For this episode of The Undisputed Podcast with Bobby Fish, Bobby and The Demi Boys were all together for a live edition of the show. They were at The Albany Stadium Restaurant which inside the MVP Arena in Albany, NY. Why there? Well, as they were recording their show, WWE Smackdown was happening live inside the arena. Bobby, D. Scott and Frank had the chance to talk with Seth Turner, co-founder of the International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. Seth talks about the history of the IPWHOF, some of the memorabilia that is in the museum and their relationship with all of the pro wrestling promotions all over the World. Seth even fills us in on who's going to be in this year's HOF Class of 2024 this October. Bobby gets into his admiration for the match that Kyle O'Reilly had this past Wednesday against Malakai Black on Dynamite and breaks it down a little bit from a technical standpoint. Lots of laugh, a few interruptions and some good old fashioned pro wrestling chatter on this episode. We hope you enjoy!

This episode was also our first time every going live on our YouTube channel. If you'd like to watch the video version of the show you can do that here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prcnfMKogYs&t=1276s

(00:01):
He's the owner of the most educatand professional wrestling professor might call him.
We call the show, and Imean, folks, where's the line.
It's time for the undiscuted podcast withBobby Fish and we're back on the old
undiscuted podcast. But he's nobody calledthat Frank the DJ D Scott. That's

(00:26):
me, yeah, and I'm theyoung that's right. Well, you did
put over aby Lincoln, So abyme Lincoln, aby aby c eally off
the rail Lincoln thirty seconds in thisshow. Please escort Frank off the show.

(00:52):
So you're in, Nick, We'recalling in the left hander. Are
your left handed? Nick? Heis now all right, you are now?
So so here's the fun thing. We're actually set up just outside.
We're at the Albany Stadium restaurant andbar, right recording this tonight, and
we're live on our YouTube channel aswell, right, And that's because tonight

(01:14):
SmackDown is here at the MVP MVPArena, the one time Nickerbocker Arena,
a Pepsi arena. I watched littleknown fact here, I watched the first
WrestleMania on closed circuit TV in thisarena with Dick Fish. Was it?

(01:38):
Father was it built then? Uh, where were you at the RPID man?
We definitely didn't know, We didn'tknow. It was definitely it was
here. If you say, don'truin listen, don't ruin my childhood memories,
well I know how well your memoryworks. So yeah, yeah,
well and no, I swear itwas. It was my brother and I.

(02:01):
My dad brought us here and wewatched him a closed circuit. Yeah
is that us? Look at you? Nick? Nick pulled up our YouTube
to show us that we were.Actually I got his big boy pants on
tonight as right, Yes, allright. That means you folks are in
a little bit of trouble out theretalking to you, buddy, because we

(02:22):
got a real podcasting happening going onright now. Yeah, in real time
on YouTube. I'm trying to figureout who Frank pointed to to let him
know that he was in trouble, because I'll just hide. I think it
was. I think it was BobBackland. Oh is he here? Yeah,

(02:45):
of course he's here. It's SmackDown. You know. Backland got drafted
to SmackDown. He didn't he Idon't know. Maybe at one point,
yes, I don't know. Locally, I don't know like recently. I'm
not sure, but great as wayto do your homework. Sorry, I
didn't know I had Are you doing, sir? All right? So uh,

(03:12):
Frank, get us back on track. You can you do that?
We have a great guest lined up. Is it the fry Hofer Cookies?
Of course? Why yes, indulge. We have Seth from the Professional Wrestling
Hall of Fame, which is locatedright in the m v P arena.
Seth freaking We all took tours ofthe arena moments ago. It is a

(03:37):
happening to stay the least. Didyou just say we took a tour of
the arena Hall of Fame in thearena, Frank, what's what's what?
What is Seth's last name? Isyour last name? Seth? What's your
last name? Turner? Seth freakingTurner. We have Seth freaking Turner on

(03:58):
the podcast. Come on, Frank, that's a that's a layup. That
was a layup and you missed it. My favorite part was he doesn't need
a last name. Frank, yougotta do better. Are you yelling at
Frank? I am he's got aproblem on me. I am Frank,
you gotta do better to stick closetoo, freaking freaking Turner's yeah, oh

(04:20):
wait, yelling across the streams.Don't worry, I won't yank the wire.
Well it'll it'll stay connected. Yeah, try not to yank Seth all
right, I shan't be yanking onthis podcast. Yeah, please don't.
Yeah, not that I can't getmessy. Yeah, yeah, very And

(04:41):
we could get thrown out of here. I imagine that. And by the
way, let me walk you guysback. You left out one name of
this arena. You left out theTimes Union. So let's go. We
have the Knickerbocker Arena, the PepsiArena, we had the Times Union Center
for quite a while, and nowwe are at the beautiful MVP Arena where

(05:02):
the International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fameis located in the atrium, where we
have gorgeous Georgia's hair curling machine. We've got Bruno San Martino's original World Wide
Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship belt. Wegot belts that go back to the early
nineteen hundreds. And it was honestlymy pleasure, Bobby, to be showing

(05:24):
you some of the ad Santel memberit's gonna say, yeah, you showed
me Ad Santel in nineteen fourteen wasthe inception of that title or I rend
well, the day says nineteen fourteen, because we have that historically reference,
but we do believe it goes backearlier. And so that's what's great about

(05:45):
a museum. We continue to research. So I'm saying it's nineteen oh eight,
but historically we can only document thenineteen fourteen, but add Santel,
who was a great pro wrestler atthe turn of the century and who was
the first pro wrestler to go intoand to uh bring catch wrestling into uh

(06:05):
you know, the Far East, and then that changed what is now mixed
martial arts. Yeah. Well,I think that part of it too is
that not a lot of people areup to speed or familiar with where the
origins of pro wrestling, where theroots come from. A guy like Josh
Barnett is very much like aficionado onthe catch wrestling roots of pro wrestling,

(06:34):
and I think he kind of paysa little bit of homage to that with
his company blood Sport. It's anindependent wrestling company. I know that another
local talent, Marina Schaffir, recentlycompeted in blood Sport a couple of different

(06:58):
times. But Marina is also thewife of Roderick Strong. It's another there
there people I've I've known for avery long time. And Marina Man,
she has a flavor in the waythat she does pro wrestling that it's it

(07:18):
harkens back to that that cat wrestlingstyle. And and Marina is a legitimate
martial artist. And I mean,I just, I really I can't say
enough about how well and how uniqueshe does pro wrestling in my opinion.
So if if anybody listening to this, I know we're live on YouTube,
get on YouTube and uh look upMarina Shaffir. There you go, missus,

(07:42):
missus Messiah of the back right here. Well, Bobby and I just
absolutely love having this conversation. Iswe're jumping literally a hundred years difference from
these conversations, and yet it makescomplete sense. And that's what that's what's
you know, really unique and wonderfulabout having a useum that's dedicated to professional
wrestling. But we're bringing it back, you know, decades and decades.

