the JB and Sandy Morning Show. My name is Sandy,
This is JB. Hello, and Tricia is here too. Hi.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Would you guys like to know some of the more
popular names of the JB and Sandy Podcast. I've really
really taken an interest in giving enticing titles to the episodes.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Which ones do best get those clicks?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah, I'll start with still towards the top. Don't be
a schnitzel Fritz is JB? Tell everybody what a schnitzel
fritz was in your house when you were a child.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Uh, that's what you would be called if you didn't
have your napkin in your lap. And and the way
you would call someone out for being a schnitzel fritz
is by putting your napkin on your head and then
everyone would slowly do it until the schnitzel Fritz realize
the error of their ways.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Listen, listen, you can hear that whole story on the
podcasts have been passed down. There's no way.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Well, it's possible my dad came up with that, but
that must have been passed down from from the country.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah, I think we're going to start it here because
but we rarely sit at the table and eat as
a family.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
We do it a couple of times a week, do
it every night, We do it a couple of times
a week.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I think we're doing good.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Another popular go ahead, Jimmie, as you say, opposite at
our house, I insist on the table the time. It's
tough with a fifteen year old whose schedule is all
over the place.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
True, it was different. We're like, yeah, we're empty masters now.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
And another very popular title of a podcast which you
can get on iHeartRadio app to search jav and Sandy,
we know what the black smoke and smell in Central
Austin is. Woo. That's when the Creamatorium was having issues
over there, can egg and mopak.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Right, that was a little bit of investigative reportant.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, Another popular title, Tricia, You're not going to like this.
I picture her face when I kick it. What is
that from? That is from our movie THI class at
Cooper Mma and our daughter was working out with Landry
and kicking the bag so hard. Tricia couldn't take it anymore,
(02:36):
so she had to swap with me. And I was
holding the bag and I said, you were getting after
it with your mom. Huh, she goes, Yeah, I was
picturing her face on the bag when I kick it,
she remark. Another popular title of the podcast version of
the show, It's officially naked season it is it is
(02:58):
weather warms up a little bit. You gets stories of
people just taking off their clothes in weird places. And finally,
another very popular title, Austin Night acting a fool at Hamilton. Yeah,
these are the people singing along with Hamilton, standing up
knowing every word.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I still think that the highest rated one.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
The most downloaded one was no, I do not want
to see your butthole.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
I know I would have clicked on that one.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
That was a Do you remember that story? JB? No?
I don't. Okay. So we were in Nebraska visiting my
parents and they have there's a really cool little downtown
section of Omaha called the Old Market. It's only about
two blocks, right, but it's got cool little shops and stuff.
And so we went down there. We go down there
all the time, and it was in the winter. Got
out of the car and we start walking up the
(03:51):
cobblestone streets and we're walking up the sidewalk and there's
a homeless person I'm gonna guess it was walking towards us,
and he was kind of aggressive and yet loud and yelling,
and so I immediately.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Was like spaghetti with his hands.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, eating spaghetti with his hands. And I was immediately like, okay,
you got to go into protector mode in that spot,
you know, so like girls just hang tight by me.
And I walked out in front and he's yelling. Finally
goes by us. I go, did you hear what he
was saying? Tris? And I asked Landry too, and they're
like no, I couldn't really understand it. I go. He
was saying, no, I do not want to touch your buttthole.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
Then like forty five minutes later we passed him again
and he was still mad about somebody wanting him to
touch their butt hole.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
He was still yelling about it.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Yeah he was, he was mad. Yeah, very funny. So
check out.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
It's one thing, it's what.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
It's one thing to have an imaginary friend, but then
your imaginary friends are perv.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Right, Well, i'd kind of be all right with me.
I'd be okay with it. Imagine that's a little permanent.
That'd be all right. Grab the podcast version of the show.
There's a lot of great stuff there. Scroll down when
you get there too, because there's some funny stuff that
you may have missed. It's on the iHeartRadio app. Just
search JB and Sandy. Coming up on the show. JB
(05:19):
did something. This will be about seven twenty five or so.
He told us what he did, and my first remark
was that is very out of character for the JB
that I'm out. That's coming up. It's a restaurant, a
place eight. Also, we're going to talk about signature moves
of musicians and rock and rollers, and Tricia's got the
Story we Love next what he has.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
We're going to talk about f one coming in October.
They just named their headlining act and it's a big one.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
All right, stay with us. The Story We Love is
next on Austin's eighty station. What oh three point one
in Hey, coming up at nine o'clock. We've got a
chance for you to win one thousand dollars on Austin's
eighty station. One oh three point one has got the
story we love in just a moment? What is it
again about?
Speaker 5 (06:02):
The headliner has been announced for F one for Coda
in October.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
All right, say with us, that's just a minute away.
Rock and roll scandal friends, Brian Adams, Brian Adams been
lying to us for years. Have you heard about this?
Speaker 3 (06:16):
I saw this. It's very funny.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
The song Summer of sixty nine. One of the famous
lines it was he got his first real six string
from a five in diamond. It was a lie.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
He did not get it at five, did not get
it at five and behime, liar, pageous.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
And it wasn't even the summer of sixty nine when
he got it. The song's a whole, The thing's a
big lie. He got it at a music shop with
his uncle. Geez, can you believe that? Us? A long
damn Brian Adams liar, liar, pants on the fire. The
Stories we Love from the let Host Studios D one
(06:55):
the only pusha.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Circuit of Americas on social media announced Garth Brooks as
their headliner for Formula one in October.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
That's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
That's huge, huge deal.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
They're also going to have a Norwegian DJ, Kigo or
Kygo I'm not exactly how to sure how to pronounce it,
and Turnpike Troubadours will be headlining the Formula one race
in Garth Brooks, who recently was inducted into the Austin
City Limits Hall of Fame last September. He performed at
(07:31):
that television event at the Moode Theater in downtown Austin.
