Speaker 1 (00:00):
This hour of programming on seven to ten Woor. He's
sponsored by Toyota City and Mamaranac and Nissan City of Portchester,
proud members of the Integrity Automotive Group. Now former Westchester
County executive Rob Astina On sevent ten Woor.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Larry, I have not been assultant to Curtis Leeb. I
don't know Curtis Sleeveland. I never had a conversation with
the man. I only know what I've seen in the newspapers,
So I've never been critical of Curtis. I do believe
that Curtis cannot win this race. There is no numerical
(00:47):
way for it to happen. If what he's trying to
accomplish is better the city, he will take votes that
will make Zoran a winner, and that isn't as substantial
threat to New York.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Ah, there he is. Do you want to hear that
voice for four years as mayor? No? No, I don't
think he's gonna win. I don't think so at all.
That was from the Larry Menty Show this morning Mornings?
Was it Menty in the Morning. That's the actual name
of the show is on Thursday or Saturday Morning show. Oh, well,
(01:24):
that was the replay of the Saturday show, but that
was from Larry interviewing. That was great, right, And so
I listened to the interview, and we're waiting for curteously
when he's gonna call up and we're going to talk
to him about this race and where it stands. And
I have a poll that, interestingly enough, I have not
seen printed yet or talked about yet, but it's an
(01:45):
actual poll by Victory Insights, legitimate polling company, and some
very interesting things here. One hundred three two one zero
seven ten. One hundred three to two one zero seven ten.
That's the number to call later. You can on now
and stay on hold. But I talked to Curtis and
then and then I'll take your calls about who you
will vote for if you already voted today. By the way,
(02:07):
early voting started this morning in New York and in
New Jersey. I hope you run to the polls. I
did hear that in Nassau County, for instance. It's heavy
early voting in the right places for Republicans. That's good news.
And I hope Republicans are fired up everywhere because the
(02:31):
barbarians are here. So let me just talk to you
about the New York City mayor for a second. Here.
The Cuomo debate performance the other night was actually good.
He was catatonic in his first debate performance. He was horrible.
And then finally I think somebody put a stick of
(02:51):
dynamite up as you know what and told him, this
is it, man, your career is over. You better wake up.
And I kind of think in the first debate Cuomo
was I think, in the back of his head a
beaten man. And then he caught a little life and
he did well in this last debate. I thought he
(03:14):
was very aggressive, but he had to be. I thought
Curtis did a great job in both debates. He was
actually substantive. Curtis actually answered questions and had a plan,
which I really didn't hear from Cuomo certainly the first debate.
And Mamdami is just a sham. This guy was so exposed.
(03:38):
He is such a lightweight, and yet he is the
overwhelming odds on favorite to win this election, which is
really scary. But what did I say, months and months
and months ago, They are gonna normalize this guy. They
are gonna rally around this guy, and they have and
(03:59):
so the late this was Hakim Jeffreys, and I love
the way they twirl around it. Well, I don't agree
with him on everything, blah blah blah, but I'm going
to endorse him. Okay, you just endorsed his radical agenda.
You own him, Hakim, You own him, Governor Hokeel, you
(04:21):
own him. Democrats have fun. Republicans are just smiling that
the muscles in their face are sore from smiling so much.
That Mam Dami is going to be the face of
the Democratic Party going forward. And yeah, they own him,
(04:42):
And I knew it. There was no way credit humor.
So far, he's kind of stayed on the sidelines, but
I would not be surprised when he looks at where
the early votes are coming from in Brooklyn and everywhere
else and he realized that the ship is sailing, unless
he's not intending to run again, which might be the case,
(05:03):
by the way, I mean, Schumer's up there in age.
He did not raise a lot of money this last quarter,
which is always an indication. So maybe he's not gonna run.
Maybe he realizes the party has left me, or the
AOC is the world, just he doesn't want to go
out that way. I don't know, but he's been he
(05:28):
has not endorsed Mam Dommy. To his credit, we'll see.
I still think he will, but to his credit he hasn't.
I think that's gonna be a big indicator unless he's thinking, like,
you know what, I'm gonna own that lane. Man, Dommy's
going to be such a train wreck that I'm gonna
run as the adult in the room in a couple
of years when I run for reelection. Maybe maybe that
that's where he is because he's because AOC is clearly
(05:50):
all behind Mam DOMI. So let me this debate. I
thought Curtis did great Cuomo, and I know Colomo, but
Cuomo did good. He did good, and ma'am Dommy just
looked like a deer in the headlights. He looked like,
I can't even say triple a ball. This guy looked
(06:11):
like he was in single a playing in Binghamton and
he was just the spotlight was on him and he
was he was just exposed and he played it safe.
He was smart when he went back at Cuomo a
few times. But the guy smiles, he presents well, he's
(06:33):
well spoken. That's half the game, and he knows exactly
who he's talking to and the enthusiasm for him is
off the charts, and that's a big red flag for Cuomo.
So let me tell you about this poll that came out.
So I have been saying for weeks and weeks, why
(06:54):
is the onus on Curtis Sleewood to drop out? He's
a major party candidate, he's the Republican paraty candidate. Why
is it incumbent upon him to drop out?
Speaker 4 (07:05):
When?
Speaker 3 (07:05):
And as the argument he's making, wait a minute, Andrew,
you've been a Democrat and you've lost and it wasn't close.
