go tonight, so to speak, Welcome into the sports Cave
with biggest Puma.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
I am your host, Sam.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Freeze, broadcasting once again here live in the northern hinterlands
of our great city, San Antonio, where we find ourselves.
We got a new countdown. You ready for it?

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Oh, buddy, the drum? I can't roll my tongue.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Okay, First of all, I'm pretty delirious because I just
finished covering Uncle Andy's show, so I've already done three hours.
So bear with me as I try to drum roll
and realize. Remember, I can't roll my tongue. We are
forty three days away from NFL Opening night.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh, kickoff? You know what the first game is? Oh yeah, dude,
it's Isn't the Bills? Oh no, no, no, the Ravens.
Oh no, oh?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
The Super Bowl champion always opens the season Eagles.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
And not the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
September fourth, Cowboys at Eagles, forty three days from tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
You ready for the l Cowboys fans?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
If you are a Cowboys fan out there right now,
best chance to get the w if you're gonna beat Philly.
It's on opening night as they're celebrating their Super Bowl rings.
But if you are actually confidently saying, oh, that's a
win for the Cowboys, what are we doing?

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Who are we doing? Though? Even me, like, this is
y'all's year? Man, don't you know it's Cowboys? Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Or bus I saw a meme you would be high
upset about. It was the this is Our year crowd
and it was like Arsenal Dallas Cowboys. There was another
several other teams, but I even I I stood up
for you. The Yankees were included on there. And you
can't be a this is our year team when you've

(02:18):
won what twenty seven?

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah? Where are you all at now? When our last
one was nine? Right?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
It's not like it was the thirty years ago, like
James right?

Speaker 1 (02:28):
And I thought that.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Was a just a cheap shot at a Yankees fan.
So just so you know, I will defend you when
it's uh. And we talked about that on Andy Show today,
So I know, I know you're looking forward to NFL
Opening Night, but not specifically because it's the Cowboys. Can
I interest you in?

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Today?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Is also gorgeous Grandma Day, gorgeous That is a real
thing that gets pr press releases.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
No should I tell this story. I got the story
for everything.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
If there's hesitation, it tells me if you're hesitating.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
It kind of makes me.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Feel like, oh that what might be better.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
It's a good story, dude. One of my friends, the
infamous arm wrestling thing. They said, would you rather her
or her mom? Because she's like, she's like the grandmother.
She cooks like she cooks me dinners. You know, it
gives me a little to go play. She's always she
runs a food truck, a great grandma. Yeah. And I

(03:34):
was like, she is actually in a great grandma And
they said would you rather? And I was like, believe
it or not, I go with the grandma. Look, I'm
just saying, do you understand it's twenty five the listeners
out there. The average grandma is now speculation is fictional.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
But versus a grandma thirty years ago, it's quite a different.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
This one's the life up keep the Okay.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Well, I stand by it. She's gorgeous on the inside.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Gorgeous grandma wonderful.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah, We've I mentioned, just got done. We did the
We tried something a little different there at the top
and I might have completely derailed us.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
L G.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
I apologize for the new idea we tried to implement
with very.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Little look good. I mean we're both grooving with that music. Yeah,
but I hear.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
LG saying I might have caused a bit of a
computer crash.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, So I mean, do we have LG in the
other room?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Please tell me, dear God, oh radio.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
There it is?

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Okay, So there actually is for once, this is not
a bit. We are actually no.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
I like the we are zero days.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, we do need a board, Actually we needed zero
we need Yeah, I can think of a few things
that we could count. We could count daily.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
No, we're all good. But I just had to I
just had to restart a bunch of programs.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah I did. Yeah, we're good.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I like the idea of having a little five minute
buffer at the top of the show. You know, today
I was scrambling to get over here from the iHeart
Mothership after hosting for Andy. But I kind of think
that it makes us look more professional. It does it
look like real podcasters that know what the hell we're doing.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
I think it'd be funny, like whenever, like, what was
it we were watching? Uh? Was it soccer when we
were like racing in here to do it, and like
all of a sudden, it's like, are they going to
get there in time? Oh? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
When we were watching the Gold Cup, yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I was like, that would have been a good one
to see.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah that that would have been a good time to
have a five minute buffer.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
But yeah, no, you if you were thrown off a little.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Bit there at the top. I think I think we're
going to embrace that moving forward because I kinda kind
of like giving the good people some time to hop
in and get comfortable. Maybe even in the future can
jump into that chat there in the first five minutes,
especially as we creep closer and closer to five hundred subscriptions.

(06:20):
I did my best, boys, I plugged as much as
I could today until finally they were like, hey, let's
focus on Let's focus on the show that you're hosting,
not the one you're hosting, Tony, but LG tell the
good people how they can help us out, what they
can do to help us grow this thing.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
You can hit that subscribe button right there on your
phone underneath the video player. On YouTube, you can hit
the the like button as well. That helps us out too,
and go to buy me at coffee dot.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Com, repost repost repost slash.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Sports Cave Live, and you can donate to the Microphone
phoned fund And if you look into description on our
last podcast, going to put it in this one as well.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Actually you might be there.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
You'll see that we have an Amazon wish list where
if you feel like being a benefactor of the show,
you can straight up by us a microphone very nice anonymously,
or you can put your name.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
On it in Sports Cave lore. Yes, yeah, we will.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
We'll appreciate the microphone equally whether you do it anonymously
or if you broadcast to the world that you are
benefactor exactly.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
That microphone always knows whose home it is.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
We'll name the microphone after you there.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah, there's some naming. Bobby, give me Bobby back.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
The the the honorable whoever microphone.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
I like that. That's a good bit. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Now, just to further it's LG said, it's completely free
if you all have if you have a YouTube account,
please please please give us a subscription. Get into that
mystical five hundred number opens up more than I realize.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
But LG says, we gotta figure out what we're gonna
do for the five hundred.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Se Yeah, I think five hundred five hundred will be sedated.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
We just we need to get talk about some suggestions
people in the chat man, like you know, hit us
on our socials or something, and you know, get at us,
tell us something we can do, you know, I mean,
we never really have. Wednesday is not the most talkative days,
you know, hump day, everybody's out there.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Well, I'm glad it's funny you described it that way,
because this Wednesday might be one of the least talkative
days because I took a five hour But I am
fuming right now, not in the like angry, fuming mad
way I am.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Can I ever tell you about what I took one
of those educate me the first and only time I
think I was. You make it sound like hitting myth
or something. Oh buddy, like I have. I have been
around the block and I have you know, I may
or may not have tried some myth, but you know.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
That very subtle, so very.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Like I'm like, we're getting we're getting off a cruise
and like there's no sleep. I was, I'm probably on
like thirty hours staying up and we're having to drive
back from Miami to Texas, and I'm like, five hour
energy just came out. So I was like, you know,
I'm drinking monsters and all that stuff. I was like,
let me check out what this five hour energy does.
I pop it instant like. It was just like it

(09:43):
was like smoking myth. You know what I'm saying. I've heard,
I've heard supposedly. And I literally white knuckled that wheel
for about two hours during like a tsunami up in
like the Panhandle of Florida. And my friend finally wakes
up and looks at me and he's like, are you
all right? And I'm like, no, I don't think so, man, no, man,

(10:07):
And so we had to pull over and I sat
there and just grounded my teeth for about like three
hours until they woke up and took over. Still didn't
go to sleep. No, it's not up for about forty
eight hours, fifty hours. I was hallucinating.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah, y'all bear with me because I took the five
hour and also realize it's an empty stomach to my lunch. Yeah,
so we're we're having fun.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Here, aren't we. We're having the little bubbles.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
But no, it was it was really really good to
get back out to the mothership earlier today and host
for Andy. I've got We're gonna stay on schedule. We've
got to do our NFC North preview tonight. Got some
more meat on the bone from Monday night show that
we didn't get to, So of course we'll still have

(10:55):
our normal lightning round and start with a little bit
of what I watched. But before we get too much deeper,
I should also tell you it's vanilla ice cream Day.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
No, I'm kidding. Oh, I want to give me another
poops out of the fart sound there, Laurence.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Oh dude, we did a whole segment. We did a
whole fart segment.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Just thinking about milk and ice cream makes me my
stomach just churned. Yeah. So lactose intolerant. That sounds awful. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
No, before we get going too much further, before we
get to what I watched, the one of the notes
I had from Monday night show that we didn't get to.
I forgot to ask you, LG. While we still have
a stable connection, have do you have have you first
of all, have you seen any of the gameplay of
this new Donkey Kong Bonanza game and Secondly, do you

(11:47):
have any desire to potentially get it so I can
play some of it whenever we're over here on Monday
and Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Iking to me, I haven't seen any gameplay at all,
but I've read some articles since the headlines and some
comments and the reviews and whatnot, And yes, I'm interested.
Am I going to buy it? No, because I barely
have time to play the games I have. Yeah, I
might get it way down the line used at some point.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, that's kind of like I've been Puma.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Seems like he's gonna buy it just so he can
play it over here.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
If I could get a good deal, like an hour
early eventually what you know what?

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Actually, because I'm going to eventually get the switch to ye,
so I might as well by the game twitch stream
until I can find an Actually, I heard it.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Was the next the best thing since Mario sixty four, So.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
It's getting crazy good, it's getting crazy, And it's.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
That's the one with the weird controller, right, you get
used to it.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Yeah, the it's being compared to basically like Donkey Kong
or Super Mario Odyssey, but Donkey Kong instead of Mario.
That most recent which was also spiritual success.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Like I think it was aussy where like it was
like you walk around the world that.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Was galaxy, yes, galaxy, yeah, planet to planet similar.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Yeah, they're all, they're all.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
That's that same line of Mario sixty four was the
first time it was three D.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
It's the three D marios.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
So, uh, this new one, this new Donkey Kong game
looks pretty fun. I might actually take you up on that.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
That's not a bad idea. I'll take you up.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Yeah. Yeah, you take each other up on you act
like you don't you act like you don't play video
games or.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Don't don't know what I do enjoy like but like
like Laurren said, man, I'm busy, man.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
You can stick your cartridge in my slot.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Oh buy any as long as you blow on it first.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Of course, you don't.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Have to do that, just row dog it right in there. No,
you don't need to blow on it.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
This ain't the nineteen did anybody Did anybody do the
ne e s where they put the cartridge on top
of the cart for sure?

