Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, so I didnet went through my storage if.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
I haven't brought none of this stuff out for a
very long time, but I think I.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Got some jewels in here.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Let's check this out, man, I just saw some stuff
I haven't seen it quite some time. Oh man, check
this out. Draft Hat nineteen ninety eight, Vancouver. Boom right there,
that's crazy. Two thousand and two, two thousand and three,
my first bibble head Man, This don't even look like me.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Dog, What is this? Just let me know I made
it though.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Oh check this out. This was on my wall as
a kid in high school. Jordan poster off the Whitties Box. Look,
I still got the tape on it. This heard on
my wall all through high school. One of my idols,
Jordan off the Whitty's Box.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I probably got this in say, the tenth grade. Yeah,
this is one of the posters of my home in Inglewood.
All right, what else we got here?
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
My boy Kita from Africa, he made me this. He
was the one that brought us the culture of Mbutu
the year we won a championship, so he would always
bring me things like this made in his country. This
is my shoe Actually, this is my signature shoe. He
made it with all wires, so this is pretty dope
(01:32):
and I've always kept this. All right, let's go through
this more.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh bo oh.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
My first ever NBA game on the road Miami. I
remember we played Toronto, but we went on the road
versus Miami. I had some clutch shots nineteen points this game.
I got a game versus the New York Knicks. Oh,
this is the I Love you Mom game, twenty four points.
She even labeled it like that new jersey twelve one
(02:06):
zero one. I think that was the game. I had
forty six second half points. Kids don't even know what
this is today. These are VHS tapes. They going a VCR.
They like, what is that? This is how we watched
the recorded games and played it back. We didn't have
stream and record and save it to whatever you save
(02:29):
it to. This is how we saved our games. So
these are some jewels now right here. Number fifteen for
the USA Select Team Paul Pierce. We almost beat the
Dream Team. This is in ninety six. I believe our
ninety six versus Dream Team two almost beat them, y'all.
(02:52):
I still got the jersey. Don't look you can tell
stuff is all?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
All right?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
What else we got in here? Damn, we got some
jewels in here. We got the k Swiss Pacers. Baby,
oh man, check that out. This is my first AU squad.
Boom boom, check it out, k Swiss Pacers. Oh nah,
(03:21):
y'all wouldn't believe this one though. I gotta show y'all
this one. Oh Sports illustrated with Kevin Garnet when he
first talked about going to the league. And if you
zoom in, look at my name. My address was on there.
This was when I was still living in the neighborhood
(03:41):
right here. You catching that? This is go ticket? You
gotta sign this for me, bro. All right, that's just
a few things though. I got some jewels in here.
I'm not gonna go through everything. But you know one
more thing though, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
Young pe Kansas. Oh yeah, look at that form. Look
(04:04):
at that form. Yeah, you knew I was gonna make it.
Check that form out. That's just a few things, man,
I wanted to show y'all. So welcome to the Truth Lounge.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yo, y'all, y'all, Welcome to the Truth Loud.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
It's going down to day, all.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Right, everybody, welcome to the Truth Lounge. Of course, I
got my co host Jake crow r Low from Houston
back with us. Christmas is coming up, and guess what,
I'm ready. I hope you are. Let's talk MVP. I
(04:57):
know Joker has been the favorite so far as putting
up ridiculous numbers, but this team ain't that good. So
you know, for me, I done seen somebody average the
triple double. I mean, I know he leading the league
and rebounds top five and scoring assists.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Who you think is or should be the MVP as
of today? You're going Joker? I know you.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
You know when he said something, you said something, So
you said, you said two things that go in his
favorite You said his team is not good. Yeah, so
that makes you more valuable.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Oh no, I saw a stat that like he's in
the playoffs, him out the game they ranked lasting offense
and defense, and him in the game they like ranked for.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
You said, okay, so you said it's team not good. Yeah,
they in the playoffs as bad as they are, they're
not good.
Speaker 6 (05:50):
Anything that's got good. They got good, they got good players.
You said they're not good. They're not good, they're not
playing good. What they're in the playoffs. Whatever, the sixth,
they're in the playoffs, the sixth, the end, so they are.
