Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lid bean lie Bean, lie be, lie be, light the
beam and get the AC guy on the phone immediately.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hot.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
It's a hot one. Folks. Welcome into the Wednesday night
edition of the Sports Cave with Biggest Puma. I am
your host, the Biggest Puma himself, sometimes affectionately known as
sometimes not so affectionately. Depends on the time of day
or the day of the week. But a last you
were tuned in again to our I wouldn't say fledgling,

(00:46):
I would say growing. I would say blossoming. Operation. Oh yes,
here from parts unknown in the greater North side of
San Antonio area, where we're gonna be talking about this
a lot over the next forty two days. We are
officially forty two days away from the NBA Draft, or
at least Round one. The NBA is trying to copy

(01:09):
the NFL and doing Round one on one night and
Round two on the other night. But here's the deal.
Having Round two on its own night makes If you're
gonna do that, just do the lottery, do the top
fourteen picks on one night, then do the rest of
the draft.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
One came like, I mean, there's fifty two people on
a football team, but there's only twelve on a basketball team.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah, fifteen technically or twelve active, thirteen active fifteen technically
on the roster, and nights every now and then you
get your Jalen Brunson's that we were watching before we
went live here. Every now and then you get your
second round pick that actually becomes somebody rarely an All Star,
much less an MVP candidate. But alas, the NBA dedicates

(01:56):
an entire night to the second round of the NBA
Draft that will be June twenty six, But we only
care about June twenty fifth because after after Monday night,
now we know exactly where everybody will pick, trades pending,
and we've got a lot to talk about. We talked
a lot Monday night. I felt Monday night was an

(02:17):
extremely conflicted night for me as as a man who
has completely disowned everything regarding the Dallas Mavericks in my life.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I go to I'm not gonna go back like a
beaten husband. No going back to the abusive wife.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, how often does that happen? I would switch? Yeah,
I was about to say that's equality. I'm a feminist.
You need to be a feminist. After Monday night, I
told you. I never turned to my back. I never
felt like the maps are always good. We're gonna talk
a lot of NBA because we didn't get to any
of the playoff updates. It got massive injury news now

(02:57):
that we have to talk about. Uh. And we really
didn't talk about the rest of the draft lottery Monday
night because we were so focused, hyper focused on the
fact that the top two picks were both going to
be made by Texas teams, and obviously the fact.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
That the MAVs should never have got that number one pick.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
No chance. I mean again, like, I will never believe that.
I will never fully believe it's rigged, because that would
literally involve like federal charges of tampering and fraud.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Would get Congress business values be steroid, yeah, being.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
You know, inflated or intentionally uh devalue black. Like, I
don't believe that's what happened, but it's really hard not to.
It's really hard not to think that was what played out.
But going back to Monday night, the MAVs will always
be my childhood team. They will always be the team

(03:56):
I had in my area growing up. That's that can
never change. When did the franchise start in the eighties
seventy nine, somewhere early eighties, yeah, early.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's how much I paid attention to
basketball in my early youth.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, I was. I was one of the few thousand
people that would still go to games in at Reunion
Arena in the nineties and all of that. They started
with the Green Jerts, right, oh yeah, and they were great.
They actually yeah, yeah, they should consider they need a
full rebrand. But the you know, the part of me
that loved the MAVs growing up is never going away.

(04:34):
The part of me that is emotionally invested in the
MAVs is completely gone forever. That Cooper Flag thing doesn't
change it. I'm gonna endou the Luca got you that
hard one thousand percent, Oh my, a one thousand percent.
It was a absolute betrayal of an entire fan base.
And they're okay, perfect example. The amazing the business side

(04:55):
of it. They lost three quarters of a billion dollars
in projected revenue when they traded Luca. Now that they
drafted Cooper Flag, they just got half a billion of
that back overnight because he has that much value to
the franchise. So again, there's a part of me that
is upset they won the draft lottery because I wanted

(05:16):
them to feel a little thing he wanted. Three months later,
after trading Luca, you've been handed this live line.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
How are we doing, LG? We just went dark. It's
just me Heyla.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Oh that means do you get yeah? Can we get
pulling back on? You get all the screen time tonight?
That's actually better because.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
It was.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Pointed out to me in a comment that we went
fifty minutes Monday night before we actually got to the
NBA talk. So hopefully tonight we can get to it
a little quicker. But as always, we start with what
I watched last night, and I think you can already
guess what it was.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Uh the Dallas It's that it's that Star hockey, and uh,
you know the hattie with Winnipeg having home ice advantage
last night's game was Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
I'm I'm never the guy that's gonna say no game
is a must win ever, unless it's an elimination game
like there's just you know, if you're if you're up
two to one in a series like the Stars were
going into the game last night, that's not a must win.
If you're down two to one like Winnipeg was. That's
not a must win game because you're not going to

(06:34):
be eliminated.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
But you've already put this stat out there that sixty
you know times, if you're doing down one three, you
have a forty chance to win.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
But you still have a chance. And even with the
even then, you know, the if you're down three to
one in a series in the NBA, you have a
four and a half percent chance of winning. That's still
it's a chance. That's it's happened. Is that have done it?

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Right?

Speaker 1 (06:58):
The Spurs did it with I think the Pistons. We
do that in the finals. We were down three to
one sounds right after some home and I know.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
I know Lebron with the Calves did it, but that's
because Draymond Green did a Draymond Green and you know,
decided to technical amount and get suspended for a game.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, we've got I've actually got some Draymond in the
lightning round because he got hit with another uh what
you might call it a a fine and but this one,
I think you might actually have a point. But last
night it was Stars up two to one in the
series Game four in Dallas. Still got to travel back

(07:38):
to Winnipeg for Game five and if there's a Game seven,
so you don't have home ice if you lose last night,
the series is tied two to two. It's a best
of three series at that point, and two of those
three games are in Winnipeg. So do they do two
three two? Uh? They do two two one one one.

(07:58):
So but that was game five last that was four.
That was game four. Yeah, that was the second three
to one, yes, yeah, game four, okay, Yeah, so Dallas
ends up winning. Ironically, math on this test. Well, it
doesn't have to be math if you don't try to
do it the uh, you know, we spent all that
time Monday night talking about the legend of Miko ranton

(08:22):
In and all the records he's setting and how great
he's been since he got traded to Dallas. Well, last night,
first of all, it was the first time all of
the the full Finish Mafia as they call themselves, all
of the Finnish players that Dallas has. We're all healthy
and active.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
The Finnish Mafia, they themselves that.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
So they have the stars have the starting line for
Team Finland. Yeah, yeah, there it is, there, it is.
You got to brush you up on your hockey. But
last night it was, Oh, they are extremely silly, and
I kind of love it. I kind of love everything

(09:03):
about that culture, the great Kimmy riichen In. But last
night it was another one of the Finnish Mafia, members
of Michel Granlind, another guy that they picked up right
before the trade deadline. He's been traditionally been a glue
guy his whole career. Everywhere he's been, he's had.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Some super Bowl player.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Yeah, he's had some bigger offensive seasons at different stops,
but I think he's played for like six teams in
the last eight years, seven eight years. He's bounced around
a lot, but he's always been productive and he's always
been a guy. He's kind of I think the best
way to put.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
It is maybe like the Robert Oy or one thousand percent.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
He's a guy that is great to have on a
team that has winning aspirations, but on a team that's
not going anywhere. He's just he's kind of just the guy.
But you surround him with great players and all this,
he can be the last piece. He can rise to
the moment. And last night, Buddy, out of nowhere, we
got the hattie. We got another hattie in the series,

(10:06):
Michael Granland goes for all three last night and the
Stars go up three to one. And I know people
that have you know, followed me, listened to me for
a while. One clip, one former drop you will know
and recognize. We used it every day, used it all
the time. It was the great Anton Hudobin guy that

(10:30):
used to play like independent league, like below minor league,
not even you know, like how in baseball they have
you know, official minor league and then and then you
have your independent league, okay, unaffiliated that's like the Dominican League.
Well or like the Fort Worth Katz or the Cleboranne Railroaders.
They were all independent league teams. So Hudobin played for

(10:54):
a minor league team in Houston for a while. I
think it was the Houston Arrows where he latched on
with a with an organization and slowly worked his way up. Well.
Going back to the Bubble year twenty twenty, when the
Stars made the Stanley Cup Final, it was Anton Hudobin
that led them at goalie uh and we got this

(11:17):
glorious drop as he is decked out in full chain.
He just got It's like there they give the you know,
to the to the player of the game, and then
you've got to say a few words, Well, Whodobin is
uh Kazakhstani, He's from Kazakhstansi he basically okay, yeah, I mean,

(11:38):
for lack of a better description, he's a bit. He's
a bit. Yeah. Well he's you know, fluent spoke mostly Russian.
But we got this greatness after his performance in a
game in the twenty twenty bubble.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
You have that. It is just a work chain too.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
In the hard.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
So you so.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Great. Everything about it is bond villain and the passion.
I mean, everything about it is spectacular.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
And I think I've kicked some people out at bars
that said the exact same thing as they're, well.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
You don't have to go home, but you gotta get out,
you bet. Yeah, they had uh that was there because
they were in the bubble. That was him saying we're
not leaving Canada. We're not leaving the we're not going
home yet, because they had just won the series and
advanced to the Stanley Cup finals. So last night at

(12:43):
the game, Hudobin back in the arena and we got
this greatness on the on the PA mic happing up
the crowd.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
You're not losing, They're not.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
After that, I.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Will tell you that stadium was rock Oh my god.
After that second goal, Oh yeah, I was like, man,
it was going crazy. And then when the hattie came,
like you just you saw the camera shaking because the
stadium was probably shaking itself.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
We talked about it a little on Monday night where
I was trying to convince you, like, if you haven't
been to a Dallas Stars game time, it's for the
money of any I mean, granted, now the Rangers have
the air conditioned stadium, which is pretty nice. But if
you're traveling to DFW for one specific sporting event, well,
now now the MAVs are going to have Cooper flags

(13:38):
and you might want to see him play too. But
if you're going just for the love of sports, yeah,
go to a Stars game and I mean obviously playoffs.
So you telling me it's one of those premier stadiums.
It feels it feels like it feels like a crowd
similar to like a European soccer crowd. I mean, it's
it looked like it looked like it it's it's wild

(14:01):
and again a bit of a homer, but but compare
the crowd tomorrow night. Now, granted, Winnipeg's gonna be going
crazy because they're facing elimination.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
They're gonna be booing our anthem and everything.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
And they're still Canadian. I mean they You're supposed to
be nice. It's a polite booing. It's a polite from disrespect,
but boom. But you have to understand, we have to boo.
I don't know why that Winnipeg. It's because LG was
telling me about his trip to Quebec and Montreal. So
now I've got French Canadian on the on my brain.

