buns of Ania
Music Hall of Fame. It's Anita Humes, a Harrisburg native,
lead singer of the Essex and their big hit Easier
Said than Done. This is the local show on the
river in ninety seven to three.

Speaker 11 (07:45):
My friends, I'll tell me go to him, run to him,
says we talk to you, thanks to him, and tell him
he's a deep in my heart hond out that God
is so hot to show. It doesn't easy. He's you
said them done, my buddies, tell me fly from him,

(08:08):
side to him, tell him I would doctor him, and tell.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
Him he's a wall.

Speaker 11 (08:17):
Although he gives me a feeling that sends my mum
the reeling.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
Yet it's easy. He's just said them done well, and no,
that a lot.

Speaker 12 (08:32):
I'm a friend that.

Speaker 11 (08:33):
You'll never know because I guess I'll.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
Turn it and shine.

Speaker 13 (08:39):
It's time look him any.

Speaker 11 (08:42):

and just you wand he think for him.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Tell he's a wall. I gotta love so.

Speaker 11 (08:54):
True, and yet I'm sad and new because it's easy.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Heez.

Speaker 11 (09:00):
Your said them done well.

Speaker 13 (09:04):
I don't let a lot him dot.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
I'm afraid that you'll never know.

Speaker 11 (09:11):
Because of that, I guess I'll.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
Die any shine. He's time I look at any eye.

Speaker 11 (09:17):
Okay, I'll tell me, sink, you can swing with him
and just do anything for him, and.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
Tell me he's a wall. I've got a lot.

Speaker 11 (09:30):
So true, and get down standing because it's easy. He's
just said and done.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
Heez.

Speaker 8 (09:41):

Speaker 1 (13:55):
You're listening to the local show on the River ninety
seventy three and the iHeartRadio app that's our special Central
Pennsylvania Hall of Fame Class of twenty five announcement episode.
And you just heard the Innocence Mission from Lancaster Rain
setting out in the leaf boat. That's sorry.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
It's a big day of announcements, first in Jordan Brothers,
Anita Humes, and now the Innocence Mission. Kind of a
folk rock band there from the Lancaster, PA area. Bass
player Mike Bitz is actually in a Solar Federation. Yeah,
he's he's in Solar Federation who've won some CP Music Awards.
And he's also in a Genesis tribute band too.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
I didn't know that. A very talented guy, very nice
guy too, super nice guy and like most bass players,
just very low key, yeah, very very quiet, speakin of
quiet one. John Christopher's a bass player. Do you play bass? John?

Speaker 8 (14:46):
I do.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
I did not know that I do. Personality fens right,
we've done, yes, very You know, John is the vice
president chairman of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, and
you're hearing the announcement first of the lineup of the
class of twenty twenty five, and we've already heard three artists.
But John, what is the voting process you get the nominees?
You said right now, you had to whittle it down

(15:08):
to five from the current list of sixty seven.

Speaker 10 (15:12):
Correctly, Yeah, we had our major list was sixty seven,
sixty eight people that were on the list. I have
a committee of seven people, and the seven people we
get together and we look at that list of sixty
eight and we determine who who's going to be passed

(15:32):
on to the selection committee. Okay, this year we whittled
it down to twenty seven names or artists or acts
or whatever you want to call it. At that point,
the seven people on the committee are voters, and I
have four at large.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
I should say six voters. I don't vote.

Speaker 10 (15:50):
I'm the I stay out of it. Gotcha, tye breaker,
tie break, Yes, very much, gotcha. So with the six
people on the committee, we all so invite four at
large voters to come in.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (16:04):
When I say at large, they are people who have
Central Pennsylvania music ties, have a little bit of knowledge
about the music scene over the past twenty thirty, forty years, whatever,
And they come in. We present them with the names,
those twenty seven names, and the voting system is done
on a ten point down to one system, So the

(16:27):
actual voter has the option of giving say, for example,
I'm just going to use they're already in. I'm just
gonna use their name, blitz Donette. If you know about Blitzteinette,
you can say, I'm going to give them a ten vote, okay,
and then nine eight, seven, six for your next artist. Now,
there is some strategy that can be played there, because

(16:48):
if you are convinced that, say like Blitzteinett is a
no brainer, you don't have to give them your.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Ten vote because you know other people are going to
give them exactly Mars exactly, So you can give somebody
else higher vote and give them maybe a eight or
seven or six vote. Okay.

