Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lie Bean, Lie Bean, lie.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Be line be. I guess that means it's our turn
light the beam on another week of the Sports Cave
with Biggest Puma. This is the Monday Night edition. I
am your host, Sam Freeze, broadcasting live once again here
(00:27):
in parts unknown in the greater uh what do we
call this? North north side of San Antonio, northeast northeast
northeast side of San Antonio without giving too many details
away right near the beach where we find ourselves thirty
seven days away now from an extremely extremely consequential NBA draft.
(00:49):
For many different reasons, Volatile talked, very Volatile talked a
lot of NBA last week. We're gonna talk NBA Final
four tonight in the main segment because I've got after
after re listening to some of those episodes, those episodes
last week, I've got some thoughts as well. As of course,
we'll preview the conference finals. But as always in the
(01:12):
room with me tonight, sitting across from me as the
Cap himself, along with the great LG producer Extraordinary in
another room that hopefully is connected to us audio wise,
I got confirmation quickly every time LG like draws it
(01:32):
out and waits a couple of seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
I get so nervous sometimes you catch me off guard,
so I gotta like put my pants on.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Well, that's even better because it makes me feel It
makes me feel a little better to know that you're
not just doing a bit and with me because it does.
It does make my stomach drop a little bit every
time since I have you, uh oh, big time since
I since we have a good connection to the other
room LG, why don't you tell the good people how
(02:00):
they can follow us?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
You can follow us on twitch at sports cave Live.
You can follow us on YouTube a sports cave Live.
Those of you watching jump in the chat right now.
You can also leave a tip at buy me a
coffee dot com slash sports cave Live.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Love it, love it, love the coffees, and you boys
will be happy to know. I made at least one
new subscriber earlier this evening.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Oh man, nice.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
My little brother called me on his way home from
work and was he hadn't subscribed yet. I didn't even
know you had a little brother. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
I got my dad to describe. And that's all the
family members I.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Decided to Well, that's one more than I had until
earlier today, I got my little brother Roll Roll. Well
his name is Roll, his name is Richard, more like
more like the old Bob Will song roly Poly. Oh
(02:59):
my dad, really, daddy's a little fatty Bet not on
a can of biscuits. Bet you're gonna be a man someday.
No he uh, Okay, Now you wouldn't have guessed it,
because now he is straight, like CrossFit guy, super good shape.
He's he's like five to ten. Uh. So he didn't
get the height, but he got all of the actual.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
He's like one of those muscular vie inside of me,
like somewhere in this solid.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Corps, solid core strength that you wouldn't expect. No, he
got he got all the actual muscle definition, but just
didn't get the height. So yeah, he uh. He called
me earlier today and was asking, uh, how everything, how
the podcast was going, how everything was going, And then
he kind of said, so where can I watch? I
was like, wait, are you not subscribed already? We're over
(03:49):
a month in come on, but yeah, not only are
we over a month in now, but also over this.
So he's been listening to the audio okay, but hadn't
found the video, and I find that that's still somehow
the case. So if you are new to the program.
Here we go live on YouTube Twitch Monday and Wednesday
nights and then put the audio versions out, usually the
(04:12):
same night, sometimes the next morning.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
So I go straight gorilla market on the subscribing. I'll
take people's phones and be like, let me people, hope
your YouTube real quick and subscribe.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
I show it's working. I show it's working because I
like the old Johnny Cash song one piece of a time,
one part at a time, we'll put the whole car together.
We are, as LG said, please please please give us
a subscription if you have a YouTube account, even if
you don't want to watch on YouTube, it definitely helps
(04:43):
us out. So hop in there like my little brother did,
and give us a give us a subscription. Easier to
think that than say it, apparently, But as always on
Monday nights, we start with a little bit of a
weekend recap, and I feel the last couple of weeks
I have Oh I meant to say before we get
into that. The over this past weekend we crossed a
(05:06):
threshold in the audio streaming numbers. We're up to over
seven thousand streams in the audio.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Version, so nice.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Thank y'all very much, thank you, thank you, thank you
for the sport thumbs up, double thumbs up for that.
Who knows what you'll get once we get to ten
thousand downloads, but we'll leave that. We're less than less
than three thousand away from that, but we'll leave that
for another day when we get there. As always Mondays,
we start with a weekend recap. And I feel like
(05:34):
I saw a comment on one of the episodes last week,
too much hockey talk right at the top. So in
honor of the one guy that doesn't You're gonna get
hockey talk, trust me, but in honor of the one
guy that doesn't want it at the top, I figured
I would let you start us off cap tonight with
a little weekend recap.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
So the weekend recap, Man, we had the PGA Championship,
one of the four majors.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
It was Man.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
It started out with nobody that we knew on Thursday.
I was worried after Thursdyeah Thursday and oh Rory McRoy
the second favorite. He was, of course Scottie Scheffler, the greatest,
the number one in the world. He was the betting favorite,
but just edging this. Just right above him was Rory.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
And you know why Rory was because Rory holds the
course record at Quel Hollow. Yeah, not only the single
round but the cumulative four round record. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
It's one of the longest courses out there.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
It's perfect for him, or you would have thought.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
So here's the thing, here's the kicker. His driver did
not meet PGA standards, so he had to go up
with his backup driver.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah, I saw he wasn't it was him. I think
Bryson had it as well because the p I guess
the PGA standards are different.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Something in the middle, the length of anything like, I
don't know it. I try to read up on it
and I didn't really get the full story of.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
What was violated.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
But something was violated and it didn't really affect the
Bryson too much, but it affected Rory. I think on
his second day he was Scotty.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Scotty was using his backup driver as well. Scotty, Okay,
that's I didn't. I know.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Shoffley got this done once right before Major Xander Shoffley,
but it affected Rory. He one day went to hit
two faaraways out of fourteen, which is not good. Because
on Quill Hollow, if you go on the rough, you're
fighting it. And then, as my dad said, they overseated
the course because of that hurricane that came in, and
(07:43):
they knew they were gonna have a lot of water,
and they thought the overseeding was going to stop the mud,
but unfortunately it did the exact opposite, and there's muddy
balls everywhere on Thursday. And that effects if you know
golf physics and all the dimples in the ball, anything
that's on that ball with that kind of spin will
affect the trajectory where you don't know where it's going.
(08:06):
And that happened with Scotty on the first day where
all of a sudden he hit a good shot and
it pulled right into the water. So he could have
been he could have started out the tournament leading, but
it did not matter because he ended up running away
with it in John Ram, who was his only contender
(08:28):
towards the end on the last day, completely failed. He
bog bogie twice and double bogeat on the last three holes.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Just brutal to watch because I was I just wanted
to see someone press Scotty. It didn't feel like it
didn't feel like Rom was ever in a position where
he was real like it got close.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
And like around like whole twelve, like hole eleven and twelve,
you like he could have.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
He could have. And Scotty wasn't playing well on the
first nine, not like he closed Saturday, because when he
closed Saturday on the streak that he did, oh yeah,
it felt like it was a five stroke lead going
into it felt like it was over.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Three of the last four holes, and Rom wasn't really
with him. But Ron had a hot start and Scotty
didn't have a hot start. He was his partner, and
Rom was chalking up those birdies. But because he was
playing ahead of him, about two holes, he he dipped
and then Scotty put his foot on the gas and
(09:28):
started his iron. His iron game is second to none
right now. And he hit a five wood off the
tee where it was a driveable hole and put it
about two inches next to the hole. He's He's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Scotty is the closest thing to a video game avatar
player since Tiger. Yeah, Scotty is the closest thing. The
consistency of Scotty is what is most impressive to me.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
The iron play like and that's always key like he
he doesn't drive it the farthest, but he puts it
on the fairway. And his seven eight, even this five
iron and four iron are ridiculously accurate, which you know
when you go on a longer course like Bill Hollow,
or you're going up on a par five and you're
(10:13):
trying to put it on the green for eagle, that's crucial.
So yes, he ran away with it. He's one of
three players with fifteen wins before the age of twenty nine.
Would you like to guess the other two.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Oh three players with fifteen wins?
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Well, one of them Scotty.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Scotty I mean the natural tiger. Of course, of course,
I'm I jump to just say Jack, there it is, okay, Yeah,
I mean I that's a leak company, right, yeah, that's
a lead company then even you know, looking at the
list of guys that you know talking about Scotty's consistency,
(10:50):
not only the amount of wins. I saw this stat
in their first twenty two major starts of their Scotty
I think now is that was his twenty second major
played in. So far, no golfer has more top ten finishes.
He's so consistent, I think, since it's one of it's
(11:14):
since Tiger. Yeah. Actually, I don't even think Tiger has
as many overall top ten finishes as Scott. I'm gonna
have to I need to double check the status, no,
because it was, uh, it was something ridiculous that even
I like I read it.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
I pushed it all in on that one. I'm saying
Tiger's got it. He's got pretty much every record in
the book except for most.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Change, except for the most yeah, except for the most important.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
And my dad was talking about how his my grandfather
huge golf and was part of Arnie's army. You've heard
of that, Oh yeah, yeah, And he used to cuss
out Jack when he came on the scene because Arnie
was already on there for about four years before Jack
came on, and he hated Jack Nicholas, and I mean
(11:59):
hated him. And my dad kept telling me about how
he cuss him out every major, every chance, every time
Jack won.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
He was just this.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
MF for this, this MF for this, blah blah blah.
He doesn't deserve this.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
I mean he was.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
He was a true loyalist to Palmer, and I don't
think he's the only one back in the day, because
when we see those shots, like the closest thing we
saw was when Tiger won in two thousand and eighteen
or twenty nineteen Masters, when maybe eighteen Masters, right before
COVID or something like that, the one before COVID where
(12:37):
everybody's walking behind him on the fairway, that big mass
of twenty to thirty thousand people that used to be
Arnold Palmer. That was Arnie's army, and they used to
get roughing. Now they used to rough up people in
the crowd. They used to get mad if you sit
there and talk or do anything during Arnold Palmer's swing.
