(00:08):
We're thinking that we're going to visitwith the Higher Authority, Chuck Cooperstein here
in just a bit or else totalk about last night's Maverick's Clippers affair.
And if I know the Higher Authority, he will not let us down in
any way, shape, form,or fashion or else, because that's just

(00:31):
the way the boy rolls. Sostand by for that. We'll be getting
to him in just a bit.Mister Dallas is going to be coming up
here at four thirty five and atfive five it is gateway to the Rangers
with Emily Jones. She has aring. She does have a ring.

(00:51):
I saw it on the internet.I did too. That's a good looking
ring. It is a good lookingring. I take that to the pawn
shop and a heartbeat. I wouldnot You'd probably get more somewhere else.
Huh No, No, I wouldcling to that with every fiber of my
bee. Have you ever pawned anything? Uh? Yeah, I have.

(01:15):
You get good, good deals atthe Nutshot And I didn't get good deals
at the pawn shop. But Iwas kind of young back then, Yeah,
And I didn't really understood how itall worked. Yeah, And I
thought I was going to get morefor it than what I got. But
no, I did not get morefor it than what I thought. That's
why I've just started donating things.Once upon a time, I went to

(01:38):
Half Price Books with a big oldbox full of books, and you know,
you figured the average one probably costsI don't know, ten to fifteen
bucks, and there's probably fifty ofthem in there. You know there's a
big sale at half price books.Yeah, yeah, half price books for
everyone, that's right. Yeah,And uh so I walked in there with
I don't know, call it betweenfive hundred dollars one thousand dollars worth of

(02:00):
books in good shape too. JustI was done with them, you know,
on to the next person. Iwas like, I'd like to sell
these back to you guys, CKwill take them. We'll call you back
with your offer. They go throughthem all. I come back up there,
like what y'all got for that thousanddollars worth of books? And they're
like, we were thinking eight dollarshave in store? True? No,
come all right, sweet, I'llget half a book. Yeah, enjoy

(02:23):
my fifty. There's a clothing storethat's the same concept, Buffalo Exchange,
and I used to do the samething I'd bring like two bags of clothes
that I thought were still great, and I'd be like, all right,
here's a nine two hell yeah, get you some socks. Yeah, thanks,
go snag you a pair of woolsocks. Did they actually give you
money for it? Yeah? Theygave you nine dollars and forty two cents.

(02:46):
Yeah, it wasn't in store credit. They gave you real money.
Well, I mean you could useit for in store credit and it might
have been more like, you know, fifteen dollars in store credit or nine
dollars cash. What's your choice?Yeah, which one do you want?
Yeah? Like, wait, butyou're gonna sell each item in there for
fifteen dollars. It's like the thingsweren't super discounted. They were, they

(03:06):
were cheaper, but they were stillmaking money. That's why I want to
go buy those lockers. I wantto go buy the storage units, but
I feel like that's oversaturated. Likeyou probably don't get the deals, so
you have to open your own store. We just have to be a fake
Goodwill and just tell people bring mestuff and then we'll put it on Facebook,
marketplace, right and we kick ass. It'll be good. All right,

(03:28):
We're supposed to visit with the higherauthority here in just a bit,
but apparently that's being put off.In progress the moment. Yeah, it's
it's come on, it's progressing.Did you guys see Reggie Bush is getting
his Heisman trophy back. No,yeah, Reggie Bush is getting his Heisman
back. They announced his the formalreinstatement of the trophy to Reggie Bush because

(03:54):
of what they say is an enormouschange in the college football landscape. So
because players get paid now, thefact that you got paid then not a
big deal. Have your trophy back, which I think is the dumbest thing
in sports when they say we're gonnavacate this or we're gonna you no longer
got that. And I don't know, maybe it matters to Reggie Bush,

(04:16):
but I would just be like,it's cool, man, I lived it.
Yeah, and everybody saw what happened, right, USC fans saw it
happen. They had a great time. You're not taking the memory away.
You can say that we didn't wingames or whatever, but we we did,
and we're all there. It seemsweird to like retroactively go back on
the rule because it's changed now.Because at that point in time, he

(04:41):
was breaking the rules. That isinteresting, and I don't like. I
don't okay, point right, I'mpunishment and I don't care. So I
wish he always had his trophy. But yeah, if we were just gonna
follow logic here, I'd be like, wait, why'd you take it?
Well, he broke the rules andokay, and the rules of change do
they change back? Then? No? He still broke right, Okay?