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Yeah, yeah, I did the thing where you like snap
it down real hard as it's going in.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Yeah, and you don't put it all the way in
and you just put just the tip.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Yeah, yeah it is, yeah, and then you jam it
in as hard as you can.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah, you're basically describing the b YU students soaking in
the dorms.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
That's actually you need someone to help you. That's fair.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
That's probably where they got the idea. No, y'all mention
too busy to play, So I've been waiting.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
That's not playing, sir.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
I've been waiting for months now to get my my
skate play test invite. Oh yeah, And of course the
day it rolls in, it rolled in last night, late later.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
In the evening last night. How long was the downloading?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
It was quick, because it's not it's not a huge
it's just the demo beta, the beta.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
So I got it downloaded last night and started playing,
and it was already ten thirty at night. Whenever I
started playing on it, I played it for like an hour,
hour and a half and then literally, unfortunately ironic, I
had to force myself to stop playing video games because

(15:09):
I knew I had.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
I was wondering why you're tired, You're like then four o'clock, ran.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
I am still on a bit of a later sleep schedule,
but it uh, it might have been closer to one
than midnight, but not the normal.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
So what do you think? Good thumbs up? Got thumb
sideways for now.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Like the physics, the gameplay is really fun. It's classic skate.
The physics are good from what I've seen so far.
It's nothing groundbreaking or spectacular. But yeah, that's still the same.
It's exact same. You can use the exact same old
school controls, which is nice. So super like you said,
super like reactionary to the board with the stick like

(15:58):
it's good in that way like it used to be.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
But they're doing it.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
As a free to play game now like Fortnite, So
the game is going to be free. It'll just be
full of micro transactions.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Like to get a different deck to any of that,
but they like to get the good tricks or to
get where you can easier grinds, so you can exactly.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
And the other problem of that, even more so than
the micro transactions, is they've made it like cartoonish like Fortnite.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
It's like chicken soup. Guys.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Here, I'll uh, this isn't good for the video stream,
but I'll show you as exactly.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
You're not going to be a tester anymore.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
This is that's what my guy looks like like super cartoonage.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Oh yeah, that's kind of like Vice City type.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Yeah, like old PS three graphics that whenever I was
a kid, thought like, how are they ever going to
do any better than this?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Yeah, as you see the every pore in that person's
face on like the New got a War.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
That's kind of whack because Skate was always the hyper
realistic right skating game exactly compared to Tony Hawk.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Right, and that's like now the new the remake of
Tony Hawk three and four look more realistic than the
New Skate, But the New Skate as far as I've
played so far, still has a lot of that same
realism physics engine. Yeah, so it still plays like it's
the most realistic skate sim but it looks nothing like

(17:34):
it anymore. So it's a it's a weird mind f.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
I wonder I wonder it. And so do they do
kind of like where you can climb up a building
and do some crazy off the wall.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
That's the other thing they added is they added more
like because I do hark a lot, I do climb, yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
To get to a spot. Yeah, man, we'll see. I
dig that as long as it's not like Overtaken, where
it takes you twenty minutes to get up somewhere exactly.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
And I think there's you know, I was watching, uh
before I had gotten the invite, I'd been watching other
people play it, and there was a lot of that,
but it was people intentionally trying to get to, you know,
places they shouldn't have been allowed to get to, or
trying to get to the highest point. So far, I'm
gonna need to put more time in it, but the uh,

(18:20):
the excitement of getting it quickly waned when I remembered
I had a full day ahead of me uh today
and whenever, Like, I didn't think the visuals would be
that much of a kick to the nuts, but yeah,
it's kind of a kick to.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
The not So what about the background? Is the background detailed? Detailed? There? No,
it's still more.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
There was a I can't remember the name of it,
but there was a it was like a it was
a roller skating game that was paired up with like
anime music and it was like.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Oh, yeah, that right.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
So it's more like that in apparance, but still the
like realistic physics of skating.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
So yeah, it's I think I could. The thing just
said radio was just like the speed that they got
up on, you know, like it was like if you're
going to be realistic, dude, Like that was like totally
over the top anime. Yeah, it's not nearly at that
level of a great soundtracks of speed or.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
P Yeah, that exactly. That makes it, uh, you know,
kind of addicting.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Now they got nothing but like East Coast like old
school skate music, you know, back when it was grimy.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, I like it, you know, yeah that skate games
always have the best, always have the best soundtracks.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Well, I also would like before we started the show,
we're gonna have to apologize to our listeners. Oh god,
and issue was stack correction one. Samuel Puma said that
the Texas Rangers were the hottest team in average and

(20:05):
run scored in the month of July.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
I definitely said run scored. We might have to check
the tape on average falls past.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
According to chat Jigititatizzle, New York Yankees ninety four runs
abouting a six six twenty seven, or averaging six to
twenty point twenty seven runs per game. Toronto Blue Jays
eighty eight five point eight seven, Boston Red Sox eighty
six five point seven three, Houston Astros eighty six five

(20:37):
point seven three, Texas Rangers eighty six five point seven three.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
So how far were they behind in total runs?

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Almost a full run from the top Yankees? Yankees? Well,
not a full run, half run, half run? What were
they no?

Speaker 2 (20:54):
The total run, total runs eight? They were eight behind
the Yankees. Okay, so it must have been. And it
was through like the first two weeks, which I thought
they could, thought they had still thought they had still maintained.
You mentioned the Astros in there. Do you look peep
the standings today? The Astros officially have the best.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Winning percentage in the American League. Now they're a machine machine.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Another injury. I can't even say, because Seattle is nice,
I mean, and of course Texas do have the stats.
If they can, if they can keep this hitting up
and actually win some games.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Even if they can just do half of what they've
done in July so far, they'll be close. They'll be
fighting for a wild card spot. I appreciate the correction.
I will I will always.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
I felt real good, good right here, a heart and
it just so happens that it's the Yankees that I
saw that and I was like, clip, thank you my
ai overlord.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Yeah, see, it's not They're not so bad, right.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Hey, they're they're pimp gaming me. They're trying to get
me like they're they're giving me a little bit and
then they're going to smack me down with something and
then they're gonna bring me back a little bit more
and they're gonna beat me down even more.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
No, they know, they absolutely know they I want.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
To be relying on them and I'm gonna be their
bottom bitch.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Well you want, Now that's a classic South Park I
need to watch the Old Butters.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Uh the Old Butter's.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Bottom Bitch episode, the Let's Talk Rangers then, because that
is what I watched last night as we usually start.
UH Rangers. Now they've taken the first two games from
Oakland after taking two out of three from Detroit coming
out of the break, that one with the only loss
to Scooble on on Sunday night when they had to
scratch Uvaldi at the last minute. UH Rangers. Now, with

(22:38):
last night's win, they are two games over five hundred
for the first time since May eighteenth.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Our back. Are they from the wildcard?

Speaker 2 (22:48):
I believe it's I believe it's two from a wild
card and eight from the Astros. Yeah, you just need
to they're gonna Yeah, they're not gonna catch the Astros there,
there's no there's no real path. I can see that. Houston. Uh,

(23:09):
they're only going to get stronger as they get more
guys back. Yeah, looking at Rangers of game and a
half behind Boston there in the wild card, but also
the second wild card.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Look at that.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
The Yankees are a wild card team.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
And we're losing against Toronto. Oh no, and then oh
Judge was zero for seven and then hit a two
run bomb to tie the game at four, and then oh,
Cody Bellinger lost the ball. I haven't seen that in
a long time. To the best of us, I haven't
seen that in a long time. Gave up a triple.
They gave up two more runs. Now two more runs go.

(23:49):
But we can like we burnt our bullpen man and
are one of our aces. The Wiseiga isn't Yankee minute,
but he is. He is. We're talking baseball tonight. It's
gonna be a he's he can't locate anything. There's no
break on his fastball, or he used to have the
best movement in the game on his fastball. In his cutter,

(24:12):
he was the spin rate was one of the highest.
And now after his injury, he just I mean, he
can't locate anything. Man. He's even meatballs over the plate
and every time he comes in, man, he's giving up
a run or two. Man. I just I gotta get
on Boon. Man, you gotta, like you gotta sit him
down for a couple of days, send him down, you know,

(24:34):
let him get his let him get his You know you're.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Not ready to actually like raise any kind of panic level.
You talk about getting on Boon Like.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Boone's jobs Boone's job secure. I mean, he's the winning,
the winning, this percentage coach in that like active right now,
only because they had to fire Houston's coach Carrera or
was it the he went to Boston right Oh, yeah,

(25:04):
they had to fire him after the scandal. Cora, Yeah, Cora, yeah,
they had to fire him after the scandal.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
On aj hinch back with those Detroit Tigers that sixty wins.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Yeah, the I didn't.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Realize the lockjam between R two divisions because Yankees are
the top wild card team. Mariners are the second. Red
Sox are the third, and then half a game behind
Boston is Tampa, and then a game and a half
behind Boston is Texas.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Yeah. Ude, thees Centrals out of the wild Card. It's
going to be either the West or the.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Unless Cleveland gets hot. But it looks like Cleveland is
more likely to trade Kwan and class A. Speaking of
class I would love for the Rangers to pay to
bring him back.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
He was a wars prospect Suarez from the Diamondbacks. If
we secure him.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
I saw he might be linked with a move nothing
close to solid, but he might be interest or the
might be interesting.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
And I'm over a short style lope. Man, he's now
tied unless he made another air of this game. He's
tied for the most errors in baseball at eighteen. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
You can't have that at a short stop, at a
short stock. That's that makes it even worse. The only
one potential. Yeah, but that's the thing about baseball.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Though. We did draft a short style, but that's not
gonna be three years down the road. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
The you know all of the holes in the lineup,
and your team, Yankee is still eleven games over five
hundred with the you know, trade deadline still ahead. I
think we're going obviously because of the now additional wild
card teams, you see more teams try to make complimentary

(26:47):
trades at the deadline, but specifically.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
You don't see too many selloffs, right, but.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Specifically this year like Yankees, big budget, big market, Yeah,
they're gonna make moves. It sucks big budget, big market
mariners have been.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
It's your countdown. I want when's trade deadline? Thirty first? Right?

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Thirty first? Okay, oh no, no, they go all the
way through. Uh they go through all the way through August.
Oh is it that close?

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Eleven or twelve days? I think they go August. Let
me say third, See it might be thirty first, you
might just if they kept thirty Firstly, it makes sense
they got rid of the non the.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Waiver trade deadline they used to be in August, where
if a guy, if you could pass him through waivers,
then you could still trade him, which is always unstable.
But yeah, no, we're we're eight days away from MLB
trade deadline. But all of you know, your whole division
outside Tampa's not going to make a big swing. If

(27:47):
they get hot, they'll take a playoff run.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
But if not. They're they're not going to invest or
give up a lot at the deadline. They they don't
buy anything anywhere now.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
If anything, they sell at the deadline. And then they're
still a playoff team because they're so usually so deep.
And then the Rangers, you know, chrisy Young isn't given
up on this season.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
So I would acknowl that statue. Your starters, man, your
starters are just deadly, like if you can just get
some pop in the bats.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Yeah, you know, as you saw, Okay, correct, I think
he's got I think he's up to a twenty six
game on base streak something like that. Now, yeah, he's
finally he's been the anchor of this offensive revival because
as Segar goes, that offense goes uh Seger and Simon

(28:36):
in the in the middle of it.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
But yeah, I we're even.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Looking at the NL, you know, big market teams with
high hopes Padres hanging on to the last playoff spot.
But the Giants are right there only a game and
a half back. We've seen what they did already with
the actually does something. That's how he played first base
for the first time, and we'll see how that goes.

