Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now, let's bring in cost of the Patton Aaron
Show on ninety five three WU d A Aaron Jacobs
in with us in studio and Aaron, let's start with
the death of former Bucks running back Doug Martin.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Just give us census to what he meant to the team.
One of the best Bucks running backs of all time.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Absolutely electric. Electric was the word that I would use
when it comes to Doug Martin. Muscle Hamster was a game.
He was really good. I mean, he was part of.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
Some fun Buccaneers teams.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
It looked like, you know those teams that they were
just like close to becoming good and then everything kind
of fell off the tracks. But you know, it's really
sad when you see recently what's happened here. The Bucks
have lost a lot of young guys that were a
big part of the team. Vincent Jackson as well. It
was one of them, Doug Martin. Now it's it's just very,

(00:52):
very sad. But he was, I mean, he was a
great player. He had some of the most historic games,
like individual games for the Buccaneers.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Ever.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Yeah, I think when you think the running game for
the Bucks, you think Wark Done and Mike Alstott obviously
that duo, and then you know Doug Martin with some
of the games that he had were right up there definitely.
And now you've got the rotation that's that's doing very
well for the Bucks currently.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
If the Bucks were good during that era, I mean,
that was kind of a lost era for the Buccaneers.
If they were good, we'd be talking more about Doug
Martin being that guy part of that class. But they
just weren't good. They weren't winning. What you mentioned work
done those teams they were winning. Now you know you
mentioned the Leonard Fournettes even though he wasn't here for
a long time, what he was able to do for
the backfield, Bucky Irving. Now for Set White, they're winning,

(01:39):
So we're talking about them. But Doug Martin, Vincent Jackson
and Mike Williams another one who all yeah, that's the way,
very very young.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
The Bucks take on the Lions tonight in Detroit. What
are you watching for from this game?

Speaker 4 (01:51):
I'm looking to see two things.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
First of all, for the Buccaneers, is Mike Evan's gonna
go a Mecca Buka now is in the conversation both
guys dealing with hamstring issues. Mike have three games that
he's missed, so at least he's taken some time off,
and meta Book hasn't missed any games, just the and
back half of last game.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
You just worry about him re injuring the hamstring very much.
It comes back too soon. Godwin's out, Chris Godwin's out tonight.
But the Bucks are gonna need everything they've got because
this Lion's team, their offense, pretty potent.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Offense, potent defense, dealing with a lot of injuries like
the Bucks are. Their secondary is obliterated. So you got
to take advantage of that, and that's good news. That's
probably why they're trying to get their main weapons out there,
the Buccaneers and Mike Evans and a Mecca Buka. But
I personally, and this is why I'm sitting doing radio
and I'm not coaching, but I would, I would be
very cautious. Use your the receivers that have been helping

(02:43):
you out to Johnson, Teed Johnson, Cam Johnson, let them
help you out, Sterling Shepherd. Let them be the focal point.
If you lose a game in Detroit in primetime, no
one's gonna think any less of you, especially with all
the injuries. So I think the name of the game
is get out of Detroit healthy.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
I think they have a tough stretch coming up. When
they play they play like the Rams the Bills.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Those are the only two tough games I see left
on their schedule.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
But then they have a stretch towards the end of
the season where it's a lot of divisional games and
the division nevery good. The Panthers have a winning record
right now, but I'm not buying it.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Beating the Jets by one of the seven, Yeah, that's
not impressive.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
No, no, So I think the Bucks they're in really
good shape, whether they win or lose tonight. We're joined
by Aaron Jacobson from ninety five three w d A.
What's your pick for tonight? Do you think the Bucks will.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Pull it out or I'm taking the Bucks to cover? Okay,
I'm taking the Bucks to cover in a close game,
so it's gonna be tough. I wouldn't be shocked if
they lost tonight.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I would say, you've got the Bucks, You've got the Lions.
I know the Packers have a really good I mean,
who else.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Do you think?

