Speaker 1 (00:07):
What's up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of the Truth Lounge.
I got the Grandfather in the house. TA of course,
y'all know my guy Jay Crow in the building, but
we got the lovely Ashley Neville in the building. What's up, y'all? So, man,
it's already two games in into the playoffs. I just
(00:28):
want to know what has stood out, you know, about
the games that's been played so far. And it doesn't
matter which team or which series you're go into, but
like what stood out, Like what stood out to you?
Ask let's start with you what's really stood out through
two games?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
So I could start off with the Lakers blowing a
twenty point lead. I didn't think that was gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Damn yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Swinging right out the gate with that. I think there
were some really questionable calls to you down the stretch,
and I don't want to go there, but I feel
like these officials got something else going on.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
You don't blame it on officials.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
You got to blame everything on the officials.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
It's a Laker homer. We all know that she goes
to all the Laker games. We're in all yellow. So
if you guys are ever watching that's her and all yellow.
But yeah, I agree. I think it's over for the Lakes.
I mean, I thought they blew a golden opportunity. In
every series, you'll have your moment. I thought that was
their moment to kind of turn the series. But I
think since they didn't capitalize on that, I don't see
(01:31):
how they get back in even if they win a
game at home. I just think Denver is too good
and polished.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Uh Champs, Yeah, they ran Champs and I think too
there's some other issues going on behind the scenes.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Stration is settling in with them? Huh what you think?
Like Anthony Davids saying some he's saying some ship about like, oh,
we don't know what we're doing sometimes like come on, man,
y'all don't.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Play any two games.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
How do you not know?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
You're like, y'all, don't y'all just like.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
You know you got that saying with what the baby
gonna do? Just that was just a crap baby act
to me. Man, anytime you make that small adjustment back
putting and going on it, you don't take advantage of
trying to go get the ball, trying to just run
a set of screen. I'm gonna say something. So I'm
gonna say something like this, so you know I was
the guy.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
I was the guy.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
So if I'm the guy and you know Anthony Davis,
it's one of the guys, it's a Bron but Anthony Davis,
I'm gonna be like, if I ain't touch the ball
or playing big called for me, hey man, bring that
this way right at least in the time out.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
He did it. He just did it too late in
the game. In the game, i'mnna be like, oh no, no,
run that. Come on, I got one.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Doing it's but you can't be passive aggressive. You the guy.
You can't wait for the coach. I'm gonna be like, hey,
come on, man, get him getting one of these, like
come on, man, you know what I'm saying. They show hey, Bron, Hey, Bron,
look for your guy. If you'll tell that Tobron, I
promise you he's gonna be like, oh I need that.
(03:06):
That's what you don't think he won't want that, Like
if you go to Bron's like, hey man, you showing
him you want it, So you don't think he'd be like,
all right, okay, I feel that. Like you know what
I'm saying, Like like certain players be like, hey, come
this way, I'm I'm. It didn't matter who was on
our team, if you had a dude or the squad
he was like, hey, I got one. Are you okay?
I like that you be an aggressive he goes. So
(03:28):
I just think, like, all right. So for me, I
was real disappointed at that Celtic lass though. You know,
I just thought, like Miami being down two key scoring
players in Brosier and your heart and soul, Like you
don't have your heart and soul out there. But that
dude say a lot.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
What I will do?
Speaker 1 (03:50):
I will say that's gonna honerate. It underrated that people
don't never talk about it and we only talk about
it after the fact. But even going into the series,
it's like Spoe is a factor, Like, like Spoe is
a factor out here.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Broh?
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Why though, why is everybody from your point of view,
what makes him who he is? The coach that he is.
I gets so much respect because he does he finds
himself overachieving. Now, first we didn't give him the credit.
Now everybody wants to give him the credit in your opinion,
why is that?
Speaker 1 (04:19):
I just think the culture they developed through pat Riley
has trinkled down into like you know he was he is, uh,
like who the Godfather, the god you know who the
Godfather was?
Speaker 3 (04:30):
What was his name? But what was his name in
the Godfather movie? Uh? Don Corleon? Oh?
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, yeah, right, Don Corleon. He's Don Corleon. And then
you remember Don Corleon started giving the keys to Michael, right,
and now he he the young terror, you know what
I'm saying. So it just it just trinkled down, you
know what I'm saying. So I just see that in
the culture. They like the one thing you know about them,
no matter who they got on the court, they're gonna
(04:59):
play harder ship.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
I'm happy for a Guymias. I'm gonna shout him out
because he fits that culture.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Great draft pick.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Miami Heat, talk about that job, coach Hoimi in Au. Yeah,
like when you saw him get drafted by the Miami Heat,
did you think, what did you think right away?
Speaker 3 (05:19):
He was like that's a great fit.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
I did. I just I thought it was just great
for the team, the program, the organization, but also the kid.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Where you go means a lot right, Well, how old
was he when he came to the program of fourteen fourteen?
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Okay, so right, we have. We saw Homy grow.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
Yeah, we saw him grow, but he fit through that culture.
He's a hard working guy. He's not afraid of nothing.
