underperformed what they hoped he would andunderwent a shoulder surgery recently and probably won't
be ready to do anything until trainingcamp. And at this point you would
have to look at that and say, he's just this side of being a
bust. He's on bustwatch. It'searly, the surgery hurts, it's early.

And one of the things about rookiesin the NFL, this is a
mostly true statement, the closer youline up to the football, the harder
the transition is from college to theNFL. Defensive tackles a lot of times

NBA people and they swat his shotand he can only turn to his right
and make a lap. You can'tplay in the league if you're a defensive

Then you show up and you go, haha, I'm bigger and stronger,

if I am your size and strengthor even a little bit more, but

And so for Mazzie Smith, he'sgot to figure that out, and he's
gonna have to do it after herecovers from his shoulder surgery, So that's
that's a tough spot. They dohave one other defensive tackle on the roster.
His name is Carl Davis. Don'tworry about it. He's a journeyman

who the last three years he's thirtytwo years old. In the last three
years he basically plays a couple ofsnaps sometimes in some games, and a
lot of times he doesn't play,so not a factor. So that's a
really big need for the Cowboys.You said, yea journeyman, yes,

Golston who's an end, plays sometackle, but too small to be a
tackle, not really athletic enough tobe a guy that can pass rush at

stop the run? And when youmove an end to tackle, he ain't
stopping the run. Yeah, Soit's a pretty big need. And it

hardest and that's interesting, like theirprimary goal this offseason appears to be so

the last year of his deal tonot do something and I request one thing

they need anybody who could maybe makea roster. They need somebody who can

play NFL football for real. Theyneed a top three in their rotation defensive
tackle, they need it, Andthey need a starting running back, a
starting left tackle, a starting center, and they need guys who can play
NFL football at linebacker, defensive end, and corner. And they don't really

you're two weeks and two days fromdrafting, I could feel way better about
this thing. That's a lot,man, if they had just done what
they do every off season with fivepeople, with just one guy that will
be here and I think will bea good player. So it's not like

it's a high risk thing. Youcould take that money and Tyron Smith could
be on this team and Jonathan Hankinscould be on this team. Now we're
not worried about defensive tackle. We'renot worried about a starting left tackle.

draft with three picks at most thatyou can realistically hope in a good scenario

you can hit on. So wegot three picks, and I need a
left tackle, a center, adefensive tackle who plays not that's on the
team, a linebacker who plays,a wide receiver who plays a defensive end
who's in my top four or five, a corner who's in my top four.

And so for Mazzie Smith, he'sgot to figure that out, and he's
gonna have to do it after herecovers from his shoulder surgery, So that's
that's a tough spot. They dohave one other defensive tackle on the roster.
His name is Carl Davis. Don'tworry about it. He's a journeyman
(11:26):
who the last three years he's thirtytwo years old. In the last three
years he basically plays a couple ofsnaps sometimes in some games, and a
lot of times he doesn't play,so not a factor. So that's a
really big need for the Cowboys.You said, yea journeyman, yes,
and that's it, and that's it. Oh wow. Technically they have Chauncey
(11:48):
Golston who's an end, plays sometackle, but too small to be a
tackle, not really athletic enough tobe a guy that can pass rush at
end. So he's like a tweenerthat can play some snaps whatever, but
not the sort of thing they're lookingfor. They're looking for, can we
stop the run? And when youmove an end to tackle, he ain't
stopping the run. Yeah, Soit's a pretty big need. And it
(12:09):
just takes me back to what's kindof in the point of the off season
for the Cowboys, which drives mebonkers, is that they're not trying their
hardest and that's interesting, like theirprimary goal this offseason appears to be so
far twenty five and twenty twenty six, which is a weird thing to do
(12:33):
with a head coach in the lastyear of his deal and a quarterback in
the last year of his deal tonot do something and I request one thing
from them, just one. Butthey appear to be obsessed with all the
bad contracts they've signed, all thepeople whose moneies they've pushed back, and
they're on the precipice of eating allthat money. Some of it they've been
(12:56):
eating Zeke money they're still paying.Hope they at least wash it. Yeah,
they'll wash it and then they'll eatit. And they peer obsessed with
that because every year what we hearabout from the Cowboys is and it's just
a blip on the radar that nobodycares because salary cap stuff, nobody cares.
It's minutia to most sports fans.You're like, no, tell me
about what we're gonna do in thefootball game. But every year you'll have

five or six guys where it's likerestructure, restructure, restructure, And what
that does is that moves their moneyto later so that we can have guys
now, because we're trying to win, and that's what every team does.
This year, I think there's asuper obvious candidate to do that with.
And every year, every obvious candidatethey do it with. And some guys
that you'd be like, wow,you might want to get rid of him
(13:39):
soon. That's gonna hurt later.You shouldn't do that. They'll do those
ones too. This year. Ijust wanted them to do the super obvious
one, and that's Trayvon Diggs.Do you believe that Trayvon Diggs is going
to be here in three years,two years, three years and be a
good football player? Yeah? Ido too. Those are the guys who
you go, Okay, move thatmoney and we'll figure it out. Yeah.