(12:57):
So that's this guy, Like that's history. I never knew
because I never watched it back then. I never got
into golf.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
That Okay, it's it's, it's it indeed is correct. Scotty
now has the most top ten finishes in the in
his first twenty two majors since Jack Jack finished top
ten and twenty of his first twenty two and Tiger
more than Tiger, more than Rory, more more than Kepka,
who somehow has Kepka.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
He went on that three years majors. Yeah, yeah, he
went on that three years streak exactly year.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Yeah, and that's that's where the it feels like golf
is very you know, for our generation. Obviously, for your
dad it's before you know, it's Arnold and Jack. For us,
it's Tiger and then everybody else, and the whole conversations
being well, who's going to come the closest to matching
(13:51):
or coming doing anywhere near what Tiger did? We've seen
It was supposed to be Rory and Rory's.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
He had before he won this last before you want
the Masters, it was like seven eight forever.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah, it was supposed to be potentially speak who showed
up out of nowhere instantly was winning. It was supposed
to be Kopka before he apparently lost the drive to
be good little bit. Yeah, taking that live golf money.
You know. Hell, even rom was, you know, number one
in the world before Scotty. Scotty now what one hundred
(14:24):
and forty one weeks I think I saw at world
number one. So I mean Scotty is the closest we've
seen to Tiger. Yeah, it just in terms of consistency,
like he still doesn't have his mine.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
He's going to be his Mickelson, who's going to be
Jack's Arnie.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
See, I just don't think we're I think it's right now.
It's you know, Scotty Vegas has his major career wins
total at nine. He's at three. Now he's got the
two Masters and and the PGA from this weekend.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
He's racked up a lot of like regular PGA wins
and stuff.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Yeah, he's got so he's won his last He won
the last tournament he played in before this one. So
he's on back to back tournament wins. Uh. The idea
that Scotty still has to win seven more majors to
beat the Vegas over under number. That tells you those
(15:22):
guys are usually not when they're wrong, they're not widely wrong.
They're not wrong by a wide margin. They're usually pretty
close to the number. Even if they you know, if
you if they're wrong, it's just a little bit wrong
or I mean, but like.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
With golf, it's like such a it's such a in
your head game. I mean, whenever you go on a drought,
it can last seven years. Like ry I mean, tire
guy hit in the face with an iron and he
went on a drought.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah, that was the beginning of the route A car wreck.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
His little road lizards and injuries and decided to do
a marine seal training and wreck his back.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
I'm like God whenever he was calling, when he was
calling Perkins waitresses and telling them, my wife has my phone,
I need you to change your voicemail. It's your voice
on your voicemail. Can you change it to it just
your number so she won't know? Like, thank you. I
need you to do this right now. This is Tiger.
Please believe.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
When I was working at Door to Bar, one of
our cocktail waitresses was one of those waitresses that had
to leave Vegas because of the paparazzi.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
That doesn't surprise me.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
She was one of Tiger's army.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
As you can say, yeah, well, his army was vast.
His army was basically the early Mongolia, with an army
of millions. Now, I think, out of all of the
golfers that we've seen be anointed as the next one,
Scotty fills the safest to say it will continue. Maybe
(16:57):
not at this level of consistent and see, but I
think it will have much more lasting power than anyone
we've seen before. And a couple First of all, if
Scotty growing up in Highland Park. Money was never an issue.
Money's he's never anytime you see interviews with him, he
seems like all he cares about is his faith, his family,
(17:19):
and golf. There's not a whole lot of in between
in any of those he turned down. It was upwards
of ten million dollars to join that PGL league, the
simulator golf league that Tiger and Rory put together. He
turned down that money because he didn't want to take
away time from his family or golf, his actual golf newborn.
(17:42):
I saw exactly. Yeah, after he won.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
After he won, those sometimes those announcers they still sharp stick.
I feel like they still sharpstick Tiger. One announcer said
after he made a glorious up and down for to
save par, and he like did a little fist pump
a little little He's like, now, that's that's something you
want to model your kids after. You know, that's that's
(18:07):
how you do it. He's a good role model.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
You know.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
It doesn't show too much emotion and all this stuff.
And I'm like, hmm, I wonder who they're talking about.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Well, let's be honest, the game.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
I wonder who they're talking about, the game of golf.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Is in a much better place because of Tiger.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Yeah, they're all making more money because of them.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
The majority of golf fans, probably sixty year older, would
still prefer a guy like Scotty be the face of golf.
I mean, it's just just it's unfortunately, I mean, of
all the.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Sportscas, like they're having too much fun out there. Yeah,
but our numbers are doing great.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
You know, look at their numbers. It is funny like
thinking about because I've talked about it before, like I have,
I've created a monster with the roommate where she legitimately
enjoys golf. We sat on the couch all day, said Saturday,
and watched the entire round and like she saw like
when Subu Kim hit the hole in one, like she
(19:07):
she jumped off the couch like she had excite, like
genuine excitement. And I just think back to you know,
for her, following the golfers on social media has made
them it's less stuffy. She actually sees their personality. She's
following them on social and I'm you know, obviously following
(19:32):
for the actual golf. But there's this weird you know,
even the PGL that I reference that that Golf League.
You know, it feels like I just want to play that,
you know, it looks so fun. Yeah, I'm it feels
like golf has finally found a comfort level with being
casual being and that in turn makes it way.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
More where it's like the Weekend Warriors who actually go
out there, like I mean, we're loud, we're playing music,
We're sitting there talking smack to each other left and right,
spliff on the seventh de Bons tampon the other person,
like you couldn't even get past the girls box.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Like Tiger did. I don't know, Yeah, I just it
feels like, for whatever reason, golf has got And I've
talked to Uncle Andy about this, you know, thinking about
like the waste management now the stadium hole, so what
is it sixteen where they have the part exactly. Yeah.
(20:31):
That is so for a non golf fan, that makes
golf cool. Oh yeah, And I understand it might piss
off a bunch of the old heads loyal there's like.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
One hundred thousand people around there now all of a sudden,
they just build a stadium higher and higher and higher,
and like it's full, it's completely.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
And there's a limit to you know, like it doesn't.
It can't be a frat party out.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
There, but finding that balance is can't be a frat
party every time, but having one tournament do that, that
is that's pretty fun.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
If you had to say, right now, do Scotty win
ten majors in his career? I mean that would put
him in some of the most elite company ever.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Man like his consistency. Like I say, he's twenty nine,
but I've seen it way too many times.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
With the still twenty eight for a few more weeks.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Yeah, we've seen it too many times with Roy Speith
rom Brooks, where it's like he's on the way and
then something derails him and he cannot get out of
that niche for six to seven years and he'll never
get back to that greatness. So do I think he
gets to ten? Everything points to yes, But over the
(21:43):
history it just doesn't happen.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Now, and so I'm gonna say no. The rare company
of course, Jack at eighteen, Tiger at fifteen, and then
Walter Hagen who played during the World Wars. Actually the
great expression just yeah, during the Great Depression and the
First World War. He's the only person over in double digits.
He's at eleven, So you're literally Vegas with this line
(22:08):
is telling you they think Scotty will end up being
the fourth most successful golfer of all time. I don't
think they're rarely wrong, but I don't think I take
that over.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
I mean, he wins tournaments if they're counting all tournaments,
if they're counting not just major major, major, I'm not
gonna buy it.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
I mean, he might get number, he might be fourth
with seven wins, but how many I think Mickelson's got
seven wins.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Michelson's at six another guy who shot out and then
has a couple. Yeah, Tiger kills a lot of those.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
He was the Patrick Ewing to Michael Jordan or something.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Like that, Reggie to Jordan, preventing them from being in
the finals every year. Yeah. I just when I saw
that Vegas number, I was I was really shocked Vegas
had it that high, because that is, again, you're.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
How long you gotta hold that ticket for.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Basically well, and we've only seen, you know, once golfers.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
Die a right before you actually get the cash.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
And that's what you know. Futures bets are always, uh
always a crap shoot for your own health. Being involved
while I was watching.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
While I was watching golf this weekend, I was also
watching the Subway series. Give me my minute, l let's
see the Subway series. Those damn Mets we had, we
won two out of three. Last game, Soto just got
booed out the stadium, the old Yankees cheer, and we
(23:35):
had another great performance from everybody rode on like it
was actually a pitching dominant series, which if you look
at if you look at the Yankees and the Mets,
you will they both not the Yankees so much, but
the Mets have a stellar pitching staff. And while everybody's
talking about the young man from Detroit, give me the name, Scooble, Scooble,
(24:00):
no one's talking about Freed, who is number one in
e r A, who's number one and wins tied, who
is throwing, who doesn't score more than two, doesn't get
two earned runs?
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Again, if it wasn't.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
For a error or wild pitch that should have been
caught by Wells, he would have had one.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Like this kid is.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
When we got him, we thought he was gonna be good,
but he is a CI quality good.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
It's been a hell of a pickups. What was up
with the I read Soto agreed to be miked up
for Sunday Night Baseball and then right before the game
told the ESPN he didn't want to do.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
It because they were so loud in the right field
it was gonna pick up a lot of chatter. And
they saw them talking. You're gonna hear a bunch of
those bleacher creatures just in there calling them all sorts
of fs.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
And do we have a as a Yankee fan? Are we?
Are we now a fish over? Because the way Sodo
was being talked about, it was as if like the
return of Sodo to the Bronx, as if he had
played there half a decade or something. It felt like
it was being gave.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
We were right there with the money, but we weren't
there with the years. We're not going to give him
fifteen years. Like what was it, who's the owner of
the freaking mets?
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Oh? Cohen? Cohen, Yes, Scott Cohen.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
I'd like, we're not gonna give him fifteen years. We're
not going to give him the Well, who's the guy
who's still.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
The Sander Bogarts deal? And San Diego is ridiculous. Some
of these numbers are crazy.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Yeah, so it's I'm happy for I'm happy for the
Yankees because it's usually a two game series. But I'm
glad we got the three games. So we got the
rubber match, and the Yankees absolutely blew them open. Pause
and sweet Cody Bellinger is coming into his own, coming
into his own with a grand a nice grandson. Oh man,
(25:56):
he kept walking, Judge getting that Yankees cheer. Oh man,
I don't, I don't think these I hate him himmen
in the third spot. They had him in third, in the.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Last Where would you prefer second? Second? Second?