Speaker 10 (17:04):
Anyways, we take the top five vote getters unless there's
a tie. This year was ti as we did six,
and that's typically how it's done. So and you don't
have to vote for ten. You could look at the
list and you can say, hey, well, I just want
to vote for these six, seven, whatever. If you're not
familiar with the name and you choose not to vote,

(17:26):
that's your option. So that's pretty much how the voting
process is done.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
All right. Well, coming up, we're going to hear more
of the artists that are being inducted into the Class
of twenty twenty five. We'll reveal those here in just
a second. By the way, you're hearing this first because
this is not going on social media or being announced
officially until tomorrow. But we're going to talk about the
people that are on the committee and also who might

(17:50):
be getting the Lifetime Achievement Award this year. So stick around.
It's the local show on the River ninety seven to

of season two and it's a special episode as we
announced the twenty twenty five class of the Central Pennsylvania

(19:20):
Music Hall of Fame, and our special guest is the
Vice President of the Hall of Fame and Chairman of
the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, John Christopher. Now, this
next artist doesn't actually sing this song, but he wrote
this song. And we played another one of the songs
that he wrote, I think was on last week's episode
Bonnie Rates I Can't Make You Love Me? That's right, John,

(19:40):
talk about this song a little bit, the Bonnie Rais song,
or this would be the Ronnie millsaps Mills song. Yeah, yeah,
so excuse me.

Speaker 10 (19:48):
Mike, Mike, Mike Reid is the next inductee so to speak,
not so to speak, he is. If you remember Mike Read.
Mike Read was a foot ball player at Penn State.
He was an All American, went on and played I
think five or six years of pro football with the
Cincinnati Bengals, and he walked away from football just said

(20:11):
I don't want to do this anymore. I want to
be a musician. And he dedicated his life and his
time to the music.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Incredible to walk away from a successful exactly exactly.

Speaker 10 (20:24):
He was a tremendous songwriter, as you know, well know.
He's written many songs for many different people. The song
I think that we're focusing on now is the song
that he wrote and Ronnie millsapp recorded it and made
it into a big hit. It was called Stranger of
My House and they both won Grammy Awards for that song.
Mike is a multi Grammy Award winner if I remember correctly,

(20:48):
and some of the other songs that he has written.
He's been a hard man to get in contact with.
So we're really really happy that he's going to be
able to join us. Yes, he said he will be there,
and hopefully that will get him to perform as well. Wow,
that's really huge. I just found that out right now

(21:08):
when you guys did, so that's really exciting. All right,
So let's do Mike read. He wrote this song for
Ronnie Millsap.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
This is There's a Stranger in My House and you're
hearing it on the River ninety seventy three on the
Local show.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
There's a side.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
Huge between.

Speaker 9 (21:51):
I've never heard before, and I can't find the love.

Speaker 18 (22:00):
I see any good. Let's change is school and on.
I'm beginning to understand.

Speaker 9 (22:12):
When I'm holding her, I.

Speaker 18 (22:15):
Swear I feel the presence I'm another man.

Speaker 6 (22:21):
There's a strange urg in my house.

Speaker 9 (22:26):
Somebody here that I can't see, a strange erg in
my house, somebody here trying to take her away from me.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
She's staring out the window.

Speaker 18 (22:51):
A billion miles a ways, and when I ask if
she's off right, she never has too much to see?

Speaker 5 (23:04):
Is it somebody people know? For somebody?

Speaker 8 (23:10):
She just means.

Speaker 9 (23:13):
Is she loving him in her mind?

Speaker 1 (23:16):
While she's lying him in my head?

Speaker 13 (23:21):
There's a strange air in my house.

Speaker 9 (23:26):
Somebody here that I can't see, strange air in my house.
Somebody here trying to take her away from me.

Speaker 13 (24:02):
Suspicions, needs the questions and questions, the alibis is.

Speaker 18 (24:22):
It just my imagination? Or has her love turns into life?
There's a strange erkinbous. Somebody here that I chase see
strange urge bis.