They tell me they're two and a half games out.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
Of second with the guys. Okay, I'm rolling so as
of right now with a bad team. When he's out
they week. When he's in there the best, he's the
m v P. That's it. So yesterday, right now, today
we got award.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Just give it to him.
Speaker 7 (06:31):
So yesterday, I'm at the game right, Rockets playing the.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
S g A.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Right they're playing in the semi final game, and it's
obvious that when they need a bucket, he can get
you one effortless lead.
Speaker 7 (06:48):
If the Rockets, If.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
The Rockets on any kind of run and they haven't
scored two or three possessions, asgat get to the mid range,
he can go to the three.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
I mean, it's easy work this year to start a
team and taking.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Luca right now, who you're taking Luca or.
Speaker 7 (07:06):
Miamps of today.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
Is good man?
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Who you taking j or Luca?
Speaker 7 (07:10):
J is my ov P?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Right now? Who you taking?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
S j A?
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I know who your people? Who you taking? Like, come on,
let's go, let's go.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
I'm a coach, so I'm taking whoever you not, I mean,
gave me one.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Who's the better player?
Speaker 5 (07:24):
I don't know Luca Joker is the better player. That's
why we're not arguing. Ain't nothing to argue about.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
You're talking about these two point guards, though, who's the
better point guard? Who's the best point guard in the league.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
We don't have one. We have a lot of great guys.
Who's there's nobody. That's because we don't have nobody. Like magic,
when it was like who's the best.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
The best lead is the best lead guard?
Speaker 5 (07:48):
You can't be the best when it's the debate.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
I think I just told you about Jo.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
Yeah, he's playing great point guard at thanks.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Why what about his impact on winning? If John it's
hard to Simp's didn't make the playoffs last If you.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Compound, compound the paint on John and you make him
shoot three, shoot the mid range, he struggled.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
You pound the paint on him. He's so smart he
gonna jam you in for shooters. That's why he's a
point guard.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
But what if what if he has to get it?
Speaker 5 (08:25):
He don't have to say.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
At six feet so I'm taking today, I'm taking I'm
taking whoever I can get taken s G A and
I'll tell you why, because I like that. I feel
like they can both score pretty well. I just like
his effort on defense a little more and he don't
complain to the rest. That's the one thing Luca that
(08:54):
kind of like holds him back sometimes. You know, he
got exposed in the finals on defense.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
And in the wear in the finals, he was in
the final.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
He got there.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Okay, sometimes that's what it take and take.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
You get into the tops and say, oh, you got
exposed right there.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
So you know, there was no other teams in the
West that can expose him like that.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
So SGA wasn't in the West. Let these guys speak
the argument.
Speaker 7 (09:30):
But you always been looking like a man possessed.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
In the last couple of weeks, Yeah, he looked like
he goes to school every time he gets the ball.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
I love Giannis because everybody to keep talking trying to
figure out why he's not great. Giannis is an unstoppable
being and he can do everything on the basketball court.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
If they had a one on one tournament in the NBA,
I'm taking Jannis and a one on one tournament, I'm
taking Joker.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
You got three.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
He definitely taking a joker, Joker.
Speaker 6 (10:09):
What's the key after three point.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yea?
Speaker 5 (10:16):
So what is the highest the trump everything? The Joker.
Speaker 6 (10:21):
Pull that Joker out and the Joker stops shooting this
over a d he figured it out.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
It's not listening. Listen, listen, listen to the Joker.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Giannis has a better chance at guarding him, then Joker
has a better chance at guardianis.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
This is the thing. We're gonna get on this right quick,
real quick. We're gonna move on. We just said that
he's the number one when he gets in the game
with his crew. He's so intelligent.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
This is what it is not talking about.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
We're gonna trick you into the bad shot.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Lay off, you take, you.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
Fall, You're gonna take a aren't you fall?
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Charging ones?
Speaker 5 (11:01):
But you're gonna fall because he's not gonna be ready
for it and gonna get there.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Ain't no charge my ball.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
Health and.
Speaker 7 (11:10):
A healthy and bid and be and be it. It's
better than Joker and b. He's a better defendive.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
Inbeid, a healthy inbiad.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
That's what you say, that's what we're talking about.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
We're talking about control that you can't talk about. You
want a healthy one.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
You only talking about playing one one day? Is wealk?
What is he right?