(14:37):
That was like, that's a Winnipeg's on the west. Winnipeg
is dead north of us, dead north. You just go
straight north man, right above the Dakota's Huh yeah, ye,
dead North. Uh it's uh is it's more of a
It's not as cowboy as Calgary, but it's it's more
rural than.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Remember I told you about that BlackBerry show that had
Sweet Dennis from Always Sonya. Yeah, like I think he
was trying to move the whole like the owner of BlackBerry.
Long story short, he tried to buy a hockey team
and move the Pittsburgh Penguins. When they said the one
thing he couldn't do was move them. I think he
was trying to move them somewhere right above the Dakota's.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
I mean, Winnipeg's had a team lost, a team, got
a team back, like they've They've been a multi stop
NHL city for a while. So they're in Oakland basically, Yeah,
basically it's too valuable of a city to not try
to keep making it work. But hopefully Stars now up

(15:41):
three to one in the series. I I don't anticipate
a win tomorrow night, just because you know hockey, I mean,
like we are talking about the stats, you know, hockey.
Hockey team playing for its life is unlike any other
playoff sport. I mean hockey. They're going to give it everything.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
They have that guy with you, you might just win
it again. Well I'm the system.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Yeah, have Anton's returned to Cana going home? You are
going home? Yeah, elsewhere in the NHL. Keeping a close
eye on that Oilers Vegas series. Uh, Oilers now up
three to one. Of course that's who winner of that
would be? Who plays winner of Stars Jets? So uh

(16:26):
don't want I don't believe in sports jinxes, So I'll
just say it, so.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
You don't want to talk about the if who is
their next opponent?

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Nothing I say here tonight is going to change the outcome.
I know any any NHL game played over the next month.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
So I don't know how many times I said no
team has ever come back.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
From three in the Boston Yankee series.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
But it had nothing to do with you saying it.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
It was me.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
No, It had everything to do with the players on
the field and the managers making the decisions, and the
calls to the bullpen, the bull pen arms not holding up.
It had not with the nine tails. That's one of
my biggest sports pet peeves. The guy like I have
a friend who if the game isn't going good, isn't

(17:13):
going well through the first quarter, he changes his seat
in the in the room like he's like, I can't
sit there, and.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
I bring a couple of hats. I bring a couple
of hats, I bring a couple of jerks. Yeah, but
that's that's football, and no, that's played only in playoffs.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Will I do that?

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Oh, only superstitions only apply to playoff games. That it makes,
it makes, it makes solid logical sense. I pissed off
the baseball gods man. Well, as I said Monday night,
the sports GUIDs just continued to deliver for us because, uh,
elsewhere in the NHL, we have a toss up of

(17:48):
a series. I haven't checked to see what the score
is tonight. I saw Florida had already scored a couple
of times, but it seems like Florida's gonna take that one. Well,
if you remember, I mean last year it was you know,
Florida one at all, and they've only gotten better. Uh,
they ended up beating Edmonton. Where it looks it looks
right now, it looks like we're probably headed for a

(18:10):
rematch of the Western Conference finals last year of Stars
and Oilers, which is a great you know, takes me
back to the nineties in my childhood, some of those
playoff series. And then on the East side or on
the Eastern Conference side of things, the Panthers look unstoppable
and it looks like they're looks like they are headed

(18:31):
right back to the Stanley Cup Final at four to
oh now, okay, yeah, yeah, that's that's to be expected. Uh,
and the Canes are leading the Caps three to one.
The Caps had the best record in hockey this year.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I was about to ask you that, like who was
who was The favored ones going into the.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Capitals were the best regular season record, Winnipeg was second.
Dallas might have held on to third. I don't think
they got pasted for third win. Dallas and Winnipeg were
going back and forth and then Winnipeg pulled away at
the end when Dallas had the injury. So Dallas is
no cinder rot. No. I mean, they've again, they were
in the conference finals last year. You know, they've they've been.

(19:11):
They were in the Stanley Cup finals in twenty twenty
five years ago.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Really since that run, and they picked w boy Miko.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Yeah, Miko. I mean this is the team had, you know,
they've they've had, you know, like Joe Pavelski was there
for for the runs over the last four years. This
is his first year retired. So they've they've lost a
few guys along the way, but they haven't added anybody,
like anybody close to Miko throughout this run. So hopefully

(19:43):
he was.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
The last piece.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Hopefully hopefully, or hell again, maybe it was Grandland who
they picked up a month they traded the Star the
same day the MAVs did the Luca trade. The Stars
did the trade for Grandland and Ceci. They're the defensemen
that they also got in the same deal. Who's play
started every game or you know, been active every game

(20:06):
of the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
So so you got Dallas. It's like, sorry, we did Luca,
but we did something with the Stars. All calm down, to.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Be completely honest, like the Stars did it all for
hockey reasons, no question, But there's a lot, there's a
there's a big part of me that thinks the Stars
looked at They're like, look, the MAVs are are losing
fans by the hour, and we iron is hot. The
iron is hot, and no one's ever you know, you're

(20:34):
not gonna convert. Yeah, Like, my grandma loves basketball. She
played half court basketball in Toler, Texas as a high schooler.
You know, back when the girls were only fit to
play half court, right they exactly uh And she was
a pioneer. I mean she was. I put the photo
out earlier of the hoop I learned to shoot. That's

(20:55):
that's my grandfather. Like, yeah, that was I learned basketball
from my mom and my grandma because they were both studs,
were really really good at the sport. But like, you're
never going to convince my grandma to shift her attention
to hockey over basketball, you know, like they weren't winning
her over by making the grand Lands and Miko trades.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yeah, it's not like me, where like baseball, football is
my top two, Basketball is obviously her top.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
One because yeah, a little outside of her beloved Cowboys,
but you got it. You know, my grandma's seen that
she's like the Cowboys. Well, something in the water is
the Tom Landry and the night and the success of
the nineteen seventies Captain America Roger Stallbach, Like that's her Cowboys.
Everything she's had to deal with under Jerry is it's

(21:47):
tested her fandom. But every Sunday, every every Monday, Thursday
or Sunday, she's there, smiles and glory hopes. Yeah. So
Game five Stars Jets tomorrow night up in Winnipeg, A
another one of these. I love. One of my favorite
things about the first couple of rounds of the NBA
and NHL Playoffs knowing that just about every night for

(22:11):
like two weeks, two and a half weeks straight, I'm
getting a live sporting event that matters tipping off at
or dropping puck at nine pm.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
You're getting a pack stadium as a night out. You're
getting that energy, dude, that is it's like perfect for me.
It's like when you like when I saw the when
I saw ballast Man, it just it hyped me up
seeing all those people just go crazy, and it reminds me.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
I remember I was in.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Game five of the finals, the first finals twenty thirteen,
and we didn't win. When Manu Ginobili just had them.
He went back in time, had himself a game and
they started changing nobly so loud. The floor started vibrating,
and I will never forget that atmosphere.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
And when I see it on TV, it just brings
me right back to that. Yeah, you can't replicate, you know,
for all of the bad basketball you watch through the
first eighty two games, once it gets to the playoffs,
Ivan it gets serious. Yeah, it's impossible to replicate the
high that you get from that something not something I

(23:16):
watched per se, but something new that I've been listening
to this week. I want to do this every now
and then. So the roommate and I have this bit
where each month we buy each other an album, so
like you know, a vinyl. So it's how we grow
our collections. She buys something I know or she knows

(23:37):
i'll like, and vice versa, I buy or something I
know she'll like. So that being said, are any of
you boys familiar with the VIAGRAA boys? They look strong? Okay,
let me ask you this, based off just looking at
the album cover? What what kind of music do you
think we're getting here?

Speaker 2 (23:59):
I would say techno. I would say something like that,
like dub dubstep.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
I'll give you the back.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Uh well now you now, now you got that looks Americana.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
So I'm thinking punkish.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Okay, a little closer.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
We got the raisin, you got the California Raising Californie.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
That's okay, there you go.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
Okay, So I will say l G is probably the
closest they are. They are a Swedish punk band, but
the lead singer is the only American in the band.
He's a dude, uh California kid named Sebastian.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Who's with an American name.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Well, he's Swedish descent, so he growing up in in
so cal ends up getting into getting into some ship,
you know, getting into some drugs and whatnot. You know
what story, He who hasn't cast the first will not
be throwing any rock that's correct. So his parents send

(25:03):
him to go live with like an ant back in Sweden.
So the first thing he does is he gets real
deep into the Swedish punk scene and he starts to
go on all these club shows. You know, Swedish punk
is like it is punk like crazy over there, like.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
Death metal.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Oh yeah, so this is this is more When I
say punk, it's a lot of it's a lot of
like traditional what you think of when you hear the
word punk. But like LG was guessing, it's more like
Devo punk or like it's synthesizers very much so like
synthesize like Devo, kind of kind of new way. Little rifts,

(25:43):
like little corny like jingle, very tight, short rifts, just
repeated over and over.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Was it the Swedes that did the what did the
Fox say?