Speaker 9 (24:43):
Somebody here betther take her away? Strange erg and bis.
Somebody here that I've chassee stranger in bos.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Somebody, Yes, you just heard Rodny millsap on the River
ninety seven three. It's because it's the local show. And
the person that wrote that song Stranger in My House
is Mike Reid from Central PA, who will be inducted
into the Class of twenty twenty five of the Central

(25:30):
Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
Also a great solo musician himself. He has a lot
of songs out there. What's it called John Walk on Faith.

Speaker 10 (25:37):
Or walk on Faith first and first hit yep.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
So looking forward to having him at the ceremony, actually
going to be performing, so that's phenomenal. When is the ceremony,
that's also a big announcement. You can hear it right here,
right now live for the first time. It will be Wednesday,
March fifth, two. I'm putting it in my calendar when
day March fifth? And can you divulge the location? Sure? Okay,

(26:06):
where's it going to because I know it can't be
at Hershey Theater because they're going to be doing a
lot of remodeling there. That is correct.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
So if you've been to the cpma's and Hall of
Fame induction ceremony in the past, you know the first
year we had it at the Whittaker Center, max capacity
of I don't know, seven or eight hundred sold it out.
Both years we moved to the Hershey Theater nineteen hundred
seats there and as Glenn stated, they are under construction,
so we have a year to pivot here and to

(26:32):
maybe enter a new market, so we will be moving
the ceremony. Credits to John Christopher as well for the recommendation,
Oh John, it panned out and it's the right fit
for us for twenty twenty five. So we will be
moving the sixth annual Central Pennslvania Music Awards and Hall
of Fame Induction ceremony to the American Music Theater in Lancaster.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Wow, that's huge. Yes, we're excited. And you know Lancaster
so many artists are in Lancaster, in that whole area.
It's going to be great to be down in that
area for the awards ceremony and Hall of Fame induction.
You got it? Yeah, I think you know.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
The Innocents Mission, who we already played here as part
of the announcement, is from that area. And the last
band we are going to play us from that area
as well. All right, nice tease, there you go. Who's
up next? We're moving things back to some old school again.
If you remember, the Emperors were inducted into the Central
Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. The band Pentagon, who just had

(27:30):
their last show this past Friday on November first, also
inducted into the Hall of Fame, and there's a commonality
between both of those. Remember of the Emperors. Bobby Fulton
started at the records from Soulville as a producer and
had several bands, including the Emperors, underneath him. One of
the bands was called the Soulville All Stars and one

(27:51):
of the members is Rich Claire, Aha, lead singer from Pentagon.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
So Rich will be twice inducted. That's right. And I'm
Pentagon and with Sylville All Stars.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
And I don't know if you know this, but Rich
actually has a CPM h O F tattoo on him.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
I did not know that. I didn't know that either,
Jo I didn't know it either. I'll show you the
picture off air here, I gotta see it. Well, that's awesome. Well,
here are the Sylville All Stars. Won't you please be
my girl? It's the local show on the Wavery ninety
seventy three and iHeart radio.

Speaker 5 (28:38):
I'll adore you, do anything for you.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
As as you.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
I'll be a slave for you, work nuts and all day.

Speaker 5 (29:04):
To the.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
As long as you.

Speaker 8 (29:09):
Be my.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
You know that love make you feel so sad when
you lean up, you will be.

Speaker 8 (29:35):
So girl.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
Just drink me right right.

Speaker 12 (29:41):
Reading stuff times go, we can't get through, so we'll
have a love.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
All al.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
The River ninety seventy three. This is the local show

(30:38):
That is the Soulville All Stars featuring rich Claire and
Won't You Please Be My Girl? They are part of
the Class of twenty twenty five of the Central Pennsylvania
Music Hall of Fame. Just being announced officially tonight and
you're hearing it here on the river in iHeart Radio.