(05:06):
Is that what Johnny Manziel was likecalling for? Johnny Manziel said he wouldn't
be at Heisman's stuff until Reggie gothis trophy. Do you think Johnny is
responsible for Reggie Bush getting his Heismanback? Maybe they want him involved in
Heisman stuff so bad they they gottahave Johnny. Guys, what are you
gonna do with that? Just goahead and give it to Reggie. Let

(05:27):
them all in. What the hellit does set up for? Do you
guys like the Heisman House commercials?Do you know the Heisman House commercials?
Yeah? Oh, they're so awesome. They've got to do one now right
now that Reggie's back. You wouldthink they have to do a Heisman House
commercial where they're all welcoming Reggie backlike he's been away or that or away,
they either welcome him back or theyfigure out who they got to kick

(05:48):
out so he can come in.Are they all in a house? Yeah?
Yeah, they pretend that all ofthe Heisman Trophy winners live in a
house together, right, And soit's like Tim Tebow's there, and Barry
Sanders is there, and I can'tremember all the people. The Baker's there.
Yeah, And so they're just alwaysdoing random crap in the Heisman House.

(06:08):
And now that Reggie's a part ofthe club again, if they don't
do a Heisman House commercial where ReggieBush shows up and they're just like where
you been, and he's like, stuff, I'm fine though, thanks for
having me it. The best partabout him getting his trophy back is just

(06:29):
that you get to see Reggie Bushhighlights all over my social media timelines again,
and you got to remember what itwas like in two thousand and four
and two thousand and five when ReggieBush was running around on a college football
field and it was insane. Hewas really good, it was insane.
He was really extraordinary. You knowwho? He wasn't better than Vince m

(06:53):
f and young. Why that wasan awesome National championhip. I fell asleep
during it, but I woke upin time for Vince to run and score
a touchdown to win the game.I was back in my big Longhorn fandom
days. I have a little phasethere just from being you know, raised
in Austin or whatever. So thatwas tea. Yeah, that was probably

(07:15):
a ton of fun for you.Yeah, yeah, it was. That's
long about the time I started buyingUSC left tackles and safeties. Oh yeah,
yeah, because you're yes, yougot Reggie Bush, you got his
heightsband taken away? Yeah, Idid. You funded mom's house or whatever
it was that he broke the ruleswith you did that? Well? Hey,

(07:40):
by the way, the best dayto have a little fun. Yeah,
by the way, the best damnsports segment periods. Brought to you
by friends at Buffalo Wild Wings. And we're going to be there tomorrow at
the newest location in grape Vine. We'll be there from two to six doing
our show, and then Kat andI are going to be out there and
we're going to do a draft broadcastbecause the NFL Draft is tomorrow as well.
Uh, And it'll be fun. We're going to kick ass and we're
going to take names and we willhave our next MAVs Clippers game. Tomorrow

(08:05):
is actually tomorrow's in nothing, right, Yeah, tomorrow is the draft.
Tomorrow's just the draft gets the stageall to itself. You think that's on
purpose from the other sports leagues wherethey're like, oh, let's dodge the
NFL thing, because even though it'snot a game, the NFL is such
a freaking juggernaut, that's what peopleare gonna watch. Yeah, at least

(08:26):
for the first night or whatever.Yeah, it makes sense. YEI doubt
Friday at home. Anybody going,I'm going. If somebody wants to help
me go, Yeah, somebody wantsto fund me, I will. Somebody
wants to take us all, youcould take the whole speakings. Yeah,
somebody wants to fun baby me.I will. Yeah, he's got a

