we always like to finish every episode with an artist
that's either already in the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of
Fame or is in consideration to be on the ballot
to be eventually inducted. And we've got something really different
for you this evening, Brandon. What did you bring us?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Yes, so different, Glenn. This artist here was born in
eighteen sixty seven.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Eighteen sixty seven, that's one hundred years before I was born.
Were you sixty seven? I was nice? All right?

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Thank you?

Speaker 3 (23:32):
So eighteen sixty seven in Shrewsbury Township. All right, the
guys from Glen Rock. Yes, I do right, Oh, sorry,
Glen Rock. That's a that's a that's a what do
they call it? An imperative statement? Okay, I will Glen Rock.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Anyway, he passed away actually in nineteen forty six, so
that's almost what eighty years ago. The guy's name is
Roland Forest Sites. Roland Sites. He's an American composer, band master,
and music publisher and he's known for his March compositions,
so much so that he's considered an inspiration to John Philip.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Sousa, Wow, the master of the March. And these are
the things that we love about the Central Pennsylvania Music
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
People know about Poison and Live and Fuel and Hailstorm
and the Badly's and you know, you name it, and
a lot of the successful bands in the area that
were either stayed local for a long time or regional.
But when we talk about the history from this area,
Roland Sites born in eighteen sixty seven, with his.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
March compositions right wild and in influencing John Phillips USA,
exactly how wild is that?

Speaker 3 (24:41):
And here, in fact, is his what he's known for best.
It's called March Grandioso and it's performed by the US
Navy Band.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
This is the local show on the River ninety seven
to three in Here You Go. That was composed by

(27:34):
Roland Sites from Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, born in eighteen sixty seven,
and he actually was an influence of John Phillips SUSA.
That is his original composition, Mars Grandioso performed by the
US Navy Band. It's amazing. Tell me another radio station
you're going to hear that on?

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Right?

Speaker 2 (27:53):
You won't? You won't.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
And that is what makes the local show stand out.
It's all genres as we mentioned, and if it's good,
we play it. March compositions gotta love it all.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Right, So how can people submit their original or cover
music or whatever they've recorded to hear on the radio.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
That's right, don't forget cpmhof dot com slash radio to
submit your song for airplay. And at the same time,
don't forget submit. Artists are encouraged to submit themselves. By
the way, November first begins the submissions for consideration for
to be an official nominee for the Central Pennsylvania Music Awards.
That's a mouthful, that isn't I'm glad that's why you're

(28:32):
in charge of that, because you can keep that all
straight in your head.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
It's awesome. I don't know if I get all right.