Speaker 1 (25:52):
I think they were Swedish.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
The one band that you know from like my like
high school era, the one Swedish band that really crossed
over was the Hives. They were huge, and so these
guys tour with them a lot. But they just put
this new album out last two weeks ago and it
finally arrived on vinyl to our house and I don't

(26:19):
say this lightly. I think Divo.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
So she ordered it.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
She ordered it straight from the always order from the
from the artist, so they get the money. The very
cool Divo is probably the closest, uh comparison. But it's
like if Divo and Butthole Surfers formed a band together.
So you've got these Devo like riffs, but then you've

(26:44):
got like a sky a surfer, the butthole surfer kind
of voice style. It's very monotone, it's very almost talkative. Yeah,
we can't put but I I highly, highly, highly highly
suggest I'm sure they'll rise.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
To the occasion.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Oh you think, God, I knew we weren't. I knew
we weren't going to make it through this without at
least one. I would say, they're there. It won't go
soft on you, man, They go hard. There's two I'll
give you half.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
That was a rebound.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
That was the rebound that might have been offensive goaltending. No,
I don't say this lightly. They they have creeped in.
They've only been around since like twenty seventeen eighteen, but
they are I think they are firmly in my top
twenty bands. Hold it together. They have just shot up

(27:39):
my personal rankings, and they are firmly in trench inside
the top twenty of my all time band.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
You've seen you seemed engorged on their music.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Now we're did you pull a hamstring stretching? So bad
for that one? Now we don't. Oh man, now we've
after this. Yeah, I think I'll do that every Now
that's good.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Last thought, that's good local artists stuff. Man, Well, and
it's you they do.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
They tour in and.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
They've gotten big now that they played this year, but
they used to. Like their last American tour, they were
the opener for Queens for Queens of the Stone Age,
so it's the same kind of rock vein. You know.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
I was like, I knew a couple of little local venues.
I was like, man, we might be able to get
them here.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Not at this.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
I wish I wish the You mentioned local though, like
they're a band that should be played on a local
radio station, like it's it's what, it's a band. I
think the city. It blends well with the punk metal
leanings of saying we have a college radio station because
it ain't going on kiss Yeah no, trust me, no,

(28:50):
those those they're not they're set they're set for the
next forty years. Yeah, that's classic rock at this point. Really, Yeah,
they're still the Trinity Radio station, the one Mara Ron
used to run when he was a student. There, know, LG.
I forgot I neglected to mention at the top. Tell
the I want to get your thoughts on a video game.

(29:12):
You told me you played that. I'm about to jump
into but before we do, tell the good people how
they can get a hold of us and how they
can support.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
Well, excuse me, you can get a hold of us
by chatting in right here on a sports.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Cave Live on YouTube.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Make sure to hit that subscribe button, hit that like
button as well, so we can get this show in
everyone's algorithm. And if you'd like to leave a tip,
we've also got Buy me a coffee dot com slash
sports Cave Live and shout out to the one dude
who just bought three coffees in there.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
He says, cheers, boys, appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Cheers right back. I'd love to hear it.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Thank you man, you get a nip for a tip.
I'm playing.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
I was about to say that might put us on
that might put us on another platform.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
No one wants to see that LG.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
I think it was. I think it was off air Monday.
I think it was after we had finished the show
when I asked you the the game that I have
had multiple people send me text or you know. One
one friend of mine actually called me, which is rare
to get an actual phone call these days, but he

(30:26):
he swore to me that this game that just came
out is now possibly his favorite game of all time.
And I'm talking. Make sure I get the name correct
of this game. It's a French developed game, but it's
a French developed game, but it's a Japanese RPG and

(30:47):
it's called Claire Obscure Expedition thirty three.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Oh my god, yes it's so Japanese.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
But also French to.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Excuse.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
A good movie on Friend District B thirteen, solid, Yeah,
solid Parkour movie.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Yeah, I don't look the French dave us Justice and
Daft Punk. I don't mind my but we saved their
ass in w W two. Oh who is this joining
us now that we have let me tell you?

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Let me tell you.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
So you have you played any more through it? Because
you told me you played through the prologue and it
was genuinely emotional yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
I actually my live streamed it on twitch at a
at LG's house on Twitch and you can check that out.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
And I almost, yeah, I almost shed a tear at.

Speaker 5 (31:38):
The end of the prologue and I haven't played it since,
but I need to get back up on there. And
I don't want to give any of the details away
because the story is just like gripping and it's a
it's a real it's a turn based strategy game, and
I'm usually not into those, but the story alone has
me wanting to play more.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
I just need to find the time.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Yeah, Sensitive Soul, you did it was it was pretty great.
You sure you just weren't sweating in this house.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
The AC is struggling right now.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
It's one hundred and fifteen in San Antonio. But Caps
got it at like sixty at.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
His house all day.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Man sixty nine come on, only appropriate the sixty nine.
The thing that jumped out to me most about Uh,
you know, you mentioned how great the story is so far.
It feels like as we all wait for you know,
Grand Theft Auto six next year, can't wait, or you know,

(32:36):
the new Borderlands coming up in the fall. I think
it's September or.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
The Open World Mario Kart that's coming out on the fifth.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Of June, exactly exactly as all of these big budget
games are, you know, on ahead on the docket. Somehow
this little French developed game they sell it for fifty
dollars and it might be the game of the year.
So like there's rumors that GTA might cost one hundred
dollars by the time it's released next May.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Nowadays you have to spend like three hundred dollars on
in game content anyway.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Is the game even gonna be finished. They're gonna have
to release like twenty patches for it.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
That Yeah, that's not something. It's coming out for Christmas.
Stars they're solid Yeah, yeah, rock Stars using solid Like, yeah,
they'll solid like a Viagra boy out.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
We're not going to Cyberpunk US.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
No, no, no, they're not. They're no CD Project Red,
although they've gotten a little better about it.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
But what platform was that RPT little game that you
were crying on, Lawrence.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
It's on everything.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
It's on every except Switch. I've got it to.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Watch that prologue and just make fun of you.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
It feels like a game you're going to you to
call me and be like, oh, my god, less like
a dog, unless it's like a dog that dies. And
I don't know, Siler, I don't know, how would I know? No,
that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
French RPG.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
They have it on PS like yet RP.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
It's on game Pass for those of you who have
Xbox and have Game Pass, so you don't have to,
you know, actually buy the game.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Yeah, I have it. I have it downloaded on the
PS five and I'm something else I was talking to
LG about. I think we're about to get back up
and rolling on the old gaming twitch streams because it's
the summer and we're about to have some nights where
the only sport on TV is baseball and I love
my Rangers Big Series. It's starting against the Astros tomorrow.

(34:30):
But who's at home in Arlington? I think pretty sure,
pretty sure on that.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
We could drive up there.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
I want to see that stadium, but it's already one
hundred and three degrees out, so that's not gonna be.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Yeah, they saw they had the roof closed. We're actually
gonna talk their Rangers are playing the Rockies tonight and
had some Rockies thoughts in the Lightning Round because that
they're just such an embarrassment to the game right now.
But before I turn it over to y'all for what
y'all watched, the last thing I have to admit one
of my biggest vices in life is like I was

(35:07):
raised on c SPAN. I was raised watching c SPAN.
I was raised watching every My dad flipping around to
every not just locked into one specific news channel, he
all of them. It would be we'd go five minutes
on CNN, five minutes on Fox, five minutes on CNBC, MSNBC, whatever.

(35:28):
Like he just bounced around because he wanted to. You know,
he was a he's a he was mayor at twenty
eight years old. He's a city councilman. Again, now where.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
I'm we're trying to do your age right now, because
I like, twenty four hour news wasn't really a thing
until the OJH.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Buddy. My parents had me quite young, quite young. Yeah, dude,
my dad is twenty years older than me.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Oh man, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
So it was it was a lot of you know
a lot of watching nineties cable television, watching episodes of
Crossfire right after Sports Center, you know, stuff like that.
So as I find myself now at thirty nine years old,
YouTube TV rolled out the quad box, and it's oh, yeah,
it's been great for all kinds of sports, but usually

(36:15):
at first it was just all the same sport, so
you could get four college football games on at all
day on Saturdays. It was great. And then they rolled
it out where okay, well now we'll let you. Now
you can watch I've been doing quad boxes of the
NBA and NHL playoff games. Spectacular, great, did that yesterday,

(36:35):
two of them. It's perfect to not the quad but
the double yeah, double boxing with those the uh they've
rolled out a cable news quad box.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Oh how much crap can you just absorb? So here's
the problem, like just the talking heads just so the
for it.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
The for it includes Fox, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, but
then BBC News. So it's really yeah, that's my if
I'm actually watching, I watch them for entertainment. Liney bastards
think of us, Yeah, well not much these days, buddy.

(37:16):
They although their own presidents coming down a bit of
a hardline stance on some of their own uh issues
that liberals have let run crazy over there. But the
it's always fun to see the juxtaposition of what the
different ones are talking about. So like while Fox News
is running whatever kind of cover or attack on Democrats,

(37:38):
you know, MSNBC's doing the same thing. In reverse. CNN
is trying to be like, no, look, I swear we're
not biased. We just want to be we just want
to report the news.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
They start playing Bill maher on Saturdays.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Exactly and now and then in the bottom right corner
is an actual news program, not an entertainment program, and
that's the BBC. And so normally I keep the audio
on BBC, but I just like to see what the
other stations are fighting amongst them.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
The graphics, the graphics goes so hard because the news
used to be just the news and then you get
the reporter and then you might get a picture here
and there. But nowadays it's graphics with a ticker at
the bottom.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
Oh yeah no, and then they got the countdown.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
It's like it's they're just trying to come at you
with so much theatrical you know, it looks.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Like a twitch stream. It looks like a professional to
like one of these, like live golf. Yeah yeah, like
live exactly exactly. But I I I think, uh, you know,
on the other podcast I do with the Texas Radio
Hall of Fame or Bama Brown. I think I told
him at the beginning of the year. One of my
New Year's resolutions was to watch less cable news because

(38:46):
I'm just a junkie for it. The quadbox has destroyed
that resolution. You watch that, you watch the quad box
with the news. The first thing I do every morning,
I wake up and I turn the quad watch this. No, buddy,
this is this is This is thirty nine year old
version of my dad.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
This is like, Oh, man, dude, I wonder if there's like,
when there's some serious update, which one gets it first
and you're sitting there just like taking teck. Fine, yeah,
FanDuel is gonna come out with which one's gonna drop
it first?

Speaker 1 (39:16):
I was gonna fact check poly market. Poly market you
can bet. And that's another thing. I gotta stop betting
on politics. I have a much better tracker. I have
a much better I have a much better hits record
betting on sports that I do politics.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
You got a problem.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
We all knew that, but please support our show. We
will take your sponsor. Yeah. No, We're more than happy
to do a livery quickly before I give it to you.
It's funny you are wearing a Bob Ross shirt tonight
because last night at the bar, when when the roommate
and I were watching the hockey game, it was a
three TV setup, left TV NBA for right TV NHL,

(39:54):
and right in the middle was just a twenty four
hour Bob Ross chain. Oh see Samsung and it got Yeah, Sam,
It's exactly what I was on my household for about
four years. I switched it to Pond Stars recently just
because I just so the other one. The other one
the bar has been playing, which is one of my
favorite pastimes in life, watching episodes of Cheaters and trying

(40:15):
to figure out what part, like what Golden Corral in
Dallas he was taking a side piece to you because
it was all you know, Joey Greco somewhere in DFW.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
I just remember I am getting stabbed on the boat.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
It's like going white, life flashing before his eyes. But
he was a master black belt at least he said,
you don't want to mess with me.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
Yeah. But the Bob Ross shirt is hilarious because last
night I got into a conversation we might have a
hustle on the side there. I got into a I
got intrigued at the idea of buying a Bob Ross
painting because doing all of those episodes all those years,

(40:58):
the paintings have to be out out there. Oh they
gotta be. So I will say, I'm going to test you, guys.
The lowest I found that I could have purchased last
night at the bar. It was still too rich for
my but it was like eight grand. It's like eight
thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Yeah, man, I thought it would be like at least
like maybe a grand or two.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
That's kind kind of because he did so many of them,
so many he had to do something on his spare
time too. I told the roommate last night, if there's
one for under a grand, I'm I'm buying it right now,
like and this. You know, it's probably a good thing
I didn't find one, because I would have woken up
in the morning like eight hundred and fifty dollars for
what above buck you would have overdrafted a thousand percent

(41:44):
at least on my account. The uh, but the interesting
what do you take? I want to hear both of
y'all guess what do you think the most expensive Bob
Ross painting ever sold was?