Speaker 5 (11:29):
You can't I want a healthy who don't want a healthy,
healthy and bead healthy.
Speaker 7 (11:33):
Honess or a healthy yoker? Joker? Who you want to
take the ones I'm taking all day. I'm taking in
bid and.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
He's gonna take one dribble and cut him off. He's
gonna spin and dunk on you. Every player.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
He's tough, man.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
So what's jokers move from the top, it's a joker.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
You don't know what.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Jake make you jud you know all his all his.
Speaker 6 (11:57):
Fake you make y'all a jump.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
He's good as starting from the elbow.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
If he ain't starting from the elbow and he's going
from the top of the kid, then I'm cool. He
started everywhere on the court.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
What you mean? Tatum is having a phenomenal year. He's
underappreciated year in and year out. Uh, He's just a
great basketball player. He's great every year.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
He's the person that's not talked about.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
He should be talked about. He should always stay in
the MVP category. But his team is so good. It
has so many dynamic players who bring so much to
the table that that's what holds him back. From being
talked about. But he's gonna produce numbers year in and
year out, and we'll appreciate him at some point in
his career.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
All Right, your MVP joker obviously joker. You got a
joker to win it this year, to win it this year,
at the end of the year, you're gonna say he
gonna win MVP.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
Junkers having the best season that I've seen anybody.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
I'm going with Taitum. I think they're gonna have a
best record. And we saw said coming first too.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, they gonna. I think they're gonna be in first,
coming first, So I'm gonna tell.
Speaker 7 (13:06):
Them they'll get an easy thirty.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
I've never seen somebody average thirty points who never scores
forty and never scores twenty. Yeah, he's like Red at
thirty thirty three points every game.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Exist.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
So listen. You on the Celtics, you being the captain,
what was it like in Christmas? Did you feel pressure?
Like I gotta I gotta like shine on these gifts.
I gotta show everybody on the t.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
We played that we did we did a secret Senta.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
You didn't do no true stuff like I'm the boss
all the young.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
No, no, we did Secret Senta. We was like, all right,
we're gonna put a name in the hat. Everybody put
your name in the bag or the hat, and then
you're gonna choose. But the funniest one though, right, the
funniest one. Everybody was like, I want to get p R.
KG because we gave our good gifts, you know what.
I alright, you want to get one of the big dogs,
you know, the Maxican.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Do what that Max contract? Get from them? So everybody
looking to get alight, say who you? Who you got? So?
Speaker 2 (14:03):
You know I remember Leon Poe, right, he got a.
He got Ray. I guess so like KG, come in.
He might get you the Gucci backpack or something, or computer,
the newest computer or something. Right, boom, you know I'm
gonna get you some fly you know, some Gucci kicks
or something.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Boom boom boom. Leon got a.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
I think Leon got Ray Allen the uh the full season,
like first season of Good Times DVD.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
He got him the whole season on DVD. It's Martin.
It was either Martin. I thought it was one of
them though it was Martin or d But he got
a whole DVD first season of Martin or no good time.
Do we look? Ray was like, who got me?
Speaker 2 (14:51):
This was blacking out.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Everybody was getting their gifts.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Everybody was pulling out like all right, oh they are
got this cool Louis bag.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
All right boom boom boom. Oh he gave me this dope,
you know, boo boom something. It was something.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Everybody had something dope, but Leon got the whole season.
Still he was cracking up. That was hilarious. That might
have been the funniest gift because based on you know.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
Whatever, Yeah, the locker room energy everybody was.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
But it was funny though.
Speaker 8 (15:23):
He got what he can afford, like I think we
had like a uh, I think it was like a
five hundred dollars minimum though like something like that.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Oh no, like yeah, yeah, he might have got him
like four or five seasons though.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
To get over the five hundred. Oh he had to
get he had to get about all the seasons.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Hey, speaking of Christians, when did it? When did Christmas
become the NBA day?
Speaker 7 (15:53):
Like what year was that?
Speaker 1 (15:54):
I don't know. I can remember far back Christmas from like.
Speaker 7 (15:58):
Damn you did the Kobe shack when they was balance.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Against each other.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
Like Jordan before that, they go back But.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
My first memory of the Christmas game was Jordan's you
know what I'm saying, Like, I don't remember nothing before that,
just watching Jordan on Christmas, just like, oh okay, the Christmas.
