Speaker 1 (00:00):
This hour of programming on seven ten double R. He's
sponsored by Toyota City and Mamaranac and Nissan City of
port Chester, proud members of the Integrity Automotive Group. Now
former Westchester County executive. Rob Astorina on seven ten WR.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Finally really did it?
Speaker 3 (00:26):
You man?
Speaker 4 (00:30):
You flow up?
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Dn you.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
God m Yeah, we did it. We did it, not me,
probably not you, But they did it, and they're gonna
find out how expensive free really is. Really did they did?
(00:58):
And we're gonna live with it. So let's get on
the couch and I will I will at least talk
you through this, because I do think there are some
bright spots. There are some there's some path forward, and
it wasn't all brutal on Tuesday, which is of course
(01:20):
how it's being spun. No solace. If you live in
New York City, you're stuck with that jerk. But that's it,
And welcome to the best fifty five minutes of your weekend. Hey,
it's Rob Astarno here on seven ten wor one in
hundred three to two one zero seven ten, one in
hundred three two one zero seven ten. All right, so
(01:41):
let's go through it, because there's there is a lot
to talk about, obviously, So ma'm Domi not a surprise, certainly,
not to me if you've been listening to this show
for the months and months and months. I said before
the primary that ma'm Domi was going to catch and
beat Cuomo. He'd and then from that point on there
(02:02):
was not a doubt in my mind that ma'am Domi
was going to win this race. And you know what,
he got lucky to going up against Cuomo because Cuomo
was such a bad candidate. He had so much baggage
behind him, he couldn't move and New Yorkers realized that.
(02:23):
So Mam Domi was very fortunate because he had he
had an enemy, a symbol that was so easy to
just distract everybody. Look over there, look over there, it's
Donald Trump, and it was, oh yeah, I hate him too,
(02:44):
and that was it. That was the race. All he
had to do is hate on Trump and that was
good enough for over fifty percent of the voters. So
Cuomo was a terrible campaign. I think in his head
it was nineteen ninety, it was like twenty ten, whatever
(03:06):
it was. It was a long time ago. Because that's
the race he ran. It was just he was almost
like out of his league. It was almost weird. I
don't want to say sad, because I have I would
not have voted for him. And I know a lot
of Republicans ended up just holding their nose and then
(03:26):
just scrubbing themselves in a shower afterwards after they voted
for Andrew Cuomo. But they felt they had to, and
Trump gave them a pass to do so. But in
the end it wasn't enough, and it was never gonna
be enough. And for you who voted for Cuomo because
you felt you had to, how do you feel today?
(03:46):
Because Cuomo wasn't going to get you to the Promised
Land in any way, shape or form. Cuomo was just
as much of a problem as ma'm Domi. When you
think about it, Cuomo would have got in there, and
what would he have done. He would have slowed down
the acceleration of the decline of New York City and
(04:08):
New York State which he put in motion. Do you
really think anything would have been that much different? It
wasn't if you looked at the debates, I mean, other
than him saying, you know, attacking rightfully so the anti
Semitism and going after Mam Domi for that. Other than that,
I mean, you know, raise your hand if you hate Ice,
if you think Ice are thugs that they should never
(04:28):
have showed up on Canal Street. Cuomo raised his hand.
I mean he was the same, basically the same as
Mam Domi, just he's incapable of smiling and Mam Domi
that's that's his sweet spot. He's thirty four years old
and he knows how to play the game, and he
was smart enough to sweet talk New Yorkers into the mayoralty.
(04:53):
But when you think about it in the end, again,
like I don't want Cuomo with a capitulator, and that's
what he it was, that's what he was. He's the
one that caused all this and now he wanted to
come in and be the hero. Uh ah. So if
I were to vote in New York City, if I
had to vote, I would not have voted for Cuomo.
(05:13):
I would have voted for Curtis Sliwa and for the
eight percent that did. And that's the difference because when
you took the numbers, okay, it wasn't like when Curtis
was on the first time and he said, well, I'm
coming into this with twenty eight percent because that's what
I got last time. No you're not, you got three.
It's a whole new dynamic and he was just never
able to get over the hump. And so look, ma'm
(05:37):
Dommi with his fifty one percent when Lowry meant. He
was here last week and we were chatting about what
we thought was going to be the final numbers, and
I said that ma'm Domi was going to win. There
was no question about it. I wasn't even worried, and
I think I didn't think it was going to be close.
At that poll that came out last week, that was
a fishy pole that had Cuomo within four points the
(06:00):
margin of error, and though it could be tied, come on,
please that there was no way that was happening. That
was a manipulated poll to you know, scare people or
to excite people. But in the end, ma'am Domi did
what he needed to do and you can't beat the
volunteer army that he had and Cuomo didn't. And that's
(06:21):
what we were talking about. The Cuomo had the Cuomo
had the air attack, he had all the money he
needed for ads. But in the end that while we
get you so far, you still have to get on
the ground, knock on doors. Commercials don't do that. People do,
and ma'm DOMI had the people. To his credit, they're ignorant,
but to his credit, they wore their stupid orange Mam
(06:42):
Dommy shirts and got out there have no idea what
they voted for. And I am I am utterly shocked
at the at the people that I have talked to.
