Speaker 1 (00:00):
Like bean Lie Lie.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Lie, we baby. Oh is that it? That was it? Oh,
we've had our first, we had our first massive failure.
Light the beam, Light the beam, LG light the beam
(00:29):
and pass it around. Welcome back into another live edition
of the Sports Cave, here broadcasting from the greater San
Antonio area, where we find ourselves fourteen days away from the.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
NBA Draft Lottery. We of course had.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
The NFL Draft, so we got a new countdown going
at the top of the show, a what is shaping
up to be an extremely important NBA Draft lottery luck
on our side?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
You know, it just so happens on a Monday night too.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
I know that was you said. Fourteen days Honday. It's
coming on on a Monday, Yeah, two weeks, two weeks
away from the NBA. We should know what we got
by the time we start the show, yes, yeah, yeah,
because they usually put in between. They usually do it
at like halftime of that early game. So it literally
should be right like half an hour, few minutes right
(01:25):
before we go live, and let's we put it out there.
Let's know what we got before we go on.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
So if we go on five to ten minutes late,
it's only because we're looking for the picks.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, yeah, no, that'll have to be That'll have to
be determined before we go live in two weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
But tonight we are we are going to talk a.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Little bit of Spurs as we talk NBA playoffs because, uh,
the rumor mill has already started up in Milwaukee with
the unfortunate turn of events in that series, of course,
got NHL playoffs to talk about. This is the best
time of year, if you ask me. But the main
(02:03):
segment will be our NFL Draft recap, where we need
to revisit some of our thoughts from last week because
I seemed like a very, very uneducated person. Well, i'll
give you, I'll give you this benefit of the doubt.
A lot of experts looked like uneducated persons. You looked
(02:27):
better than mel Kiper, I'll say that at least. But
as always, we start with what I watched last night
and Monday night, meaning what we watched over the weekend,
not just watch, but what we did over the weekend.
And I'm sure, like most of y'all, like Cap, like LG,
(02:49):
I'm sure it was a lot of NFL Draft, a
lot of playoff basketball, playoff hockey. Of course, wearing my
Chelsea jersey despite Liverpool officially winning the Premier League over
the weekend. But as all we I like to I
like to share some of the more mundane parts of
(03:10):
the weekend before we get into sports.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
And this weekend was was just like any other.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
I came to a massive realization about myself this week
this weekend a bit of one and it's not it's
not a good one. Well depending on how you look
at it. It's a need some course correction. Well possibly,
And this is why I bring it to the to
the jurors with me every week here as well as
(03:38):
the listeners. The roommate and I did a little quick shopping,
uh trip over to the outlet mall this weekend. Oh
your wardrobe, So to give the secret secrets away. You
go this time of year and then you go in
(03:58):
like September. This is the best time you get the deals.
Get things that are out of season, hold on to
them for the next six months. I don't care if
it's in style or in trend. Yeah, but you can
find some good deal. I got a great pair of
Russell Westbrook's last pair of Jordan brand signature shoes. They
were on crazy sell Oh my.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
I never got I never got into the basketball shoes. Well,
so I've been playing long socks and birking stocks.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I've been playing basketball again to try to uh, to
try to well, I tell you to try to work
off all the funnel cakes I've eaten so far. Because
the carnival is basically in my front yard at the Alamodome,
you just smelling fried dough every morning. We're going to
keep a running count of it. The thing open Thursday,
I've already had five funnel cakes. God damn, it's not good. Brother,
(04:48):
It's not it's not it's not good. But uh something else.
Did a lot of walking at the outlet mall at least,
so maybe trade off. No, the epiphany is I think
I think I'm the shopper between my household. I think
(05:10):
it is, and it's it's an unfortunate realization.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
I came to So.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
We went, Are you the shopper and decorator or is
it no, not that not so much or like this
fashion sense?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
No, not so much decorating or certainly not fashion since
but when it comes to so we went, we went, uh,
I think Thursday since so it's been yeah, since the
last time we talked. We went Thursday. The place closes
at eight, so we went after stuff got off work,
(05:42):
get over there about uh, you know, five thirty ish,
little hair under six, and within the first thirty minutes
she's like, Okay, I got everything I need.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Oh, you're the slow shopper. No you little Oh I
hate you man.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Not as much the low shopper, but just the So
she says.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Let me look at the back of the rack. That's
a thousand percent like I'm going to cover It's like
I'm playing Zelda. I'm going to cover every inch of
the room, looking for secrets, looking for deals before I'm
ready to move on to the next So it's you know,
it's six forty five. We've still got over an hour
to go to other stores. Discuss again. I'm not proud
(06:23):
of myself. I'm not proud of myself at all.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
I go in like it's a like a military mission
where it's like we got we got three sectors and
we got five minutes to get it done with.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Let's hit it. Yeah, that's exactly how she is, which
left me in the position of, you know, there's there's
still like three or four stores I want to try
to hit oh my god, and we still got over
an hour, and so I ask, you know, She's like,
all right, I got everything I need. And so I
kind of without being the person that's like, well I
(06:56):
want to do more shopping, because I'm certainly not going
to say that. So I tried the I tried the
maneuver of, well, you know, we've still got over an hour. Uh,
you sure you don't want to go to the Levi's store.
You sure you don't want to go to the Wrangler store.
Oh you're just gaslighting the shit out of here a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yeah, you know, minor, minor gaslighting.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
I think I think we think we really should I
think we really should hit that levi'ce store. You know,
you never know when you're gonna find her a red label,
That's what I'm saying. You never know, and you don't
know unless you go actually walk through the store. Couldn't
convince her, couldn't convince her. I could see her on
her phone just being like, oh so okay. So speaking
of that, so I suggested, I said, well, I just
(07:39):
want to run into the van store because I need
a new pair. I just want to get a replacement
pair of vans, like I'm not, I won't be in
there long, which is where I made the.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Mistake, because as soon as I said that, she said,
well then I'll just I'll wait in the car.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
And I'm like, I am literally like she is the
husband that is waiting in the car while the wife
said claims like I'm only going in for one thing.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Oh, that was my whole marriage to me waiting in
the car. All right, we gotta go to the dinner.
I'm like, I'm gonna be in the car five minutes later,
ten minutes later, I'm just stealing. Just I'm gonna honk
this morning. I'm gonna honk it, and it's always right
when I do honk it. She's walking out. Yeah, I
get that dirty look, just the you little.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
No, you're just laying on it like a dog stuck
in the car. The unfortunate thing was when I walked
into Vans. Of course, it's seal season, so yeah, you
buy one pair of shoes, you can get another pair
of half off two for one, so I gotta get three.
All of a sudden, the one thing I came in for.
It's like, well, I would be stupid not to look around,
(08:46):
and just you know, see if they have any other
size fourteen's in the store. So, yeah, that was that woman.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
It was on sales, so we saved money. We didn't
we didn't lose money.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
And so I'm the wife doing girl math money. I'm
doing girl math to tried to convince her like no, no, no,
no no. I practically they forced me to buy these
because the deal was so good. System tariffs, tariffs are coming, baby. Yeah. Well, luckily,
luckily I got some of my shopping done over the weekend,
although again it led to the unfortunate realization that you're
(09:22):
the other one. I think I'm the other one in
that situation. But outside of that, we went to a
you know, I mentioned last week my buddy Aaron bar
owner there in Southtown. Jimmy gimmey is the bar. I
couldn't think of last week whenever I was scrambling like
Johnny Manziel and Tuscaloosa trying to remember it, but shout
(09:46):
out to Aaron. Surgery went well, apparently not getting to
enjoy fiesta.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
But apparently apparently everything is going well so far.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
But I mentioned that I went to a you know,
we talk about this show currently being a soft opening.
Actually went to a soft opening of a bar in
Southtown this weekend. Oh and can we get the name
or not? Brother?
Speaker 3 (10:12):
If I remembered it, I would tell you.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
This was so it was a soft opening for bartenders.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
So that means shots, shots pretty much, in a couple
more shots pretty much, and shout out the bartender that
whenever I tried to order a specific tequila, he's like, brother,
you don't want to pay that price tonight. Like, just
it's just they're killing us alone and move on.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Yeah, yeah, dude, Like, I mean, what was it?
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Cosam Egos and Don Julio went up ten dollars? Yeah, Don,
I was they moved they moved the down from you know,
six seven dollars up to ten to twelve dollars.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I'm like that, Math, don't add up. Oh again, tariffs,
tariffs are coming for everything. It's especially uh. But the
bigger takeaway from it is, you know, I'm at the
point now thirty Deuce Math born in eighty six, thirty
nine years old, going to a soft opening of a
(11:08):
new trendy bar in South Town. Oh, you're the old guy. So,
first of all, it was I had already been at
another bar watching the draft that night, yeah. So I'm
already I'm tipsy, and I'm in like sports mode, and
I'm in like, you know, this competition competitive mindset, Like
(11:28):
I'm not in a let's be chill, hipster southtown bar
vibes at all. So as soon as I walk in there,
I can it instantly felt like animal house of just
everyone all in unison turning around and looking at me. Yeah,
because everybody knows each other and they're like, who is
this long haired, tall guy? And so I just literally
(11:51):
gave a double phulk. So I was like, I don't
know what to tell you. I'm here, and so I
walk over to the bar to try to get a drink,
and imediately this chick just gives me a big old
high five, and so I'm instantly I'm like, Okay, it's
not gonna be as bad as I expected. Yeah, Okay,
at least I'm being met with some level of friendliness,
(12:15):
you know, like look at this old dude. Just wait.