Christmas game was like the equivalent of the Thanksgiving game
for the NFL.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
You know, you're gonna sit down and watch these games. Uh.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
But so when I started to get involved in them,
I started playing on teams that played on Christmas, it
was like it was it was hype. You know, that
was like a privilege kind of like to play on Christmas.
You know everybody everybody watching, and it's like, damn, you
wanted them teams if you're playing on Christmas, Like back then.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
It was you as one of them teams.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Now they have a lot of games throughout the whole day,
but usually back then it's like one or two games
and that was it.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
They didn't know how to because they didn't have a
broadcast time.
Speaker 7 (16:57):
Behind it.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
Can we talk about this? Can we talk about raidings
though that's a big topic right now in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Yeah, we was talking about that because it's.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
Like now, the Christmas it gave you something to look
forward to. Do you think it's too much of it
on TV has something to do with that, being that
you look forward to those matchups instead of like, yeah,
seeing it every day is but the fan of you,
the competitive the rivalry, that's like the essence of the game.
Seeing that right libraries right now, because you don't see
(17:30):
those matches, commercials, commercials, Like you know what I'm.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Saying, that's what's missing from the league.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
You don't have no kind of like no individual rivalries,
and you don't have no team riberries, you know what
I'm saying. Like it was like damn, you knew, like
all right, Paul and Lebron matchup, or Magic and Bird matchup,
or Kobe and Lebron when they was in there, you
know when they had.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Their commercials, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
They had the Nike he had the commercials with him too,
so he was like they was thinking they was gonna
play in the finals boom boom boom. Or it was
just like you know, who's a rival?
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Who's vs?
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Now, Like we wanted to make Lebron and Dran a rival,
but like it, they went so many years they didn't
even play against each other because of injury or something. Right,
So like it's just it's it's watered down as far
as like that was like the plot and the story
behind the game. Like he couldn't wait for the Christmas
game because it was always gonna be like a story
behind it.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Like they got into.
Speaker 7 (18:27):
It, yeah each other.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Now they playing each other down, we go see you're
watching that closely, no real storyline.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
I think the last rivalry was probably hardened Rockets versus Warriors.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
Remember that the Warriors. It was Cleveland Cleveland and the
Warriors Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
The Warriors, I would say, turned into a rivalry because
they started playing each other in the finals.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
But like, but even that, that's only gonna be twice
a year. It's like when you had the old Sixers. Yeah, Celtics,
heat Celtics, because you're gonna get four of those games
a year and you're gonna have those type of matchups.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
I'm so like, So when I played, I think I
was part of like three different ribbalies. It was a
robbery versus obviously the Celtics and the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
It was a rivalry.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Then they started to get to be Miami Boom boom boom,
and then the next that was another ribbery. You know
what I'm saying, like I played, I had like three robberies.
Speaker 5 (19:29):
I think what's the name. It wasn't a robbery, but
it was great matchups because y'all kept fighting for things
with the nets. It's not something that has a longevity,
but in that little two to three year run, all right, right,
because that because y'all was it was like we gotta go.
Y'all got to the Eastern Conference because they was going
to the chip. Yeah, right there, and y'all was pushing, pushing,
and y'all team got right there close to pushing for
(19:50):
the chip. Yeah, So that wasn't really a rock but
it was. It was still it was starting to who's
gonna come out the East? So y'all got a battle.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
All regressed as a team.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
It's like we started taking pieces away and it was
just like there every time I was right there, it
was like, oh, nope, we're gonna rebuild.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
We're gonna rebuild. It's like damn.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
But the management ownership was changing different times.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Yeah, it was changing. At the time.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
You think Danny was a better GM or or the
one that's there.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Now, Uh well right now you got a Brad Stevens
is an amazing GM.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Different time well.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I think he molded Brad.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
You know what I'm saying, loaded situation he walked because
I know, I know they probably spent a lot of
time in the office together as general manager and coach,
you know what I'm saying, and picking each other brain
about like philosophies and players and what it's like to
build a team. I'm sure they did a lot of that.