He's a he's in the mode of the tough, defensive
minded and now he's developed his complimentary skills, so he's
he can he can fill in a lot of gaps.
He's been round point for him this year.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Yeah, he's played the four a lot.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
He can do a lot of things.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Well. So what you're seeing out here to the.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Playoff, what's surprising to me, man, is just seeing the
effort from the Phoenix Suns. You know, they beat up
on the Timberwoods all year long. I didn't think those young.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Warriors was over there was gone with Anthony Edwards, J mcdames,
Mike Conley, Rudy Gobert, the towns off the beat injury.
I thought that the series would have been a little
more competitive. You got their young cats, Barty.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
I'm looking at Early, I'm looking at you got deal
much respect.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Probably gonna be a Hall of Fame for sure, for sure.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
And KD and he over here talking to him like
I ain't going nowhere.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
That's the only way, Like I ain't going nowhere.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
That's that's the most exciting part. Man, Your super start
gotta be coming like that. Just about the troops now,
the truth want to be they want to play with
that guy.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
He like you know, he's putting confidence into the organization.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
It's in it right down right here. They believe it.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
This is what I was talking. I was like, this
playoffs to me is gonna be intriguing. You know for me,
what with all like so far is with the Clippers,
we didn't know what was going on with Kawhi. The
Clippers come out, they get the first win without him,
they come back notches, Irvan respond game two hardaways out
to me, this series is the most undecidable.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Series, which I think you don't know.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Because it's like it can go either way. Yeah, I
think the other series they're starting to take shape.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Whoever wins this series is gonna get to the conference finals.
The winner the series.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
These are type of matchups that you don't see until
conference finals, and they facing each other in the first round.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
When you got this type of.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Talent, let me ask you this are we sleeping on Okay?
Speaker 1 (07:42):
See, yeah, were sleeping on them because they're the youngest
team in the league and that's what they got, no
respect like because they they ain't been through nothing, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
They went from sixteen or or you know when.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
The worst teams last year to now they number one seed,
no experience, so it's of course you're gonna sleep on that,
you know what I'm saying. That's like a young new
It's like Ali, you know what I'm saying. When he
thought for the for the title at twenty, you was like,
all right, cool, but we don't know if he can
beat But that's giving.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
But I'm just saying, but that's what give him. That's
what's driving them though.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
People they kind of they kind of they're not afraid
of the ignorant of it. They ain't felt that pain
of the losses and they've been down and they feel
they probably feel like we're the best team in the
league and nobody. We got the best player and we
got some guys.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
On the rim.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
They're confident on what they can do.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
To see they've been doing it allbody an nobody watching them.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
That's what I say, Like they own but you kind
of like going to the bathroom just like your phone.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Watching like certain like something game Lakers got you're gonna
be You're gonna be kind of locked in, you know.
You know certain games you locked in, like okay see
when you're like.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
They're don't you look up?
Speaker 3 (09:02):
You look up?
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Like I almost wish Houston would have gotten in it, though,
is watching okay See and Houston go at it like
two young teams Like that was actually an enjoyable game.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
I would have loved that to be a serial seven series.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
I can see them, I can see them getting better
next year.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Another thing I've been saying, and I've been kind of
had this is like me and KG on our podcast,
been talking about this all year long, like we don't
want to say it or accept it in some type
of way, but we right now we're in the middle
of the changing of the Guard, like it's it's and
I said the other day, I said, it's it's a
new update. You know, you gotta update your iPhone.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
To ketch up now down two, you know, Steph Curry
not even in the player.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
We don't want to let it go.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
We don't want to let that go, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Because they've been the faces and the champions.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
I think they've been trying to do that for the longest.
Look at the been going international. It's going to be
an international m v P.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Again, we know they've been going to agree with that.
Who's been I think Shade deserves he's international though. That's
what I'm saying right here, Canadian, That's what I'm saying.
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
So that's it's going to be an international m v
P no matter how it go. And that's what and
that's been that's what we've been doing for the last
four or five years.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Right, four years. Yeah, the talent at the top is.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
So now the game is more global. So they've been
preparing the movies players away.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Not it's not that they prepared to move him away,
it's just they.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
The marketing is ready to go. Yeah, we got the
marketing ready. We knew this day was coming.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Commercial commercials now with Joker, these guys we had.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Everyone said that wasn't marketable, and now he's in all
these commercials.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
On the move.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
He's looked like, who got the commercials? Right now?
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Who's the next.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Let's talk about this.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
We ask you this as we talked about I brought
that up. Now this who is the American that's on
the rise?
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Anthony Alwens.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Okay, if we got one, do we got Tato Edwards Tatum?
If they win, said he said, he said, if they win,
he been the Celtics.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
If they confidence down?
Speaker 4 (11:29):
How much is it down? Like about eight percent? Eight percent?
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Like get back up?
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Definitely I'm over here, like if they win, you know,
like he was like, will we win?
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Like you know what I mean, will we ain't never?
Ain't never? That will never be? Okay, we were just checking,
you know that. That's gotta be.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Kendrick Perkins talking about day saying like like he ain't
play for the Act, like he didn't play for the Cell.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Just don't he may get your.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Man right, but you guys missed another American player. We're
not gonna talk about.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
It's just this season not watching, you know what.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
You know what though, I will say this about Jayon Bruns.