You lost your primary, you were rejected by your party.
So as an independent, why are you pushing out a
major party candidate? And it's always been okay, here's a
(07:25):
three way race, makes it pretty impossible, Cuomo Curtis, they
kind of eat each other's votes up. What happens, okay, ma'am,
Dommy wins capewalk, But what happens if Curtis drops out?
Which let's just start with this ain't happening. It's so
late already. Okay, this was a fantasy by so many
that just naive thinking he was going to drop out,
(07:46):
And clearly it wouldn't have made the biggest difference. To
say that if Curtis dropped out, all of the Republican
votes would go directly to Cuomo is ignorant. Do you
now impossible it is for so many of those Republican
voters to I was gonna say, pull the lever, but
darken in that dot for Andrew Cuomo. That takes a lot,
(08:11):
and a lot of them would stay home. A lot
of them would still vote somewhere else, maybe the Conservative
Party candidate, maybe still for Curtis, maybe for Adams, and
he would get some. But I talked to a bunch
of Republicans from New York City this week, and I'm like,
so what are you doing? And I have to say
a lot of people are like, oh my god, I
don't know. I dread this. Some of them said, I'm
(08:32):
definitely voting for Curtis. Some of them said it doesn't matter,
I might not even vote. And some of them said
Cuomo reluctantly, but Cuomo, And then they're like, if I
can do it. So Cuomo's had a really difficult time.
He's made the rounds, and I look, I personally invited
(08:54):
Cuomo on this show. I called him up two weeks ago.
And spoke to him and said, I know this is
crazy because of our history, but I am inviting you
on my radio show on w R to talk to
not only me and defend some of your positions. And
I'll be very respectful, but I want to know what
(09:15):
you would do as mayor, and you need to convince
the likes of me, because that's really who you're going after,
someone like me who would never consider voting for you,
and listen to, you know, talk to our audience. I'm
glad he went on with Larry, but it it would
show a little more guts to come on with me. Anyway.
He said yes, I said, okay, great, and then he
(09:38):
ghosted me. So then I called him back the following week.
I said, what are you doing? You want to come
on or not? You know I'm gonna do it. I'll
definitely do it, Okay, talking a day or so nothing.
He wouldn't pick up my calls, wouldn't return to text.
So I called Rich as a party who is his
spokesperson and you know his the henchman, and I texted him.
(09:58):
I called him, I emailed him. He didn't have the
courtesy to get back to me, so it reminds me
of a dog that we once had. We had this
dog called Bow when I was growing up. I think
I was in high school, and Bow was a wire
haired Fox Terrier, the stupidest dog in the history of dogs.
(10:23):
This dog. All it did was bark. Every neighbor hated
this dog. We hated the dog after a while, but
it was our dog, and it was just the most annoying,
useless pet you would ever have. So I remember one day,
and this is sad, but I remember my mother saying, Okay, look,
(10:43):
we can't keep this dog anymore. Too many complaints. So
we're going to take this dog to the pound, knowing
what Unfortunately, especially back then, there we're going to do
to the dog. Curtis is not going to want to
hear this. He's on the line. I'm going to get
to him in a second. But so my mother puts
the dog in the car and drives to Briarcliff to
the shelter. And the dog, for whatever reason, was so good,
(11:07):
just the most well behaved dog, like it knew it
was going to the electric chair. And my mother was
feeling bad and she said, she goes, bo, I promise
you if you're good the entire way. I'll turn right
around and I'll take you home. Well, they got almost there.
They would stop at a light and bo sies a
dog in another car and just went ballistic, screaming and
(11:30):
jumping all over the car. That was it. My mother
went straight to the shelter. And that's reminding me of
the Republican voters right now. How am I going to
vote for Cuomo? It would be really hard to vote.
Maybe I'll listen to him, all right, I'll give him
the benefit of the doubt. And then Cuomo says something
or reminds you of what he did, and you're like, Okay,
(11:52):
time to go to the shelter. I can't vote for
this guy. Who could I vote for Curtis Leewa And
he's on the phone right now, And Curtis, I have
to tell you your debate performances. Both of them were really,
really good. Cuomo was good this time. He woke up.
It was certainly fun and interesting to watch. But I
love all these stupid calls for you to get out.
(12:13):
And as I was saying, I was just starting to
elude this and let me say this and to get
your reactions. So this poll that came out because I
always kept saying, well, wait a minute, if it's always
head to head Cuomo versus Mam Domi and Curtis has
to get out, what about do we know what would
happen if it was Curtis versus Mam Dommi and Cuomo
got out? Well, yeah, we do. A new pole just
(12:33):
came out and Mam Domi is beating Cuomo forty eight
point seven to thirty eight point five. Okay, Mam Domi
is beating Curtis forty eight nine to forty point six.
Curtis has two points better, two points better than Cuomo.
So where's the argument, Curtis? Welcome to the show. Are
(12:54):
you ready? Early voting started today.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Ask pat Rob.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
I was the first online at my polling location with
my wife Nancy. Who would have cried if she heard
that story about your job taking your dog to the shelter?