(29:01):
And then the Reds like I mentioned, who have been
rumored for a reunion with Eugenio, who you're interested in.
As we're talking the.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
I mean, Brian Cashman has put it out there like
that he wants to get four to five players to
relieve one starter and one infielder, which I can see
him maybe packaging another infielder because Volpe is just god
awful right now. Man, as much as he makes some
good plays, but that's what short stops doing. They make

(29:34):
good plays, you know. And but when you got eighteen
errors and it's just you know, they're just like textbook
throws to first and you're bouncing it to a Rice.
I mean, we're not putting Goldie on the mound as
much because Rice he has one of the top velocities

(29:55):
in batting, so we keep him in there just to
you know, yesterday he saved our saved our asses by
hitting a home run in the bottom of the night,
in the bottom of the ninth. You know, we actually
won that game, unless it becomes a major comeback, man,
like it stopped us from getting swept again from Toronto.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Yeah, we're starting. We're not There's still a lot of
baseball left, but we're very very quickly closing in on
less than two months left in the season. I mean, what,
we're one hundred and two games in, Yeah, only sixty left.
I mean, you're starting to I saw this that the

(30:37):
so the Rangers. It was hard for me to believe
it was true at first, because they've just felt like
they've been doddling for the whole season. Over their last
over the Rangers last fourteen series, so a large stretch,
large large stretch. The Rangers have won ten of those,

(31:00):
have lost three and split one. Right, they're right there,
but just had never.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Been again over that home.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
And we had talked about how bad their record were
in games where they could get back to five hundred. Yeah,
and maybe finally breaking through, Uh, to now be two
games over five hundred, maybe that can serve as some
kind of launching point. But uh, this time, let's see
eight days from now, so that would be it'll be
next Thursday, will be the trade deadline, twenty second here. Yeah,

(31:35):
so we'll have next week we'll be finishing our NFC
division previews. We'll do NFC West on Monday, NFC East
on Wednesday. But we'll definitely have to squeeze in some
some more baseball talk besides just the Yankee minute, because hopefully, like.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
What was it he had five home runs in the
last seven or was it seven home runs the last
five games or something something ridiculous hot, He's just he's
he's scorching, and like they're gonna hold him to the
very end if they're gonna trade him. Now, they're like now,
they're like should we keep them? Blah blah blah, And

(32:16):
I'm like, man, Diamondbacks, you know they ran they went
to the series with y'all, Yeah, twenty three. Yeah, but
that was kind of didn't everybody get hurt in l A. Yeah,
that was a bit of a I wouldn't say a fluke,
but had easy path.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah, they got they got served some favors early with
the matchups. But yeah, we'll see, we'll see, we'll see
what both our teams do. A little bit of Spurs
news before we get into the main segment, specifically going
back to our ongoing I won't call it debate, our

(32:58):
ongoing differing projections for the Spurs going into next season.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
The Vegas up the wind to so they opened at
forty one and a half, and.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
I thought even that was a little crazy, but I
you know, five hundred, Sure they're gonna forty one and
forty one, And I said, you.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Got thinking of death. The problem we're gonna have is
which people are gonna fit best with, Like like what
what squad do you want to put out there? And
which pieces do you want to like pick that? Like
Pop had that problem back during our winning days where
it's like we're mixing matching, we don't know where we

(33:43):
need the bench five coming in? You know who which
which squad worked the best with this? Of course Manu
worked best with Tiago, you know, So like right now,
I see that's our problem. And much talent, yeah, having
a little of having a little too much talent. And
if you saw that we added ex thunder Warriors sharpshooter

(34:07):
Lyndy Waters, the third.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Former Oklahoma state kid. He's it was interesting to me
because before that he was announced today or at least
it's being reported that they have signed him, not only
signed him, but given him a guaranteed one year deal.
So he takes the final roster spot. He will be
the fourteenth, which is you have to have fourteen, and.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
He's he's just a spot up shooter shooter thirty three
point shooter.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
The other name, though, they were able to get that
summer league phenom David Jones Garcia on a two way deal,
meaning he's going to continue to develop over in Austin
and they can call him over when they need him
if they have injuries or if you know, they make
any kind of move and need additional depth or whatnot.

(34:58):
That one, it surprised me that he only got a
two way and even if it wasn't going to the Spurs,
there wasn't another team out there that saw what he
did at Summer league and offer a guaranteed, yeah, a
roster spot.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
You'd be good. If anybody else watched some of this
summer league, he was first. He was all NBA or
all Summer league team. Where I thought, I was watching
Summer League and it was like Sacramento and I saw
Fox out there, and it was just a rerun, rerun
of the Cup, Like I think that what was it
twenty twenty two when the Sacramento was hot? Oh yeah,

(35:34):
when the Fox was.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Still looking at how fast your your fortune can change
in the NBA. If you were a Kings fan, you
were looking like, dude, we got young Sabonis. We got
young Daron Fox. We got a core to build around.
We're already a playoff team. Hoarder is hitting every three,
Keegan Murray looks like he might be a future All Star.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
And now you have DeMar de Rosen and Zach Lavine.
So have fun with that.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Know it has gone up. It's up to forty three
and a half. Now the Spurs over under according to Vegas.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
I stick by my story, so forty five.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Here's the above. Here's the rundown of the West. Obviously
Oklahoma City's first, which they are in a class of
their own, and Vegas believes so too. Vegas has their
over under it sixty two and a half. That's insane.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Sixty two and a half. Tibet, Tibet on a team.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Almost sixty three lose less than twenty games, Yes, that
would be nineteen losses.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
Yeah, that's that's crazy. And they, I mean they could
but like with this with the West being tougher like
they did. They they got sixty eight last year, right,
maybe they were close to seventy. Yeah, sixty I think
it was sixty eight on them. So it was like,
but the West is getting stronger and then now you've
got Luca recruiting. He's got Marcus Smart and the aging

(37:01):
corpse of we'll see what that's defense. That's defense, and
he can run the point, you know what I'm saying.
And he's got championship experience.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
So Lakers, you bring them up the Vegas forty seven
and a half wins. Yeah, significant gap between still got Lebron, Yeah,
still got you got Luke Luca. Now you've got at
least a guy who has been a defensive Player of
the Year before the last guard to win Defensive Player
of the Year.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Actually, m h.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Elsewhere in the West, obviously, the Rockets got better. They're
fifty four and a half, Nuggets got better, they're fifty
three and a half. Timber Wolves have made back to
back Western Conference finals. They're fifty and a half. And
then the Warriors at forty seven and a half. That's
a lot of respect for Steph and Draymond and a
lot of hope that year two with Jimmy Butler is smoother,

(37:56):
more chemistry than just the last two months of this season.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
With I don't ever wish an injury, but I predict
I predict an injury, you know, like, yeah, I feel
like that that team just I mean, well, here they're
just getting old and just to try to keep up
with these young guns, try to keep up with Oklahoma, Houston.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
You think Golden State's getting old? Can I interest you
in the Los Angeles Clippers?

Speaker 1 (38:20):
So I have the dude, I was like, I totally
forgot to send this to LG. Look at this meme.
This was probably one of my favorite memes in the world.
Oh yeah, funk Nation. I don't know if you can
see that one. Everyone's seen the memes.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
The same content gets recycled to everybody online. Nothing's original.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
That one was that one got me. Like you said
Monday night.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
That that team finishes below the Spurs in the Western
Conference standings.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
I stick by my story.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
So Vegas disagrees, but it's close. Vegas has them at
forty six and a half and the Spurs at forty
three and a half. But more interesting to me, that
is the team that's the closest.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
To the Spurs. Okay, so they have seven that would
be eighth, eighth.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
Yeah, they had Clippers projected seventh, and then Spurs projected eight,
and then this one. I understand Memphis being forty and
a half because you trade Desmond Bane to Orlando now
Triple J Jaron Jackson Junior having the injury, who knows
how long he's gonna miss. They still have the Grizzlies

(39:34):
at forty and a half, which is.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Ahead of Let's give Moran a lot of credits, a lot.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
And it's also again it's giving Morent a lot of
credit for forty and a half, and it's giving Anthony
Davis no credit because Vegas has the Mavericks at thirty
nine and a half. I couldn't believe Bartlett told me
that today is like, you know, the MAVs are lower
than the Spurs and the Ones.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Again, I don't wish that injury. I just predict an injury.
Well the hed injury is Yeah, that's like predicting what
time noon is. Yeah, like is water wet?

Speaker 2 (40:04):
That's correct, Yeah, that's inevitable that's going to happen. But yeah,
I mean there's your that's your Theoretically, according to Vegas,
those are your ten play in.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
The West is it's tight, brutally brutally tight. It's tight
like Ado Cartridge in a endo.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Or about like a b YU freshman joking up talking
about the Kings, they would be the next They're the
next team below the Mavericks. They would be that first
team looking out on the play in which I think
the gap between Sacramento and Dallas.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Dan they gave Phoenix.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
No, well, they traded everybody I know, so so who
do they got go? Phoenix has fifth worst odds in
the West. So from the bottom of the West up Jazz,
then Suns, then Pelicans, Uh, then Trailblazers and Kings. So
those would be your five teams on the outside looking in.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
They got Jazz is the worst. No, they're gonna be
the worst. Oh my god, they're gonna be the worst.
But all of this, poor Mormon Nation.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
All of this to say, Vegas is looking squarely at
the idea of a mav Spurs playing game. Just just
by the numbers estimations of where they think this is
gonna fall, we might actually get a I think.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
They're gonna go. I think they're gonna finish six, forty
five and six.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
So you'd have them, you passing the Clippers, yes, and
then Warriors are Lakers, Yes, Warriors Warriors definitely. You think
Lakers finish higher than Warriors? Yeah, yeah, it's a I
don't know, man, we talked about it. A.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
Speaking of injuries, Lebron is a he's a specimen. He
doesn't get injured. Luca is gonna have.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
Lucas a walking top six team though. Yeah, I mean
that's ever since his rookie year.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
That maybe Lebron gets makes some actually do a pre
season workout so he's not lagging down the field the
top four team if he actually conditions.