He reminds me a lot of me, and I'll tell
you why. It's like damn, night in and night out,
he keeps doing the same thing. But it's just that
respect ain't there. It's like people ain't watching, people ain't
taking notice, and you're just gonna be like, oh, just
this year, but he just keep doing it.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Keep doing it, keep doing it.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
He ain't gonna be on no commercials, he ain't gonna
have no shoe, but he's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
He's gonna be in all n.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
B An you don't have a jersey, a jersey and
his Truth Lounge coming soon.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Jersey, Dangerous Field. We just split the difference, danger Field.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
You's gonna split the difference and I'm gonna start giving
him a respect.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
They win this series, I'm.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Like, all right, I can't fight it no more because
he's steady busting your favorite player.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Rass every yeah, every night.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
But he do it with a grit to It's like
it ain't just saying it ain't just.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
No fin it ain't exactly it ain't got no makeup.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
On it, no high hell, he game the right way,
like like.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
He's just coming out like this is it and take
this or leading. You gotta like that in the super
Star he's been doing.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
This in high school.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
You know he went to he was in Chicago for
high school. Well yeah, yeah, young it was like a
northern suburbans so we could just say but he went there.
He's a two time national champion. Come on, you gotta
get him some love and his dad played in the
league too.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
That helps.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
That's like Gilbert Arenas because where Gilbling from Valley?
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Yeah yeah, nobody he from LA. But nobody be like La,
like it is La. That's like that he's It's like
because you considered the Valley suburbs Chago, but I'm not
like you're not.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
It sounds good, it sounds good. It'll be like I'm
from La.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
The It's that time of the year, the NBA postseason

The new movie Boy Kills World, starring Bill Skarsgard as
the one man killing machine who is trained from childhood
to avenge his family's murder by the Vanderkoyd Dynasty. Critics
are raving that Boy Kills World is a brutal and
twisted al rated Looney Tunes on Acid and Glifo Lunency.
Get ready for Martial Arts Mayhem and getting tickets now
(15:58):
Boy Kills World his theaters on April twenty six. Rateed
are Another thing that's interesting that we ain't really given
no light because it's just so many other like narratives
to go. But you we got to talk about this
Milwaukee series with the Pacers. It's tied up one one
and it don't look like there's no light at the
end of the tunnel for Giannis and his injury. You know,
(16:20):
I don't know the extent of it. But you know,
I've had some stress on my handstring not necessarily a
calve to.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
How you said injury, like you strained the calf before.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, talk about that like like like what goes into that,
Like what's the what's the mental or or just even
the physical part of how like is he you think
he's coming back?
Speaker 5 (16:40):
It's a shop pain for one, and then it feels
like every time you walk in it feel like it's tearing.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
It's tearing even more.
Speaker 5 (16:48):
And so it's about a I want to say, a
three to five week injury, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
And then even when you come back, you ain't really
feeling that. And then you got a.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
Car got to counter in conditioning strength. You gotta refocus
on your lift. You know you're gonna be scared to
make aggressive movements and your dribbles. So I don't see
him coming back. But the credit to Milwaukee. I like
how they have been playing. He's been holding up his
end of.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
The bark even hold of it, carrying lean his truths.
But he's gonna need some help, man.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
But game three right is militant out for Game three?
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Oh, I don't know. Question what they supposed to do.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
They came in and got tough, like to lose Middleton,
and yes, so we hope he's in there. Just yeah,
for the sake of the series.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
You think of the series? All right, it's one one, dude,
Milwaukee got a shot to get out.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
The first round.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
What you think? What's your opinion?
Speaker 2 (17:40):
I was so conflicted when I had to choose the
winner of the series because I do feel like there's
been like drama going both ways where I feel like
Tyres after the All Star break kind of had a
little bit of a slump and then also, yeah, Tyre's Halliburton.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Yeah, I just know Holliburton, Halliburton.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Okay, But anyways, I and also with the Bucks, there
was a lot of drama going on there. I feel like,
especially he was the best in the league. Oh Tyres Maxy,
come on, I don't even really have to think about
that one. I just thought, yeah, did he he won
Most Improved Player? Right, So yeah, you gotta go with
Tyrese Maxy on that one. But okay, so I'm I
(18:20):
chose the Pacers PS. I did because again Jannis's injury.
I did think there was some stuff going on with
Dame mentally that I feel like can definitely impact the game. However,
I Dame Time in the playoffs. That's a different beast.
You can't count Dame Time out different. But I do
think uh, one player that we don't factor in with
(18:43):
the Pacers is possible siak Man.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
He is the most polished player because he's he has
a ring. He's been deep in the playoffs to chip
prove and he looking like he looking like Dame Time.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
But there's no matchup for him in this city. He's long,
there's no match up for him.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
I wouldn't know that, Joe, He's what I wouldn't know that.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
They give.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
You wouldn't know that. No, you're right though, he's been
serving man. I'm talking about from.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Thee straight height exactly.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
You gotta be clean, you gotta turn square over here.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
He's six ft.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Nine, he's tall, long wingspan, measurements of his arms, the basketball.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Bringing down, bringing down crowd, you gotta go.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
You gotta be si around here for the breaking down.