Speaker 4 (26:08):
And you want him. You want the person with the
highest average the bat first to get on base so
they can't automatically walk in, and then you have the
chance for an RBI if you if you get a
double or if you get a home run, you get
an extra run. But with a third spot, third and
fourth used to be where your best players go. Yeah,
(26:29):
but analytics has torn that apart because you want more
bats well.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
And also analytics now are suggesting your potentially your second
best on base guy should bat ninth as a second
leadoff guy does set the plate because whoever you have
hitting one, if you're following the analytics, is your second
best overall hitter usually and then you got your guys before.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
Your best hitter gets on there. And thank god we
got Goldie from Saint Is because Pete Alonzo just and
that third that third game, man, he had two crucial,
crucial errors that broke it open for us.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Yeah, they did not have a good series. Speak uh,
you know we got a big series, tim shirt. Of course.
You know it's Rangers traveling to the Bronx three game
series starting tomorrow night. You pour suckers. Yeah, well, you know,
I would have felt a lot better about the series
if the Rangers hadn't blown the lead yesterday against the Astros.
(27:32):
I actually watched some baseball this weekend because the the
Texas Rangers. Yeah, Rangers Astros for the first time. And
I'm still in absolute playoff mode with with hockey and basketball,
but starting to at least, I mean starting to do
more than just check the box scores or watch the
like condensed game recap, actually watching You're watching an hour
(27:57):
or two of it, exactly. Yeah, starting starting to get back.
Although you know, like tonight, I walked into the house
here and LG had the Astros game on because it
was literally the only sports to watch basically unless you
want to. I saw Wimby's at the w NBA game
up in Dallas. Uh so you could watch Astros baseball
(28:19):
or WNBA tonight and we had Astros on Pick your
Poison for me.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
Even though I'm gonna watch whoever is playing against the Astros.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
They're playing in that rinky dink minor league ballpark with
the Rays that in Sacramento.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
The what's the timeline on that stadium? Are they just
gonna redo a whole stadium? Are they gonna sit there
and try to move them somewhere?
Speaker 2 (28:42):
The whole Tampa situation is that stadium football and also
now the city. So they had the plans to build
a new stadium, and I think now the city council
has gone back on it. Nobody goes the game that
as much as I don't, I don't want to see
that team leave Tampa. I'm ill a proponent for expansion
over relocation always just because I don't. Even even if
(29:06):
no one goes to the games, the six seven thousand
people that do are die hard. They're die hard, and
the Rays have had success. They've played in World Series,
played in a World Series in Ranger Stadium against the Dog.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
War success than they should have had, right they started
the They changed the rule because of the rays, because
they just used to throw out relievers and one inning,
two inning here, boom and go through ten pictures, eleven
pictures a game. Now each picture has to face three
batters if they get called into the innings.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
So not only that, you can say they instituted the
shift policy mainly because of the Rais and crazy Joe
Madden back back then. You got anything else from the weekend? Nah,
that's pretty much shit, man.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
And I had foo bar on the Sunday day game.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Oh yeah, we're gonna I mentioned it last week. There's
nothing worse than a day playoff game. And then add
the fact that it was a game seven. Yeah, ridiculous. LG.
You have anything for the weekend for I hop in
not much? That was? That was That was a pretty Uh,
(30:14):
it just worked. I worked all weekend.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Did you cry on your RPG anymore?
Speaker 3 (30:18):
No, I'm gonna I'm gonna start it over because I
forgot what happened. And it's one of those games where
you need to pay.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Oh so so you you cried and you forgot what happened.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Yeah, I only played the prologue and it's been about
three weeks.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
You just want a good cry.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
I think we need to get cap and ball and
we need to get to play along unless Less the
Dog dies. I'm not crying. What what? What games do
you play? Man? What games? Yeah? Man, war assassins?
Speaker 4 (30:45):
I get until these little kids all play the same
way because they were.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Shousted Gallaga there show.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
I'll bust out the twenty six hundred.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
I play little phone games. You know you're the mobile
games guy.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
I don't pay for that stuff.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
You played boot Jeweled all day. Actually, I can't say my.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Words where I'm just like, oh, it's the same pattern.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
My h the roommate with friends a devout Pokemon Go player,
So I can't it's still apparently it's still not just
going but going strong. There have been a couple of times,
and at first, okay, first time it happened, I thought
there was like an emergency or something. So I'm pull
(31:29):
over and what's what's going on? What's wrong? And it
was like, oh, something exotic just showed. I was like,
get the hell out, like, no, we're not We're not
doing this again. So then the second time that she said, uh, oh,
pull over. I think I'm going to be sick, and
I pulled over and then I see her on the phone.
I'm like, she played me. She knows. Yeah, she's She's
(31:54):
nothing short of Wiley. Uh. Well, let's jump into my weekend, Rica.
My weekend is going to be a lot of sports talk,
because this weekend was. It was fully focused on sports.
Obviously with Rangers Astros. Uh, you know, they split that
four game series two to Jack Lyder almost through, well
(32:14):
not almost. He went six no hit innings. It was
good to see progress from him because he's I mean,
he's got great stuff. He's got the pedigree, you know,
son of a Hall of Earth curve, his fastball. Actually,
you weren't able to really get to see what wasn't
working for him because the Astros were hitting so many
(32:36):
early pitches in the count.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
Oh, they were just jumping on them early.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
They were jumping on and he was getting soft contact
and a lot of that's.
Speaker 4 (32:43):
How you get those ace the ace pitchers. Man, you
don't let him get in a rhythm because soon as
they get in a rhythm, it's seven to eight strikeouts
later and they're pitching see.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
And I think he only had three strikeouts on through
the six innings, so he was just getting a bunch
of which is good. We talked, usually a fly ball
guy usually, but again Astros Rangers bullpen ends up blowing that.
Astros come back and win uh three one yesterday. But
(33:13):
of course the biggest sports event of the weekend, I
get ready, here comes the hockey Talk. Stars avoided a
game seven back in Winnipeg, win game six and overtime
Saturday night, beat the Jets to one. There were so
many storylines going into this game because if you all,
(33:36):
if you hadn't, if you haven't been following the Stars,
haven't followed our advice to jump on the bandwagon. The
one of the Jets leading players in an assistant captain,
uh Mark Schiffley. He lost his father early Saturday morning.
It happened overnight, unexpectedly passed. You know, wasn't didn't wasn't
(34:00):
like he was like on the verge of like they
didn't you know, didn't know what was coming kind of deal. Yeah,
and he went he went full Brett favre uh and
played in the game Saturday night, actually scored the only
Jets goal. And I thought, I told Steph deep in
my heart I hope he scores seven goals and sets
(34:21):
a playoff goes crazy, but the Stars win nine to seven.
Like I still want, you know, but I want at
least like I just can't imagine losing your pops and
then going out and playing in an elimination playoff game
and any sports you know, like of course the you
know the legend of Brett Favre doing it on Monday night.
You know, that's Monday night football. This was a playoffs.
(34:44):
He forgot that game. I think he forgot most things,
including including welfare restrictions in the state of Mississippi.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
But I and and pictures can be saved.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
That's right, that's right. Ask any New York female sports
report the you know, the story, the narrative of Shifley
scoring that first goal. My first thought was, all right,
you know this is this is this is their game,
this is their moment. He's going to play for his dad.
(35:16):
He scores the first goal. It kind of just felt
like the tea leaves were reading there was gonna be
a game seven. No, it was in Dallas. This one
so funny enough. Now that the Stars beat Winnipeg, they'll
have home ice advantage the rest of the playoffs, so right,
(35:37):
so if they make the Stanley Cup final, they and
it's very important because the Stars are six and one
at home so far these playoffs.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
So the man massive, like they get rowdy out there, man,
this soccer environment.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
So I got more on that because we're gonna specifically
after the game. There was a very nice touch from
this from the Stars DJ in the arena to feed
to turn that crowd even more ravenous. But uh, you know,
Shiffley gets the first goal, Stars end up tying it up.
(36:12):
It's one one. There's about a minute and a half
left to play in the third period. And I want
to get y'all's opinion on this because this is something
that personally drives me insane. There was Sam Steele for
the Stars skating, Uh, gets a loose puck, starts to
(36:32):
have a breakaway going heading. There's nothing between him and
the Jets goalie. So Shifly, in a you know, desperation,
takes Sam Steel down from behind.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
This is a hook, right, So that's okay, that's I
saw that play. I saw that play. I thought that
would have been a PK like a PK shot. So
if you ask me, is as a breakaway.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
And it's not just me, I mean a lot most
I think most hockey analysts that are paid money to
tell you their opinion, I think they would say if
that was a regular season game, that's a penalty shot
every single time. So every single time.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
So that is so that is a thing. That's why
I didn't know. I'm like, maybe they don't do breakaway
so it's penalty shots.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Or something like that.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
That's the referees discretion, not even a review.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
No, so the referees decide was it a clear breakaway.
If it was, then that's a penalty shot.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
He had like he had too like a link and
a half at like a person and a half on him,
and I had to reach to hook his skate.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
And he's skating, not at full speed yet but already
skating faster than either of the two guys.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
He's passed that he's about he's about to he's about
to burn them.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
So this is where it drives me crazy, because if
it's a penalty shot in any regular season game, I
understand the idea of not wanting to end a playoff
series on a penalty shot, but also if the rule
is the rule, yeah, why are we choosing not to
(38:07):
follow it now because it wouldn't make us feel good
about how the game is.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
I get not I get that frame of mind. But
if that's at the end of the game, I'm talking like,
you know, a minute left in the third.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Quarter that was the case? Was it the game? Also?
So here's what I thought that was in the second No,
that was the third and there was less than a minute.
