Speaker 2 (00:13):
A Hillsboro County judge sentenced Dylan Fogel to life in
prison after a jury found him guilty of killing Giovanni
Soto when he crashed a semi truck into a Tampa
strip club back in August of twenty twenty four. The
jury deliberated for about three hours. The guilty verdict led
the judge to hand down the punishment of the twenty
seven year old that led to cries from the family

(00:36):
of Soto. He was killed instantly after being hit by
the truck, and during closing arguments, they brought up the
idea of premeditation, and they did so by recalling a
text message that Fogel sent the night of the crash
saying goodbye, I'm going to prison for vehicular manslaughter. This
would be right before the crash. Yeah, and of course
now he's going to prison for murder exactly.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
I mean, if you go to our Facebook page. You
can follow us there at Ryan Gorman Show. There were
some new videos that were revealed during this trial, and
one of them is from inside the semi truck looking out,
so you can see exactly what he was doing and
where he was aiming that truck and it was directly

(01:19):
for that group of people outside the strip club. I mean,
there's no question he was intentionally trying to hit those people.
So no surprise that this verdict came down and came
down pretty quick, within three hours. The defense said he
was drunk, irrational, and not intentionally trying to kill anyone,
which is just insane.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yeah, totally insane. Well, and now we know from the
text message, Yeah, and obviously, like, how could you look
at that video and think that that was not intentional?

Speaker 4 (01:49):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
And look, I know defense attorneys, they can have a
tough job and they have an important job to do,
but I just don't know how you can stand up there,
based on the text message and the video and say
that and say that, yeah, that's that's why I wouldn't
want that gig.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, that's not a good case.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
I win.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
No, No, So, the Food and Drug Administrations warning consumers
to double check their shredded cheese after an Ohio based
company recalled multiple products distributed in thirty one states, including Florida,
for potentially containing metal fragments. Hmmm, so the recall is
from the Great Lakes Cheese Company and it was initiated

(02:28):
on October third, but then reclassified this week to Class
two because the exposure could be more dangerous and could
cause adverse health consequences, demanding on how much of the
cheese you ate full metal fragments?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Right?

Speaker 5 (02:42):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Do you sprinkle the cheese and get some metal fragments
on whatever it is you're putting that cheese on, maybe
a toped do or something like that.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
This is a Lake company. They have a long list
of brands, including names like Borden, Brookshire's, and many others.
I didn't realize that they, like were all the same.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
I just bought a whole bunch of cheese like.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
In the bag.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, you'd be surprised at how many different brands are
from this same So you're kind of wondering why are
there so many different brands from the same like manufacture
and is there any difference between Borden and Publix's brand.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
See I don't think there is. I think it's branding,
marketing all that. When it comes down to it, a
lot of these products are exactly the same. That's why
I buy. I'll buy like the Target brand or Public's
Brandalmar brand cheese.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Yeah, it's the same as all the rest.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
I have a feeling that these may have been local
companies at one point in time and they were just
bought by a big conglomerate. But they can't the brands
because that's the names that people are familiar with in
their local supermarkets.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
But I'm sure if we put a bunch of the
shredded cheese from Borden and then a bunch of it
from like all these Happy farms, which again is the
same stuff, I'm sure some people have boredon, cheese is
so much better, exactly had a better taste.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
So what do you use all that shredded cheese for?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Oh my gosh, Well, I think I might make a
lasagna this weekend. I haven't.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I could see that with some nice metal fragments, and
it's going to be great.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
And then and then we put it on salads, and
then my son likes casadillas with chicken, so I make
casadias all the time.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
I just use it a lot. Wow.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
I wonder how you find out if you've had any
metal fragments. Well, if you go to the airport and
the yeah doctor goes off, yeah, or you get one
of those ask one of those guys at the beach
with yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Yeah, that's how you know. And then real quick. Cases
of rich cracker sandwiches sold in eight states. Now Florida
is not one of them. They're being recalled. I guess
packs that were labeled as cheese were actually peanut butter,
and that's not great for people with peanut all Yeah,
these recalls, they keep happening.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
There's so many of them. I feel like I need
you to start growing food in my backyard to be safe.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, running find out about the soil, all right, So
that's a point.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Chris so.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Well, So, a woman who filed a lawsuit against SeaWorld
after she said she was hit in the face by
a duck out Yeah, knocked out, well, riding one of
the park's roller coasters was actually struck by a different
bird that was not a duck. That's according to SeaWorld and.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
At least a court filing. This is a great case.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
SeaWorld filed the motion to dismiss the lawsuit in Orange County,
saying that Hillary Martin was actually hit by a snowy
egret that's a wild migratory bird on the day that
she was injured by a duck on the Mako Coaster.
So Martin refused medical treatment not long after she was
struck and apparently didn't seek treatment until the next day.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Which is kind of interesting because you know, originally we
heard that that she was hitting the face and knocked unconscious.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
And that her injuries were so bad that now she's
filing a lawsuit.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Yeah, yeah, a permanent physical and mental injuries. I'm sure
you know every time she sees a bird now, she's
all freaked out.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
You probably had.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Covered the face.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Well. SeaWorld claims that she actually said she didn't want
medical treatment because she wanted to get back to riding
the rise.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Yeah yeah, So how bad was there injury?

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I feel like that's a key part of the case now.
I also think there's a reason that SeaWorld is noting
it wasn't a duck, it was a snowy egret that
hit her in the face. I asked chatchi pt which
one would be worse to get hit in the face
with a duck or snowy egret. And it said a duck,
and it said ducks are they're compact, they're muscular, they're heavier.

