Speaker 1 (00:00):
California Democrat Katie Porter is trying to clean up her
image after she was exposed for lashing out at staffers.
She's running for governor, and a twenty twenty one video
in which she curses staffer for coming into her camera
shot went viral, along with some other videos and reports
about her nasty side.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
So listen to this.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
She's on a video call and then you can see
staffer pop into the background the air.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Pollution and other problems and the state could lose.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Get out of my shot.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
And so then the staffers correcting her on something she's
getting wrong on the call.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Okay, it does Okay, you also were in my shot
before that. Stay out of my shot.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Okay, I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Start it again.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
So she just did her first interview since all of
this came out, and she was asked if she has
the temperament to lead the state of California.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
When I look at those videos, I want people to
know that I understand that I could have handled things better.
I think I'm known as someone who's able to handle
tough questions, who's willing to answer questions, and I want
people to know that I really value the incredible work
that my stuff can do. I think I can. People
who know me know I can be tough. But I
need to do a better job expressing appreciation for the
(01:20):
amazing work that my team does.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
How about I need to not be a crazy sec cope.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
It's amazing that she could sit there and say I
can handle tough questions. There was another interview she did
recently where she ended the interview because she didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Like to follow up handle the tough sh She can.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Handle the tough questions.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
And you had her ex husband accuse her of abuse.
He says that she dumped a bowl of hot mashed
potatoes on his head during a fight. And he also alleged,
and I'm quoting here, that she wouldn't let him have
a cell phone because she said, you're too effing dumb
to operate.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Its goodness, this one sounds like a nightmare, like just
a raging nightmare.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
She sounds like I can't. She comes across.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Reminds me of that show Baby Reindeer on Netflix with
that psycho woman.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
Yeah, and she will though. If she's elected, she'll get
stuff done. She'll beat Democrats and Republicans into submissions.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Jd Vance is facing some backlash for basically defending the
racist and vile things leaders from the Young Republicans organization
we're saying in a group chat. So the messages were
published by Politico earlier this week and included the then
share of the group saying people who didn't vote for
him need to quote go to.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
The gas chamber.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
The General Council for the New York State Young Republicans
said can we fix the showers? Gas chambers don't fit
the Hitler aesthetic, and another committee woman from New York said,
I'm ready to watch people burn now. Words like the
F word, the one that's slang for gay, the R word,
and the N word appeared more than two hundred and
(02:54):
fifty times. So jd Vance reacted on x by sharing
a screenshop of the text of Virginia democrat Jay Jones
saying he wanted to shoot his political opponent and said
this is far worse than anything said in a college
group chat. And then he doubled down on yesterday, saying this.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
By focusing on what kids are saying in group chat,
grow up, I'm sorry, focus on the real issues, don't
focus on what kids say in group chats.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
So he's kind of just making excuses for them like, oh,
this is just boys being boys kind of thing, instead
of condemning what they said.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
And also, you know, this makes.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
That group look really really bad and puts a you know,
a damper on the entire organization. Why wouldn't he be
disappointed to them and say, guys, get it together.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Exactly.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
That's leadership saying no, no, no, this is not how
we do things. And look democrats. I saw a lot
of them hesitate to distance themselves from that candidate for
attorney general in Virginia who put out those texts, and
you know they're no better. But is somebody going to
stand end up one of these sides and say, you
(04:01):
know what, we're going to be the adults in the
room and we're going to hold our side to account.