My wife as well, she works in New York City.
The people that we have spoken to that voted for
Mam Dommy, I thought they were sensible. But in the
(07:05):
end they got swept up in this idiocy that is
the Mamdami effect. So Cuomo didn't have a shot. You know,
in the end, I'm kind of glad he lost. It's
over with, it's done. He did not deserve this. He
ran a crappy campaign, one of the worst I've seen
in a long time. I was surprised. I thought he
(07:26):
would do better than that. And you know what, give
him credit because he was able to get into the forties.
He convinced with the winking a nod from Trump, he
convinced enough people to vote for him when they never,
ever in their right mind, would have done so. But
this was so unique, but he still lost by what
(07:47):
nine points, ten points whatever it was. So when Larry
meant he who does our morning show of course six
a to ten a every Monday through Friday. When Larry
was here last Saturday with me, we gave our predictions
and I said, ma'm Dommy will get forty eight, but
probably over fifty that I think he'll get'll get an
(08:10):
outright majority. Now I had Cuomo ad I think I
said thirty four if I remember correctly, thirty two or
thirty four, and Curtis at eighteen. And so what happened was,
you know, that ten point shift just went from went
from Curtis and appealed right off to Cuomo. That's how
we got that point, you know, to get over forty.
(08:32):
But it's over with, it's done, a lot of lessons
to be learned here, Mam DOMMI tapped into something that
is real. Trump tapped into something that is real, and
people are just they're angry and they're scared. I just saw.
Do you know what the average age is now of
a first time home buyer in America? This is pretty shocking.
(08:54):
Forty forty. The average age is a forty year old
buying their first home. I mean, go back a generation
or two. You're getting out of your mama's basement and
you're getting out there, you're getting a job, and you're
buying something. It's just that's not happening right now, and
that's part of the frustration. So all these cuckoos are
(09:15):
down in Puerto Rico right now for what's called the
Somos event, which in twenty thirteen, after I won reelection
for county executive and I was going to run for
governor in fourteen, which I ended up doing, it was
like a must you gotta go to Somos down in
Puerto Rico because all the all the people, the who's
(09:37):
who are down there. Well, it's a who's who have left,
it's a who's who of nonprofits, it's a who's who
of people who will never ever vote for a Republicans.
So in the end, I got kind of like a
free trip to Puerto Rico for a few days. But
I was the skunk in the party. I'm walking around
saying Hi. Nobody wanted to talk to me. They all
knew I was going to run for governor. Not one
(09:58):
person wanted to be seen with me. A picture taking
me talk to me because they knew Cuomo would probably
shoot them in the head if he found out they
were talking to me down there. So this Mam Domi
and hokl are down in Puerto Rico right now just
talking to all the crazies about how much crazier should
we get. And that's what's on the agenda down in
(10:21):
Puerto Rico. Cuomo got And here's the good news. Cuomo
got eight hundred and fifty thousand votes. As we go
into next year's gubernatorial in New York with Elie Stephonic
dot dot dot or Bruce Blakeman Stefanic, who I love
and I've known her since twenty fourteen when I ran
(10:41):
so I was, you know, campaigning for the first time
up in the North Country. I didn't know anybody up
there in those counties, like you know, Clinton and Essex
and Saint Lawrence and all those counties up there that
you've probably never heard of if you've never left New
York City. But I went up there and here's this
young this young woman who is running for Congress. And
(11:02):
that's the first time we met so eleven years ago,
and we campaigned together and we got to know each
other and we hit it off and we've been friends
ever since. And so at last Fonic, who you know,
has probably more more colonies than a lot of the
men in the room, and that's what we need. We
need somebody who's going to go right at it. But
(11:24):
she can raise a hell of a lot of money. Now,
the problem is she's from the North Country, where there's
not a lot of people. Bruce Blakeman has said, well, look, hey, wait,
I just came off a major win in Nassau, and
it was a major win, and it was a bright spot,
and it was a roadmap, it's a path forward. You
think Nasau is all read just because they've voted Republican
(11:44):
the last several cycles, it's still a democratic county. Now
there's one hundred thousand more Democrats in Nassau then Republicans.
So Blakeman in many ways, in a year where Democrats
kind of ruled the rust the odds, he won, and
he won comfortably too. So Blakeman said, well, wait a minute,
(12:06):
hold on a second. Here, I'm in Nassau where there's
a hell about a lot of the votes. You gotta
win Nasau and Suffolk if you're gonna win statewide, and
he's looking at running for governor too, which he kind
of did. He flirted with about a year ago, he
started making the rounds upstate, but he was smart to
run for reelection. So I think in the end, though,
(12:26):
it's gonna be it's gonna be Trump's decision. Trump loves
them both. He called Bruce Blakeman on election night after
his win. He knows Elise at least got a little
screwed obviously when she was his nominee to be ambassador
to the United Nations. And then they figured out, wait
a minute, we it's so close in Congress, in the House.
