Speaker 1 (00:00):
Rather than the ice agent choosing the lethal form of
taxpayer relief shot. In the eternal words of Joe Biden,
one word cattle prod. The agent strunings have to touch them.
They just have to activate the shock. And I think
they get the message and it would make for great
videos of the reaction. It's almost like taser shots. It's
(00:23):
just fun handheld comedy.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Caution, you are about to experience the taxpayer relief shot
segment on the situation with Michael Brown. Caution, you are
about to experience the taxpayer relief shot segment on the
situation with Michael Brown. We do not necessarily relish the
death of any criminal, but we do celebrate our God
given and constitutional right to self defense in the event
(00:48):
that the criminal becomes DRT. The taxpayers spared the cost
of public defenders, court costs, incarceration, and continued parole supervision.
As the Sheriff of Center County, Florida says insert audio here,
or Sheriff Grady of Pope County says, insert audio here.
(01:10):
You have been warned listen at your own risks. Mike,
we call him taxpayer.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Every Friday at nine o'clock we do tax Payer relief shots,
and we call them tax payer relief shots. Primarily because
somebody's breaking in your house, you're more than welcome to
shoot him. In Centa's accounting, we prefer that you do.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Actually, hopefully you'll save the taxpayers money.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
And I would highly suggest that if a looter breaks
into your home, comes into your home while you're there
to steal stuff, that you take your gun and you
shoot him.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
You shoot him so that he looks like.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Grated cheese, because you know what, that's one loater that
won't break into anyone else's home.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
And as again as Sheriff Judge Judd.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Says, he asked to be shocked, to be shot, and
then he forced us to shoot him, so we obliged him.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
So we obliged him, which means that you really.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
Don't attack my deputies. Don't try to stab or shoot
my deputies, because if you do, we're gonna shoot you
a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
And I ran across a new one where the sheriff
says this.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
Hi, everyone, recently, lady called nine to one one here
in Penell County because someone was breaking into her house.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
There's some guy.
Speaker 8 (02:35):
He came to my door, but he went into my
neighbor's house.
Speaker 6 (02:39):
This dispatcher gave excellent advice. I'd like you to take
a moment and listen to it.
Speaker 8 (02:42):
He came into my garage. He's trying to get my
back dorse. Okay, lock your doors, keep them all locked.
Do you have a firearm with you? I do. He's
in my garage, he's trying to get in.
Speaker 9 (02:52):
Go get that firearm.
Speaker 10 (02:53):
I haven't done off.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Can't you go get that firearm? Wow? I'm just curious.
Would Denver City and County nine one one even ask
that question, let alone tell you to go get your firearm.
This is good.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
While the incident was still going on, sergeant was monitoring
the radio traffic, and this is his direction that he gave.
Speaker 8 (03:26):
If I is that RP, if the subjects trying to
get in the house, down the right to use force.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
I couldn't be more in agreement with what the direction
of my dispatcher gave and what the sergeant gave.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Over the radio.
Speaker 6 (03:36):
Remember, if you want personal protection, buy a gun, learn
how to use it, learn when you can use it.
I'm Sriff Ross people, and I approve of this.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Message, and so do we, Sheriff. We approve of it too.
As I say you, I don't listen to these I
hear them just as you do. We have several award
winners today, so let's get started. The first award winner
an apartment resident and a thug. An update in clear Water.
Speaker 11 (04:06):
Police just telling us a resident shot and killed a
man who broke into his apartment. This happens Saturday morning
at an apartment complex off King's Highway. Police say thirty
six year old Rodolfo Espinoza broke in then demanded money.
They say the man inside shot him.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Hey, you got some lead, gotta plug nicol. Let's see
this is a number two. The popo shoot and kill
an armed man who.
Speaker 12 (04:32):
Is breaking right now. Less than thirty minutes ago, Brazoria
County Sheriff's Office confirmed two deputies shot and killed a
man early this morning. It happened on the feeder road
of Highway two eighty eight, near County Road sixty two,
south of Manville. K PRC two reporter Rochelle Turner spoke
with a spokesperson from the Sheriff's office minutes ago. Rochelle's
(04:52):
joining us Live to break down what she's learned. Rochelle
certainly an active scene unfolding behind. Bring us up to speed.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
That good morning to you.
