Speaker 1 (00:00):
Back now here on the Ryan Gorman Show with co
hosts and The Pat and Aaron Show on ninety five
three w d AE. Aaron Jacobson is with us. So
you were there at the press conference earlier in the
week where the new Rays owners spoke. What was your
impression of them and what they had to say.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
There was a different energy in that press conference, at
least from my perspective. I've been through the whole saga,
much like a lot of Raised fans or anyone really
in this area has been, you know, witnessing what has
taken place with the stadium saga or lack thereof. I
felt a different energy in there, and then I'd felt
in the years past, I've been to a lot of announcements.
I've been to here to stay and I've seen it all.

(00:40):
Felt like a different energy. But then as it went
on and I like these I'm a vibes guy es.
I liked the es, good vibes, like these guys. But
what I did realize is, and I think a lot
of Rais fans, we have to temper our expectations as
far as spending with this team and what this team
is going to look like. First and foremost stadium. That

(01:02):
is number one, and I expected that to be the
number one issue. I anticipate that things will move very quickly.
I was pretty surprised with their aggressive timeline of twenty
twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
That surprised me.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Feels like they have something in the works or at
least an idea of what they want to do.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
They have to You cannot go out there and put
an aggressive timeline in twenty twenty nine by this team,
go out there with that much confidence and not have
something in the works. Yeah, I anticipate. I expect that
that announcement will come soon. They'll be moving fast on this.
But the spending, as far as the payroll for the team,
it's gonna take a while.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
It's gonna be based. It sounded like on the redevelopment project,
generating revenue, generating revenue. That was the thing. The headline
that I really honed in on was that. And doesn't
that tell you that Saint Pete's out out?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, it tells me a lot of things are out.
They want one hundred acres at least. Yeah, Ebo Harbor's
out too, gone done. They're looking at what Atlanta the
Braves have done, and they call it the battery in Atlanta.
Redeveloped that land a lot more in the suburbs in Atlanta.
This I don't think would be so suburbish. Like you're
not talking. I don't think you're talking Pasco County. No,

(02:11):
they said they don't want the land. Land land was
what they said. But they don't want land three hundred
acres out in the middle of the Midway. They want
at least one hundred acres where people are in the area.
They can redevelopment, put the redevelopment, put housing in there,
and also just transform that area.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
There's a couple places that stand out.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Hillsboro College stands out right across from ray j the Fairgrounds. Also,
when I talked to Ashley Kreutzer from the Tampa Bay
Business Journal yesterday, she floated the idea of maybe something
like in the West Chase area somewhere in there, you know.
But I think, yeah, hill it seems like Hillsboro College

(02:52):
and the Fairgrounds, those are the two prime spots. Makes sense.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Hundred acres land land land land land and the fair grounds. Now,
I don't think HCC makes sense, just because the traffic
would be I get it.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
With Raymond James Stadium and they do it.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
But we've got midtown Tampa right there.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
There's a lot happening, eighty one games, eighty one home games.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
So when I think about and I know I four
as a mess as well. Getting out to the fair
grounds can be, you know, kind of difficult, but there
is so much potential there tied to the hard rock
right union with entertainment.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
It just makes so much sense.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Plus you got Paul County and Lakeland, you could pull
a little bit from there. Yeah. And how have fans
reacted to all of that?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
I think fans are just happy that we're moving to
the next chapter. We've closed, we turned the page from
the Stu Sternberg era and we're moving into positive vibes.
A big one of the bigger takes takeaways that it's
his name is Patrick Zelupski.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
And I know I thought it was. I haven't saying
it run for how long?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I for three three months ago or so, I asked
Ken Hagen, Hillsborough County Commissioner. I was like, Kenny on
the air, is like, is it Patrick Zelepsky or is
it a loop Ski? And he says, I just call
him Patrick?

Speaker 1 (04:03):
All right?

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Well, that didn't really clear anyo.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
The one big remain Well, there are a couple of
big questions, But one of the key questions is funding
on the Hillsborough County side of the bait because they
said public private partnership. So it's a little bit more
difficult to get that public funding in Hillsboro than it
is a Pinealis. So yeah, we see, yeah, we'll see
where that goes. All right, let's talk about the Bucks
in the forty nine Ers. Another big game, home game

(04:26):
for the Bucks. And look, this is a banged up
forty nine Ers team, not gonna be an easy one,
but I feel like this is one the Bucks should win.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
They're both banged up.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
But the Bucks went into Seattle last week West Coast
with the same issue. They were banged up last week,
and they went and beat a really good Seattle team
in Seattle, scoring a ton of points. The Bucks defense
gave up a lot as well. Yeah, now the forty
nine ers are banged up. I expect a similar outcome,
like you to what we saw in Seattle last week.
Bucks are going to score some points. I do think
it's going to be a close game, and I think
the Bucks are going to win.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
This game. You know, when you look at the NFC,
especially watching the Eagles last night, I mean you're really
looking at the Bucks and the Lions. I feel like
at the top of the NFC right now. Now things
can change week to week, but the Bucks have pulled
out some big wins. You got Baker Mayfield. I mean,
he's right there in the MVP conversation right now.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I think he's number one.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Yeah, right now, I don't the way he's done it,
I don't see anybody else that's in front of him that.
It's early in the season, but he's number one. You
mentioned you mentioned the Eagles. They beat the Bucks, so
it's it's.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
A long I feel like the Bucks would beat them
if they played them tomorrow, just with the way the
Eagles have played. Yeah, anybody can beat anybody on any
given Sunday. I feel like the way things have gone
the past couple of weeks, the Bucks the Lions, they
feel like the two best teams and the Bucks have
you know, if they've pulled out, they've shown they can
win the close game. That's key. Uh, if you're gonna
have like one of those magical seasons.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
You know, we talked about vibes earlier with the Raiz owners.
I'm saying I'm similar with football, Like, yeah, the way
a team runs the Lions energy energy, Energy starts with
the coach the Bucks. It doesn't start with top bowls,
even though he's great. Start to Baker Bayfield energy energy energy.
And look at last night you mentioned the Eagles game.
How about the Giants rookie quarterback, rookie running back, energy,
energy energy, they win that game, and that's kind of

(06:10):
what you need sometimes.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yep. All right. Aaron Jacobson cos at the Patt and
Aaron Show on ninety five three w d a E
with Us. Aaron, thanks so much.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
