Speaker 4 (05:52):

Speaker 8 (05:54):
He asked to be shocked, he demanded to be shot,
and then he forced us to shoot him.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
So we oblige you Live Radio. I love right, I

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Let me just get straight here.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Yeah, yeah, just play one. See what happens.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
Nothing.
Speaker 9 (06:10):
We are following a deadly crime that started in Carlsbad
and ended up in a shootout in Orange County. The
thirty one year old gunman shot and killed a woman
during a carjacking in Carlsbad on Friday night.
Speaker 10 (06:21):
So the suspect eventually let officers on a brief chase
up in Orange County before he was killed in a
shootout with police. NBC seven's Calvin Henry joins US Now
from Carlsbad with an update on the investigation.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
Kelvin and now.
Speaker 11 (06:34):
Guys news are but the news about the story is
making a swear around the community right now, and this
cars Bad community is telling us that it is tragic
at this moment, right now and now. The suspect eventually
shot the victim right here, steps from where I'm standing
in that car jacking on Friday night. The suspect then
led the police on a car chase in Orange County,
got into a shootout, and now he is dead. Now
(06:56):
take a listen to what we know and exactly how
everything went down.
Speaker 12 (07:00):
But I remember specifically when the shots happened.
Speaker 11 (07:03):
Marina Scott lived steps away from the first crime scene,
and as we live in the tenth moments on Friday night.
Speaker 12 (07:09):
It was just a normal Friday night. I was just
screwing us on the couch and she was at the
hot time with her friend. And after she came home,
I did hear what sounded to be gunshots and it
was multiple.
Speaker 11 (07:23):
According to investigators, around nine to fifty three on Friday night,
officers responded to reports of shots fired here on Rising
Glen Way and Carlsbad. The victim died at the scene
after being shot several times. According to Carlsbad Police, they
say the women's car was taken in a carjacking They
say they used license plate router technology, which led the
(07:45):
investigation to Armors County. Investigators say after a short chase
with Newport Beach police, this suspect got out and this happened,
and NBC Los Angeles crew went to this scene of
the shootout, and I said fifty two shellcases scattered at
the scene. As Waldo Morales, who was on a late
night run for some food, says he saw everything.
Speaker 13 (08:07):
Honestly, I was kind of in shock. I was really
just like, is this really happening. And we saw the
chase going on, coming out the freeway, and you know,
we saw the helicopters, and then we got closer to
like the street, like the cord, and then we saw
them pulling off over here, and he kind of swerved
and then got out the car started shooting.
Speaker 11 (08:29):
The Orange County Sheriff's Department confirmed the suspect is dead.
No officers were injured in the incident, and NBC seven
is trying to identify the victim. We are in contact
with the police, the medical examiners als who were trying
to figure out if the suspect then victim knew each other.
Investigators say they believe this was an isolated incident and
there was no ongoing threat to the community. But Marina
(08:52):
is still giving her daughter some advice.
Speaker 12 (08:53):
I right away told her no more hot tub at night,
and we're going out there with friends.
Speaker 11 (09:01):
And now once again this is an active investigation in
the Karlsbad Police apartment is asking anyone within the information
related to the situation. So re shouts of them. Five
in Carlsbad, Kelvin Henry think seven.
Speaker 14 (09:12):
Thanks you convin.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Yeah, yeah, that was That was a taxpayer relief shot.
And I thought it was pretty good too. That was
marked by the way, in case you're keeping a track
in the control room, that was a nine to twenty
six one police shoot and kill a carjacker who had
murdered a woman. Now let's go back up and get
started where we're supposed to start. I have no idea
(09:36):
what's going to happen here. I'm going to click this.
Whether it plays or play, I don't know. This is
a homeowner confronts four men attempting to rob his home.
Speaker 15 (09:46):
But now that the breaking news have been tracking all night,
police a four men shot after they forced their way.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Into a home in East Houston.
Speaker 15 (09:52):
This is our top story on the website click to
Houston dot Com. It all started on Sherman in seventy
first Street, where we find Channel twoes Taysh Walker and
there's a lot going on Ty your show.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
What's the latest, Jacob.
Speaker 16 (10:05):
We are still outside of the home here on Sherman.