So end up getting drinks, meet the roommate and our
friends outside on the little patio, and then the girl
that gave me the high five is there talking to him,
and so now I'm starting to think, like, what is
actually happening here, Like what is like the girlfriend said,
(12:38):
the wife sets you up again? No, no, no, I've known
the girl that gave me the high five for like
ten years. Didn't even didn't even because I'm already I'm like, oh, hey,
I just got a high five from a random stranger,
strange audi at the bar, Like I'm feeling great about it,
and it's just like.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
The roof, brother, the roof. We had to go outside
because my head was getting so big.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Oh I feel great when like some of my old
bartender friends and they're still looking good in their forties
and stuff, and they see me and they're like eh,
And then everybody around me is like and I'm in
my basketball shorts with a cutoff shirt, you know, and
they're like.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Why is this dying piece all over this guy? What
does he got?
Speaker 4 (13:25):
I had guys literally come up to me more than
once and being like, who are you?
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Teach me your waist? Yeah, like who are you?
Speaker 4 (13:33):
You came in here dancing with two girls, walking in
strutting all the way to the end of the bar,
and I'm.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Just like, I'm the captain. That's all you need to know.
We've had I've had multiple people. Who's this new Uh,
who's this cat that's doing the show with you and
l G? No, oh, that's the captain. Yeah, yeah, who
is he? That's the captain. I don't know what else
to tell you. You got to remain an enigma. Yeah, well,
at least, you know, maybe if someone gets LG liquored
(13:59):
up enough, they'll he'll tell stories of y'all playing pog
back in junior high. Oh, no, knifing.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
It was fun times. I love playing bugs.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Still we are, we are working on I'm kind of
throwing down.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I'd like I would think I was up late.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
My dad I had to go to the hospital, so
like I couldn't go to sleep, and I think I
was texting LG at like four o'clock in the morning,
like names, oh yeah, that's late.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
I just.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Yeah, they happen too often.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I'm like, I gotta get it out.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
I'd like, I know I needed to use like a notepad,
but I'm like, if I text LG, there's gonna be
like next time I open it up and I'll be like, oh, yeah,
that's right.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
That's right. I am the old man. I notepad next
to the bed, notepad on the table right next to
my side of the bed just randomly.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
I'll do that, but I use the note to app.
I mean I don't write it down.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
No, I mean y'all know, y'all know you try to
read my chicken scratch run sheet.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
I could for us, but.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
Yeah, shout out to Keto jar in the chab he says,
suck Puma.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Well, what's up, and we've.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
Got a We've got an international listener here.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
If you in in the UK, that.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Pattie Hi interested in the Chelsea.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
Yeah, he says, so interesting to see an American Chelsea fan.
He's well chiming in a Chelsea fan from the UK.
It's just past two am over here in the UK.
Oh international, thanks for listening up on twitch.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Yeah, spectacular love that he's a Chelsea fan. To now. Uh,
When I was in college, when I first got into soccer, like,
I never had any time for it, never played it
growing up, never had any interest. And then I learned
that Champions League games or Premier League games are on
(15:48):
at two o'clock in the afternoon, or you know, some
Premier League games on at eight am, ten am. It's
better than watching the morning show.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Well, and it's time. It's if sports are on, then
it's okay to drink. It's okay, okay, Yeah, that's how sports.
If there are lots on the television, can.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
You even drink where Chelsea plays?
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Or is alcohol banned at the stadium because I know
a lot of those places, like a year band and
like they go Barcelona.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Is a complete band. There's no alcohol in Barcelona.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
England Stadium England way more revenue.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
But the pubs are the pubs.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Are surrounding the states.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Yeah, yeah, like built into the stadium almost. So what
you do is you go to the pub, you get wasted,
then you stop by the sports book that's also connected
to the stadium, and then you make a bunch of
drunken bets and then you walk in watch the game.
Get completely well, don't.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Forget all the beers you can buy while you're walking
to the stadium from the random you know, local local
screwball that's selling the.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Beer just on the street, beer four euros.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Here booth, kids sitting on ice chests. It's like they
take advantage. I think they. I mean, if we're being honest,
I think they kind of have sports figured out compared
to our over corpora tise.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Oh yeah, every.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
Football match, soccer match is way better because they don't
have time.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
They don't have the media timeouts. Now that media timeout bullshit.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
They will never That's why it will never be that
popular in US.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Because it can't make them enough money.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
They can't say they're ad revenue enough. They're like forty
five minutes straight of soccer. You're telling me we can't
break that up in eight segments and put sixteen advertisements
in all of one.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
It drives me crazy.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
If you watch an MLS game every five minutes, they'll
shrink the actual action to do uh you know, an
overlay graphic and it's like next ten minutes, brought to
you by Auti, the official car dealership of them.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
Everything is sold, so Patty's in here with the facts,
he says. So you can drink at the stadiums, but
not while watching the game. You can't take them out
to your seats watching the game. So you can have
it like at the little concession stands, I guess the bars,
but you can't have him at your seat. Patty says
he went to a game a month ago and had
a few in the pub where Chelsea was founded.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
That's badass.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
That's his story. Yeah, man, it sounds like I need
to come visit Patty and get a full Stanford Bridge
experience because going back's never been across the pond.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Really, it's an interesting place.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
I'm you know, just like you. I don't understand, like
I got a five first class and it's like eight
thousand dollars a ticket because yeah, my knees are in
someone's back and I'm having to sit there and tell
them it's going to be like this, Yeah, just get yeah,
you can, you.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Can buy the two seats. I guess.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Well, still I'm sitting there like wide leg bowl leged.
I've done it like you know on Southwest flights where
the seat was just happened to be open.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Sure, my knee is still in the back. They just
jamming these poor people.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Man.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Again, it's got to make that money. You gotta make
that money.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
I uh know, when I was in college, fell in
love with Diddy, a Draga form or Chelsea Striker, a.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Dude that is front Diddy, a draw that.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
He literally uh well not literally, but he was a
major part in agreeing to or negotiating a ceasefire in
uh in uh the Ivory Coast where his original originally
humanitarian work. Yeah, he used his uh you know, and
me being a political science nerd major in college mixed
(19:30):
with you mix politics and sports and brother, I'm like,
I am your target audience now, like.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
You have me for life, but that the Russian dope
and scandal will be a whole episode the.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Best years as a Chelsea fan. We're winning Russian Oligark
owned the team. I missed the I missed the Russians,
I missed road. Now we're owned by an American and
we can't win ship. We're fighting just to try to
be top four. Well they need to be owned by
all the Ryan Reynolds and.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Yeah I was.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
I have that in the in the quick hits to
mention because we've done way too much soccer talk at
the top, because I did want to talk a little bit. Yeah,
thank you, thanks for listening from across the pond. I
thought you all were gonna tell me that was our
one Algerian listener. We have a dude that downloads every
episode of the podcast in Algeria.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Oh man, I am Mars. That's about all I want
to know more about this man.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Yeah, so I.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Drilled down the demographics, but I can't. I don't have
a number to text and be like, hey, what what's
what's your scene over there? What are we doing?
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Tell me get more people, man, I'd love to be
blown up in Algeria.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Well that would Well, that didn't hit, but let's hope.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
I mean, if we if we.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Get one more person from Algeria, we double our Algerian representations.
That could go on the call sheet. Yeah, last thing
I had, I haven't had. Baseball's taken a bit of
a backseat this week, just because of all the stars
playoff hockey. The NFL draft been amazing.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
So I'm I'm the poor Damian little littard.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I think the al Yeah, and we're gonna talk about
that because the the I mean, some of these matchups
are playing out better than you could have expected. I'm
relying on the years in Minnesota to keep the pulse
of baseball going while at least while my stars are
alive still in the playoffs. I did watch enough to
(21:34):
see my Rangers lose on a little league home run. Yes,
good are they are? They? I mean it's a little
sharp stick to you, but they happened to your team
because the Rangers committed two errors on the same play,
two throwing errors and guy hits a ball to the pitcher.
He hits a ball to the pitcher and ends up
(21:55):
scoring on two errors.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
It reminds me of a World Series that I totally
forgot about that just happened, and I don't remember who won.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Oh really, you know?
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Yeah, I mean there was a lot of Supposedly.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
If I give you, if I give you a minute, a.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Minute, do you think you could? You think you can
over the minute? Right now? We got sweet sweet Aaron
Judge hitting a nice four hundred and seven. We should
have railroaded our division rivals Blue Jays. Vlad Garrera Junior
does what he always does and beats and just mashes
(22:32):
on us.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
We got Fried playing like Garrett cole himself, five five wins,
zero losses, leading them, leading the majors, our bullpens getting healthy.
We got Goldie who's hidden second in average with three
fifty six, three fifty seven. So we got the first
and second batting average, Judges letting in about ten categories and.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
Hits wore all those crazy stats.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
And if you could have predicted that Bellinger was gonna
be hitting a soft two hundred and Garrett holes out
so is heal our other starter and we are fourth
in the league. I wouldn't I wouldn't have believed you.
I would have been like, no, something's going on. Everybody's underperformed,
(23:22):
but the Yankees are doing great and.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Unfortunate. Man, that minute felt long. Oh it felt excellent.
That felt like the longest minute I think we've I
think we've had yet. I think I was soiled myself.
As far as Good Lord, as far as the rest
of the weekend, y'all got any That's right, Chris, go Yankees,
y'all got any big shopping adventures?
Speaker 5 (23:50):
Or I managed to secure a Nintendo switch to fo.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Nerd? Yeah, did you? Did you?
Speaker 3 (24:00):
You do the stand in line at games?
Speaker 2 (24:02):
I did not.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
I happened to catch a shadow drop that Walmart did
at twelve am the other night on Thursday night.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Shadow. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
They didn't announce it. They just dropped it on the website.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
And are you form? Are you in an am?
Speaker 1 (24:16):
I read it? Yeah, a bunch of redditors.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
I was on the Nintada switch to subreddit and a
bunch of people were like Walmart now, Walmart now, And
I was like, boom, Walmart now, and it was like
it was it was like just buying a regular product.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Well you had no issues with no issues.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
In the line with you just talking.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
I'm sure there a lot because ten minutes later I went,
I looked and see if.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
It was there was gone.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
It was Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Big shout out to Patty.