(08:05):
And by the way, something's goingon here at the arena. This place
is getting crazy. Yeah, there'ssome drinking going on here. I think
it's running wild. Yeah, it'sbeen running wild for a while, a

(08:26):
long long time. Yeah. Ithink you can get an antibiotic. I
was gonna say, I took penicillinand pennasling. A good, good,
thick round of penicillin will knock thatwhole comania. So Seth Chat said about
the Hall of Fame, you wereat one point Amsterdam, right, Well,
no, let me let me setthat record straight. There was a

(08:50):
well done frank no no in Amsterdam, New York. There had been a
pro wrestling Hall of Fame that farafter the fire. It doesn't make fire
in Amsterdam, Oh, that wouldsay. Okay, So from Amsterdam,
New York, I'm gonna up.Yeah, no, no, no,
you keep going. It doesn't tellme up. So that went to Wichita

(09:13):
Falls, Texas, okay, Andwhile it was in Texas it ceased to
function effectively. We in twenty nineteensort of recognized that we wanted to bring
it back to the Capital District, and so we began to work through the
New York State Education Department and getour charter to be a recognized museum and

(09:33):
non for profit. And at aboutthe same time, the museum in Texas
failed. So we did do ourbest to recover as many of the artifacts
as possible. Unfortunate least many werea loss to you know, to that
organization. I can't speak to it, but we've done a great job of
bringing things back to Albany. Andas you saw in the museum, we've

(09:56):
got everything from gorgeous Georgia's hair curlingmachine to San Martino's original belt. We've
got the first money in the bankbriefcase. It's great having a nice rapport
with WWE as they come into town, or AEW when they've come into town,
or TNA or Impact or we havea great report with all of the
major promotions, Major League Wrestling. So it's nice that the Albany County Legislature

(10:20):
supported this because that is who isresponsible for running this facility. And shout
out to Dan McCoy, the Countyexecutive, because Dan really championed our initiative
and got behind us. And yousay enough good things about the legislature and
the County executive and what they're tryingto do for this area. That's great.
So how do the artifacts come intoyour lab? Do you guys see

(10:43):
this stuff out as it could donated? How what's the process, like,
it's a myriad of things. Someare owned by individuals personally. I own
Bruno's belt, right, Wow,I did that on my own kid,
dude, This subtle brag. Subtlefor a kid from Mechanical, you know.
But families loan items to us,which we actually like that because that

(11:05):
allows them to maintain ownership and itgoes back to them and then gives people
reasons to keep coming back to themuseum. So anyway, some things are
owned by the museum itself, andso it's a it's a mixture of privately
owned, publicly owned, and loaneditems, and so we're always working.
And that's where I can't say enoughgood things. Ben Brown, the head

(11:28):
archivist of w W, has loanedass Ultimate Warrior artifacts when we wanted to
do that recognition. I was speakingto Bobby a short time ago this year.
Harley Race is one of our inductees, and not only are we in
contact with his family, but I'llcontact WWE insane because I happen to know

(11:48):
some of the belts that they haveof Harley's. I've seen them in the
warehouse and I'd like to dust themoff and even showcase them, just for
a little bit, so we'll seewhat happens with that. But that's why
it's important that we maintain those effectivecollaborative relationships with all of these agencies and
in states. So you've been tothe warehouse, I've been to the warehouse.
Let's hear some stories about the warehouse, because we've seen it on television,

(12:09):
but we have you're the one ofone of of Courson's been decided.
Yeah, pro wrestling is really uniquein it in its own way that like
the memorabilia and the you know, paraphernalia kind of just cheapens it for me
to call it that, but likethat accoutrement that comes with pro wrestling itself,

(12:33):
it's kind of like no other sportlike the you know, there are
fans and and people that follow thesport that they're just they're they're all about
that stuff, and it's really kindof cool to see it all come together,
especially in a place like what whatyou guys have said. Well,
let me speak as well, whatyou guys are doing with your podcast and

(12:56):
with communicating about this topic. That'simportant as well because add Santel, as
we saw, we've got this reallynow valuable belt and book that that traces
back well over one hundred years. His family was able to track us down.
We were like a lightning rod thatthey could. They were they didn't

(13:18):
want these items to end up oneBay or going to a private collection.
And ad only had one son,and then he had that son, only
had one son, and so theseitems were sitting packed away in a closet,
and and and yet they you know, once we opened up a museum,
it gave these families a place forthe for us to take it and
now to bring back to life.Who adds Santelis to a modern generation here

(13:43):
and bring back this history that otherwiseis you know, it's it's only as
good as whoever has been writing thosebooks. Sure, so let's let's make
it a learning opportunity and keep divingdeeper and there won't be an answer to
the question. You just keep divingdeeper. And Bobby, you were talking
about the I refer to them asartifacts. Pro wrestling there's always been a

(14:03):
representation of the greater society. Yeah, one hundred and whatever you're seeing in
pro wrestling is what's going on insociety at that time. So for us,
it's like an anthropological study in what'sgoing on into cultures and subcultures simultaneously.
Yeah, that's a good point, seth. It is very much kind

(14:26):
of a microcosm of the larger societythat we're all a part of. But
pro wrestling, I mean, youjust watch each WrestleMania and it's got that
sort of stamp on it, andyou could, i know, like some
of the people that really track thehistory of the manias, like you could
go back and look at the mainevents and and kind of remember what was