There was like thirty seconds left when it happened, like
thirty six seconds or something. So because they don't call
the penalty shot.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
Because Basketball had that with the New York and Detroit game, right,
you know, obvious.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
Foul, clearly a foul. And that's that's the comparison in
my head where I hate hearing an NBA fan say
I'm glad they swallowed the whistle at the end and
let them play, because if a foul is a foul,
that's biased. Why using what times to call it or not,
(39:03):
because it just it feels like you're ptgregious.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
If it's an egregious foul, you call it.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
You have to.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
You've got to like And when he's breaking away, that's
the game because he's getting an open shot. He's out
there skating full speed and he's going to put his
best move on him. He gets a free shot.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
See and add the context of like if I was
a Winnipeg Jet fan watching that game, So there's thirty
seconds left in the period, they're going on a power play,
and now if Dallas doesn't score before the end of
the period, that power play is extended into overtime. So
now you know you're starting overtime where you're gonna have
(39:45):
to kill ninety seconds of a penalty. The guy that
had the breakaway that you fouled was a Star's fourth
line player, so their lowest line of offensive players. There's
an argument to be made if you're a Jets fan,
you would have preferred them called the penalty shot because
(40:06):
you've got the best goalie.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
In the world.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
It's a fourth line player. It's not like it's ranting
In or Rope or Robo or any of the big
names for the Stars. There's an argument where if you're
a Jets fan, I'd take that shot. Let's take the
penalty shot, and we trust the guy that's gonna win
League MVP, the best goalie in the world. All he
has to do is stop a one penalty shot from
a fourth line forward and then we're back to even
(40:30):
strength because there would be no penalty at that point.
So as we were watching it Saturday night, I bet
that's a conversation up in Winnipeg radio. Yeah, Manitoba is
probably on fire today, not as not as on fire
as Toronto. As Toronto, oh my god, we'll talk about
them in a second. The I think there is a
legitimate better outcome if you're a Jets fan, to just
(40:53):
take the penalty shot, hope you block it, and then
your even strength going into overtime, because of course Star
score in overtime with Shifley in the box, the play
the guy who had just lost his father that morning.
He's the one that commits the penalty. He's the one
that gets sent to the box.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
And then a minute he was the guy. And a
minute into overtime, LG, you got this. A minute into overtime, Uh,
the Stars end up scoring the game winning goal from
Thomas Harley, and it sounded like this, Oh all.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
Right, it's a little low hold.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
On there, probably because I've been that audio I sent
you last week was hot. So the need to do some, uh,
need to do some to the corner.
Speaker 5 (41:47):
Hella Bucks sent it there behind the net. Sagan Harley shut.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
His Stars, he does it. Thomas Harley a power play goal.
The Stars are going back to the Western Conference Final
for the third straight year.
Speaker 4 (42:08):
For years, how many times they make the championship up.
Speaker 5 (42:14):
Those look at his place?
Speaker 4 (42:15):
No faith gone.
Speaker 5 (42:21):
American Airlines Center is flobbing right now with Thomas Harley
and all of his heroics in three on three overtime
in regular season play, Why wouldn't you pick him?
Speaker 4 (42:40):
Scurry to their shot.
Speaker 5 (42:49):
With the Dallas Stars eliminated the President's Trophy winning.
Speaker 4 (42:56):
Winnipeg shot, I feel like you can give your best
stuff because you're not going full speed. You have if
you're going full speed breakaway, you have a chance for
the puck to skip, to hit something to knock off balance,
or some something to happen where you don't get there.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Yeah, you don't.
Speaker 4 (43:16):
You just don't get your best shot whenever you sit
there and you know, you skate around the puck three
times and you get the get going, you know, about
fifty percent speed and then you get to put on
your best move, you know.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
So yeah, for sure I.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
Would take the power play over that PK shot.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
I see, I would I would still. I would I
would take the I would just let him have the
penalty shot and pray for the best, because yeah, it
was a rough It was a rough scene. I mean
obviously in the exhilaration of the Stars winning. Uh you know,
Shaffley in the penalty box. It didn't even he didn't
want to leave. I mean he's just sitting in there
with his head down and you're just imagine, yeah, exactly exactly.
(43:58):
And it was to the point where where you know,
they do the the handshakes after a series ends and hockey,
and it's one of it's one of the best traditions
and in sports we have here of and especially now
that most of you know, someone in that line is
miked up so you can actually hear some of the
In fact, the Winnipeg coach told the Stars coach, now
(44:21):
you know, they're like, you know, good series, you all
played great, congratulations, now go win that f and Cup.
So like they're you know, the family is still and
Shify the the Jet player who lost his father. There
was a great moment if you remember Game five was
when Jamie Benn punched Shifly and knocked his ass down
(44:44):
and ended up getting the five thousand dollars. Fine, but
you know, Jamie, as the captain of the Stars, is
the first one in the line, so he's the first
one talking to Shiffley and they had a moment. And
then later down the line a Stars player Mason Marchmont,
whose dad was a legendary hockey hockey player. Uh, he
lost his father unexpectedly. And I read an article today
(45:05):
in The Athletic where Marchmont was talking about, you know,
as soon as we scored that goal, the first thing
I was thinking about is what I'm gonna tell Schiefe. Uh.
You know, because I, like so many people were there
for me when I lost my dad the way I did. Uh,
And I want to at least at minimum, you know,
pass some of the advice I got then off to him,
(45:29):
you know in that handshake line. So yay boo, I mean, yay,
the Stars advanced, but at the expense there job, Yeah,
exactly exactly. Uh, and then mentioning real quick the game
seven in the NHL, the Panthers absolutely spanked the Leafs.
And you know Toronto, for those that don't know, Toronto
(45:53):
is like the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL. They are
the team that has you know, hasn't won a Cup
since like seventy something, seventy three, I think, but always
have the expectations of being a contender, of being a
Cup team. They are, you know, the NHL League office
is in Toronto. It's hockey mecca. It is, uh, you know,
(46:17):
the center Central Hub exactly exactly. And they are you
know obviously as you know, don't have as many wins
as like the Canadians or other you know, you know,
they're not the winningest Canadian team, but they're the one
that is kind of the most recognized, yeah, exactly, and
(46:38):
they're the barometer of hockey in Canada. So uh. And
in the same way, they're similar to the Dallas Cowboys
because they get the media pressure of like Toronto hockey
is the equivalent of Dallas media.
Speaker 4 (46:56):
With the Cowboys, it is media exactly, very much riders
than anybody.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Exactly, and they are they're about to end up blowing
up their their team now after they've got to make changes.
They've they've had the same core four for the last
five four or five years and haven't been able to
break through, so they're they will be making massive changes.
But the Panthers who won the Stanley Cup last year.
(47:23):
They advanced to play Carolina in the Eastern Conference Finals,
which you'll remember, Carolina is the team technically that the
Stars got Ranton in from, so we could have a
ranting in versus stankovin the guy that the big prospect
the Stars gave up who's doing well in Carolina. Still
(47:43):
think Florida wins that though, and Florida just keeps winning,
like I just sty're good. Yeah, they've been, and they've
gotten better. They got Brad marsha and from the Bruins
at the trade deadline, a huge deal, huge addition. So
looking at the teams that are left, Florida won it
last year and got better. Dallas lost to Edmonton, who
(48:05):
they'll meet again now in the Conference finals. Dallas got better.
Edmonton still has the best player on the world in
the world Connor McDavid Connor mcjesus. And Carolina plays what
some might call boring hockey, but it's solid, just no real,
(48:27):
yeah exactly, like very structured, very solid, potentially boring, but
are tough to beat. And you know, Florida Florida. I
think the series that obviously I'm biased as a Stars fan,
but I think the Stars Eilers matchup is a better
matchup for the casual hockey fan than Florida Carolina. But
(48:48):
we'll see the other game seven on Sunday. You mentioned
it a game seven at two thirty in the afternoon.
I we did brunch Sunday morning. My buddy at Charity
Bar had had a special uh Sunday brunch with several
local chefs. It was a great event, and I'm the
(49:10):
whole time, I'm thinking, oh, I'm gonna We're gonna get
a little tipsy at brunch. I'm gonna go home watch
the game seven. Dude. We got home right at tip off.
I was asleep by the second quarter. I just I
why was that?
Speaker 4 (49:26):
In the afternoon, I went out like I like, I
got ready and went out like got like, I'm like, man,
who's gonna go out with like calling my friends? I'm
like young on out Saturday, I mean, like, yo, we
got game seven, and like I couldn't get a hold
of anybody. And then I go out and I'm like
so what, I was like, are we on ESPN?
Speaker 2 (49:43):
We on TNT?
Speaker 4 (49:45):
And I didn't know it was a day game the
next day until Sunday night, when it wasn't on. Oh No,
I was hyped for that game, and then I'm sitting
there watching some baseball, not even my Yankees, because there
was a day game.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
Well, if it makes you feel any better, uh, there
wasn't a whole lot to watch. I mean I woke
up and caught back up to where I was. Thunder
went down early. Yeah, but they, I mean they climbed
back and absolutely handled Denver.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
Which the one thing that I saw as I was,
I like to say I pounded on last episode. Seemed
like the youth rose to the top. Yeah, the younger,
faster breakaway team just sat there, threw everything at Joker
and just ran them off the court, even though they
(50:38):
got down by twenty real quick.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
Well and even you know it was it was Oklahoma
City's youth, but it was the one veteran who has
a championship if you count the bubble. It was Caruso's
defense on Jokic that completely changed that series. And that
is you know, you look at and we're gonna talk
NBA in the main segment here in a minute, but
you talk about the that that Oklahoma City team has
(51:02):
gone to have that young nucleus, young core together to grow,
and now they've added a couple veteran pieces like Caruso Hartenstein,
and it appears at least it's not just me saying it.
Vegas says it too. They're the favorites for the for
the NBA.
Speaker 4 (51:20):
Finals now, hands down, hands down. See and it's still
hardened signs a veteran. Yeah, because I was about to,
like I wanted to, I want to play.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
He's like to twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
Twenty nine, Okay, so he's not I mean, yeah, veterans
to that standard. I was if that was the main thing.