Speaker 2 (42:08):
Yeah, we talked about it a lot on Andy's show today,
and you know, really looking at these numbers of where
you Vegas isn't usually when they're wrong, they're not wrong
by much. Yeah, unless it's catastrophic injury where a guy
is out the whole season or something, but it's not.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
It's not too hard to be like, Okay, Spurs added
all this talent. They were they kind of you know,
they kind of what you call it, they added talent,
but it's all young.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Yeah, And usually in the NBA, when you have a
collection of a bunch of young dudes, that doesn't necessarily
translate as well to total wins as it does. But
we were veterans that have less talent maybe but have
played have experience in.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
The Wimby's Wu Tang Wimby that that's gonna be my
new mantra.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
I think it's more like more like maw Wimby stalinist.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
Limits want he wants to play. He wants to he
wants to be the Tim Duncan now man. He wants
to mold these people into his team, and he wants
to create a dynasty. And I'm I'm I'm here for it.
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
Let him cook, it's uh, let him cook, but also
keep him healthy because that all obviously it looks like
it's conditioning.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
Is he's beefed up. He's definition. He's got like the
admiral shoulder, like where you can see the shoulder with
the muscle. Right.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
Go look at Giannis his first three years in the league,
his first year versus year three, he wasn't what he
is now. And I don't think Wimby will ever get
that or even look at Durant when Durant but you know,
when Durant even was in college at Texas, there was
much less definition than there was by his third year

(44:02):
in the league. Yeah, but I bring all I brought
all that up or wrote it down because you know,
Monday and throwaway in the lightning round when you said
you had Spurs finishing ahead of Clippers. I was curious
to see exactly where, because I've been following the Spurs
over underline, but I hadn't. I didn't care about the
Clippers until we talked about.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
It on Monday.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
But that's as good a time as any. Let's get
into the whole reason we're here tonight. We got to
stay on schedule. Let's get into the main segment.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
Because we have our.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
NFC divisions to jump back into tonight with the NFC North.

Speaker 1 (44:43):
And if I told you, arguably, what was it before
the season, the toughest division.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
And expected wins among the division, even to the point
where who do you think Vegas likes more?

Speaker 1 (44:59):
The Vikings or the Bears. Man, you got JJ McCarthy
coming in.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
Cold, because we always start with the Vegas predictions, which
he's got too top.

Speaker 1 (45:12):
I would say he's got to top ten receivers. I
always going to put Addison in, like number ten, Jefferson,
number one, maybe two.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
It's either Jefferson or Chase and yeah.

Speaker 1 (45:25):
And they can sit there and keep them keep them
the pocket clean, which they did for Donald revergence his career.
And did you know Donald is getting paid more on
the cap than Rock Party. Really yeah, yeah, his deals,
so yeah, yeah, that makes more sense. But I would

(45:48):
say they gotta go Vikings. Don't tell me they went
Bears trick question. They're both eight and a half, which
even that shocked me. Vikings got fourteen wins last year, yep,
and they got him losing but granted six more.

Speaker 2 (46:07):
They are turning to basically a rookie quarterback, a kid
who was injured all of that so he didn't practice.

Speaker 1 (46:13):
In the preseason. He looked he looked damn good.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
He looked like he was going to be the starter
over Donald.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
He was going to be the starter over Donald. Like
that is insane. Who else did they lose? Did they
just lose all their defense? I didn't hear any big
moves defensive wise.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Now, not a whole whole lot. It was, uh, we'll
attackle team by team here. But the overall Lions. The
Lions number is low, ten and a half, but it's
buoyed by the fact that Vegas thinks the division is
a lot better overall this year than it was. Yeah
last year when the Lions got fifteen, but Lions ten

(46:52):
and a half, Packers nine and a half and then
Vikings Bears each eight and a half.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
So yeah, and they all so they're also going against
the a f C uh North. No, No, not the
a f C H. But it's with the Steelers and
dirty a F Yeah. I was like, I was trying

(47:22):
not to think of Miami and you know Buffalo and East. Yeah. Yeah,
so and they got the n f C East. So
I mean, those are those aren't too shoppy? I mean,
don't the only throwaway games we have are the Browns,
Brown and the Giants. Other than that, those are gonna
be tough games. And then you also have a tough division. Yeah,

(47:46):
so that's why I can see why the numbers are down,
but I don't see how the Vikings are eight and
a half. It's pretty shocking.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
That's shocking, especially so last year three playoff teams, Detroit
in Miami from this division, zero playoff wins.

Speaker 1 (48:04):
Their motivating. I feel like, that's right, they're coming back
with the chip on their shoulder.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
And then Vegas gives them, you know, doesn't even Detroit
won fifteen games last year and you got there over
under as the second tier behind what you consider elite. Yeah,
the guy, you know, Kansas City who are the other
ones that had eleven and a half that we've covered
so far, there's been a couple off top of the Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (48:25):
Yeah, Vegas loves Buffalo because the weak division and they
don't have a really good uh you know, they're not
playing the crop, the cream of the crop.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
But that's how divisions, that's how this division. You know,
they've It kind of feels like Vegas is like, look,
they're all we've they're all going to be splitting season
series with each other.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
The last two games of the vikings of the because
we're on the Lions, right, yeah, all right, the last
two games of the Lions Lions vikings on Netflix. Oh
there you go. Yeah, somebody Christmas and then it's Lions
and then it's Lions and Bears at the very end.

(49:07):
And I think Bear is gonna be trying to squeak
into the wild card. And that's if Kayla will Williams
lives up to anything that he was supposed to be
and that he thought he was gonna be because he
wanted guaranteed money, he wanted half a billy. Hey, can't,
can't can't hurt? Can I can?

Speaker 2 (49:26):
I just ask the Bears are dumb enough to say.

Speaker 1 (49:28):
Yes, Deshaun asked, and you know, put his pen on
a bunch of.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Well allegedly, I don't remember there being actual charges. The
You think you think it's a three playoff team division
again this year, I don't. I think it's I think
it's back to two. Yeah, I mean because I think
they're gonna beat up on each other more than they
did last year.

Speaker 1 (49:55):
It's gonna because they're playing to their schedules are just
gonna be too difficult, man, you know what I'm saying.
And I feel like and they're playing a they're playing
the AOC North, someone's gonna get hurt. Yeah, They're playing
some tough defenses and someone's going to come across the
middle and just take one of them out, man, you

(50:15):
know what I'm saying. And like, I mean, Detroit's got
Jamison and Laporta and of course Saint Brown, which you
know he'll he'll play through what do he play through?
A floating rib? Like? Was it like something like a
rib was disliked and he just kept playing for another
seven game. Seen any of the interviews with his dad,

(50:38):
His dad is always intense.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
Yeah, I could see why his sons are tough like that.

Speaker 1 (50:44):
Yeah, he's like, I got every player that was drafted
wide receiver, drafted them for me, and I say their names, and.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
Also talked about preserving his genetic athleticism by only dating
a certain similar sect.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
A similar race. If I see a white girl come
through the.

Speaker 2 (51:04):
Storm, Yeah, I think there were hard there were some
there were some hard rules, some lines you didn't cross
in the Saint Brown.

Speaker 1 (51:13):
Telling me is wrong. Tell me look look at his
Look at his guy gotta thoroughbreds.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
We'll start with the Lions. Uh, the Lions have a
bigger I think they have a taller task ahead of
them than a lot of people are talking about. Because
the most recent example I could think of, you know, Lions,
obviously big Dan Dan Campbell's still there, but lost this
Ben Johnson, offensive coordinator in the division, head coach at Chicago. Now, Uh,

(51:47):
a guy who was the hottest coaching candidate for the
last two years. Obviously, looking at Detroit's offense, since he's
been there, it's been pretty damn good.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
And then I think Jerry Goff is such a veteran
quarterback and now that like a new offensive offensive coordinator
is going to be like so Bear with.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Because the other side. And then Aaron Glenn, defensive coordinator
got the Jets job. I you know, Aaron Glenn was awesome.
He's a great defensive coordinator. He I think is going
to do great things eventually.

Speaker 1 (52:22):
With the Jets. He learned from Dan Campbell at both
the text A and m Maggie's too.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
The Ben Johnson loss, as much of a veteran as
golf is now that that one will be the more
interesting replacement for me because I think golf. Golf is good.
Golf is was a one to one pick. Obviously, it's
not that golf is good. How about that analysis? No,
but Ben Johnson found ways to make all of a sudden,

(52:51):
Jared Goff closer to a top five quarterback in the
league than an average quarterback in the league. And I
think we might see some regression there. And the most
recent example when the Eagles won the Super Bowl the
first time or not one, I think it was when
they went to the Super Bowl. They ended up losing

(53:12):
their offensive and defensive coordinators after that Super Bowl run
and the next year they missed the playoffs. Yeah, so
I think there's still there's other examples that that was.

Speaker 1 (53:23):
Such a wild, like weird thing that they missed the
playoffs because like they were bad.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
Bad, right, they they lost like success and they ended
up firing both of those coordinators that they had hired
to replace their guys. And then they got things turned
around and Sirianni saved his job. I think Detroit is
gonna have a hell. It's one thing to replace Ben Johnson,
it's another thing to replace Ben Johnson.

Speaker 1 (53:44):
And Aaron Glenn. The fact that they were those were
head coaching. Who they places Ben Johnson with? Anybody knows.
I believe it was a wasn't an internal So they're like,
you have shot McVeigh one of the greatest offensive mines
like Kyle Shanahan and some other like you know in

(54:06):
all his little cronies like oh buddy over Miami. But
it might have just been too much for golf. So
I think they simplified it. Use what golf can do
and what he couldn't do, and they molded an offense
around it, but they.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
Took out the options for him to make catastrophic mistakes exactly.
So John Morton is the new guy who has has
previous experience with Detroit. He wasn't with them most recently.
He was the passing game coordinator for the Broncos the
last two years.

Speaker 1 (54:42):
So I think they's so the internal hire shows me
that they're gonna run the same offense. It's not gonna
be no, that's what I'm saying. I mean, he was
internal in twenty twenty one, but that wasn't even when
Ben Johnson was there.

Speaker 2 (54:56):
Yeah, so I don't think you're gonna see a lot
of radical But also if you're going up, the guy
we're talking about that they're trying to replace is also
a head coach of a team within the division, so
he know you can't you gotta do something different plays,
which was Ben Johnson's specialty. But I all in all,

(55:18):
I think they're I think you would agree the Lions
are still the class of this division, but I think it's.

Speaker 1 (55:25):
We might disagree with you on that one. Well we're
we got them coming up next.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
The I think when you the Lions are still on paper,
especially getting Aiden Hutchinson back, who was on that injury
was terrible against Dallas last year as the game was
already a blowout. Getting him back, and how quickly he
regains that potential defensive of the defensive player of the

(55:54):
year form that he had last year before the injury.
I think comparing them specifically to Green Bay, I think
I would still rather have the Lions offensive unit. I
would still rather have their their defensive and I would
still rather have.