Speaker 10 (05:05):
As you mentioned, it's still a very active scene right here.
We're just off two eighty eight South found and right
here on the frontage road. So we know that this
all started early this morning when Brazoria County Deputies responded
to a disturbance call from a woman who said she
feared for her safety. Now, she warned deputies that a
(05:26):
band she knew the suspect in this case, he had
outstanding warrants for assault and he was on her way
to her house. Now, deputies didn't find the men at
the home, but they did spot a vehicle matching his
description committing a traffic violation nearby. Now, when they tried
to pull him over, the driver took off, leading deputies
(05:48):
on a dangerous high speed chase. Even they told us
that he was driving down the wrong way down to
eighty eight. Now, the pursuit ended when the suspect crashed
into a ditch ran into a wooded area near Service
Road sixty four in pembro Sharon. Deputies called in additional resources,
including k nines, drones and other officers. I set up
(06:10):
a perimeter and to protect nearby residents and inside the
woods as deputies trying to take him into custody. They say,
the suspect before they pulled out a knife and that's
when at least two deputies fired their weapons. As you mentioned, Zach,
the suspect was airlifted to the hospital where he died.
We did ask the public information officer was this a
(06:32):
case of domestic violence, and this is what he told us.
Speaker 13 (06:35):
I don't want to speculate on the state of the
victim here, I can't tell you further on. After the
deputies were able to go pursue the suspect into the
wooded area as they were trying to take him into custody,
the suspect did present a knife and at that point
that is when deputies, to at least two deputies, discharged
their weapons and the suspect was taken via lifelight. The
(06:58):
CPR was happening, he was receiving emergency medical attention that
he was later declared deceased at the hospital.
Speaker 10 (07:08):
Now right now, that man's name has not been released,
still pending after they notify family members, but as part
of any police department's investigation, those two officers they have
been placed on administrative leave. Until investigators are able to
collect more evidence from drones and nearby surveillance video that
(07:31):
they say they are going to be using as part
of their investigation. But again, this is going to be
another it's going to be an active scene behind us
for a few hours. We asked the Public Information officer
how long this role would be closed that she said
it could be for a few hours. Of course, we're
going to stay out here and we'll have another live
report coming up at nine o'clock for now, reporting live
(07:51):
in Rasharon Jessic, Visoria County. I Roschell Turner KPRC two News.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
That's a good text player relief Shah. He said, I'm confused.
I thought I heard the reporter say. I asked the
Public Information officer, the PIO, whether this was a domestic
violence case, and the PIO said, well, I can't really
comment on the condition of the suspect. Did you misunderstanding?
(08:18):
Did I misunderstand? It was confusing the Poplo shooting kill
another suspect.
Speaker 14 (08:24):
This can't be a County deputies Shannon killed a man
at the Army's Restaurant on Highway ninety eight in Pensacola. Today,
family members are identifying him as thirty seven year old
Daniel Lewis Hayes. Keiffany said he was wanted on felony
warrants from a domestic violence case back on June thirteenth.
The Sheriff's office says Hayes committed domestic battery, strangulation, aggravated
(08:45):
assault by holding a screwdriver to the victim's throat, burglary,
and grand theft. Kelly Sample was joining us now from
the scene with more Haley.
Speaker 15 (08:55):
Bob.
Speaker 16 (08:55):
All afternoon, family members surrounded this Arby's grieving the sudden
loss of Daniel Hayes.
Speaker 10 (09:00):
And deputy say.
Speaker 16 (09:01):
It all started around three o'clock this afternoon when they
received a call that Hayes was seen at this restaurant.
Family members tell me Daniel Hayes worked in the kitchen
at this Arby's. When deputies arrived, they spotted Hayes in
the parking lot. Officers say Hayes fled inside after seeing
the deputies. Three deputies then followed Hayes into the restaurant.
Deputy say Hayes jumped over the counter and struggled with
(09:24):
a deputy before pushing one of them to the ground.
They say Hayes then grabbed a large knife and ignored
several commands to drop it. When Hayes moved aggressively towards them,
the deputies opened fire with the knife still in his hand.
