Let's begin the show by starting it. Look at us, Hey, look
at us, Look at us.Who would have thought not me? Two

(00:44):
oh three is our time, threeminutes past two pm Central daylight time.
According to the Tower of the inthe Mercantia, your tuner is set to
ninety seven one the Freak. Thisis the speakeasy warms s greetings to one

(01:12):
in all, no matter where youare, no matter how you may be
receiving this electronic radio transmission. Itis Tuesday, the twenty third of April,
and we are prepared to edify youwith sports and all of that implies

(01:34):
for the next four hours until thewitching hour of six o'clock tonight. Now,
I would imagine right about now you'reasking, okay, exactly who is
this week that you so cavalierly speakout. Well, it's me, Mike
Rener. It is Jeff Kavanaugh backwith us today. Hello, it is

(02:00):
Julie Dobbs. Hi, and overat the helm it is Shoopy. So
there you have it. We hopeyou like it. We hope you like
what we do today. We're herenow, Yeah, we're here. What
else We're here and we made itanother day? Yep, yep, I

(02:21):
took a day yesterday because I didn'twant to talk about the Mavericks. So,
yeah, how d y'all do?Did y'all make fun of them a
little bit? Yeah? We did, but we also wondered just what the
hell happened here? I didn't trytheir hardest. That's my that's my thing
in sports. I have a baselinethat I just asked, did you try
your hardest? And they didn't,and so I didn't want to talk about

(02:43):
them. But I do think thattoday they'll try their hardest, and that'll
be way different. When they trytheir best, they might win. They
didn't try their best, which isa weird strategy in a playoff camp,
that's all. It is a weirdstrategy. Yeah, And I'm being the
naive sword that I am. Iwould like to think that that's not true.
I would like to think that everybodytries their best at all times.

(03:07):
But I realized the foolhardiness of thatand the fallacy of that. The Clippers
tried harder, Yes, and we'refar more successful and we're far better.
And I did not think we wouldsee a game where in this series where
we would say definitively that that wasthe case, but we did going to

(03:30):
beat the rest tonight though, Mike, did you know that? I'm hoping
so, Yep, I'm hoping so. My my vibe has been cooled a
lot in the last forty eight hours. Vibe. Yeah, those two.
Our playoff party hasn't gotten It's notoff to a good start at all.

(03:54):
Oh, can I can I timeout? Can I time out? Because
here's the thing I want to say, this is important. Okay, again,
my baseline very simple. MAVs didn'ttry their best. Stars. I
do think they tried their best.Yeah. I felt better about what they
did than about what the MAVs didby far, Like the Stars did stupid

(04:17):
stuff in the first sixty seconds andwe're losing. Yeah, but they fought
back and they thought they tied itup, and then that was taken away
from them. But they still fought, and they still fought, and they
still thought. The bad part abouthockey is all that matters is how many
times the stupid puck goes in thestupid net right out playing them and having
the puck in their zone and allthe things you don't get points for.

(04:38):
No. I think, over sixtyminutes, I felt like the hockey team
might have been better than their hockeyteam, but it doesn't matter because it's
how men times. The stupid buckgoes into stupid net. Yeah, it
seems like maybe we tried harder thanthem. We did try to manage to
still lose. Yeah, but theytried their best. I don't know,
man, I didn't see it thatway. You didn't think they tried hard?
Well, yeah, I thought theytried hard. But you know,

(05:00):
team did win the Stanley Cup lastyear, and I thought they I thought
the effort was there. I gotno quibble with that. But I walked
out of there wondering if maybe andother team's a little bit better than they
are, even though records don't showit, they might be. Apparently we
got cheated. They were sandbag inthe whole way, hiding some of their

(05:23):
players, saying they were injured.Yeah, they had really good playing an
eight seed, and yeah we havethe We're playing the defending champs and they're
in an eight seed. It's atough draw. It's a tough draw.
Yeah, yeah it is, butthe Stars can handle it. I hope
what if they both lose? Whatwould we do? Quit? Man,

(05:47):
I'll go home. That would bethat might be the biggest sports buzz kill
we have ever had in this town. I don't know that Dallas could recover
from that. I mean, youcan talk about Game six, you can
talk about about Cowboys playoff losses. You can talk about getting beat in the
Super Bowl. The Cowboys aren't tryingtheir best either. You can talk about