Speaker 1 (56:12):
And Hutchinson on each side. Right man, they're gonna go
head hunt. They also re signed the safety I can't
think of his name.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
He was. He's the highest paid safety in NFL history, Joseph. Yes, Kirby, Yeah, Kirby.
Joseph resigned him as well, so the Lions didn't. The
only thing the Lions lost were their coordinators on both
sides of the ball, which is huge, But that's still
a top.

Speaker 1 (56:35):
Five offense defense d Campbell's that's Dan Campbell's defense.

Speaker 2 (56:39):
In my mind, it's Dan Campbell's personality on defense.

Speaker 1 (56:43):
Yeah, that gets them ramped up like he's a defense.
It wasn't any defensive specialist tight end.

Speaker 2 (56:48):
No, no, no, he was tight end offensive but not
like a not like a play scheme drawing plays in
the sand kind of offensive.

Speaker 1 (56:57):
Guy, more like blocking type thing exactly.

Speaker 2 (57:00):
More of like an O line passing game coordinator. But
I'm not drawing the plays. You know, this is how
you get this is how you get the blocks off
and stuff like that. I think he was and Jamar
Gibbs being the number Jamar Gibbs being the number what
third quarterback? Yeah, third running back right ahead of Beijon,
like we were talking about Monday night.

Speaker 1 (57:21):
I don't agree with it. I don't agree with it.

Speaker 2 (57:23):
Still to have it top five? Would you rather have
Jamar Gibbs or Josh Jacobs the Packers running back? If
I'm going fantasy, if you're trying to win football games.

Speaker 1 (57:36):
I mean, stick Josh Jacobs in. I guess he's not
as good. It just has way more break. Yeah, he's
got he's got big play yeah, yeah, because he can
catch the ball. It's it's I think it's close.

Speaker 2 (57:48):
I think it's definitely. I think it's definitely Detroit, Green
Bay and then everybody else then Minnesota and Chicago.

Speaker 1 (57:57):
But I.

Speaker 2 (57:59):
I just I just still feel like Detroit, despite losing
coordinators and the history we've seen how much that.

Speaker 1 (58:05):
Until until you de thrown them, they're the top team. Yeah.
I and the two years in a row division winners,
number one seed last.

Speaker 2 (58:13):
Year and you know, yeah, and hosted a playoff game
that that was.

Speaker 1 (58:19):
A shootout and you kind of which I did see
the end of Quarterbacks and that had the playoff game
with the Commanders. Oh nice, and it showed like, man,
you know, Golf tried to do what he tried to
do in La, try to instead of taking the shore
the easy pass of the porter who's wide open, that

(58:40):
can get you that first down and maybe get you
about five or six seven yac you know what I'm saying.
He tried to fit a ball into Jamis in between
high low coverage and they were a little hot, a
little too long, and the safety picked it off, you know,
and it but it was a shootout. It was like
I forgot how exciting it was that was. That was

(59:02):
a crazy game.

Speaker 2 (59:03):
I don't think I think Lions win less regular season
games but win a playoff game this year.

Speaker 1 (59:11):
I think they're still especially I don't think they're gonna
be number one seedson, right, I think there's not going
to be. They're going to eat on a wild card team.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
I think so, Yeah, I think so so Lions ten
and a half. I still say the over, but closer
to eleven than the fifteen games they won last year.

Speaker 1 (59:29):
Yeah, I'd say over eleven or twelve.

Speaker 2 (59:31):
Yeah, that feels like a lock. And then Packers. Of
course you mentioned Packers. I think you're spot on. I
think that'll be their biggest competition within the division. So
fun fact about the Packers. The age twenty seven season
of Brett Favre, they won a super Bowl. Yeah, age

(59:54):
twenty seven season.

Speaker 1 (59:55):
Of Aaron Rodgers. They want to win a super Bowl. Yeah,
Jordan Love, it's not gonna want.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Entering his age twenty seven season this year. So if
you're a superstitious bloke, not gonna happen. Look, I'm not
gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
That's that's enough evidence for me to at least lose
a cool hundred on it. I'll take those odds.

Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Yeah, there was like great odds, but like, how many
people do you think? How many Packers fans gonna bloat that?
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
Oh yeah, they they'll move that line. Yeah, Vegas has
Packers at nine and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
I at least start out the season with the Lions.
That's gonna be a good game, gonna be great.

Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
There's so many good division games to start Week one
of the season.

Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
Good they play the Cowboys? Uh? Game five or is
it one? There's a game five. Yeah, no, game four.

Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
It's in Dallas though, right in Dallas. Yeah, I didn't
think they go to Dallas, goes to Lambeau And that's.

Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
Just such a hard schedule. Like I mean, they gave
tell you the Gimmes is like Lions, Commanders, Browns, Cowboys,
you know, and then they got to go to the Bengals, Steelers,
like Eagles. Like. Man, dude, that's the reason why these
numbers are so low. Man. They get they're playing some

(01:01:15):
tough teams and to stay healthy playing all these tough
teams is going to be a task.

Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
Yeah, I think the the Packers obviously, you give Jordan
Love all that money, what two hundred and twenty million
dollar deal in the extension, You're you're expecting.

Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
Him to not blow it in the playoffs against the Niners.

Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
One, so not to blow it, but two to also
be a big reason you are able to develop a
number one wide receiver because right now they've got so
much depth in the wide receiver room without having a
proven number one guy. They draft the Texas kid Matthew

(01:01:58):
Golden in the first round. Also took Saving Williams in
the third round, so only added depth to that room,
and I think a Packer fan would tell you they
are really hoping Matthew Golden, despite I think he's wearing
number fifteen, which is unstable for a wide receiver. That's
gonna be weird to get used to for a while.

Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
Number fifteen. I'm trying to think of someone else who
wore number fifteen. Maybe maybe I'm just Golden and Golden tape.
They're going back, like, didn't I thought he wore number
fifteen as well?

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Yeah, I think he were No, he wore like number five.
Oh no, it was even worse. Matthew Golden's wearing number
twenty two. It's even weirder than that's what it is.
I was like fifteen, it's not that. I was like,
that's yeah, twenty two. Yeah, that's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
A running back number. It's a cornerback number. I'm like,
I'm like, which one is the cornerback? Yeah? Yeah, wow wow.
But they're hoping that someone between the they're gonna try
to use him like Debo or something something like that.
I mean, he's I don't think he's got that not body,
not nearly not Debo level, But who does that? You know?
Really like deebo is a freak like that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Yeah, between the trio of Matthew Golden, will Savian Williams,
who they drafted, and then Jaden Reid, who was, you know,
really starting to break out last year. Potentially they number
one in depth chart. That doesn't surprise me because he's proven,
because he's he's the most proven guy they have on

(01:03:23):
the roster. It also wouldn't surprise me if Jordan Love
and and Matthew Golden are.

Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
You know, more of a PPR two pair. Yeah, to
get like the short yardage and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Yeah, because that's what Golden was so good at at Texas.
He was a massive safety blanket for Quinn last year.
Of course, mentioned Josh Jacobs. I just when you look
at that Packers offense, there's a bunch of players I
really like. But is is Jordan Love top five?

Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Is Josh Jacob's top five? Are any of those receivers
top five?

Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
I gave Josh Jacob's top ten.

Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
Of course top ten. Yeah, but they they lack for
as good of a team as they are, and as
good as they were last year, they lacked that real elite,
top tier offensive talent, And I.

Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
Think this is gonna be a building year for him
too as well, you know, just because with all the
new faces, and I mean I'm looking at the I'm
looking at the defense. Nothing is yelling at I mean,
the guy's Xavier McKinney, which was a that's a hell
of a pickup, but you know that doesn't do anything
in the trenches. I mean, you got what was it,

(01:04:38):
Clark van Ness, Why Wyatt, Garrett Seawan? Yeah, like none
of those names jump out at me. You know.

Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
No, There's That's where I say, like, I think the Packers.

Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
Seems like they get beat up on the run.

Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
Yeah, yeah, I think the the Packers are going to
be kind of exactly what they were last year. Really saw,
really hard to beat, but just still lacking that explosive
weapon on offense that opens everything else up.

Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
I was like if I was playing the Packers, man,
I mean, look, Detroit's got Jamar Gibbs, you got Chicago.
Did they draft the running back or they are they
still having Swift? Is their number one? I forget who's
the number one? Over his show?

Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
The Bears took the they took the tight end. Yeah,
they took the first round weapon for Caleb, But I.

Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
Mean you got Gibbs was in the division, the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
Vikings, they got two of the top ten, one guy
who's top two at receiver and another guy who's top
ten at receiver. And that's where I say, that's what
green Bay laughed.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
That's why they that's what they got McKinney, is because
they wanted to go against because they knew that they
had to deal with the receivers and that they're gonna
make Caleb Williams throw the ball. Well, because they're they're
forcing it. Man, Like Chicago hasn't had a QB in
for since Jake Cutler, if you want to count that,
but there were some years there, Brandon Marshall, you know,

(01:06:12):
but you know they're they're dying for that QB. And
so I think they mean Chicago. Yeah, yeah, So that's
why I think like green Bay showed up some of
its secondary you know, and didn't really pay a lot
of you know, didn't draft real big on the defensive
ends or defensive tackle.

Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
Now they clearly, i mean green Bay clearly was addressing
trying to find that top tier offensive weapon. With two
of their first three picks being wide receiver. I think
the nine and a half number sounds incredibly fair. Off
the top of my head, you're saying under under. But okay,
you say under, do you still have them finishing second

(01:06:52):
in the division? No, okay, Well that makes things even
more interesting. I I think I kind of agree. I
think they are a nine win team. I think they're
nine to eight because the bottom.

Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
Thing there's a seven eight win seven eight win, Like,
I mean, they're gonna have troubles. The rookies are gonna
have troubles. Everything's faster in the NFL. Man, these receivers
are gonna have corners. God help them if they run
across the middle playing the plane the people they're playing
the NFC East in the AFC North, they got help
them if they run across the middle and don't see

(01:07:23):
one of those linebackers or safeties coming at them to
like take off their head.

Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Yeah, I you know, I think I still like the Packers.
I still trust the Packers more than I trust JJ
McCarthy or Caleb Williams.

Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
And so it's not it's not trusting the quarterback. I
trust some Packers, That's what I'm saying. No, I trust
the whole team in the vikings that I feel like
they're gonna be number two.

Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Okay, Well let's get into the Vikings then, because there
I had them next head of the Bears on the list. Uh,
the facto rookie year for JJ McCarthy, the the same
offensive structure that led to the Sam Darnold career revival.
We've talked about the weapons already. Tell me why you

(01:08:10):
have the Vikings ahead of the Packers, because I still.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
JJ McCarthy was. He was great at Michigan, but he wasn't.

