Speaker 1 (00:01):
Proudly Pa.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is the local show with a Central Pennsylvania Music
Hall of Fame on the River ninety seven three.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Welcome into Season three, Episode twenty four of the Local Show.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
I'm Glenn Hamilton.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Brandon Valentine from the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame
is right there.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Happy Sunday.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
It is a happy Sunday, and we've got a lot
of good music coming up for you this hour. We
also have just announced last week Rock the Food Bank. Yes,
we're going to be rocking for the Central PA Food
Bank this December.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
All ticket sales are going to benefit Central PA Food Bank.
And I think that's because they recently lost some government funding, right,
so we're gonna.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Get and they always need funding, so we're going to
help them out in December. And I literally mean we,
you and I. That's our bands, Our respective bands are playing.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
That is true.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
Yes, Not only is the Hall of Fame and the
River you know, sponsoring and collaborating with XL Live in
Harrisburg for the show, But that is true, both you
and I will be entertaining the crowd as musicians as well.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
My Van Halen tribute that we put together Eric Wersing
on guitar, PG Herb on drums, and Mike Washkovich on
bass and backing vocals, and I think Mike Bitts is
going to be there on keyboards. I'm not sure, but
we focus on the DLR, David Lee Roth erright, ban Halen.
So we're it's our first like public show, Yes, that's right. Yeah,
because you guys opened up for Brett Michaels.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
No, we played with Brett, that's right, didn't open up
for you, played with him on stage, just absolutely surreal,
and we played a private party back in July.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Now we're gonna play Excel because you.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Guys have to see it's Eric's such a phenomenal guitar player.
Of course, half the band is from Solar Federation, the
Rush tribute band, so they're all top of their game musicians.
My job I just sing basically and Dave's parts and
get out of the way.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Let them rock. You know, that's my play anyway.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Because they take that same kind of mentality from Solar Federation,
which is note for note perfection of tone and everything,
and then apply it to Van Halen, which which really
in both cases really says a lot to the musicianship,
everybody involved, and you rock the stage. Man, you sound
like DLR too. Man, Thanks Man. Not only are you
guys performing the show, but you're headlining the show because
(02:22):
this is the one and only open to the public
one here, at least for at least the first one.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
We'll see what happens.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
But and of course I'm trying to sound like Dave
from the seventies and eighties as opposed to Dave now,
God bless him, right, and sometimes I do and sometimes
I don't. So we'll see what happens. See what happens
December fifth, because we also have your band, Cold Spring
Union that's right rocking. The Jelly Bricks are going to
be there. I have the Swisher suites and then opening
(02:48):
up is Amy Simpson and Dan Kibler an acoustics set.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yes, indeed, it's it's going to be a heck of
a rock show.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
And we'll maybe even see if we can get Amy
to sing a song with one or more of the
bands later on the evening. But either way, it's a
it's a star studded, stacked lineup and it's going to
be great.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Get your tickets now, Save the date. December fifth, will
be here before you know it. Twenty bucks for all
of that incredible entertainment, and you get your tickets now
and again, every penny goes to the food bank. Go
to the River ninety seven three dot com for everything

Speaker 10 (08:56):
Water down?
Speaker 3 (09:14):
It's the local show on the River ninety seven three.
That's new music from Alex Stanilla, Stanilla. Easy for me
to say it's watered down. And we were talking, is
it Alex Stania or Alex Danila. I think it's Stanilla.
I think he It's ended a open mic and I
think that's what we went with.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
But Alex put maybe the you know, the phonetic pronunciation
in the comments on our Facebook post. We'll make sure
we get it right. Yeah, call us out if we're wrong,
because it don't want to be wrong. So we said
it both ways.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
And it's a name of one of our listeners to
know because great song, great song. And we started with
Maggie Marr Miss Paranoia, and here's something that's been out
for a little while, but we really liked.

This song in this band. Yes, this is led by
Bobby Battaglia.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Here it's the Jacks with one of their singles off
their album Sweet Virginia. That's the title track, the title track,

Virginia by the Jacks on the local show The River

Speaker 16 (11:41):
I'm just scaring now the window as the sky faced flat.
Speaker 13 (11:47):
All wild thinking in there. There ain't no turning back.
I'm online these tags until the sun comes up. I