(08:46):
sweet and I don't go to sweetsthat don't have food. We are the
home of the Mavericks. Oh yeah, we should be able to go to
the Mavericks suite at the Maverick game. We should, That's what we should
be able to do that fun.Yeah, But for a certain feti metaphysical
reasons, nobody could possibly comprehend itdoesn't work that way. I don't like
it. I don't like it either. It should work that way, but

(09:09):
it doesn't. What's your prediction onthe series now, Mike? And has
it changed after one game? Wereyou thinking uh? Oh? And after
two games you're thinking hey, Iwas thinking oh, but not enough of
enough oh to make me change myoriginal thought, which was that the Mavericks
are going to win this seven?Six? Uh? Do you fear game

(09:35):
seven? I fear the road gameseven. So if I think that my
team is the road team is goingto win, I just have to say
it's in six. I fear theroad game seven, So yeah, I'll
say six to I'm trying to figureout now. Keep in mind, though
I was the one that said thatI thought this series was going to be
pretty easy for him. Boy,we're probably wrong about that. Huh.

(09:56):
Yeah, I think I might have. I mean, but it's a four
ling shot thing a little bit. It's interesting because it is like it's a
four or five series. This iswhat it's supposed to look like. Yeah,
it is, but I think wealso And how could you not get
caught up in what the Mavericks lookedlike post trade deadline? And when they
got everybody going and when they goteverybody healthy, and that team, if

(10:18):
you had them all year, probablywould have been one of the top two
or three seeds, and so itkind of made sense that they might go
give the Clippers the business. ButVegas knew that it was damn near a
pickham and that this series is goingto be absolute war. And I love
it. I love it. Yeah, and I see that now too.
I got I'm just a little bittoo happy behind the Mavericks and the way

(10:43):
they played down the stretch of theof the second half. But I don't
know, I'm a little more groundedin reality now. And yes, it's
going to be a very difficult series. It's going to be a very difficult
win. The Clippers are going tobe a very tough out, but I
think the Mavericks will put them outand I think it'll be at least six.

(11:05):
It was exhausting. The style ofbasketball that they were playing last night
was exhausting. So it'll be interestingto see how they both play after that
game, especially Dallas. I wastired watching. Yeah, it's not a
game that's really big on flow,No, No, it was. It
was amazing seeing the level at whichLuca and Kyrie can play defense, and

(11:31):
you realize that wait a second, you know, uh huh, But you
know what, I get it overthe course of eighty two It's natural,
Like, I ain't doing that everynight. If I do, I will
die by the All Star break.I can't do this every night. And
their offensive skill set is something thatother players don't have. In theory,

(11:54):
the other players can play defense.Yeah, it doesn't have to be them
giving it one and ten percent ondefense every single night for your team to
have a chance, but we needthem on offense. So if you do
have to budget your energy, thenthat makes sense. It was wild.
It was just it was wild watchingwhat they can do because I'm like,
man, I didn't know Luca hadthat in him. I know he was

(12:16):
everywhere. Yes, yes, madLuca was absolutely getting after it. He
was playing with intensity that I don'tknow if we've ever seen that from him
before. I really don't. Well, here's as we discuss Coop, here's
this tweet from Coop. We'll seeif he ends up joining. But did
y'all see his tweet from last nightthat has gotten a whole lot of play,

(12:39):
Oh, a whole lot of comments. It's great, he said.
I know many of you have alreadymade up your mind about the Mavericks head
coach. All I will say ishe designed a defensive masterpiece in game two
and forty four years of MAVs basketball, I don't think there's ever been a
team that defended with the passion thisteam did tonight, and that includes the

(13:01):
eleven season. And that's always aweird thing with the coach, right,
Like, if he gets credit forthem playing really really hard on defense,
does that mean that we can blamehim every time that they weren't great on
defense, because then his ledger wouldhave a lot more blame than it would
credit. And I don't know,I don't know what to do with that,
because that was the dudes on thefloor busting their ass. Yeah,

(13:22):
And like I do agree with him, I've never seen a Mavericks team play
defense like that. That was thehighest energy effort performance defensively that I've ever
seen from a Mavericks team. Ihad the time of my life watching that
game. Yeah, And it wasn'teven good offense from either of them,
and it was still just so highlyentertaining because of how hard everybody was going.