We need your we need your vote. We can't take
(12:46):
the shot of having be you know, be down a
vote or potentially losing this in an off year election.
So he pulled a nomination, which obviously was not easy
for a lease But now she's in a really good position,
and you know, my guess is she will be the nominee.
But I think Blakeman would be a great candidate as well.
(13:08):
But we're fortunate at this time to have two really
good Republican candidates. We can't go wrong with either one
of them. So but the path is there, that's what
I'm saying, you got eight hundred and fifty thousand people
who crossed over. These are not you know, these are
eight hundred fifty thousand people who did not vote Democratic line.
(13:29):
They crossed over. They wanted nothing to do with, Mam DOMI. Now,
if it's a Lease or Bruce whomever, you got to
go hunting for those eight hundred and fifty thousand votes.
You're not going to get all of them. A lot
of them will go back to the normal, they'll go
back to Hokuel or whatever. But there are people there
who are persuadable. Now go get them, because in the end,
(13:51):
a Republican's got to get about depending on the turnout.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
But.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Thirty to thirty three percent of New York City, that
ain't easy. But it's there. Trump showed it's there, MA'MDOMI
showed there's a there's an anti there. So hopefully, hopefully
we start off the right way and uh, you know,
we come together and we can win that Jack Chitdarelli.
(14:20):
I'm so upset. I really wanted Jack to win this race,
and I thought he could. You know, he ran a
perfect race in so many ways, he ran such a
good race. He did what was supposed to be done.
He identified and pounded home five issues and that was it.
He had a horrible candidate to run against, Jackie. Jackie
(14:41):
I always do this because he was the former football
coach in college, Mikey Sheryl. He ran against her. She
was just pathetic and like Jay Jones, the AG candidate
in Virginia who fantasized about pulling putting bullets in Republican
heads and their kids, it didn't matter. The zombies were
(15:04):
coming out and they were going to vote straight down
the Democratic line, and they did that. But I really
thought jack based on what he did four years ago
and the mood of the electra, I mean, they are
so sour on Murphy and the Democrats who caused all
these issues in New Jersey, everything they're complaining about, and
yet what do they do again? They go out and
(15:28):
vote for the Democrat because this time it'll be different,
they won't taxes as much. But I really thought that
Shitarelli was going to do well or well enough in
Bergen and Passaic and Essex, even though Newark was there.
I thought he was going to cut into the lead
in Essex a little bit, which was really where he
got crushed in four years ago, and also in Hudson
(15:52):
County that's where he lost the race last time, by
one hundred and sixty seven thousand votes in those four counties,
and he did well, I swear. But you combine that
with the enrollment over the last four years, the Republicans
have gained almost one hundred and seventy thousand new voters
in Jersey. Democrats lost about forty thousand. That's over two
(16:14):
hundred thousand in the in the switch. And yet it
didn't matter because Democrats came out in just huge numbers
because Orange man bad and that was it. Yep, you
fly out, you did you did? N you?
Speaker 5 (16:36):
God?
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Yeah, all right, so this is your turn now. One
one hundred and three two one zero seven ten. Are
there bright spots in this You see any bright spots?
Or are you just like, oh my god, depressed, upset, angry?
Tell you a little uncle Robbie. Right now, we're gonna
get on the couch. Oneted hundred three to two one
(17:01):
zero seven ten. One eed hundred three two one zero
seven ten. I gotta tell you about deep material contracting.
So they do roofs, and they just did my roof
and my house looks sparkling new. I never realized what
a difference the roof really makes. I'm talking about like
(17:23):
when you're flying over in a plane looking down. I'm
talking like just driving up the road looking at a house.
Because my roof was old and it was kind of crappy,
and it was fine. I mean it no leaks, but
we're just dirty and old looking. I don't know how.
We've owned the house twenty years, so it was probably
thirty years before the roof was replaced. Anyway, they came
by in two days. Everything looks sparkling brand new on
(17:47):
my roof and on my garage with this nice pewter gray.
It just it makes such a difference. And it was affordable,
and they were great. They were in and out, very professional,
deep material contracting they do. I was talking to when
he came over my house and I'm like, you do this,
you do that? He goes yeah. I said, I didn't
(18:08):
know that. I'm doing your commercials. I know you do roofing, siding, gutters, windows,
but I didn't know you did patios. I didn't know
you did this. He goes yeah. You know, we get
this question all the time, people like do you do
and we're like, yeah, we do it, and they do
so anyway called deep material Contracting or look them up
online Roofcontractors new York dot com. Roofcontractors New York dot
(18:30):
com for Deep Bterio Contracting. All right, I'm gonna take
your calls in just a moment. I'm really interested to
see what you think. Is this like, okay, this was
supposed to happen. I'm okay with it. This guy's gonna
screw up so badly it's gonna be helpful to us,
or oh my god, the cancer of socialism is growing.