(14:52):
going on historically in society beyond that. I mean the one that jumps out
to me is gold Dust and RoddyPiper. Yeah, the back to that.
Yeah, the brawl, and itwas not too long before that that
we had. It's and it's nothumorous, but I mean we we were

(15:15):
all in high school when this happened. But the OJA you know, white
Ford Bronco, and they harkened backto that in the backlot brawl with Piper
and gold Dust. You remember this, right, So that being said,
like it kind of brings it illustratesyour point of just now that it being

(15:39):
you know, pro wrestling kind ofbeing that microcosm of our larger society.
It's really uh a videography, it'sreally good. I would argue that that
could I could, I could havethat conversation for about the last one hundred
and fifty years of recorded history andbe able to point to, you know,
how what's going on in the squarecircle is representative what's going on,

(16:02):
which is funny because that's about forhow long Bobby's been wrestling according to the
Internet, four hundred years. Yeah, four hundred years. I really hold
up well for four hundred yeah, and you look good for four hundred years.
A well, well, Bobby,I'm going to speak you. You
make the Capitol District proud, youmake Albany proud, and I want to
really speak to what you've gone anddone and accomplished. And then how happy

(16:25):
I am to be sitting here andhaving this conversation. And I'll bring it
back that where we are in upstateNew York arguably has some of the longest
history of wrestling as well, becausewhether we had the canals which were being
built, we had the railroad bedswhich were being built. From everything that
was going on in Troy, inVermont, in Upstate New York, wrestling

(16:51):
was always going on right in thisexact area for as long as there has
been a United States of America, right, Yeah, it's you know,
I mean, I just think backto my own childhood and what kind of
caught my eye when it came topro wrestling, and pro wrestling was something
I watched, you know, I'mpretty sure I started paying attention to just

(17:14):
the fact that, like my dadwas watching it, and then we would
go to my aunt Kathy's house andmy uncle Mike was fireman with my dad,
and then I just always remember itbeing on TV. And then I
remember trips to our PI Field Houseor glen Fall's Civic Center, and I
remember one of them, Bob Backlandwas stuck in the traffic getting to it

(17:38):
in a limo. Yeah, andlike somebody in our group had noticed who
it was and had mentioned something. You know, I don't know, but
I just remember as a kid havinga visual memory of well, here's this
guy that I saw on TV andnow he's right there, and it was

(18:00):
It was just kind of crazy forme, and whatever it was that the
combination of those variables just turned meinto a lifetime fan of pro wrestling,
And little did I know that thatwould eventually be you know, the way
that I would put food on mytable, which is kind of kind of
crazy to make. Well you certainlyagain, you make the Capitol District very

(18:23):
proud. I mean especially homeboy here. He's a good man. He's a
good man. I can't say you'rethe second person tonight to say how proud
the Capital region is a Bobby, which is which is awesome everybody but me.
Also the second time I've used thatjoke tonight, so there's all right,

(18:44):
Well, but I don't like thattoo. I'm sorry, I'll stop
saying I'm only kidding. No,I mean, listen, I don't.
I mean, my name's on theshow. It's on this board too,
boss. It was when you showedup on aw that for me, I
was sitting at home and I justwent crazy when you guys showed up,

(19:06):
and you and Kyle O'Reilly were becausefollowing you in Japan is not easy really
for a lot of people in theUS. So it almost is like the
old days when I would kind ofonly know about wrestling from the magazines or
from like a third party. SoI know, like some of the hardcore
wrestling fans, like that young manwho just walked away like he knows every

(19:29):
detail of everything that's ever gone onin Japan. I can't do that.
I've got things to do, LikeI would be them bills to your house.
Hey, I knew when you werein NXT and I knew that you
were wrestling in Japan. But whenyou showed up on aw and knowing that
that's our hometown, guy, man, that was That was for me one
of the times I popped in theliving room. That's fun, Like,

(19:52):
well, should I know the guy? Hey, he went to the he
went to the same guptels rollers.Yeah, I definitely I went to Secret.
He was at Secrets. Yes,I was definitely at Secret with no
dress code node and a water cannonthe water cannon to water Summer too water

(20:12):
cannons. Yeah, no, Iown dress code. I was there when
the dress cold was strictly enforced.Oh okay, that was scaring people off,
so they dropped that. There wasjust like show up at whatever you
want. They're just, yeah, what are you twelve? Give us your
money? Yeah, I'll tell youwhat. The water canon is probably not
cheap. They gotta pay for it. Have you ever seen the water cannons?

(20:33):
You need decent attendance I was,I got a water cannon. You
gotta have a like a membership cardto have a water can. I think
you're right. You need a light, you need a license here. Yeah,
yeah, I'm so listen, Bobby. I do want to have you
come back if possible. I mentionedto you earlier. Harley Race is one
of our inductees this year. Comeback. I know that Harley was.

(20:56):
Let me run down our list ofour class of twenty twenty four just so
it goes on record, and soeveryone in TV Land. As Jimmy Superfly
Snooker used to tell us out,the class of twenty twenty four will include
El Santo, Harley Race, JackBriscoe, Ad Santel, Dusty Rhodes,
and Kurt Angle. And getting ourExcelsior Award is the Talented bill after and

(21:22):
our Trailblazer Award goes to Mario SEBOLDI. So we're gonna do you one better.
Everything works out, we'll do thispodcast favor. I would love that
guy, as it would be justcoming out with them fold Where is this
is now? I guess where's itgonna be? Well, so it'll be
October thirteenth, twenty twenty four. That's a Sunday, we will be here

(21:47):
right here, live in the AlbanyMVP Arena during the day for a convention,
and that night we go to theDesmond Hotel in beautiful Albany, New
York. Okay, okay, soyou got your choice, you want to
why don't we set it up righthere October thirteenth, during the day,
you guys can We'll talk to thestadium restaurant. We'll get it booked right

(22:07):
now. We'll run this back, all right. I have nothing but eighties
pro wrestlers and cosplay people coming downthat we're talking. Yes, we want
people dressed like the Iron Chic andBred, the Hitman Heard and Dusty Rhads
and you know we I say toeveryone when they find the museum, they