This is one of three scenes. The other two scenes
have cleared. You can see now that the sun is up.
You get a better idea of all of those orange
yellow excuse me, evidence markers are right in front of
that yard. And we just discovered at least twenty more
closer to the home where this home invasion robbery happened
(10:25):
about eight hours ago. We do know that two people
were home at the time. According to investigators, they say
someone inside of the home shot at the four men
who tried to break in. Now, we don't know if
any of the robbers ended up shooting back, although police
did find multiple casings from different guns outside of the home.
One did die in front of the house. Another was
(10:46):
injured in the leg. We were told that he is
in stable condition this morning at a hospital. Now, police
say the other two men drove off in an suv
a couple of blocks down the street to seventy first
in Harrisburg. That is the second scene that you're looking
at right there. We do know that one of the
men collapsed and was found in the backup seat of
that vehicle. Now there's that third scene that I mentioned earlier,
(11:09):
that is seventy first in Capital. We do know that
a fourth man was found there and taken to a
hospital where he later died. So right now, only one
of those four suspects ended up surviving. Police still speaking
with a homeowner and the other person that was at home.
At this point, we have not heard of any charges
of investigation.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
We'll continue.
Speaker 16 (11:29):
We'll have a live update for you in the next
half hour. For now, we rerecording live on the East
End Tayosha Walker Kick Carsey channel to.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
News and Dragon. Now, I don't know, let's see, I'm
going to try to XP. I'm going to close the file. Okay,
close the file.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Now.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
These are also today loaded in reverse order, so if
I know, you keep track of what I'm doing. So
now I'm going to go to those dated nine to nineteen.
This is number two police shoot and kill a man
who brought two knives to a gunfight.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
You out to Northwest DC because In the last forty
five minutes, we've learned the name of the man shot
and killed by DC police a few hours ago.
Speaker 9 (12:10):
So he is thirty one year old Jonathan Borich from Bethesda.
Speaker 10 (12:14):
Kelly Vaughan is following this story from the Palisades community.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
Kelly, do we know what started all of this?
Speaker 13 (12:21):
Well?
Speaker 17 (12:22):
Police say this actually started as a domestic incident. They
say they got a call from parents who say their
adult son was making threats to damage vehicles in the area.
Here a fifty one hundred block of Sharrier Place in
Northwest and police say that the suspect left the area
before officers arrived, but as they were investigating, he returned,
(12:43):
this time armed with two knives. Two officers on scene
say he was running around outside acting erratically with those knives,
and police say he was ignoring their commands to drop
the knives. Executive Assistant Chief of Police Andre Wright says
the man charged out the officers. He says one of
them did attempt to use their taser on the suspect
(13:05):
at least two times, but chief says it's unclear if
either of those times worked.
Speaker 18 (13:11):
The suspect continued to approach Both officers continue to ignore
the officer's commands. At that time, both officers deployed this
service weapon, striking the subject at least once.
Speaker 19 (13:26):
Right says.
Speaker 17 (13:26):
The officers called for medical assistance, but he died at
the scene. Now nobody else was injured in this incident.
Both of the officers that were involved are now on
administrative leave according to department policy. Today, Chief Right he
offered his condolences to the victim's family, and he tells
us that an investigation into what happened is underway.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Okay, I guess that was over.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Since I can't see, Maybe we should, you know, instead
of having like a listener dinner, maybe we should do
a go fundly to raise the what maybe four hundred
bucks to buy a new version of Adobe Audition.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Maybe we could do that, at least something more current
than version zero, which.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Has to be literally probably from what do you think,
nineteen ninety six.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Maybe, well, it's not cool at it because Cool that
it was two thousand, so it's it's it's right after that,
so it's Adobe. I think Adobe bought cool Edit and
then they took their software and created the Adobe one
point zero, all right, So this might be he's gotta
be two thousand and two thousand and one.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Yeah, so it's at least it's at least twenty years old.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Yeah, oh yeah, yah, it's definitely yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
And it's on top of the three eighty six Compact.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
I wish, I wish, I really wish I were joking
when I keep saying that these are windows ninety eight machines.
Speaker 20 (14:50):
I know.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Here's what I'm gonna do for the next one. This
is number two. One of suspect fires at police through
the door.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
See I get I've got in here. I can tell
you how long that is. It's forty seconds.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Okay, Well, I'm going to double click it. Just see
what happens. I double clicked it.