(18:51):
This is just horrible. One hundred three two one zero
seven ten one eede hundred three two one zero seven
ten The rob Astorino Show on seven ten wo R
one in one hundred and three to two one zero
seven ten. If you want to call in and complain,
you got to get something off your chest, or you're
scared at what happened this past Tuesday. I think there's
(19:14):
good and bad as it just explained. I'd like to
hear what you think. And some people like I just
had a friend in Texas. He texted me like, the
hell with them all, screw you? When are you moving
to Texas. Let the place burn down. Who cares? But
some of us got to live here. Toyota City. Make
sure if you are in the mood or have a
(19:36):
need for a new car or a used vehicle, you
might want to call Toyota City right in Mamarnick in
Westchester County. They got all models and trims in stock.
Lease rates the much more favorable today than they were,
you know, a couple months ago because the interest rates
are coming down. So check out their financing offers. They're
(19:57):
transparent pricing, no hidden fees. Isn't that the worst? You know,
when they go through all the contract stuff at the
end you're signing, you're like at their mercy that they're
telling you the truth because you're not reading it. At
least they're they're very honest, so they're not gonna sneak
anything in there. Head over to Toyota City. Be part
of the family. What family, the Integrity Automotive Group family.
(20:20):
And I am also a member because I got my
vehicle from them as well. So stop by or look
up online and look at all the cars there, the
light trucks, the SUVs. You want it, they got it.
That is Toyota City in Mamori. Go to Toyota CITYENY
(20:41):
dot com Toyota CITYNY dot com one eight hundred three
two one zero seven ten. One eight hundred three to
two one zero seven ten. A couple lines open right now.
We've got a whole bunch lined up to talk to
and I'd love to talk to you as well. I
have to tell you I got a great mcdonnald's story
that I want to I want to get to Bruce.
(21:03):
Make sure you get you. Get on that microphone in
my ear and tell me later. Rob reminder about the
McDonald story. Can you do that? Practice really not in
that voice, but it's close.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
Right.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
We got you, We got you covered. Okay.
Speaker 7 (21:19):
Good.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
People want to talk to you now they do, all right.
One one hundred three two one zero seven ten. We
will start with with Sondra in New Jersey, and Sondra,
I will see you. I can't wait to meet you.
I will see you Tuesday night at the Women's National
Republican Club in the heart of Manhattan, right across from
Saint Patrick's where I am going to be. Uh, I
guess the so called featured speaker. But we're gonna have
(21:42):
a little forum on the elections a little Q and A.
It'll be fun six o'clock, right.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Yeah, absolutely, six o'clock.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
And everyone's gonna have a lot of questions for you
going forward. You know, Rob, you said something before that.
I like, first you said we have a lot of
lessons to learn from what took place, but really now
we also have to be proactive and go further. And
I like your your I'm very happy you know at
(22:09):
least Dephonics because a lot of people are excited by her,
and I have to get to know the other candidate, Bruce,
and I'll learn more about him. But in the meanwhile,
I'm thinking, Rob, we have to use stalling tactics with
our mandami mayor, so like, for instance, rend guidelines Board.
(22:32):
I believe Eric Adams already got four more people in
that will help us with that. And then I learned
correct me if I'm wrong. The free bust thing is
not going to really happen for another year or two
because there are so many loopholes to go through. So
if we could stall things and then get a lease
in there as governor, that would be my wish. Oh
(22:52):
that would be awesome. Maybe we'll be okay, what.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Do you think that?
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Thanks? For the Cassandra looked forward to seeing you Tuesday
night and people, I think you can show up at
the door. I don't know, but like thirty bucks right
something is it's cheap just in case people want to
twenty five What a bargain. Okay, thank you, Sondra. All right,
so this is two things on Mam Domi. All right,
if the free bust thing, he needs the MTA's approval.
(23:19):
They're they're never gonna go for this unless the state
gives them extra money. I wouldn't want to be hokal
going into next year because she is in a tough spot.
She deserves it, but she is in a tough spot
because she's running for reelection. She needs Mam Dommi's energy
and supporters to come out to vote for her because
(23:40):
she's kind of like Cuomo. She's the female version of Cuomo.
Like you know, they see a white woman moderate, somewhat moderate,
or she's a kook and she's got no guts. No,
she had no brains either, but she got no guts
and she's gonna she's not gonna know what to do
because if she goes ol Mam Domi, she's gonna really
turn off the suburbs, but at what price? At New
(24:03):
York City price. She needs a huge turnout of New
York City. That's where the Democrats win state ride. So, uh,
this is gonna be fun to watch. He's gonna build
a Blasio wrote an article advice imagine build a Blasio
giving advice, but Deblasio wrote something. I think it was
the Nation magazine, but he's His advice to Mamdami is
(24:26):
do everything you can get the big stuff done in
the first year. And in order to do that, though,
she he's gonna need Hokeel support. So Hokel doesn't want
to do anything to laughter November and then it's like
who cares. But Mamdami's gonna be like no, no, no, no, no,
no no no no, I need stuff done. And he's
(24:47):
got leverage because he's gonna be like, Okay, you don't
want I just got elected. This was my agenda. If
you don't want to help me, I'm not helping you
in November, and she's gonna just crap her pants. So
this is gonna be really really it's gonna be horrible
because you, me and everybody in New York City, we're
gonna pay the price here because she's gonna give whatever
she has to and he's gonna extract whatever he wants.