We're talking about a long wingspan of arms, okay for
basketball and finishing around the rim.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Okay, okay, thirty games, Jesus gonna give you thirty six. Yeah,
I got the Pacers in this.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
I just think just over the course of a seven
game series that the Pacers can kind of like wear
them down because of how they they pace a play.
And then eventually Halliburn's got to have a great game.
I mean, he's he hasn't really played well, I think
to his standards, and I just think eventually he gonna
have a breakout game, and I might be Game three
(20:24):
when they need it, when they get to uh As
they go home and play in the next He.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
What he said, He said, Milwaukee crowd is weak.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
He said that. He said that, he said, he said,
he said that.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
He said, yeah, planning here, well, he said, what do
y'all get to Indeapolis and here are crowd said this
was weak for.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
The playoffs in Indiana.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
It's pretty rough, it's pretty it's pretty loud up there.
That's a basketball that's a basketball city, and they don't
have nothing to do out there but go to the
basketball game, in the football game. Anyway, they go to
the Coast game, and they go to Indiana game, they
go home. You know, it's not to do out there.
They just it's just all sports. And that's why if
(21:04):
you notice in a lot of those cities, they got
the best crowds. Like Cleveland nothing to do, you know,
And I'm never going to Cleveland unless I have to
go to a Cleveland game and play.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
I do have a question for you. Do you remember
when you you played in your first playoff game and
what that experience was like and how it different, how
it was different from actually playing in the regular season.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
It was so ready for it, you know what.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
I always because I dreamed about it so much and
I always watched it on TV. And you know, I
think what really helped prepare me was playing at Kansas
University because I played in front of some amazing crowds
and it was just like it's a different it's a
different energy when you walk in there because it's like,
you know, every game means something like you could be
(21:48):
going home next week, and it's just like you walk
in there and you you take a deep breath and
you like, you get goose bumps at first. It's like
you hear you're getting the layup line, and you you ready.
It's hard because the eighty two game season, you like,
you up some days, down some days, and the motivation
is there, it's there, but you know that it's a
(22:09):
long it's a long marathon. It's just like you know
when you get a workout, Like for me, like if
I'm working out and I know the workout playing, once
i start getting toward I'm doing it and I'm knowing it,
it's like it look hard. It's hard as ship and
I'm I got success of this, and I'm just like damn.
But when you start getting down to them last sets,
you're like you you know how you push it out?
You know it's and that's what the playoffs feel like.
(22:30):
You're like, all right, this we down to the last sets,
so it's time to it's time to give you all
you got or or it could be over. But like
it's just We played Philadelphia l Iverson, which was you know,
the Eastern Conference champs from a year ago. They went
to the finals and you know the answer coming in
your building and that that's that's that energy, that that
(22:50):
energy is different.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
So that was my first playoff series. It went five games.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
We wanted in five games because that's when the series
first round was only five games, so it's best of
five and we won a game five. So that was
that was that was That was a member one one
for me too, So yeah, it was it was like that.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
What about you?
Speaker 5 (23:09):
What was your first playoff series man against Reggie Miller?
Speaker 3 (23:13):
We played Indiana, Play Indiana.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
It's funny that you brought that up because I remember
getting the tip dunk and getting the rebound out of the.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Just getting that first basket in the playoff game? What
do that feel like? That felt good? That's what I'm trying.
I got the first bosket. Yeah, I got the tip dunk. Boom.
Speaker 5 (23:32):
Reggie Miller was trying to hurry up and take the
ball out of the man. I grabbed it and pushed
it in his stomach. Okay, he told me, young fella,
you was just woke me up. He went on the
next game and had thirty four damn.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
And they beat us in that city. I remember that
was that the one where Ricky was like, we gonna sweep. Yeah,
we're gonna sweep.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
We're gonna sweep. We like, get out the broom, get
off the brooms. I think, look.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
Games, who was the point guard?
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Then we had Gary Payon. I think we lost the
next wor.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Orlando, come on with our guy.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Lost to seven? Oh man? Yeah? Yeah, who was our guy?
Who we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
I went, I can't think of his name right now.
He was our guy, was a point guard.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Oh, Chucky Akins.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
Chucky Atkins.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Yeah, look, hey, look so we what happenedd we lose
a series or we was in the middle of the
series when we went up to.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
The lush that day we had it was about to lose.
Oh so we we.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Got Chucky Akins at the part at the point, So
I think me Jay was in town.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
So we go to land to.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Uh Newberry Street to eat, and we eat and then
I look up and Chucky I think he ordered about
like four shots.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
So I'm like, what you doing. He's like, man, the
season about to be over for us. He had no comfort.
