Speaker 1 (00:00):
How Speaker Mike Johnson says he's going to lead a
campaign to nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
No one has ever deserved that prize more and that
is an objective fact. As Speaker o'hanna said before the
Knesset yesterday, quote, whoever saves one life, it is though
he has saved an entire world. It's an indispeedable fact
that no president has undertaken the work of saving lives
and pursuing peace with such determination and with such remarkable
(00:28):
success as President Trump.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
He then took a handkerchief and wiped the ups brown
off his nose. The speaker also noted it's going to
be a joint effort with his Israeli counterpart.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Now.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
While the peace deal and the return of the hostagees were,
without a doubt huge achievement, doesn't mean the work is done.
So he had the Israeli Defense Forces open fire in Gaza.
Yesterday's local authorities reported six people were killed. According to
an IDF post on x. It opened fired on what
it described as several suspects approaching troop positions in northern
Gaza and urged residents to follow instructions and keep their
(01:02):
distance from IDF troops. Israel also appears to be cutting
the amount of aid allowed into Gossip because Hamas has
to release all the bodies of the dead hostages now. Overnight,
we learned Hamas return the remains of four more deceased hostages,
bringing the total to eight, with twenty still yet to
be returned, including two Americans. Axios is reporting that a
(01:26):
senior Israeli official said Hamas hadn't seemed to realize how
seriously Israel took the issue until yesterday. Well, how do
would they not think that it was a serious issue?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
What are they talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
I don't know, the official claim. TAMAS officials also now
realize Israel knows more than they presumed about the number
and locations of bodies Hamas is holding. You should always
assume Israel knows scene what they've done exactly. And then
another problem. You've got Hamas's security forces. They've re established
control over the parts of Gaza from which Israeli troops withdrew,
(02:02):
and they've been conducting executions in the streets. And then
there's a question about whether or not Hamas is going
to disarm, which is the next step in the peace process.
This is what the President had to say about that yesterday.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
And they will disarm, and if they don't disarm, we
will disarm them, and it'll happen quickly and perhaps violently.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
And President Trump said he received assurances from Hamas that
they would disarm, and I said, you're going to disarm, right, Yes, sir,
We're going to disarm.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
That's what they told me.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
But then the question becomes, well, what exactly does disarm mean.
Sounds like in the negotiation, Samas was more willing to
give up rockets and missiles, not necessarily guns. Let's go
back to the hotline and bring in ABC News correspondent
Jordana Miller, who's coming to us live from Israel. Geordana,
thanks so much for joining us once again. And I
want to start with the big development overnight, Hamas returning
(02:51):
the remains of four more dead hostages.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Well, it turns out that they did. Hamas did turn
over her four bodies, but only three of them Brian
turned out to be Israeli hostages. One did not match
any of the dead hostages. And that's happened before. If
you remember when Hamas returned to the body of Shira Bebus,
(03:20):
that young mother and her two children, Ariel and Kshir,
who were roughly about four and two. They were murdered
by their Hamas captors in Gaza. They first returned a
body that turned out to be not Shira's body, so
we've seen this before. But three other families were relieved
(03:43):
to have their loved ones back and to be able
to give them a proper burial. They include an Israeli
soldier that was at one of the crossings, twenty year
old Tamir Pardon and he was he know, there was
no sign of life of him from him the entire war,
(04:05):
so it was assumed that he had been killed. And
then Guya Luz another another another young Israeli who was
kidnapped alive from Nova but injured, and it appears he
died in one of the Gaza hospitals. He'll be buried today.
(04:26):
And then a taxi driver who was bringing people down south,
you know, had no idea what was happening, and he
was killed in his car, a fifty three year old
Eton Levy. So all of those funerals expected in the
next twenty four hours. Guya Luz will be buried later today.
(04:47):
The Israeli Prime Minister, like President Trump saying that you know,
they are not gonna uh, you know, they're not gonna
They're going to continue to put a lot of pressure
on Hama. They bring the bodies back. For the Israelis,
the bodies are just as important as the living hostages.
And we are hearing that maybe Hamas is going to
(05:09):
turn over some more bodies tonight. We'll have to wait
and see. But as you know, Ryan, you know, the
promise was that Hamas is going to turn over a
lot of bodies and then there would be a few
weeks to look for other bodies. But in the end,
the first day, in that seventy two hour window right after,
they only turned over four bodies, which was a lot
(05:31):
lower than the estimates or what they had led mediators
to believe. So now we're waiting to see about the
turn you know, for them to turn over more bodies.
At the same time, the Rafa border crossing, which was
supposed to open today, will not open. We're told that
(05:51):
the European team on the ground that's supposed to take
over the gos inside of border from the crossing from
Theseis is still not in place, and so that means
that AID is still getting into Gaza today, but not
in the numbers that we thought. We thought we'd see
six hundred and seven hundred trucks and it looks like
(06:13):
it'll be less today.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
We're joined by ABC News correspondent Jordan Donna Miller coming
too us line from Israel. The other big issue over there,
you've got Hama security forces. Looks like they've re established
control over the parts of Gaza from which Israeli troops withdrew.
We've seen reports of executions in the streets. Tell us
about that.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Right, Hamas has basically gone into the areas of northern
Gaza where the Israeli troops withdrew right from Gaza City,
and they're basically killing anyone they suspect collaborated with the Israelis.
There is a plan of family called the Darmouch Plan
(06:55):
that you know, was reportedly helping these Israelis and they've
essentially been massacred that family of hundreds. We understand dozens
have been killed in that plan over the last forty
eight hours, and they're basically trying to you know, wipe
(07:16):
out any possibility that local family will replace them in
the future. Right, both as a governing on the governing
Council and on the streets as a military not a
great sign, which I think is why you've heard President
Trump threatened last night that you know, if they don't disarm,
(07:38):
then you know, then we'll do it quote violently, which
is what right the President said. And we've heard from
the Israeli Prime Minister that he'd prefer that Hamas turn
over their weapons in a peaceful way, right, And he's
giving President Trump's peace plan a chance. And I think
there will be several months of an opportunity, you know,
(08:02):
to implement this plan and have Gaza have Hamas turnover
their weapons. But if they don't, you know, I think
it's clear the United States is signaling that, you know,
Israel may have to go in and do it by
other means. And we're seeing these brutal videos right of
las basically executing people in squares. No one should be surprised, right,
(08:26):
this is a terrorist group. They're brutal, they're barbaric. You know,
they kill, they kill Israelis, they killed by the way,
they killed non Israelis on October seventh, right, Thi workers,
Indian workers. You know, they are anybody who is seen
as a threat to their power. They will kill, including
(08:47):
Muslims as well, which is what they've done now in
the Gaza strip. Terrible scenes. Maybe.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
C News correspondent Jordana Miller again coming to us live
from Israel with all the latest. Jordanna really appreciate theupdate
this morning, Thanks so much.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Thanks, talk soon.