Speaker 5 (24:43):
Thanks buddy, he said, he's got to go because it's
late as hell across the pond.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Well he drink one for Thanks for listening, Patty.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Yeah, evangelize, evangelize to your brethren over there, let them know.
Let's let's increase those UK numbers.
Speaker 5 (24:58):
Yeah, buddy, I mean we got some cheap flights over there.
Every now and then you can get a cheap flight
to Manchester or London. There's a direct from Austin to
London now.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
So yeah, you know, the roommate and I actually might
have been looking at some direct flights from Austin to
different European I've done that many times.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
They's gone up and just like left the car in
Austin because yeah, that's it's cheaper.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Sometimes there's two directs.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
They got a direct to Amsterdam now and a direct
to London, so you.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Know what, you know what Austin. So again, I said
the roommate and I were looking at direct flights. We
were looking at the ones to lunchon exactly. I know
my flight plight district.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
That's just a tiny that's nothing.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
It's it's an expert, ol G tell me more.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
How is that it's not nothing compared to the Pataya or.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Your imagination is way more than what it actually is.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Yeah, it's like it's like defeat.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Is it like ball holes and sea sections?
Speaker 5 (26:02):
No, no, no, no, they're tens.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
No no, no, they're all tens. They're all they're all ten.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Yeah, imagine they're all I'm under expensed. It's just not
like it's.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
Not like a huge part. It's like the smallest district
in all of it.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yeah, it's like, but they are definitely all Bill Belichick girlfriends.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
So one of my favorite things, oh my god, one
of my favorite things to do. Every time we go
to a town like San Francisco or Oklahoma City or
anywhere that I go to sports event, I try to
find the raunchiest strip club. And I'm talking like I
want bullet holes and sea sections. And I didn't like,
didn't I take that? Did I take you to? We
(26:44):
didn't go to Denver?
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Okay, because I've been to.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Denver's well, I've been to sho I've been to Shotgun
Willies in Denver.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
But that was that was a good one.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
But that's where what's his name got caught.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
With the gun plexico.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Uh No, that was an NBA player.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
I think I know you're talking about, but what you McCall?
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Yeah, that was Atlanta, never mind confusing.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Magic.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
I took my friend Casey went to go see Bedling
Oklahoma State and Oklahoma years ago, and I took him
to one where we were the only two white boys
and about five cops were circling around the parking lot.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
He was nervous. He was so nervous. I'm sitting there
just City and Norman or still Oklahoma City. Oh okay, yeah,
because it was in Norman. So we went to Oklahoma
City October and this guy was like, we don't go
I'm like, we're going in And then of course there
was a mixtape drop and the worst one, the worst
(27:40):
slash best one I've ever been to was in Vegas.
We told uh we had done some research from a
local uh that used to live there, a kid that
we all knew, and he suggested a very specific one
I don't remember what the name, but it was in
Vegas proper, like in the city, away from everything else.
(28:03):
Oh yeah, that's the expensive one that the strip. Yeah no,
we weren't.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
It was not expensive.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Uh oh it was. It was outside the city living,
so they had to extract.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
That's correct. Okay, that is correct. So we call this uber,
get into the uber, and the guy immediately before he
says like, hey, how are we doing tonight anything, he
just goes, I saw your destination. And I'm like, oh god,
what's he about to say? Like what? I saw your destination?
(28:40):
Are you sure there's not another one closer you would
like to go? And I was like, yeah, no, this
one it's been suggested to us. And he looked at
me and he goes, can I ask who suggested it?
Like is it? Was it an employee at the and
I was like no, it was one of my friends
that used to live here, and he goes, oh he
goes He goes, oh he was a low and I
(29:00):
was like, yeah, this is where he said to go,
and he goes, Okay, that that's why he knows.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
That's why he was like.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
He's like, you're fine, there's nothing You're not it's like,
but that being said, why don't you just pay me
to wait outside and I'll be your ride out of there,
so y'all don't have to wait for an uber afterwards,
because apparently it wasn't in the best part of.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
About that. So apparently it was John Moran at the Shotgun.
That's your job. Oh, that's right, And Atlanta won is
Lou Williams.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, that was during the during the bubble.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
He just wanted the wings. I got those wings City.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
I was in Atlanta last November and I went to
Magic City and ordered the Lou will Special where he
didn't go.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
He didn't go to the other side with the strippers. No.
I saw the kitchens, right, I had to go. I
had to go order just be like ladies, there's a
stack of ones. Make you know.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
There was like families like lined up like getting chicken
wings at the strip club like Hooters.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
It's just every everybody.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
We asked were like, you know, where's where's a good
place to get some food? Magic City?
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Baby? What really like?
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Magic City Kitchen is legendary.
Speaker 6 (30:13):
Dude.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
If everybody who's like, oh, the steaks good at the
strip club, I just look at them into total.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I'm not getting to ninety nine steak.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
I do not eat at the titty. It would be
even even though I've I know how great Magic City
Lemon Pepper Wings are probably are, but like two different buildings, right,
so there's like a.
Speaker 5 (30:40):
No, no, no, it's not separated. It's the same building
and it's the tiniest building.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
I still don't think I would break my rule. I'm not.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
So there's kids and they're watching girls work.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
And not really but like you know, there's families showing
up and they the kids aren't allowed in. So there's
like kids hanging out.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
A yeah, they.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
Take care outside. They got a dig Oh man, that's
the Atlanta ship right there. I did just watch my
kids real quick.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I'm going food.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
I didn't have a drinking I didn't stick a dollar.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
And anybody's ass cracked.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
Just with your my food and left three separate nights
on the on the full week I was there.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
I ate in Magic it has to be separate. Like
if I'm going there, I'm either going for the girls
or I'm going for the wings. It's not it's got
to be to go. He's got to be yah to go.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Those worlds don't cross paths and no.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
No, they show you a little bit because they're trying to,
you know, upsell you a little bit, like you sure
you want to go?
Speaker 2 (31:40):
You know? You know what that for? Here?
Speaker 3 (31:44):
Yeah, without a pasty on it thinks a lot.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (31:48):
And was that Ron? I think that was?
Speaker 4 (31:52):
It was? It was he wasn't a fan of paisties.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
I remember that. No, it was.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
It was in the day.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
It was like it was Castro, wasn't it?
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Or was it?
Speaker 1 (32:03):
I think it was Hardburger Phil Phil Hardberger.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
I remember when they first Harburger Park.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
I'm some of a bit did that?
Speaker 1 (32:11):
I don't know, I'm just naming old mayors.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
I know in twenty eleven, when I first moved here,
one of the first news stories I saw on the
local news was like SAPD conducts undercover sting where officers
I got to do that gig decent exposure, exactly like
I got on the titter gig shit. It's like, uh,
(32:36):
you know Leslie Nilson back in the Old Police Squad Show,
there's one.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Scene where he's like, uh, there's a there's a.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Rash of prostitutes robbing men after the services are conducted. Unfortunately,
I'm stuck on Meeter made duty.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
It's like I still remember that as a kid.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
I just remember thinking, he's just angry. Just yes, what
I what I saw the local news undercover s a
p D offic like ivice squad, Like they're the ones
in the champagne room giving us all a bad name.
One thousand percent. I'm like, are you wearing basketball shorts? Sir?
That's my thing. Good luck with that, good luck getting
(33:21):
in these days. As far as I believe that, As
far as the rest of the weekend, UH, pretty quiet
on y'all's I know, first weekend of fiesta. Anybody do
any actual fiesta. The roommate is at Market Square right now.
The New Orleans, Orleans is always.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Yeah, the Zulus it still we.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Can get on the rocks like we used to it
sunk gardens then there used to be if you looked
at the rocks in the top left hand side, if
you walk up, there used to be a hole in
the fence and they.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Would have cops patrol it. But you can sit there
and sneak in and you just start running down those
rocks right into the crowd, right into.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
The man disappeared. I've been into like eight concerts and
then pay paid dime for him and then Marley fest.
I sat there and took allegedly a water pipe with
no tobacco to fill it, and yeah it was.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
It was a high time, dude. Just it seemed it
seemed like it was a great idea until I couldn't
get off the rocks for two hours. Yeah, that's usually
that's usually where all good ideas go to die.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Chaos bong. It's great water pipes.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
It's great to get there, but once you're there, I'm like,
oh man, it can make a big jump right there.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Yeah, it could make leaving way more difficult.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Well, if that is our weekend recap, then we will
get into the main segment tonight because.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
UH teased at the top.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Of course, last week's episode was all previewing the NFL Draft.
Tonight we will actually focus on UH. There was predictions
that went right, predictions that went.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
I thought everything I thought like our expertise opinions. I
grated an A plus plus plus plus.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Well, if you believe the experts, a lot of them
have the Cowboys with an A plus draft. Jerry had
to pay some money for those. Yeah, well, I will say,
you know, last week when we were talking about the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
God, I expected them.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I still thought there was a good chance they didn't
go wide receiver at that twelve pick and McMillan fell
to him. They would have gone definitely would have if
McMillan for him, which was a surprise to me. It's
the biggest surprise to me is not that they didn't
trade up for him, but that they didn't. They weren't
(35:47):
the team trying to trade up for Travis Hunter or
something big, something, that big something, Because I was.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
Saying last Jaguars had to give up that that was
just what two they were fifth pick?