That's why when Brad stepped away from the bench, he
went right upstairs. So people were just like, damn, he
(20:56):
don't have no no, but I bet there was a
lot of meetings with Danny and seeing the game that role.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Yeah, he was grood for that.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
So now you see him in his role as GM,
he gotta be like probably like top three or four
gms in the league. I mean, look what he's done
to the team. He made a major decision to trade
Smart that was probably hard to do, you know what
I'm saying, to come off with Smart and then you
end up with Porzingis, and then he brought Drew in.
I mean then you got White there, White, and man
(21:23):
he made some money making, Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
So you know, I think, uh, you know, as far
as it is that. You know, he's one of the
top gms in the league. That's a tough job.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
So when you was in your heyday, who you think
was the most clutch player that you was playing against
on a regular basis?
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Playing against clutch.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
Damn that I played didn't have to be the best
player on the team. But you knew fourth quarter against him, Yeah,
you know, fourth quarter money time.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Jay Kidd dog, because it was just a decision making
to him, like even if he don't shoot the shot,
he made the right play. It was like Jay Kid. Uh,
definitely Reggie Miller. Uh, guys, you'd be like, damn, oh
my gosh, this is the Eastern Conference. Ray Allen is
(22:15):
in there, guys with these decords, you know, quiet has
kept who was who was clutched to gilb with Arenas.
He had a window man where you couldn't stop dude,
Like he was a regular man.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
He had a window.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Dog if he didn't have no injuries, he had a
cool little window to where it was like, damn, he
was frustrating playing against him.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
He didn't stop. He wass yeah. Yeah, he was like.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Because he was strong too, people like talking about the shoot.
He was strong to the cup I'm talking about. He
was north and south. He didn't play around, he wasn't
doing all that. I'm he just going north and south.
And he was a big girl with brought shoulders at
the time. And he wasn't the most athletic, but he
was pretty, but he was fast and play strong. Him
(23:02):
and Baron Davis was like the big guards Steve Francis
that attacked the rim that I remember for that era.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
What about give us some clutch moments that you ain't
really discussed. Everybody know about the you call game. You
know you call game with that one. That one.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
I got so many look at this, I got so
many games that wasn't buzzer beaters, but like under five,
like the go ahead I got a lot of those,
like if they put the go ahead shots in the
fourth quarter, like maybe like say under a minute or something,
say under a minute shots.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
I thought I saw something when it was thousand of those.
So what's one you can remember, like that's not really
talked about, that's not really talked about of just clutch moments,
clutch moments. Uh, I maybe it might not be talked
about a lot. I mean it's not considered clutch moment
because at the end. But I think that New Jersey Game,
(24:00):
New Jersey Game. Which game was that? Yall came back?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Oh the twenty one point comeback?
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Yeah, y'all was staying.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
I was like game three, right or Game four?
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Was that your first like really glance of a real
comeback where you felt like just empowered, like when you
just can't be stopped because you're coming down the stretch
in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
And then there was the playoffs too.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
That was like a great moment for my career, just
like cause all year I was one of the best
fourth quarter players. So like I just remember, like, all right,
regardless of whatever happened third through three quarters, that I'm
gonna be on in the fourth.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
I was one of the I think I led the
league in scoring the fourth quarter points. So I was
like top two or three that year, if not number one.
So I was just like struggling, just struggling through three quarters.
But I was just like, damn, all right, this is.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
My time now. Fourth quarter that was like real.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
It was like this my you know what's not talking
about for me? That was the Brooklyn nets one, the
block shot, the clutch block.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Yeah, was at the wind he was at them. Yeah, yeah,
series over the clutch block. I just remember like I
remember it because it was just like damn. I just
saw Larry coming at me and I was guarding somebody
though I think I was guarding somebody, and then he
just broke.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
I don't even know.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
I look at the play and I was looking like
all right, KG and Darren Willis had him trapped, so
I'm thinking like, oh, we got him, and somehow he
split them and I'm like think, how did they split him?
And the next thing you know, he in front of me,
and I just jumped up with my hand up and.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
I didn't know.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
I wasn't sure if there was gonna call a foul
or not, because you know, Kyle Laurry is good at
drawing a foul. He'd be well in his body he
fell to so you know, once the block happened, I
was like, yeah, went out of here, no whistle.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
But I saw him fall, so I was just hoping
it wasn't no foul. Your celeb. Yeah, So I was like,
oh damn. So yeah, I was like damn.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
As I got older, I started like, you know, as
you get older as a player, you gotta be smarter.