Oh God, you would have been crying for days. But
I voted, and I urged everybody to vote early because
it is available ten days early vote. And I believe
(13:22):
and I hope this will be the final nail in
the coffin of the billionaires, of the insiders and the
influencers who every five seconds are chirping away that I
got to drop out, even Cuomo himself. Imagine, Rob, you're
the candidate and you're telling your followers, who are dedicated
to you becoming the next mayor, I can't win unless.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
Curtis drops out.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
And if I happen to be a Clomo supporter and
I but I hear Curtis nine times a day saying no, no, no,
Why should I go out knock on doors, make calls
for you?
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Do lit drops eve?
Speaker 5 (13:58):
In fact, you're telling all of us you can't win.
And if Curtis saysn't dropped.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Out, Yeah, I do not get the strategy of Andrew
Cuomo this race. I mean I honestly thought, and let's
be honest, when he ran for this, or decided to
run for this, he thought this was going to be
a walk in the park, so easy. He was going
to get back in as mayor. This is his way
back into public life. And all of a sudden he
hit a buzzsaw, which he didn't expect, and he was
(14:23):
just he campaigned, if at all, but he campaigned like
it was nineteen ninety instead of the year it is.
And he was just out of his league and I'd
never thought I would say that about Cuomo, but he
just looked lost, and I don't know if he I
think at this point he realizes he's not going to
win because even if he got even if he got
(14:44):
all of your votes, which will never ever, ever, ever happen,
the undecided votes, they're not going all to him. They're
going they're undecided because they don't like what he did,
so they're like, Okay, maybe i'll vote from Mamdami.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:00):
The other thing is when he first announced on March first,
the first ball came out, Mondalmi Zoron Mondami was at
one percent. He was at the bottom of the packet
Democrats who were all playing roller derby with one another
to get the Democratic primary victory with rug he was
at one percent.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
Andrew right out of the box was at forty percent.
So in three months time, the guy who was at
one percent that only his neighbors knew suddenly became an
infamous figure to some a famous figure to others across
the world because he whipped Andrew Cmo in the primary,
beating him thirteen percent, and Cuomo right away acknowledge I
(15:42):
didn't run a good race. Rob Ascerino there was just
an article in the Post that indicated that he's been
off the campaign trail for ten days. You've been a
veteran campaigner, you know you got a campaign any every
waking moment of the day. Right now, we're at the
point twenty hours a day of a twenty four hour day,
with ten days to go, and he still is not
(16:04):
doing campaign events with the public other than moaning and
groaning that I need to drop out. It's not a
winning strategy. He's destined to lose again.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
And if anybody should drop out, it's him.
Speaker 5 (16:18):
Because I have the momentum, I have the energy, I
have the volunteers. I have to get out to vote
after which, as you know, Rob, you have to do
months in advance. He's just now putting together his get
out to vote effort.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Way too late.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Oh yeah, way too It's exactly right. So Curtis just
mentioned something really important to get out the vote campaign man,
DOMI has a very good one, right. He's got a
lot of loyal crazies, but they're going to go out
there and vote and knock on doors. Curtis has a
lot of followers, and it's about getting on It's about
(16:51):
knocking on these doors and getting your vote out. Cuomo
had a lot of money, but just running ads does
not get the vote at And he's so used to
having all of the unions and the institutional support and
the county support and all those things that once those
were taken away when he lost, it became a shell
(17:13):
of a campaign. That's why I think he I just
don't understand you. Were you surprised at the campaign he
ran against Mam Doomi. He's running this campaign on experience,
but if you just look at the polls, his negatives
are so high because people don't like what he did
as governor. He should have been ripping Mamdami's face off
every single day, taking this guy down, and he didn't.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
No, and he sacrificed so many democratic domains, typical democratic
blocks of voters, because he didn't want to leave the
protected environment of closed door meetings, closed door rallies. People
had to be given wristbands, they had to be vetted
if they were going to come into a rally.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
Come on, you got it with the negative.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
For instance, I'm in the subways every day, Rob Eschnarino,
and I'm the only candidate in the subway, So Zorhan
responded to my challenge. Every time I go in, I
challenge them coming. He rode the ar chain for a while.
He sat there, he chatted with some of the riders.
Some riders appreciated his candidacy, but others came.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Over and sat in front of the reporters.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
You f you, and one guy called him a Nazi
And he hasn't done the subway since. But Cuomo, you know,
wam He's got such a thin skin. The moment people
start saying, hey, Cuomo, you were slapping fannies and killing granny's.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Hey, he'll be running for the hills.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
What was it like after the debate, because you know,
it's always weird. I told people, I know what it's.
I know what they were thinking before the debate because
you're in that room by yourself before you're called out,
and it's like, you know, you got a little whether
it's butterfly butterflies or you know, anxiety, you just want
to get out there right. And then you're on that
stage for five minutes or whatever is before the cameras
(19:01):
go on at the top of the hour and the
debate starts. But then after the debate, it's like did
you guys. I didn't see you guys shaking hands or
talking at all, did you or everyone walk away?