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Yeah, from five to two. Yeah, they people had to
give up a first round or a second rounder and
a third rounder and they got a fourth and a fifth. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
No, they gave up a lot lot.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Again, I didn't expect the Cowboys to do anything like that,
but it's been a while since Jerry has done anything
like that, so I was kind of I figured if
it was gonna be a trade up, it was gonna
be something real big, not just a couple spots.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
I really thought the trade down.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
They're wearing them out by doing it late at night
and stuff like that, So Jerry can't do any of that. Yeah, No,
he's sundowning hard these days. I expected when they were
sitting there at twelve last Thursday night, I didn't think
it was going to be an offensive lineman's name cold
and if they weren't trading down, I still kind of
(36:45):
thought that would have been some d line help in
the first round. But they're losing two guards, so like.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
Yeah, no, it makes a lot of it was no,
it makes a lot of sense.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
And you look at you know, when the Cowboys were
in the of winning twelve games three seasons in a row,
it was because they had one of they had an
elite offensive line. They had they had invested in it.
You know, you still had and I still think if Tyrant,
I still think Williams and Javonte's got something there. Yeah,
(37:17):
and we'll talk about we'll talk about the running back room,
because they did end up addressing that need, but not
till the fifth round. But intriguing, intriguing guy that they
got there, Jayden Blue. But if you're going if you're
going to, I won't say it's not rebuild, its reinvesting.
(37:40):
You know, they Shody Schottenheimer seems to be a guy
that wants to get back to what that kind of
Jason Garrett consistency of not, for lack of a better word,
a bit boring. We want to invest, we win the trag.
He wants the power run and play action. Yeah, power run, playofction.
(38:01):
What's style at this point with down with Dak as
immobile as he is now after the ankle in the
hamstring last year.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Uh, you know.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
You've got to have you got to invest in the
offensive line, especially, you know, losing Zach Martin instant Hall
of Famer. You know, it's a lot of pressure to
say that Tyler Booker is going to immediately fill those shoes.
But after last year, they invest in the offensive line
in the first round with Tyler Goyden, he shows that
(38:36):
he is nowhere near ready to be a Day one starter.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Uh, this Tyler Booker feel different.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
They overload him because they didn't want to go Zach
Martin's areas, so they're just like less overload, you know,
the B gap whatever.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Get well and Guyton was a right tackle in college.
They were trying to make him trying to get him
to play left tackle last year to keep Tyler Smith inside.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
So you know, again I think you look.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
At their first three picks, first, second, third round, offensive line,
defensive line, defensive back. Yeah, those are all the positions
we were talking about last week of if they.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Don't go wide receiver, if McMillan's not there.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
And I never really thought the the you know, Golden
out of Texas was really going to be that guy
at twelve. I mean there were even some sorry sorry
Green Bay fans. I don't think Golden's that ain't Oh
he's gonna wear number twenty two. That's just that's unstable,
untenable for a wide receiver as a DB's number, or
(39:39):
it's a running bags number either way, but you know it.
I think if you had been reading some of the
tea leaves coming out of Dallas going into the draft,
it seems like they liked the Ohio state wide receiver
better than Golden anyway, what was a Buka, But he
wasn't going to be the pick at twelve, which was
why I thought, oh, they're going to trade back. And
(40:01):
then the more I started to read about Tyler Booker,
because didn't he not give up a sack? I mean
he's he gave up like one sack in his old career,
so he's the He's a guy that if you're if
you're looking to make, if you're looking to make the
first offensive guards selection, take him off the board. Yeah,
(40:24):
he went to high school at IMG. He went to Alabama,
team captain, Like that's the kind of al Alabama that
you're if you're replacing a guy like Zach.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
Probably the best coached offensive line, yeah, in college football
behind Georgia maybe in the Ohio State.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Well, and it was back when, you know, when Bill
O'Brien was still there as their OC or quarterbacks because
he was some offensive coach.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
I think it was full OC.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
I heard him talking about Tyler Booker on a different
podcast over the week in and just the way that coaches,
former coaches talk about this guy.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
It seems like they have and.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
It became a trend when you look at the rest
of the Cowboys picks. They were absolutely valuing guys that
were team captains on their team, that had shown, you know,
leadership traits, had shown leadership.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
They're looking to keep these guys around for a long time.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
It seems like that's exactly what it's again where I
say it's it's not a rebuilding, but it absolutely is
a replenishing of the uh, you know, key areas try
to keep well.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Oh my god, Mike had made that made it seem
like that guard pick was the worst pick ever, Like.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
But then he talked to him when when Booker went
on Micah on that Bleacher Report podcast that they were doing,
and all of a sudden, Tyler Booker is talking about like, uh,
my favorite thing is to make people hate football when
they when they go up against me and I see
the joy leave their faces in the third quarter when
we've been battling all games so far, you know, and
(42:07):
then Micah loses it and hype ready to go out
on the field and play. So all of that to say,
there's nothing sexy about what the Cowboys did in Day
one or Day two. Yeah, but they drafted best available
player at positions of need. I'm not sure what else
(42:29):
you could have asked for. In the long run, it was.
It was a solid draft.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
It was like we'll see how like of course, like
with any drafts, you don't see the results for a year,
maybe two, maybe three. But you got team leaders Cowboys.
You know, you guys came in with the plan shore
both lines, getting some defenses and then maybe catch fire
with the receiver in the late round.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
Yeah, and the plan you know, going back to you know,
going back to those those years of winning twelve games
three straight seasons, winning twelve regular season games.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
I know, not playoff success.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
You don't have to remind me, but you're a pretty
damn good football team if you're winning twelve games in
the regular season three straight years. The problem just and
that's again, that's that's where it's been the last thirty years.
You don't have to remind me. Here we go. But
the problem when I think they got themselves into some
(43:30):
trouble when all of a sudden, you've won twelve games
for a couple of years in a row. Well, now
you're thinking like, well, we're a twelve win team, Like,
we're not going to take you're hyping yourself phone. We're
not going to take the guy that is going to
be a starter in three years at a position where
we already have a starter. We're going to take Mozzie
(43:52):
Smith in the first round because we have a hole
at defensive tackle. Now, does any other team have him
rated this high? No, But we don't care about other
teams because we're a twelve win team. You had a
win now exactly. That's how you get That's how you
get Mazzi in the first round, that's how you get
Schoonmaker at tight end in the second round, because you
tell yourself, look, if we don't take a tight end now,
(44:15):
there's not going to be another guy on that that
tier level when it comes back around to us in
the third. So you know we're yes, are we reaching
for a tight end, no question, But we're also a
twelve win team that has starters at every other position
and we need a tight end. So you start to
force yourself to take reaches instead of taking best available.
(44:38):
And I think that mentality really kind of got.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
Them in the position they're in now.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
Whereas this draft, it feels like they've returned a bit
to the old strategy, the old way of like, look,
Travis Frederick is available, Yeah we need like do we
Are we happy with our offensive line?
Speaker 3 (44:58):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (44:58):
But the crow boy, I'm not mad at the Cowboys draft.
And that's saying a lot because I love nothing more
than to run them over and back back it up
and run them over again. But yeah, I think you
needed more defense than y'all needed offense. How many guards
did y'all? How many you picked up a guard left tackle.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
No, uh, yeah, the tackle came in the sixth round
and he's probably gonna move inside to uh to guard
at the linebacker took the took the Shamar James in
the fifth round, one of the youngest players in the draft.
Another kid that was uh you know was was the
crown jewel of Billy Napier's first recruiting class at Florida.
(45:43):
Billy Napier, who I just who we ran into at
the Final four fan fest. Uh. But when when Napier
got that job at Florida, Schamar James was in either
his first or second recruiting class. I think it was
his first class. And he was a huge get at
the time. And he's barely I don't even he's twenty
maybe barely twenty one, one of the youngest players in
(46:05):
the draft.
Speaker 3 (46:07):
It's like six one, two thirty small, but he flies around.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
But you know, look, Lonnie, Lonnie defending picks. Don't you
defend those Jerry picks? Lonnie get better than that.
Speaker 2 (46:18):
No, there's the tattoo over that star.
Speaker 3 (46:21):
You can look at.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
You can look at the results and the you know
the fact that but let's talk about what everybody wants
to hear the Niners draft. Okay, so hold on, it's funny,
like it was a good year for you and I
to talk draft, because I was I was really worried
that y'all were going to take one or two guys
(46:45):
at the pick right before Dallas, because Niners were eleven,
Dallas was twelve. I was worried they were going to
be multiple guys in this draft where Robert Guy Dallas.
Speaker 4 (46:55):
Took over our draft. Robert Sala. We paid him, We've
got him back as our decordinator. And he said, defense,
we're catching defense. We got two defensive tackles. They're gonna
be starters. They're gonna plug the run. We had one
of the worst run defenses in the league, just behind
Vegas or like we were horrible because of our defensive end.
(47:17):
Jonathan Hargrave got hurt early, so he picked up two
defensive tackles. We picked up edge another edge to help
out Nick Bosa, and then we got my guy, my
guy to replace Drake Greenlaw from Oklahoma State, Nick Martin.
This dude runs. He looks like Drake Greenlaw. He looks
like a Navar bowman. Drake Greenlaw and I'm not a homer,
(47:40):
even though Oklahoma State is my team.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
You're gonna need it, though, because green Law just got
hurt again, and well, green Law is out, he's a Bronco.
Well who's the who was it that they just had?
Speaker 4 (47:53):
And that's the reason why we didn't. We actually flew
over there to try to get green Law back. But
green Law was an the shadow of Fred Warner, you know,
the greatest linebacker in the league right now, and he
just wanted he wanted to go to a solid D.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
And like Broncos is gonna have a solid D.
Speaker 4 (48:10):
But Greenlaw, they say, is not a long term injury,
but he is constantly getting hurt. And Nick Martin's coming
off of injury. But he played five games last year
and racked up seventy eight tackles in five games. So
this guy, when he sees a hole, he burst through it. Man,
he's got the hot He's got the fastest sideline, the
sideline lateral speed.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Like I go on stats, like I saw the stats
for his.