(25:11):
One hundred and three to two, one zero seven ten
one other thing. I love all this. You know, Curtis
cost us the race. Curtis cost us the race. If
Curtis had just.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
Gotten out, you see, Cuoma would have beaten n Domi.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
You don't know, simple math never would have happened. First
of all, MA'MDAMMI already got a majority, he got over
fifty percent. And if Cuomo squeezed every last drop out
of what Republican support he was going to get. And
by the way, he did not earn your vote. If
(25:50):
you're a Republican, you were just scared of mam Domi.
Cuomo didn't do anything to earn your vote, and yet
you still gave it to him. But Curtis's eight percent
would not have gone to Cuomo. It's not math, folks,
it's it's elections. Those eight percent basically said, hell, I'd
(26:10):
rather jump off of the triborough bridge than give my
vote to Andrew Cuomo. So they would have just stayed home,
or they would have voted even a Cuomo dropped. I mean,
Curtis dropped out, they still would have voted for Curtis,
or they would have bron up for the Conservative or
maybe Adams, who got one percent. By the way, so
it's stop this hole. It's Curtis's fault. Nonsense, that's not
(26:34):
how it works. Let's go down to North Carolina. Kathy,
fellow New Yorker. How are you, Kathy fell I say,
fellow New Yorker, because it's still part of you that
is a New Yorker even though you fill it.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
That's exactly right. Hi, Bruce, thanks for putting us on.
I am just I do need to get on the
couch because I want to talk about Snap, which has snapped.
I just realized the other day. First of all, the
history of SNAP, which was food stamps, not even set
up to give people free food. It was set up
(27:08):
to help the farmers and the grocery of people that
weren't getting any customers, so they gave it out to
help them because nobody was buying anything. So whatever, but
I just hear. I think what pushed me over the
edge was when they said that the children were starving
within the first day. First of all, I want to
remind you that children go to school for free any child,
(27:31):
doesn't matter if they are illegal or whatever. Number Two,
they don't get one just one meal, they don't get
just two meals. They get three free meals a day.
And on the weekend we pack them often at packs
worth of food to bring home because we don't want
them to quote unquote starve on the weekend. I'm just
(27:53):
beyond upset about the whole This is a free benefit,
and you're acting like we have you know, taken away
Social Security, which we've paid into. If that were true,
that would be upsetting. This is a free benefit to you.
And some of the families that are on this all
get Medicaid, also free medical they get help with housing.
(28:16):
So if one part of that system breaks down, you're
going to yell at us for being unsympathetic and on.
This country is completely driven on, you know, helping the needy,
et cetera, et cetera. There are food banks set up,
there are churches that give out food, pantry food, there
(28:37):
is a backup for all of this. They act like
it's the end of the world, and it's just so
upsetting to me.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
There you go, doctor, go ahead, I'm glad you got it.
I'm not going to write a prescription. I don't think
you need one. I think you got it all off
your chest. And I'm glad that you came to see
doctor Rob because I think you're better now. I think,
actually you got through this and you understand that the
rational people are are you. You're the rational ones, they're
the irrational ones.
Speaker 8 (29:04):
So no, we're just constantly yelled at for being a
sympathetic But I go look at your history and find
out why food stamps were never made. It was not
even for this, I know, And that's great. And then
we changed it from the food stamps to the EBT
so it wouldn't be you know, criticized.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
Right, give them a card that replenishes automatically. Yeah, I know. No, Look,
I know people on it. It's a scam. It's a
whole big scam. And there are certainly people who need it,
there's no question. But you know how democrats measure success
by how many people are on food stamps on snap,
we're now at forty million people. That's doubled, and I
(29:44):
think in the last ten years that's not success. That's
that's a that's a we're in a bad state. If
we got forty million people who demand food credit cards.
That's really what is. It's a depit card that you
get from the government. And so look, the Democrats played
this well they always do, and of course they get
the Assistan from the media. Had nothing to do with
(30:05):
the election, but they made it into it. It's just again,
it's orange. Man. If I can make you look over
here so you don't have to scrutinize what I'm saying,
because what I'm saying is ridiculous, then I'm going to win.
And you got enough stupid people to look over there.
And two one zero seven ten Walton Yonkers, Hi, Walt,
how you doing.
Speaker 6 (30:25):
I've been voting Republican since Nixon ran for president, and
I was on the far side of the Pacific Ocean
at the time. And from my perspective of all that time,
I think that blakeman out there in Nassau County, his
skill set his administration. He should be candidate for governor.
At least her skill set is in legislation. She should
(30:48):
look for a step up to go to the Senate.
And I think that we would avoid a conflict that
way by apportioning the the votes accordingly.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
Yeah, well, good point. Well, this is going to play out.