Speaker 3 (41:57):
Oh? Do you go first? On prices?

Speaker 2 (41:59):
Right? I'm a master one hundred thousand dollars one hundred
k am I going under?

Speaker 3 (42:07):
Are you playing prices right now?

Speaker 2 (42:08):
Now we'll get closest to the pen Alright, I was
gonna say zero, but.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
That's just too much. Well, let's go zero, let's go
I'm gon quarter mil I'm going to fifty. I was
as shocked as you guys are about to be. The
painting from his first episode ever, the first episode of
Bob Ross Paints or whatever. Just Bob Ross ten million,

(42:40):
ten million.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
I wonder how much I don't he made ten million
dollars not that painting.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
Yeah, poor Bob if you saw the son, but like
poor Bob's whole estate.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
He did mountains better than Bob, as he like to say.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
Well, and all Bob wanted to do was I just
want to paint.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Y'all.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
You've heard the story of like each paintings where he
has a dead body.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
Of course. Yeah, there's so many. There's as many great
Bob Ross conspiracies as there are Chuck Norris jokes.

Speaker 2 (43:11):
No, man, you know, he took out some people in Vietnam.
He just he couldn't handle it anymore.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
Man. He did what he had to, and we saved
the French there to no I'm kidding. What else? What
else y'all watching? Or what else y'all watch?

Speaker 3 (43:24):
Well, before we move on here, that's old lg earlier.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
He came by because I stayed up toil man, I
could not go to sleep last night, and I watched
probably like the whole season of Ted Lasso.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
Yeah, I can't believe that. How do you stay up
that late watching that crappy of a show.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
It's not that bad, man, I mean, it's the same joke,
but I watched two and a half episodes.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
The first season is okay, but then it gets old.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
It's really but it gets to like it also has sports,
so like while they're doing like the cheesy episodes of
the character.

Speaker 5 (43:59):
Coolest thing to me, it's the coolest thing is seeing
the culture over there. That's yeah, I mean, after the
joke's old, it's just seeing the different culture.

Speaker 2 (44:07):
But they do have some episodes like where Beard, the
assistant coach, goes off on his random trip where he
beards great.

Speaker 4 (44:15):
I'll give that. That's the best character in this show.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
My favorite character, Beard is amazing. And I got to
right where Zaba.

Speaker 2 (44:21):
They got Zaba in the season three, and then I
finally started passing out when the lights.

Speaker 4 (44:25):
Seven am watching Ted.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
I think popping Town. I think that's worse than me
watching a cable news quad box is watching multiple hours consecutively.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
I'm not concede that. I'm not can see that there
might be a debate.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
But didn't they aren't they bringing they're doing another season?

Speaker 2 (44:46):
Yeah, I think they're doing. That's the one I was
gonna like. I was like, let me be watch it
because I'm gonna watch the last season to see how
they like wrap it up and stuff, you know. But
it's it's a good quality show, and I like the
roy Kent roy E f and Kent.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
Look, I think we need like throwaway television is good.
It feels like everything has become either it's either ultimate
prestige television, breaking bad or correct, or it is really
trash reality like Love Island where you.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
Feel like you play on your phone while you're watching a.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
Thousand, like that middle ground of just throwaway television. But
it's still good. I mean it's entertaining. I have a problem,
like middle class is gone.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
Like I watch a season like a like a Quada
quality one, like a breaking well, breaking bat I'll watch
it all the way through. But like I was, like
in season five of Sons of Anarchy, and then I
just stopped watching it. You know, it's probably when it
started getting a little dumb, Like I never finished.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
I think that's another show I watched two and a
half episodes of and said I got it. Yeah, I'm good.
I think I see what happened to Jax teler Man.

Speaker 2 (45:59):
No man, People said I looked like Opie back in
the day when I was a little skinny and a
little longer hair.

Speaker 1 (46:04):
I didn't know if you were going old Opie from
Andy Griffith or whatever.

Speaker 5 (46:12):
LG you got anything? Before we move on, what am
I watching? I started rewatching A Cooks Tour. I don't
know if you've ever seen that.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
Oh, educate me.

Speaker 5 (46:21):
It was a travel show on the Food on the
New York Times Food Network in two thousand and two,
is what the network was called.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
It became eventually became the Food Network. And it's a little.

Speaker 5 (46:33):
Young man called Anthony Bourdain's first first show ever.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
There he goes there.

Speaker 4 (46:38):
First show ever called a Cook's Tour.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
What do you get? What are you watching that on?

Speaker 4 (46:42):
It's on Prime?

Speaker 1 (46:43):
Huh? Yeah, I never remember to go to Prime. I
never think about it.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
I watched Prime.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
There's a good show though it's a little fantasy RPG.
I my friend put me on the Wheel of Time books,
fourteen books that are like between.

Speaker 4 (46:59):
Where do you find time to watch all these damn shows? Dude, like,
well that one seven am. You don't sleep?

Speaker 1 (47:06):
I like my TV. Man, Well you're hating on the
French RPG game, but you're sitting here watching the Wheels
of Time.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
The Wheel of Time. First off, check yourself. I invested
three years of reading those damn books. Three years of
reading those books, man, I swear like when my friend
gave it to me, I was like, oh no. I
was like, I need a good book to read. And
he's like, here, start this one. And I read it
and I was like, man, that ended on a cliffhanger.
And he's like, yeah, there's thirteen more. And I was like,
you mother, Yeah, so there's three years of my life.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Yeah, he's got you roped in, he wrote me in. Man, God,
I bet you read all of the Red Wall series
two back as a kid.

Speaker 3 (47:46):
I don't know what that is. I didn't.

Speaker 2 (47:47):
I didn't read when I was can I read like
I got the George Costanza thing where it's like I
hear my voice in my head and like it will
put me to sleep.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
Oh yeah, inerl inner my life.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
I read it a fourth grade level, most likely, but
it's getting better, like a book takes me a long
time to read.

Speaker 5 (48:05):
Did either of you all see the the pictures of
Nicholas Cage and Christian Bale as John Madden.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
And now Davis? Yes, yes, yes, yes, I was like, man,
I saw that right before I came over here and
almost sent it to you and be like, but you
always yell at me to be like, Cage looks just
like dude, Bail, Nick, Both of the b.

Speaker 5 (48:25):
Looks good too, Yeah, Bail, but you need to expect
Bail to look the part the Cage.

Speaker 4 (48:31):
I mean he put on some weight for the role.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
No, man, I mean that's like the Penguin. Like if
Colin Farrell can look like that in the Penguin, they
can anybody look like anyone. I don't think he put
on wait, I think that's a fat suit.

Speaker 1 (48:43):
I feel like if Nick Cage just hadn't done eighty
percent of the movies that he did, we would view
it like he's an account of adaptor. He got in.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
He started buying like dinosaurs, dinasaur, he bought castles.

Speaker 4 (48:56):
That he bought that haunted mansion in New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (48:59):
Yeah, he was just spending money.

Speaker 2 (49:01):
And then I think he started getting divorced and losing
all his asses, and they're like, you got.

Speaker 3 (49:06):
To make money.

Speaker 2 (49:07):
He barri started going making these straight to uh straight
to DVD movies.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
I worked at Blockbuster when he started doing that, and
I'm like, man, are so bad.

Speaker 1 (49:14):
I was like, man, Nick K is putting out a
lot of content.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
He still is.

Speaker 5 (49:18):
No, it says right here in this article I had
of it, says Nick K just taking a break from
making movies to to make yet another movie, the Onion.

Speaker 1 (49:29):
Yeah, exactly, the bee that that kind of checks out. Well,
Uh well we'll close the door on what I watched
and move into well and dag nabbit. We still it's
fifty minutes till we get to the main segment. I
swear we're gonna get tired going back, going back to
Monday night. Of course, we you know, talked a lot,

(49:52):
UH talked a lot of hypotheticals of what could now
you know, some options, some routes that are available, uh
to to turn this thing into a contender overnight. Uh
a lah Jannis trade. But now, if reports are to
be believed, and I think one of these reports is

(50:14):
more believable than the other. The first one we got
Tim McMahon on ESPN today saying, with absolute certainty, the
MAVs will be keeping the pick and of course taking
Cooper flag.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
I mean, Nico, I don't think he can. I don't
think he can pull his wild card out again.

Speaker 1 (50:34):
Now. I think he's lost he's lost control to just
make a move without having someone else involved. LG. You
have that clip. This was the great Tim McMahon, uh,
who's taken a lot of flak from MAVs fans over
the years. What's he is he? Is he a MAVs
beat writer or is he Yeah, he's kind of chefty, No,
he's a he's a Now I think he technically he

(50:56):
used to be a MAVs beat writer and he still
covers the MAVs. But I think he's a Southwest NBA
report with that number one overall pick? Now, does Dallas
keep it? Do they trade it for a guy like Jannis?
What are you hearing?

Speaker 3 (51:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (51:11):
And I understand that there's gonna be speculation about Johannis,
this type of historically dominant player potentially being available on
the trade market. What I can tell you is Patrick Dumont,
the governor of the Dallas Mavericks, recognizes the gift horse
that was delivered this franchise that, frankly after the Luka
Dontas trade had massive business concerns, had significant long term concerns.

(51:35):
With him owing the picks from twenty seven to thirty,
either outright or via swaps, he recognizes just how much
Cooper Flag would help mitigate those concerns. Again, it's a
gift horse. The Mavericks are not going to look in
the mouth. The Dallas Mavericks will be picking Cooper Flag
with the number one overall pick.