(06:11):
anything you want. But here aretwo teams in the playoffs, and we
all think they're better than the teamthat they have drawn in the first round.
I think the Stars might be better. I do think the Mavericks are
better than the Clip. The Starsmight be. The Stars made up a
stronger case for being better than Vegasthan the Mavericks have. I mean the

(06:36):
Stars were among the top yeah allseason once. Yeah. I mean that
they were one of the best teams, the probably the four best teams in
the league all season long. Yeah, and they still are. They're fine.
One goal game, Andrew Lennin atough one. One. I can't

(07:03):
skate, I can't ice skate.I could have saved one of the things
that was a goal last night.I would have saved the one that their
guy didn't. Was that our thirdone? Yeah, where we just kind
of like chucked it from just tossedit, and the guy just sticks his
glove out and squeezes nothing and itgoes right by. Yeah, it'd be
so hard to be a goaltender.Man, Like, you can't have one

(07:23):
brain fart, no, because afterthat I lose your focus for a second.
After that, if I'm on thestars, I don't care where I
am on the ice. I'm justflicking it at Ith Why not? I
think he's broken. Now he's alittle rattled. How did you miss that?
And then Jamie Ben, I reallylike goals where the goalie looks stupid.
That's what I like in sport, especially if it's the other team.

(07:45):
Jamie Ben's goal, he's just likeand then he just kind of lets it
slide between the dude's legs, doesn'tshoot it, doesn't fired at He's just
like, yeah you think of that. No, it's just slowly going between
your feet. Yeah, it's awesometrickery. Ob that what the hell?
I won't shoot it. I'll justlet it trickle there. I'll just stop
moving it and watch it go through. Oh. I love sports things that

(08:07):
make people look silly. And welost, but whatever, what are you
gonna do? Game? Two iscoming up. Do something about it then.
Yeah, nobody did anything stupid toget thrown out of the game or
anything. That was cool. It'sa good start. Yeah, that's a
nice change of pace from the waywe normally play them. I liked it.
Yeah. So you had a goodday cleansing your system. Yeah,

(08:30):
I had a great time. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, you were on
a cleanse, uh involuntary Yeah,I was on an involuntary cleanse. I
realized when I attempt to deep breakfastand it didn't want to stay. And
then throughout the day, all portalswere functional. All portals worked fine.

(08:52):
They were all we were firing onall cylinders, if you will. By
the end of the day. No, throughout the day they were working too
well. Everything. Oh it waslike, oh something, you come out
of here, it will Yeah. What about your ears? Those portals I
kind of jammed up. You don'tusually fire stuff out of your ears.

(09:13):
I don't think there's those really asexit portals I have. I bet if
you blow your nose hard enough andyou have a weird ear situation, I
bet you can if you might beable to fling something out of there,
then because it's all connected, Ibet if you had a real jammed up
nose and you tried to fire outa snot rocket, it might pop something
near. Yeah, I think itcould. I bet it's been done.

(09:37):
I think it might be on theinternet somewhere. I'm sure of it.
Yeah, you guys ever used theuh you guys? Ever used the ear
wax removal stuff that you drop intoyour ears? Have you ever done that?
The drops? It's so fun.It is so fun. You kind
of feel it like, yeah, like pop rocks almost. Yes, it's
so cool. It feels like it'sin your brain and you can feel things

(09:58):
breaking. And then if you go, if you're doing right, and you
you close off the sink and yourent out your ear and you could just
get a little chunk of moon rock. It flies out of your ear and
it's ear wax and a ball.I don't want to talk about this.
I've been working on it for aweek and I cannot get whatever's in here
out. I've been dep broxing. That's the name of the drops. I

(10:20):
need more because I feel like it'sright there and I'm so close, but
nothing comes out when I do theMaybe they need to start a shop where
people could drive in and get thatdone. Well, they do have that
your ear bro doctor, will theyhave through? Yeah? Those are fun
too. If you ever go toan ear nose and throat guy and they

(10:41):
use they have a vacuum that theygo in and she's like, and you
hear the part of your frames goesbadass? Don't you love his best array
of noises? I got a fewtoday. Mike's mind is fueled by Celsius

(11:24):
Essential Energy drinks. How are wegoing to pull back the curtain? Because
we were having this discussion in preshow, and we abruptly were advised by
you, yes, that this needsto be brought to the air, And
so we're going to bring it tothe air because I am presently doing something