All three deputies fired at Hayes, striking him several times.
I spoke with Hayeses on earlier today, off camera. She
tells me this behavior is uncharacteristic of her nephew.
Speaker 17 (09:45):
He's not a mean person.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
He's not a bad person. He did he was always
smiling and this is some book.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
I want to see some cameras out of artists and police.
Speaker 18 (09:57):
Dash cams or they body cans.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
That's what we want.
Speaker 19 (10:01):
But I know that what they're saying, that's not my nephew.
Speaker 16 (10:03):
Deputy say Hayes died on the scene. No deputies or
bystanders were injured during the encounter. A spokesperson with the
Sheriff's office says FDL will take over the investigation from here,
and according to the Sheriff's office, all three deputies will
be put on administrative leave as the investigation continues. Five
in Escambia County. I'm Haley Sample.
Speaker 15 (10:25):
I went the video from the Arby's because that's not
my nephew, Yeah, you never do that.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Okay, let's look at the video. Sexual assault suspect points
a gun at the popo. Wonder what happens.
Speaker 20 (10:41):
The Utah County Sheriff's Office says their SWAT team killed
an armed suspect in Eagle Mountain today. They say a
victim of sexual assault being treated at a hospital reported
the assault early this morning, leading the Utah County SWAT
team to serve as warrant at the suspect's home at
(11:02):
about noon. They say the suspect pointed the handgun at them,
leading to them opening fire, killing the suspect. No law
enforcement officers were injured. The incident is under investigation by
the Utah County Critical Officer Involved Protocol Team.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Critical Officer Involved Team, Critical Officer Okay. Another award winner,
an armed homeowner confronts seven seven teenagers.
Speaker 19 (11:36):
One teenager his dad, another in the hospital.
Speaker 21 (11:38):
At for a homeowner allegedly caught them breaking into his garage.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Good evening, everybody, I'm rupe Riz.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
And I'm Mammy laying.
Speaker 10 (11:44):
The teens shot in White Lake early this morning were
reportedly part of a larger group on the man's property.
Speaker 22 (11:50):
Fox to Scott Walchak has the latest from police.
Speaker 21 (11:56):
A total of seven shots fired at seventeen means. One
of the teenagers died on the way to the hospital
and was found here just to street away on Halfpenny
in Commerce. A second team was also hurt. The other
five scattered after the shooting.
Speaker 18 (12:14):
You thought it was fireworks.
Speaker 10 (12:15):
No dogs went off, nobody woke up, nobody knew nothing.
Speaker 21 (12:20):
White Lake Township police say the group of teens triggered
security cameras in this garage on mannd In Drive after midnight.
The homeowner took defense into his own hands.
Speaker 10 (12:30):
He actually, you know, did injure one of them, which
is good, Get off my long kind of thing.
Speaker 21 (12:36):
Brandy is a neighbor who caught the shooting on camera,
but only wanted to share the audio. She says this
garage has been broken into three times in the past year.
Speaker 10 (12:46):
I hope you all get caught. I hope that the
injury hurts for a while.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
We don't know what brought them there.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Police searching for answers as the.
Speaker 21 (12:55):
Investigation unfolds, and have one eighteen year old and one
miner in looking for anyone else involved.
Speaker 18 (13:03):
The randomness of it, you know, just it's an unfortunate incident.
We don't want this kind of thing to happen, so
we're gonna we're gonna work to bring it to a close,
and we just asked that people stay safe.
Speaker 21 (13:14):
The homeowner has spoken with investigators. It'll be up to
the prosecutor whether there will be charges or if this
shooting was justified. In White Lake, Scott Walchek Fox Too New,
what do you think justified?
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Not justified? Yeah, I think justified too. Another award winner.
An armed thug tries to rob a car owner.
Speaker 23 (13:36):
And with a concealed carry license, shot and killed a
man who was trying to rob him. This happened just
before eleven last night in the fourteen hundred block of
North Artesian A. Police say the concealed carry holder was
getting something out of his car when a man with
a gun walked up and tried to rob him. A
victim pulled out his own gun and opened fire, shooting
(13:56):
and killing that suspect. Police say the suspect was eighteen
years old, but have not released his identity.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Had a lot of teenagers so far today, lots of teenagers.
