Speaker 1 (00:01):
Giving you all the warm fuzzies and whatnot. It's the
good good on the Spencer Grave Show. Kids should definitely
learn how to do a trade, especially somebody like welders.
A Mother's Day gift was stolen off the front porch
of Brandon Mahea's home, but he decided that he was
going to use one hundred dollars that he had from

(00:22):
his piggy bank to get some materials. He'd been taking
welding classes at his alternative school. They allow them to
learn a trade while they're in school. He built a
waterproof steel box that locks automatically when it's closed, and
it's protected over a dozen packages since he put it
in his mom's porch.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I love this, and I love that this is like
a kid, This is like you know what I'm going
to take you. I'm going to take this on myself
and figure out a solution, and he did.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
So listen, if you're in school right now and you're
thinking about what you're going to do after graduating from
high school, not everybody has to go to college. Some
people learn a trade and some people go to trade school,
and you can make a lot of money doing Daniel
Good Morning, how are you, bud?

Speaker 4 (01:02):
I'm good. Good. How you guys doing today? Thank you?

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Well, let me get right into it. Let me get
a little backstory about my son, Charlie, God bless him.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I love him well.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
He has gone on family vacations with his girlfriend's family,
like the past two summers. Had no problem with that,
and they've actually let my son stay over their house,
of course, with some boundaries when they're going to do
certain things and go to certain places. I had no
problems with that. But now my son is asking me

(01:32):
when his girlfriend can stay at my house, and I'm
kind of caught between his mom thinking it's okay. The
way that I was raised, how none of this happened
back in my day, And I just.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Don't know what to do.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
So you said, his mom, are you guys together or no?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
We are. We definitely are, but we don't agree on this.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
She's like, what's the problems that happened?

Speaker 6 (01:58):
When I was growing up?

Speaker 2 (01:59):
There was a couple of times where I had been
dating somebody for a very long period of time, they.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
Came on vacation with us. That kind of thing. The
ranatu from problem.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Don't go past that. What were the rules for you?

Speaker 6 (02:11):
Obviously we weren't in the same room.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Right, so he slept on the couch or I.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Believe there was a time that we had like an
extra room in the condo or something like.

Speaker 6 (02:21):
He was away and.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
We we had a little talk with Bobby D my dad,
and he made it very clear that he was to
never walk into the room I was sleeping.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
Period.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Charlie, here's the only question that I have based on
what you said earlier. Your son has gone on vacations
with his girlfriend and her family, and he's presumably stayed
over at her place, and you were fine with that.
Why is it different with her staying at your house?

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Because it was that same scenario. She just get out
for you.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
They were going on said vacation and it was easier
for him just to stay the night over there separate rooms,
they weren't together or anything like that. But now my
son's just randomly asking.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Well, hey, it's good for her. Why isn't it good
for us? Just let her stay over?

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Okay? Can I put a random fear in your head?
How do you know it's true that he wasn't staying
in the same room with them on.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Vacation because their parents had a long talk with me,
or I could say I had a.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Long talk with her parents and that's what happened, because.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
That's the thing you don't always know, you know, don't
And if he's comfortable enough to go to you, who,
I'm sure you've laid it out to him before, like, hey,
this isn't something that I'm cool with. I don't allow
this kind of thing. If he's comfortable bringing it up
makes me think like they may have broken the rules.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
I don't know that I believe that necessarily. I just
think these teenagers have gotten to a point where they
are ruthless and they will ask for.

Speaker 6 (03:44):
Any and everything. I mean, like it's true.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Gotten to a point, they got to a point where
nothing's out of bounce with them.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Yeah, they think the things that scare us is perfectly okay.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
I love my family and my wife telling me, Look,
this kind of thing happens all the time. Really, they
don't have to sleep in the same room. It's okay,
nothing's going to happen.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
But the old school in me is just I'm not
used to this kind of thing.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Got it, So I want to make sure I'm giving
it a fair shot, and I just want to get
some I want to hear different perspectives on whether or
not this is something that really does happen and should
I let.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
It go on.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Look at Daniel, he's trying to look at today's standards
whether or not he should be a bad parent. I
totally get it.

Speaker 6 (04:27):
Listen, I applaud you.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
I applaud you, but I'm telling you right now, Bobby
d my dad would be like, I don't care what
they're doing if.