(22:30):
found their tribe. Okay, wedon't care how you got there, where
you came from, what you looklike, or who you hang out with.
If you like pro wrestling, you'reour type of person. You've got
a tribe. Frank can come dressedas the Iron Cheek. He does an
amazing Iron Cheet impression. That's asBob Bots. It's all amazing. I
can double awesome. We get YouTubeon Halloween about it. Let's go there,

(23:00):
Sef. Who is your guys growingup? As a Wrestlings fan?
Who were my guys growing up?You know the first Well, by the
way, I liked Rick Flair whennobody liked Rick Flair. I know that
that's a popular thing to say now, but go back to the mid nineteen
eighties. If you like the FourHorsemen, you were not very popular.
That's come around. Ye. Iwas a fan though, of pro wrestling

(23:23):
from beginning to end. From thetime in which I saw the Wild Samoans
on TV for the first time,I was hooked off and Sika just dragged
me right in because I'd never seenhuman beings like this in Upstate New York,
so I didn't know where they camefrom, or what they were or
what I was watching. Then Isaw the Moondogs, and then it was
Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas they wontheir tag team championship. You want to

(23:47):
talk about a pop, I mean, we went crazy. So this was
just before Hulkamania. Then Haulkamania comesin and you get to watch those Saturday
night main events when it's the IronChic putting the Camel clu on Bob Backland
and Arnold Scholand throws in the towel. That's my childhood, like living this,
like staying up till midnight because theywere going to keep Saturday Night Live

(24:08):
off once a month so that wecould watch Saturday Night's main event. And
then as the TV wars went on, whatever it was, because there would
be these failing promotions. Right SometimesAwa would be on TV on ESPN every
day at three o'clock. I'd runhome from school to get to watch that.
Then Bill Watts UWF starts coming onsort of arbitrarily at awkward times,

(24:32):
and I'm watching The Patriot, I'mwatching the Blue Blazer. And when the
Blue Blazer was a good wrestler, not a joke of a wrestler. Anybody
who saw Owen as the original BlueBlazer, we were wondering, who is
this talented person walking the ropes inthe way we never saw not before.
I'm saying UWF, Blue Blazer,WCCW seeing the von Erks take on the

(24:55):
free Birds. But it wasn't justthem, it was remember the missing Link.
He would show up on different promotionsor Bruiser Brody would be on WCW,
and then the next day he'd beon WCCW and you'd be trying to
figure out how is this happening? How does this work? And so I
was a fan just to watch everybit of it from Wendy Richter getting screwed

(25:18):
over by the fabulous Muloh. Yes, yes, I'm gonna say I did
walk away for a while. Therewas a time in which it got a
little bit hoppy for me. Ithink there was a mistique to pro wrestling
based on some of what we didn'tknow, and some things were left to
the imagination because you there was noalternative, And I think that that's one

(25:45):
of the one of the ways thatmaybe social media has harmed pro wrestling in
some ways, because it's certainly donemore than enough to benefit pro wrestling.
I mean, you have access tomore, more ability to view pro wrestling
now than than when we were growingup. But I think that some of

(26:07):
that mystique gets robbed from from thosemoments like you you brought up Saturday Night
Live or Saturday Night's main event, and the fact that it like preempted Saturday
Night Live that was a special occasion. You're exactly right, so like you
were staying up late and a lotof times you know, you were either

(26:33):
doing it without your parents knowing,or your parents were allowing you to stay
up late, so it was somethingIt made it special as a kid,
you know. And that's where alot of our recollection comes from and why
we become or or remain fans asadults, is because there's a certain nostalgia
that goes along with that. AndI think that that was some of the

(26:55):
brilliants of Vince McMahon and WWE,w w u F and and now Triple
H or whatever is that they alwaysjust kind of seem to have that sort
of ability to tap into those thingslike making Saturday Night's main events feel as

(27:15):
special as it it did, andand those things I think are essential parts
of this industry that we we needto bring back. I'm not sure what
that looks like at this point, but I think that some of those things
the industry could use for sure. For certain, I agree, yeah,

(27:41):
well said yeah, I mean SaturdayNight. Saturday Night's main event had so
many moments. Yes, and youthink about something you were just saying something
now about how then pro wrestling, which is the cyclical thing, it did
get to a point where it wasa little bit hokey, but even some
of the hokiness I remember with reverence, like the Mega Powers imploding on Saturday

(28:11):
Night, right, and like itwas. I don't know if it gets
much more hokier than uh match comingin and catching Hogan with Liz and then
the whole like it was right, you know. But at the same time,
man, that was like that wascompelling TV. And maybe it's the

(28:33):
perspective of being a ten year olderhowever old I was then, because I
don't I don't know, I amfour hundred. Yeah, it's hard to
remember that far back. Yeah, yeah, lost you don't. Yeah,
lost in the eyes is real, but yeah, it's real. Every time
I look at my wife, ifI'm glad you didn't say every time I

(28:53):
look at you, you said thatwhile you're looking at me, And I
can say to each of you rightnow, I'll bring up one specific wrestling
moment and we're all gonna like,it'll bring us right back to that.
Yeah, when Randy Macho Man Savagegets bit by the snake. Yes,
how great is that? And itholds up as well today as it did

(29:14):
when it I think it scarred mefor life. I was like, what
the hell is going, oh mygod, that snake bit him. And
remember they put the act topics differentfrom the teav said, But that in
and of itself again is what Iwas just referencing about Saturday Night Night's main
event being special. That act isjust more of the I don't want I

(29:42):
guess what I'll call it is sleightof hand. And it's what this industry
for years drew. That's how theydrew kids into it, and that's why
a lot of us fell in lovewith it. And I again, I
think that some of that gets takenaway in the modern day version, and

(30:06):
and it's a shame in that way. If there was, if there's a
way that we could get some ofthat back. I don't necessarily know what
the blueprint is for that, butif if anybody knows, we're we have
a suggestion box. Yes here onthe podcast. Is that the Freedhoffer's cooking?
You know it's at Frank's house. What's Frank's addressed? Can we give