Speaker 3 (51:54):
So he could have shortened that by like thirty words.

Speaker 1 (51:57):
Well he's got a stretch for the for the TV hit.

Speaker 3 (52:01):
Yeah he's not.

Speaker 2 (52:02):
They're keeping Flag, so's the governor.

Speaker 1 (52:06):
There's a governor in like a governor in each team.
They don't they don't call them owners in the NBA.
Oh my god, Well now that now that the trump
is major because owner ownership has a certain connotation that

(52:26):
if we just call them governors own you with Chicago
makes the world a better place if we just call
them governors. Yeah, it's uh, I mean, it's the NBA
what he expects. So that's about as clear cut as
you can as you can get. When it comes to
the maps, they're gonna take Cooper flag Rick Welt, the

(52:47):
team president, the guy who built the Warriors or helped
build the Warriors when he was there, get Curry, Thompson, Draymond.
He also in an interview basically confirmed, Yeah, look, we're
taking flag. Let's we're not trading the pick. We're keeping
it and everyone knows who we're going to pick. So
number one pick seems like it is off the table

(53:11):
for any negotiations because there was also the rumor that,
you know, the Spurs might try to throw some kind
of uh, you know, godfather deal at the MAVs to
to swamp picks to move up to one to get Flag,
MAVs get two, and you know, some a lot of
other picks and other assets. But it doesn't I think

(53:32):
that was a pipe dream to begin with, like they
I mean, he would have got rosy. Of course, they
can't do anything like that right now with especially seem
like straight sabotage of course it would.

Speaker 2 (53:45):
It would only furthers well, it would only further the
conspiracy that the new owners really do want to move
the team to Vegas.

Speaker 1 (53:54):
The NBA is not letting Dallas lose a team. Vegas
is going to get an expansion team, but it's not
going to be a team that moves to Vegas. So
also as we shift to the Spurs pick, moving all
the way up to second, I listened to the Zach
Lowe Show. He's back with the Ringer, back with Bill Simmons.

(54:17):
That's great basketball rider, better basketball rider than podcaster, but
great at both. And he was in the room for
the draft lottery Monday night when the actual when they're
pulling the ping pong balls. So the way it works,
there were the combination of ping pong balls that had

(54:39):
been drawn left it where there was a possibility that
like nine teams could have been the team to get
the number one pick. And out of those nine teams,
every team had one ping pong ball in the final
drawing except the Spurs. They had three, so they had

(55:01):
basically a twenty two like twenty two percent chance.

Speaker 3 (55:05):
So we should have got them.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
It should have, Like odds would say, I know, I
know again it's only going to fuel further conspiracy. But
the Spurs technically, when it got down they draw four
ping pong balls, and when it got down to the
fourth one, they had the best odds of any team
that was still an option for the first pick.

Speaker 3 (55:29):
So that raised the hair on the back of my head.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
Again. Let the conspiracies fly. But as we heard today,
we spent a lot of time talking about what the
Spurs might do with that number two pick, that second
overall pick. But we got this report today that might
put that fire out pretty quickly.

Speaker 3 (55:48):
Yeah, I think I saw the same thing.

Speaker 1 (55:50):
I bet you did it where everywhere it went viral.
I think we're sold Harper. We're sold on Harper if
the report is to be believed.

Speaker 2 (55:59):
Which keeping Castle, Yeah, keeping Castle, and then we get
you know, we could get three Rookie of the Years
in a row if flag you know, if Dylan Harper.

Speaker 1 (56:10):
Is that man, Yeah, it's it would be.

Speaker 3 (56:14):
It could happen.

Speaker 1 (56:15):
Oh no, no question, it could happen. LGD, you have that.
I think I sent you that clip with the Spurs reporting.
It was all they're all reporting from the combine, So
you know you were asking due Oh yeah, I was
watching a little bit.

Speaker 7 (56:28):
Yeah, Yeah, Dylan Harper is going to be the number
two pick in the draft. I am ninety nine point
nine percent sure about it. He looked also really really good,
tested very well, shot it well. His body is in
a great place. He's lost fifteen pounds in the last years.
He's also grown. He has measurements comparable to those of

(56:48):
Dwayne Wade coming out of college. The San Antonio Spurs
are signaling to teams that they are very excited about
the opportunity to draft Dylan Harper. They are not pursuing
trades from what we're hearing. They think that they can
play Dying Harper together with Steph Kassel and Dearon Fox
in the same backcourt. Obviously, teams have some question marks

(57:10):
about the amount of shooting on that roster. That's something
that they are probably going to a dress at a
later stage. Dylan Harper is the second best prospect in
his draft. He will go second.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
I believe I feel like they could run with that,
you know, like they would be a fast paced, energetic
something that he looks like he had a good defense
style sideline to sideline, you know, and.

Speaker 1 (57:34):
Again in any other draft, class of the last you know,
outside excluding Wenby's class, but taking any other draft class,
going back to Zion, he would be the number one
pick in the draft. If it wasn't the Cooper Flag draft, Yeah,
this would be the Dylan Harper junior draft. He is
that clearly, he is clearly why not take them? He's

(57:57):
clearly a step below Cooper, but he's clearly a step
above everybody else in the in the class.

Speaker 2 (58:03):
So as much as I would love to have Gianni's
and you know, have the rim like the Twin Towers
back and you know you have that, he has playoff pedigree,
he has a championship pedigree. I am excited to have
young blood in the Spurs that are going to be
able to run with the OKC, with the Houston Rockets,

(58:24):
with whoever La gets gifted again and again and again.
We're going to have to keep up with them, and
we're going to have to keep him young fast and
defense is key. And I think drafting him having Steph Castle,
the Aaron Fox and Wimby, we're right up there.

Speaker 1 (58:44):
You're not right up there, but you're I mean you're
right up there. In three seasons, yeah, I'd say two seasons.

Speaker 3 (58:51):
I say, this season.

Speaker 1 (58:52):
With Wimby, everybody's timeline is bumped up, but rarely are
you gonna have the de Aaron Fox add you had
the pick and roll.

Speaker 3 (59:00):
Sure that was. We were already on a roll.

Speaker 2 (59:02):
And then Whenby got the blood clot, you know, I
blame the altitude.

Speaker 1 (59:06):
So if we take away if we take away the
Wimby blood clot and say the Spurs were should have
been a playing team this year, the Spurs should have
been the ten. Absolutely absolutely, they could have gotten there
without Wemby's injury. So when he comes back kealthy next year,
you add nineteen year old Dylan Harper, who's still a
nineteen year old learning what it is to be an

(59:27):
NBA player. He's I don't think you're going to see
him if he is inserted into the starting lineup immediately.
That would be against usually how the Spurs do things.
They didn't do that with Castle. He built up to that,
so I think you're still, well, you got Castle gonna
be He's going to be a star. He's your starter. Absolutely.
So then we got this Castle, then we have Harper off.

(59:47):
Then you're filling the bench, right, you're filling out the
rest around it.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
I think we get Barnes is going to come off
the bench. I think we're going to add someone. We're
going to add a young big on our fourteenth pick
pick or move up to get something.

Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
So that's my next Now that we know the second pick,
now the question becomes, are you looking to upgrade the
rest of the roster using that fourteenth pick?

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
I think we absolutely, Like, let's throw all those first
round picks we got. Let's go get a big that
can sit there and run, that will bring youth once
again to our team. That is a defender, that is
a ballhawk that is going to sit there and bang
down low and yeah, dude, like, I think we throw
it all in on this draft, and we have the starter,

(01:00:36):
we have the bench, We have at least solid three
four players on the bench, and then we can pick
and pick pieces of veterans here and there. I think, man,
that that makes me stoked for years to come.

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
And we talked about this, uh, you know, we talked
about this Monday night with the debating the better pathway
to being a contender of whether you know, because if
you take Harper at two, you're still realistically saying we're

(01:01:11):
three years away from being like a top top tier
in the West. You look look at the rest of
the West. How long did it take? How long did
it take? Okay see, this is five years? Five years.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
So we got Wimby, We got Wmby three years ago
counting next year. Right, So then now he's supposed to
be a transcendent talent, not not a generational as you
taught me, trans transcendent, transcendent. And we have a second
year Stephan Castle. We have a proven like clutch player

(01:01:43):
Darren Fox come in the playpoint guard. And now we
just got younger. Again, we're two years away from being
what okay see is now and that is the best
team in the league.

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
Again, I mean you look at look AT's roster right now,
and outside of Wimby, OKAC would have the next five
players you would draft if you were drafting guys from
both of those teams.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
And you don't think you don't think the Spurs have
that Darren Fox, Wimby.

Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
That's what I'm saying. Dylan Harper, no, no hold on
here me, Stephan Castle, you take away like right now
as we say, we can add Harper to it. If
you just looked at Okac's roster, and you looked at
the Spurs roster, you would take Wimby ahead of SGA,
would you? SDA is about to finish top two in MVP? Absolutely,
But I'm talking about right now as a player. Oh right,

(01:02:35):
if you're drafting a pickup basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Team, man, you're talking one A, one B.

Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
Completely. I still say you take Wimby. But it's close,
it's a it's an argument.

Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
Yeah, he's MVP.

Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Remove both of those guys. Now, who would you say?
Would you say Dylan Harper, Stuff Castle or Dearon Fox
is the next best Spur? Do you have to say
d Aaron Fox because he's achieved the most?

Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:02:59):
I think if you looked at Oklahoma City's roster, you
would take Check before you take the Aaron. You wouldn't
take Jalen Williams. Probably Chet. I mean, Chet is a
good rebound.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
He crashes the board, he stretches the floor because he can,
he can hit the three, and he's a decent rebounder.
He's not elite, But the Aaron Fox can take over
a game.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
Check can't. So I take the Aaron Fox over.

Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Check man, Yeah, right now, right now, I take him now, Chet,
three years from now, I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
Know, you know, he could get better.

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
But the thing that we know, like I said with
Stefan Stephan Castle, he we've seen him get better in
one year, tremendously better has come the.

Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
Rookie of the year as you would hope being a
top five pick like that, Like it's not like he
came out of nowhere. But not every top five pick
becomes better. No, absolutely, you know, actually Zion statistically gotten better.
He just can't stay healthy. His percent and his efficiency
as skyrocketed. He just can't stay on the court. You mentioned,

(01:04:09):
not every five. So Bomani Jones had this tweet as
we kind of as we think about the rest of
the draft lottery, because you know, teams like I had
it right here, the you know, like Charlotte hat was
tied for the best odds, they end up fourth, Utah
tied for the best odds, fifth, Washington tied for the

(01:04:29):
best odds six. New Orleans tied for the best odds seven.
So the four teams that had the.

Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Best odds are.

Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
Picking four through seven. But that being said, I saw
Bimani had this earlier today. The top two MVP candidates
this year, Jokich and Sga Jokis was forty first overall.
Pick SGA was eleventh, the guy in Milwaukee Jannis thirteenth,

(01:04:57):
the guy with two MVPs in four championships in Golden State,
Steph Curry seventh, and then you're telling me Haliburton twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
Yeah, So what you're telling me is it's the players
that grow.

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
Unlike your album over there, they grow.

Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
And become better before our eyes are the ones that
become the MVP quality players. And that's why I do
not want to give up to Stephan Castle because when
you saw him in the beginning of the year versus
what he is now.

Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
Is night and day. Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
I think so that just means like, give me one
more year, and then all of a sudden he's averaging
what twenty two points nine assists? That would be a
nice jump, you know what I'm saying, That would be
the next jump.

Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
I think the the interesting thing the Steph Castle conversation
is now off the table, like they're they're keeping stuff
they're building around. Eventually, Fox Cast, Harper, and Wimby that's
your four for the next four five seasons.

Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
So what I want to know from you, because you know,
you know the players a lot better than what pick
would we need to go up to to get a
quality big to play the five? What pick do you
think we need to go up to to fill out
the roster from we start the air in at point
we got Stefan and Harper at the shooting, we got

(01:06:29):
Wemby at the four. We need the five. That's that's
our young team. What pick would we need to jump
up to to get that guy that would complete the
team that would go against Okac in the second year.

Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
I mean looking at some of the mock drafts, you know,
obviously we know who the top two are going to be,
and then the next you know, looking at that next
collection of Trey Johnson, Edgecombe, Ca Nipple, your favorite guy.
Those are all guards. Yeah, and the teams that are picking,

(01:07:03):
you know, third through seventh are probably more looking for
offensive minded guards. I think you'd have to get somewhere
around that seven eight.

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Nine, So seven to seven to nine basically, So you
think we I think we got enough stock and we
throw a Keldon or something in there of a cell,
you know, I would like to keep the cell over Kilden,
but I'll take you the one at the moment, but
and throw them a bunch of first round picks we could.
I think it's not out of the realm of moving

(01:07:35):
up five picks to complete the starting the young core
ki starters.

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
So the only reason it doesn't feel as likely now
is because all of those teams that should have won
the lottery are the teams you'd have to be trading with. So, like,
you know, New Orleans at seven, they don't want to
move down in this draft. This draft is supposedly one
of the deepest we've had in the last twenty years.
They're pissed there at seven, but they don't want to

(01:08:04):
be at fourteen. They don't want to move back. Brooklyn
probably in the same boat. Toronto and then Houston at ten.
Maybe you do an inner division because they're looking for
players now to try to win. Maybe that's there's so
many there's so many different routes they can go. I like,

(01:08:26):
I'm not so sure the fourteenth pick though, instead of
thinking about trading up. Maybe that's where you get a
solid veteran with the Kelton or Vissel or both contracts.
Because it's all NBA, You've you've got to match salary
numbers in trades.

Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
So I mean, I wonder what the market is like
I would like, I haven't seen any other prospective trades
to other teams where like we know, like you said,
we would have to get up the number two to
in Stephan Castle to get Giannis. I haven't seen any
other teams like what Phoenix would have to give up Core,

(01:09:08):
Uh give up Booker, always give up Booker and Durant
to get them, you mean if they were going for like,
I haven't seen any other trades for not yet, but.

Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
I think the most interesting so like last night we
saw Cleveland eliminated. That Cleveland team feels a lot like
where the Hawks were back when they had Al Horford,
Joe Johns. You know, uh, who's the other big uh
Paul Millsap was on that team like they you know,
it's trying to think Jeff Tigue the you know when

(01:09:45):
the Hawks had the best record in the East, but
they could never get past the second round because there's
still when it came time for playoff basketball, they didn't
have that star to lead them. You know, Donovan Mitchell,
he's aging, but yeah he's I mean, like those are
I think you're gonna see a team like Cleveland who
feels a bit stuck a team like Houston who feels

(01:10:07):
a bit stuck. Uh, depending on I meink Houston feels stuck. Absolutely, Yeah,
I think they feel like I.

Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
Think they made a huge jump this year.

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
They did, no doubt, but but the experience. This is
their first time in the playoffs since god knows when. Yeah,
but here's if you look at their roster player right,
but if you if you look at their roster structure,
they're about to have to pay, like Jalen Green is
going to be a big money guy or he's going
to be included in a big time move. I think

(01:10:38):
Shingoon is the only one that's probably is untouchable on
that entire roster. Uh. You know Jabari former top pick
they've it feels like he's kind of maxed out. They
are growing as a team, but it feels like their
individual players might be maxing out, you get what I'm saying.
So they're gonna have to start paying some money. Yeah,
and they're they're about to have to commit to a

(01:10:59):
cool or basically but another team. It wouldn't shock me
if all of a sudden we're hearing Oklahoma City being
involved in Giannis Trace. The only team that has more
first round picks than the Spurs over the next decade
is Oklahoma City and Oklahoma City. Like we were just
talking about, I might not have been as I might

(01:11:19):
not have been as uh, I might have been more
bullish on the Thunder roster looking at it, but I
think I still think there's I mean, there's just more
depth talent. I think there's that roster than any roster
in the league right now. So if you're if you're
the Thunder, you can't pay ten guys, you can't pay
twelve guys. You're only gonna play nine guys, and you

(01:11:42):
really can only pay pay max dollar to three.

Speaker 2 (01:11:47):
Exactly, which would be Chet SGA.

Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
And Jaylen Williams. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
So assuming they don't.

Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
Keep that core together and don't say we have a
championship window right now, let's pair somebody and get Yannis.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
But the thing they have is youth, speed and defense.
And that's where I'm saying, like, that's what made them
like right now, they're not pass it. They have the
catch and shooters like someone on the baseline or something,
but they really only use those three to score points
and then they just do lockdown D Yeah, and just pressure, pressure, pressure,

(01:12:24):
And that's where I'm thinking, we Giannis. He can't run
the floor like that.

Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
You know, winby looking, I don't think you Giannis can
still run like a deer. Yeah, I mean he's about
for how long? He would be thirty one next next season,
and then.

Speaker 3 (01:12:39):
You want to then you want to talk about.

Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
Pandy plays a physical game that doesn't age well in
your thirties.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
And he would already be a super max contract. Wendy's
gonna be coming up on a super max contract.

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
Then we're gonna have to start paying people.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
That's why when we get these players like one every year,
I think we can have a five or six year
run if we get young now, you know, and we
just sit there and stay with our core five.

Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
And that and that's exactly what Oklahoma City did until
this year when they trade. You know, they traded Josh
Giddy for Caruso, who's been a great fit, and they
signed Isaiah Hartenstein to the huge free agency deal to
pry him away from the Knicks. So they waited, they
were patient, They let the young core grow together, and
then they made their move for a veteran and then

(01:13:26):
I think they're my favorites for the championship as they
should be, especially after they beat Denver last night and
took control of that series. And it's no surprise they
do their business that way because of course we all
know it's Sam Presty from the r C. Buford comes
from the tree, right, So it's not shocking that the

(01:13:46):
Spurs are going that patient route. But again, at some point,
if a move is available like that, you got to
do it. And I think if Oklahoma, if Oklahoma City
blows a lead against Denver, they're gonna be in the
Yannis rumors. There's no doubt. That's the second they blew

(01:14:07):
series last year against Dallas in the second round when
Luca took over. Actually I think it was Kyrie that
really did the damage in that series. Uh. And then
if they you know, depending on how far, if they
don't make the NBA Finals, it wouldn't shock me if
they are sniffing around in a big some kind of
big move because all of these teams, you stick with

(01:14:29):
your patients for so long and you build for so
long that eventually your championship window, it's it doesn't stay
open forever. Yeah, So you get to that point and
as soon as that window opens, that's when you you
trade a young guy like Giddy for Caruso, you signed
the big free agent deal, and I think the Spurs
are realizing, hey, we're not where Oklahoma City is yet.

(01:14:53):
So we're not but I think stay patient.

Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
We can be there on this in twenty seven, you know.
And if we get young now and we have Daron
Fox leading the team being as clutch as he is,
Wimby being that man who wants to be the best ever.

Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
Let's let's play this exercise.

Speaker 3 (01:15:09):
Let's just do it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
So you think twenty twenty seven, Okay, twenty seven, the
thunder is still going to be who the Thunder are?
They have a young core. They're not going anywhere, okay,
and they might they're going to be Look, they're a
full championship contender. They're looking to win championships now, so
they're going to be making aggressive moves. The Rockets just
won fifty two games. They have their young core again,
they're going to be looking to make aggressive moves. Lakers

(01:15:33):
obviously have Luca now it is whatever else they do
around him, it's the Lakers. They always seem to get lucky.
There's your top three. Nuggets still have the best basketball
player on face of the earth. In two years, he's
still gonna be the best basketball player on the face.

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
Of the ether.

Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
They showed they like they showed how to defeat him
last year with Minnesota, they threw everything out Joker Jamal
unless they add pieces.

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Jamal Murray is a shadow of himself. Sure, but like.

Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
This is what Oklaho home is doing. Like did you
see his So in two years, do you think the
Spurs will be better than Jokic and anybody surrounding.

Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
So let's so let's match him up versus Wimby. Wimby
I edge out Wemby in two years against Jokic against
the three year old Jokic.

Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
He doesn't want to be there. I think we're He
drives me most insane, so quick to extrapolate out what
we think is going to happen, when no one actually
has any clue what's going to happen. Obviously, Like I
don't either, But I know Jokic is the best basketball
player on earth. He's still gonna be. If he's not

(01:16:39):
the best in two years, he's still going to be
second or third best. You saw what happened in the
last game.

Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
He did everything that miracle three three pointer. That was like, Dawn,
here hit the bat, Damn here hit the what's you
called the screen on top of the.

Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
That guy that's still having to do everything. He can
carry a team to fifty wins though, that's my.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
Whole point, but he he can't carry it when he's
got a bunch of young players thrown at him and
he's in there. Have you seen his free throw his
field goal percentage in the second half of these games.

Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
It's not good. It's like twenty it's good.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
It's not good, except for last night's game, where he
was like, this is a must win game, five, pivotal game.
He tried everything, and they edged him out because they
were younger, and they threw it at the and they
just kept on pounding on Jokic, you know, and he
was making.

Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
Stupid shots, sure, stupid shots.

Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
That should never be made in ever, you know, but
he didn't get to win all.

Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
All I would say is, if I was betting, I
would still put my money on jokicch and whatever they
put around him in two years, because he's that He's
that good. I don't think the next one, the Clippers, well,
we're just athetically Clippers sure, you can convince me the
Clippers are about to implode with Harden KWHI that whole.
So sure, the Timberwolves Anthony Edwards and.

Speaker 3 (01:18:00):
It's gonna one out of there. I think he's again
we're talking if.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
You're saying everybody, everybody's gonna one out of everywhere. Edwards
just made a conference final last year. He's on the
verge of making another conference final this year, so he
might be making his first NBA Finals appearance. I just
don't again, I don't think you can just take you
can look at the Spurs roster and say in two
years they will be better than a team that has

(01:18:27):
made about to make back to back conference finals appearances.
Right now, my t Wolves are still in a much
better position than we are, even with the number two.

Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
Overall, my peak right now is okay, see, that's what
I'm looking at.

Speaker 1 (01:18:39):
The model that I want to build under a thousand percent,
that's the model that it should be, and that's the
model they're going now.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
And that's where I'm thinking, you have Minnesota's too old
except for and.

Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
Who's there other second?

Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (01:18:54):
Well? Now, I mean really, I guess Randall, it doesn't
mean they're probably gonna lose nas Reed here in a month, Yes,
sore agency.

Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
So that's where I think, And it's gonna want out
whenever he wants to get his super Max, He's gonna
test the market and then, yeah, who wants to be
in Minnesota? You know what I'm saying. That's why Garnet
went out. Sure, and as much as he was as loyal.

Speaker 1 (01:19:17):
Garnett stayed there to contract extensions.

Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
Yeah exactly, but he couldn't get pass Duncan. That's why I.

Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
Think when you have somebody like Wimby, I don't think
what you meant home run is can top Wimby. I
don't think Joker can top Winby. When we have that
one player that can stand up against their one player
defensive wise and offensively, that can neutralize that, and then

(01:19:43):
what's around him. And that's when I say, Stephan Castle
reminds me so much of a Kawhi.

Speaker 3 (01:19:49):
Leonard, but with a better attitude.

Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Then the amount of progression and the amount of how
much better he got. Unless something improbable happens and he
starts it's digressing, which I don't see happening.

Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
He's going to be.

Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
An awesome Okay, this is driving me crazy. We talk
I've heard so many talk about Steph Castle's rookie year
like it was like it was the best rookie year
numbers we've ever seen. He had a great year, showed
tons of development, he averaged fifteen points a game, was
limited in playing time by the coaching staff. It's oddly
at times wasn't as were included. We were, we were

(01:20:27):
thanking exactly. But again, if we're extrapolating out two years
from now, SGA will be a still be a better
player than Steph Castle. Two years from now, Ant will
still be a better player than step Like this is
not we just all of a sudden we talked about, well,
Steph Castle's well he's going to be an All Star
in two years.

Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
What did it Ant look like his first year?

Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
What did Sga look like his first year? Well, kind
of look no, kind of look.

Speaker 2 (01:20:54):
Like what someone who can't jump out the jump out
the ceiling like Castle, someone who can't shoot the three
like Castle, so one can't put.

Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
The ball on the floor.

Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
He was he his field goal percentage was dog shit
in the beginning of the year.

Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
That's why, like, that's why he was an averaging points.
My thing is what stepped into the league in average
twenty a game.

Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
Because they weren't taking You don't think Castle if he
they put him on the starter and was like, hey,
this is.

Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
If man hadn't if he was a starter on any
other team, we didn't we didn't have league scoring record
if we didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
Have CP three taking up his time, if we didn't
have CP three taking up his time, which I value
CP three's veteran leadership for his one year here. But
you're talking about two totally different scenarios. But you're telling
me that all his abilities and everything I see with
my eyes and then look at the numbers and the

(01:21:51):
growth that he did from the beginning to the end
is That's what I'm vainly focused on. I'm not focused
on sure what could be thinking. I'm just like, there
was so much growth from one year.

Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
That wasn't historic growth, that was just what you normally
see from a guy drafted in the top five. He's
a solid top five pick. Yeah, let's not extrapolate this
out to he's gonna be league top ten in two years.
I just I let's be patient because the guy they're
about to draft it too, is a guy that you
might could say that about they're about to get an

(01:22:23):
Anthony Edwards type talent at number two in this draft.
And that's why I'm man, That's what I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Then just seeing him the way he handled himself and
the way he just growth and like he brought the
energy to the Spurs. He's gonna mean a lot. He's
gonna be part of a big three, you know, for
years to come. And that's if we keep them. Now,
Dylan Harper coming around, you got two people trying to
edge each other out, having that competitiveness, playing against each

(01:22:50):
other everything practice.

Speaker 1 (01:22:52):
That's my favorite part of this strategy. And you see,
you saw it a lot in Oklahoma City over the years,
the energy of having a young team. It's not just
on the court every night. It's traveling together, all relating
to each other, all pushing each other individually off the
court to be better, all pushing each other in practice
when they have a rare practice in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
And then when you have a solid leader like Wemby's,
like everything says that even though I can't see in
the future, as you say, Wemby seems like that Tim
Duncan style leader that he's gonna show you he's gonna
do what he says, and then he's like you better
do what do what I do?

Speaker 1 (01:23:28):
No, he seems like a guy that's gonna he's gonna
drag your ass out of bed to be at the
gym to get shots up and every summer.

Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
And honestly, that's why I think Castle came in was like, Okay,
I'm a number four pick. You know, I got wemby
Oh I'm not starting. I think he was pouding a
little bit, and then all of a sudden he got
that work ethic and the growth came, you know, and
then I think he's I think he saw it himself.
And then even after the All Star break when he
got that he should have won slam Dunk with a

(01:23:56):
slam dunk contact, you know, like I think he was like,
oh man, I got a little taste of this. He
wants more and the only way he can get more
is to get better. You know, he's got to get better.
He's got to compete with the ants, with the SGA.
You know what I'm saying. So I see that driving them.
You know, it's just that it factor.

Speaker 1 (01:24:17):
Yeah, And those are the things that it seems like
the Spurs. You know, when it comes to scouting individual guys,
those that's what they get right, more than most any
other teams. We took Kawhi away from Indiana, right, Yeah,
it was the well it was George Hill traded to
Indy and and.

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Yeah, because they saw They're like, Okay, look at this
guy with a long wingspan. He's a solid defender. That
was key, that was Pop's key. And then now we
just got to make him shoot better, you know what
I'm saying. So it's like, now we got kids that
are already shooting better and already solid defenders.

Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
Let's plug him in.

Speaker 2 (01:24:54):
That's why I say the timeline is raising up a
little bit in my eyes.

Speaker 1 (01:24:58):
Yeah, I just the again without I mean, having no
idea what this thing looks like in two years and
also having the biggest wild card in all of that
is what Dylan Harper looks like in two years. Because
Dylan Harper in two years, with his pedigree and what
we say, he's going to be right growing in two years.

(01:25:22):
He's your second dog to Wimby, he's your Robin. Potentially
he's better than Fox or Castle in two years. If
what we've been told is to be believed, but the
four of them together in two years, like Fox could
be the fourth best player. You're still talking about a
twenty one year old kid, a twenty two year old kid,

(01:25:42):
a twenty three year old kid, and the Aaron Fox
in two like that is still very very very very
rarely in this league, very rarely in this league do
we see a team that that young of their four
best players actually win anything. Yeah, it's still the process
is still.

Speaker 2 (01:26:03):
We're gonna like they're gonna they're going to have to
be patient, they're going to have to prove it, but
the ceiling is high.

Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
I completely agree. No, I think the if you're looking
at like, uh, you know, before the season started, me
and my buddy Toby did a podcast where we ranked
the young cores, the twenty five and under players on
each roster, and I had the with last year's roster

(01:26:31):
without even knowing, you know, obviously that Dylan Harper was
going to be added to that. I think I had
this first second behind Oklahoma City because technically SGA was
still under our cutoff. I think it was still SGA.
I had him second to somebody. It might have been
Minnesota because of Ant, but it's you know, if you

(01:26:52):
have Wimby and you have now what we see in
Steph Castle, and then you're adding another young guy to
that core. I'm not sure there's not another core of
guys twenty three and under across the entire league that
you would rather have than those three.

Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
And I think those guys are just realizing that they
have something special and they have to capitalize on it
now and.

Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
They can take over the league.

Speaker 1 (01:27:17):
You can realize that, but historically you don't actually realize
that until you're because the young guys don't have the
work ethic.

Speaker 3 (01:27:24):
They don't have the work ethic.

Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
But no, it's more of the young guys don't have
the experience. The young guys don't have the years of
winning games together. It's just building that camaraderie. The Wimby's
been playing since sixteen. Well all of these guys have
been playing professionally. Sure, So there's your one guy that's
your leader and Castle. One games at Yukon, the leader
the leaders seem like he pushed Castle and your leader

(01:27:47):
led a team to thirty four wins this season. He
played half the season, he played two thirds of the season,
and when they left it they were still that's half
the season. NBA does the All Star breaks at the
tail it's two third championship is like, you still almost
was half. That's basically the halfway.

Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
Let's go sixty five percent.

Speaker 2 (01:28:08):
Yeah, and he's still averaged more blocks than anybody, including
playoffs he had.

Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
He still has I think more blocks than anybody after
missing all those games. As we sit here to just
again like we he's gonna have two hundred and fifty
blocks a season. Man, you're going the pathway?

Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
Is there? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:28:26):
Now, it's just going to be about patience because if
you're expecting, if we're if we're believing in this path
and we're following it. Which the more we talked after
Monday night, you know, I went home and just I
couldn't stop thinking about which direction the Spurs go. And
I think I agree with you at this point. I
think I agree with you. You keep the pick, you
take Harper, and you build that core together. You let

(01:28:49):
another team chase Giannis right now because their championship window
is already open a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
Is he going to be like, hey, I'll let you
be Alpha and we.