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Well before the debate, I was the first out on
the stage because I wanted to test the audio because
at NBC, the first debate, which stood for the acronym,
never broadcast credits.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
They ignored me for like the first twelve minutes.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
The audio was not good, and I actually spoke up
in defense of Angel who couldn't even hear what was
going on. So I made it a point when New
York won, get out there early, test the audio, and
not just for me, for Andrew Cmo, who, as you know,
I have no love for. But you see Zorhan, he
doesn't need to hear the audio because every answer is affordability, affordability, affordability, even.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
If he didn't hear the question.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
So I went out there first, so I'm standing there, Culmo,
come miss the click, and I intend on keeping up
that promise.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
So he came over. But really what he was doing.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Was trying to telegraph to the media like, oh, we're
gonna gang up on Zorhand.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
You know, this is like team where she was working
with me.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
That was all psychological at the end, because he got
ruffed up.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
He ran right out the door.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
I thought, Bob, he doesn't want to shake hands. Doorhan
came over and shook my hands. He had sweaty hands
because he was uncharacteristically sweating and schmitzing during this debate
because we had.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Him on the ropes. But you saw what Cuomo did.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
He ran over the Madison Square garden to sit with
Eric Adams. Two corrupt birds, you know, flocking together now
in the house of Jimmy Dolan, who pays no property taxes,
who I've said, oh, you're gonna be paying property taxes now,
Jimmy to help us hire new police officers.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
So he's in.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
There, and that was the precursor to Eric Adams endorsing
him the next day, which you know, one corrupt administration.
You remember the Buffalo Billions, yep, with Joe Pacoco shaking
down vendors from the executive wing of the Legislative chambers,
(21:22):
Cuomo's office falling up saying, you owe me a box
of d that's one thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I didn't get my twenty.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
Five boxes a d that was twenty five thousand dollars.
And Eric Adams had his same guy Timothy Pearson doing
that with contracts. And look how many people were indicted
under the Buffalo billions. Nine many of them went to
jail and looked with Eric Adams, he was invited only
mail ever to be indicted, saved by the Department of Justice.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
But he's had at least eight other people indicted.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Yeah, but you know what the Adams I mean, Look,
who cares. The Eric Adams endorse means zilch to this
race and to Cuomo and the ballot poppositions that you know,
the ballid proposals that were you were asked about, all
three of you where you stand on them? And it's
an important thing for people in New York City because
(22:17):
this really is going to determine how neighborhoods are developed.
And I it's this is the worm that he is.
When ma'am Dommie, when you're all answered, you were saying, yes,
you're against this, you know, city of Yes and vote
no on it, ma'am dommie, was I have not taken
a position on that? What a fraud? Are you kidding me?
You want to be the mayor and you can't take
(22:39):
a take a position on this.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
Yeah, well, Rob, it's interesting because cmos said yes, that
the City of Yes because he's in the back pocket
of the developer. So he answered correctly, I answered correctly,
I've been against it since the beginning. No, I'm one
of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit to try to get
it repealed. That I've said as mayor, I will move
to repeal it. But Zorhan, remember what he came out
(23:05):
with about neighborhood's residential neighborhoods was that if you're white,
you ain't right. You gotta pay a special extra white tax,
which if I imagine, if I were to say, well,
Asians are buying a lot of houses now, so we're
gonna charge them extra. We're gonna charge an Asian additional tax,
(23:25):
I would have been run out of the state as
a xenophoba racist, and regularly.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
So you can't do that. But they let him get
away with that. And then on this question of the
City of Yes, he's.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
Hemming and hauling because some of them are his contributors.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
Remember they all have billionaires. I don't.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
He has his own billionaires. Some of them are developers.
But he's never gonna let you know that. When you
look at the campaign financial board contributions. You'll see some
and actually the pack money. There's others, but you know
they can shield don't depending on what pack you came
up with.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
So that's why he was vaccillating Hamming and Huy.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
And boy, I gotta I gotta tell you we double
teamed him on that. I got him first and then
Andrew got him and we spun him like a top.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Let me ask you something. This per a little personal
in that you spent your whole life, you know, with
the Guardian Angels in neighborhoods that most people don't go
to because they're afraid because it was high crime, and
a lot of the people that live in those neighborhoods
tend to be minorities, right, Black, Hispanic, whatever. And yet
in the polling, your numbers with black and Hispanic voters
(24:38):
are low. They're not they're not supporting you. They're they're
supporting Ma'm DOMI whatever. I mean. You gotta be like,
what the hell else do I gotta do? I spent
my whole life trying to help and yet you're not
supporting me?
Speaker 7 (24:50):
Right?
Speaker 5 (24:51):
A little bit of that, well, yes, especially amongst African Americans. Unfortunately,
they haven't broken out of uh the locked in situation
at thinking I can never vote for a Republican because
you're right, Rob. I go into neighborhoods in which the
only Republican they've ever seen is Abraham Lincoln on a
five dollar bill, and I get respect. I get people say, yeah,
(25:14):
that's Curtis, that's the Guardian Angel. They don't see me
as the Republican, but when they see that are it's
so ingrained not to vote Republican. We saw that even
with Donald Trump's overwhelming victory over Harris. The area I'm
doing well. In fact, I'm on my way to meet
the Dominicans for sleevework right on Dykeman in Washington Heights
(25:36):
is the growing Dominican population, which came out heavy for Trump.
He did extraordinarily well in the Latino areas in the
presidential race, especially in the Bronx and in Queens, where
as they've been a surge of Dominican population. They are
members of both parties because their country has had a
(25:57):
split political system they used to and they don't mind
voting Republican because a lot of them are very business oriented.