Have you thought about so you're you're I just imagine
you're leaning into your car trying to get something, and
you stand or you hear somebody or they say something
to you, and you kind of pull yourself out of
your car and stand up, and there's a gunpointed at you.
(14:23):
It takes Cahones at that point, which I don't think
you have any choice, but nonetheless, it takes Cojones at
that point to pull your own weapon and shoot him
before he shoots you. That's a dang good award winner.
Homeiner comes home, finds an intruder.
Speaker 9 (14:41):
But the nine one one call that brought Akron police
to a home on Kent Court around seven fifteen Wednesday
night was equally strange and scary.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
I have some strange guy upstairs in my house. I
don't and he's passed out.
Speaker 9 (14:56):
The caller repeatedly said he didn't know who the man
was or if he was alive.
Speaker 8 (15:01):
I don't know who it is and I didn't even
know he was here until I just went upstairs and
seen someboddy laying on the floor.
Speaker 9 (15:09):
Police thought this was going to be a burglary case,
but instead discovered a homicide. The stranger, identified as thirty
two year old Andrew Cassell, was dead shot multiple times.
Police found a gun and shellcasings, but neighbors like Stephen
Jones are still hoping for more answers.
Speaker 19 (15:25):
Oh what the is going on?
Speaker 24 (15:29):
I mean, you know, if you don't know him, you know,
you come home and you find somebody that could think
is sleeping, and then you find out that they've been
shot to death.
Speaker 9 (15:39):
There are just so many unanswered questions, chief among them,
who is the killer? And did the gunman get away
going this way on Kent Court or going this way
towards Kent Street, And did any neighborhood cameras capture anything
that could help solve this mystery. Lieutenant Michael Murphy says
detectives don't know how the stranger got in the home
(15:59):
or or why he was inside. At this point, there
are no suspects in his death.
Speaker 25 (16:04):
While the circumstances remain cloudy at this point. But we're
really trying to work through this and just figure out,
you know, why this gentleman was in the house, how
he ended up there, who he may have been with,
or who did this to him.
Speaker 9 (16:18):
Steven says it's very important for police to figure out
who's responsible for the deadly shooting so his neighborhood can
rest a little easier.
Speaker 24 (16:26):
Because if they do it once, you know, now you know, hey,
do they got to taste of blood? Dirt you have
it or you know, I'd like to know.
Speaker 9 (16:37):
Why he did it in Akron Bob Jones NEOs five.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
That's that's a great award winner. You come home, you
find somebody, you pull your weapon. But oh, I not
call nine one one, I don't. I think they're passed out.
Oh it turns out there dead. Oh somebody else shot them?
Who shot them? Well, they could have gone this way
or they could have gone that way, and then the neighbor.
Speaker 15 (17:00):
I'd like to know what went on mine, you know,
and if they got the taste the blood, you know,
they'll come back again. They're just like mountain lions. They're
just like bear. Hey, you get to taste of blood,
they'll be back again. That's a fantastic one. Okay, another
award winner a homeowner. That's all you need to know.
Speaker 17 (17:19):
The resident of a home has shot and killed a
person who was breaking in up by Redby, Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
That's all you need to know. Now we'll finish it
after the break. I'd like the guy's tone. The resident
of a home has a resident of a home has
killed somebody. News and Film at eleven.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
By, you're hearing backpipes again.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Not only am I hearing bagpipes again, but then when
I come back into the studio from the break, I
just glance over at that little pissant station over there,
and they got a couple of guys in kilts outside
the studio. So it's not imagining bagpipes your world. Kilts
equal bagpipes in my world, generally speaking. Yes, I mean
(18:29):
if you were wearing a kilt, first of all, after
I finished vomiting, then I would think, Yeah, he didn't
play bagpipes. He's just I don't wear bagpipes.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
I don't play bagpipes, but I do have a kilt.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
You do have a kilt. You take to the Renaissance Fair,
don't you? Yeah? My wife and I are going tomorrow.
Oh you are? Yeah, Well send photos of the kilt, pervert.
Don't send anything. Eight blessing I want to do is
(19:03):
think about you. So just don't send any true no text,
no photos, no nothing. All. Right, back to this award winner.