(06:35):
Snowy egret mostly feathers, and it says a duck hitting
you is a blunt force object. A snowy egret is
a flapping pillow by comparison. And then I asked it
because if you if you've seen a snowy egret before
or a picture of them, they have a long beak,
the beak right right, And basically chatchi pt said, uh,

(06:58):
a snowy egret could stab you, a duck could deck you,
and the duck is still worse overall more likely. I mean,
you could lose an eye with a snowy egret.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
But you know she didn't.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yeah, no, she didn't, and at least, according to her,
you could suffer, you know, real injuries if it was
a duck.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Well, Seawell was saying, no duck, no lawsuit. And it's
because the yeah, because what they're saying is the whole
idea was that there were ducks on the property and
that they were part of SeaWorld's sort of environment and
they should be responsible for that. A snowy egress a
wild bird ye, and SeaWorld says, we can't control where
those birds go, and in this case, it was just

(07:36):
a random event and not our fault.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
And I think in her lawsuit she also points out
that the ride was built over the water, that they
should have been responsible for protecting the ride from anything
that could be in the water. But if it's a
snowy egret, it's not a water.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Bird just just flying through. Yeah, and I mean, come on,
toughing up a little bit. So it's like a flapping
pillow in comparison to a ducking in the face. Well,
he could get impaled by the beak. Yeah, that was
the concern, all right. Chris Trankman with today's top stories. Chris,
thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Right now, let's bring in Natalie Rodriguez for today's top stories.
Good morning, Natalie.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Disturbing out of Broward County, a Palm Beach County firefighter
facing criminal charges Highland Beach firefighter and paramedic Eric Alex Lutz.
He was arrested in Lighthouse Point, where police are saying
that he attacked a group of teenagers who did a
one of those pranks where they ring your bell and
they run off. Well, he got a baseball bat and

(08:32):
chase them down. And now he's facing aggravated battery with
the deadly weapon charges. He's on paid administrative leave at
the Highland Beach Fire Rescue Department. And all of this
because kids were being kids.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Yeah, they thought they were smart. They were in a
golf card. They thought they'd be able to get away,
Well not so much. This guy must be fast because
he caught up to them and baseball yeah, was attacking
the cart and the teenagers and people are fed up
with this. This is not the first time we've done
a story like this where the teens tried to do
the ding dong ditch thing and somebody, the homeowners, caught

(09:02):
up with them. There was one recently where the guy
made the teenager get on his knees and he had
a gun to his head. Yeah, that kid was scared.
Yeah yeah. And then there were three teenagers who took
part in the door kick challenge, another stupid social media trend.
Thirteen year old and two fourteen year olds. They were
rested last week. This was in Saint John's County. They

(09:24):
were caught attempting to kick indoors in multiple homes. So
the dingdong ditch thing is annoying, but at least they're
not trying to literally kick in your door. This one
you could easily see turning deadly with the homeowner with
a firearm. Oh yeah, thinking somebody's trying to break in.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Oh yeah, absolutely, It's stupid. And I think that the
best punishment for those things is the public shaming. Like
you take a ring video thing and you put it
in the mom group and say whose kids are these,
and like that'll be enough, and.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
They're not even you know, ding it's not even original.
I mean, and especially like back in the day I
did that. Yeah, yeah, I need the kid we did it.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
I totally if prank called we did it.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
All they're really told kids they used to put the
dog poop in the I never did, in the brown
bag and set it on fire. So you ring the
doorbell and the step on the bag to put the
fire out and they have all over there.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
No I had heard about it though, Yeah, so yeah,
all right, anyway, Natalie, what else is going on? Yeah,
just just learning so much about you too.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Well, if you've been looking for love, in all the
wrong places. Yeah, well let me tell you. Speaking of so,
I'm on this dating app and ninety seven percent of
the guys that you know like my profile. They're not
even local to me.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
They're in Tampa always.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
But yeah, Tampa's in the top five best cities for singles.
I guess I need to move or stop by on
the weekends or something. While I have say is that
the best cities for singles have large, gender balanced single populations,
a good balance of indoor and outdoor activities daytime, nighttime.
They also have reasonable prices for going out on dates

(11:03):
it can be so expensive. High average incomes also help
ease the sting of the inflation issue. Topping Tampa at
the number one and number two spots, we have Atlanta
in Georgia and Las Vegas, Nevada. The only other city
in the Sunshine State to crack the top ten was Orlando,
and the worst Florida city for singles happens to be

(11:26):
where I am Hilia.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
You don't like Thanksgiving or was it was it Halloween?

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Thanksgiving? Worse for Thanksgiving? Well, and Natalie, if you're in
Hilia and you're getting all people from Tampa on the
dating app that's another issue too.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Yeah, I mean I questioned the Vegas one coming in
number two.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
I think that's people saying they're single, right, maybe.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Not necessarily, Yeah, that's a good place for them.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
And then the strip though, that's the strip, okay. And
then Tampa scored high thanks to its attraction restaurants, and
it says coffee and tea spots. If you're a guy,
don't take her out for tea. Okay, that's a very
dainty moves.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Because he doesn't want to spend the money on a drink.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Well no, well there's that, but I also tea. I
don't know you are you gonna put your little.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Pinky up in You'd be like, no, you're not my type.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Not a good idea, all right. Natalie Rodriguez with today's
top stories. Natalie, thanks so much.