Speaker 1 (01:28:59):
Don't know that if they have made that trade. I
think those two guys could have figured that out pretty easily.
But I think I am fully on I've swung. Not
that I was fully on you honest, But again, if
a MVP is available at his age, I think you
have to at least strongly, strongly considered if you have

(01:29:20):
the assets. But now as we think about the Spurs
moving forward keeping the pick, now it's got to be
it's about patience because this is not a team that
should have like, let's let's get into an actual playoff
series now with this young core and get some of
that experience.

Speaker 3 (01:29:39):
And that's what and that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
We're going to get into a play I think we're
going to be not even a play in next year.

Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
So that would mean you would have to be a
top top six.

Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
You know, Lakers, they're going to rebuild Lebron. I mean,
can Lebron do it again?

Speaker 1 (01:29:54):
The Lakers with what they have right now, are still
a better team. The Lakers just won fifty games. Lebron's
gonna to be back. Luca is gonna be Luca, right, yeah,
but like Luca's not going anywhere, yeah, but they still
have Luca.

Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
Give me the drop, give me the drop. But olg
he's fat. He's gonna it's gonna take him half a season.
Look that fat take that fat.

Speaker 1 (01:30:14):
As is gonna is gonna get first team All NBA
in the last five years. He gets five of his
first six years. I think he had one off, not consecutively.

Speaker 3 (01:30:24):
Let's let's remember Bronny coming up.

Speaker 1 (01:30:26):
All right on that note, last thing, I mean, obviously
we talk Calves being eliminated. Cleveland might be entering those
sweep steakes thunder depending on where they go. T Wolves
look like they're gonna finish off the Warriors with Curry
out again tonight, the one that happened right as we
were signing off Monday night. The Celtics are now an

(01:30:49):
extremely extremely interesting team because Tatum's out ruptured achilles. He's
out most of next year, if not all of next year.
Because of their salary situation, they basically have to trade
at least one, maybe two of this group of guys

(01:31:09):
of between KP Drew Holiday, Derek White. Yeah, and then
you're like, you're Sam Hauser, he's got to go. He
makes ten MILLI year. They're over. They're going to be
way over. The second apron, which without giving everybody tired head.
It just it limits everything you can do roster buildings.
So they've got to shed some salary.

Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
That's the East problem. What's the East problem?

Speaker 1 (01:31:33):
But here this is the problem though, the division between
the East and the West. Now the West is about
to get the top two picks and the most loaded draft.
Yeah we might have had in twenty years, and we're
obviously the best division. The East is getting, you know,
the East is getting the scraps left there from three

(01:31:54):
to nine that those are all Eastern Conference teams. So
the gap between, especially with Tatum's injury.

Speaker 2 (01:32:02):
It's about to be the early two thousands, which the
West still winning every year. Maybe once in a while
at the underdog East Eastern Conference will pull out a win.

Speaker 1 (01:32:12):
Or like when when the Sixers with AI just take
over and one guy can.

Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
But he can't beat a Western dominant team, right, you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:32:22):
The Celtics now though knowing you know, KP D, why
Drew Holliday are all technically available in conversations now they've
got to move one of them for salary purposes. Now
that Tatum's injured, we might see like a pseudo tank. Yeah,
next year, by the Celtics. If they really wanted to
blow things up, they could trade Jalen Brown and he's

(01:32:45):
on the tank right, so that there, you know. Unfortunately,
because of the injury, uh, they are now a really
really interesting team to look at the summer.

Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
That's why I don't see Gianni's leaving the Eastern Conference.
It's such a cupcakes like like he's like, at least
I can go to the playoffs every year knowing you know, like,
do you think the Knicks are really going to beat
even though I like, I love I would love to
see the Knicks. Yeah, I love Jaalen Bronson. I've already
guys already know that. Do I think they can beat

(01:33:17):
a Joker or SGA or Aunt?

Speaker 3 (01:33:20):
No, you do. I don't see him being them.

Speaker 1 (01:33:23):
The odds, the chance that we might get an Oklahoma
City Minnesota finals matchup after they did the trade a
week before the regular season started, when Randall and Kat
swapped places, you know, yeah, and I guess de Vincenzo
as well, going to Minnesota. The two of them facing
off in the finals would actually be I think out

(01:33:48):
of all of the scenarios that are like.

Speaker 3 (01:33:49):
I that would be the championship.

Speaker 1 (01:33:51):
Yeah, I think that's the one. I want to see
ant in the finals, and I would love to see
just the because they made the trade, see them. I
don't want to see Oklahoma City ever succeed. Those are
still the Zombie SuperSonics. They should be in Seattle, LG.
Let's do some lightning round before we get out of here. Oh,

(01:34:11):
this is something I think we'll talk about a lot
more next week. The NFL schedules all dropped tonight, and
really the only ones you know as far as the Cowboys.
Cowboys are gonna get slaughtered on Thanksgiving. Oh yeah, they
got the Chiefs and then four days it was either
four days later or no, it's it's four days before

(01:34:32):
the Sunday before the Eagles. So they have to play
the Eagles on a Sunday and then the Chiefs that
same Thursday.

Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
Oh man, not good.

Speaker 1 (01:34:42):
And then they are playing on the Christmas Day Netflix game.
Cowboys playing on Christmas Day against Washington. Hit me.

Speaker 3 (01:34:51):
I'd buy that for all.

Speaker 2 (01:34:53):
It looks like your Cowboys and my Niners both missed
the eight International games.

Speaker 1 (01:35:00):
Having to go on fine by me.

Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
Oh my god man, eight international games. Minnesota's got to
stay out there across the pond two times. Looks like
the Jaguars, you know, gave a reach around to someone
to not do that job. But yeah, so we all avoided.
We all avoided the early eight thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:35:22):
Games, which I hate.

Speaker 1 (01:35:25):
Man, I kind of like them because it reminds me kills.

Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
My fantasy I gotta sit my fantasy lineup. Man, eight
thirty ruins everything. And trust me being the commissioner, having
to hear everyone bitch, oh my god, it's like it's
a thankless job.

Speaker 1 (01:35:39):
And you will hear me. That will be more later
in the year. Of course, it's a thankless job. It's
commissioner of a fantasy football league. One other NFL note
before we get an interstitial, it did see Derrick Henry
sign the two year extension.

Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
Yeah, that was all myself. So it's only fifteen million year.

Speaker 1 (01:35:58):
It's okay, it's the most expensive contract any running back
over thirty years old has ever gotten. So in that sense, oh,
he just he just got cashed out. Yeah, but it's
only fifteen million dollars a year, which makes him now
the fourth highest paid running back. The fact that Derrick
Henry is after what we saw him do last year,

(01:36:20):
that it should be it's Saquon and Derrick Henry and
then everybody else. Even if you want to see him
see maybe is he's the third next He's he's the
next hit contract wise, and I think he's gonna think
he's willing to restructure. Yeah, eventually they're gonna have to,
all right, hit me LG. You mentioned Draymond getting fined,

(01:36:41):
So he got fined fifty thousand dollars again, he's got
that now takes him over nine hundred thousand dollars in
fines in his career and uh three point one million
in money lost due to suspensions. So he is in
some former fashion has lost for over four million dollars
for disciplinary reasons.

Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
Where does that money go straight league office to a charity?

Speaker 1 (01:37:07):
Well, technically, I think the NBA is a charity. It's
a nonprofit. They're just a broker. But the fine, this one,
I don't know if you'll watched the game. So the
game ended up being Warriors lost by seven. Yeah, the
line on that game was five and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:37:25):
So he said something about the line.

Speaker 1 (01:37:27):
He suggested that maybe the NBA should look into the
officials because it feels like they knew exactly what that
number was made sure that at the end of it,
the warriors were not going to cover. It wouldn't be
the first time here me LG.

Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
Man Tory Lanez got stabbed fourteen times in jail, the
one who shot Megan the stallion in the foot.

Speaker 1 (01:37:55):
I bet if you believe he pulled the trigger.

Speaker 2 (01:37:58):
If you believe, you don't think he could have paid
so and off to get to take that rap.

Speaker 1 (01:38:04):
Come on now get it rap o god, Oh my god,
hit me.

Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
LG.

Speaker 1 (01:38:12):
I swear, I swear. Eventually we're going to do an
E Bomb's corner, but we're running out of time tonight.
So again like it's like it's like the old uh,
what's up with that bit with Lindsey Buckingham. We'll get
into Lindsay next week. That's our E bombs corner and

(01:38:33):
what would you like to say, Lindsey? And we were
out of time, just out of time. Now we're gonna end.
We're gonna end tonight. First of all, I've noticed something.
Maybe it's not happening more often, but it seems to
be happening more often to me. And this is this
is an absolute bitch session to close things out. You

(01:38:54):
ever pulled up to a red light. So imagine there's
two lanes, two lanes. Well, good man, don't let the
computers control your life. Smart man. You pull up to
red light, there's two lanes, there's a car in front
of you. They're in the left of the two lanes,
and you're right behind them. So red light, you're waiting.

(01:39:17):
You're thinking, all right, as soon as this light turns green,
this guy doesn't have a blinker on, so we're all
going to go straight. Yeah, and then the second the
light turns green, Oh, it's the throw blinker on. Nope,
I'm actually I'm turning left and there's oncoming traffic. So
now you're boxed in behind the car who instead of
using a blinker to let you know what they're doing,

(01:39:41):
like I don't know, like a blinker was invented for.
So you're behind them, and then as soon as it
turns green, they just people just don't want to hear
their blinker go there looking at their GPS or texting
and stuff. I could go on all day. The only
reason it's these uber driving No, the only reason it's
different is because if that was the case, they just
wouldn't use a blinker anyway. It just I don't. I'm not.

(01:40:05):
I'm just don't use blinkers, like my old man used
to say, they're working their second job as a telemarketer
while driving. Yeah, everybody's got everybody needs a little extra scratch.
My old man used to always say he never used
his blinker because he didn't want to wear it out,
and it would drive me and it would drive me
mad because we would almost get hit head on all

(01:40:25):
the time because he had just slowly turned with no blinker. Like,
what the hell was that?

Speaker 2 (01:40:30):
You mean?

Speaker 3 (01:40:31):
Your old man got some like.

Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
I like his style because I always said, yielding's for suckers,
you know, because you got when you started yielding and
you're like, who's gonna go first? If you just gunned it?
You know, that's not how you wouldn't party very clear,
there was a decision made, There was a decision made,
if you just gun it, The decision was made, final, done, No, can.

Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
We do that?

Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
Can we do that?

Speaker 1 (01:40:54):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
Yeah, I like it. I like you. I like your
old man's style.

Speaker 1 (01:40:57):

he's right about that one. At least, oh lg get

recommence next Monday Night Live. As always, if you want