I think that was.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
A year we probably got swept by somebody. We was
down three yard or something.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Today was like, no, I'm trying to win.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Get down three yh were gonna have a good line
to play tomorrow. He had like three shots of patron like,
I'm like with you, man, I'm about to lose anyway.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
I was like, god, damn, that's crazy. Yeah, I ain't
that crazy.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
So what was it like for both of you to
kind of be in the NBA when it was making
that transition of not being as intense basketball like not
you know, the fall calls, and just not letting you
guys be as as gritty.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Oh no, I mean when he could speak to that
because he came in on two eras, see what era
you can hold?
Speaker 3 (25:41):
You can actually hold its.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
No, I'm gonna tell you why I saw, like the
handhat change. That the first change I saw. It's when
I got to Washington, right, because I came from culture Celtics,
this and that Brooklyn was even a little something. But
when I got to Washington, I was just like it's different,
you know, because I'm getting I'm used to getting to
practice early. You know, we got shoot around at ten.
(26:05):
I'm there at a eight thirty on my left, run
get some shots. I' might have a full leather. Then
I got to Washington, we had our first shoot around.
I remember we was at the Arena and so I'm
out there shooting, like I know, I'm kind of early,
and so I'm not expecting nobody to be out there.
So I'm just kind of sitting on around and got
my workout in. So it's about like nine to fifty five.
You know, it ain't nobody on the court, yet I'm
(26:26):
looking like So I went in the locker room like
where everybody had. Everybody was on their phones, and I
was like, damn, what what everybody doing? Like everybody this
was Twitter was out, you know, it's there's on Instagram
and on Twitter. I'm like, oh, this this is when
I knew that the NBA started changing over and it
started becoming less competitive and you know, rules started changing
(26:47):
and no more bumping in the lane, and they were
just like, damn, this is what the NBA is.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
And that that's when I knew.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
I think at Washington what I think it was like,
I was like, yeah, my time is pretty much up here,
you know. And that's why like when I when I
was done in Washington, I said, you know what, I'm
gonna just go sign with the Clippers because that's where
I live and just finish out my days at home
around my family and everything. But that's when I already
saw it. I think that was like two thousand and fourteen, fifteen,
(27:13):
twenty fifteen, and uh, in Washington, I saw that.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
So but yeah, he was already off the league. He
was already washed. He didn't see me, he didn't see
he didn't see the change over. We played the Clippers
and get off the bench. He was gay. He had
table reservation for us. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I see what
(27:42):
we're doing. After that, I'm gonna call you. I know
he was washing bath the least nineteen years he was washed.
All but his seventh year he was washed. I asked
what was in the Gaeray company? Was great? It shouldn't
(28:03):
have been no gator ring for real, damn right.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
But kind of to your point of seeing just the
fousand things change, I did come into an eraror where
we flat out just had the arm ball, you know,
And I used to hear them attest to saying, you know,
they changed the rules now. Back in the day, I
used to head check, you know what I'm saying. And
so this this this bucketot.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
To be easy. I'm ana score all day.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
And you know, just seeing that, you know now you
can't even put your armbro on them now.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
You can't kids gonna score fifty nowadays.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
But then here's a good follow up. We see in
the playoffs they're calling games differently. So what about players
who are maybe just getting into the league and they
see a different level of basketball in the regular season,
and they're making the playoffs and they're seeing that they're
allowing more defensive effort.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
It's always been always been like like the is always
gonna be harder to cause you getting the regular.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Season, they're not gonna carry out.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
You ain't gonna be getting them saying calls. Because we
saw that with James Harden. Because James Harden was just
annihilating the league in Houston, getting twenty free throws at night.
Then when he got to the playoffs, then free throws
was couldn't have because they was like, oh no, we're
not going for that no more. So I like it.
You know, it brings more intensity to the game and
it makes it harder. Uh But that's what playoff basketball is.
And that's why you gotta respect the champion every year
(29:17):
because they you know, they went through something. You're gonna
have to go through something to win. It's gonna be hard.
I'm telling you. If you get in your mind. Doc
used to always say this and say, lord, listen, y'all,
it's not gonna be easy. Expected to be hard. So
when you go to the lane and you get this
and they go out the bells.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Don't expected expect it because they might not call that Look,
this is that's a foul. They might not call that
the playoffs. I didn't seen it. So wrap your run.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Once you wrap your mind around that to where you
not at the officials and you're just like, all right,
next play, next play, then you just got yourself mentally
ready for that. I have to wrap my mind around
that to be like, you're right. So now I get fired.
I'm like, all right, you know, next play, no foul. Okay,
So I'll start picturing myself when I used to play
at Rogers Park in the hood, babey where I grew
up at. You know, you ain't getting no calls, you know,
(30:10):
So it just brought me back to that. So I've
already been through this. So look, man, I like to
thank Ashley Neville for joining us here.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Whenever you're in.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Lame stop by the truth flowns. You always welcome. Good
friend of mine. Been knowing her for some years now,
so we appreciate and respect your basketball opinion.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
So anytime you're around, you're always welcome. This is a
home for you, all right, thank you.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
This is fun.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
I'm gonna actually I want to come spend.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
The day here. Ds up the truth Lound summer edition
is gonna be lit.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
All right, I'm gonna be here. I'm gonna overstay my welcome.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Thanks for joining us as thank you, appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
We just watched Sixers in the Knicks Game three and
be drops fifty without a blink. What's your reaction to
that they bad in the series is.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Two to one?