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Nothing, We'll see. There you go. You just got a
double click there, Michael.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
I double clicked it and nothing happened.
Speaker 5 (15:16):
Yes, now you hit the play button. This is the.
Speaker 21 (15:18):
Details tonight on the hour's long, deadly standoff in Bradenton
last night. Manitee County Sheriff says that it's connected to
an investigation into a robbery at a cannabis dispensary in August.
Last night, around six his deputies attempted to arrest the
suspected robber at his house.
Speaker 22 (15:35):
When the detectives were serving the search warrant, he fired
twelve shot from inside his bedroom through that closed door
into the living area where the deputies were. Then when
Swatter arrived, he fired at them through the bedroom window.
Speaker 21 (15:51):
Deputies did shoot back, killing the suspect. They've not released
his identity because they're still trying to notify family. No
one else was hurt.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Didn't the Beatles write a song about he fired at
her through the bathroom window?
Speaker 21 (16:03):
Came in details tonight on the ALPU.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
To double click there, Michael, No, I clicked it so
I could close it out and automatically started playing again.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Don't do that.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
I gotta close them.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Out so I can keep tracking where I am. Okay,
number two? What does suspect fires at the popo.
Speaker 7 (16:25):
Shooting everyone? And thank you for joining us today for
three at three. I'm Alex Coleman. We have a luck
to ever. But first, a man is dead and a
Bartlett police officer injured following in early morning shooting. Detectives
are telling your newsleader a man who is being served
a narcotic search warrant open fire. WRG Serita Patterson has
more and what led to the violence.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
For many hours.
Speaker 23 (16:49):
Local state as well as federal ages were here on
the scene, piecing together a shooting that left the area
cordoned off for quite some time as an investigation was launched.
It was just after six am Thursday when a woman
who lives here along Gilwood Avenue, just off North Watkins Street,
was awakened by a scary sound.
Speaker 10 (17:07):
Just a bunch of shots, just shots going off.
Speaker 23 (17:10):
This Memphis mother did not want to show her face,
but she did want to tell us she was not
alone inside the home, as.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
Her young son was there as well.
Speaker 23 (17:19):
As it turns out, a narcotic search warrant was being
served at her neighbor's home by Bartlett Police and those
with the Drug Enforcement Agency when shots were fired. Detectives
described by the person being served there was only one
thing the woman we spoke with could do in an
effort to stay out of harm's way.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Got you down.
Speaker 23 (17:38):
Investigators say when shots were fired by the man being served,
police returned fire. The man police were after was hit,
sadly dying here at the scene. An officer was also
struck by gunfire, having to be rushed to the hospital
and is.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Expected to be okay.
Speaker 23 (17:53):
This case is now in the hands of the TBI.
Recording for your newsleader, Jerita Petterson WRAS Channel three and.
Speaker 7 (18:01):
In a statement for Bartlett Police, they say, in part,
our thoughts and prayers are with all involved in this
tragic incident. By the way, we will have much more
on the officer involved shooting throughout the.
Speaker 13 (18:11):
Day, Michael, and dragging this behind the scenes inside baseball
stuff is great.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
I'm going to have to go back home tonight and
listen to the podcast of a time or two.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
This is hlarious.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
Ragging.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
And I rest my case. I told you that as
stupid as this deal is that we're having to deal with,
people are loving it because you know, they have the
same problems in their workplace, get the exact same crap
going on.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
I mean, we could have spent the five or ten
minutes prior to going on air at you know, five
point fifty five this morning and dealing with this issue,
seeing if it was an issue, but nah, let's do
it live on the air at nine oh six.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Well, and I just came in. Ryan had left Adobe
open with all the sound bites that.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
He often does, which is not a problem.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Will get me wrong, not complaining, And there's dealers five
thousand sound bites. DAN uses five out of the five thousand,
so I close it out Rather than try to close
five thousand sound bites out individually, I just close out
the program and reopen it and just mold them in
like I normally do. And then you tell me there
is You finally admit off there that there is a
(19:18):
glitch in version one point oh. It is actually to
your advantage.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
It's not a bug. It's a feature.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Yeah, it's a bug that they fixed in version two
point oh. That you and maybe that's why nobody wants
to change, because it's.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
To your advantage.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
Correct.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Yeah, yeah, all right, I have no idea where I
am or what I'm doing. Let's see, this is a
one and so oh this is great. A one suspect
on a bicycle points a gun at the popo.