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
I never looked at him and thought that's a future
All Pro NFL quarterback and that might be on me,
but I didn't see that.

Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
I saw he was gonna beat out Sam Donald last year.

Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
And then Donald has a great season before fizzling, and
they still have faith to let Donald walk and.

Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
Turn to JJ. I just the one the one word defense. Yeah,
and that's where your defense is better. They have a
better defensive line, They have Hardgrave anchoring it right up
the middle. That's a pro boy like first team first teamer.

Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
You know what they remind me of I just thought
about it. They remind me of last year's Denver Yeah
with Bo Nicks.

Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
Yeah, like, and then.

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
Quarterback just don't make mistakes. We'll make the reads quick
easy for you. We've got weapons for you. Just get
it in their hands and the defense will do the rest.

Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
Just throw a quick throw out like it's like a
run play to put Jefferson Addison, or do a pump
fake see if that corner bites and just throw them
over the top. You know what I'm saying, Like, get
the ball out of your hand within two seconds, and
then you still got a good and then you still
got got.

Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
Solid Aaron Jones still running the ball, So you're getting
some kind of consistent rushing.

Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
And short and Jordan Mason coming back from the Niners,
who legitimately was the best running back we had. I
forgot they they got Jordan Mason. Okay, Yeah, he's a beast.
He he he likes his yack. He likes his yack,
don't we all?

Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
You know what I'm saying, Pierre, If you're asking, uh, yeah,
you might, you might be able.

Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
To talk me in. I'm always they're gonna run the
ball for They're gonna be a run first team and
defense led, defensive lead. They're going to try to control
the clock and they're going to try to make big
plays with their big receiver where they're big play receivers.
I say, they remind me of Denver because they got Hockinson.
Yeah that helps too, they got Hockinson. Ted In. Man,

(01:10:14):
you're telling me they're not gonna they're They're definitely gonna
be number two. I'm telling they won fourteen games for
a reason with Sam Donald.

Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
Yeah, that's that's the big thing, the fact that they
were able to get fourteen wins out of sad And.

Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
Imagine if J. J. McCarthy is better than Sam Donald,
that's you're talking me into. That's kind of scary, man,
you're talking me into It's kind of scary, dude. I
don't I'm not as.

Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
Convicted as I was when I wrote these notes because
my notes are pretty down on the vikings looking at
I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
I know, I because because you were just tunnel visioned
on Jjo, your tunnel vision j and you didn't realize
they got a solid running back core.

Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
So yeah, they got a one to two punch. It's
the the bruises, the Mason trade. I forgot because I'm like,
I like Aaron Jones. He's solid, but he's Aaron Jones
is the guy that if you if it's third and
he only needs if it's third and two, he'll get
you fifteen touches.

Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
That's all he needs. And if you can give him,
if you can get if you can get a twelve
and twelve touches for both the running backs, one of
them is going to break one hundred and then all
those like that just brings the linebackers in. That brings
the safeties in, and then you got the two of
the best to ever do it, cutting up that, cutting

(01:11:30):
it up in the backfield. You know, Yeah, you're I'm
telling you you think. I think it's going to be
a repeat to where it's just such the only thing
I don't have them. I was like, I would say
it'd be like a repeat of last year. It came
down to the last game fourteen and two. It was

(01:11:50):
against Detroit versus the Vikings, you know, which has never
heard of for the one seed and for the division,
you know, but the I will say that rookie quarterback
and the strength of schedule, I think the edge goes
to the veteran of golf. And that's why that's the
only reason why I have them winning the division. And

(01:12:11):
you're really really high on the Vikings, and I think
they're solid, solid, man. I just the.

Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
You know, even Jordan Love.

Speaker 1 (01:12:21):
The only thing is if it's tunnel vision, if JJ
just really yeah, then yeah, then we're talking. But he
looked good during preseason before he got hurt, for sure,
but looked good in But they up there, they up
their running game. So because to take pressure off them,
which I was like.

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Helps a rookie, good job, well the pseudo rookie quarterback
technically McCarthy in.

Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
The recher freshman, the looking at just the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
If JJ McCarthy pops, if Caleb Williams now that he
finally has an offensive mind head coach and a guy
that actually not isn't isn't just offensive minded, but is
actually potentially one of the best offensive minds in the
entire league as his head coach. If you have Caleb
Williams take a leap as a former first overall pick,

(01:13:16):
JJ McCarthy steps in and shows that he's better than
Sam Darnold, Jordan Love does takes any kind of step
forward to get closer to justifying that two hundred and
twenty million dollar contract, and then golf at the top
of the pyramid.

Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
Yeah, is there a better there's a lower season for golf.
There's a lower ceiling for golf. Yeah, a higher ceiling
for Carty in love, McCarthy in love Caleb. Until I
see a Bears quarterback do good.

Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
I think Caleb Williams has both the highest ceiling and
the lowest floor. Yeah, I could see him being the
in the division. We said that about Detroit. We're never
going to see Detroit do anything. And they were so
close to being the Niners and then going to the
super Bowl, you know, only two years ago. And they
were the number one seed last year.

Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
So every street, you know what I'm saying, So this
might until I see it, I'm not going to bet on.

Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
This division might not have the top tier quarterback talent,
But show me a division that has four better like
a group of four better quarterbacks. Though, like top to bottom,
every team, there's one team in every division that would
love to have one of these four guys.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
You get what I'm saying. Yeah, I mean, who's Seattle's Donald?

Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:14:43):
Donald? I mean Kyler? Is Kyler better than I think?

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
I think you'd rather have Kyler right now until.

Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
We see what is Then you got Burrow Lamar that's
the closest.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
But there are Sodgers, and then whoever's playing for Cleveland,
so they're they're out immediately.

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
Eight eight quarterbacks. That's what I'm saying. They got. I
might have Kirk Cousins by the end of the.

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
Very well, they might might be tomorrow. They have better
top tier talent, but the worst quarterback in that division.
That's what I'm saying. This is kind of the division
of mid just looking like not mid, but solid, I
should say solid, better than the above average, just solid.
These guys are on the fringes of being top ten,

(01:15:34):
top five guys, but the gap is wide.

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
They're not average, you know, but like they're just right
above that. Yeah, and then you got Golf, which I
put above another tier because he did take a step.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
You know, Golf is still clearly the best of the
four and separated himself from the rest, no, no doubt,
no question. Uh, let's knock the Bears out real fast
before we get to the life. Try not to go
too long tonight, so we will speed upo my Bears
shirt for this that the Ben Johnson is a great,

(01:16:14):
great Hire, but as good as he it was as
a coordinator, we've yet to see. Obviously, this is his
first opportunity as a head coach. I think the question
comes down to is he did enough Dan Campbell rub
off on him. He's a fiery dude like Dan. Is

(01:16:35):
he very well could be that kind of motivating head
coach or is he more of the Cliff Kingsbury failed
experiment as head coach where it's like, man, this guy
is so good at calling play, so good at designing
offensive scheme, so good at getting the most out of
offensive weapons, but is a terrible head coach.

Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
Because we got to see they like, how do you
say his a doza? Oh yeah, yeah, a dona. He
was supposed to pop last year. DJ Moore got that
huge contract because he was killing it and then they
they just were they They didn't live up to the
hype last year. So if the coach Ben Johnson takes

(01:17:18):
Dan Campbell's energy and stuff like that and gets the most,
just like you said, out of them, that could be
a That could be a deadly one two punch with
a cole Comet, solid veteran. You know, I will get
you five yards with some yak. How about the kid?

Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
They took tenth overall the Michigan tight end, giving Caleb
Yes more than just a safety blanket a guy that
potentially could be.

Speaker 1 (01:17:44):
I think they're gonna run two tight ends all year.
That's gonna be their scheme because I mean they got
DeAndre Swift. He can pop, but like he's a fifteenth
in my book, I've got DeAndre maybe fifteenth maybe so
maybe yeah, yeah, but he's he has he does his
breakaway speed and he can catch. You know, I don't

(01:18:05):
have him fifteenth in a non PPR league, I'll tell
you that much. But they got Roasehawn Johnson behind him.
He's a banger, but you know he only needs like
less than ten touches a game. But if they get
those tight ends working with the over the top of
a DJ Moore and or doonz A he's the faster

(01:18:26):
one and DJ Moore going across the middle that and
they give Caleb some time in the pocket. He was
happy feet. So all last year he was his happy feet.

Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
The numbers, it wasn't just watching the games. They allowed
a league high sixty eight sacks last year, and because
of that, they went out. They get Jonah Jackson, the
offensive guard from the Rams, to get Joe Thuney, and
then Drew Dolman as well, so they get three brand
new offensive offensive line starters that they invested in. You

(01:19:00):
combine the much upgraded offensive line with the additional weapons
for Caleb and the biggest weapon they acquired as their
head coach, Ben Johnson.

Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
Yeah, and Loveland's like a George Kittle. He loves potentially
he will block. Yeah, he will block, and he loves
the block and he like and then he'll just cut
out and he's got amazing hands and amazing abilities after
the catch.

Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
I think you're right on the I think we're going
to see a lot of uh or could potentially see
a lot of two tight end sets.

Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
Yeah. I protection the third receiver in the death charts,
Luther Burden.

Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Yeah, the second round pick out of Missouri they took.

Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
So I mean, I don't see how much trust unless
he just has an amazing camp and amazing preseason, you know, I.

Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
Mean, he could he could, He honestly could turn out
to be the best receiver in the college Missouri.

Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
And he was a stud. He was just take me.
He didn't in the LSU wide receiver almost.

Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
The class, and that's usually a safe bet. No, Burden
didn't test as well at combine and Pro Day, but
you're talking about basically, if he had ran his forty
a tenth of a second faster, he would have Yeah,
like yeah, I mean I watching watching him last year

(01:20:20):
at Missouri. He looked like a first round wide receiver
and then the testing was a little It wasn't bad
at all. He was still a second round pick, but
he some guys jumped him because they had better pro days.
I think the Bear's got to steal with Burden. I'm
glad you brought him up.

Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
I forgot, but he's questionable, so I don't know what
injury he's battling. They have his havema as questionable, so
I know he's battling something. I didn't say that he
was on the peep, the puppulist or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
Yeah, there's so many dudes that are not going to
practice this first week of training camp.

Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
That'll be fine and in three weeks. But then going
to the defense of the Bear that they run a
four to three, which I love, Uh Montes sweat you
got doomby doomby come agday. That can't be how you

(01:21:16):
say right there with it? O d e y I
n g b o odaine bo.

Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
That's a name even if you spell it out loud,
I can't help you with.

Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
But then they got Gervin Dexter and Grady Jarrett. That's
just that is one of the top tier defensive lines.
They they shirt up their offensive line, so the trenches
are good and what that usually spells better season, you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
So, and then where a lot of games are one, Well,
you mentioned the defense to a new defensive coordinator, the
dude from the Saints, Dennis Allen there DC as well,
So I mean at least someone with a proven track
record as a defensive coordinator, someone that you can Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:22:05):
The Bears always count on them being, you know, defensively sound.
You know, that's always been their staple, like the Ravens
and some of the others like Tampa or it used
to be Tampa.

Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
But outside of last year, last year, yeah, I uh
still though, the fact that Vegas says eight and a
half for Chicago in a division that tough, that's a
lot a lot of faces.

Speaker 1 (01:22:30):
You want to you want to you want to hear
my hit to the shot. Green Bay is gonna be
last Bears gonna jump them for third?

Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
You know, that's one of those where it might not
be that might not be as radical as it sounds
first time hearing it.

Speaker 1 (01:22:49):
Yeah, I think Caleb takes a big jump because he's
not going to be happy feet running for his life
getting the league high in sacks. You got second year
receivers coming in, so they got work to come out.
They got a starting day one tight end, which they
even have him second on the depth chart. But you

(01:23:09):
know he's gonna be playing eighty tenth pick in the drag. Yeah,
he's gonna be playing eighty plus percent of the snaps.
And like I said, I guarantee they're gonna run a
two tight end formation and Dj Moore across the middle
of Douneze across the top. I mean, that's just classic football.

Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
So you have Lions first, still, Minnesota second, Chicago third,
Green Bay fourth. So do you have Chicago the numbers
eight and a half. Do you have Chicago still under
at eight and Green Bay under at seven?

Speaker 1 (01:23:44):
I got Chicago at eight, I got Green Bay at
six or seven. I'm like every time I sometimes I say,
the more I think about it, they just they paid
all that money for like what happens to a quarterback?
What happens to a team when the quarterback gets that
huge contract, they usually underperformed, you know. And the receivers

(01:24:06):
they don't have the weapons that either of the other
three teams have for receivers or a tight end or
tight ends.

Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
Then unless one of those draft picks pops.

Speaker 1 (01:24:19):
And what was it? And what what do we got?
We have Josh Jacobs, which is a beast at running back,
but there's no like, there's no one behind them that's
like worth the roses Roshan Johnson, Oh no, in Green
Bay and green Bay Yeah it's Roshan. So no, Rosan's
in Chicago. Rose. Who am I thinking? Who? I forget

(01:24:43):
who's behind But I yeah, because that's that's why I
said Chicago's because Roshan. I don't I like, you know,
he's U T, right, you went to U T. He's
just like a straightforward hit the whole running back. You
know what I'm saying, He's not going to do it.

Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
You're not getting a whole lot of shakes. Marshall Lloyd
is technically second on the depth chart for Green Bay.

Speaker 1 (01:25:04):
But it's Josh Jacobs. It's not a two back system.
He's a thirty carry a game guy. Give me him
on my fantasy team, But don't tell me that team
is gonna be winning. You know what I'm saying, man,
You know, I.

Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Think I think you've talked me into Minnesota being ahead
of green Bay the cap for the win. But I
don't think I can follow you off the cliff and
say Chicago's ahead.

Speaker 1 (01:25:31):
That's gonna be that's gonna be the that's gonna be
the deal breaker to watch for for this division.

Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Yeah, give me Lions over, Packers under, Vikings over. But
the Packers that under it's nine and a half, I
think they're I think they win nine. I think Vikings
win ten. Uh. And then I think the Bears are
under that eight and a half. I think they're they're
probably still.

Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
I think the Bears win nine, Packers win seven, and
the Vikings win eleven. We'll see not like a ten,
like a ten maybe.

Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
Yeah, I think the I think the rest of that division.

Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
And I got I got, I still got Detroit like
winning twelve or thirteen. You know, Yeah, I don't know, man.
They're just so sound, man, They're so sound.

Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
The rest of the divisions. He has gotten so much
more depth than they have last year.

Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
Watched that quarterbacks, So I'm going to watch it this weekend.
We're going to talk about it and see how handedly
they beat up on good teams. They handedly beat them up.

Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
They were also pulling guys off the street. Last year
they had more injuries.

Speaker 1 (01:26:41):
Just about Hudginson, and they didn't have their biggest weapon
on defense.

Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
But they were playing a cornerback that they literally signed
like late Saturday night and he was starting a Sunday
noon game.

Speaker 1 (01:26:53):
He was watching the games. E some cheetos and stuff,
but like, yeah, I just think, man, the they're so solid.
Dan Campbell's such a good coach to motivate them, gets
the best out of his guys. They're going to keep
golf in the same system. The guys are just getting
tighter and tighter and tighter. You know, just just how

(01:27:13):
Lawrence just howl.

Speaker 2 (01:27:15):
Like, speaking of Lawrench, let's make sure he's still awaken there.
LG give us some lightning around before we get out
of here. So one of the one of the things
I had on the list from Monday's lightning around that
we didn't get to uh massive online conversations or had
this past weekend or past yeah, this past weekend with

(01:27:37):
the w NBA All Star Game, we're we're entering a
world a serious, serious portion of our sports ecosystem, bigger
portion than it's ever been. Is now chick ball, it's
now w NBA, and it's.

Speaker 1 (01:27:57):
You know, it's you know, you're w NBA than I've
ever wanted to or have in my life. Yeah, I look,
Caitlyn's fun to watch. Let's test that.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
It's Yeah, the obviously the story And this is how
I know w n b A has reached a new
level of our zeitgeist, of our pop culture, of our
cultural stratosphere. The fact that people are commenting now about
the w n b A that wouldn't have five years ago,

(01:28:35):
even though it's even though majority of those people are
saying something negative, they're still.

Speaker 1 (01:28:40):
Saying it and they know stats and they know some info,
and they know that it will drive clicks.

Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
Because that's the thing. If no one, if the w
n b A didn't matter, those dudes wouldn't talk about
how ridiculous it was that they were wore pay us what.

Speaker 1 (01:28:56):
You owe us? Sure, And I don't know if you
know this is did you see those Kaitlyn Clark cookie
monster Kobe's really Oh buddy, Yeah, I always forget we
have yeah, buddy, forget we have it. They are there.
They are fire. Man Like. I don't really like, you know,

(01:29:17):
too many basketball shoes, but like those those are fire.
But yeah, I got what you got with that Coastal
softball game. I got pushed around by some lesbians and
I had those shoes are sick, yeah, And I had
to not that there's anything wrong with them. And I
had to watch the w n B A All Star
Game while trying to watch the UFC main event on uh.

(01:29:42):
That was yeah. I was like, I was like, can
we change this? I was like, is anybody watching this?
And I looked to my left and there's some lesbians.

Speaker 2 (01:29:48):
So it's interesting the you know, those have always I
was like, all right, I'll just look over here. That was, uh,
you know, that was the w n B AS core audience.
Outside of that, and you know Caitlin Clark's basically it's
interesting now that you have a lot of mail sports

(01:30:14):
commentators rushing to point out the league's never turned to profit,
which is true. The league lost fifty million dollars last
year because they started finally using private jets chartered planes,
which is true. But while that is completely true, and
of course the instant joke of these broads need to

(01:30:35):
pay thirty thousand dollars each, because if you want us
to pay what you owe, you owe fifty million dollars combined.
So you'll figure out a way to split it up
and pay it back.

Speaker 1 (01:30:44):
And that's cute. It wins you Internet points, it wins you.

Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
You know, it gets you click. Sure, it's fun point
and they again, the numbers there are true, but the
numbers are also true to ten years ago, the expansion
fee for a new WNBA team was like two million dollars.
Now it's two hundred and fifty million dollars. The TV
deal they just signed that kicks in next year is

(01:31:10):
worth two hundred million dollars.

Speaker 1 (01:31:12):
Yeah, they're seeing the writing on the wall that it
is going to make money.

Speaker 2 (01:31:16):
And the NBA players get fifty percent of the revenue share.
W NBA players aren't going to get that. I don't
think that's realistic now.

Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
Less unless they can start bumping up those ratings. You
know it would take.

Speaker 2 (01:31:29):
I mean they're still dude. WNBA games are beating baseball games,
you know, are beating.

Speaker 1 (01:31:35):
Like right, the numbers.

Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
That's why they just got a two hundred million dollar
media deal.

Speaker 1 (01:31:40):
But all of that to say, because they're putting them
on ESPN.

Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
No, they're on Ion, dude, They're on like the most
random they might as well be on Oh I know
there was Oxagen where all of the true crime shows are.

Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
WNBA has been on.

Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
They're on CBS is their main is their main network.
ESPN is of course big on them too. But the
when you see people like Dave Portnoy defending the WNBA.

Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
He's getting clicks well. But I also think.

Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Eventually, if he can get enough good graces within the league,
I think he would buy a team.

Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
Because as he's defending the WNBA, he's sitting there bashing
the Tonight Show. If I was losing this most part,
it's like, how is the number one show losing that
much money?

Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
Do you expect consistency to actually get you said clicks? Now,
it's it's an interesting time because the WNBA, for the
first time ever, actually is valuable. Yeah, it's just I mean,
I think they're getting like seven percent of the revenue shares. Now,
they're not gonna get fifty, but they should get more
than seven. But as soon as it gets profitable, all

(01:32:50):
of a sudden, they're wearing protest shirts and it's like,
you know and Kelsey plum Craft mentality calling out Caitlin's team.

Speaker 1 (01:32:58):
For did he did you see? He was like, oh man,
it's like a can Coon trip. There's like a girls
on a CanCon trip around. Yeah. Yeah, there's no d
to be seen. I did see that, all right? Hit
me LG. So I know you like to do some
of the YELP reviews and stuff. What do you do?

(01:33:20):
This is actually a five star from Little Caesars. Let
me let me go ahead and read you this this
on he slipped an a ball into my hot and
ready has stopped in the Little Caesars just just trying
to get a six dollars pizza and ended up in

(01:33:41):
a full on action movie. Just as I grab my order,
this furious dude barges in, yelling about how I cut
him off in traffic earlier. Before I can even respond,
he throws a punch, But then out of nowhere, the
guy behind the counter jumps over like he's been waiting
for this moment for his whole life and beats the
living hell out of this guy. The guy ran off,

(01:34:02):
the cashier dusted himself off. I said, are you okay, man,
And he looked me dead in the eye and he said,
bitious little Caesars, We're always hot and ready. Okay, okay, whether.

Speaker 2 (01:34:21):
Well, I look, anytime I find myself in a little Caesars,
I kind of feel like at any moment, a guy
could fly across the count someone out. Yeah, that doesn't
shock me whatsoever. Yeah, we need to do more alg.

Speaker 1 (01:34:37):
Yeah, more of those.