Speaker 1 (31:01):
They and their leader responded like I feel your leader
should like everybody complaining about if you don't get the
ball of this, But if you want.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
To respond, that's how you respond as.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
A leader as an m v P in this league
for real, Right, what I'm just saying if you wanted
them dudes in the statement though, because that's a statement, right,
him being hurt.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
We watched him hobble through there. He's had an injury
retal career.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
You know.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
My question is just can he sustain this to get
the Philadelphia Sixers to what they need to be as
an organization.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
I ain't gonna even lie down, Look like what what
percentage would you put in be that?
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Right now?
Speaker 1 (31:43):
No percentage of like where is that today? How physically
I'm saying where fresh?
Speaker 3 (31:52):
You could tell them listen to this? So y'all telling me,
you got a fifty EMBIID in the playoff.
Speaker 7 (32:00):
Playoffs, giving you fifty Yeah, that's scary, that's crazy because
before he got hurt, he was at an mv he
was it was looking like, oh look, it looked like
he about to run to back to back MVPs.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
But I just feel like shout out to him. B.
Brunton responded, had his best game of the series, but
it wasn't enough. But as a leader, as one of
them dudes in the league, this is how you respond.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Amazing response.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
So we gonna see, you know, what these other teams
do moving forward. You know, we ain't we ain't gonna
talk about it now, but we're gonna see how these
other cash respond who supposed to be them dogs in
the league to one. Now, you know, the Jersey Brunton Jersey.
We still got a win. So I'm feeling good. I'm
feeling good that momentum and now, yeah they got it. Listen,
(32:49):
if they hold court at home, yeah yeah yeah, but
they look they look strong at home. The role players
look strong at home, and B definitely stepped up like
a leader in the MVP of this leak, like like
if you see your leader do that as role players.
That's giving you confidence because now you're like, Okay, he's
showing up.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
He on one leg, one.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Eye, step up to help him out.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Yeah, I mean he got something.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
They haven't done that yet, No they have, but they
just he they the leader took it upon himself. He
ain't blaming other people like I see some of these
other teams like, oh he didn't step up tonight.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Na, you know what, I got this. I got this.
You know what I'm saying. It's a difference.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
You know what I'm saying, like you got pieces, but
I I can't rely on that right now.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
You know.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
It's like if you tell somebody to go do something,
a hey, hey, can you do this for me? But
then you're saying like, damn, if they're gonna really pick
up the money and bring it over here, drop it
off over here, and then bring the mail put it
right there. And then now you're thinking like, damn, you
know what, I should have did it myself because I
knew it would have got done.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
That's what he was on. I thought he had a
good help with behind him to the crowd was there.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
But you see what I'm I ain't putting it in
nobody else hand, because I don't know if it's gonna
get done the right way. That's what that's what I'm
talking about, taking it, taking it, organization on your back, rightfully. So,
but that's a lot, that's a that's a that's a
huge I don't know if he can do it every night.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Say every night did But what he did do is,
let me say what he did.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
He psychologically gave his team something to believe. Now now
they believe they can beat them.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
So the truth thinking like he on one leg he
given me.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
No, I don't think he did that.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
No psychological confidence. You're not confident, like, damn.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
No, because he's still not healthy. I'll be healthy.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
But it's like now you feel like you gotta do
You feel like you need to do more. So he
don't have to do that. Man, he gave us a win.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
So we're grateful. We're grateful. But I'm looking at him
in that training room, praying over everybody in there. They
got the bibles out, they got all the equipment out
in the room. I don't know if he's gonna be
available for the next game. I mean every game is
questionable for the next game.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Him. If you just score fifty you ready for the
next game.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
You know that was a cold performance right now, this
big money stuff the doctor in there.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Listen, I hear what you're saying. Bro Listen, I'm listening
to me saying.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
But listen, you gotta get another about the physical aspect
because you talked about the team. I want to see
him healthy to make me really feel good because that
performance was a win for us. And let me tell
y'all something, the difference between good and great players. The
good players, you know, they might have shot out, but
(35:48):
because he's great, and y'all talk about the physical stuff
for me, the eye this that's all physical.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
That's his body. But right here, this is what he
showed me today.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Like, I don't give a about none of that from
a different clothes exactly, No, he.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Did damn about none of that. He did. My knee hurt.
I can't blink my eye. He did that.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
So so part is what I'm trying to tell you.
That trickles down to your team.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Looking at that like that, his body is beat up,
but he you you can push your mind to a
limit to like you like, I don't give a damn
about none of that.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
You see what I'm saying. Your mind gonna carry you.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
His mind his mindset carried me, and that told me
a lot about him. That told me a lot about him.
He won't we're saying he had fifty percent. You saying
he on one knee.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
How man on fifty percent on one knee? Get fifty there?
How that happened?
Speaker 1 (36:39):
He's cold because his mindset, bro, no doub mindset. You
have a great mindset from that got to so listening
and y'all seeing this like dog, put train your mind.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
And your body gonna follow.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
I promise you you get your mental rights, and don't
make no excuses, and don't be blaming everybody else the cold.