Speaker 4 (03:41):
I'm not sold on the pack I'm not either.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I mean, I think the Bucks and the Lions. This
is these are the top two teams in the NFC
right now.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
It's as much parody as I've ever seen in this league.
I mean, you just don't know who's great. Yeah, Giants. Look,
you know the young teams that are setting they were
coming back looking like, Okay, this team's putting something together
here and.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Boy and then yeah, then they teams do.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, you know, the Jets are awful that we know
the Dolphins are off.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
He's gonna get Mike mcdalie's gonna get fired. Their coach
is gonna get fired maybe.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
To Yeah, all right, speaking of firings, talk about the
Florida Gators firing Billy Napier. Uh, that happened after the
Gators won a game that I meant it was close.
They should have lost that one. And it follows USF
winning big again. Now they're eighteenth in the country according

(04:29):
to the AP poll. They take on Memphis next. Memphis
lost their first game of the year over the weekend.
But the reason I bring up USF and the conversation
with the firing of Billy Napier, Alex Golesh is certainly
going to be a name that's floated around as potentially
the next coach of the Gators.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
He is, he is.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
I don't know if Golish is ready to make that
move right now?

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Will sell.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
That's the problem with the USF. You know, they hate
the USF fans. You guys hate that. You hate it
because it gets once you have a little success from
a coach, it's like, all right, well we're gonna je
you know where you're going to go next. So it's
really it's it tells you why USF needs to be
in a better conference. Yeah, right, because it needs to
be sexier for that coach to say I'm going to

(05:10):
stay here. Even with that being said, you know, one
of the names, the main names coming up in this
Florida conversation this head coaching vacancy is Lane Kiffitt.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
You think he leaves Ole miss for Florida.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
It seems like he's kind of settled down there, but
he's always been one to look for a bigger, uh,
you know, bigger and better opportunity.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
He has quick to run.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yep, but you also watched the guy who has transformed
that program.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
He'd be a great fit for Florida. No, Russ about it.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
But why would you go from SEC powerhouse to SEC
powerhouse both with a ton of money.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
You're having success there. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
You know. The thing that that I'm interested in is
to see if more coordinators in the NFL start to
look at college as the next step, because the amount
of money that these college coaches are making dwarf some
what some of the the NFL coaches are making.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
I mean, they're getting paid big.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
And when you get fired, they say, like I always said,
backup quarterbacks. The greatest job in sports. College head coach
slash fired college head coach is the greatest job in
this in all of sports. James Franklin from Penn STATEI
it's just hang out sixty million, whatever it is. Just
gets to hang out with that and then he can
become float coach the Gators if he wants. Man, I'm like,

(06:24):
I'm gonna sit on the sidelines. But I'm hearing rumblings
that he's already antsy.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Another real quick, another name that I've heard. You know,
a bunch of names are going to be floated for
the Gators job and others, but John Gruden.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Do you think John Gruden's probably going to get back
in soon.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, I'm wondering if he gets if the Dolphins look
at him.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
I think everything is on the table for John. John
is College. Yes, I think everything is on the table
for John Gruden. He's pretty much said as much on
social media. He is somebody who's become a big figure
on social media because of Barstool Sports.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
He works with Barstool Sports right now.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
He wants back in.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, he wants back in. He loves it, he wants
back in. So I don't think he'd say no to
any if he's going to take the opportunity of Barstool Sports,
I think and I love barstool but yeah, that's for
what he was doing.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
That was the ascension to back up.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
I just wonder with the controversy that happened with him,
if the Gators would go down that road.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
I feel like the Dolphins. The Dolphins, I think, are
going to want to make a big splash.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
I don't think the Gators are going to go down
that road. I think the Dolphins would be absolutely be
open to it. The problem is Gruden's still involved in
this lawsuit with the NFL, so until that fully clears up.
Even though a lot of the things are going in
his way.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
That's a problem.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
It will cause a problem.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
It has to be clear up before he's going to
be accepted back into the inner circle.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