Speaker 2 (01:34:38):
We need to do more reviews. Another good one I had. Well,
I'll follow up on the backs of that. So a
person we've talked about on the show a few times,
my buddy Aaron Pina, the owner of a more eternal
favorite bar in town, owner of Gimme Gimme right there
in Southtown as well, a great little punk bar with great,

(01:35:00):
great food. The they did something at Gimme Gimme that spread,
as the kids say, virally, went a little viral to
the point where I think it was yesterday or maybe
even earlier today we got a Texas Monthly item or
a Texas Monthly article written about one of the food

(01:35:21):
items on their menu. Oh wow, did either of y'all
see that? Did you see this at all? LG and
not a subscriber TOAs okay, well, well it spread.

Speaker 1 (01:35:30):
It was it was a Facebook group.

Speaker 2 (01:35:32):
It was a Facebook post that spread across San Antonio's audiences. Yeah,
the restaurant Ye san Antonio Restaurant group. Then it got
picked up by Maya Essay and then made its way
to Texas Monthly.

Speaker 1 (01:35:46):
So what it was.

Speaker 2 (01:35:48):
Obviously we're all familiar with crispy dogs, yes, San Antonio staple,
san Antonio original. So the chef at Gimme Gimme came
up with aaron one do crispy dogs. But they, you know,
of course, like let's not like let's serve like we
have a really good food program. Let's let's get the

(01:36:08):
best hot dog weenies we can find, and let's make
our own tortillas for the crispy dog. So what am
I supposed to call it?

Speaker 1 (01:36:18):
A wiener weenie? It's always been a dog that's a
ween It's kind of fun.

Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
Bring wiener back, bring wiener back into your vocabulary, really fun. No,
So what they did was to try to make it
their own. They made their own tortillas, but they made
you know, blue maize corn tortillas, so they're blue. So

(01:36:48):
of course it's San Antonio. And as soon as they
posted about it. It's hope, what are these? What is
that a rosemary? And you know lavender tortillas? Like are
you gentrifying crispy dogs?

Speaker 1 (01:37:02):
Like blue tortilla chips? That was That was the most
insane thing.

Speaker 2 (01:37:06):
It's the most authentic Mexican like, yes, well, we got
to be mad at something, especially when it comes to
you know, your heritage. You rush to defend something, whether
you're actually in the right.

Speaker 1 (01:37:22):
I said blue maize corn to.

Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
But no, look, I can attest if they're gentrified, you
shouldn't care. They are delicious. I would highly suggest. I
think he's still only doing them on Mondays, but word
that they might be added to the all the time. Yeah,
they're on the Monday happy are also uh stays strong

(01:37:46):
and he's hitting the point of chemo where it is
really kicking his taking taking the legs out from under him.

Speaker 1 (01:37:52):
So keep fighting. Smoke that tweed man, get that get
that hunger back. Hit me alg I cried a little
bit at the end of the quarterbacks, little tear ran
down my eye.

Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
What at don't don't give too much away because I
want to watch it this weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:38:16):
Just tell which quarterback It wasn't even the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
Are you crying?

Speaker 1 (01:38:23):
It was Jared Gov's wife was pregnant. Oh my god, Okay,
my future wife got pregnant, buddy, And now I'm gonna
have to be a step bother again, and I'm not
happy about it.

Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
I think you should give up on that. I think
you should have given up on that during ten years ago, before.

Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
Like this, we were meant to be together. We were
something special.

Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
No, I don't think you went to I don't think
you went to cal Berkeley and you were the first
overall pick in the draft.

Speaker 1 (01:38:56):
Oh you she can slum it, hit LG.

Speaker 2 (01:38:59):
That would be that would be Uh, that would be
some serious slumming if we got down to that level.
I'll give you one more before we get out of here.
And it's the obvious one. I was watching my normal
news quad box.

Speaker 1 (01:39:17):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
I guess it was a day or yesterday. It was yesterday.
I was watching my normal news quad box yesterday. So
I had had my Fox, had my CNN, had my MSNBC,
and in that bottom right corner I had the greatness
that is BBC News and I'm watching.

Speaker 1 (01:39:37):
Middle of the afternoon.

Speaker 2 (01:39:38):
All of a sudden, BBC goes full flashing breaking news,
red banner.

Speaker 1 (01:39:45):
Across the screen, and I'm thinking, I'm thinking, like, who's bombed?

Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Who?

Speaker 1 (01:39:50):
Who?

Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
Like?

Speaker 1 (01:39:50):
What? Where? Where?

Speaker 2 (01:39:51):
Was?

Speaker 1 (01:39:52):
Where was the terrorist attack? Exactly like what subway go?
And they got stabbings in the subway?

Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
What happened?

Speaker 1 (01:39:59):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
It had to be something huge, and it was. But
it wasn't loss of life, mass, casualty huge. It was
one individual loss of life. And of course that was
the Prince of darkness, Ozzy Osbourne dead at I couldn't
tell you.

Speaker 1 (01:40:18):
How happy I was, favorite celebrity.

Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Who also was a band for a decade. It's so
funny too. He wanted He didn't pee on the Alamo.
He peed on the cenotaph that's out front of the Alamo.
And it's the giant It's exactly. It looks like a
giant dong right there in front of a giant marble
fallic phallic object right in front of it that the

(01:40:44):
Daughters of the Republic made sure that they got they
got put in place. Now he of course we know
the story. He leaves his hotel room wearing one of
Sharon's dresses because she took all his clothes away. He's wasted,
wanted to try to find a place to get another
ends up urinating near the Alamo on the cenotaph there

(01:41:05):
and banned for a decade. Makes a donation to the
Daughters of the Confederate Daughters of the Alamo, not Confederate.

Speaker 1 (01:41:13):
Well, we're being honest. It's a good thing the state
took that over. And I don't say that often.

Speaker 2 (01:41:23):
They just targeted the Mexican about government intervention. Yeah, they
would have gotten around to everybody else. Just give them time. Now,
it was, you know, obviously crazy only two weeks after
the Farewell benefit.

Speaker 1 (01:41:37):
Didn't hear about how bad his Parkinson's was and like
how they had to strap him to the chair because
he couldn't trust himself not to get up. Now he's
would and he's the creator of what we now know
as reality TV. You know, Osbourne's were the first true

(01:42:00):
reality scripted reality TV because you can say the Real World.

Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
Dude, I don't think it was scripted when it took
him twenty minutes to open a CD.

Speaker 1 (01:42:09):
Oh no, that's not a script. That's just like that's
just finding Goldie script, you know what I'm saying. But
like it's what reality TV has become. It's like the Kardashians,
and it's actually rewatchable, Like I was watching some old
Claes is hilarious, so funny.

Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
And then you think about that was twenty years ago. Yeah,
that was Ozzy bumbling around at mid fifties.

Speaker 1 (01:42:32):
Yeah, and he made it all the way Parkinson's to
take him out, man, and all that cocaine and all
that everything else, and all that could couldn't phase the
the merchant of what was what do you call the
Prince of darkness? The Prince of darkness?

Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
Yeah, the uh uh specifically that farewell tour. I didn't
realize till after the fact. It was also a giant fundraiser.
It's the biggest concert fundraiser now.

Speaker 1 (01:43:00):
Seeds went to party to Parkinson's kids.

Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
And it was like a hundred It's like one hundred
and eighty million something ridiculous on hundred and fifty hundred
and eighty million dollars raised.

Speaker 1 (01:43:08):
A true philanthropist, Satan's own Osborne.

Speaker 2 (01:43:13):
It just goes to prove anybody can do anything good,
even if it's in the name of darkness.

Speaker 1 (01:43:21):
Say like, you can still do good things. A party
in the fire King, because that's where you wanted to
be Yeah, good night, good night, sweet prints of Darkness.
Do we want all right? Hear me? Al g, it's
still really to be dammage. We're gonna end with a
clip hopefully. Oh god, Oh we got it. Oh god.

(01:43:44):
I found it on Twitter.

Speaker 2 (01:43:45):
Captain calling for a clip, found it on Twitter. This
has become this is quickly became one of my favorite things.

Speaker 1 (01:43:51):
Yeah, here we go. This this happened. This guy, this rook,
came up from the minor leagues and made three of
the most spectacular catches one could be ranked in the
top ten. And here we go. Let's watch them a
different look.

Speaker 3 (01:44:11):
Here he puts a swing on it to center field.
Denzel Clark going back towards the wall.

Speaker 1 (01:44:16):
Spider Man's over. That's that's easierro Is. That's Arry Matthews
junior man. It reminds me of Matthews catch with the Landers.
And then this happens one week right after that, still going,
He's still going. Boom, takes out the wall like Aaron
Judge did, even though he hurt. His tone got lost

(01:44:38):
for the season. Catches the ball, caught the baseball.

Speaker 2 (01:44:43):
I always love a catch where the announcer actually doesn't
know whether he because the wall.

Speaker 1 (01:44:51):
And then love that catch catch another style catch, but
he literally pulls it back. He doesn't catch the ball
until over the fence he snags it. Stop. Yeah, that
that was ridiculous. Those are some of the most fantastic
catches I have seen. And okay that that last one

(01:45:14):
I saw it on a delay. I forgot to set
up my That last one is the Gary.

Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
That's the one that if you look at go watch
that Gary Matthews Junior catch when he was playing for
the the way he scaled the wall, waited on it,
and then caught it still while.

Speaker 1 (01:45:28):
It was on its way down.

Speaker 2 (01:45:29):
Yeah that is I mean it's video games still videos.

Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
No, yeah, that's like, what was it? The only problem
he plays jam or you know, baseball baseball try to
make something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
But no, like, if your buddy does that to you,
play in the show against him, you throw the controller
at him because you're like, dude, what the like, that's
not that's not baseball.

Speaker 1 (01:45:50):
No one can do that. No.

Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
The only problem is he plays for the uh only
team in baseball that doesn't have a city name in
there official just the Athletics. And he got he went
on the IL right before this series against the Rangers.
Did he So I was genuinely I wasn't too worried
about the athletics, but I was at least thinking, like,

(01:46:13):
let's see what he can do.

Speaker 1 (01:46:16):
In the way further out. He can't get even catch those.

Speaker 2 (01:46:18):
But now seeger need to need to keep need to.

Speaker 1 (01:46:22):
Keep saying he jacked a home run. So I mean
he got his first home run. First three web gyms,
which I really miss ESPN web gyms I missed.

Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
When he is being cared about baseball, I'm glad they're
losing baseball. They no more once they quit doing baseball. Tonight,
any kind of does a dedicated baseball coverage? Yeah, you
could see the writing on the wall, like I'm I'm
really excited to see someone else take a crack at baseball.

Speaker 1 (01:46:47):
Well that's it, gentlemen, I can't hear your marathon.

Speaker 2 (01:46:52):
Day is over and we went seven minutes short of
two hours anyhow.

Speaker 1 (01:46:57):
Two in dang it. Well that's what I tell all
the girls.
