Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now, let's bring in our national correspondent, Rory O'Neill,
whose report is brought to you by Mark Spain real Estate. So, Rory,
the winner of the twenty twenty five Nobel Peace Prize
has been announced and it.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Is a Venezuelan and a woman at that, Maria Corrina Machado.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Not not because she's a woman, but President Trump he
really wanted this award.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I think that was the problem.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, he's a little little two thirsty, too aggressive, Yeah,
campaign too hard for it a plate. Yeah, just you
know all your role Well, and I think did we
talk about this yesteryear?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I can't remember.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
I know I had this conversation or maybe I just
had it in my head and it never actually was
something I discussed with anyone. But when is the cutoff
because this whole piece deal in the Middle East, I mean,
is there one? Yeah, yeah, that's certainly you would think
we'll put a prime position to win the Nobel Beast Prize.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
But had they already made the.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Decision, right and yeah, had this been it going in
before what happened this past week? Yeah, exactly when they
made the announcement or it made the decision. I don't know,
but it's not like the Oscars. It's not like you
have to have one in this year. Uh, you know,
in order to get it. You know, it's a and
as I was talking about, slowly your role, you know,
laid back, it'll just happen. And then, I mean Barack

(01:23):
Obama did nothing for him, right, really and he got it?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
So true?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
And then why is President Trump so eager to join
the ranks of Barack Obama, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, and
Woodrow Wilson.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, but when Trump wins it, it's going to be
the greatest Noel Peace hard time.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
So that's the difference.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Look, I think I think with this this deal in
the Middle East, Uh, it puts them in again prime
position to win it next time around. But what was
the reasoning for this Venezuelan opposition leader to take it
this year?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
By the way, you know who nominated her? Right, I
have no idea. A little fellow named Marco Rubio, real
old man.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
When Trump finds out that his secretary of state nominated
somebody else for the Nobel Peace Prize and she won.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Man, Right, forget about all that's going to be out.
That little tidbit came from our John Decker.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
So interesting.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, but look, she's been living and she's been hiding
out for months now, fearing for her safety. She's been
trying to over bring back democracy and capitalism to Venezuela. Actually,
so she's been doing some pretty heroic things on her own.
But you know, I get four American presidents and a
vice president, I've gotten a Nobel Prize over the years.

(02:48):
Three of those American presidents were in office at the time.
Jimmy Carter got his Peace Prize long after leaving office,
and Al Gore got it in two thousand and seven.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I was reading about the criteria.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
It all goes back to this Nobel guy and and
what was it as well?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
He's got like it.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
There's there's a strict criteria for who can win these awards.
I thought it was really interesting as I was reading
through some of that. Now Tampa Bay Area con Anna
Pauline A Luna she formally nominated President Trump on Wednesday
for the Nobel Peace Prize tied to his work in

(03:25):
the Middle East. So again he didn't win it this time,
but he's already been nominated for the next time around.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
So oh, there you go, right, and you know who
knows what's going to happen with Russia and Ukraine. And
then look and then let's turn the tables. Now, it's
also the credibility of the Nobel Organization. You say, hey,
wait a minute, here's a guy who you know, manages
to get this piece plan hopefully through phase one anyway
this weekend and then perhaps is turning the tide and

(03:53):
what's happening with Russia and Ukraine, and you're not giving
it to him.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
No bad luck.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
All right, let's talk about another story you're covering this morning.
We're joined by our National correspondent Rory O'Neil. If you're
not interested in watching Bad Bunny do the Super Bowl
halftime show, and there's another controversy with Bad Bunny.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
It's not just his comments about ice. Now.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Apparently during a performance of God Bless America at Yankee
Stadium the other night, there's video showing him sitting down.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
So is that the thing? Do we have to stand
for that too?

Speaker 1 (04:24):
I don't know. I don't know the timing of it.
If it was like right around the National I'm not
sure that's a good question.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Because they play that because Kate Smith would sing it,
you know, one hundred years ago, and I mean I
get why they do it.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah, I feel like if I'm already standing, i'd stand
what I probably look around and see what everybody else
was doing, to be perfectly honest with us. Yeah, I
don't know. But what's this alternative halftime show?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Well, this one is being put together by Turning Point USA,
and they've got a website up for the All American
halftime show and they're taking suggestions about.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
What it should be.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
I think this was actually created on Twitter first or
x first, and then Turning Point USA said, you know,
we should turn this into a reality, and so their
their website says, you know, what should it be?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Country?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Hip hop, rock or quote anything in English?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Now House speaker Mike Johnson he suggested Lee Greenwood should
replace Bad Bunny for the halftime show, and Lee Greenwood
he was open to it. He said, I would make
a great performer for any Super Bowl show. So maybe
Turning Point USA could could reach out to him. He
wants to do it, and that that fits their patriotic theme.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, an eighty two year old country I'm sure they'll
get a huge.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Tune in for that.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
All state state farm are all thrilled at the idea
Freedo lay.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
They all love to have an eighty two year old country. Yeah,
somebody sent me a clip.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
You know, he does put on a great performance and
and it's, you know, very emotional sometimes when he when
he sings.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
It just the patriotism that you feel.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
But you know, this football halftime show is not about
getting emotional about their country. You want to see, you know,
you want to see you want to see work Janet Jackson. Yes,
that's what you want to see exactly right. Our national
correspondent Rory O'Neil with us this morning.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Rory, have a great weekend. Thanks so much. Thanks Ryan,
you too.