They'll see a square inch of property and inwood in
Washington heights and they'll figure out how to make to
turn that into a business. And they have law and order,
family oriented, you know, motivated a lot of times in
(26:18):
a religious way, you know, towards towards how they live
their lives.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
So they're voting for me.
Speaker 5 (26:24):
Now, obviously there are a lot of other Hispanics, Puerto Ricans,
they used to be the.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Majority, are no longer the majority in the city.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
They moved on up and moved on out, and so
they're replaced by other Latinos from Central America, Mexico. But
the number one group are now Dominicans. So I think
the polling is wrong with that aspect, But it is
disappointing because my biggest impediment is the r So what
I always tell them is I say, look Zorhan Mandami,
(26:52):
because nobody really knows them. He's so affable. He's smiling.
In fact, I say he's like Pinocchio. His nose doesn't grow,
his smile just gets bigger every time he lies, rob
every time he lies.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
But he's like that song Shade sang, smooth operator. Yeah,
he's smooth. He's the junior varsity to Barack Obama.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
I mean, he learned, he learned everything about being smooth,
no doubt, by watching videotape of Barack Obama. But in
the case of people, they don't know him. So I say,
imagine build a Blasio on steroids. Because people on both
sides of the aisle left this right wing as they
hate the Blazio, and I say, think of me as
(27:34):
Rudy Giuliani two point zero, who endorsed me a month
ago and has been my number one supporter with George Pataki,
even though they've.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Been lobbed by this Cuomo wing.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
You know, of the influences and the billionaires have been
trying to say, ah.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
We know everybody loves Curtis.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
It's like the show Everybody loves Raymond, but he can't win.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
And Rudy came.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Out firing his rhetorical gap gun and say, the reason
you're in a crime crisis is because of Andrew Clomo's
no cash bail raised the closing like his islet. And
as you saw in the debate, I made him the
architect and I made Zorn the apprentice because they agree
on all of.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Those issues that support criminals.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
I'm the only one that backed the blue and support
victims and people who are out there to stop crime.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Yeah, and that's why there's such an impediment to voting
for Cuomo if you're a Republican or quite frankly Democrats
who really disliked what happened during COVID or the crime
and independence, and that's why he's kind of been stuck
where he is. But you know what they've done, Curtis,
They're setting you up when Ma'm Domi wins, if he wins,
They're setting you up as the guy who made Ma'm
(28:48):
dommy win, when in fact, you know what, there's another
guy in this race, Cuomo, who had a shot and lost.
And that's how they're going to spin it. So it
doesn't matter. Nobody's dropping out. This is it is what
it is. I've been telling people for months. Nobody's dropping out, period.
So pick a team and.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Go with it.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
And today voting started. People have to decide where they
think this city should go. You got and that's why
I think there's less undecided more for you in this
poll head to head than Cuomo because they already know
about Cuomo. Okay, he's been around forever, so they already
have an opinion of him. And in the polling, it
ain't it ain't great, ma'am. Dommy's a blank slate with
(29:30):
a smile, as you said, and you know woooo and
you're more of a blank slate too, even though they
know about the Guardian Angels. But so that's why I
think you do better than Cuomo and it's less undecided.
But anyway, look, it's listen to this and tell me
what you think.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Well.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I have not been insulting to Curtis Sleebo. I don't
know Curtis Slieba. I never had a conversation with the man.
I only know what I've seen in the newspapers. So
I've never been critical of Curtis. I do believe that
Curtis cannot win this race there.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Okay, So first of all, did you ever meet Andrew
Cromo ever?
Speaker 5 (30:16):
Of course, I remember when he was going on his
listening tour after losing to Carl McCall and then dropping out,
you know, and then calling George Battaki a glorified colt holders.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
He went on this listening tour.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
He chose individuals he would meet with an hour and
just listen to him. He came the Guardian Angel headquarters.
I asked the young man and young women. Could you
please give me an hour with Andrew Cuomo. He spoke,
I spoke for forty nine minutes. He spoke for about
six minutes, and then he left a one on one meeting.
(30:53):
I had been with him because his father, when lieutenant governor,
was the first elected official to support the Guard Angels.
Say you know against said coach Andrew Como was there.
So this this statement in Italian, we have a work
for him. He's a kiakat own. He truly is the Pinocchio.
His nose gets longer, did he's so used to? And
(31:14):
remember when he was running against you, Rob, remember the statement.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
If you're pro life, yep, if your second Amendment, there's
no place for you in New York.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Leave.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
And then what I constantly remind groups who may be wavering,
this is the guy who said America was never that great.
America was never that What did he mean by that?
America has given him everything. Born on third base, with
a name that everybody knows because of his father. A
(31:46):
much better Como, I might add. And so here's a
guy who's saying America was never that great.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
Come on, we know where he is.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
And you're right, there's no difference between him and Zoraha
Mondamion's so many levels.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Yep. And you know what, I had hoped that Andrew
was going to come on after you, and I had
said earlier in the show that I had spoken with
him invited him on because I'm a big man. I said,
you know what, We've had our differences, and I'm gonna
hold your feet to the fire. And that was one
of the things I was going to ask him. You
need to apologize to Republicans and conservatives for what you
said first, and if you do that, then maybe people
(32:23):
will vote for you. But I wanted to give him
an opportunity after a little give and take, and he
told me yes twice and then he wouldn't show up,
So you know what I'm like, Look, I really care,
but I wanted to give him an opportunity. So that's that.