(11:48):
that I really didn't think I wouldever do, and that I always actually
kind of feared because I'd heard toomuch stuff about guys who do this sort
of thing and people who had hadtoo many bad experiences, and I was

(12:09):
kind of thinking that, well, first of all, I don't think anything
like that's ever going to happen tome. And if it did, I
thought, well, okay, I'lljust write it out. I'm tougher than
they are. Ed No, notd I got blue shoe, I will
promo code freak. Yeah, youcan't ride that out. But not too

(12:37):
long ago, one morning I gotout of bed and I had what I
immediately recognized as a pinched nerve inmy neck. The reason I knew this
is because I had had them before, and they were quite annoying for a
couple of days, but eventually theyall worked themselves out. So I thought,

(12:58):
Okay, that's abound to happen.Now, Well, I waited a
week and another week and another weekand on and on, and it did
not work itself out, still pinched. So you start looking over your options,

(13:18):
and one option that rises to thetop very quickly is the Cairo.
Now I don't I've always feared theCairo because my parents took me to one
when I was a little kid forsomething or other because I thought I was
standing hunched over or something like thatand couldn't stand up straight. And I

(13:39):
hated the guy. I hated theguy. I hated the whole scene.
Why why did you hate him becausehe was a jerk. Oh, well,
you're just a little hunchback kid,you didn't know. Yeah, And
I had in the inter I've heardof people that had bad experiences with him,
you know. But they would goin there and get them to try

(14:01):
and do something to them, youknow, like nap their snack or something
like that, and all they didwas make stuff works. So somewhere along
the line, I just made mymind, I'm never going to a Cairo.
No that has changed. Well, yeah your nap snack, Yes,

(14:26):
you had to find somebody to Yeah, you needed to be snacking resnacking.
So I had my second visit todayand I got Yeah, and I got
another one on Friday. And thisis going pretty well because I'm I've felt

(14:48):
better since I've been going. Butshe does something called dry needly and I'm
not sure what that is, butit involves getting stuck with something sharp in
those areas, kind of like acupuncture. Yeah, yeah, it's not.

(15:09):
If they're not too distant, cousinof it, I'll bet you they're putting
trackers in you. Maybe they are. Each of those is a tracker.
Elon knows where you are now.Pretty soon you'll be able to use your
mouse with your eyes. Elon doesn'thave to worry of all the things he's
got to worry about. I amnot one. I don't know, but
I have you guys. Ever, nobody hears ever going to the Cairo.

(15:33):
I've been to Cairo a couple oftimes. I think one time was an
emergency because uh, I had afootball tournament and my lower back was hurting
and I didn't have time to justbe like, yeah, I'll just wait,
and so I tried the Cairo.Uh, And I'm like you,
I approached the Cairo with trepidation.Yeah. Now I have to be careful

(15:56):
with my Cairo opinions because I cannotclaim to have fully researched. But I
exist in the same world you have, where I know that it has given
me fairly quick relief from stuff onceor twice. But I've heard tail that
overall it's terrible for you. Andso I don't know what to do with

(16:17):
Cairo. And so I feel likeyou've done it right by avoiding Cairo until
you had a pinched snack. Yeah, and then you were like, well,
crap, I need saving, Ineed my snack nap. Yeah,
I think it's nap snack and thentheir nap just snacks right off. Yeah.
So you waited until you yeah, you wait, So you had a
problem and you're like, I guessnow, i'll goo. But yeah,

(16:40):
I don't know the science behind it, but I have had enough people that
are like, don't go there.Really it's so bad. Huh. It
does feel like they're gonna rip yourhead off when they do the turn thing.
Yeah, when they have it theone way and then they go the
other way. I didn't do thatuntil like the past couple of years.
So I made it, you know, thirty five years or whatever without somebody

(17:03):
ever napping my snack. Yeah, you had a good snack the whole way
or a good nap. Yeah. And when I did it, it was
like instant kind of like, oh, that feels good. But then beyond
that, like all the problems keptcoming right back, And so I don't
think that the risk for in mycase was really worth the reward. Yeah,

(17:26):
the risk being that all these peopleare saying, don't do it,
it's bad for you or whatever. But I have done the cupping thing.
Oh a good cupping. Yeah,I love a good cupping. Yeah,
yeah, what are you talking about? Somebody grabs my butt? Oh that's
not what I yeah, or ifI get to cut you enjoy that too,
yeah, sure, Yeah, itdoesn't like a good affectionate touch yeah,

