Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're learning more details about what happened the night Rob
Reiner and his wife Michelle were killed. We knew their daughter,
Romy had found them, but apparently at first she only
found her dad's body and didn't realize that her mother
had also been killed.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
So we know that the massage therapist arrived.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
At the house and when nobody opened the gate, the
massage therapist called Romy, who lives across the street.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
She ran over with a friend.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
She went into the house and discovered her dad's body.
She ran out of the house, told her friend to
call nine one one, and she called Billy Crystal. It
wasn't until a little while later when police arrived and
went into the house that they found Michelle's body and
came out and told Romy that her mother had also
been killed.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
So here's my one question about that and how it
played out. She sees her father's body, she runs out,
tells the roommate to call nine one one. She doesn't
know her mother had also been murdered, but she contacts
Billy Crystal instead of her trying to reach her mother.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, that is an interesting thought.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, well, like why didn't you think mom, Like where's Mom? Yeah,
but I wonder if in that you know, in that moment,
who knows, you don't even know what you would feel.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Fine, gruesome scene.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
So like I'm not judging, I'm just saying that kind
of stood out to me.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah, Like, why weren't you calling for your mom? Yeah.

at trajanwealth dot com. Nick Reiner made his first court
appearance yesterday behind the glass wall of a custody area.
He's charged with killing his parents, Rob Reiner and Michelle
Singer Reiner. He was in shackles and wearing a suicide
prevention vest. He did not enter a plea, and his

(01:48):
arraignment has been delayed until January seventh, per his lawyer's request.
He only spoke to say yes, your honor when agreeing
to the date. He's hired attorney Alan Jackson, who defended
Kevin Space, Harvey Weinstein, and Karen Reid. And here is
what the attorney said after the hearing.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
This is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Riner families.
We all recognize that our hearts go out to the
entire Riners family. There are very, very complex and serious
issues that are associated with this case. They just need
to be thoroughly but very carefully dealt with and examined

(02:29):
and looked at and analyzed. We asked that during this process,
you allow the system to move forward in the way
that it was designed to move forward, not with the
rest of judgment, not with jumping to conclusions, but with
restraint and with dignity and with the respect that this
system and this process deserves and that the family deserves.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
And we're also learning that a source told The New
York Post that Nick went to that Conan O'Brien Christmas
party with his parents because they didn't want to leave
him alone.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
They knew that he was struggling.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
He had been staying in their guesthouse under close watch,
and they were concerned if they left him for a
whole night his mental state was not good.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Two things. One, there's no question he did it. I
think that's pretty clear. Yeah, this is going to be
this case is going to be about like his mental state, addiction,
all that kind of stuff to try to get him
out of the first degree murder charges. And my other point,
I think a lot of those celebrities who were at
Conan O'Brien's party could end up being part of this

(03:33):
trial based on what they might have seen.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Get called as witnesses.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, it could be a star studded trial.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Visit them at trajanwealth dot com. Jake and Romy Reiner,
the other two children of Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle,
released their first statement since their parents were murdered allegedly
at the hands of their brother Nick. They said, words
cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are
experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating

(04:02):
loss of our parents is something that no one should
ever experience. They weren't just our parents, they were our
best friends. They also thanked the public for the outpouring
of kindness and support and asked for speculation to be
tempered with compassion and humanity. And they're asking for their
parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived
and the love that they gave.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
There was some question yesterday about what exactly Romy said
in the immediate aftermath, like too law enforcement.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, because we had heard from the beginning that Romy
told them right away.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
My brother's dangerous. My brother did this.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
He was living in the guest house, but a source,
unidentified source, anonymous source who is apparently close to the family,
told The New York Times that he doesn't believe that
romy said that about her brother. His version of the
story was that she told police my brother lives in
the guest house, but that she didn't implicate or say
that he should be suspected of this in any way.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Interesting because I wonder if she knew about at that
point what had happened at Conan O'Brien's party, and just
the downward spiral he seemed to be on leading up
to all of this. Well.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
It was also interesting because this person who talked to
The New York Times said that they were completely shocked
by this, that it had seemed like Nick was doing
much better. And then there was also someone who told
The New York Post that he had stayed with the
family a couple weeks ago and that everything seemed fine.
So it almost seems like very recently he started to
be struggling again, and he went to that party with

(05:37):
them because they didn't want to leave him home exactly