And look, I wish you luck, Curtis.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
People.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
You need to vote with your heart and your head
on this, and I think I think you know where
your head is at. It should never be with Mam
Dommi and probably ain't going to be with Cuomo. Your
heart you got to figure that out. Whether you know,
do you love New York city. You better get out
there and vote. And I don't think there's a wasted
vote here. I don't, I really don't. And so vote
(33:02):
your convictions, vote for whoever you think is better of
those three. I know one a'h and I think a
second one ain'ight. And it leaves only one left. And
he's on the phone with me right now, Curtis.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
Good luck to you, and thank you for putting that
word out. Everybody must vote, even if you're not voting
for me. Men died in battle YEP, so we'd have
free speech and the right to vote, exercise it exactly.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Good luck, Curtis, Thank you, Rob. All right, Curtis, leiwa
on the Rob Astrino Show here on seven to ten.
Wor by the way, that other station that he mentioned,
that other station, how do you say you're a conservative
radio station? If you formally endorse Andrew Cuomo. It's one
(33:46):
thing to have him on the air, that's a public service.
We should be putting all of them on the air.
It's another to formally endorse. You better think about what
they stand for. Another position on the dial?
Speaker 4 (34:00):
All right?
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Uh, whoa wow? We blew for forty minutes already, okay,
one hundred three two one zero seven ten. That's for sure.
One hundred three two one zero seven ten. I'll try
to seek your calls in here. My question really is
all right, voting started today. Have you voted? Who did
you vote for? And a quick why? And are you
(34:24):
still undecided? Okay, I mean it's pretty easy at this point.
This is it. We've started the voting. One hundred three
two one zero seven ten. And don't don't come out, please, Curtie.
You got it. It's over. Nobody's dropping out. This is it.
It is what it is. Deep Material Contracting. They you
(34:45):
should count on them for all of your roofing solutions.
And by the way, it's not just roofs that they do.
It's windows and gutters and siding, all different types of siding.
By the way, they they repair chimneys. I didn't even
know this, but they told me, hey, we do painting too.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
I didn't even know that.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
They do a lot of good stuff. Deep Material Contracting.
You can get a free estimate on any of the
work you need done at your house, big or small
nine one four four oh nine, seven oh six oh
nine one four four oh nine, seven oh six oh
or go to Roofcontractors New York dot com Roofcontractors New
(35:27):
York dot com for deep Poterio contracting. All right, your
calls next one in hundred three two one zero seven ten.
One in hundred three two one zero seven ten. Early
voting also started in New Jersey. Make sure you get
out there and vote for Jack Chittarelli. One in one
(35:48):
hundred three two one zero seven ten. Your call's next.
On The rob Astorino Show on seven ten. Wo R
Lost in Space. Remember that show, the original My favorite
of all time. Seriously, I dv R It's on me
TV tonight or early tomorrow morning. I guess like two
in the morning, and I watch it every Sunday and
(36:10):
my wife and kids make fun of me all the
time because I'm watching Lost in Space, which is what
I grew up on, and I'm sad because it just
about an hour ago. June Lockhart, who was Maureen Robinson,
the mom She just died at the age of one hundred.
She was in Lassie and of course Lost in Space,
(36:31):
so many other things, but another piece of the childhood
Gonzo with Maureen Robinson. Hey, a quick shout out. We
went last Saturday right after the show. I boogied on
home because we had an engagement party for my cousin
Ryan and Alessia. They're gonna get married. And we were
(36:53):
at Tarmanina Tarmina restaurant or territoria in Peakskill, right on
Hudson Avenue, and Anthony Pietro Santi and his wife Laura
big fans of this show. They listen all the time.
They listened to the podcast, so I wanted to shout
out and say hello to them. Anthony and Laura wonderful
(37:13):
restaurant Tarmina Trattoria in Peak Skill. All right, let me
get your phone calls here one eight hundred and three
two one zero seven ten. The lines are jammed, so
tell me quickly. You got to be kind of quick.
So I want to get to as many people as possible.
I got other things to do, too, But I want
to know if you have voted already, Day one early
voting Jersey and New York. And if so, who or
(37:35):
if you are still undecided? Why let's start with Jim
and Nutley, New Jersey. Go ahead, Jim.
Speaker 8 (37:42):
Live, New Jerseys. I'm not able to vote, but I
did sink curis a donation. But for the other station
been stamping in him in the back for months. I
don't think they really want him to win.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
All along, No, they don't.
Speaker 8 (37:53):
For all you fellow Republicans, stick with Curtis.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Did you vote for Chiarelli yet?
Speaker 8 (38:00):
I'm going to.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Okay, good, all right, Jim, thanks for that call. Let's
go to Pam and Brooklyn. Pam, Did you vote yet?
Speaker 9 (38:10):
Day Rob? But I will be voting for Curtis because
nothing can steer me away from him. He's the best
candidate as far as I'm concerned. And I also want
to thank you and your station for being so kind
to him. He deserves all the kindness and respect in
the world for his campaign, and shame on the other station.
I hope he never goes back there. And I just
(38:31):
feel go Curtis.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
All right, thank you? Okay, I know, look anybody again.