The reporter is all excited.
Speaker 17 (19:16):
The resident of a home has shot and killed a
person who was shot and killed up by Redby, Minnesota.
This in from the Red Lake Police Department July ninth. Today,
Red Lake Dispatch received a call from a homeowner in
the Redby District that a male subject had kicked the
(19:38):
door open to the residents. The caller advised Red Lake
Dispatch that the person was shot after forcing his way
into the residents. Red Lake officers responded and upon arrival
observed the subjects in the home performing life saving measures
on the person who had been shot. Officers took over
and requested Red Lake EMS as well. The mail was
(20:00):
pronounced deceased on scene by ems. A. Red Lake Department
of Public Safety along with the FBI were assisted by
the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension with processing of the scene.
This remains an open investigation. Anyone with information is asked
to contact the Red Lake Department of Public Safety at
(20:21):
two point eight six seven nine three three one three
or the FBI at seven sixty three five six nine
eight thousand. I'm Neil Carlson reporting for I News Dot TV.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Greg.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Can you help me with something? Are you still hearing bagpipes? No?
What's What's a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension? That just cops?
Cops right. Is that is that a police department? Is
that how you avoid defund the police movements? Because this
(20:56):
is Minnesota, so that's the ort origination of defund the cops.
So is that we'll call it the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Just changed the name and move On're right? A man
from Michigan. Ooh, okay, here we go.
Speaker 26 (21:16):
But also tonight we should tell you three people are
in the hospital after somebody opened fire on a Border
patrol facility in a different part of Texas. This is
in McAllen today. Police there say Border patrol agents and
local police shot and killed this person after he started
firing shots outside the building. Apparently this person never made
it inside, but ended up hurting one Border Patrol employee
and two police officers. One was shot in the knee.
(21:39):
They're all expected to be okay. We're also learning more
details about the suspect. He's twenty seven years old. Police
say he was reported missing from a nearby Texas town
just an hour before the shooting. Officials say his car
had weapons and AMMO inside and was covered in some
kind of writing. Our Kathy Park has more. Kathy is
joining us now. Is there anything else.
Speaker 10 (21:59):
That we know?
Speaker 26 (21:59):
About them motive here about what was written on this car,
any signals and investigators are getting from that.
Speaker 16 (22:06):
Yeah, so Halle.
Speaker 22 (22:06):
According to the McCallum police chief, this was a premeditated attack, right,
he said. This individual drove to the location, he came armed. Now,
whether the suspect planned this in a matter of minutes
or a few months, that's still unclear. At this point
you mentioned that car, well, it belonging to the suspect.
It was found in the parking lot. And not only
(22:27):
did investigators find additional weapons and AMMO in the vehicle,
there was some spray painting on the outside of the car.
There was a Latin phrase CORDICs Die or day of
the Heart. Here's more from the police chief on that.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Take a listen.
Speaker 19 (22:42):
The car has got some spray painting on it.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
There seems to be some language on it. We don't
understand it. I don't understand it. That is, I maybe Latin,
but I do not know what it is.
Speaker 22 (22:54):
And Halley, of course, we don't want to speculate on
the messaging behind this. But all this is being entered
into evidence right now and the FBI will be taking
over the investigation at this point.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
Kathy Park.
Speaker 26 (23:05):
Thank you very much for the update on that. Appreciate
you stand on top of it.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Could you like the little lean.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Got annoying really quickly after the very one, It's like, right,
stop it your professional news organization to.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Another award winner road rage.
Speaker 27 (23:22):
All right, now, the details on the investigation into a
deadly road rage incident in Allentown, please say, the driver
of an Audi went after the driver of a Prius
with a metal baseball bat. And that's when they say
the driver.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Of the wait what after went after a Prius? Yeah?
Speaker 27 (23:42):
Okay, all right, now the details on the investigation into
a deadly road rage incident in Allentown, please say, the
driver of an Audi went after the driver of a
Prius with a metal baseball bat. And that's when they
say the driver of the Prius pulled out a gun
and then shot the other driver. Actually the port Walter
pres is live from Allentown tonight with more on what
(24:03):
happened Walter.