(30:30):
that outline? Four four four fourSeymour Butts Road. Wow, I would
have gone to a thirteen thirteen bockingBird laney More Butts Roads. I thought
it was boulevard. What do youmean or boulevard. That's two different streets.
Boulevard or road well Seymore Butts Boulevardroads to work. I'm gonna be

(30:53):
in trouble. We don't have We'regetting crowded. We do this all right.
But it was honestly my sincere pleasureto be on this podcast. Your
pleasure, Bobby. It is honestlymy pleasure to be able to say how
proud you do. Make the entirecapital districts appreciate doing your thing. And
you've got, you know, yearsand decades ahead of you, so keep

(31:15):
doing it. I don't know that'sa lot, but yeah, okay,
yoga, let's shift over there wego. He's already doing it. I
just did some DDP yoga in theairport waiting for my flight. But the
yoga doc is from Kingston, NewYork. He is he's a friend of
a friend. Really, I literallyjust did a DDP yoga session this morning

(31:40):
as part of my morning routine, and it was one of the yoga docs.
Yoga doc is from kings York. He's a good friend of ours.
Oh man, we run with thesame. Wow. That's great because I
mean it was a good one thismorning too. It was called adjustment something
adjustment. And he's got a coupleof new poses in there that I thought

(32:05):
that that were just and they weredifficult shout to do. Yeah, all
right, very cool, all right, I gotta go Seth pleasure my pleasure
in touch. Yeah, we'll bein touch about Harley's a little bit.
And the other thing I love aboutthat, guys is Seth ran down the

(32:29):
list, you know, and you'vegot you know, Dusty Rhodes and the
others that are on that boat. The one that that was sticking out to
me big time is Kurt Angle becauseI personally, I just I feel like
Kurt is there's an argument that canbe made a sound argument, and I've
I've made it before on the show, but that he is the best professional

(32:53):
wrestler soup to nuts of the generationthat that we grew up watching. It's
funny because Rix Flair was on BustedOpen the other day. He told his
story how Kurt called him and said, Hey, I want to cut the
WCW and allegedly Rick said, no, they called Mystic Dan for you and
you can go to the WWE reallybecause we're about to close. Jesus,

(33:17):
I think that worked out for him. No, no, don't come here
because we're not gonna be around muchlonger. So there, Yeah, no,
and they weren't. But then no, I think it's that's good of
Rick, and it certainly worked outfor you. Think Rick is psychic?
Uh No, probably not. Imean he might be, but I don't
think he And in that case,I think he just knew that the writing

(33:38):
was on the wall. So there'sthat would have worked out for Kurt that
that made it real boring. Sorry, Yeah, well, like I was.
I mean, we're trying to entertainpeople here. Who is and if
if there was a plug for theentertainment, you just unplugged it. Yeah,

(33:59):
I tripped a the wires. Fine, awesome, that was awesome.
Way to thank the show. You'rewelcome. Hey, we haves in Florida.
You big shout out to the guysdoing merchandise out there. Who's that

(34:19):
the guy in the purple merchandise folksout there? Okay, what what's the
deal with the guy in the purple? I don't know he was out of
his bloody mind. I don't knowhe was. I don't know. I
think he actually knows Seth on thespectrum. Maybe no, I don't think
that was it either. I'm nottalking about cable. He had a couple

(34:43):
of a couple of too many,a couple of a couple of one too
many was overserved. He had wontoo many fry offers. Cookie correct.
His phone makes an appearance on thestream. Oh, perfect, that's fun.
So we are at the m vP arena. They are. We're
at the Albany Restaurant and Bar,right inside the MVP or Ring Albany Stadium.
Albany Stadium Restaurant. Yeah. DidI just correct you on the name

(35:07):
though? Yeah, that's Ben.That's not good. Yeah, all right?
And tonight SmackDown, Yeah is here? Correct? Uh? Do we
have a main event? I don'tknow. We have a show line up?
Frank, did you do your homework? I do know. I do

(35:28):
know. We're supposed to put youon the spot. We're supposed to find
out who what's next for Cody?Okay? He did put out kind of
a cryptic tweet this afternoon too.I do have some breaking news though.
The Mike Tyson Jake Paul match boxingmatch has been postponed. Thank you.

(35:52):
Uh, let's see Tonglo and Tama, let's see they're teaming up for the
first time inside w W Ring asthey taken on the street profit tonight nyat
Jack's No, that's not right.I don't know watch tonight. Cody's here,
Paul's here, Paul couldn't join ustonight, Paul Hayman Herman, Paul

(36:13):
Herman his cousin, and uh yeah, I mean so we are supposed to
find out too, what's next forCody. I actually have a screenshot of
the tweet he put out earlier todaythat said, never know what it might
be your last match, always rebelin those moments with a blue heart hashtag
SmackDown. So we're not really sure. There were speculations, So there was

(36:34):
kind of some stuff because it's alittle bit of a callback back to Bray
and some of the stuff that hewould say and were allegedly supposed to be
getting a new rendition of the Wyattfamily soon too, Uncle Howdy, Uncle
howdie howdy. So could that behappening in Albany tonight? Possibly? Will

(36:59):
I sound profet prophetic when this comesout? Probably not, because it'll be
after the show actually airs well,But if you want to find out live
he come down, I'm pretty surethey the box office. Are they sold
out or do we have? Theywere close, but I think there's still
tickets available. Okay, so ifyou're watching on the YouTube channel right now,
you can you can still get downto the MVP arena and get your

(37:21):
tickets and go check out the show. Probably not a bad idea, so
frighting by see us. We gota Frive Hawfers cookie with your name on
it. We got a drunk guyout there just dancing and prancon. Yeah,
he's definitely not a Hull Caymania no, but he's got a little bit
of a like a doink aspects roomlike. He's kind of kind I was

(37:46):
taking more of it, Jimmy Jackfunk Fall. We're doing the podcast,
our podcast for wrestling. We're doingthat right there, the Undisputed Podcast with
Bobby Fish. Bobby will be herein a little bit though. It's not
the guy sitting to seats to myright. Yeah, it just happens to

(38:06):
look like the guy on the photo, but exactly. So, let's talk
a little bit about what has happenedwith you, because you know it's been
a minute since we've done an episodeand you were, yeah it has you
had your match with Jamie, didn'tyou Jamie Gifford, Yeah, him the