As I said, the reason why I reached out to
Andrew Cuomo and he and I have a bad history together.
I ran against him in fourteen. We butted heads a
million times on political reasons and governmental reasons. I fought
him when he tried to and successfully close Indian Point.
(38:55):
Now we're all paying the price on that, on higher
electric rates, I mentioned that at the time he skirted
the law and do an environmental impact statement, which is
what I was going to court for. None of the Democrats,
all these environmentalists would would back me on that because
they got their marching orders from him. So you know, substantively,
I have a big disagreement with Cuomo, but I wanted
(39:18):
him on this show because I wanted him to have
an opportunity to talk to Republicans and people and to
try to get you know, make the case, get the
vote if you want it. And he said yes, and
then he then he didn't. So I mean, that's that's
on him. Let's go to let's see George and Rockland County.
(39:38):
So Ed Day, my good friend is running for reelection
this year. Ed should win. He's running against an independent.
But George, how are you?
Speaker 10 (39:47):
I'm great, Thanks for taking my goals. So you know,
I think that is the machief petrified for having a
Republican streets Curtis is running because it's really shakes them.
Speaker 8 (40:05):
I got.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Unfortunately, unfortunately I gotta let you go. The line was
really bad. You were dropping out the entire time.
Speaker 9 (40:14):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
Let's see Jerry in New Jersey. Jerry did you vote.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Oh yes, I did, uh Twitter to rally all the way.
Speaker 7 (40:23):
A quick question, do you think their means.
Speaker 11 (40:26):
Testing Cuomo to see if he can run for Schumer's
senden see.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Well against so A good, good question, Jerry, Thanks for
the call. I think what's gonna happen here is Cuomo
is gonna lose. They're gonna blame as I said, They're
gonna blame Curtis. So that's gonna keep Cuomo alive.
Speaker 4 (40:45):
You know, I would have won the race if the
Curtis wasn't it. I would have won.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
And then will he come back and try to come
back either against Hochel or or maybe line the weeds
against Schumer if Schumer decides not to run, which I
think is a I think it's a good possibility. And
then Cuomo tries to take on aoc It's possible. I mean,
I think it's gonna be really tough. The way he
left as governor and then got slacked in the primary
(41:14):
and loses the race, it's gonna be hard. But who
knows with with Cuomo. Let's go to Doug in Westchester. Hi, Doug,
I hope you're voting for Christine Sculty for county executive.
Speaker 12 (41:28):
Well, I'll stay mom on that. But with regards to
regards to the New York City race, Curtis was just
on and he said that he expressed some regret that
he doesn't have more support among the black and Hispanic
population in New York City. Uh, you know, given his
uh you know, pretty much endorsement of the police, and
(41:51):
and he's fighting crime over the decades with the Guardian Angels.
And I will be quick to point out two things.
Number one, it's not surprised that blacks and Hispanics have
not been so endorsele and you know, pretty much willing
to back the Republican candidate on the basis of law
and order in so far as that most of the
crime in New York City's committed by blacks and Hispanics.
(42:14):
And number two, with reguard of the police, you know,
the woke agenda has infected the department to the point
where sixty percent of the NYPD is now composed of minorities. Again,
the same people who commit most of the crime in
New York City.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
Well, and statistically you're right, yep, but they also live
in neighborhoods that need help. And Curtis was the one
that has been with them, you know, as a private
citizen when New York City was so damn bad, and
he's the one that's saying, look, here's what I'm going
to do. He had a specific plan and it was
going to be, you know, very much different than Mam Domi. Cuomo,
(42:54):
to his credit, was a little law in order. But Cuomo,
to his discredit, caused a lot of this problem when
he did the no cash bail stuff and came up
with a million excuses why but he did it because
he didn't have the cojones to stick up to the
Wakaduo's on the left. All right, hold on, folks, I
know you're calling in like crazy, which is great. One
(43:15):
one hundred and three, two, one zero seven ten. I
want to bring in my friend Anthony Morante for two
minutes because he is running for reelection as a councilman
in Yonkers and he's the last Republican on the on
the city council. So he is like the last best
hope for anyone in that city to have any honesty
(43:36):
and know what's going on because it becomes all democratic.
Forget it. Anthony, how you doing on this first day
of early voting.
Speaker 7 (43:45):
Well, I voted. I know I got one. I got one.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
Vote, you got two. My father's voting for you.
Speaker 7 (43:50):
Okay, we go. Still working on my wife though. So
the answer Robbins were working very hard. They're working very hard.
They're all out for me. The mayor needs my seat
because he's I think he's concerned that he doesn't have
his four votes to change term limits again. So they're
they're stending, they're throwing everything at me. I'm just waiting
to see what kind of junk comes out. But I'm
(44:12):
working hard every day, every night. I got a good
crew of people. And listen, we were working like we're
you know, like we're five to ten points behind. That's
what I'm going to do that till nine o'clock on
the fourth.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
That's what you always have to do. He's the hardest worker,
uh a CPA. So actually he understands the budget and
he's been a voice of reason in a city that
has just been overtaken by the left in Yonkers with
a mayor that has gone along with the crowd. So,
I you know, if you're your district encompasses what area
(44:44):
of Yonkers.
Speaker 7 (44:45):
Oh my goodness, it's all it's all over rot we go.