If we can get a hardened Stein, it's twenty seven. Yeah,
if we can get a hardened Stein in the draft
or in during free agency. You know, you got Porter
over there in Memphis. Get someone like that to play
(51:53):
our five, to sit there and just be a beast,
download to catch the lobs, to sit there and and
just hang out underneath the basket, do all that kind
of good stuff that would complete that five. That was
the starting five for me. You know, if we go
with Dylan Harper, of course, yeah, it's it's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
I mean, if all the tea leaves are suggesting there's
no one else even being considered I that Oklahoma City
team waited extremely patiently when they could have made big
moves the last couple of years, and they have let
that core grow together, which I think is the key. Now,
(52:35):
you know, we'll see, of course, we'll see how they
do in the conference finals against Minnesota, and Minnesota team
who has been there before. You know, this is Oklahoma
City's first trip to the conference finals with this core group,
so we'll see, we'll see how that plays out. But
I'm with you, man, the if you're gonna if you're
(52:56):
going to be blessed by the sports gods with a
game seven, it shouldn't tip off before six pm.
Speaker 4 (53:03):
Yeah, don't put it in the afternoon, especially when you
got a golf major going on.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
Like, oh, yeah, that's true. Yeah, it's set up against
Scotty going.
Speaker 4 (53:12):
Yeah, sitting there watching that was actually the best time
to watch it before Scott for Rom, completely imploded and
then Scotty just took over. Because once he took over,
the game was over with OKAC. And then that was
the time where you're like, okay, he's just running away
with it now.
Speaker 2 (53:28):
Yeah, they both became blowout.
Speaker 4 (53:30):
Yeah, the seven stroke lead by the time okay see
and Denvers like, oh man.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
That just that, just m I'll tell you what. We'll we'll, we'll,
we'll spin into the make because I appreciate that. I
also appreciate the the lack of live plugs tonight. It's cooler.
It's cooler in here. LG. LJ said he got taken
care of. So yeah, now we'll just go ahead and
(53:58):
spin into some NBA talk. We'll save the US for
the lightning round at the end. The NBA Final Four
is set nixt V Pacers in the East, thunder VT
Wolves in the West. And I guess let me start
the question as the casual fan, obviously, with these four
teams being the four left, who are we rooting for
(54:21):
as a crew here? Oh? You know me.
Speaker 4 (54:25):
I love me some Brunson. I love me some Bruns.
Harry Halliburn is that dog. And they seem like they
got the more, you know, because they added Cat to
New York. So that's his first year.
Speaker 2 (54:43):
Yeah, ye, yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:44):
So you got Indiana, who's jailed, who's been together a
little bit longer, but you got Brunson's heart. You got Kat,
who's the veteran that's still he's turning back the clock
right now. They're really like the revamping the old rivalry,
the old Reggie Miller, Spike Lee, Patrick Ewing days.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
That's always good.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
That's great for the league. Yeah, that's great for the league.
You know, Midwest versus East Coast, you know East Coast
elite of course, you know. And I still gotta go
with the Knicks.
Speaker 2 (55:18):
I want the Knicks over either Oklahoma City or Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (55:24):
Uh, as an underdog story, it would be pretty cool.
It would be pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Well, who's the underdog?
Speaker 4 (55:33):
But like the Knicks if they if they got to
go against OKC or Minnesota, the Knicks are the underdogs only.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
To Oklahoma City. They're the second betting favorites.
Speaker 4 (55:41):
They're the second betting favorite.
Speaker 2 (55:42):
Yeah, it goes over, It goes over. There's Oklahoma City,
then New York, then Minnesota, and there's a big gap
between New York and Minnesota. Really, yes, I can look
it up off the top. I was looking. I might
have been looking at it earlier for some potential investment opportunity.
At least you're not betting on politics. H No, I've
(56:05):
avoided Pauli market this week. I've lost lost way too
much money on mid term elections or special elections. Lately,
it turned me betting on mid term elections. You got
a problem the odds. You got to get in early
to get good odds. So Thunder are minus one eighty,
Knicks are plus four eighty five, t Wolves plus six hundred,
(56:29):
and then Pacers plus seven fifty.
Speaker 4 (56:33):
So the Knicks are not even the underdog against the Pacers.
Se I would put the Knicks underdog against the Pacers.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
Oh god, no, really, Now, the Knicks were a three
seed for a reason.
Speaker 4 (56:47):
I mean, and what were the Knicks for three seed?
Speaker 2 (56:50):
Indiana? What was there?
Speaker 4 (56:51):
They were a four seed?
Speaker 2 (56:52):
Uh? Indiana the five? Right? Are they four or five?
Let's see, let's the uh. I always get confused now
with the playing tournament because yeah, Pacers were four seed
or next three seeds? Not that much different. Yeah, I
was thinking the Bucks were the four and the Pacers
(57:13):
were the five. It was the other way around.
Speaker 4 (57:15):
So the Knicks had to beat like I just thought,
the Indiana has just had such a like easier time
to win, which is crazy because they looked more solid
than the Knicks, where the Knicks had to send huon
scrape to like, you know, get to where they are
right now.
Speaker 2 (57:31):
Yeah, the Pacers destroying the one the one seed Calves
in five games was pretty eye opening. I mean that
made and especially the clutch, the clutch factor of Halliburton
in these playoffs so far.
Speaker 4 (57:45):
The Caves remind me of when the Sacramento Kings were
the number one in the West. Yeah, and they like
came out of nowhere when you know Dearon Fox was
mister clutch.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
Yeah. I think I said last week. They remind me
a lot of that old Atlanta team with Al Horford
when they were great in the regular season but just
weren't built for the play I mean the the Cavs
didn't have the best player in that series. I mean Halliburton.
Not that he's the best player all year between those
two teams, but in those five games, Halliburton was the
(58:15):
best player on the court and in the playoffs, like
right with the Knicks with Brunson, I mean, when you've
got a guy that can go in and single handedly
take over a game, or when when the team's not
playing well and a guy can put him on his shoulders.
I mean, hell, Jokic did it to even get that
series to seven against the Thunder. So I as far as, LG.
(58:37):
Do you have any any rooting interest whatsoever or preference
among the last four? Uh?
Speaker 3 (58:43):
Not really, I would. I don't want the Thunder to win.
And yeah, yeah, that's about it. See, that's that's all
I got. I don't want the Thunder to win. Anyone
else's still pissed about the Seattle.
Speaker 2 (58:55):
There's the zombie Sonics.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
They need to Seattle need a team.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
Not Oklahoma. Oklahoma City does not need a team, and
they don't just they don't need anything. It's Oklahoma City
you need, you need minor league baseball, you.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Don't need anything.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
Yes, I've got college football, Yeah you've got so.
Speaker 4 (59:17):
Man, come on, man, I uh, I'm with you, l G.
Speaker 2 (59:20):
As my first preference is anyone but okay see, and
then my second preference is one of the Eastern, one
of the East teams.
Speaker 3 (59:30):
I'm gonna go with you on that as well. I
don't want anyone on the West Wind.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
And I'm torn when it comes to Nick Pacers. I mean,
I was. I think I've said this before. Me and
uh me and my buddy Kirk. Growing up, we were
the only two kids in our in my small town
that were every year rooting for he loved Reggie Miller,
and I loved Rick Smiths, and it was, uh like
shock loved Rick Smiths. The I was always Michael Jordan.
(59:57):
No I wanted, I wanted. I wanted the to beat
the Bulls every single time they played. And uh it
not for yeah, I mean yeah, not for lack of
not for any disrespect or lack of appreciation for Jordan.
(01:00:17):
I just I loved, like I loved those Pacers teams.
They were so much fun. I shooting threes, pushing the
ball like it was. It seemed like it was way
more wheels off than the Bulls. Structured, perfect triangle off,
you know, everything everything that I was told how great
the Bulls were. I just wanted to see the Pacers
(01:00:37):
at least make an NBA Finals going through Chicago. Uh So,
now obviously I still root, like I think, I make
the joke all the time on Wednesday nights when I'm
watching Leak, I'm watching Wednesday night Pacer games on League
Pass because I still lean Pacers just because of all
(01:00:58):
those years later. They're kind of the team I root
for in the East.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
But I did feel bad about that. Uh you know,
the Tayshawn Prince block on Reggie that career.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
Yeah, it's like joined the broadcast booth, Reggie, It's it's
time to go.
Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
Danny just dunk the man.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
He couldn't at that point. As as much as I
still hold an affinity for the Pacers, I gotta admit
it's pretty damn cool to see the Garden buzzing like
it is to see like, you know, you're not getting
Timothy Shallome and A and A Jenner Kardashian at court
side at the Pacers game. You're not getting Tracy Morgan
(01:01:38):
throwing up on the court during a game, and thats
exactly food poisoning. Sure, you're not getting Ben Stiller, You're
not getting you just pregnant. There's another that's not bad,
Tracy Morgan joining us now Tracy Morgan uh as a
casual NBA fan. If I'm thinking about what an NBA
(01:01:58):
Finals would sound like, look like, feel like in the
Garden versus in Indianapolis, yeah, I just think I think
that would be I don't at that point if it's
Nick's Oklahoma City, I'm never going to be actively rooting
for the next to win, but it would be a
much cooler product to watch on TV. Oklahoma City and
(01:02:22):
Indiana or God forbid.
Speaker 4 (01:02:23):
And I like to see Ant and Jalen Brunson go
at it. I feel like those two be fun. Those
two got the dog and them those two especially and
jumping down the building. Brunston just throwing his body on
the line, just willing it, willing it to win. That's
my that's my dream series. And whoever wins, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
You don't want to see s g a versus Brunson
or does that? Is there any they take away? The
Oklahoma City?
Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
Well, Oklahoma City is like right next to Norman, which
is Sooner Country, so they can suck a.
Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
D didn't even didn't even go for any subtlety or no.
That is just at least you edited it a little bit.
I always I remember back to the first Red River
shootout I went to as a kid with my family
and there was a guy wearing the infamous shirt you
(01:03:18):
can't spell seasucker without oh you. And I remember I
was like ten years old, you know, remember reading, and
I had asked Dad. I was like, what does that mean?
And he started to explain it. My Mom's like, George, George,
He's like, well, he's asking questions. I don't know what's no.
I he needs to know this exactly. This boy watch exactly.