Speaker 28 (24:05):
Or it will give you right now a live look
at the memorial set up an honor of the man
who was killed. But tonight investigators tell Action News the
person who died appears to have been the aggressor in
this case, so we set up a memorial for the aggressor.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
So the guy that was committing the road rage is
the one that gets the memorial. Got it.
Speaker 28 (24:27):
Kills in Lehigh County have identified the person killed as
thirty five year old Tamir Johnson of Whitehall Township. Allentown
Mayor Matt Turk says, there's only one way to describe
this case.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
It's senseless.
Speaker 7 (24:39):
It's a product of people kind of losing the cool
and having, in my estimation, too easy access to guns.
Speaker 28 (24:48):
Investigators are referring to this case as a road rage.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Come on, no, someone who does not know how to
be responsible with a gun?
Speaker 28 (24:58):
How about that that unfolded very early Sunday morning on
the four hundred block of West Hamilton Street in Allentown.
Investigators say they believe that Johnson, who was driving an Audi,
overtook another driver behind the wheel of a Prius. Johnson
then allegedly forced the prius to the curb, got out
of his vehicle carrying a baseball bat, then reportedly struck
(25:20):
the driver's side door of the prius.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
With that bat.
Speaker 28 (25:23):
That's when the driver of the prius pulled out a
handgun and fired one shot. Striking Johnson in the torso.
The driver of the Prius then drove about two blocks away,
pulled over, and called police. Johnson was pronounced dead a
short time later. Mayor Turk sums up what happened like this.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
Motorists was attacked by another motorist and acted in self
defense and that fired a single shot which resulted in
the death of the aggressor.
Speaker 28 (25:50):
We spoke with people here in Allentown to get their
opinions about this case.
Speaker 15 (25:54):
You shouldn't shoot people, pretty much, should not shoot people.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
He did shoot multiple times, shot once and drove off
and then pulled safely and called the cops. So he
did everything correct in my opinion.
Speaker 28 (26:07):
Now, the driver of the Prias does have a license
to carry. That person has not been identified publicly by
investigators because as of tonight, no charges have been filed.
Reporting live from Allentown, Walter Perez Channel six Action News Right.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Now, Dragon did did the aggressor also have a gun?
I believe that's the way that they implied. Yeah, that's
what they imply there right least say, and I like
how they present two opposing points of view. Well, he
just shouldn't be shooting. Just don't shoot. Okay, well, what
do you want me to do? And I thought they
forced the prius off the road, didn't I hear that
(26:43):
in the story? Yep, it's well, okay, that is a
good award winner. Let's do one more before the break.
The family Dollar is a dangerous place.
Speaker 10 (26:54):
A breaking news update here this morning.
Speaker 12 (26:57):
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office confirms it's investigating an officer involved
shooting in Sherwood for US on Suetel Drive.
Speaker 22 (27:03):
This is a live update less lesson in.
Speaker 19 (27:05):
Your customers go inside and just shortly after eight he's inside,
walking around with a mask on, already not really saying anything.
There's one customer down one of the aisles, so they
don't see the suspect what he does, but they hear
him make a statement to the clerk give me the
money or I'll shoot you. So there is store video
of the incident. So that person that heard it but
(27:25):
didn't see it, I'd already seen him walking around the store.
So he calls it into jayso puts out a suspect
description of what this guy looked like. So his officers
are responding. One of the officers coming to the area
observes a person matching that description running from the scene
and puts it over the radio. Hey there's someone matching
the screen run from the area. A second officer responding
(27:45):
sees the suspect picks it up over here off of
Norfolk and runs up to him, pulls a car over,
gets out. The suspect takes off again. They engage in
a short foot pursuit. He chases him around one of
the buildings down Norfolk. As they come around, he's given
him repeat it commands to stop, drop, get on the ground, stop.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Stop.
Speaker 19 (28:04):
He finally catches up to him and as he's taken
him into custody, he takes him down on the ground.
The suspect is dropping the money and stuff there at
the scene, and as the officer's on top of him
getting ready to secure him, the suspect kind of moves
to his right and fires two rounds. One of the
rounds does hit our officer in the leg. He's at
the hospital now. The officer returns fire and choose the suspect.