They not doing this. They not my knee. Nah, don't
do nah, no, Nah, you got it. You take it
upon yourself to do what you need to do. He oh,
tell me back to day, man. You can't take a
(37:13):
day off. You might miss the playoff.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Man.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Then we go, so hey, that kind of makes sense, man,
resemblance of what everything he's saying. But I ain't gonna lap.
He's scary man seeing him, You know, shoot a shot
after every shot been there before. I been on one leg.
Ide had a turf toe. I didn't and I don't
even tell people about this, like, nah, this ain't I
ain't about to use this as no scapegoat.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
I ain't about to use this.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
This is some different type of It's like you do
you know how you see players who who don't perform
well and they be like, well, yeah, he had an
illness or yeah he's he's playing on. I've never seen
Iverson do that. He had every ailment and his body
messed up. They had put a chart up one day
in the playoffs. I remember seeing it, like yesterday.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
I remember that chart.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
He had elbow, knee, ankle, shoulder entry chart. It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
That's good, but that's the mindset and that's what I
feel like this generation is lacking. They talented, yeah, they
hell of talented, but let him get a jam toe
or let him get an m c L something like.
My question is too though, you know, brotherhead thirty nine,
he played a lot better than the first two games.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
You still think the momentimum, what is it?
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Well, I think I think him playing well took away
from other players playing well that played well before when
they won.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
You know what I'm saying, think.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
About that, well, I think he took the same amount
of shots. I think he had.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
More higher percentage har and he took this he took
less shots.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Actually the usage we have more as this usage, So
now he's holding more because he's on that it's taking
away from them.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
That's not.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
That's so didn't do that well to night, he said.
But I ain't saying that's why they lost. That's probably
why he lost.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
And he played well, which is great because when he
played well, they usually win. But what I'm saying is
they won the two games without him playing well, without
him shooting the ball well.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
So it took away.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
You didn't get fifty from him, bid like that was
the difference. The games was closed and being got fifty.
If and b gets thirty nine, that's a different games game.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
I'm gonna put us on our back. Yeah, you're right, Yeah,
he got moving forward. Who you like in this series
right now? If I had to pick Man, I'm gonna roll.
I'm gonna roll with Brunton Man because it's easy for
us guys to falling suit with a healthier leader Man Brunston.
All he had to do was just get his mind
(39:42):
right now. The troops are all in place. I got
my game in place. Let's move forward and get out
of this. We got moving forward to one. I got
the next, but you still got you got the next,
which means you got to wear that jersey. Player a
few weeks ago. We're gonna run a clipback of where
me and Jame was talking about it. Brunts and out
the first round or the Knicks. I wear Brunston jersey
to the this game. Might not make it to the
(40:03):
next game, they might not give me tickets, but I
will represent him on the show and show my respects.
You know, I mean, he didn't earn my respect anyway.
Now you know I was on the Knicks all year.
He's earned my respect.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
I can't. I can't. Hey players, no players, Hooper's no Hoopers.
He a Hooper.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
I ain't gonna lie he a hooper man because he
wear the New York Knicks jersey. Who's our rivals in
New York, New York's in general, you know Boston New
York thing. You know I'm a I'm a troll. Then
I'm gonna say things, but respect, disrespect, no doubt, no
doubt about that brun Shout out to his dad.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
You know who you got.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
So moving forward, I think I still think Philly is
the more talented team, and I feel like they're more
of a threat to the to the later rounds than
New York would be.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
So I think overall, no.
Speaker 4 (40:56):
You think, do you think Embeed can last? Like he's
given performances, he's going crazy.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
I mean, I might be that fifty percent, but but
can he gets up?
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Can he keep it.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Percent thirty three? He can? He got there?
Speaker 1 (41:16):
This is fifty percent back on defense, y'all. I'm taking
it be that twenty five percent?
Speaker 4 (41:21):
Can he make it through the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Yeah? This is makes I think they're gonna get through
this series because.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
You see a thread for later round.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
So if they won't, because yeah, yeah, but I just
say this, just say this series. I think they'll get
through this series. I think it's gonna take him all seven.
But I think Philly long run. It's gonna get this serious.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
So he still believe in trusting the process. I believe.
Speaker 4 (41:44):
But this is a great first round series that I
like the grits what it is. If we're debating it,
it's a great first round set. We're not even we're
going back and for It's a great first round series
and that's what the NBA playoffs is right now, great
first round series.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
All right, fellas action Cleveland, Orlando, my boy, Frank Wagner,
Paolo bancro ain't be getting enough light on this playoff scene.
They got the NBA TV series, so it's still there's
still no respect like the Calves or They got to.
Speaker 4 (42:14):
Give them light though, because this is we're looking at Orlando.
They went out there, they took the heat, they came
home and had no business in a major way. Polo
stepped up with thirty one point fourteen rebound game. Yeah,
got the win. He got the win. He put Cleveland
back on his heels. He got a chance to tie
that series up. Can Orlando get through this series?