(38:30):
guy from House and Champions. Yeah, Jamie Stanley, Jamie Gifford. That's
what Jamie Stanley. Uh, itwas Atomic Legacy Wrestling. Yeah. And
so we're gonna get another we're gonnarun that back and we're gonna add Rising

(38:51):
to the mix. Oh yeah.So it was just announced for the next
show, which is this coming up? I think it's the twenty eighth.
We'll be back in Coco Beach,Florida. It's gonna be pale Rising,
Jamie Stanley, that dude, yep, and uh, the Professor in a

(39:19):
triple threat. Nice. So youget to kick two people in the face
that day, That's what I do. I do. I'm gonna kick Jamie
a little bit, either harder ormore often fair, just because yeah,
just because why not? That's thequestion. Why not? Exactly right?
But because he stole Jamie Gifford's name, Jamie Gifford or my brother go way

(39:43):
back see my dead brother again. That should be a T shirt. I
don't. I don't brother speaking,No, you cannot. So does your
mother? So does your mother? Are you? Yeah? But are you

(40:05):
on the show tonight? Are youlook at you, dude, you're going
to watch You're going to your mother. So's your mother, so's your mother.
Thanks for listening. We appreciate ourfans. Yeah, jack Off,
Yeah, and Triple H. Thanksyou for your money. You gotta love

(40:27):
the jobless. Go clean my car, Go clean the only thing. Go
punch the clock and clean the toilets. Triple H said, thank you for
your money. We appreciate it.Clean my house too. What is going
on? Why did he get you? I don't know, but he's an
asshole. Well know, I meanit. We got we got, we
got him, we got we gotthe purple shirt guy, he said,

(40:52):
I don't know, but he's anasshole. I think people have been drinking
the swords. Correct correcting something.Yeah, although I will give the kid
credit for for for talking ship toyou while you're sitting down. Correct and
not on the internet. Well butnot on the internet. As he walked
up the stairs, Zoe, that'strue, that's true. Maybe he'll come

(41:15):
back. Do we just have Bobbytake his headphone through the gate right there?
Correct? Yeah? No, No, don't say that. The guy
in the purple shirt is lurking. He's back. Yeah, he doesn't go
far. No, he wanders farenough away do we think he's going?
And then he comes, he's nearthe alcohol, he's he keeps getting drawn

(41:40):
back. He can think he's gone, and then he reappears like whoopies.
He's like, I'm off to thetill flame. Correct. Yeah, all
right? Well we you know wegot the is that Sena? I can't.
I can't see him almost. It'shard to tell. Like all I
see is a floating hat. I'llget it. It takes me a minute.

(42:01):
Took me a minute there. Henever still doesn't get it for you,
No, I do. I can'tsee him. I got it.
It's like when I sent a pictureto the group text and I was like,
and it said four or three orfour WWE Superstars or like legends and
it was like rock Austin Hogan andthen there was nobody else but it said

(42:22):
four. And I'm pretty sure someoneresponded with like, who's the fourth?
And I'm like, John Cena, you just can't see him, see not
the only one who doesn't get jokes. We had other stuff to talk about,
didn't we We did. I don'tknow, I don't remember what well,
I mean, I could take usback there and I had a segue
that that I was working on before, but it got derailed so by that

(42:50):
mouthy guy. No no for me. Well, recently it was on Dynamite.
There was a match involving someone Iknow, uh to someone's I know
very well. We're talking Malachi Blackand Kyle O'Reilly yes, and I just

(43:14):
uh. I finally got a chanceto view it this week and really was
blown away by what they were ableto do with that time on Dynamite.
It was and it was two segments, so it didn't overstay. It's welcome.
I don't know, I just Iit's obviously my flavor of ice cream

(43:39):
for for lack of a better term, but it was definitely a martial arts
influenced style of pro wrestling that Imyself enjoy the most. And to watch
these two go out and do it, and it's a style that we've been

(43:59):
doing for you know, a decadeor longer now, and to see them
add layers to it, man,I was just truly blown away. And
I encourage anyone to go out oftheir way to catch that wherever you can
see it. And it was agood lead into the uh the Edge match
at Yeah correct, I did.I did watch. I watched one clip

(44:25):
that you sent to us, andit was it was definitely fun to watch,
very fun to watch. Well, briefly, I want to send well
wishes out to Adam Copeland to edgehe did suffer an injury in the double
or Nothing pl E match against Malachi, So godspeed to Adam and uh quick

(44:53):
recovery and and God bless him andhis family. And yeah, look forward
to the return because I know justin in watching what he was given an
opportunity to do UH with aw Like, you know, you can just tell
the man was enjoying himself, right, you know, you want to see

(45:14):
that continue, and if it's gotto take a little bit of a break,
I just hope it's a short oneand then he gets back to doing
what he loves doing a SAP.It's kind of cool to see him in
the gangrel together again too. Yeah, Yeah, it was very cool to
see, uh, to see that. I think that that's again some of

(45:35):
that stuff is is the nostalgic likebit to pro wrestling that makes it it's
its own unique entity that it isreally really really cool. Quickly though,
to get back to the match withMalachi and Kyle. What what stuck out

(45:57):
to me most was and the andthe layer that I feel like they've added
to martial arts influence style of prowrestling is that much like MMA, much
like watching a UFC fight, wherethe transitions some people do it better than
others, but some people transition reallywell. Uh Pantosia is very good at

(46:22):
this, but transitioning from grappling tostriking and in it, in it and
into it and out of it justseamlessly. And that's like truly what mixed
martial arts is to me as afan. And to see Malachi and Kyle

(46:46):
do that in in the confines ofpro wrestling, it was very much the
same thing and I and that iswhat to me stuck out as Oh wow,
that's the next layer of that styleof pro wrestling as well. And
it's a style of pro wrestling thatI think, you know, to me,
guys like Samoa, Joe, BrianDanielson, low Key, Kyle Malachi,

(47:17):
these are these are the people thathave really brought it into the the
forefront. And I think along withthe UFC gaining the popularity that it's gained,
it's really found its place. Guyslike Shabata Tony Kahan has brought New
Japan people over and and uh Shabatabeing a part of Ring of Honor and