Speaker 3 (14:16):
The Jacks on the local show The River ninety seven
three the title track of their album Sweet Virginia.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Great band. I think they just played at the Abbey Bar.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Actually they've been frequenters there and that's a great transition
for us into going into the premiere of our abbe
Bar Open Mic Night Live edition that we play on
the radio here right on the River ninety seven three.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
We had a record breaking crowd back in August, and
if you were there at the begin of August, yeah,
thanks to everybody who showed up and our apologies to
those who couldn't get in, you know, get on stage.
We're gonna do them again, don't worry. But we had
so many artists coming. Fred Pellegrini has put his magic
on some post production just to master everything and make
it sound good. But I mean, you guys had to
sound good going into the microphones and into the recording,
(15:03):
So you guys did a great job.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Who are we going to feature this week.
Speaker 4 (15:06):

starting with Carrie Edwards. As we mentioned before the break here,
this is her original called taking the World by Storm,
and she'll introduced it herself here.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
So Chris, this is.
Speaker 17 (16:17):
Called Taking the world by storm.
Speaker 18 (16:24):
They knew she was gonna be trouble.
Speaker 17 (16:27):
A misfit daughter's struggle, the perfect storm on the black
sheep board, and a pristine family fixeded on their reputation
with their ridiculous expectations, trying to tame that wild child
who needed to be free. Was black, trying to hold
(16:51):
back the ragon's taking the world past.
Speaker 10 (17:00):
The night.
Speaker 19 (17:01):
If you wanna go long, you're gonna have to hold
on tag.
Speaker 18 (17:07):
She the thunder in Passion's raining down.
Speaker 19 (17:14):
She's laying it a ways to everything that's held her
to the ground.
Speaker 12 (17:21):
She's call her her mother wanted her interesses.
Speaker 19 (17:35):
The father hated off her messes as they tried to
rings the carbon copy version of themselves.
Speaker 11 (17:45):

She'd leave it in.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
A blade the car.
Speaker 12 (17:50):
Yeah, she loved him.
Speaker 19 (17:52):
But she had blue the laws out from death cell, screaming,
I half to be mass.
Speaker 12 (18:03):
She's taking the world. Bestuit lit up the night.
Speaker 19 (18:09):
If you wanna go along, you're gonna have to hold
on time.
Speaker 18 (18:15):

Speaker 5 (18:29):

Speaker 19 (19:49):
You can find me around Lancaster and New York and
soon hopefully in Harrisburg area.
Speaker 12 (19:54):
Carrie Edwards music dot com.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Yeah, live from the Abbey Bar that's carry Edwards taking
the world by storm, and she will be I think
she sounds amazing. Yeah, and you know we I think
we'll be doing this what every week, probably right where
we're gonna feature a different artist. And just as a reminder,
they were, you know, lined up at the door in
order to play on stage. We had them perform one
song live, we had it recorded by Fred and now
(20:20):
we're ready to premiere them and have them played on
the radio here.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
So how cool is that?
Speaker 4 (20:26):
You know, you attend to local open mic, not only
do you get recorded by a Grammy Award winner, but
you also get the potential to hear your track on
the radio, just like carry Edwards.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
That's right, and that's the first time she's hearing it too.
That's so cool.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
And it'll be on the podcast tomorrow too, so you
can share it with the world. But it is there
is something about hearing your song on the radio for
the first time, agreed, or hearing yourself perform live. We
talked about that last time we did this. You know,
you go and you perform a live thing and it's
just kind of you do it and it's done. And
now these are recorded for posterity and they sound amazing
for so good job already. Can't wait to premiere more
(21:01):
of these in the weeks to come. All right, who's
up next?
Speaker 4 (21:03):
Up next, we have the newest track from a duo
who's been on our show multiple times. Oh yeah, Beautiful
Divide Tony and Rachel Beautiful Divide and this is their
newest called shallow Water.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
A local show in the river ninety seven three.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Who see mass.
Speaker 11 (21:43):
Is upset show?
Speaker 1 (21:53):
What can you s.
Speaker 11 (22:24):
Sessa with your some unto you.
Speaker 5 (22:47):