(13:46):
Yeah, it was insane. Butthis referendum on the coach, I
think is going to be very interestingto see how I don't know. I
guess we're gonna have to get waittill you know the player off run is
over. However that winds up beforeanything's decided on him one way or the
other. But man, I'm kindof sensing a little bit of a shift

(14:11):
on things, a shift in hisfavor from what I've read, and and
just after the second game, yeah, yeah, yeah, but after that
game last night. Yeah, it'slike everybody's looking at and saying, oh
man, where's this come from? You know much hard? Yeah, yeah,

(14:33):
I believe, I understand it totally. Now we have to decide is
Jason Kidd the greatest because of whatthey did in game two? Or is
he the biggest dumbass ever because ofthe way they started Game one. I
don't know. I don't know.I don't know either. Here's what we
do with coaching and with a lotof other things. We see how the
season ends, and then we decidewhat they did. That's what we do.

(14:56):
Yeah, it's like my McCarthy forevergets to be a Super Bowl winning
quarterback because or head coach because theydid it. But every year that they
lose your stupid head. But ifyou win it, then we'll reverse engineer
it. And everyone on the ninetiesCowboys was the best leader ever. Yeah,

(15:16):
because that's how good they were. And if you're that good, you
get to determine how great your leadershipin coaching was. So yeah, if
the Mavericks win a championship, we'llgo that Jason Kidd, what a stud.
Yeah, and we'll have no ideaif we're right. Oh, we
won't. It's just sports. Yeah, that's all it is. It's just
sports. It's just the way itworks. Yeah. I don't care who

(15:37):
helps them get there. Yeah.I want my team, our team to
win a championship. And it's like, how nitpicky do you want to be?
Because I remember one moment of thegame last night where I should have
gotten this audio polled, because wehave the audio of the call with like
fifteen seconds left that was wild asson the inbound play. But there was
also a possession in the second halfout of a time out where fifteen seconds

(16:00):
or so of the shot clock ranoff with Maxi at the top of the
key looking for anyone to give theball to and that was out of a
timeout. Yeah, and they werelike even on the broadcast, Faul was
like, this isn't good, andI think it was hard, just like
this is out of a timeout. And then like I think he got it
to Kyrie and he made a goofyawesome shot and it was like, all

(16:22):
right, never mind, get workedout. The whole thing was just forgotten.
Yes, we assigned things based onthe result. That's when we decide
who done good and who done bad. One thing that I will be very
interested in as this series goes along, as you never know when a guy's
been off for a long time whatthat is going to look like. But
I checked the box score because Ifelt like the minutes that the Clippers had

(16:45):
Kawhi Leonard on the floor, theyweren't at their best, and they were
better when he wasn't. And it'strue he was the worst plus minus player
on their team. The Clippers lostby eight in the minutes that Kawhile played,
and I would imagine that's not gonnahold up. I don't think as
we go along that it's gonna belike, well, he's been out for

(17:07):
three weeks and so he's like disjointed. I'd imagine he'll find his flow and
he will be the best player onthat team before the series is over.
It stands to reason that he wouldfind his flow. But still that's you
know, kind of jarring to thinkof. I mean, I know he
was been injured and hadn't been playing, but still with Kawhi Leonard being the

(17:32):
worst player on the floor for theClippers, get your head around that.
Yeah, it's hard to do.Yeah, it was just weird. It
was very much I haven't been outhere because there was like offensive possessions where
he was kind of like, Idon't know, I'm not in a good
spot here, and the shot clockgets into weird spots and it was it
was weird watching Kawhi Leonard kind ofstruggle to be like uh oh. It