He said, Texas knows its music. That's my favorite thing
about Austin. It becomes one of the biggest cities, but
it's staying Austin and putting the music up front.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
That's interesting with the Garth Brooks thing.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
It, you know, at first, on the top of my head,
I'm like, that's that's a real mismatch with an F
one crowd, right, But then if you think about all
the people coming from all over the world, country music
is way more iconic and they probably don't know the
difference between a Nashville or Texas artist. You know what
(08:06):
I mean coming from Europe to the event, Garth. That
would be a novelty, like you know, like seeing Willie
Like it's just an iconic novelty.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
You I've seen Garth Brooks two or three times, and
he puts on a hell of a show.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
I'll tell you that, one of the best concerts I've
been to.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I've got a fun Garth Brooks story. Would you like
to hear it?
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Well, good, because we said we'll gather around everyone. Uncle
Sandy's Uncle Sandy story time. So Garth Brooks and I'm
gonna say it was like nineteen ninety or nineteen ninety one,
and Garth Brooks, the song Friends in Low Places had
just come up, okay god boy, and it took over right,
But he was kind of a big deal before that
(08:47):
because his first single was much too young to fill
this damn old Anyway, he had been booked to play
a concert, a charity fundraiser for the firefighters Department, right,
you know, the firefighters do a fundraiser. They book a
band and booked to Garth Brooks. So the radio station
this is they probably got him so cheap, you know
what I mean. Yeah, before you took off, Yeah, right
right right. So the radio station that I was working
(09:09):
at was a country radio station, and the program director
in the meeting was like, hey, this guy Garth Brooks
is playing at the firefighters charity event. Does anyone want
to take the mobile studio go down there and and
interview him and stuff? And I'm like, no one raised
their hand. I was low man on the totem pole.
I'm like, I'll do it. It's okay, So off I go.
(09:31):
We had this big, giant RV mobile home that was
called the Roland Ranch, that's what they called it, and
I took it down there and Garth Brooks came in
and he and I had a short interview, but he
got the biggest kick out of my name being Sandy
and his wife at the time, yeah fortress, Ye, her
name was Sandy. And so we're leave, we're done, we're
(09:52):
walking off. He's like, hey, this is my wife, Sandy.
He goes. He's like, say show him around, blah blah blah.
I gotta go have a good time, okay. So she
and I is it for a few minutes and I
go and I meet my buddies that I went with.
I went, like with five other guys to the show
and show's over and I'm backstage taking down radio station
banners and you know, doing all that stuff that has
(10:12):
glamor stuff. Yeah, the glamorous stuff. Really anyway, what's funny
is I'm taking down a banner and Garth Brooks says, hey, man,
what are you doing. I just taking these banners down.
My buddies are waiting outside for me, getting ready to go,
probably go down to the bar or something. He goes,
you want to come back and hang out and grab
a beer. I'm like really. He goes, yeah, I go
(10:33):
get your buddies, just bring them on back. I'm like okay.
So I go back there, I get the guys, I
meet them outside. I'm like, hey, I can believe this.
But Garth Brooks would wants to hang out. You guys
want to go And they're like sure, except for one.
My friend Ron Barnes had met a girl at the
show and he said, I'm supposed to meet that girl
right here. So we go backstage and Garth Brooks were
(10:56):
just laughing, having a good time and one of his
people comes round. He goes, hey, get these guys some
shirts and hats and stuff, you know from the the
merchandise stuff. So he goes, I thought you said you
had five of your buddies. I go, yeah, Ron, stay,
he met a girl. He's out front, wait for her.
Girl trump skythreats right, and so is handing out the stuff,
(11:17):
and we get him to sign some eight x ten
pictures and there's another picture there which was for Ron,
and he wasn't there, and so he goes, what's his
name again? I go, his name's Ron. He goes, okay,
all right. So he takes out the picture and signs
it right in front of us. Ron. Hope she was
worth it, Garth. I hope he still has that. I
(11:38):
hope he does too.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
The funny thing about it is the girl never showed up. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
And then when that and when friends in Low Places hit,
it was like game changer. I was working at a
top forty and that was the big debate, do we play.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
This country song? It was that big yeah?
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Did you did? We eventually did? It was that big yeah.
You couldn't just let the country station have a song
that big, no right everywhere.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
So that's amazing. His story is incredible.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
That's a great story.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Still, if I saw Ron Barnes today, I'd still bring
it up. He'd still be mad about it. So Garth
Brooks coming in October, coda. So all those people that
you mentioned are on one bill.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Net Kaigo will perform on October seventeenth, Brooks on the eighteenth,
and the Turnpike Troubadours are on the nineteenth and tickets
are on sale.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Now I might go to that. Actually, I'm still mad
that I didn't go. So see Billy Joel.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
Oh God, that would have been such a great venue
to see him.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Didn't you go see EMINEMJB with Roley.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
No, not Eminem. I took her to see Kanye.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Oh wow. Kanye.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Kanye was the big headliner for for f one one year.
Was a good show, was good.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
She was with the friend down front and center, and
I finaggled and lied my way into the Crown Royal
tent you go, which was it's kind of up, it's
kind of vip up high to the the side of
the stage and back a bit.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
But so I just let them have their fun. I
will say this.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
At the time, like I couldn't stand Kanye, like I
didn't want to be near that stage. But after the show,
I was like, damn, so I'm one of those, like
a lot of people cannot put aside their personal tastes
to appreciate a great artist. And watching Kanye perform in
(13:40):
the crowd, reaction and the just the whole scene in general,
even though I can't stand the music, I was like, damn,
this is impressive.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
It's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
It was kind of blew me away.