Speaker 4 (48:33):
Cat and I remember him last year, which is why
everybody thought Oklahoma State was gonna win the Big Twelve
is because we had studs on defense.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
You're more excited. You're more excited about the defender they
took in the third round than the one they took
in the first or the second. You haven't even mentioned
Alfred Collins. Collins, you haven't even mentioned Williams, who y'all
took the pick right ahead of Dallas, another Georgia. He's
(49:03):
gonna be He's gonna be a good compliment to Nick Bosa.
Speaker 4 (49:05):
But I think we needed that sideline to sideline linebacker
to plug the run game, which was our biggest Achilles heel,
and that's where we missed Drake Greenlaw. We had Devon Campbell,
but that guy was old and ended up quitting on us.
Speaker 2 (49:22):
That little beat.
Speaker 4 (49:24):
I've never seen himthing like that, but it's I'm excited
for this kid because he deserves it. And when you
see him play, you're gonna see that intensity.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
Did you watch him a lot? Did you watch him
at all? Yeah? Because I watched all. I was still
watching Big twelve because of the he was. He was
a big reason we got the last win over. Oh,
you in the bed loom, shout out to you Brown
for bed loom.
Speaker 3 (49:51):
You're a cowboy at the collegiate level, the true cowboy.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
That's a true cowboy right there. You can't be a
true cowboy from oak Oklahomainess. That's just not how that works. Uh,
real quick looking back before me because I want to
talk about of course Shador and Quinn and the bigger
storylines from the draft. Last thoughts on the Cowboys Real quick,
I mentioned a booker a lot uh as a Roku
(50:17):
kid out of Boston College is an absolute stud. That
should be I mean with Sam Williams still coming back
from injury. Of course, DeMarcus Lawrence out of the building
in Seattle now as a Rocky should storeself right in
uh and and be a nice compliment to Micah in
(50:37):
the past rush. And then the the real I think
steal of their first three picks is the Revel Junior,
the corner from East Carolina without if he hadn't blown
his knee, Yeah, he would have like a stud dude,
he would have been a first round pick without the injury.
And of course it's very Cowboys to take a guy
that has injury concerned. Hey, we got it, we got
(51:00):
we got him in the third round. He should have
been a first rounder. Was what was the Jayleen Jaylen Smith?
Thenbacker from Yeah, vander They still took vandersh high though,
Jayleen that was the first rounder. Yeah, Jayalen Smith was
a second rounder at the Notre when he came out
of Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (51:20):
But all of that being said a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
All that being said, the Cowboys team doctor is the
guy who did the surgery on Revel Revel Junior, so
they had as much insight into the condition of the
injury as anyone could have and they get him in
the third round. And you're talking about a Cowboy team
that uh. If you listen to Jerry's press conference after
(51:48):
UH Night two of the draft, he specifically called out.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
I'm a sicko for it. I was listening to it live.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
He explained the definition of woke, or at least what
that means to him. I might have to find that audio.
I'll bring that audio. We'll have fun with Jerry next week.
And that's exactly right, Jerry. But he specifically called out
Trayvon Diggs and the fact that after the first injury,
(52:18):
he didn't rehab correctly to the full, you know, didn't
follow the guidelines of what he should have been doing,
and then they get the second injury. That turns out
is worse than we even initially. Well, you know Jerry
does that when he gives you money like that, he
he'll call you out publicly more than he would if
(52:40):
you're on a quarterback unless you're a quarterback, Unless you're
a quarterback, you can call that called out Romo and Dack. Well,
let's be honest, you don't call you don't call out
a quarterback. You call out your cornerback, corner. That's just
the that's the hierarchy there, the low hanging fruit, not
not the top of the tree, but between those three,
Tyler Booker is gonna be a day one starter as
(53:01):
Araku's going to be involved in packages, if not on
the other side of the line from Micah and then
Revel Junior if he's going to start training camp on
the pup.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
But if he's healthy come.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Week one, he's your other starting corner opposite of Deron Bland,
which also they're about to have to decide are they
gonna give Bland twenty million dollars in his next contract?
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Honestly twenty plus million it's.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
Going as is the is that well that would be
sign a contract now is still rookie deal? That would
I mean the franchise tag number would be somewhere in
that ballpark. But if you're gonna sign him long term,
that's that's at least twenty a year. Yeah, you're gonna
have to give him at the corner market. And I'm
not sure. I'm not sure. One, I'm not sure I
(53:52):
would do that. Two, I'm not sure they're gonna do
that when you look at just everyone else they gotta pay, Micah,
they paid cd dex Dak's numbers outrageous. Uh, they're going
to have to. You know, you gotta take care of
Tyler Smith coming up. I'm telling you, I still think
I said it last time.
Speaker 4 (54:08):
They're gonna they're gonna tank the QB class next year,
even like if Arch comes out, he's gonna come out
of the Cowboys got anywhere close to a number one pick.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
And the only way they would tank is if it
was just unintentionally Schottenheimer being such a bad head coach
that they are terrible. I mean they're clearly.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
They're not. If they were tanking, they would be trading
away Micah.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
They're not doing that. They're going I mean they're You
look at the NFC East every year, it's a new
division winner. They were the division winner two years ago.
They're going, They're.
Speaker 3 (54:44):
They're far behind Philly and Washington at this point.
Speaker 4 (54:47):
Philly's got to rebuilt after the super Bowl. They lost
a lot of good pieces.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
Washington's the team that probably not betting favorite, but pretty
close to Philly. Yeah, and we'll see. We'll see the
second year with the Elik neighbors and the Giants.
Speaker 3 (55:04):
Well, and they trade up and take Jackson.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
Dart to fill the room with Russ Addam Jackson Dart
to Russ and Jamis that's that's I want Winston Man.
I can't.
Speaker 3 (55:15):
I got it.
Speaker 2 (55:16):
I gotta have. I got a fever and I need
some Jamis. You know what I'm saying. I feel like
he's getting a little too overexposed. I'm seeing a little
too much of Jamis at He's like on Bourbon Street
riding petticab. It was like fits magic whenever he did
the whole chain thing. Like, no one is more popular
than the backup quarterback of an NFL team. Yeah, unless
(55:39):
you're the backup to like Tom Brady. I mean, that's
oh sweet.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
No one is more popular.
Speaker 2 (55:45):
The last thought on the Cowboys before we move on,
you mentioned the running back. They they are going running
back by committee, but I'm not sure they have a
one guy that stands out as head of said committee.
They draft Jaden Blue, the Texas kid, the speedster, fastest
running back in the class. Take him with the thunder
(56:08):
and lightning. Yeah, Blue, And it feels like Javante is
going to be the guy, which raises more questions because
you let Rico Daldell walk out the door.
Speaker 3 (56:18):
Leave the organization.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Is it because the money between him and Javonte Williams
was not different? Like you you actively chose Javonte Williams
over the guy you've had in your building for the
last three years. Maybe Daddall just was tired of dealing
with Dallas.
Speaker 3 (56:35):
Yeah, which very very much could be possible.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
But I think you're as far as running backs you're looking,
you're still looking at a group that I mean even
the film offa the kid from Clemson in the seventh round.
You know he's a two hundred and thirty five pound
running back. If you're looking for thunder and lightning, there's
a guy that can provide the thunder at least, but
he's he can't.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
He's not going to play special team.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
You guys can ain't cut Vaughn Man. You're going to
add that, Mike Leach and just throw them over the
pile for that one yard.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
Yeah, that's our that's our secret, Mike.
Speaker 2 (57:06):
That's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (57:07):
Now it's there's going to be.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
It could be just like last year when they signed
a couple of running backs in the offseason and then
none of them made the team out of training camp.
I mean, I think the only person that is probably
guaranteed safe to make the team is Jaden Blue. And
then it's figuring out who's going to be that that
by committee alongside it. Wow, he's gonna stop fumbling the ball.
(57:30):
That's his biggest deal.
Speaker 4 (57:31):
Yeah, one or two cats that will make the first
or second round and running backs. And then now the
running back seems like a fourth or fifth round pick.
We picked up the kid from Oregon in the fifth round.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
Yeah, I like that pick. James never fumbled the ball.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Yeah, I like ball se time I was hoping would
be there for Dallas. Yeah, he's he's a gamer. So
Oregon throw. Oregon hasn't been known to put out some
good quality running backs. Bucky Irvin last year, Yeah, popped
a mid round. What was he a fourth round pick?
I think uh ends up, you know, showing nicely in
(58:07):
Tampa Bay last year as a rookie. So our teams
aside looking at the rest of the NFL draft, you know,
you know the draft has crossed over into mainstream. When
the roommate is asking me questions about Shador Sanders, it's like, so, what, so,
(58:28):
what's the deal with this? Why is he not being picked?
Everyone's like, I'm she was seeing.
Speaker 4 (58:34):
Everywhere, Like Dion was out there bumping his gums. He
wasn't taking his meetings seriously, but neither did as you
put it earlier.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
Oh yeah, Johnny, There's there's.
Speaker 3 (58:46):
A couple of angles to this.
Speaker 2 (58:47):
I think. First of all, if you're going to talk
as soon as you start making it a race thing,
it immediately is a whole different conversation. Now, now we're
talking about the the greater conversation of the role that
race plays in America, in modern America, And you could
(59:09):
quickly look at the top of this draft, it was
a black quarterback that was taking one to one first overall,
you're making it about race, but so that doesn't necessarily correlate.
But you mentioned Manzil I think it's also you have
to be you have to be sympathetic to the guy
(59:30):
that sits there and says okay. So it's not necessarily
just because he was a certain race, but you have
to at least hear the fact that if you say it,
it's bad interviewing, it's bad work. It's it's trying to
maneuver behind the scenes, telling teams and read the package. Yeah,
telling teams we're not interested in you, so don't be
(59:52):
interested in us.
Speaker 3 (59:53):
I think then you had.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
If we're going to talk about bad meetings with teams,
Johnny Manziel went through the whole process high on coke
and was still a first round pick. There's some privilege
always be closed. He was probably wall streating those people.