Speaker 24 (19:46):
Really, we first told you about the story at midday,
and now we have new details that are just coming
into our newsroom within the hour. This is what the
portion of Green Springs Highway near Valleydale looked like a
little bit earlier today. The road was taped off, there
were evidence markers. Our crew saw a gun on the
ground even there. You see it here. Multiple officers were
(20:07):
working at this scene.
Speaker 11 (20:08):
Home.
Speaker 24 (20:08):
Would please say that they saw a man on a
bicycle riding in and out of all the lanes on
the highway, causing problems for drivers. Please say the man
eventually told officers who he was. The man had outstanding warrants.
Please say when they went to detain him, they asked
if he had any weapons, but would not cooperate. They
say that he pulled a pistol from his side, chambered around,
(20:29):
and pointed it at the officer. That's when they say
the officer shot him, and the man was pronounced dead
at the hospital. Officers say that the man refused officers
verbal commands and that the incident was captured on bodycam footage.
The album Attorney General's Office is investigating. Oh I, we
(20:49):
first told you about the story at midday And now.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
Okay, so this program that you've used for decades you're
having a hard time with right now, just won clarify
all that? Okay?
Speaker 3 (21:04):
All right?
Speaker 5 (21:04):
Continue?
Speaker 3 (21:07):
I hate your guts.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
First of all, I don't think I've ever other than
in the world's largest radio broadcasting company. I don't think
I've ever used Version one point zero other than right here.
You know, I've got the updated version and automatically up
based on the next version.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
That creative sweet or whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Yeah, for thirty nine to ninety five a month.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
You think the station's going to pay thirty if they
don't even pay us thirty five ninety five a month.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Exactly, sixteen year old family member shoots and kills an
armed intruder. Good for this kid, which didn't play.
Speaker 19 (21:47):
You have to hit every details in that horrific quadruple
shooting in Clay County that left two people dead, including
the suspect, and sent two others to the hospital.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Thank you for joining us tonight.
Speaker 25 (21:57):
I'm Jeanie Blaylock and I'm Heather Crawford. This it all
happened on Pine Oaks Lane, that's their Challenger Drive on
Monday around six am. Four people found shot inside of
the home. One of them died there at the scene.
Our Terry Gilliam is alive this evening with new information
on the shocking crime and Terry police say it appears
to be a random attack.
Speaker 5 (22:19):
Yeah, hither that's right.
Speaker 26 (22:20):
It was a bizarre situation and police say a sixteen
year old fired the shot that prevented the suspect from
causing more harm. There were new details in the chaotic
shooting that took place at this Middleburg home on Monday.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
The Clay County.
Speaker 26 (22:34):
Sheriff's Office says forty five year old Marico Lopez shot
three people in what appears to be in a random attack.
Speaker 14 (22:40):
It's unfortunate that now families can't even have dinner or
watch a movie in a living room with their kids
without looking out the window and wondering if someone's going
to part yet.
Speaker 26 (22:51):
Beth Hoffman was a neighbor and lives down the street.
We followed up with her after new details about the
shooting were released.
Speaker 14 (22:57):
Useless, unwarranted violence in a neighborhood that had nothing to
do with whatever was going on. Yeah, that's really awful.
Speaker 26 (23:08):
According to the Sheriff's office, Lopez and his wife left
their Jacksonville home after midnight and drove through Clay County
for hours. Investigators say they got a flat tire, but
Lopez proceeded to drive until the car broke down in
front of the home where the incident happened. At least
eight people were inside the home. The Sheriff's office reports
Lopez got out of the car armed, confronted a victim
in the front yard and forced him back into the home.
(23:30):
Once inside, investigators say Lopez shot a twenty one year
old woman and another man than thirty nine year old
Samantha Secone armed herself with a shotgun, but was shot
by Lopez before she could fire. She died at the scene.
Authority say a sixteen year old boy picked up that
same shotgun and fired at Lopez, critically injuring him. Lopez