(47:40):
a W I think introduces his shootstyle that you know was very known in
in Japan, uh, not somuch in in the States. I think
you're you know, people are gettinga chance to see and with the UFC

(48:02):
kind of helping to educate some ofthe crossover fandom, I think there's a
little bit more of an appetite forit now than maybe there was years ago.
Yeah, I could, I'll agreewith that. Frank, do you
think that they put too much onionson the storylines, aw and just go

(48:28):
to more of a sport, butyou have more of those matches like with
Melchite Black Kyle Riley. Just makeit UFC style sport, not so much
storyline, Just make it that maybethat's their niche. I mean, if
you're if you're talking flavors of icecream and you're talking about having your own
identity, that would certainly be oneway for a e W to go,

(48:53):
which would separate it from wweight. And I personally do think that that I
think there's an audience for it.I think it would get over. For
lack of a better term, Ipersonally would love it, so like I'm
very skewed in that way, soI kind of disqualify my own opinion on

(49:16):
that. But I think that that'sa really interesting concept that you bring up,
Frank, Like, if they wereto focus more on that, they
certainly have the locker room talent topull it off. When you talk about,
you know, the Danielson's of theworld that I just mentioned, I
really think that that would be interestingas hell to me. You know,

(49:39):
and you get let's say you goout and you get a guy like Josh
Barnett, you bring Josh into thefold and you let him kind of help
influence that. I mean, Joshis still a guy that does shoot catch
but enough pro wrestling as well thathe is, He's not anti pro wrestling.

(50:01):
And I think that you have guyslike Boss Rutin from back in the
Pancraze days when the Battle Arts andthose different promotions in Japan were trying to
get that over that shoot style.Uh. I think that the line gets

(50:22):
really blurry between shoot and work. You know, guys like Boss Rutin did
they they did both, and uhit was accepted in Japan. It's never
been accepted here in this country. Are we maybe on the precipice of that
being a change to the world thatwe call pro wrestling, I don't know.

(50:45):
I don't know, but it doesbring up a whole list of possibilities
which would be super cool in myopinion. You get all the good those
good talent there, the Smow Joe'sand even Hook. I mean, yeah,
you'll sprinkle them in Chris Jericho's andthose guys just for you know,
name recognition pretty much. But oryou could release them all, or you
could ask to find new jobs.Yeah, I mean you can go a

(51:10):
lot of can do that. Youcan send people to the unemployment lot,
you know. I mean that's anotherway to look at it. Yes,
yes, I just all jokes aside. I just I do I think with
Kyle O'Reilly Shibata, I mean, you take what they did with us years

(51:32):
ago with New Japan when they hadthey they Kyle and I were tagging over
there, and they knew that likethat was kind of the style that we
were doing, but we were doingit here, and so they put in
motion this thing with Shibata's never waitor open weight championship and then Kyle and

(51:55):
I both competed against Shabata in losingefforts, and it really they just told
a really simple story. I thinkyou could. I think that the simple
stories are the best stories pro wrestling. So you want the easy to follow.

(52:16):
Yeah, And I think if ifyou know you, you make it
more of a competition and a littlebit more of a sport and less of
a drama like that is, it'susually super simple to follow. And I
don't know, Frank can bring upa really interesting point and I personally I

(52:36):
would love it. They gotta findtheir own lane. You can't get head
to head what's going on here tonight, You just can't do it. Just
be your own identity. If that'syour identity, go with it, roll
with it, you know, takethe ball, roll with it. Because
you're not competing with these guys. These guys are. It's different, different
level. It's just different. You'reright, it's different. I'm a firm

(52:57):
believe when you have pro wrestlers writingpro wrestling, it makes a big deal.
And Triple Ah doing interesting in thebuilding right now and it's on par
with any are you doing I thinkwe've ever seen. I just think it's
perfect to have your own identity. And I think that you know, for
years, the industry has always succumbedto the fact that like, Okay,

(53:21):
WWE's the number one and blah blahblah, and you know, there's been
numerous people that have come out companiesand tried to compete, and you know,
to varying degrees of success or lackof success. It is what it
is. I just think the wrestlingI grew up on. You know,
there was WWF, there was theNWA, there was a WA and world

(53:46):
different right, Well, no,that's what I'm saying, and they were
all different, and eventually, forme, like the where my fandom went
to a different level was NWA,the Crockett years. That was the stuff
that really, you know, capturedmy imagination for whatever reason. And I
don't think that there's anything wrong withthat, and in fact, there's almost

(54:08):
everything right about it. And it'sgood for the industry. And dare I
say, like it makes WWE strongerwhen there's competition, and yeah, I
mean I think it's good all theway around. So I don't know,
I mean, we'll see, butI would love to see more of that
style again. I gotta say,go out of your way catch that match,

(54:35):
and just to like break down someof it because I watched it again
today. The finish that the endingwas beautifully simple, and I'm not gonna
stay out of nowhere. But itdidn't have a preamble. It didn't have
again. You guys know that Itry to stay away from the inside baseball

(54:59):
stuff as much much as I can, but pardon a little bit of that
right now. It didn't come aftera waterfall of falsies. It was.
It was awesome, is what itwas, and I don't want to ruin
it for anyone. So go outof your way watch that match, enjoy

(55:21):
the ending, enjoy all of itbecause it was beautifully done, and to
me it was a piece of art. It's truly. I'm in awe of
Kyle and Tom's ability in that matchto to do this style that I hold
in such reverence. Man, theyreally just took it to a level that

(55:42):
was, you know, part ofthe French but fucking awesome to watch.
You're like a little weight on thebeach. That was good, though you
missed it well. That that wasI speak French now polybo French toast in
speaking and stress. Speaking of Kylein awesome matches, I am looking forward

(56:02):
to seeing him with Ospray. OhGod, which is I believe this weekend?
Right? Well, it was justOspray and Roddy right, Yes,
I didn't. I didn't catch thatone either. I need to get so
I'm gonna have Matt's gonna have tobecause Matt was the one that got my
Uh. I had a problem athome with TV, so I didn't.