Speaker 1 (42:39):
I still think this was just thinking about Orlando. They
ahead of the curve because a year ago there was
one of.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
The worst teams.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Yo yo, Rookie of the year, second year player is
an All Star, So that's already ahead of the game
because that that's not normal. It's not a lot of
players in they second to make All Stars. So and
that and saying that they made a top five seed
in the second year of the old franchise player so
that speaks values I don't look for them to win
(43:09):
this series. It was a good effort. Yeah, they showed pride.
They showed some pride, like they got fight back because
before it looked like Cleveland got the experience. They gonna
just slap these youngsters. They happy to be here. They
was like, nah, we ain't happy to be here.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
We here.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
But in saying that, I think ultimately Cleveland wins the series.
Speaker 3 (43:31):
But I like the fact that Orlando was like.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
Stood up at hosts, chess up, cheering up, chess up,
cheering up chess out right.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
You feel they went home? Yeah, I like that. I
think this is gonna be done in six.
Speaker 1 (43:48):
They went and got home. Man, you know, they take
their normal routes to the game. They slapping their own bed,
you know, crowd behind them. I'm pretty sure they you know,
they had a good, nice rest. Coach probably scored them
a little bit.
Speaker 5 (44:00):
But uh, like you say, man, I see Cleveland being
a more veteran Poins team, and uh, they didn't get swept,
so cause I showed thought they was gonna get swept.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
But yeah, it looked like they was happy to be here.
I thought they was happy to be here. But they
showed me they like, we here and we're gonna year
the way to respond, way to respond respond? They yeah,
so all right, just moving forward. They won about like
THEYMN there forty. They got a chance to get back
in this series. You think you think they gotta show.
Speaker 4 (44:30):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to game four. I'm looking forward
to game four to see how they respond from a win.
Sometime responding from a loss bills that it builds that
like nah, because they're young, so they want to fight. Now,
how do they handle this win?
Speaker 3 (44:44):
Do they do?
Speaker 4 (44:45):
They have that same energy? They come back with that
same mindset of being the underdogs, understanding were steal down
and we're coming for them. We want to see that
and that's what we were looking for it in game four.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
That's funny saying because I normally like the young teams.
I'm looking at, know, Minnesota, I'm looking at Okay, see.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
I still think they got more room to fill out,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (45:07):
Right before they start making some noise like I don't
see them like no star that they got that could
actually well pollows the start.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
But but he ain't polished enough to me to wear
right right right, he's just getting them.
Speaker 5 (45:19):
He's getting them out of that first round, you know
what I'm saying, And so I don't see them getting
out of this round. I see Donovan Mitchell making some
noise this year. I like the way him in Garland.
I want to and and a lot of people been
saying they can't mess. You know what I'm saying, They
got too They playing an old traditional way too, bigs
and you know what I'm saying, no stretch, so they
(45:40):
making it work defensively on that end. But uh, I say, Cleveland,
they still got more minimum.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
You got Cleveland, I got what games how? In the
Games six, Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (45:53):
I'm gonna go with. I'm gonna go with Orlando in seven.
Speaker 1 (45:57):
I say they, I say, but the thing is, as
they the young team, I don't like them on the road.
Like I was saying before, they don't they got that
same ride to the but but going against them, the
free throws don't even feel the same.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
You know, I'm not already against you. I'm pulling for
him more so, Okay, in this series, I'm not gonna
say everything you saying. I'm not. I'm not debating one hundred.
I'm just saying I'm pulling for him. Let me just
say that I would like to see them.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
Win right now.
Speaker 4 (46:31):
But if they're not already, we'll see how they respond
next year. But I would like to see them have
that grit to go in Cleveland and win the game.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
Seven. All right, y'all, that you have it.
Speaker 1 (46:40):
So I got Cleveland and six, I got Philly in seven,
you got Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
And what I got Cleveland and six? I don't see
them getting, said Orland and seven.
Speaker 4 (46:56):
Orlando and seven they got next and six. Next I
got is winning in Philly and the after party at
Villanova University. They're gonna don't pop up.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Yeah, they gonna pop up to the college when they
own stuff on campus.
Speaker 4 (47:12):
Man, they own bars and all that on campus. Bro,
it's grown people.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
What is he talking about?
Speaker 4 (47:16):
Grown people? The villa we're villing over the three players
in the starting line. No, they're gonna win in.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
Philly, and they're gonna be hey, y'all, they're gonna be
out say less, shout out.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
To three players on Philly, is what I'm saying from
Villanova at that point. Got the three players on Villanova
and Kyle Laurie over there. They're gonna win in in Philly.
And that's what's gonna happen, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
So you said they're gonna go to the college campus
and the kick.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
Back over there, why not make a lot of money
like that?
Speaker 3 (47:49):
Hey man, hey man, that's another edition of the Truth Louds.
Thanks for joining us.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
Get back over with us next week because it's gonna
be some of your favorite teams that's not gonna be
in the playoffs no more.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
So we're gonna have to holler about that. Were out
in
Speaker 1 (48:01):
The two flown when the West Coast five strong partys
indicates about the particle nine more sipping on some liquor
got the smoke filling the air cut on the grill,