(01:03:41):
This is his time to learn. You mentioned it. It's
it's the first NBA potentially whatever team makes it to
the finals, it's the first NBA finals for this new
era of stars. Like last year we saw you know,
Tatum and Brown versus Luca and the MAVs, and that
kind of felt like the beginning of the guard change,
(01:04:05):
you know, the uh and now though, of course, but
it wasn't. It still felt like it was more like,
I guess old man Kyrie is the one exception, and
of course Celtics had old Man Horford. But in terms
of this next generation of actual elite superstars making it
(01:04:25):
to their first NBA finals and this to just now
see it consecutively and back to back years where some
combination one of these four Sga and Brunton or Halliburton
is gonna win a championship as the best player on
their teams. That is a changing of the guard. And
(01:04:48):
we've you know, talked about this, argued about this a
lot in the past of you know, the NBA doesn't
have nearly as many marketable stars as the previous generation
as the Lebron mellow Wade or then Katie Curry, you
know those.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Because they've been still winning. Now exactly gonna see primetime TV.
Each game is gonna have the young stars in it,
and they're gonna show up. I hope they show up.
No sweeps. No sweeps, That's.
Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
What I'm worried about. I don't think. I think, I
don't think it's gonna be Looking at the potential matchups,
I don't think we necessarily see a sweep unless there's
a like Tatum level injury or not.
Speaker 4 (01:05:31):
Even we've been robbed of enough good series with injuries
this season. Yeah, on the playoffs, on the basketball side, Tatum, Lillard,
a couple more I'm forgetting.
Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
Yeah, there's been a lot of a lot of four ones. Curry,
there's yeah, Curry, the Curry injury. Uh, there's been a
lot of four ones. After an exciting you know, we
had multiple game sevens in Round one, also had either
multiple game sixes or one game six is one game
six in the opening round, and then the second round
(01:06:05):
was kind of oh yeah, yeah, you know, the title injury,
the Pacers beating the one seed in five games. Luckily
we got that was Thunder Nuggets.
Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
I wasn't surprised about that Cavaliers loss.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
I really wasn't. I really wasn't. I wasn't either, I
really was. I As crazy as it sounds, with how
good the Cabs were in the regular season, it wasn't
shocking to me.
Speaker 4 (01:06:30):
It was a Sacramento to me where I'm just like,
oh man, they're killing it in the regular season, but
they have not They don't have any playoff experience. And
then when you have to bang on a team for
five games in a row instead of just getting like
one one game here, and then you get to leave,
you know they're gonna get used to you. They're gonna
start wearing you down. They're gonna they're gonna game plan
(01:06:52):
a two game plan against you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Well, you know, one game. You know who's really damn
good at game plans in the playoffs. Rick Carlisle, Oh yeah,
the Pacers head coach. He obviously led the MAVs to
their only championship with Dirk in twenty eleven. Uh, and
then couldn't get along with Luca and got ran out
of town, which doesn't look like that grade of a Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:07:14):
How coaches are gonna go through La with Luca?
Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
I think JJ's got a leash because him and as
long as Lebron's there, JJ is there.
Speaker 4 (01:07:22):
Man, Lebron's gotta have just one more year left to
the man.
Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
I can't what forty three years old? Yeah, it doesn't
feel like there's it's two years. The over under feels
like one and a half. And I'll take the under. Yeah,
I mean I think probably last next year, last year.
Speaker 4 (01:07:38):
Now that he's seeing like all these young teams have
now emerged and this is this is the next page.
These are the next superstars.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
Okay, that's a good that's a good transition too, because
you mentioned the emergence of these young teams. So between
the final four here, which team do you think needs
to win the championship this year because they have the
smallest team window, because I think, I mean, obviously Oklahoma
(01:08:06):
City is set up to do this every year for
the next decade or for the next six.
Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
I would say I would say the Nicks, Cats. Cat's
getting old.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Yeah, and that whole core I see. The the only
reason Eileen Minnesota, even though they have Aunt, I think
the Minnesota Minnesota is the team that's facing the most
offseason changes ahead. Uh you know, uh, Reed's probably gone.
He Nazried is probably gonna leave in free agency, and
(01:08:37):
then the rest of that core that Julius Randall's been
great for them this year, but he's aging and he
plays a physical style of game that usually doesn't age well.
Go Bear is getting older by the minute. Uh. And
if you're just looking at teams that are probably not
going to look the same in two years, I think
(01:08:58):
Minnesota is at the at the top of that. If
Minnesota doesn't win this year, I think it's going to
be really really hard. With the Thunder being what they are,
the Rockets charging, you know, as young as they are
and already the two seed and potentially looking to make
some kind of big move this offseason. Uh, and then
(01:09:19):
just the rest of the Western Conference getting better. It
feels like Minnesota is the team that probably has the
most urgency to win it this year. Not that you
ever want to think there's always there's going to be
another year, But if you're an Oklahoma City fan and
you don't win it this year, you're not feeling that.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
You're going to be up there the next couple of years.
You would expect you're still the betting favorite going in.
Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
One thousand percent I would say, you know, right now,
if you're you know, with Tatum's injury, if you're looking
at the playoffs for the next year's champion, Oklahoma City's
got to be the betting favorite without hesitation. So yeah,
I that's where I there's a part of me that
(01:10:05):
obviously I want to see the t Wolves beat Oklahoma City,
but I don't necessarily want to see the t Wolves
beat either the Knicks or Pacers, even though I think
they have the most urgency to win in Eastern Conference
on me, And I'll tell you why, because the East
is so much weaker than the West top to bottom. Yeah,
(01:10:26):
and the West is only about to get more dominant
with the MAVs getting Cooper flag, Spurs getting you know, Harper,
I think it is their last chance. I think it's
about to get before like.
Speaker 4 (01:10:38):
A seven game run on the Western Conference.
Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
It's about to get really, really difficult to win a championship.
You're going to have an easy route through the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
In the East, but they're always going to be the underdogs.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
Always, and it's it feels it's starting to feel a
lot like early two thousands, East versus West, really separating Lakers,
Spurs one's.
Speaker 4 (01:11:00):
MAVs the only one. Yeah, weber fifty win team. It
took Detroit. They're like, do it in like New Jersey?
What was it three times? Four times in a row?
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
Yeah? With the kid Jefferson, Yeah, Jefferson, Dallas's own Kenyon Martin,
Kenyan Martin.
Speaker 4 (01:11:16):
I was thinking I sat next to him on a
plane once.
Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
I hear he's a quite intimidating in person, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:11:25):
I was like, I'm an intimidating person too, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Just like, hello, sir, Hello, sir. Would you like me
to get you anything? I was like, do you have
enough foot room? Yeah? Exactly. He's like, no, okay, well
then here, let me just just like alright, yeah. I
think if I think the league office is absolutely hoping
for a Knicks Thunder matchup, I think if you're if
(01:11:51):
you're a believer in conspiracies, let's.
Speaker 4 (01:11:53):
Who's who's more marketable, Anthony Edwards or SGA.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
So I think ANT is more marketable, but I think
the team, the Oklahoma City team is more marketable than
ANT because think about the the AT and T commercials
and that other whatever the other national brand that well,
SJA has skims, he has the Kardashian underwear. First of all,
(01:12:18):
he's Canadian and he endorses Kim Kardashian underwear. I think
we've said enough, and.
Speaker 4 (01:12:25):
I had a conversation about, okay last night, totally off
the books, Kim Kardashian's bra where it's on the outside
of the bra it has a hard nipple, and I'm like, well,
they're nipples shaming on that one because it's only the
little perky ones. What about the a ks, what about
the larger pepperoni nipples? I was like, you know, and
(01:12:46):
then you're also lying to the fellas where they take
all the bra and you're like, that's not that's nothing.
The nipple I wanted.
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
I love that, that's your I love that that's your
idea for a class action lawsuit. Well, you're lying to
all the guys out there. This is not a little
per nipples is false advertising you, But you hit on
something before the Kim Kardashian braw Hot Sports opinion. The
fact that s G A in all of his national
(01:13:14):
ads it's s G A and Chet or s G
A and CHET and Jalen Williams. It's the core of
Oklahoma City that is marketable. SGA is a soft spoken
Canadian kid. He's awesome at basketball, but he is nowhere
near the marketable personality that ant is. And I think
the Knicks obviously Brunson is the main marketing draw, but
(01:13:41):
that whole Villanova core they have, and then you add
in kat uh to to that Villanova corp of guys,
and the fact that it's New York. Obviously that's the
most marketable uh you know, of any team left. And
then lastly I would say, you know, Halliburton is the
least marketable star and so that's why it's Midwest of course.
Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
Yeah, so we have we have three teams. Wait, wait,
Pacers that actually won a championship back in the day,
right like early early or no, so we know Minnesota
does not want to win a championship. Oklahoma City has
not won a championship.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Now Pacers have never won it. They have a BA
championships but no, no NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
So three out of the four get a chance to
win their first championship.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
This is exciting, it is and it's it's also going
to be the seventh straight year where there is a
different champion. Yeah, we are fully in the era of
parody in the NBA. And I think it's I think
it's great because there isn't you know, if you have
a dining like we were talking, if you have a
(01:14:51):
dynasty like Bulls or Lakers or Spurs, that can carry
the narrative for the entire league. But at the same time,
if you have you know, obviously this is a changing
of the guard and old new stars coming in. But
I think the the balance of having a team like
Golden State or the or the Lakers with Lebron. Now,
(01:15:15):
of course Luca changes that because it restarts their timeline.
But having this this these aging teams. You know, even
the Nuggets aren't old old, but they're aging. They're getting fast,
very very quickly. To thirty. Yeah, and Jamal Murray's body
is is sixty. It's it's a different kind of I
think they saw him that his day.
Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
He fell off this this year man like he during
the playoffs, he just was a shadow of himself.
Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Yeah, he wasn't.
Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
That Jamal Murray two years ago. No.
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
No, it feels like the Nuggets kind of like the Cavs,
have some big decisions to make if they want to
stay in that upper echelon of the conference. But the
you know, the having that parody where teams like the
Warriors are a seven seed now with aging superstars while
young stars are ascending. These are kind of these are
(01:16:08):
the years of the league where you're not gonna necessarily
remember it historically for for the champions, but you're gonna
remember the pa, the handing of the baton, the passing
of the reins there and we're I mean, you mentioned
three of the four are looking to win their first championship.