I mean, I think Elise is going to get you
already have a whole bunch of county chairs that have
endorsed her. Ed Cox, the chairman of the state party,
was very quick to endorse her. Trying to avoid a primary.
I was in a primary in twenty two. It's horrible.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
You know.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
It was me Lee Zeld and Andrew Giuliani, and it's
just there's nothing fun about it. It's horrible, and you know,
but everyone thinks that they that they're the best candidate,
and so we stay in it. And and Harry Wilson
was in it as well. There was four of us,
So I know why they want to avoid it, but
(31:37):
sometimes it has to play out. Hopefully it won't because
I do think we have a great shot this time.
Let's go to Mike in Oyster Bay. Michael, how are you?
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Hey? Hey?
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Are you know?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Two things about the shutdown? Why is youmor fighting so
much for this snap stuff? Because it's a it's funding
for his friends, as crony as his paths. It's a
slush fund. The other thing is I want to underst
is so they want to save healthcare for the Americans,
So they do it by starving Americans. It doesn't make
sense to me. Do you want to give health care?
(32:08):
Why would you starve people? To get to your point across?
Speaker 4 (32:12):
They could care less who's starving they honestly, this is
about them being able to Again, I mean, their whole
argument is, we need because Obamacare has been such a
train wreck and so unaffordable, we need to throw more
money at it, which will continue to make it unaffordable
(32:36):
and not fix the problem. And by the way, we
want those who are here illegally to also be able
to access it. That's their argument in a nutshell. Could
you imagine though, if they said that people Americans are
going what are you kidding me? I can't fly. My
flight was canceled because that's what you're keeping the government
shut down for. But again, he who yells I hate
(33:00):
Trump Louder wins one hundred and three to two, one
zero seven.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
Ten.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Let's go to h Russ and white plains. Hi Russ?
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Oh, hey, Rob, hey, Rob.
Speaker 7 (33:11):
I wanted to ask you, aren't you glad that the
old Democrats are going to be gone?
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Isn't it better to have a fresh face at least
even to attack it's something new?
Speaker 3 (33:20):
You know what?
Speaker 4 (33:20):
I mean, well, so I get what you're saying. I mean,
it's a real clear distinction now between Republicans and what
we stand for and this very progressive Democrat that now
they've already said. I mean two thirds of Democrats now
say that they favor socialism to capitalism. Okay, so they
(33:44):
are who they are, we know what their game plan is,
we know what they want to do. So it's a
clear distinction America. It's a clear distinction New Yorkers, which
direction you want to go to. Unfortunately, though, you've got
a lot of ignorant people out there, a lot of
people who are financially ignorant, who are just angry, who
(34:05):
don't know really at all what this whole what is
this socialism thing? I don't know, I don't care, I
don't but somebody needs to help me. You help me,
help me. I want this, I want that. And so
to sit there and say, wait a minute, you know
you should be self sufficient, and well, America is about opportunity.
They don't want to hear that. I just said. The
average age of a first time homeowner is now forty
(34:27):
years old. So you think a thirty four year old
still living at home with mom and dad wants to
hear no, they want something now, and then they're getting
fed junk on TikTok Instagram. This is where people are
getting their news from. And these algorithms just feed them
garbage all the time, and that's what they're That's what's
in the you know, garbage in, garbage out, that's in
(34:49):
their brain. But I understand, look that I do want like, okay,
you want these cooks. The problem is you got a
lot of people who do want those kooks or they're
trained to hate Republicans. But you know, as Trump said,
although Cuomo wasn't the person, but as Trump said, I'd
rather have, you know, a bad Democrat than a socialist communist.
(35:12):
Let's go to Colleen in Garden City. Hi Colleen, Hi,
Hi Rob, How are you hi? Good? What's up?
Speaker 9 (35:21):
So I kind of have a little bit of a
different take on this. My son is on disability and
unfortunately his snaps were only less than ten dollars a day,
and we were so resentful with these illegals coming into
this and getting cards out of sixty five dollars a day.
(35:43):
Now he can't live on ten dollars a day, so
we supplement him and I'm grateful that he has the
insurance that he has, and we are working. We are
a law enforcement family and a military grandparents, so we
get it. We would like to reduce everything. But on
(36:04):
the other hand, the Americans are not treated like the
the immigrants are. And it's very resentful. I voted for
Trump three times. I'll vote for him three more times
if he was to run again.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
But no, Colleen, thank you. And that what Colleen was
talking about is so true. These quote benefits quote entitlements
is what they're called. Now, you're entitled to this. That's
when we start using words like that, entitled. Well, I'm
entitled to it too. I don't like it. No, no, no, no, no, no,
no no. These are benefits. They're here to help benefit
(36:39):
you because you need it. And people who are you know,
are legitimately disabled or legitimately under the poverty level. There
are reasons, and most of us have big hearts. Of
course we want to help, but there's so many people
gaming the system right in front of our face and
laughing about it. That's why people are resentful, that's why
(36:59):
people pissed. But to celebrate forty million Americans on SNAP programs, no,
there's nothing good about that. Nothing, David in Point Pleasant,
New Jersey.