We go start on off of Central Avenue, work out
Way all the way down to Warburton Avenue on the
north side of Yonkers. We pretty much go like a
big big V from from Central Avenue and tuck whole
road and we just take off all of all of
North Yaka's at that particular point. So it's a it's
a it's a it's a it's a big broad uh uh,
(45:09):
you know, territory, very very big.
Speaker 3 (45:12):
What's the website.
Speaker 7 (45:14):
Maranthi for Yakers Maranthifyakas dot com. Questions info at Maranthi
for Yakas dot com. Just google that and you'll get
whatever you need to know about me and get a
hold of me if you have any questions, because we
can use every all the help we can get, whether
it be financial or come on out and take some
signs and let's just keep going. But just no, don't
stop it. I to get out of my way.
Speaker 4 (45:33):
So good.
Speaker 7 (45:34):
We just gotta keep going going fort with. We're working hard.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
Counsel Counselman Anthony Moranti from Yonkers.
Speaker 7 (45:40):
Good luck, my friend, Thank you, mister ask Rena. I
look forward to seeing you sometime in the near future.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
Well, I I look forward to shaking your hands after
you win re election. God bless.
Speaker 7 (45:50):
All right, we'll be we'll we'll be at you be
honest with.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
The victory party.
Speaker 3 (45:54):
There you go, excellent. All right, let's go back to
the phones quick one zero seven ten. Let's go to
Barbara in Rockaway. Barbara, have you voted in New York City?
Speaker 2 (46:04):
Yes?
Speaker 11 (46:05):
I just got done with it, and I voted for Curtis.
I'm a registered Democrat, but not for long. And I
voted for Curtis under the protect the animals line.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Oh you're the one that did that. Okay, good for you.
Speaker 11 (46:21):
But let me I grew up in Kanasi. I know
Curtis from Kanasi. Back then, he was a wild kid.
He's become a wonderful man. He's dedicated, he loves this city.
The other two and we wanted to talk.
Speaker 2 (46:34):
About Cuoma work for the police departments.
Speaker 7 (46:36):
You know what I think about Cuomo.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
There you go, Barbara. All right, let's go to Ivan
in Brooklyn. Hey, Ivan, how you doing or is it about?
Speaker 13 (46:45):
I just wanted to call and remind your listeners that
Andrew once said New York Is America wasn't so great
and that stuck good in my mind. I'll never forget it.
I went to the High Hospital for COVID and he
moved me to a nursing home. But thank God, God
allowed me to survive. So I just chime in, flee
(47:09):
Wa all the way once again. I'm a registered Democrat,
but I'm a Republican, voting all my life. Flee Wa
all the way. Remember New York ausse Clomo said America
was never that great?
Speaker 3 (47:26):
All right, I think that was Curtis. All right, let's
let's go to Teresa in the Bronx. Teresa, how'd you vote?
Speaker 14 (47:34):
I vote for card Curtis today. I'm so happy. I
saw him at the Columbus A parade on Morris Park
a couple of weeks ago. I shook his hand, I
told him, and I also voted for Christy Mamorado.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
Yeah. Good show, good.
Speaker 14 (47:45):
Yeah, I'm so happy. I'm really really, I really, I'm praying,
and my whole family's praying honywins because I don't want
to leave the Bronx.
Speaker 3 (47:52):
I know, I know, Teresa, Thanks so much, Paul and
the Bronx as well. Hey Paul, you're on the rob
Astorino Show. How you doing.
Speaker 15 (48:02):
How you doing. I'm a retired in ypt detective. Most
silly phrases like mobsters choking on a lobsters. New York
sitting in four years is going to look like goand
with all the crime and out of control prompts.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
And luckily my people are.
Speaker 15 (48:18):
Fighting back in Ireland and Belfast and Dublin against the
Islamic concursion.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
Paul, thanks for the call. All right, let's see Sondra
in New Jersey. By the way, Sandra, just so we
can plug it. I'm going to be speaking at the
Women's National Republican Club on November eleventh, which is Veterans Day,
so it's an easy day to drive into the city, folks.
(48:48):
Tickets are like really cheap, and I can't wait to
be there that night to talk about the elections. Who
did I'm assuming did you vote yet in Jersey?
Speaker 16 (48:58):
No, I'm waiting till November four I want to do
on that day. I get most excited on the real day.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
You're voting for Chitarelli.
Speaker 16 (49:08):
Of course, I put the lawn flyers in all the
gardens in my surrounding neighborhood. I started doing it, and
I asked him to send me twenty more. So yeah,
I'm helping.
Speaker 3 (49:18):
Thank you, Sandra. All right, Jim and Union, New Jersey,
you're the last one. Did you vote yet?
Speaker 8 (49:26):
No?
Speaker 2 (49:27):
I did him by jackets back, and that's all the counts.
Speaker 15 (49:31):
But I wanted to say something about June Lockhart because
I watched.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Everything she was in. I watched lastly as a kid.
I watched Austin's face.
Speaker 6 (49:41):
I watched all her stuff and I was always glad
to read about her.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
And she looked greater and I didn't know she was
a hundred.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
Yeah, God bless her.
Speaker 2 (49:50):
It it bothers me.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
Thank you for the call, Jim. God bless June Lockhart.
I'm going to dedicate this show to her. Make sure
you get out and vote, Okay, New York, that you're