Speaker 4 (01:00:10):
He was out there just out of his mind, just
like selling himself, and like the teams were like this man,
I didn't he said, he set some gold.
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
It's called he has a ton of confidence. A kilo
of confidence. Yeah, yes, that's that's exactly what Johnny Manziel
had in college. Was a kilo of hell he had
at Kurkville TYV.
Speaker 4 (01:00:31):
I just think I think it was just a LeVar
ball like where he just hyped up his kids, and
Dion was there and they blackballed him. Not as bad
as Cat, but like it just seemed like they wanted
to put him in his place. And I think that Unfortunately,
Shador was drinking a lot of his own kool aid.
But you got Prime over there just sending there, pouring
(01:00:55):
the sugar in. He was making it thick.
Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
Let me ask you this, yes or no question? Yes
or no questions? Is Shador the better? If we're talking
just the football player of what we see as shaudor
on the field, the football player, is he the Is
he a better prospect than cam Ward cast a better
(01:01:19):
cam Ward's better? Is he a better prospect than Jackson Dart?
I think so? Is he a better prospect than twenty
six year old Tyler Shutz? Is he a better Proscrandon Weed?
Back in the day Gabriel Cleveland took in the third round.
These these teams didn't want the circus. They didn't want
the circus. That's all it was.
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
It was like, why are we going to take a
circus for this kid? Even though he did he.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
Win the Heisman two years ago? No, No, he was
he was a runner up. Uh Hunter won Travis Hunter
won the Heisman last year with him throwing you know,
all those touchdown passes.
Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
To ire has game skill and if he I believe
all these coaches g ms got together and they're like,
if we can humble this kid, he might be good enough.
And then you go to the where QBS go to
die Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Yeah, that's the most well.
Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
And even go back to the the live.
Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Shot of and Barry, their head coach and general manager.
As they're announcing the pick. Both of them are just
staring like their po ws in North Korea, just staring
at the candle and no celebration. I think I think
the owner got a hold of him on bingo. They
took them. They took the guy they liked in the
(01:02:36):
third round when they've got Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 3 (01:02:40):
Again, going back to last week, how are you going.
Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
To pick two rookies? It's you amazing from Cleveland, only
Cleveland's going to Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
That's that's all you can chalk it up to. When
when we talked well and it's also Cleveland. Cleveland had
no issue taking the uber confident, cocky Baker Mayfield one
one no so or as you said, cheriatric Brandon Whedon
(01:03:08):
back in the day. I think the bigger we talked
last week Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
Where I expected, God, that was such a bad year.
Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
Where I if you were asking me about this overall
quarterback class, I thought it was going to be someone
taken in the fourth fifth round that ends up being
the best pro. I didn't think that was going to
be Shador Sanders. I said, if, like I said, that
might be Dylan Gabriel. I'm not confident in it, but
(01:03:38):
that might be him. Well, apparently the Browns agreed with me.
They take him in the third round, and then they're
forced to take Shador. I don't wonder how much of
a chowing that GM and the head coach got from
the owner to be like, you took Dylan Gabriel over
Shador Sanders. See, that was I think they got there.
I think they got a one year contract right now.
Speaker 4 (01:04:00):
If they don't produce in one year or at least start,
Shod or Dylan Gabriel doesn't sit there and win them
ten games, right, that's what I think. I think they're gone.
So they're both gone.
Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
And here's here's the other side of that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
You know, they also have Joe Flacco in that quarterback
room who they think was up in uh New York.
I'm pretty sure he's in the in the browns room
because it's Sean Watson. Uh who who you're.
Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
Not gonna get? Yeah, you're right, you're right. I'm thinking
Russell Wilson's the old man in that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Oh yeah, yeah. So they got Flacco looking at had
a decent half year last year. If that coaching staff
goes with Flacco as a starter, or they go with
Dylan Gabriel, who they obviously liked, what's Dion? Like?
Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
This is the thing with Shador.
Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
When Dylan Gabriel has a bad game, is is Deon
going to react to that? Is he going kyper room?
They should move them to a wide receiver. See.
Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
I I just think when you talk about that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
Was for Lamar Jackson when they told yeah and Bill
Pollian said the yeah. I just think when you talk
about the headaches that you will put up with as
a backup quarterback, obviously Shador and Dion are not one
of those headaches many NFL teams are apparently willing to
take on.
Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
And I think the other part of that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Though, is is he actually better than a backup quarterback?
Talent and you were just trying to teach him some
kind of backhanded lesson. Yeh.
Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
Through this process, I.
Speaker 4 (01:05:35):
Think Gabriel hit the nail on the head. This is
not the NBA where Lebron gets to draft his son.
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
Yeah, no players bigger than the shit.
Speaker 4 (01:05:44):
I felt he could force his son to wear to
be a first rounder and was just basically calling all
the coaches and GM's idiots if they didn't draft him
number one. And they're like, yeah, this isn't You're not Lebron.
You are prime, but you're not Lebron.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
I don't think that's far off at all.
Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Quickly, that was a good hot take there, Gabriel the
other name, uh you know, that really became a talking
point amongst the quarterbacks. I mean, the fact that Quinn
yours is the last quarterback drafted in this class, his
seventh round pick. I don't. I'm pretty sure no one
was taken, No quarterback was taken after him.
Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
He goes three Dolphins, so.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
He gets to team up with the mad scientists Mike
McDaniel vaping on the sidelines like it's it's kind of
an ideal landing spot if you're Quinn.
Speaker 4 (01:06:36):
I mean, he does get the ball out quick. But
there's no mobility. There's no mobility.
Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
That's never going to be there anyway. Two of throwing
up crip signs and it's like it's not like too
as much mobility either.
Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
Anytime drafted, you're talking about someone that Shador could have
shined in in a town that is made for spotlights
and egos and stuff like that in Miami.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
I think that's why they didn't, like, we don't, we can't, Mike, Mike.
Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
McDaniels couldn't like, I think it would be great.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Yeah, I think they would have been that should have
been the pick. Yeah, I don't disagree if they weren't,
I mean, they weren't going to take a quarterback high anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
But you got to sit there and you know, you
know t was to was hit away from retiring, but.
Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
I think that hit might have already happened.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
If you're being honest, he's playing on borrow time. Yeah,
you know the the Unfortunately, if you had told me
a year ago when yours would lead Texas to two
playoff appearances, would uh declare, would would keep his starting
job over arch Manning would declare for the NFL draft,
(01:07:52):
I would have said at worst, that's I mean, that's fourth.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Round at worst.
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
Same thing, fourth rounder. I mean, we're talking about a
guy like if we're if we're grading, everybody's looking at
your head. But if we're grading attributes, this was a
guy that was the highest rating you can possibly have
coming out of high school at the most important position.
And all he did was not succeed to the fullest extent,
(01:08:17):
but two playoff appearances for Tyxons that it never been there.
Speaker 4 (01:08:20):
Total of five teams maybe that needed a quarterback that
they could plug in this year.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
That's a big part of the I don't think all.
Speaker 4 (01:08:27):
Five teams aren't looking ahead to next year's draft class
knowing that they're not going to be playoff contenders.
Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
Vegas, well, okay, and Jets. That's the other thing.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
You know, Vegas Tom Grady Mentor Shador and they passed
him more than any team in the draft. They passed
him like eight times. The you know the they end
up drafting the kid from North Dakota State, Cam Miller.
The UH Steelers needed a quarterback, they end up taking
Will Howard from Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
If you had told me Will Howard and a guy.
Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
From Mason Rudolph is still there a guy from North
Dakota State would go ahead of Quinn. I would have
told you that's not happening. That's insane. So the Quinn
fall was extremely surprising. And it also if you believe
the reporting, you know, he could have made anywhere from
four to eight million dollars if he had transferred to
(01:09:26):
like Oregon. Oregon was apparently hot to try to interest
him because they're trying to get Ten's boy. Well yeah, yeah,
until they until they ratted him out to hype the
coaching staff, but didn't did that did we go over?
Speaker 4 (01:09:40):
Like he lost two million dollars in that because he
went to UCL Yeah, taxes and yeah what No, you're.
Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Not Kansas City shuffle right there.
Speaker 3 (01:09:49):
Boy, You're never winning if you're moving to the West Coast.
Any other surprises, I.
Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Don't like that Maybe in college. No, no, the West
Coast can they can? They can have all of that
land to themselves as far as beautiful. The only other
real surprises of the first round, you know, we talked
about Tyler Warren the Penn State tight end, where I
liked the idea of man, if he's available at twelve
(01:10:17):
and I'm Dallas, why not it's another receiving option. Well,
it turns out the kid from Michigan Loveland, he ends
up going before Tyler Warren anyway, So I thought that
was pretty shocking. I felt it was pretty I felt
it was pretty unanimous that Tyler Warren would be the
first tight end. But he was an all around tight end.
Speaker 4 (01:10:38):
He was like a George Kittle or you go out
there and blocks, he'll sit there and you know, and I.
Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
Can't help out on the run, where Warren is more
of a I mean, he's he's no slouch when it
comes to physicality and he's run blocking, but he's way
more of a receiver for sure. And you can't even
make the argument that it's uh, you know, the Bears
took Loveland, so they're choosing between two Midwestern tight ends.
It's not like they it's not like they went with
(01:11:05):
the local guy or anything. You know, they they had
their choice between a Penn State or a Michigan guy.
They're in Chicago, and they took the Michigan and they
still got to developed a run game up in Chicago,
so they.
Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
Chicago still got block a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Yeah, Chicago is a fun team to think about with
their you know, with Caleb Williams and some of those
weapons now, but they're still still a ways away. The
only other real surprise, I mean, obviously we mentioned it
earlier Jacksonville's big trade to move up to get Travis Hunter.
But Atlanta, Atlanta overpaid like crazy to get that second
(01:11:40):
first round pick. They end up giving up their first
next year and a twenty twenty five second round.
Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
Pick, which was their Day two pick this year.
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
So they gave up a first rounder.
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
First rounder next year plus their second round this year.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
And I think they also gave up like a seventh
maybe and got back a fourth or something like that. Ok.
But who was the pick? Atlanta ended up taking the
edge rusher out of Tennessee? What was a Pierce junior? Oh? Okay, Yeah,
after they they went defense that's good.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
Yeah, and they had you know, that was clearly their.
Speaker 2 (01:12:21):
I mean, that was their their defense last year was historically,
if it wasn't for Dallas's bad defense, more people would
have been talking about Atlanta's bad defense. And they took
with their first pick, they took the kid out of
another one of the Georgia kids, Jalen Walker, and then
trade back in to get Pierce Junior there in the twenties.
(01:12:41):
I think it was twenty six, so a massive price
to pay. But if I mean, if those two guys
are wrecking havoc in the backfield for a decade, you
don't you're not really thinking, You're not really especially four
years before you got to pay him. Yeah, yeah, exactly exactly.
But over over all, Cowboys, it was a boring draft.
(01:13:03):
But sometimes boring is best. Yeah. I think that's kind.
Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Of where when you say boring is because a lot
of d line and lins. The ball is a boring
game outside of outside playmakers.
Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
Playmakers, right, But what wins football games.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
The boring positions.
Speaker 2 (01:13:21):
Boys up front, they got better in the boring positions,
still have holes, still have questions, still.
Speaker 3 (01:13:28):
Have needs, like receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
Where they end up. You know, we talked about them
potentially getting a receiver with their first pick. Well it
turns out there they didn't take a receiver all draft.
So but if you're again some of the tea leaves
coming out of Dallas, there's a certain thirty year old
free agent, former Cowboy receiver who is still on the
(01:13:54):
market who there might be some mutual interest. Amari Cooper.
Oh Cooper which i'd be smart. But Buffalo also said,
thank you, Amari, but we don't need you last year
in the playoffs. So I'd like to see exactly how
much he has left. But he's still only thirty. That
he's the truth, he's the next Edelman.
Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
I don't think you're wrong. There any other final NFL
draft thought.
Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
Nah man waiting to see you know, just you know
when Cam starts and all that goes, so so we
can table we can table football for the meantime.
Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
That that is a perfect lead in because when I
say this is a lightning round, I'm going to try
to make it as lightning fast as possible because I'm
missing I'm missing the Stars Avs Game five. Give me
that Shakira Grito Hockey, LG. You ready for the lightning round?
(01:14:52):
Hit it boom starting the NBA Western Conference. Yeah, it's
it's a It is a match made in heaven for
the casual basketball fan. Right now, you have six and
seven seeds both leading their series. He got the t
Wolves leading the Lakers now three to one. And as
(01:15:12):
much as I hate, that was a foul, so, no question,
no question, as much as I hate calling games that
aren't technically elimination games must wins.
Speaker 3 (01:15:23):
Yeah, in the NBA, if.
Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
You're up three to one in a series, you win
that series ninety five percent of the time, definitely, So
it's not if anyone's going to be the five percent
that comes back. It's a team that has Lebron and
Luca on it and one of them just Jji jj.
Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
Reddick is catching so much heat for leaving his five
starters in for the whole fourth quarter, not saying that
they gassed out. And you can look at Lebron's shooting
percentage in scoring points from the first half to the
second half and how it depleted because it looks like
he's tired. He's pulling up for three pointers when he shoot,
he's in the first half where he's going to the hole.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
So that's gonna be a great game.
Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
So it's Denver with the miraculous dunk, the miraculous dunk
with the joker throwing it over.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
There, Aaron Gordon hitting his first buzzer beater of any
kind of his career. Yeah, that ties up the series now,
so that one is to two, Nuggets clips Lakers down
three to one to the t Wolves, but I think
the best series in the Western Conference by far has
(01:16:31):
been the Nuggets Clippers series is a great series, but
the most entertaining Rockets Warriors has been. Man, I love
it because you got Dylan what's his first name? Uh yeah,
Dylan Brooks.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
Dylan brook You got first, he's the he's the young
Draymond Green.
Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
And then you got you got the young.
Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
Third of the skills of DRAYMONDE. I mean, he's in
your head.
Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
He's like if Draymond actually wasn't a generational talent for
all of the other things he does rational talent. Calm
down with that, Draymond.
Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
I mean, he's all Dylan Brooks is not a Hall
of Famer. Draymond is a Dylan That's what I meant.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
No, we we know Dylan. We know Dylan Brooks. No,
the analytics don't actually support that. No, we know Dylan
Brooks is not exactly He does a good job of
self promotion. But there's a reason Memphis, a playoff team,
was okay with getting rid of him to another up
and coming team in the West. There's a reason this year, Man,
(01:17:33):
they're gonna or they take all those picks and end
up entering the sweepstakes for a generational talent like Giannis
or Kevin Durant. Two guys that now are going to
be the most talked about Devin Booker, not.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
Those two.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
You know, Joannis and kd are going to be the
names we hear about the most outside of whoever is
going to get Cooper flag at the first pick.
Speaker 3 (01:18:02):
Both of those guys. Katie is getting traded.
Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
I would say that confidently Jannis, it would force. It
would be because Jannis forces his way out and mentioning
all of that obviously on the heels of Dame. We
got the confirmation earlier that was a that was a
torn Achilles. You could see it instantly. I hit me
with it.
Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
A conference man, the Knicks, yes, and the Pistons.
Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
What a series. This throws it back to like.
Speaker 4 (01:18:33):
When they are beating each other up, getting elbowed up
and down.
Speaker 3 (01:18:36):
It would be a lot better if it was to
too right now, like it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Potentially should be after that no call at the buzzer yesterday.
That was brutal. God man, if that that series goes seven,
that is gonna be an epic Game seven. The most
annoying thing about it was, unfortunately that was an ESPN
game and not a TNT, so I had to listen
to idiots stephen A. Smith and Kendrick Perkins bon Ozen's own. Uh.
(01:19:02):
One of my favorite things is when Kendrick says something
stupid and then someone on social media puts out the
super cut of him just getting roasted by guys in
high school because he can barely move. He's slow as
hell and there's some white boy like me that's getting
around him in the post and he can't keep up
the listening to stephen A and Kendrick Perkins talk about
(01:19:24):
that Nicks Pistons finish, where both of them were like,
I mean, it should have been a foul, but the
game was physical all time and.
Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
Just shut up, man, that's not If that happened to
the Knicks, they would be the biggest ingo.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
You've gotta call a foul, especially it doesn't matter if
it's at the end of the game, Bengo, your foul
is a foul, is a foul. Blah blah blah. Oh
my god, stephen A. Smith Man, do not run for president.
That drove me. I will stick it ice pick in
my ears. Unfortunately, Oh my god. Yeah, I don't think
he's taking political advice from us, but just hearing the
(01:20:01):
way that game was talked about. Because it was Detroit
that got screwed your nail spot on.
Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
If that had been New York, then it would have
been all.
Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
It would have led ESPN for three the next two
days until they play again. And Cunningham had such an
open shot. Man, that guy has come out, come up.
But what was he first round three years ago? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
One to one? Yeah, DFW kid yeah, Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
Oh, he's he's coming into his own man. I like him.
As far as the other the East is not nearly.
I mean, now you know Celtics had of commanding three
to one lead over the Magic. There's been some questionable
officiate in that series. Milwaukee, Milwaukee's done because Dame's out.
Indiana's gonna win that one.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
And I honestly, even for the second.
Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
Rounders, I'm excited for the second The second round will
be good because Pacers, I mean, the Cabs swept, they
they finished off, they were up by sixty at halftime.
Speaker 4 (01:20:55):
Earlier tonight, Kenny and Shack were just roasting them.
Speaker 2 (01:20:59):
I have time. You mentioned second round of the East,
We're gonna get Caves, Pacers and we're gonna get potentially
Nick Celtics. That's a second round matchup, and then whatever
happens in the West, LG give me an interstitial like that.
Turning to the Frozen Pond Playoffs, You as much as
(01:21:24):
we talk about how great the NBA Western Conferences over
times has there been, by every single series in the
West is tied to to every Every single series is
tied to too. That includes My Stars and Avs. That
includes the Kings, the Kings Eilers series. If you've been
(01:21:48):
watching that, the Oilers in game three, then they come
back from three to one.
Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
That was last night.
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
In Game three, the Kings had the lead. It was
a high scoring game, five or five to four. Edmonton
scores to tie it. The Kings coach, I don't know
what they saw. I don't know who on the staff
told him to challenge it. They challenge for goalie interference.
There's nothing close to being even questionable.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
The goal was good.
Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
The problem in hockey, when you lose a challenge, you
immediately have to go on the penalty kill. The other
team gets a power play if you get a challenger on.
So it's great, there's actual repercussions for slowing the game
down to make.
Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
Us watch a replay.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
Hockey is the best sport in the world, and there's
been there's been some sick hits. We've got suspensions, we
got clearing brawls like it's baseball. But you go back
that Game three, Edmonton ends up scoring on that next
power play and they end up winning that Game three.
So the Kings probably should have won Game three. And
(01:22:56):
then last night they give up. They're up three to
one in the third, end up giving up the game
tying goal with twenty nine seconds left, and then dry Sidle,
the leading scorer in the league this year, gets the
winner in overtime. So that's that series, very slim margins,
should have been a King sweep, but instead, uh, Connor
(01:23:18):
mcjesus and the Edmonton Oilers have a tie series to to.
Speaker 4 (01:23:22):
Going back from one of the guys that are like,
there's never going to suspend him because he's like Hockey's
golden boy right now.
Speaker 3 (01:23:29):
Yeah, there's been so Kua Chuck ended up not getting.
Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
Yeah, he ended up not getting And I'll tell you why.