Speaker 6 (04:35):
They jump off a bridge, are you gonna eat that toe?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
I hate to break it to you. You're also the
one that ran away to the beach to go get
Hannah tattoos without him knowing it. Anyway, A five Graves zero.
Let's get you guys on the phone. Maybe your kids
have come to you and said, hey, I want to
have a sleepover with the girl or the boy that
i'm dating. A five to five Graves zero. Thank you, Daniel,
appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Thank you. Guys.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Our good friend Daniel called us this morning A five
I have grave zero and he needed your opinions. His son,
teenage son wants a sleepover at his house with his girlfriend.
He's already been on multiple vacations with his girlfriend's family
and not with his parents. But what would you say
about your teenagers saying, Hey, I want my boyfriend or

(05:19):
girlfriend to stay the night. Eight five five grave zero,
Good morning, Felicia.

Speaker 7 (05:24):
Negative.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Why is that a negative? Because Daniel Daniel's wife seems
to kind of be cool with it as long as
there's boundaries.

Speaker 7 (05:33):
Definitely not. I feel like that opens a whole new door.
My seventeen year old has tried that with me one time,
and I very bluntly told him there is no female
allowed to stay in our home except for your sister.
Because I do. I feel like, as a parent, you
definitely open a door for other opportunities. And it may
not happen in your house, but you've allowed, You've allowed that,

(05:56):
You've allowed a girlfriend to come and stay the night.
And I'm definitely on that one.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Even when I was when I was thirty three years old, Blair,
I don't think I've even told you this story. I
was thirty three years old. I was a dating a
woman named Deanna, and we were going back to Virginia
to spend like fourth of July. And I'll never forget
I said to my dad, I go, hey, when I
bring Deanna, do you want me to stay on the
couch or can we stay in the same room, And

(06:25):
he was like, Spencer, you're thirty three, you're an adult.
You could do what you want. I had that feeling
because when I was in high school, there is no way,
there's no way I would have asked my parents to
allow a girl to stay at the house.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
There's just no need.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
No, definitely not. And I think it's you know, we
teach our children respect, and I think that that's a
respect thing too. You don't never you know, children should
never have the opposite spec staying with them, even as older,
you know. And I'm not knocking your dad for it,
but me being thirty seven, I still wouldn't call my

(07:00):
mom or my dad and they'll stay the night over
there and ask them, hey, is it okay if this
guy comes and stays with me? It's just a respect
thing really too.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Well, don't worry, Fleisha. I slept on the couch regardless,
mainly because the bed was a twin mebe in six'
five and her being five. Eleven it wasn't really going
to work out well at.

Speaker 7 (07:22):
A twin, bed, Right AND i do feel, like you
know the way that the world is, now you definitely
don't want to open those doors for your, children not
early at. AGE i mean they already see enough and
hear enough as it.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Is, felicia great, Points thank, you and thank you for
listening to the.

Speaker 7 (07:36):
Show thank, You.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Adrian what's going?

Speaker 8 (07:38):
On?

Speaker 9 (07:39):
Uh, WELL i just listened to the story about the
guy he was worried about his son's beIN in the.
Night first, thing how old are? They? Like my child
is twenty and if she her curfew is. Twelve if
she goes to, sleep she can stay the night over,
there as long as it's okay with.

Speaker 8 (07:54):
That.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Mom, okay wait a, minute your daughter's. Twenty uh huh
and she has a?

Speaker 9 (07:58):
Curfew, yes because she still lives under my.

Speaker 6 (08:01):
ROOF i get, IT i get.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
It but if she wants to stay at her boyfriend's,
house you're cool with.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
That i'm cool with.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
That but do they have to stay in separate? Rooms?

Speaker 9 (08:13):
Yes me and the mom knows that they do stay
in separate. Rooms and same way, here she'll stay in
the boy's room and the boy will take the.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Couch, yeah, right that's how it should.

Speaker 9 (08:22):
Work, yeah, yes.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Exactly and by the, Way, daniel he didn't tell us
the exact Age he did say that it was an
older teenager, though SO i would say sixteen seventeen eighteen from.

Speaker 9 (08:32):
There but as long as they're not sleeping in the same,
SPOT i, mean where were kids? Once, heck go down
the road to the, creek or you go to a hottie.