You gotta be more efficient. You gotta be more efficient
with your movements. You gotta be more efficient with like
your shot selection.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
You got.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Yeah, I played defense, Like I never was regarded as
a top tier defense, but I took pride on that
end of the ball, and I always wanted to be
on the All defensive team. And I think I never
really got respect for my defense because even earlier in
my career, because I was one of the top steel
leaders coming in, I took pride in defense.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
I actually competed on defense.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
It's the bigger scores even more, Like I.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Actually wanted to guard that py Roy one on one
full court. Yeah, for sure he would show that.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
In two thousand and eight, What did you spend most
of the time in your off season here at Boston
after you won the Chip?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Oh, I spent probably most of my time in Vegas
that summer.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
No, No, it was like because we won it and
I was celebrate, but also though, uh, it was hard
to be in l A.
Speaker 7 (27:17):
That's what I was getting, you.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Know, so like you know, you're getting people that just
want to fight. I had the house out there, so
I worked out a lot in Vegas that summer. Uh,
because they had a training facility out there and uh damn,
I forget to do name, but I know t lo
Chauncey used to always go by I used to work
out that worked out bar and Vegas that summer because
(27:40):
it was hard to be in l A.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Because people something happened in that year in l A.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Oh no, after we went a chip so I fly
out here.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I got the trophy and all the homies we go
to uh Katana Katana's on Sunset. Yep, that's Hollywood. So
ain't the trophy? You know, we're sitting outside right there,
you know, sunset, look over the city. And then if
you sitting outside, man I came and sat down a
by like ten of us or something ten fifteen of us.
(28:11):
Man I put the trophy right there on the table.
Everybody turning around, like the MVP trophy, NVP trophy. So
I mean, still it's the trophy. People see something gold.
They know Paul Pierce, like Celtics, just one. I got
it on the table. So everybody was coming like in
a silence. They looked like, I know, people mummering under
their breath, and I was.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Like, yeah, we got this one. Drags drinks on me.
It was lit. I was like Drakes on me.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Oh man, they couldn't stand me. I was trolling all
LA or Sun said that.
Speaker 7 (28:45):
It's funny from La.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Right. Yeah, I was trolling all La that day.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
But that was one of my my most uh, one
of my good memories of coming back after we won it.
Speaker 5 (28:59):
Yeah. So, so from ninety six to current games, one
second or less, you wanted the top all time in
terms of making the shot to give your team the
league go ahead one second or less. One second or less,
it ain't much to work with, right, It ain't much
work with right there, Like speak about that though, speak
(29:21):
about that responsibility and being able to to take you
back to that Jordan thing. He says, I miss so
many That's why I'm saying when me he had that, Yeah,
so what's the mist because if you missed the crowd?
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Oh, if I missed, you want to scrap.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
And you're gonna miss you made you missed?
Speaker 5 (29:44):
You want to.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Scrap, y'all, Matt, my teammates, y'all mad, we'll do something, right,
I'm gonna shoot the next one.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
You're earning the right by busting them up.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yeah, Like all right, because if you miss, I'm gonna
beat you up now I'm playing.
Speaker 5 (29:59):
I'm just.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
So no, it's just a mindset on the rail.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
You gotta just be like man, you can't get discouraged
because you picture yourself in that moment when you're working out.
I always envision myself in that moment in my workouts.
I always practice that.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
It is the importance of ones to this day.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
But think about a drill, drill drill, Right, I drilled
that like two or three seconds, Like, let's put this
on the clock. That's why I had to go to
move at the end of the games like these what
I see now cats they don't have no go They
don't know what they want to get to at the
end of the game.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
But they don't know their game. They're playing all these
different but they don't haven't established this is my stuff,
this is my game.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
I always set up my game winners with the like
I'm an attack the basket. I went to actually attack
the basket, So if that gets cut off, I know
what I'm doing. But my initial thought at the end
of the game is to get to the real yep,
(31:10):
it's to get to the rip for the most part,
unless I see how the defense is playing me on
the help side. My initial thought is when you get
to the basket, So tell me, I'm gonna make a
move to try to get to the basket to where
I'm gonna take make some contact with the defender and
then that's where if it's cut that off, then I'm
gonna create the space for my shot.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
So tell me this. Give us a time when you
miss one and it's sat with you like you had dinner, still,
like whereas you was pissed. You know, some of them,
some of them they come, but some one of them
sat with you like you had dinner, like sitting there
everybody laughing. Hey, y'all see that movie. You sitting there
like you.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Know what it is?