(56:23):
I didn't get the match. I'mnot surprised by that news. But yeah,
that's the only problem is it's afive hour pay per view, so
it's hard to hold my attention nomatter who's what's going on. I hit
that three hour mark. And onwhat one are we talking about? The

(56:44):
one coming up or the one thatjust Oh that was five hours. It
was close from start to finish. It was a marathon professional wrestling. Okay,
Yeah, that doesn't work on theSo the Indies are tragically known for
these tournament shows and there's generally nobodykeeping guys to their times as it is,

(57:08):
So these tournament shows are notorious forgoing late into the early morning hours.
What's the reason, because you don'twant to know, like I I'm
reluctant to put my opinion out thereof why this happens, because it is

(57:36):
it'll be a dig to a lotof people that probably lack the self awareness
to be able to go, oh, okay, well, I can see
how that self indulgence is going toruin you know, a good thing yep,
and turn into too much of agood thing. And that's exactly what
happens and why these shows go aslong as they do. And when you

(57:59):
have a five hour pay per view, what you've done is you've taken that
from the small arena, the youknow, the independence, and now you've
put it on this larger scale andthe industry can't can't take that. The
industry is not going to survive ifthat keeps being the norm. And I

(58:21):
think that it's also part of whyyou know, Triple H was it's no
secret was instrumental in in the NXTBlack and Gold years, et cetera,
et cetera, and those takeovers wereconsidered by most to be the most appealing
plees or PPVs or whatever you wantto call them. And it's because he

(58:44):
hit that window right and every matchmeant something, every match had a reason
for it. Being number two ornumber four or or going on last it
checked all the boxes and it hitthat two and a half three hour mark,
and that that's seven to eight matchnumber. When we get outside of

(59:07):
that, we're we're on thin eyes. What do you think for a while
too? Though? Like before WrestleManiawent to two nights, it was extremely
long, like it would start atlike six and go to midnight, which
is why they changed it to twonights, because you're you're gonna lose interest,
not through under cult, All right, Well, you're just you're taking

(59:29):
away people's ability to do anything else. Yeah, you're testing their stamina.
I mean, shit, people don'thave stamina. No, not like that.
You're like, you can get meto work for six hours, let
alone eight hours. You have hardtime working eight hours too. I just
have a hard time going to work. I mean I enjoyed my You're saying

(59:51):
you had a hard time working sixhours. I do, But I also
have a hard time working eight hours. It's hard to have a hard time
staying employed. If you can't pulloff six you keep leaving it. Yeah,
that's true. That is true.Well, the good thing is I'm
like my own boss at work,so yeah, I can't. I haven't
fired myself yet. Well it's agood thing. There's no punch, no
no time clock here. That's righton this show. Not yet, Yeah,

(01:00:15):
it's probably yet. Yeah, Igot to HR about that. Okay,
we have an HR department. Yeah, who is that triple h oh
h t a, Yeah, it'smy HR is my HR department, the
triple HR apartment. Oh my god, there's probably one or two people out

(01:00:47):
there. Fine, we left yea, the triple apartment. Frank had something
to say. No, it's beena comment on Uh no, you were
next you know you're not that you'rein. Did anybody think that he was
going to sell out sixty thousand seedarenas with It was supposed to be a

(01:01:07):
developmental thing, wasn't it? Andit turned into a massive It turned into
a brand. Yeah, you guyswere selling out big time arenas. Yeah.
We uh we popped up on SmackDown, We popped up on Raw Yeah.

(01:01:29):
Yeah. So yeah, I thinkfor certain it it outgrew it's it's
boundaries. Yeah. So we're hereat SmackDown. We are if you can
take us in behind the scenes alittle bit, what the TV day looked
like. I can't take him. They won't let me in. So when

(01:01:51):
you when you were out for real, what was a typical daylight, it's
a it's a little way. TheseTV days are long days, and it
does matter if it's W W EA E W New Japan there there,
it's all these these broadcasts are there'sa lot of moving pieces. There are

(01:02:15):
tons of people in the back runningaround doing jobs that you wouldn't even think
of. There's really so much thatgoes into it. It's amazing what the
industry has become considering its roots thatlike Seth was talking about previously when when

(01:02:37):
he was on, Yeah, Imean to see what it's grown into.
And and a ton of that credithas to go to Vince McMahon for turning
it into the massive global entity thatit that it is today. You know,
was that an explosion? Uh?They yeah, it started like a

(01:03:00):
drop. Oh wow, that's impressivehere yea yeah, or Jerry Lawler,
but yeah, that's well the showdid that was his finisher? No,
that was the pile driver. Comeon, it's getting late, yeah,
I guess so it's almost my bedtime. I suppose you get a whole nother

(01:03:21):
box of cookies. Here, youcan take it with you. That's your
that's your meal for tomorrow. No, like I gotta I got to Atlanta
tomorrow at mm hmm. What's goingon Atlanta MLW Battle Riot tomorrow? I
uh, I'm gonna win my opportunity. It's it's kind of like money in

(01:03:44):
the bank. You win the BattleRiot and then you win yourself of MLW
world title opportunity at any time orplace of your choosing in the next calendar
year. I believe. So afteryou win that, can you just ask
them to come to your house late, don't have to leave. I'm gonna.

(01:04:05):
Yeah, that's something to try todo, is see if we can't
get it in. Uh. Idon't think my wife would be uh down
with it happening like in the livingroom, but maybe the kitchen because we
haven't had a redone yet. Yeah, or well I don't really have a
yard. There's no fans. There'sa pond. Is it in a perfect

(01:04:28):
place? Have you had? Thealliators said, pond? We really,
we really diverted from this whole MLW. We have you know what we have
there is otters, we have osyeah, yeah, legit. Hey,
we're not a band. Yeah,we're not come right around Chris Squirrels band.
They come right around Christmas time. We've had otters out there in the

(01:04:50):
man made pond like five or six. That's so bougie man made. He
didn't make it, did I didn't. He wasn't out there dredging the pond.
You guys, you you guys, build a house. I'm gonna dig

(01:05:11):
a hole for the things I'm inFlorida eating caviar and fucking building. Hey,
the birds up in the tree,We're not birds, We're a jug