(28:25):
That's the scene, so Jfard responds. The officer actually does
a really really good job and immediately provides medical care
to himself, puts a tourniquet, on his leg. Other officers
respond and help out. They provide scene you know, medical,
you know, they're doing their services there at the scene.
Jfard responds transports both to local hospital. The suspect did
(28:47):
not survive his injuries. I'm not putting his information out
yet because next to Ken has not been notified. I
can tell you it's a twenty year old blackmail. The
officer is at the hospital in stable condition. His name
is all Officer Luis l UIs Mercado m eer c
ad O, the third ID eight four six seven eight.
(29:08):
He's been here four years. It's his first officer involved incident.
This is our tenth of the year. The investigation is
still ongoing. The State Attorney's office is here conducting their investigation,
and with that we can take a few questions.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Who's gun was it?
Speaker 9 (29:23):
Was it the suspects gun or any indication at this point,
what do you mean in.
Speaker 14 (29:27):
Terms of the gun used, like was it stolen to
they have ownership of Vega Deserve.
Speaker 19 (29:32):
That's all being looked at. But yeah, the suspects gun
has been recovered at the scene. I don't know if
he owned it or what. He's got a pretty extensive
record he just got out of prison May of twenty fourth,
May have twenty twenty four. He was in for a
bunch of charges, like he had a bunch of auto
theft charges, drugs, introduction of contraband, robbery by sudden snatching,
he had an aggravated battery on a pregnant female. And
(29:53):
like I said, he just got out May of twenty four,
So obviously he can't buy a gun. So you know,
do the math, we'll figure out.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Where it came in.
Speaker 10 (30:01):
The suspect live in the area.
Speaker 19 (30:03):
That's all being looked at. Way, don't know yet.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Sounds like a pretty good upstanding citizen.
Speaker 29 (30:08):
Michael, I really appreciate the taxpayer relief recording where the
dispatcher said, if you have a gun, get it, and
the woman says, yes, I do, and she goes and
gets it. She tells the perpetrator, I have a gun
and I will shoot you. That is fantastic and we
need to hear more of those. Oh and by the way,
(30:30):
here's a piece of advice, lock your doors in your
house and your garage twenty four seven.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Good advice, and I agree.
Speaker 30 (30:38):
An extensive investigation is underway in East Sloboc. Five people
were shot and a police officer used deadly forced to
take down the shooter CASEBD News Channel Even's Jayden Santos
joins us to outline what we know so far.
Speaker 16 (30:52):
Jaden Madeline love It.
Speaker 31 (30:55):
Police were calling you in Cherry Avenue and park Way
Drive just before three point thirty for a report of
a fight and progress. When officers got there, they found
someone shooting into a crowd of roughly one hundred. Police
Chief Seth Herman said an officer told the suspect to
show his hands. That's when the suspect ran and officers chased. Then,
the chief says, the suspect pointed the weapon at the crowd,
and that's when an officer shot the suspect, whose name
(31:16):
has yet to be released. This is a bodycam photo
the department provided.
Speaker 17 (31:21):
Herman said.
Speaker 31 (31:22):
After the suspect was on the ground, he then went
for his weapon again, and that is when an officer
fired a second shot. This all unfolded within about thirty seconds.
Chief Herman understands people want answers now, but he wants
to be sure the department has all the facts first.
Speaker 32 (31:37):
At this stage the investigation, we recognize that people want
to see the bodycam footage.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
As I explained earlier, at.
Speaker 32 (31:45):
This time, we are unable to release that bodycam footage
simply because of its evidentiary nature.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
And the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Speaker 31 (31:53):
As the investigation unwinds, Herman says to not necessarily believe
everything you see on social media in regards to the investigation.
Speaker 32 (32:00):
Information out there on social media unless it's put out
by this department is false. I say that because there
is nobody who witnessed all this event in its entirety
except for our personnel and their body cameras.
Speaker 31 (32:16):
Hertman wants to ensure the community that this investigation is
a top priority and that the department is committed to
maintaining transparency at all times.
Speaker 32 (32:24):
Would be remiss if we simply started pushing out every
narrative that we have come up with or has been
presented to us by a witness or potential witness.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
What don't believe everything you read on social media and
shocked