Speaker 5 (31:47):
Though?
Speaker 1 (31:47):
You know what's so crazy? Though? I don't remember the missus?
Speaker 5 (31:52):
That's I love that. So what's your what's your best?
Make the knicks? This one?
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Are you so loud?
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Every time I could get the nigs? I always learn
that I don't remember. See, I think you have to have.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
What about the heat on the rill?
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Right?
Speaker 5 (32:08):
That was tough.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Oh that was a good one. But I love anytime
you have a good game winner in the garden. Look,
I'm driving you see how I'm trying to I'm initially
trying to get to the rim right here, I'm trying
to cut that off. So I'm trying to get to
the rim. I'm initially trying to be aggressive to.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
You to drive these things from the teaching defense. He
should have got on that right shoulder, force you inside.
He lets you be on the right, on the right shoulder.
That's for your that's for your gun.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Is you got a smile, I'm initially trying to get
to the rim.
Speaker 5 (32:37):
See, and he cuts it off, but he's on the wrong.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Shoulder, and then I'll get to my step back.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
But the teaching moment.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
The only thing I regret right here was leaving time
on the clock.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
No, no, no, you can't worry about that.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
But that's what I go for.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
Yeah, what you got to your but you had to
have a room for the step back counter.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
And how much I listen when you do this a lot?
Speaker 2 (32:58):
You you know, you know the time, bro. That's why
I've never cruised. I never got a shot off to
where our time ran out. Like I know, I'm so
calculated at the end of the game. I know how
much I'm gonna leave you either point something or one something.
It's gonna be slim, right, you know what I'm saying.
(33:19):
It's gonna be slim. And I already have the clock
like when you when you count down, you got the
you look at the clock. Now you got the clock.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Boom.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
I know how many seconds it take to get this
off and to do what I need to do. I
always started like I'm gonna go at like between eight
and six. I'm gonna get into my move. Let's talk
about some Christmas games, bro, I don't have my fair
share of them, but like, let's see who we got
who on the Christmas Who we got?
Speaker 5 (33:46):
We got? We got weiby at the Knicks' intriguing right
it's nine in the morning.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
You know that's a big stage for the young fellow.
This is where he can take his level of stupor
stardom to the next level. Now when you play in
the garden on the Nationals.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
Is there another level and what he's at? Yes, if
you play well, I run superstar that had whoever him down?
Almost got hey, Wendy, who is that? Britney Spears, Britney Spears,
You didn't know biggest start than that you got Britney Spears.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Running you down. I mean he didn't know Wenby, isn't it.
Speaker 5 (34:23):
That's how balding he is.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Mean, But you got a superstore people from France.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
He's too bold.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Don't know American pastor, it don't matter. He don't know
American culture like that. That's that's that's that's I mean,
if he was American, he would have knew.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Who she was.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
But I'm not tripping. It's just she's running after you.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
So we got New York, we got Wendy on the
be there.
Speaker 5 (34:45):
That's why he's there.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
He's there for that.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
His game, poor man's will.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
He's gonna give you about twenty nine. I think this
is a game you gotta shine. I got it for
twenty nine fourteen five blocks, forces, three steals, something like that.
Speaker 7 (35:02):
Winby is he gonna be divisive?
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Playered?
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Yet?
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Yeah, he should win their hands down. He should have
won it as a rookie. Who you got Spurs and
Knicks Christmas Day?
Speaker 5 (35:13):
I'm going with the Knicks, probably the two.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
I think this is gonna be a breakout game to
where it takes him from being a super star to
super superstar. For Winby, I got him showing out. So
I'm gonna take them. Next game, we got Timberwolves Magic,
I mean Mavericks. Timberwolves at the Mavericks. This is a
rematch of the conference finals, right who Western Conference Finals?
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Luca?