Safe if they were going to sneak and drink in
the yard or. Whatever my role, was gate was. Locked
you go to, me boys sleep in my, room girls
go in their. ROOM i slept in the living, room
WHICH i didn't, sleep BUT i felt safe for knowing

(09:22):
they were doing what they were going to do out
by themselves in my, yard SO i knew they wasn't
driving home.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Dangerously, yeah that's WHAT i tried to tell my dad to,
dad it's much, safer okay if me and my girlfriend
stay at the. House and my dad was, like that's
a lie and it ain't.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Happening my mom couldn't stand.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
It she THOUGHT i was raising my kids all. Right,
OH i had so many of. Them BUT i had
so many of my friends wreck come to get home
after partying and hanging. OUT i just knew if my
kids were, there they were sleeping in separate. ROOMS i
was guardening the living. Room at least everybody got home.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Safe but that situation is about people being, safe like
drinking and partying and all. That what about your son
or your daughter wanting their significant other to stay at the.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
House, WELL i let my daughter's boy friend come over
on the weekend when he was in. College but, he
LIKE i, said he slept on the couch AND i
am a very very light.

Speaker 4 (10:10):

Speaker 6 (10:11):

very known to all these children of, like, HEY i
am guarding the living. Room if you as much as
get up to go to the, BATHROOM i will hear
every single.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Sound oh they, knew and they were. Scared they knew
if you, dress it was. Over if you brought.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
My, trust it was.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Over but she ended up marrying. Him so.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
All your former coworkers that saw you On monday mornings,
Go now we know why she was so. Tired it
all makes.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Sense, WELL i was the cool, mom you, KNOW i
let them all hang out at the. House but other

Brief question for the. Men is it actually possible to
think about? Nothing and if, so what is? Nothing because
as a, WOMAN i don't really know what that.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Means first of, all it's. Beautiful thinking about nothing is
the greatest part of my. DAY i can do. IT
i can like slip right into. It it's so.

Speaker 6 (13:20):

Feels how come y'all can't turn your brains?

Speaker 6 (13:24):
Off that's a great.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
QUESTION i think it should be studied by scientists Because
i've had the same issue for. YEARS i finally recently
went to the doctor and was, Like, hey you're going
to have to help me Because i'm caught right.

Speaker 6 (13:35):
NOW i could name twenty five things off the top
of my head That i'm thinking.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Us?

Speaker 6 (14:10):
Well now this one is more like.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Recent i'm worried Because Father's day is coming up and
we're supposed to have like a pool, day water day
at the, house and and the weather's not looking great
and what if the babies are upset because they can't
get their slot inflatable?

Speaker 1 (14:22):

You want me to keep.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Going you want me to keep going BECAUSE i can
like continue this.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
List here's the thing about not thinking and being a.
Guy and when a woman asks us in our, life
like what are you thinking? About and we legitimately say,
Nothing it's almost like the sound of white noise is
what's going on in our, brain and it is. Beautiful
we have a lot of things that we have to think.
About how do we provide for our? Family how do
we show? Security like how do we do all these

(14:55):
things that guys inherently are supposed to, be but we
can turn our brains off like.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
That it's funny that this even got brought up because
by a friend of the, show Because steve AND i
have this conversation a, lot AND i look at him
And i'm, LIKE i would love to live in your,
brain and he was, like, Well i'm not swapping with,
you because, honestly As i'm sitting here and, now like
all the worries are coming, in Like i'm already worried

(15:20):
About christmas this coming, year because like are We Like
i've done a lot Of christmas, shopping But i'm not
WHERE i would normally be a byt this point in the.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Year i've already shared HOW i believe it feels to
think about nothing as a. GUY i think it might
help more women if other guys jump in and, share
just paint the effective picture of what it's like to
be a dude and literally think about, nothing have nothing
on your.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Mind and now my brain is really racy now because
what if the babies don't finish their their summer bucket?

Speaker 1 (15:50):
List oh my, god they Have god eight five Five

(16:19):
Triangle ella was doing a show over the weekend and
someone held up on their phone wink If riley is
a bad?

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Word, Okay, okay.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
She winked and it wasn't one of these, like oh
was that a?

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Wink Oh, No she made it a definite wink from
the stage after she, said.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
You ever exaggerated the wink like a big.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Thing it's, like you, know when a kid's trying to,
Wink very very. Similar, okay look over, here there's a
girl that went viral for making a Homemade Riley GREEN
t shirt and she woorked during. Cmafest she took a
picture From Riley's instagram where he was on a boat
aka who was shirtless holden.

Speaker 6 (17:01):

the possible relationship With riley And Meghan maroney as a.

Speaker 6 (17:24):
Think if someone is on my level of, PSYCHOTIC.