And they could have done that,and they could have had eight million
dollars to spend. So like rightnow they have seven million dollars to spend.
That could have been eight more.Now I have fifteen million dollars to
spend. What could I do withfifteen million dollars? Well, the Cowboys
right now, we just talked aboutdefensive tackle. They need one and not
they need anybody who could maybe makea roster. They need somebody who can

play NFL football for real. Theyneed a top three in their rotation defensive
tackle, they need it, Andthey need a starting running back, a
starting left tackle, a starting center, and they need guys who can play
NFL football at linebacker, defensive end, and corner. And they don't really
(14:48):
have a third starting wide receiver.There's a lot of things, and when
you're two weeks and two days fromdrafting, I could feel way better about
this thing. That's a lot,man, if they had just done what
they do every off season with fivepeople, with just one guy that will
be here and I think will bea good player. So it's not like
(15:09):
it's a high risk thing. Youcould take that money and Tyron Smith could
be on this team and Jonathan Hankinscould be on this team. Now we're
not worried about defensive tackle. We'renot worried about a starting left tackle.
I've scratched two. But instead theCowboys are about to go into an NFL
draft with three picks at most thatyou can realistically hope in a good scenario
(15:35):
you can hit on. So wegot three picks, and I need a
left tackle, a center, adefensive tackle who plays not that's on the
team, a linebacker who plays,a wide receiver who plays a defensive end
who's in my top four or five, a corner who's in my top four.
I need seven things and I gotthree picks. Sounds like a problem.
(15:58):
They're it's a weird offseason, likethat's that's something you do when you're
rebuilding as you go. This isa step back here. But you can't
have a step back here when youhave Dak Prescott, Michaeh Parsons, Ceedee
Lamb, Tank, Lawrence Trayvon Diggs, Deron Bland, Zach Martin. You
can't. You're in the hunt towin the NFC East. And I don't

know if you're the favorite today,but if not, your neck and neck
with Philly like you are every year. And they're just doing the most conservative
stuff I've ever seen them do,and they're always somewhat conservative. But the
fact that you haven't just signed arandom three million dollar player at defensive tackle,
ore linebacker or corner or filly runningback. Oh yeah, then you're

starting running back. I saw thesome headlines about Zeke maybe coming back,
which would not be anything. Ifeel like then just be a nothing.
I think that would be the mostJerry Jones answer to this offseason ever,
because fans look, because the numberthe number of fans that would go hell

yeah, because the number of bigtime fans who pay a lot of attention
that tell me when I do YouTubestuff. We missed Zeke. I'm like
what, because we talked to it. You might have been out because the
story was that there's mutual interest betweenZeke and the Cowboys. Yeah, because
the Cowboys liked how he looked inthe last five weeks when he was the

lead running back in New England.And the last five weeks he average less
than three yards of carry. Youaverage less than three yards of carry and
I don't know your name. Younever play in the NFL again. Yeah,
and they're pretending that there's something goodabout it. How do you like
the way somebody that averages three yardsof carry looks? I don't know,
because because you don't know what andyour Jerry, you know what. I

still bet it happens. If hecomes, that's fine, but you can't
on him to be the number one. You can't. But it's it's a
very cowboy way. Yes, I'mpacifying the masses. Yeah, And it
doesn't because I don't think it computesto a lot of the fan base.
The sentence I'm about to say,Rico Daudele is better than Ezekiel Elliott.

He's better, but you've never heardof him. He's never rushed for a
thousand yards. He's better than Zeke. Whoever you draft in the third round
will be better than Zeke today.He's done. But we don't do that.
We hold on to where they weredrafted and how good they were once
upon a time, and we pretendthat it can be that way again.
It's like, Zeke's gonna get here, He's gonna fix our short yardage,

and Tony Poller didn't score on hisgoal line carries, and I'm like,
yes, you're right, I wouldlike someone better at that. Guess who
wasn't last year the guy you want. Stop worrying about him. Just bring
him on and give him some madeup role with the staff. That's what

coach Zeke Elliott. Yes, runningback quality control. So anyway, I

was thinking about that when I waslooking at a defensive tackle because I'm like,
Okay, I know what they're gonnado. With their first three picks.
The first three picks are gonna besome combination of offensive line, running
back, linebacker, offensive line.Like it might be two offensive line and
a running back. It might beoffensive line, linebacker, running back.
There's a chance you could throw awide receiver in that mix. But there's

seven things that I need and I'mgonna get three, and the odds are
all three of those aren't even gonnahit. And it's just weird that they're
not trying their best, that's all. It's just weird. That's my question.