He the hit he put on the guy. Yeah, the
guy had been playing the puck. The guy had the puck. Yeah,
And he he passed it off, but you could at
least argue Ko Chuck was finishing his hit like it
(01:23:53):
was dirty.
Speaker 3 (01:23:54):
Not dirty, it was.
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
It was a heavy it was yeah, the way the
body was propelled like it's it was not a uh
it was a playoff. It was a playoff hit, right,
But it was not a suspendable hit like the other one.
Even if it was a spindable hit, I heard name
spind them. No, they weren't going to it, especially after
(01:24:16):
the way he played his ass off for America in
the Four Nations. But all right, hit me again.
Speaker 4 (01:24:22):
Oh man the kid from Atlanta's defensive coordinator. Okay, calling
shore everybody. Oh it's class list, Oh is here? Hey,
guess what that shit was? Funny?
Speaker 3 (01:24:38):
Okay, two things, two things can be true.
Speaker 2 (01:24:41):
Two things can be true. I would never do it,
but that it was funny. One it was funny, but
also two yeah, I keep waiting that fin like he
he full scent it.
Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
He could have put on a you know, scheme ass
he could have said not. He was like, no, oh
my face on this. I don't want to be nun.
I'm posting it. Bring me all the smoke.
Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
So it ends up. It ends up being the twenty
one year old son of the Falcons defensive coordinator that
did the prank call. And the bigger issue, like, it's
a prank call. It's on the number out, no question,
and it's a prank call. The world is not ending
because of it. I get that there's a lot of
there's a lot of rush to talk about Internet. Internet
(01:25:27):
is undefeated. But at the same time, if you give
like the phone should or had was specifically provided to
him from the NFL, it was a number that no
one knew he had unless you were connected to the ONEFL.
And why would the defensive coordinator have Well, they get
the number for every process, But I mean I would
(01:25:48):
assume that's the GMS. That would be like, yo, if
anybody's making the call, it's going to be the GM
or the head coach, maybe the offensive coordinator. Maybe that's
not the defensive coordinator. Maybe that's the issue. Maybe Atlanta
gave the numbers out to too many people. Maybe that
should have only ever been owner and general manager and
head coach. I think the kid did a service. I
think I think if I think if they docked Atlanta
(01:26:14):
would be stupid, that would be way too much but
some kind of fine, you gotta do something. You gotta
do something to prevent that from happening every year, because
it's just it's not a good look for the league.
As funny as, I.
Speaker 4 (01:26:27):
Think the league should find the Atlanta Falcons as a
whole because that was a botch from the top down.
Speaker 2 (01:26:35):
Yeah, and I think I think that'll be the that'll
end up being the outcome. LG.
Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
Give me an interstitial.
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Yea, yeah, hellsial. That is actually that is a perfect
perfect time to talk about any of you boys. Catch
Bill Belichick's CBS Sunday Morning interview, LG, do you have
a clip of that coming right off from robe? Just
(01:27:01):
so not what he was wearing one of his He
was wearing one of his patented sweatshirts that looks like
it's fifty years old, dressing up for his Sunday Morning
news interview. But the biggest look at that. Look at
that cool hipster rip right there. Oh yeah, she's dressing them.
The biggest takeaway is the fact that the more we
(01:27:25):
learn about this girlfriend he has, the more questions I have. LG.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
Fired that off. This is from CB Morning.
Speaker 7 (01:27:34):
Were treated with dignity and respect when you were let
go by robber Craft.
Speaker 1 (01:27:41):
Yeah, what was a mutual decision for that?
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Would for us the part.
Speaker 7 (01:27:45):
Ways he said fired right, shirt.
Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
It was a mutual decision.
Speaker 6 (01:27:51):
That's the other change for Ben first of all, twenty
four year old Jordan.
Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
The fact that he like that is so awkward.
Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
It was a mutual decision. It's a mutual decision. He
sounds like he's on the podium right now, you know
what I'm saying that postgame interview. Another part of the interview.
They asked him, They're like, well, you didn't even mention
you didn't even mention Robert Kraft in the book anywhere.
And he just sat there for like six seconds of
silence and then just goes correct, correct, Like what else
(01:28:22):
you got? All right?
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
This is the This is the gold though.
Speaker 6 (01:28:24):
With the girlfriend, Hudson his creative muse As he writes
in his book, Jordan was a constant presence during our interview.
Speaker 7 (01:28:36):
Jordan right over there. Everybody in the world seems to
be following this relationship. They've got an opinion about your
private life. It's got nothing to do with them, but
they're invested in it. How do you deal with that?
Speaker 1 (01:28:47):
Interrupted never been too worried about what everybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
Thanks, just to try to do what I feel like?
Speaker 7 (01:28:54):
How did you guys meet not talking about this?
Speaker 6 (01:28:57):
Yes, he's the topic one of them is comfortable commenting on,
though Hudson has recently posted about it on Instagram.
Speaker 7 (01:29:06):
You joined instaface. As you put it, I love that.
There's some great pictures of you and Jordan where you're
a fisherman and she's a mermaid. It's charming. It's a
different side of you. What's the reaction been like, what's
it been like to have these different photos. There's another
one where you're doing I know, you're not into meditation
or yoga or pilates, you're balancing Jordan on your feet
(01:29:30):
and she's doing kind of the Titanic post.
Speaker 2 (01:29:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:29:35):
So I'm I'm on some of those social media platforms,
but honestly don't follow them.
Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
Okay, that's what he does. So cringey man, dude, I'm
telling you, the more you're.
Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Not answering that, oh man, the more the more that's
been released from the interview too. Apparently she does, she.
Speaker 3 (01:30:00):
Interjected multiple times.
Speaker 2 (01:30:02):
Fucking love it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:03):
Have you seen her on the field in high heels?
It's going up talking to him, he's coaching's ridiculous. And
then she goes back and talks to I don't know
if there was like the GMS or boosters or something.
And then she goes back and talks to him more
like she's sitting there being she's she's sitting there delegating
his personal like what do they call him for the actors,
(01:30:24):
you know, like the people.
Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
Who oh yeah, I mean she's she's working as publicists
personal assistant. She's doing it all, you know, handies, yeah,
literally doing it all. She is keeping that man young.
Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
The uh, the biggest I mean, the more you learn.
Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
So what we have been told is the you know,
they met on a plane ride when she was twenty
years old. I believe like she's twenty four and he's
seventy three. They have emails where she's emailing you in
sees Athletic Department saying people are calling Bill a predator
(01:31:05):
on Facebook? Are we going to allow that that she
is more questions, more scientists, due.
Speaker 3 (01:31:14):
More questions, the more.
Speaker 2 (01:31:16):
Whipping it up down load dude, you know what I'm saying,
give me one more interstitialence. Lastly, we're not going to
spend more than thirty seconds on this. There is no
way in hell one hundred grown ass men could take
down a gorilla.
Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
That's it's not happening.
Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
It's not you miss come from you haven't well, you
haven't been you haven't been online this past No, it's
the hypothetical. One tweet went viral. This is this is
the world we live in. Bat you and just like
break all your bones. One yes, I watched congo one
(01:31:58):
guyrilla is in the miss makes one tweet saying there's
no way one hundred people could be up could kill
a gorilla. So that's one tweet. It goes viral, and
now all of a sudden, the New York Times is
doing a piece on it, The failing New York Slimes.
You've got it on CNN, You've got it on news Week,
(01:32:20):
you've got it on USA.
Speaker 4 (01:32:22):
The bear because if you get a bear on its back, yes,
if you get a bear on his back, it's got
in motion. But a gorilla on his back, he's picking
you up with his feet in his hands.
Speaker 2 (01:32:32):
There's no way to strap him down. You have a
better chance against a bear. You have zero chance against
a gorilla. If you took one hundred of the biggest
offensive and defensive linemen in the NFL right now, they're
not doing jack to a gorilla. And also, it's not
like it's going to be one hundred guys all at
(01:32:54):
once on a grilla. It's like ten waves of ten
at a time.
Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
It's not the gorilla fear that he would put in
those ninety guys after dismantling and ripping apart those first ten.
Speaker 3 (01:33:07):
Yeah, Lgpen I assume you agree.
Speaker 5 (01:33:11):
Oh absolutely, I've seen I've seen that Chimpanzee show on
HBO where they ripped people's faces off.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
Yeah. Yeah, and and that is that is about unfortunately,
one eighth the size of a gorilla exactly. Not well,
I'm glad stupid. I went to I went to the sanctuary. Here.
Speaker 4 (01:33:31):
There's one over in Pharaoh. Oh yeah, yeaheah, those yes
man support support. Yeah, those those guys are scary in person. Man,
Like I had one piss on me, dude, Well that's
spit on me. Well, that's you know what that is.
That's like that monkey started. That is a you got
to apologize to the chimpanzee.
Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
That is a that is him disrespecting you and letting
you know where you stand in the pecking order.
Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
You're on his turn.
Speaker 2 (01:33:56):
I was about to find the rock and throw that
his ass. Now, all that being said, I'm pretty excited
to see the gorillas return to the San Antonio Zoo.
Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
So you should go there and do a bit, right, Yeah, Yeah,
I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
I'm sure Tim.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
I'm sure our buddy Tim at the zoo is probably
itching to have one hundred volunteers show up to fight
their news, their newly purchased gorilla.
Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
Well, on that note, LG.
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
Get us out of here. I have got to get home,
Actually not get home, I have to get to the
beverage establishment of my choosing to watch a little playoff
hockey three one Big Start, God dang Big Stars Abs
game tonight. Rest of the week TBD. We're still working
on things. Yes, we might be might be having some
(01:34:45):
live midweek shows, not just Monday movie again. Soft opening
with us, Stick with us, Appreciate you all riding along
till next time. Peace.
Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
What do we say about.
Speaker 2 (01:35:00):
Holy that you just stay home with her? Yeah,