You can't get much more parody than that. Outside and
(01:16:30):
and the Knicks, they're the exactly careful Willis reed was
it was limping out on that's right. Yeah, they I'm
proud that you even attempted. I wouldn't dare the Yeah,
the Knicks are the Knicks. Man. It's not like we're
(01:16:51):
talking about a team that won a championship ten years
ago or in our in our childhoods. You know, it's.
Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
Like you could get past you and John Starr and
all of them couldn't get past Jordan's.
Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
If you're under fifty, you've never seen any of these
teams win a championship.
Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
Yeah, no, So it's I'm excited about it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:17:11):
This is the Western Conference that's my dream matchup. I wanted,
I wanted. Okay, see in Minnesota, go, I want to
add an SGA. I think that they're gonna get hype
for this this series. And then Jalen Brunson just man,
he just reminds me of a small you know, uh,
what's my I talked about it and the bulls old
(01:17:32):
buddy who got hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
Uh oh, DROs d Rose.
Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
It reminds me of a smaller d Rose just willing
it to happen. Kind of Dwayne Wade, smaller Dwayne Wade.
Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Same mentality, Yeah, different rollers, which is also like a Manu.
Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Manu used to just throw his body.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
Brunson throws his body a lot of times like Manu did.
If you catch my drift, you're calling him a flopper, man,
I'm not saying. I'm saying he is an expert at
knowing what to do with his body to help his team,
almost like a Lucas by drawing almost well, almost like
(01:18:11):
a Lucas. You know. The only difference is a little
less floppy is Luca doesn't get those calls and Brunton does.
Speaker 4 (01:18:17):
Get Luca doesn't get those calls because he whinds after everything.
Speaker 2 (01:18:21):
Of course, and that's why he doesn't get That's why
he doesn't get them because the roofs hat him and
I don't know. It's now. I'm happy that that happens
because it's in a Lakers uniform and I don't have
to get upset.
Speaker 4 (01:18:31):
But I want to follow him over there before we go.
Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
It's not most and especially not now that they're about
to have Cooper flag. There's a lot of there's a
lot of resubmissions to the fandom up there in the
Metroplex the quick before we jump to the lightning round.
To close out here, you have you want to make
a put a couple of predictions on the record for
both series.
Speaker 4 (01:18:55):
I believe both series will go at least six. I
think we're not gonna get any five games series. We're
not gonna get a three to one. I think, uh,
we're gonna have six, maybe a game seven. And what
I think is gonna happen is gonna be Indiana and Okay, see,
really what I want to happen is New York and Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Wow, you think you think the Pacers are I think
they just have a more solid all around core. Yeah,
I think I.
Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
Think and Halliburn he's he's that man, and he's he's
got the physical attributes that Jayalen Bresident doesn't have.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Man, you got me thinking about it because I I
would have said I thought I thought Knicks Pacers was
gonna be the better of the two series. But I'm
leaning Knicks. I think I think the power of the
Garden and a Pacers team that none of them have
ever been there before, Not that the Knicks have, but if.
Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
I'm we see what happened at the Garden at least, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Yeah, yeah, it's hard to it's hard to argue against history. Now.
I think the the pedigree at least that the Knicks
have of the Villanova guys winning together, there's some some
level of security I can feel in saying they at
least have won something together versus the Pacers. I'm leaning Knicks.
(01:20:24):
And then unfortunately, I feel like I feel like Oklahoma
City is just too deep from Minnesota. There. Oklahoma City
has it's.
Speaker 4 (01:20:34):
Gonna and Soulda is gonna have to be broad and strong.
Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
Yeah, yeah, it's gonna take. It's gonna take a lot
a lot of work from ant to for them to
win that series. So give me Nick's thunder uh, and
we will reassess after the conference finals. Here, LG. You
ready for a little lightning round before we get out
of here. There we go. You'll be happy to know
I'm leading with this one just for you. The Sam
(01:21:00):
Francisco forty nine ers earlier today made Fred Warner the
highest paid linebacker in the league, deservingly three years, sixty
three million dollars. Of course, and they've done their They've
got their business is wrapped up now.
Speaker 4 (01:21:14):
He was still elite, top five linebacker with a broken.
Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
Foot all year.
Speaker 4 (01:21:21):
Yeah, played on a broken He's like in the acid,
like does it hurt?
Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
And he's like, hell, yeah, yes, yeah, what do you
It's a broken foot, man, Use your brains for one
and then hit me. Go for it. We also signed.
That's what I was hoping.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
You were going, Oh, yes, and I think it is.
He's the seventh highest paid, tied with Derek Goff, seventh
highest paid QB. Deserving lee, Deserving lee. Now when everybody calls,
oh he's a system, he's a system QB and all
this stuff in the past, he started his yards per
(01:22:02):
attempt nine yards per per He's first, he's first passer
rating one oh six point two second passing passing yards
nine two hundred and forty two third completion percent sixty
seven point seven fifth. And that's with last year, with
everybody going down, he still has those stats. And don't
(01:22:27):
tell me that the goat himself, Tom Brady didn't have.
Gronkowski won the best catching titands of all time, an Edelman,
a Walker, A Welker, a Randy Moss relately one of
the greatest physically gifted wide receivers of all time records.
And then when he came back to go to Tampa
(01:22:48):
to go get his ring, Godwin and Evans, well, don't
forget about it, brought Gronk along with them.
Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
Don't forget about Aaron Hernandez up there before Hernandez taking
off heads, dropping bodies.
Speaker 4 (01:22:59):
You know, come on now, Brod Perry deserved that money.
Speaker 2 (01:23:03):
Let me ask you, now that you've said all of that, yes,
when you've got me a little more convinced. But when
the number was first announced, what was your absolute instant reaction?
Was it, thank god we got him locked up?
Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
Or was it I said, thank god we got locked
up under fifty five? You know fair, I'm glad it
wasn't those sixty million contract, Like, uh.
Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
Oh, who would be so dumb to do that? Playoff
winnesday that.
Speaker 4 (01:23:31):
Doesn't have any that can't run anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
Yeah, well, at least they went out and got him
a number of A one A receiver. George Pickens, all right,
hit me LG. Sticking with NFL. I don't know about y'all.
I'm tired of seeing rookie mini caap camp footage. Oh, Like,
I saw a clip today comparing McMillan versus Travis Hunter
(01:23:58):
running routes at mini camp camp. I saw a video
of Trevor Lawrence overthrowing a guy and people talking about like, oh,
that's that's sign.
Speaker 4 (01:24:08):
He's not worth the money after one bad throw to
mini camp.
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Or the the Dylan Gabriel Shador Sanders footage that was
last week, like.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
Gabriel just throwing a dirty pig.
Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
The amount of opinions that are being formed and based
off of many camp footage, like it's one thing to
do it in training camp. Yeah, where you're actually like, oh,
this guy is having bad he's having a great camp.
It looks like he might be ready for some kind
of breakout or anything. Like we're talking about it's may man,
it's the middle of May.
Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
Did you catch the little pick of the QBS in
New York? And they're like, look at Russell Wilson in
not in shorts, man, he's ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:24:52):
I'm like, kidd, are you kidding me? There's nothing to
be gained, Absolutely nothing to be gained by watching footage
from any of these camps. Right now. It's May nineteenth. Hi,
here me LG.
Speaker 4 (01:25:08):
Joe exoticase husband got deported to Mexico after prison release.
Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
No way, poor Joe. How did I miss any of that? Man?
Speaker 4 (01:25:18):
Just live?
Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
How did I miss any news? You tell me?
Speaker 4 (01:25:22):
Nothing good comes out of Oklahoma? He's sweet Joe Exidica.
Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
Brother, He's not Oklahoma's own, he's North Texas's own. He
was the former sheriff deputy of like Pilot Point up
in up In BFB, rural West DFW. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:25:37):
But his poor husband that he had is deported to
Mexico because of Trump's agenda to not release Joe. Release
Joe Trump, Come.
Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
On, man, Joe was dying. I thought he had like
some cancer. He's got a little bit of answer, but
who doesn't these days everybody we all drink the plastic. Yeah, well, yeah,
make America healthy again. Hit me lg uh Biden got
the cancer and Brittany Mahomes got new ones.
Speaker 4 (01:26:07):
Oh yeah, I was I wash. You had the picture
thrown ups like the two new assets coming to the
chief coming to the chiefs.
Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
There's no reason. We don't need to object a fire.
We're just reporters here. I'm just simply reporting the news.
And the roommate made me aware.
Speaker 4 (01:26:24):
If it makes me take the attention away from her face,
I'm cool about it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
Ah. She is no model, but she made the cover
of that Sports Illustrated. I don't think she's gonna be
back in Taylor Swift's good graces anymore. But I hear
Taylor Swift isn't even hot anymore.
Speaker 4 (01:26:41):
So. Oh and our commander, that's so ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:26:47):
You want to keep it real. You keep it real
with me.
Speaker 4 (01:26:49):
Hey, the Mexicans have struck back and hit the Brooklyn
Bridge with their navy ship.
Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
Is this the start of World War three? Uh? Sir?
There were two Indo vials that lost their life and
that h I did not know that. I thought it
was hilarious until I heard that earlier. The videos of
just watching that thing crash into the bridge.
Speaker 4 (01:27:15):
There's just video chases of watching it's like it's gonna
hit oh, and it's gonna hit again.
Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
Oh, it's the bridge. So apparently there were people up
on the mask on the mast. Yes, they thought all
the way from the top of the mast onto onto
the boat deck. Oh my god. Yeah, it's like one
hundred and fifty.
Speaker 4 (01:27:35):
If you drop off the bridge, you're dying when you
hit the water.
Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
Anyway, you at least have a chance of living versus
landing on terra Firma. Yeah, they were apparently apparently it
like lost power, uh, and then was drifting with the current,
which is what because when I saw, like when you
just see the video for the first time, I couldn't
help but just think, like what idiot thinks that's gonna fit?
Speaker 4 (01:27:59):
Like what it's did they need to put the heights
sign on the bridge like they do on the overpasses
for the truckers, or it's like.
Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
The old sports Center Drew Brees commercials, like the gate
is too narrow, I cannot fit. You're gonna have to
And he's in the Marty Gral flow. It's like you've
got to back up, but I can't fish. I can't
go forward to back up and that Like watching it,
I just couldn't help but think like, how did they
not see that? And then of course reading more like
(01:28:27):
have a seizure or something. The boat lost power? Oh
that's a boat lost power drifting.
Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
You got, he's got to be an emergency anchor somewhere
on there.
Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
You would think, you would think there was something that
could have been done. But yeah, unfortunately a couple of individuals,
someone lost their job. Probably not lg on that note,
Hit me one more time, hit me a couple of times.
We still got I. Uh, did you see the Eagles
gave Sirianni a multi year extension?
Speaker 4 (01:28:58):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:28:59):
Really?
Speaker 4 (01:28:59):
Yeah, even though with all his shenanigans, that's great. I
mean there's no coach.
Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
Okay, Now that Dan Campbell is in Detroit, even though
he's a even though he's from my hometown, or at
least went to my hometown high school, he somehow fits
perfectly with what I think of when I think of Detroit.
Just hard nosed, blue collar, no nonsense, take no shit
kind of guy. All you know, brash, attitude, driven, not
(01:29:27):
gonna be punked by anybody. Until Dan took the Detroit job,
that pat I thought Sirianni was the best representation of
a team by their head coach. It's like, when I
looked at him, I was like, Yep, that's the Philadelphia
Eagles head coach, without question. And I can't help but
(01:29:50):
go back to when he first got the job in Philly,
he gave one of the worst introductory press conferences ever
and ever since then has only gone on to win
the Super Bowl and now has been extended. We don't
have the total number of years, but a multi year extension, LG.
Do you have that uh that first intro press conference?
(01:30:13):
By chance? Oh? Yeah? Okay, have you ever heard this?
Do you remember this a little?
Speaker 4 (01:30:17):
I probably remember the time, but I can recall it.
Speaker 2 (01:30:19):
Okay, just think about as you're hearing this back. If
you're an Eagles fan day one and you're hearing this.
Speaker 4 (01:30:26):
Lete, this guy is your ro rock flag and Eagle.
Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
This is the guy that's gonna lead you to a
Super Bowl win. Yes.
Speaker 6 (01:30:36):
Next thing that's very important to me is that we
build a smart football team. That we have a smart
football team here, and I know we have the people
in place to do that.
Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
The first part of that, the first part of.
Speaker 2 (01:30:46):
Being smart is knowing what to do.
Speaker 6 (01:30:48):
We're gonna we're gonna know, we're gonna have systems in
place that easier to learn, all right, complicated to the
defense or offense that they're going against, the special teams
group that are going against.
Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
But easy for us to learn.
Speaker 6 (01:31:03):
Because when we can put that, because we when we
can learn our system and we can get good at
our system, then our talent can take over. Talent takeover,
but we need to have systems in place, and we
will have systems in place.
Speaker 2 (01:31:17):
Next that guy, that guy would go.
Speaker 4 (01:31:20):
On to be right there, We're not even going to
win the division.
Speaker 2 (01:31:25):
Probably the most beloved Eagles coach. He was so nervous.
That guy was so nervous. Man hit me, LG.
Speaker 4 (01:31:35):
Did we ever find the did you find the clip
of the organ softball player?
Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
I couldn't see that. I couldn't find it.
Speaker 4 (01:31:45):
Before the she took a liner right to the dome,
right to the nose.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
Are we talking college softball again? Back to back mondays?
We've had college.
Speaker 4 (01:31:56):
They eat Genny Finch, that got the.
Speaker 2 (01:32:02):
Great college softball katman.
Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
But she blood spreading all over her white uniform, getting
dragged off like a knocked out boxer.
Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
She got rocked. This is the same reason I don't
enjoy watching female boxing or mma. I don't. I don't
want to see a girl You're not a feminist. I
don't want to see a girl blood. No, No, if.
Speaker 4 (01:32:25):
That's what that guy can get hit in the face.
A girl can get hit in the face, and I support.
Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
It, yeah, even if it's whether it's a girl doing
it or a softball. I don't need to see a
girl bloodied playing sports. Dude. It was gushing like her
holy leg.
Speaker 4 (01:32:39):
She was leaning over her leg and the organ ducks
had let their white uniforms on and it was just
a huge puddle of blood.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
On her thing.
Speaker 4 (01:32:47):
And when she got up, man, her left leg wasn't
moving right, so you know she was concussed. Phars out
to you, old girl. Man, oh man, you took it
into the face like a champ, so to speak.
Speaker 2 (01:32:59):
LG hit me again.
Speaker 4 (01:33:01):
And boom goes to dynamite.
Speaker 2 (01:33:02):
I saw a headline earlier today that really really tickled
my fancy. Apparently my city council member uh in district
too down there is going to need to fill in
come August or September, and they are taking applications. WHOA
tell me, tell me.
Speaker 4 (01:33:23):
Do you need Hey, I can run your political campaign
and we will win, sir.
Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
Tell me why there's not to be Yeah, he's getting
a paternity leave.
Speaker 4 (01:33:36):
I wonder if we can get some bills passed during
that little turn.
Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
I don't think you get any kind of power. I
think you. I think you basically you're a Do you
get a sash? Uh? Maybe a robe or something or
a wig like a cape? I think oh, definitely, every
city council member needs a cape. I think you you
(01:34:00):
serve basically. It's like on Arrested Development when what's his
name was on House arrest and he had the guy
that was just the surrogate or whatever. I think that's
what you are. Basically, you're told how he wants to vote,
and you do it in person for it.
Speaker 4 (01:34:16):
But still, hey, I being like, so you really want
me to do it this way?
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
I'll update you if I hear anything back, but I
might I might have already applied in the hat.
Speaker 4 (01:34:30):
Can't hurt oh man, that's it for me, man, unless
you got another one.
Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
Let's close it out with this. LG. Hit me one
more time. Haa, Hannah, We'll leave the Caitlin Clark Angel
Reese rivalry for I did have that on there. That's
much ado about nothing. I mean, it's it's a basketball foul.
She shoved her to the ground, not even a shove.
She wrapped her up. She wrapped her up. She shoved her.
(01:34:55):
She definitely wrapped her. She definitely gave her a little push.
But it was a hard foul. It's exactly what she
was wide open. And if you're the exactly it prevented
a layup. And if you're not dump if you're the
w NBA, well you never know. If you're the w
n B, A sure call. That a flagrant fowl. Let's
all move on like there, let's go Well look, man,
(01:35:17):
I look, I'll be the first to admit when someone
fouled me hard like that, it didn't matter if it
was a smart foul. I'm getting up in the same
way I'm clapping back to like it didn't have to
be that hard, no matter, you know, like I understand
what you were trying to do. That's enough, that's we're leaving. Yeah,
we've talked to w n B a twice. Lastly, though
(01:35:40):
the uh did either one of y'all catch SNL this weekend?
It wrapped its fiftieth season. Oh yes, and.
Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
I kind of love I always watched the Michael j.
Speaker 2 (01:35:51):
And the joke exchange on the last it it's pretty
good when Jay keeps threatening that he's gonna leave after
this season. Yeah, so if that was the last one
we got of them two together, that's pretty good. Say
the most racist things. That's funny how that happens, right,
white dude from Staten Island, Let's get him to say
(01:36:13):
racist stuff. Play played into the role. It seems like
throughout the throughout this season it seems like they are
very actively attempting to be edgier, to be less like,
you've you got way more I think you just got
way more jokes that you wouldn't have had. Over the
(01:36:34):
last few seasons, it seemed like they kind of stopped
playing into the world try Yeah, well not even I
wouldn't even call it that. It's they know, it's like
agreed in a lot of ways. But to me, it
was always like they were trying to appeal to the
liberal centrist of like, we're not going to do anything
(01:36:55):
too offensive. We're not going we're gonna make fun of
the people you don't like. We're gonna like our whole
comedy is just poking fun at the things you don't
like instead of poking fun at the obvious things on
both sides that are just funny. Like there's a lot
of you know, obviously, with SNL being what it is,
(01:37:18):
it's always gonna lean more one way than the other.
But you can't tell me over the last four years
there weren't more jokes they could have done at the
expense of our former president who oh yeah again, let's
let's get through the health scare.
Speaker 4 (01:37:34):
But still when we got our CDC director, please don't
take my health advice at all. I don't want you
to take health advice from the cd from the.
Speaker 2 (01:37:43):
Disease ye to me is like you know, you know
what you're getting.
Speaker 4 (01:37:48):
When you run like taking his grandkids into the sewage
run off.
Speaker 2 (01:37:54):
Yeah again again. And that's why this is this is laughable.
Speaker 4 (01:37:59):
I don't know, there's a reason why they do jokes
on this. I mean, like, as Bill Maher says, I
used to not make fun of the left as much
because they used to not be so stupid, you know,
And it's like, oh my god, dude, both sides are
just killing me right now.
Speaker 2 (01:38:13):
Oh then there's there's the centrist moderate back into the room. Yeah,
both sides are killing me.
Speaker 4 (01:38:19):
I'm an independent.
Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
Do watch you do watch mar here and you talk
like that. Can't get fool again. All right, let's get
out here. Shout out Crystal Palace. They won the FA Cup,
get their first silverware. Very nice. Yeah. First, Uh, there's
like one hundred and thirteen years. I mean most of those,
most of those soccer countries date or soccer teams date
back to like our post Civil war a decade. Because
(01:38:41):
that's all you needed was a ball. It was very easy, poor,
very easy. Well help us, we're poor.
Speaker 4 (01:38:47):
Subscribe Yeah, there's subscribe like click like like.
Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
And subscribe this thing for. We will be back Wednesday night.
I'm gonna be heavily distracted because it's gonna be during
game one of Stars Oilers. But we do it for
the Rangers New York game. We do it for the people.
We will be back Wednesday night till then, as always,
appreciate you all riding along, Appreciate y'all supporting this thing.
(01:39:13):
We will talk again Wednesday. Peace. Ziah kids.
Speaker 1 (01:39:21):
What do we say about drugs?
Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
Yeah,