Speaker 7 (37:13):
Hey, David, Hi, I'm Fasinino. I heard you in my
car on the way home, and you said that Curtis
got eight percent of the vote. He actually got seven
point one percent.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
All right, seven point one eight. It wasn't it was
what it was going to make the difference.
Speaker 7 (37:30):
Yeah, no, no, no, no, I have to give out the
correct information.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (37:33):
If he added Curtis's world numbers one hundred and forty
six thousand to Andrew Klomer's eight hundred and fifty four thousand,
you ain't even million. He's only thirty six votes short
of Mundaland.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
Okay, but hold on one second. He does, he's not going.
Speaker 7 (37:48):
To be the one that puts him over the top.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
Right, He's still gonna want.
Speaker 7 (37:52):
Those one hundred and forty six thousand people Republicans to
relax and enjoy mayor Mundamie.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
They are not okay, David, you can't do simple math.
First of all, it's still less than Mamdami. Okay, period,
end of sentence. Mamdami still wins to say that you
take seven point one percent all every single one of
Curtis's votes and you put them in the Andrew Cuomo
column is just plain wrong because those seven point one percent,
(38:24):
they knew exactly what they were doing. They were never
ever ever going to vote for Cuomo. These are died
hard Republicans period, sticking with their party. And I don't
blame them, by the way, because you had two horrible choices.
So now it is what it is. We go forward,
and you know what you want, socialism, you want this
buffoon thirty four. Here you go prove yourself. Let's see,
(38:47):
let's see exactly what you ran on and what the
Democrats stand for, and we'll all make a judgment whether
this is good, bad, and different whatever. Hundred three two,
one zero seven ten, All right, leros point to point. So,
if you're going to Newark, if you're going to Westchester
County Airport LaGuardia JFK, first of all, you gotta make
(39:11):
sure you'll leave a little more time with all these
shutdowns and flight delays and cancelations, and and then bring
a lot of money because it costs in these airports.
They screw you so badly. Yes, I'll have a bottle
of water and a bagel, would that be all? Yes?
Forty three dollars. I mean, they just they ram it
(39:31):
up you. But anyway, if you're going to the airport,
so you've got to make sure you take Leros point
to point, You'll get there comfortably. You'll get there on time.
Professional driver, clean sedan. There's only one way to go.
It's Leros, Leros TG dot com, l E r O
s TG dot com. L E r O s TG
(39:52):
dot com, larrostg dot com one eight hundred and eighty two.
Liros if you want to call them, they're really good,
not just for the air port runs, but a night
out on the town, a special occasion like a wedding.
Let them handle it. They are bet effecto. And by
the way, they're all over the country and in Europe too,
so let them. Let them handle your transportation needs. Liros
(40:15):
point two point all right. I'll see if I can
get to some more calls when I come back. I
do have a few other things, including this crazy McDonald's story,
and I'm doing because insurance rates have gone through the roof.
I just got my insurance bill for the homeowner's policy
and our car insurance. Oh my god, it's insane. Anyway,
(40:39):
I'm doing something to mitigate it. And I will tell
you what that is when we come back the rob
Astorino Show here on seven to ten woor And if
you want to hear any of our previous shows, just
go to the iheartapp or seven tenwr dot com and
click on the podcast tab for the rob Astorino Show.
You can forward that to friends. Make sure you tell friends.
(41:00):
Obviously people are doing that because we are growing by
leaps and bounds, which I love. We are building a
radio show empire here. This is like great radio. It is,
it really is. It's only one hour though, it's like
the greatest fifty five minutes of your week. Saturday's at
four o'clock, really four h five after the news. Let
(41:23):
me see a g Williams Painting, third generation, family owned
and operated business. Now is the time. You still have
some time if you want to do some outdoor painting.
But really they're offering something I've never seen before. This
company's been around forever. They are terrific, and this might
be like a giveback to folks like, hey, we appreciate
you twenty five percent off. That's a lot, twenty five
(41:44):
percent off all interior painting. So now with the cold weather,
they got to move inside. So if you've got paint peeling,
if you've got the old lime green, if you got
the paneling, it's like that's got to come off. You
want to paint the house, Time to do it. Agwilliams
Painting dot com. That's where you would go get a
great free estimate. See what the price would be. These
(42:06):
guys are really professional, really good contractors can come in
and do some handywork. I fix things up, build things.
The craftsmen are just like really really good. And these
painters come in and you don't even know who they're there,
You don't have the paint dust everywhere. Really good, So
give them a call. They are licensed and shirt and certified.
(42:27):
Agwilliams Painting dot com for twenty five percent off interior painting.
All right, let me sneak. I forgot about that Williams
the job, do the job right. I totally forgot about
our female singer for Age Williams Painting. And she's she's
been humming and warming up almost the entire show, and
(42:49):
I just I stepped on her. I apologize. Denise and
Bergen County. You're on the rob Astarino Show. How are you, Denise?