(17:51):
good cupping, y'all never do it? What what are you going to
say something? You know? Haveyou ever been cupped? Yeah, because
I'm tall, so the women areshorter. So sometimes in an intimate hug,
a girl might do a little cupbecause I'm way up here. Guys

(18:11):
do that to girls during a hug. We do love the hug. Next
level, Yeah, girls do itto guys to don't cup during a hug.
If you're a girl, text inif you've cupped, I've had plenty
to it to be Send in atalk back about your favorite cupping. Well,

(18:33):
that's not what I was talking about. I was talking about like the
suction thing that the athletes do andstuff where it leaves the red circle marks
on your back shoulder. Whoa rightthen, yeah, all right, that
was a drop. It wasn't.But my one experience with the cupping was
really great. It was a littlebit like of an adventure because you I

(18:56):
went in for a massage and theywere like, well, we can do
the cupping this coupon because I usuallyhave a good coupon when I go for
you could do a cupping with thiscoupon. Yeah, Like this coupon actually
comes with a cupping. I waslike, well, one cup and two
honks, no honks, there wereno honks. Well I'm pretty satisfied.

(19:21):
Boy, this is going so far. Yeah, I think this is working
out so far, because after Iwent, it took a couple of days,
but I you know, felt better, okay, And now I think
I might be starting to come arounda little bit. We'll see after,
you know, after today's visit. But but it's kind of assuaged my fear

(19:48):
of the Cairo a little bit.Have you done the needling or are you
going no, it's happened. It'shappened twice, Okay, Well needling sessions.
What was that like? Well,I don't know. It's hard to
tell because like you're you got yourhead in one of those deals where it's
between two cushions and you're looking downand you can't see nothing. Yeah,
and it's probably better because I hateneedles anyway. But she's just back there,

(20:14):
you know, sticking one in andit stays in there for a while
and sticks another one in and onit goes, you know, around the
general area. We can just havea montage just from this segment what it

(20:41):
sounds like when it sounds like he'dbe an awful needler. Kelly from Allen
Love. When my husband cups andI cup his in a hug double cup,
yea fair enough, it must besomewhat similar in height. Yeah right,

(21:04):
my visual of cupping wrong. Ifeel like that would be hard to
cut each other. At the sametime, it's fair. It's a fair
point because somebody's gotta go over andsomebody's gotta go under. Yeah, maybe
he has really long arms, Likeit's easy cup for her because I'm assuming
she's shorter, so that's an easyaccess to a cup. And he may

(21:25):
just have abnormally long arms so youcan over the top cup get down there.
Yeah, like an orangutane. Well, I got another needling session coming
up Friday. But I think thishas helped. Okay, I mean,
I think I'm feeling better now thanI was before, and I think that
a lot of the pain was thatI was feeling is at least diminished,

(21:48):
if not disappeared altogether. But we'llsee what happens Friday when they do it
again. Are you getting hit withthe No, I'm not getting hit with
that, Okay, little you know, the slow pull one way and then
no, they whip you around theother way. No, they're not doing
that. See, that's what I'mafraid that. That's the one that scares
me. But it feels so goodwhen they do it. But I also

(22:11):
the one where they you know, you're laying down there, Yeah, and
they kind of get your head goingone way nice and easy and then yeah
that's it. That's it, andit's and then the other for it.
Yeah, and yeah, that's theone that I've done and it was like
it was okay, which is weirdbecause I've seen a lot of scare the
hell out of me. Yeah, that's where you're very close to having your
napsnick right off. I've seen moviesand they break the laws neck just like

(22:32):
that same move. Yeah, andhow do I how does the cairo know
to go eighty percent? I don'tknow, or or maybe they're just not
strong enough to kill what if they'vebeen working out? That would suck?
Yeah, and our nap would snick. Yeah, maybe you don't want a
cairo that works out. No,Well, I'll let you know. Okay,

(22:55):
fair enough, dude. We dohave a follow up on the double
cup. He is taller than me. I'm his pocket it wife fits in
his pocket. That's there, allright. Well, here we go,
cruising onward. We go to thesports desk, Jewels, What's what's over
there? What's what are you well? Jeff? Coming up next on the

(23:18):
Sports Desk. More on the DallasStars Game one lost to Las Vegas last
night, and also time to rerackfor the Mavericks
