Speaker 1 (00:00):
The ceasefire plan agreed to by Israel and Hamas has
been ratified by the Israeli Cabinet and is now in effect.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the cabinet meeting
and thank the US for its help in brokering the deal.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
We couldn't live with you without the extraordinary help the
President Trump and Steve Steve Whitcock and Jared Pushman. We
know that it's with the benefit of Israel in the
United States, where the benefit of the decent people living
there and for the benefit of these families will finally
get to be with our locals, and I want to
thank you on their behalf as well.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
So just to recap, the first phase of the US
broker deal includes the release of all remaining hostages in Gaza,
which should happen on Monday or Tuesday. And that's all
remaining living hostages. It sounds like it's going to take
longer to locate the bodies of the hostages that were
(00:56):
killed by Hamas. It also include foods, a conditional Israeli
withdrawal from parts of Gaza, which has already taken place,
and the release of some Palestinian prisoners as well. At
his Cabinet meeting yesterday, President Trump thanked other countries that
helped get the deal done.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
As you know, it's all finalized and done. We've had
a lot of terrifically talented people. We've had tremendous support
from EAI, Saudi Arabia, Quitar has been unbelievable, unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
And he confirmed that he's planning to head to the
Middle East.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
You're going to go to Egypt where we'll have a signing,
an additional signing. We've already had a signing representing me,
but do We're going to have an official signing.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
The other big development overnight was news that the US
is planning to send as many as two hundred troops
to Israel to monitor the ceasefire agreement. Official say the
military help is going to be focused on the flow
of humanitarian aid and security into Gaza, but there will
(02:03):
be no US boots on the ground in Gaza. We
talked to Jordana Miller from ABC News who's in Israel
about all of that earlier in the show, and she
offered some great insights. We're gonna have that for you
on the podcast. Just search for Ryan Gorman Show on
your iHeartRadio app or wherever you listen to podcasts. But
(02:24):
just as this week is coming to an end, we've
been talking about this for the past few days. I
do think it's important to point out this is a
monumental achievement for the Trump administration. I would argue it
is his biggest achievement of this second term two dates now.
I think the success that we've seen along the southern
border has been incredible, but this getting a deal between
(02:49):
Israel and Hamas and getting the remaining living hostages back,
that was a huge, huge undertaking. And those relationships that
he's built with some of the countries in the region
like Cutter for example, like Turkey, like Egypt, really went
a long way in securing this deal, and hopefully we'll
(03:10):
play a big role in helping to get the second
phase of this peace plan agreed upon. Go back to
the hotline and bring an ABC News correspondent Jordana Miller
coming to us live from Israel. So, Giordana, the Israeli
cabinet ratified the first phase of the peace deal. Anything
stand out to you about how that process played out.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Well. The breaking news this morning, Ryan, is that the
Israeli army has already completed its redeployment, that is, thousands
of troops have left Gaza City, parts of hon units
in the south, parts of northern Gaza. They've pulled back
to what is being called the yellow line, the agreed
(03:51):
upon a deployment line, and the ceasefire is underway. We're
seeing tens of thousands of Gozsins moving like as we've
seen before. Just these incredible scenes of thousands trying to
get back up to Gaza City to see what's left
(04:12):
of their home, that is the capital, if you will,
of Gaza. And not too long ago, right, just over
the last five or six weeks, we've seen almost a
million people pour out of Gaza when Israel came in
to start at siege of the city and try to
take it. And now very dramatic pictures of people trying
(04:35):
of Gazan's returning, trying to go up south, and very
dramatic pictures of Israeli soldiers, tanks, you know, lots of
hardware coming out of the Gaza strip with Israeli soldiers
singing and dancing, celebrating what they say and what Israel
is spinning as a victory. We heard this morning from
(04:57):
the Israeli Prime Minister, and he said, for anybody who
believed this deal was on the table at any point
in two years, they're wrong.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
You know.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
Hamas demanded every soldier leave the Gaza Strip before they
would give us back all of the hostages, living and dead.
And through what Natanial calls military pressure and Trump's diplomatic
political pressure, Hamas is now giving back all of the
hostages in the next couple days, either Sunday or Monday,
(05:30):
and the Israeli Army is staying with a considerable presence
in the Gaza Strip until they're able to tackle some
of those larger issues in Phase two. And Natanio made
it clear in his remarks this morning, if Hamas disarms
the easy way his reference, you know that is by
(05:50):
the agreement that we've set down that Hamas says it
will turn over his weapons great and if not, then
they will disarm the hard way.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Right.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
Natanie's veiled threat that he will return to military action
if Hamas doesn't make good on disarming destroying weapons, and
its leaders also have agreed some of them to leave
the Gaza Strip.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
We're joined by ABC News correspondent Giordana Miller, who's coming
to us live from Israel. We also learned that about
two hundred US troops are heading to Israel. What can
you tell us about that deployment and the role they'll play.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Well, I think this is a really important move. I mean,
two hundred isn't a huge number, but it has huge
symbolic value, and I think, you know, the President sending
a political message to Hamas. Those two hundred US servicemen
they will not be on the ground in the Gaza Strip.
They'll be stationed here in Israel, but they will be
(06:50):
part of regional and American effort to implement the Gazza
ceasefire and the sure stages that is setting up the
International Security Force, also setting up the new government ensuring
Hamas does turn over its arms.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Right.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
So, I think the message of those troops is that they,
you know, the President is saying, you know, we expect
Hamas to follow through with this deal, and we're sending,
you know, American servicemen to Israel to work in coordination
with the Israelis and our other partners.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
And last question for you, it does sound like President
Trump is going to make a trip to the Middle East.
What do we know about that.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Well, here in Israel, they are planning for President Trump
to address the parliament here and it looks like Israel
will make special arrangements for him to do that on Monday.
Monday evening starts the holiday of Simhastora the End. It's
(08:00):
the final day of what has been a month of
Jewish holidays, and usually on the day that a holiday begins,
all government offices are closed. But it looks like the
Israelis are going to make an effort to open the
Israeli parliament and have President Trump address parliament on Monday.
(08:22):
They anticipate that President Trump will arrive here in Israel
sometime on Sunday, and you know, the President has expressed
a desire to not only carry out that address, which
many are saying will be historic. It's been a long
time since an American president talk to the Israeli parliament.
(08:42):
The last time was President Bush forty three, the second
President Bush. He was here in two thousand and eight,
and also possibly President Trump could see some of the
hostages come out of Gaza.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
All right, ABC News respondent Jordana Miller coming to us
again live from Israel. Jordana really appreciate the time, have
a great weekend. We'll talk to you soon. You too,