Speaker 3 (42:58):
How you doing look forward to listening to you every Saturday.
Rob home from work, Thank you. Let me. I'm very
disappointed about Chittarelly.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
I worked on the polls and you wouldn't believe all
these mindless women coming in, stupid women voting for a
stupid woman, a helicopter pilot when we need an accounting
in New Jersey.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
Yeah, Denise, thanks for the call, and thanks for listening
each week. I really appreciate it. Yeah, they look they
were zombies. This is one of those years where there
was really nothing Jack could have done to win. And
that's sad because it was already baked in. Little did
we know. The Poles had it fairly close and it
(43:46):
was just a turnout operation. That was it. They were
just a lot of angry, angry people and their anger
was directed at the wrong person. They're all angry at Trump. Okay,
how was that going to help you in New Jersey?
Instead of their anger at Phil Murphy and the Democrats
and the legislature in Trenton, their anger is at Trump.
(44:10):
What a bunch of buffoons. I gotta tell you about
McDonald's this. I saw this as a great story. Makes
you wonder because uugh, so there and there's been a
few of these, but the latest is some some friends
in Australia back in nineteen ninety five. Okay, they were
(44:35):
kids at the time. They went into McDonald's drive through
and they got all of these quarter pounders because they,
you know, they're kids. They thought they could just eat
a million of them each anyway, so they got full,
and there was like this McDonald's quarter pounder left, and
their friend was supposed to come over and he ended
up not coming by. So they instead of throwing this
(44:55):
quarter pounder out, they decided to just hold on to it.
But nobody wanted it, and so it just sat there
for days and days, which turned into weeks and weeks,
and this quarter pounder all of a sudden they saw
over like the course of a month or two, nothing
happened to it. The quarter pounder was the exact same,
(45:15):
so they're like, what's going on here. Anyway, they decided
to keep it and kind of make it like an experiment,
so they kept it in its wrapper, you know, remember
those like glossy rappers that McDonald's used to have, And
they eventually just like put it in a cardboard box
and they named it Senior burger. But this burger to
(45:40):
this day, from nineteen ninety five to today, this burger
is intact. Now, you think about what you're reading when
you go to McDonald's. And I love McDonald's. I don't
have it often, but I love it when I get
a quarter pounder and those fries, ough, I love those fries.
(46:01):
Think about what you're ingesting. Now. McDonald's has said, well,
you know, as they stammer through their answer, it's really
because it was and it's one hundred percent beef, but
it's no preservatives. It's salt. The salt in there keeps
it kind of fresh. Okay, A burger and bun. The
(46:23):
burger and the bun have been intact for let's see, oh,
five fifteen to twenty thirty years, thirty years. There was
a guy in Utah, back in I think ninety nine
that did the same kind of thing, and that burger
stayed fine. Holy mackerel. Hooters. I'll admit I have been
(46:52):
to Hooters once. It was a long time ago, but
I was at Hooters for the food, of course. But
Hooters has like gone through I think it went bankrupt
at one point. Anyway, the new original owners bought the
company back, and they're going back because then Hooters, of course,
through the me too and all this other stuff. You know,
they're like, this is so degrading to women, and blah
(47:14):
blah blah. They change the unit. I think they put
like full dresses on them. I don't know, thinking that
we're all going for the food and the football. So
the new owners who were the old owners came back
and they are now they're going to make sure that
they go back to those old skimpy little orange and
white uniforms and those those short shorts. So I have
(47:38):
a feeling men will be going back to Hooters, just
my guess. So I took this five hour driving course
to save on my insurance. Oh my god, this is
just do you have this? This is what I've been
listening to for five hours, this garbage.
Speaker 10 (47:57):
Another hazard comes from the very thing that he keep
eyes from forming on the highway. It's road salt. When
road spray hits your windshield, a layer of salt is
left behind. If you run out of washer fluid and
salt builds up, your visibility can be dangerously reduced.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
Oh my god, I never knew that. Thank God, I'm
taking this course because I just I never knew that.
I thought salt splashed all over the windshield where you
can't see through it, that's the way you're supposed to drive.
I didn't know you're supposed to put windshield wipe or
fluid so you could visibly see through and the traffic.
(48:37):
Five hours of this I'm sitting through to save ten
percent of my auto insurance. Five hours of that garbage.
Speaker 10 (48:45):
Another hazard comes from the very.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
Thing that he Please stop it, stop it. I can't
take any more of this. Tuesday is Veterans Day. God
Bless the troops who have served. God Bless those who
are serving, including my son in the Air Force. Happy
Veterans Day on Tuesday. If you see a veteran, thank
them please. And I'm going to be at the Westchester
(49:08):
the Women's National Republican Club. I'll be having a little
forum on Tuesday night. I think you can come. It's
at six o'clock. Come say hi. It'd be fun. We'll
talk about the elections and everything else. I'll be back
here next Saturday. Forget don't forget four o'clock. Have a
great weekend.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
Everybody enjoy this hour of programming on seven to ten WR.