Speaker 20 (22:50):
They are crying.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Crying out, you'll must so you'll tell me.
Speaker 10 (23:14):
You beast away you say.
Speaker 11 (23:54):
Said with your son, I'm sorry.
Speaker 9 (24:23):
Or sale.
Speaker 11 (24:28):
Well, well, well.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
That is brand new from Beautiful Divide Shallow Water on
the local show The River ninety seventy three.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
And you hear all kinds of genres of music here
on the River of Local show, right.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Sure, country, Ok, we've even had you know, bluegrass and
Celtic music, rap for sure, hip hop.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
If it's good, we play it.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
And we always like to end the show with an
artist that's either already in the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall
of Fame or on the ballot for consideration for future induction.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
And these guys should definitely go in at some point.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Yes, we've had recur sooner than later, I agreed, we've
had recurrent discussions on these guys a year after year.
Their longevity in this area I think approaches, if not goes,
over forty years. They were icons in this area for decades.
Stan Middleton on.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Vocals, Yeah, Stan Middleton gone way too soon in twenty.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Twelve, I think he passed.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Awhile that's been a while, but he's an incredible singer,
the voice, the main voice of the Middleton Brothers, drums, keyboards,
he could play everything, and of course his brother Charlie,
one of my favorite guitar players of all time, just
one of the tastiest guitar players ever. And they always
had different members over the years in the Middleton Brothers,
(26:10):
but it was always about uh Stan and Charlie.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
The name of the band, the Middleton Brothers Band. And
we're gonna play one of their one of their hits
here this is I'm a Man who cries, and you.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Will cry by the end of this song. Probably by
the middle of this song. The Middleton Brothers on the
local show The River ninety seventy three.
Speaker 10 (26:46):
Tarson.
Speaker 9 (26:50):
And not be.
Speaker 20 (26:53):
Silent, torm invade.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
I seemed to put myself.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
Through venden me. Here's a test.
Speaker 20 (27:03):
Beard and the lost shot. Not to let you down,
but I'll stop taking of you. Lord, I'm sorry on
the trouble. I colost you. You're the only sunshine that
(27:24):
I have lived.
Speaker 11 (27:26):
The best guys.
Speaker 15 (27:29):
The Teardrops Bomas as a genius of wnder. I'm a man,
he said, who cries? They said, real shot, A strong,
(27:49):
a bow with.
Speaker 14 (27:51):
A back home steaming, not a pa I'm t I
listen text me in the paddle, I.
Speaker 15 (28:05):
Swelling God and my mind start you walk away.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
I'm tossing her. I'm turning not u.
Speaker 11 (28:19):
Sid of tombs.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
I seem to book myself to.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
Yearning. Man is a besty. I need more.
Speaker 21 (28:34):
Not to mention name that you and I started making
out of you. Lord, I'm saving, I'm the traveling I
come want you. You're the gold of sunshine.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
On the rid sky tears pop small.
Speaker 22 (28:58):
As I tender never written there. I'm the man you say,
try your sign, come a man, try.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
Old sign too many?
Speaker 8 (30:12):
Oh Man.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
The Middleton Brothers on the River ninety seven to three
on the Local show one of my favorite bands in
all of Central PA history.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Takes you back, huh Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
I used to go see them all the time in
the nineties and early mid two thousands. I mean they
would play at the Midtown Tavern and Shakey's and I
mean Chicks, I mean, you name it. They would play everywhere,
Kokomos out on the Carlisle Pike back when Cocomo's used
to They used to play almost every week. I mean,
(30:45):
they just a staple, a fixture in the Central Pennsylvania
music scene. Stand In Charlie Middleton and rest in peace
Stanley one of the also kindest human beings you'd ever meet,
and they should definitely go into the Central Pennsylvania Music
Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Than later agreed, I'm sure we'll be. We'll be talking
about them on stage at some point soon here. But yeah,
we always talk about how to get your music here
on the River ninety seven to three, the local show,
and submitting your tracks online. But this one kind of
went via snail mail, right. We got an actual CD
in the mail from Charlie Middleton. It never gets old,
from twenty twenty three, recorded with Joab and Donza at
(31:24):
Asylum Studios and mastered by Fred Bella Greeney.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
I had it, yeah, I mean these were tracks they
recorded a long time ago, right, and just released it.
But the cool thing is they made sure that they
got is r C numbers, that's right, so we can
track it and we can have it, you know, digitally
on the radio station. So you were able to rip
that CD and we were able to submit it with
the ISRC. So there's always a work around as long
(31:47):
as you got that magic isr C number. Yes, we
can get you on the air, and people listening that
aren't musicians are going, I don't know what you're talking about.
You say C three PO or D two and all no,
I mean for those who are outaware, it's almost like
a up a UPC code right on a barcode that
you scan each music, each single each track can get
a registered code that identifies the song, which might actually
(32:11):
be I think I said the actual words are IRC.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
I'm not sure what it stands for, but that might
be it. But yeah, it's like the identity behind the song,
the fingerprint of the song.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
And it's basically also what helps you see when you
see it come on the radio or on the iHeartRadio app.
The name of the band, the album art, the title
of the song, all of that stuff, you know. So
that's where that comes from.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
And it's a good reminder if you're out there and
you want to submit your song for consideration from airplay.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
That is one of the qualifiers that we need to
be on here.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
So if you submit things to digital streaming platforms on
iTunes or Amazon or Spotify, what have you, automatically generates
an ISRC, or there are services out there where you
can actually get an ISRC generated without uploading it to
streaming as well. So let us know and keep that
in mind as you apply here. For consideration for airplay.
This has been a public service announcement from the local.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Trying to help you guys out.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
All right, man, So now you know how to get
your stuff in. Go to cpmhof dot com, slash radio
right slash radio and they'll take your right to where
you need to submit in all the directions you need
and don't forget. We upload each week's episode to the
iHeartRadio app. You should be following the Riverlocal Show podcast
(33:22):
on the iHeartRadio app and that way you'll know when
the new episodes drop. So and next week we will
feature yet another artist live from the Abbey Bar.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
That's right, I already know who it is, but they don't,
so we'll keep it. We'll keep it a mystery.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Nice tease.