It just never happens. It's so frustrating. I don't understand
what's so difficult about it.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
This is from Mark Pudo at Axios. President Trump is
obsessed with remodeling the White House.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
And we've seen this. I mean he's.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Replaced trees, put pavers and a new patio in the
rose garden. He's put art and mirrors all over the place,
the gold, the flagpoles, the new two hundred and fifty
million dollar ballroom. And he's apparently spent up to twenty
hours working on some of these projects. In between negotiating
piece deals and talking about the shutdown, he's on the
(04:37):
phone having design sessions, talking.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
About Mark Tyler.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
I'm not surprised.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
And then when world leaders are going to the White
House lately, like when Netanyahu was here visiting, he ended
up getting a forty minute tour with Trump showing off
all their renovations. When some Florida politicians visited the White House,
they were shown the new marble tile and the Lincoln
Room bathroom. And he apparently now wants to build a
(05:04):
giant arc at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery near
the Memorial Bridge, something you'll be able to see from
the air.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
So it's like when he's flying.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Over, you know, going back to the house, he's looking
at the city, thinking, Oh, what else can I build?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
What can I put that you can see from the sky.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
I think, you know, a big part of his legacy, honestly,
is going to be the change to the White House.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Oh yeah, all the gold and everything.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
And I guess some people are concerned about the historical
preservation of some of the things in the White House,
because he's made so many changes and.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Kind of manage his own that it looks more.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Like you know, a Trump town, right exactlything else well,
I mean he's got the rest of this term and
then don't forget a third term.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah, so it's going to be there for a while.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
A terrifying scene unfolded at Disney's Contemporary resort earlier this
week as a person died on the mono rail tracks.
Now Earlier reports suggested the person was hit by the monorail,
but the Orange County Sheriff's Office later said the death
was in a parents' suicide, and witnesses told police they
saw the person jump onto the tracks and die, So
(06:08):
it's been ruled a suicide.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
You don't hear that very often. I mean, it's the
happiest place on earth. Yeah, somebody doing something like that.
I wonder if that's ever happened before, coming in front
of a monorail track.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah, I don't think I've heard anything like that happening before.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
But that's they do come in threes, they say, So
you've got Epic Universe, yep, you've got Disneyland, the Haunted
Mansion mansion. Yeah, and then you've got this one. Three
theme park.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Debths, the Haunted Mansion one. I looked that up to see,
you know, what ended up happening. And they're not going
to release any autopsy results because well, it sounds like
it was a medical emergency, probably just a coincidence that
happened to be on the ride and maybe had a
heart attack or something and died. The family doesn't want
an investigation.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
Or anything like that, So not like what we're seeing
with Epic Universe, where you know, the family.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
And all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Yeah, it sounds like the family's pretty confident that this
was not the park's fault.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
And the monoail thing, again, that's just.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Checking well, and it's not clear if it was a
guest or an employee or you know, it's not clear
who this.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Person was yet one of their I mean, I still
think back to the craziest trgedy of all time I
think at Disney was when that little boy at the Alligator.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
I mean that was a story that was horrifle, hor
fe sure story.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
And now when you go there and you see those
like ponds and stuff, there are signs everywhere yes.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Maga World is lashing out at Alyssa Farrah Griffin because
she hasn't worn a Maga hat yet on the view.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
So back in January, she made this promise.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
If he does good, if he gets the Israeli hostages out,
I promise I will wear a Maga hat for one
day on the show and.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Say thank you for doing it, right off my head.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
But you have to be able to cheer for wins
when they happen and then call out relentlessly the wrongdo.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Now she did cheer for his win.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
She has given him credit for negotiating the piece deal
and getting the hostages released.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
But it's been three days. Today will be the fourth
and she has not worn the head.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
So Donald Trump Junior shared that clip on x and said,
sending this to the top, let's go. Another Maga influencer
said we're all waiting. And she also she did her
own post about the peace deal and she disabled the
comments on it, probably because she knew everybody was going
to be like, put on the Maga hat.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Just wear the hat. Yeah, it'll go viral, totally true.
Just put on the hat.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I don't know if the other women could even sit
the table with her though, if she did, they would
not be able to contain themselves to be so triggered.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
And I also think at this point she runs in
circles where if she ever did something like that, I
don't know that.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
You know, the people at the cocktail parties that she
goes to, if it would be thrilled.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Yeah, no, they wouldn't at all ostracized.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Yeah, but just do it. I mean it would be funny.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Now.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
I bet you she comes out and says, well, I
might do it.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
When the last body is returned, you know, there'll be
some caveat to why she hasn't done it yet.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