(17:52):
was almost like he was like oneof the Mavericks who hasn't played postseason basketball,
where it's like I don't know everythingit's happening so fast. And he
did have his moments like I thinkhe had four steals. He was definitely
still able to like anticipate when you'regonna do something dumb, like Derek Jones
Junior thinking you could just toss itto Luca across the floor and COWI was
like, thank you, but yeah, it's very interesting watching him have some

(18:17):
struggles. When when did we getword that he was playing, because I
thought the general thought was that hewas going to miss Game two as well.
Was it right at game time?I don't know. It seemed to
the odds seemed to fall in hisfavor as the day went on yesterday.
Yeah, yeah, I don't knowhow long before the game they announced the
starting lineup, but when it wasannounced the starting lineup, it was like,
oh, oh, there's guy,Yeah, and he's out there.

(18:41):
I'd seen something that made me thinkthat he would play. Yeah, So
I'm you know, I didn't knowfor sure, but I wasn't totally shocked
when when the lineup was announced andyes, there he is. And I
guess at this point, once hegets back in the lineup, he just
stays. I mean, I don'tknow, with inflammation from a surgery that's
like he just got after playing agame, they'll probably look at him,

(19:04):
you know. I'm sure they lookedat him after the game and talk to
him about how he felt and whathe thought he could do, and m
are you getting any worse. Doyou think you can think he'll be good
to go in the next game oryou know what the situation is. And
I'm sure they'll look at him today, and look at him tomorrow, and
look at him every day until thenext game and decide then, yeah,

(19:26):
sure he'll be out there and he'llbe a problem. Yes he will.
He will out there and he willbe an issue. That's what they'll decide
that he will be out there andhe will be a problem. I think
my takeaway after the first two gamesis like, crap, this is gonna
be hard. Like there were peoplethinking, including some of us, that
this was going to be for whateverreason, that the Mavericks were going to

(19:49):
fly through this series. Yeah,I thought, Clippers. I thought that
haus we've been playing so well.I haven't been watching the Clippers. I
don't know if y'all have very much, but I'm like, dang, it's
it's gonna take everything out of usto get through this first round of the
playoffs if we do. Yeah.I mean my reason for saying that was
I looked at them and saw thatthe main guys on their team are getting

(20:11):
a little bit older. Now.Yeah, the main guys on their team
have, at varying times in theirpast, seemed to be very me players,
and I don't like me players. But now once the series has started,
they seem to have tamped that downa little bit. They seem to

(20:32):
be playing at the very least allright as a team, and those guys
that I thought were a little bitolder aren't really looking at Harden's not.
Harden looks revitalized. Paul George wasgood last night. I do think that
maybe in the fourth quarter of thatgame, maybe being the old men did

(20:53):
take its toll a little bit, because at one point the Mavericks went on
like a fourteen to oh, fourteento one run. It was kind of
what put it could be. Andit was fueled by Luca, Kyrie and
PJ. Although Kyrie's not a springchicken, no, but he kind of
conserves his energy throughout the game. You can like he hangs out a little
bit. Yeah, but he Imean last night last night, he was

(21:15):
a psycho. Yeah. It wasso funny because at one point, I
don't know what the box score saidfor Kyrie, it was like he had
twelve points and like not a bunchof huge stats, but I was like,
but that dude's been everywhere. Twentytwo six rebounds, three assists,
three steals. Yeah, and sometimeI think it was like in the third
quarter whatever, you know, ifyou score basket, it'll flash up that

(21:37):
guy's numbers for the game, andI'm like, oh, the numbers aren't
screaming that he's like kicking all theass. No, he is. Well,
he is a low scoring game too, so yeah, not the most
impactful numbers that he's ever had.But boy, as is the case in
every game he plays, there's moreto it than numbers. All right,
Well, there goes your best damnsports segment period coming up next. I

(22:00):
saw him farting around out there.Get ready, because if you want to
stay up to date and keep itmoving, nobody better for that than mister
Dallas. Next,