Speaker 10 (30:54):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
We have one more to announce, but before we get
to that, let's talk about another award that we give out.
That kind of it falls in between I think our
regular awards, you know, best rock Band, best Jazz Band,
and then the honor of being in the Hall of Fame, right,
and that is the Lifetime Achievement.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Award, the Whitey Nole Award. That's right.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
I was going to say it actually carries the title
of the Whitey Nole Award. Whitey was the first recipient
of that award as the founder of Pennsylvania Musician Magazine.
We actually inducted John Harris as well for his tremendous
work in the Harrisburg area with Millenni Music Conference.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
And a lot more fanzity brings and has helped grow
over the years and become successful all the shows he books.
That's right.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
We also acknowledged the Claire Brothers for starting Claire Brothers
Audio down at Rockcolytits also in Lancaster County.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
And this past year we acknowledged Al Shade as the
Lifetime Achievement Award, ninety nine year old Al Shade. If
everybody was there, you'd certainly remember that performance. He was
so funny, he was so aren't warming. It was so
great to see him up there on stage still doing
this thing.

Speaker 5 (32:03):
Man, he was.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
That's the epitome of a Lifetime Achievement Award. Still living it,
still doing it and accept the award.

Speaker 10 (32:14):
So who is the honoree this year? We haven't decided yet.
Our committee is going to get together.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
So okay, well, thanks for coming on, John.

Speaker 10 (32:25):
I wanted to just just say that we've made some
changes when it comes to that, okay again, in the
restructuring of the Hall of Fame Committee so to speak,
or all of the Hall of Fame. What we've decided
to do is being that the Hall of Fame Committee
handles that. We figured that the Lifetime Achievement a Ward
should fall under that umbrella as well. What we used

(32:48):
to do in the past was we would put that
out to the border directors and also our advisory board
to nominate and vote. But we just figured that this year,
let's just put it back sort of where it belongs
and let our committee do it. So I think we
have twenty names that we're going to consider for this year.
We'll probably be making that decision in the next couple

(33:10):
of weeks and that'll be another show. We can make
that announcement and let you know who the Lifetime Achievement
ward is. But you know, it's one of those things
that I think the main thing people should understand when
it comes to that as well, that sort of the
criteria for that is, you know, we're looking for a
candidate who sort of is defined as a music industry

(33:30):
professional and who has exhibited you know, some meritorious service
or leadership, you know, strong innovation skills, that kind of thing.
And whereas we don't want to put a title on
it per se, it doesn't have to be like this
person or that person. But you know, it's sort of

(33:52):
in a way is to honor the people who are
non performers. Okay, now al Shade was a performer, but
understand the man's ninety nine years old, right, that is
a lifetime achievement absolutely, So it doesn't have to be
somebody who is a non performer. But I think that
that's sort of where we're going with this makes sense.

(34:12):
You know, there are people who are behind the scenes,
so to speak, that don't get the recognition of winning
a CPMA or a Hall of Fame award, and that's
what we're.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
And have put decades into this area from helping the
Central Pennsylvania music scene in ways that nobody really knows, right,
So it's great that you guys acknowledge it. So we'll
look forward to that announcement coming soon. And now here's
the final artist of the Class of twenty twenty five, Brandon.
Would you like to do the honors? I would love to.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
As we teased it before, the ceremony will be in
the city of Lancaster at the American Music Theater and
this already committed to being there. Lancaster natives August Burns
Red Yes, are they going to perform to be determined? Really, Yeah,

(35:01):
there we'll see, Yeah, I think we'll let's I think
we can well. The question the question really is is
how does this type of music go over to a
calm audience Sitting down?

Speaker 1 (35:12):
I guess not a calm audience. It's mostly bands and
rockers there there and thing man. I totally agree, but
we'll see how it goes over with your listeners to
talk to. I'll talk to these guys. Somebody's driving around
on Sunday night here at eight o'clock and they jump
in mid mid they just heard Ronnie millsap. If they
didn't drive off the road here in Ronnie Millsapp, I
think they'll be all right. Kick it with some metal.

(35:33):
August Burns read. Here's their newest this is called Exhumed.

Speaker 19 (37:14):

(37:41):

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Ninety seven to three, real rock variety, not just twenty
four to seven, but also on the Local Show. That's
our motto. If it's good, we play it. And that
is some Hall of Fame worthy rock right there. August
Burns Red the final artist announced going into the Class
of twenty twenty five of the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Fame Grammy nominees they always do their Christmas. Burns Red

area and very happy to celebrate them again in the
city of Lancaster this upcoming March.