Speaker 2 (35:39):
We got a man and Man's is starting to come
on as of late. We already know what Luca doing.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
Who you got going Maverick?
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Everybody healthy too? Yeah, mais af the Mavericks. I'll take
the Mavericks there. This is the easy game. But this
is the if you're betting. If you're betting this game
the Celtics versus the Sixers, if you're betting this.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Game, that the house the spread is on that game,
Oh my god, the spread is.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
This is the game.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
This is what the holl game. You want to bet that.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
This is a game when you leave the reup on supplies,
you go to the store, you make your store run.
This is the game. You turn the music up. You
turn the music up, turn the Christmas curls up a
little bit louder. I mean, even though the seventy seconds
can bring some drama on Christmas.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
But I guess we all got Celtics on it. Yeah.
The two prime time games, we got Lakers at Warriors. Yeah,
who you got.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
This is going to be the last of the both
of these teams. It's gonna be the last of the
Big Bill games for these teams. Like these teams have
been in the.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Spotlight after this year, I don't want to see these
two teams on Christmas no more.
Speaker 5 (36:54):
Yeah, what I'm saying. So this is the last of
the Big Bill for these guys.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
And I do want to see it the last times.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
Flid which this is what's wrong with the games. Who
else should be here? We're not getting We don't have
no other matchups than.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
This is the problem with versus.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
This is not a matchup though, because you don't have
Lebron versus somebody's team team. But it's not a real rivalry,
and you don't have a d versus who like.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Who I would have liked to see in this one,
But it is a Lakers. You gotta have the Lakers down,
you do not.
Speaker 7 (37:26):
Yeah, as long as Lebron's on the team, you gotta have.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
You gotta have.
Speaker 5 (37:30):
Okay, Well, keep going with that strategy.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
And watch your ratings drop.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
You keep on with that, That's what the marketing team
is doing. You gotta have Lebron, you gotta you gott
you do not have to have them anymore. I mean
their teams have to be worthy as other people that
you can see. We just said, is it s g
A who would you rather see? What you want to
do right.
Speaker 7 (37:54):
Now is good, but ain't exciting.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
You just said he was your m v P.
Speaker 7 (38:00):
But he's not excited.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
You know, he's not exciting.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
But he gets to his spot.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
Nothing, he's nothing sexy, but he ain't dunking on somebody
can't get to the spot.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
I mean to you a basketball technician. All right, Well
the Lakers guys, y'all got your head.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
No, I ain't watching this. You got, I'm gonna check
the status all.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
You're watching the stats, you're watching the game.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
I'm playing with my knees.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
You don't probably watch this last game though. Nuggets have
to sign so you got.
Speaker 5 (38:40):
I'm definitely watching Joker.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
You're gonna take the Nuggets in this one. I don't
know what's the status of Kevin Durant. He's been in
and out of the lineup with a little different injuries,
but we all know what he's in the line up
that they're tough to be that Phoenix FI two and
a half. This is in Phoenix. I'm gonna go. I'm
gonna go Cap I'm gonna go with the the Joker.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
What a life? Who you got If.
Speaker 7 (39:05):
We're going with the spread, I'm taking taking a joker.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
I'm We're all going. So now all right, you know
that's there we go.
Speaker 7 (39:15):
What are you talking about? Ratings?
Speaker 2 (39:16):
Who's gonna lead Christmas Day and scoring? Who's gonna have
the biggest game for Christmas? Who are you taking the
most points?
Speaker 1 (39:23):
The most points? Most most points? You're taking Luca? I'm
gonna go Tatum, Tatum.
Speaker 5 (39:31):
Yeah, no, it's a laughing a heavy dose of pricks.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
You got luc Who you got heavy Princher thirty or
the real precherman killing boy? Hey, shout out to pay Pritcher.
He probably got the six man sold up already. Man,
who's you taking leading score on Christmas?
Speaker 5 (39:58):
Leading score on Christmas? I like Luca. If I'm a
betting guy at the end of the day against the signs,
Joker may have to go for fifty again. So I'm
going Luca or Joker.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
So you got a Joker? He got Luca. I'm gonna
take table there we got it. Hey, man, it's the
end of the year. I want to wish everybody a
merry Christmas, you know, and a happy new Year. I
